It's a fun scenario! Canon Satoru probably expects his people to be happy that he's back, except when he comes out of the box everyone is staring at him with varying 'WTF' faces, which is the first sign that there's something wrong.

Then, he comes face to face with himself, and oh, there's definitely something wrong here.
