Gotham Protects Her Own
This was actually the original of my other post-
umm and yall really seemed to like that one- so here ya go :) a jason centred one:
Willis Todd was not a good father. Jason knew this, and still, he stayed. Catherine Todd was a drug addict, but she had been a good mother. Once. She was the reason he stayed. But Catherine took too much, and Willis beat her too heavily, and she was gone. Jason did not stay long after that. He disappeared, falling into the cracks of Gotham, allowing the city to envelop him in her arms and shield him. She had always been more alive to him than to others, he knew. Gotham was the mother he never had, the protector, his watcher, the one he could count on. She was reluctant, when Bruce found him, to let him go, but she allowed it, embracing him again with open arms every night as Robin.
In Bruce, Jason finally found someone who thought of Gotham the way he did, he found someone who found solstice in her presence, and protected her. Gotham treated Bruce in a way she never treated Jason, not better, by any means, but when Bruce fell the shadows themselves seemed to leap from the walls to cushion him, the roofs cradled his body as he jumped across them, the alleyways seemed to part for him. Jason learned, as Robin, as he got older, that had anyone really tried, they would have found him. And he learned, as Robin, as he became older, that some people had. They simply hadn’t. Gotham loved him, with his spark and his fire, and his flair for dramatics.
Jason learned, laughing, that Bruce wasn’t half as dramatic as anyone thought, his city was. Jason himself had been there on plenty of occasions where shadows seemed to prowl behind him, making him appear larger than he was, had stood next to him as civilians looked up and seen the flash of lightning, the deafening boom that shook the city a second later. Had felt himself the phantom wind that appeared and brushed Bruce’s cloak out lovingly, billowing it out behind him. Jason hadn’t been able to contain his laughter. He could hear hers next to him, delighting in his appreciation, and soon Jason found himself with the same gifts. Shadows covered him when he ran, chimneys seemed to move out of the way for him and block the path of everyone else, and the streets were always connected for him.
Then he died. He could feel Gotham reaching for him, her child, her golden son, the boy she longed to protect, but Joker had moved to the edge of the city, and her reach was not as strong there. But Bruce’s home was in the middle, and even through death Jason could feel her tender strokes down his cheek, the press of her lips to his skin. Maybe that was why he survived.
As Red Hood, trained League assassin, Jason feared returning to Gotham, feared her wrath. But when he stepped onto the docks of his home, he felt he could finally breathe properly again. And Gotham rejoiced. She cradled him in her underworld, nurtured him in her shadows. She would not go against Bruce, Jason knew, but she still helped him, and when he and Bruce faced off, Jason almost felt afraid as her presence receded, refusing to pick between her children. It didn’t matter. Because Bruce felt it too, and he understood.
Jason Todd belongs to the city of Gotham, and Gotham cradles her son, protecting him from those who wished him harm, saving him from the hatred of those who were not his own.
Gotham protects her own.

Okay, I saw a random tweet recommending the show "Powerless" last week so since I am bored I decided to give it a try.
That's a show released in 2017 that was cancelled after one season due to a lack of audience. It's a sitcom in the DC universe about regular people living there, more exactly about a team working at Wayne Entreprises R&D.
And the show is nice enough, that's a sitcom it does the job, I don't ask for more.
But the boss of that office, Van-something Wayne Junior (who happens to be Bruce's cousin or something) desperately wants to get muted from his perfectly normal city called "Charme City" to the freaking Gotham office.
His city sounds nice. Their main villain is a man with a pumpkin that throws fireballs, there are villains who make winter really cold, it sounds perfectly good for a city in the DC universe. Why the fuck do you want to go to Gotham, sir. That place is not just weird, it is living in another universe of weirdness. Why would you want that-
And like the Gotham office is certainly more important and prestigious but... it's in Gotham.

I love how "they're from Gotham" is a legit explanation for this
Gothamite driving in Metropolis sees a superman fight and just floors the gas, slamming into the villain of the day.
Their Metropolian friend holding on for dear life screaming.
Tumblr media
Cop: So do you want to walk me through your thought process of why you decided crashing a 2006 sedan into a 12 ft tall alien parasite was a good idea?
Drive: I dunno what to tell you. It works on Bane. And sometimes Killer Croc. Last week I hit Joker! Proudest day of my life! I am so dead the next time he escapes.......
Cop: .........What?
Passenger: So sorry officer. They're from Gotham.

While I'm sure bad guys in Gotham have learned over time that the Bats don't kill, that even after bashing your teeth in they'll flag down an ambulance or dump you unceremoniously at the ER, it's still a shaky trust.
One that is easily shaken seeing a child wielding a sword in the dead of night; nobody wants to learn how that is handled nonlethally. Or bad guys just surrendering one late night after running into an alley and Nightwing's standing over their unconscious buddy, holding the gun he wrestled away. They watch Red Hood break into the place they're robbing with a crowbar in hand and just decide they'd rather not chance it. They see a shadow that could be Black Bat and-- you get it.

Tim Drake has been kidnapped 235 times in his life so far.
The first time was when he was 4. He was held in warehouse for 6 days before the thugs who took him realized that they wouldn’t be able to get ahold of his parents no matter how many times they called. They wouldn’t pick up calls even from the kids own phone. They fed him a nice warm meal, and dropped him back off at his door with several full Tupperware containers, and new contacts in his phone.
At least once every few weeks since that day, Tim would find himself being picked up in an unmarked van and taken to an undisclosed location, and upon arrival, he would be seated at a large table where he would eat his fill of home cooked meals with a large family of thugs and goons.

Always Favors You
Another Sibling Danny and Jason idea!!
"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.
All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.
Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.
"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.
The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)
The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.
"Jason Peter Todd,
You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.
Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.
Prince of the Infinite Realms, the Keeper of Balance, The Peacekeeping Halfa, the Defeater of the Tyrant King Pariah Dark, The Great One, Youngest of the Ancients, Ancient of Space, The Bridge between Life and Death.
You, the half-brother of our King, have been given the highest of honors for your past actions and will be given housing and food in the Realms and Phantom's Keep, for the week long event. Personal servants and attendants will be at your disposal and a seamstress will be on hand to tailor make your attire for the Coronation.
Signed: Clockwork. Ancient of Time. Watcher of the Infinite Timeline. Kronos. Mentor and Adviser.
PS: I shall have Fright Knight ("Me" the Knight bluntly said for a second) leave this scroll along with a personal one for you from Daniel to read over and once you make up your mind sign the bottom of the scroll.
I do hope in time you will pick the right choice Jason Todd, we of the Infinite Realms would like to reward you for your actions. After all, if you hadn't gotten young Daniel away from your father that night all those years ago, we would never had gained our Prince nor be free from our once Tyrant King.
Ah, one more thing.
The Infinite Realms will always favor you Jason."
Jason felt like he couldn't breath as Fright Knight? Rolled up the scroll, pulled a letter from his side, and held out the two items for him to take.

Hello, yes, the Gotham Knights cutscene where Jason was trying out his new “rubber bullets” on dummies and Tim stepped right into the line of fire and dared Jason to shoot if he really thought the bullets were soft enough to be non-lethal and Jason recoiled in horror?
I still think about that at least once a day. 🥺✨

once again thinking about jason as duke’s robin. he’s ~4 years younger than jason, and that puts him at 8-12 during Jason’s time as robin. that’s prime time to get attached to your local kid vigilante before your own life goes downhill.
and if we try to keep duke’s meeting with bruce in zero year + duke’s age (so he can remember the meeting and hold that conversation with bruce), he has to be around 8. if he starts following batman through the news at that time because of the mess that just happened, the robin he sees is probably jason. I’ve literally connected the dots
