it made me so emotional when barbie is crying to america fererra’s character and she says “i’m not pretty anymore” because god, isn’t that what it’s like growing up? you’re a young girl and you’re happy and confident and you like who you are and the things that make you happy and then you grow up and there’s a shift. and all of a sudden you’re so conscious of who are and the way you look and the thing you care about most is if you’re pretty, not because you’re shallow, but because you want to be loved. you know that being pretty means that people love you. you know that when someone says you are not pretty they mean that you are not wanted. barbie just perfectly encapsulated how women long to be called beautiful not just because of societal conventions but because we want to belong! we want to be loved! we are afraid of loneliness and rejection! and that’s why i think the movie was so powerful when it said: being beautiful and wanting to be beautiful aren’t inherently bad. it is where we draw our beauty from that really matters. not from others, but from ourselves; and when others recognize and uplift you because of the qualities within yourself that you have nurtured, it is the most wonderful feeling of all.

buut one more thing, Jupiter women trying to be the dad they never had is so true, I've definitely noticed that. My MIL is Vishakha Moon & she's kinda like, the man of the house. She had a very abusive upbringing with super incompetent parents & she ended up having to take a lot of responsibility for her siblings even as a child.

Of course she ended up with a partner who is- lowkey incompetent. He has some good qualities and he does work and all that, but he is a menacee. He expects her to do eeeverything and acts like a big man baby- he gets mad at her if she doesn't untie his shoes for him when he gets home from work. She gets up every morning at 2am with him without fail, gets his lunch ready, makes him breakfast before he goes to work. She makes him coffee and tea at his whim. He will go to the bathroom to have a shower, not bring his towel, then yell her name out incessantly until she comes and gets it for him.

Tmi but he also has no uh, aim in the bathroom- it's really gross, like, really really gross. I had a word with MIL about it, and I was kinda just like 'yeah I'm sure he doesn't mean to do it but maybe you should have a word with him' and she looked scared and kept trying to change the subject and kinda just went 'I'll make sure I clean it up after he goes in'. Like bro is scared to tell her man child ass husband to clean up after himself 😭 poor girl.. I mean I think she's content with how things are because she grew up with so much worse, so in her mind he's the best, but I did read that Vishakha Moon women in particular can absolutely worship their husbands.

She is veryyy generous but to the point that it's a bit overbearing and I feel bad but like, I live with them all currently and I'm very grateful but sometimes she's doing too much. First off: RIP RICO PRIEM. There needs to be better safety precautions and LAWS put into place, not just contract negotiations, to ensure the safety of all cast and especially crew. No one should have to die to see our favorite show get made. We can week a few weeks/months between episodes if that is what it will take. Our little weewoo show is not more important than people getting home safe.

he makes it through the big drop™ just fine, and lets out a sigh of relief. but as your boat is outside, another boat embarks on the drop, and as it lands, splashes water EVERYWHERE. (everywhere being onto terzo. everyone else is barely sprinkled.)

the kids (and you) get a kick out of that, and he (jokingly) threatens to leave them in the haunted mansion.

of course, his favorite ride is the haunted mansion.

if one of the kids is scared of the haunted mansion for some reason (that was me, haha) he will pick them up and reassure them that papa will absolutely destroy any ghoul or goblin that comes near his precious baby.

he hates the matterhorn mountain. he says it’s because it’s rickety and makes his back hurt. but we all know the truth. it scares him shitless. he SCREAMED when he saw that yeti come around the corner. and of course, the kids laugh their asses off at this. to his defense, that yeti is terrifying.

these kids will never get bored in long lines. terzo is anything but boring. a lot of people will play the disney version of the game “heads up” on their phones in line (basically charades). terzo does too, but he is so funny. he gets so into the acting that other people in line join in.

okay so i think terzo is a foodie, or acts like one, but he’s not above a good mickey mouse pretzel. or a churro. or one of those giant ass turkey legs. yeah, maybe he’s not always a foodie.

totally takes the kids to the bibbidi bobbidi boutique if they want to. (if you don’t know what that is, it’s a place where they give little kids makeovers into a prince/princess/fairy)

and he doesn’t care what character they want, if his little girl wants to be a prince, that’s wonderful. if his son wants to be a fairy, awesome. doesn’t care. doesn’t push any expectations or gender stereotypes onto them.

i honestly think he would like disneyland. he might grumble when there are rude people, say some threatening things in italian under his breath, but beyond that, he has a great time.

and if YOU’RE a disney person too, he loves seeing you experience the magic with your kids.

anything that makes his family happy makes him happy.🥰

Recently, I came across these tweets, and I kind of can’t stop thinking about this.

I adore villain x heroine ships and dynamics, and frequently find myself pondering what it is I love so much about them. One thing I’ve come to notice is this very idea: the importance of the male villain’s desire for her… his near-obsession and the fact that he is threatened by her. And, as mentioned in those tweets, part of what makes that so special is the rarity of seeing men or male characters treat women as being so important, as being valid or worthy of consideration as a threat. To me, it can be almost empowering to explore such dynamics through fiction.

One of my favorite movies, of course, is Star Wars: A New Hope, and primarily because I’ve always been absolutely obsessed with whatever is going on with Leia and Vader and Tarkin there. It always draws me right in… the powerful Dark Lord near-obsessively chasing down this tiny defiant young princess, slaying so many soldiers and going through such effort, so adamant that she be brought to him alive.

And from there, she’s treated as a high-class prisoner, heavily guarded and locked up tight, interrogated ruthlessly… but resisting with all the strength and pride of a leader in an underdog rebel movement. She’s essentially the one who is the key to the entire story.

As for Tarkin, he spends much of his screen time dealing with Leia… focused on how best to break the rebel prisoner who holds such key information in this galaxy-spanning war. Most famously, of course, this is illustrated with the destruction of Alderaan… an entire planet wiped away as an act of spite and a means to manipulate the girl he regards as a critical enemy. He is rather creepy and demeaning to her, too, but this only serves to add to a complex power dynamic worth exploring….

Moreover, I imagine it is rare to see a powerful military man treating a nineteen-year-old young woman as a credible threat to his Empire, but in ANH, it’s very much the case. And with the villain/heroine subtext I rather enjoy envisioning from their little scenes together, it can be quite captivating and unique.

There are a lot of similarly enjoyable pairings in many mahou shoujo series— Usagi and Dimande in Sailor Moon, Ichigo and Kisshu in Tokyo Mew Mew, and all manner of Pretty Cure rarepairs— where young girls simply trying their best are the ultimate key to defeating evil and have an ongoing rivalry/love-hate relationship with the worst of monsters. The subtext in such dynamics is fun to explore just as it popular in fandom to do with many popular male superheroes and their archenemies— Batman and the Joker, for instance.

In fact, even when it comes to the most cliche and stereotypical damsel-in-distress stories, the inciting incident, the villain’s capture of the innocent girl, always comes from his inherent desire for her— whether it be her beauty or status, or some form of obstacle which she presents to his evil plan.

It’s so strange and fascinating to think that these sorts of dynamics, particularly when it comes to ship discourse in fandom, are often decried as “toxic” and “abusive”. It’s not as if there aren’t some very dangerous power dynamics at play— which only makes these relationships that much more fun to explore in fiction— but so too can they truly serve as a power fantasy for women and girls, who are so often told made to feel as if we aren’t important.

Sometimes I just need a villain to chase me across the galaxy and regard me as his “worthy foe”, you know? 🥺🥰

- Everyone knows about famous One Piece Guy Monkey d. Luffy being brazillian, or at least inspired by the culture, but I think his whole crew should be brazillian as well (except for Sanji for comical effect). Chopper is just a caramel dog to me, If I could animate I would put Nami in a "Girl of Ipanema" pmv SO fucking fast, Zoro would fucking love football if he knew what it was, and Usopp just fits the stereotype of "malandro" (sneaky malicious guy) PERFECTLY. I've seen that kind of man at bars and he was stealing the cups everytime.

- Lagoona from Monster High is Australian-Brazillian to me. It just makes sense. I think if Monster High ever went to Brazil they could make some cool worldbuilding stuff around the flora and fauna and mythos of the place (Mula sem cabeça girl), and out of everyone in the group I feel like Lagoona would know the most about the culture. She strikes me as a girl from either Rio de Janeiro or Bahia, but honestly you could tell me she's from anywhere with a beach or even just a Big Quantity Of Water and I would believe you. Frankie would probably also have a few brazillian body parts but since they can't talk all they do is shake really hard when she says something wrong about the country /j

- I still have to draw this but Link is like a fantasy brazillian to me. I don't have much of a basis for this except for "I want him to be", but I feel like if I could I would hit all of hyrule with Brazillification beams. You think he's a gringo because of his beautiful blond hair and scary blue eyes, but then he starts speaking in the thickest accent you've ever heard in your entire life and you don't even ask him about it anymore. He even has zero self preservation, which is a trait every brazillian man has <3

- Sonic. Source ? My baby cousin saying he was like 3 years ago. And honestly it does make sense to me I think he should compete in the Copa for us.

- Goku. I don't know how to even explain this one but I'll try anyway: when I was a kid, I never knew Dragon Ball was an anime, and I only watched the portuguese-br version of it, so to me all that stuff was just happening in my state in a really weird version of the world where super sayans were real. I never knew the guy was supposed to be japanese despite the obvious names and the fact the credits were always IN JAPANESE, so in my head I was like wow 🧡 o goku é Mineiro que nem meus tios 🥰 ele também deve ser meu tio 😁. Anyway, long story short, I drew a lot of me and Goku hanging out when I was like 8-10 years old and doing typically brazillian stuff. It was awesome. He's mixed (Super Sayan/Japanese/Brazillian)

Oh honey, honey! What have you done to my mind now that you have said that maybe Rosie is hiding his feelings for Ruth? You have given me an excellent opportunity to tell you that I have been thinking about it since I read chapter 11.

The boy was in love with her from the get-go. They were best friends, and at 8 years old, he made her that beautiful Valentine’s Day card and gave her chocolate because he was going to marry her. At 13, Ruth was the only girl he wanted to kiss! You cannot tell me that the poor boy, embarrassed as he was, did not try his very hardest to apologize to Ruth after her project scattered into pieces following his failed attempt to kiss her. It was Ruth who did not accept his apology because that kiss ruined her grades. During that time, educating girls was not considered that important. Girls were expected to learn the basic things at school, then get married and have children. But Ruth was not that kind of girl; she dreamed of being the best she could be, and in her mind, Rosie shattered her dream. She didn’t accept that it was done by accident.

Rosie was as proud as she was, so after countless attempts to apologize, he gave up and started treating her as she treated him. But that didn’t erase his feelings for her. Quite frankly, it is possible that Ruth buried her feelings for Rosie deep down because she found it unacceptable to have feelings for someone she supposedly despised.

Even though they were rivals and “disliked” each other, you can’t convince me that they didn’t still find each other very attractive while growing up or admire each other's intelligence. When they entered law school, they definitely secretly thought, “Yes, you made it,” about each other. Ruth definitely disliked all of Rosie’s girlfriends, and he despised Ruth’s fiancé. But their real feelings came out when they were arguing, in the form of sexual tension that was so palpable and noticeable to everyone around them but themselves.

So these are my thoughts. Hopefully I didn’t overwhelm you.

Ruth is not the stereotypical woman in the era that thinks about marriage and children all of the time. She wants more than she should and she knows it. She knows people are going to look down on her for it and people aren't going to support her dreams, and she doesn't need them haha. And as far as Ruth burying her feelings...I'd say that there was a healthy level of hate and that if there was ever a person that Ruth THOUGHT she'd marry, it was Robby before everything went down. But the lust and attraction that reawakens said feelings? Now that's another story because they're both utterly horny kids around each other.

What aspects of Brienne’s character (or any other character in ASOIAF) resonates with you the most?

There are so many characters that speak to me on some level, but I go with three:

Brienne

Oh man… she’s just my favorite in every single capacity you can imagine. I know George deserves a lot of criticism, but when he gets right, he gets it. I think Brienne is the result of when you actually look at female characters as people and decides to explore what it means to be a woman, and how complex it is . The way she questions not only what it means to be feminine, but what it is to want those things, to want things you are shamed for because they are “girly” or considered weakness. Of course Brienne wanting to achieve things that are deemed unfit for women is already interesting to explore, especially in such context as the one of Westeros, but what resonates with me the most is how he didn’t fall for the stereotype of warrior woman “I’m not like other girls tm feminine stuff suck 🤮 ugh women suck 🤢”, and instead presented us with a girl who wants to be loved and to love, who wants marriage, who wants romance, and is not in any way weak or less because of it. Her strength is in her compassion, in what men and society in general consider as flaws because they are deemed inherently feminine. Someone who is so good while making tons of mistakes and having her own flaws that don’t detract from her goodness. And how she questions what it is to be ugly and why the hell do we care so much about physical appearances like this? And who said that ugly people are less deserving of anything? Who said that beauty is the most valuable trait you need to have to be treated as someone worthy of love and sex and compassion? You see, it is very important to me that Brienne is ugly, because it truly made me rethink a lot of my day to day speech and thoughts when it comes to beauty and how I approach this in real life. To have such a character be desirable and live a romantic arc, probably the best romantic arc he created in the entire story… ugh I love Brienne and what she represents.

Jaime

He has never done anything wrong in his life ever and if he did, he looked really hot while doing so and he’s also funny so I don’t get how people want to hate him for it and condemn him for it 🥰. I love Jaime for many many many things, his entire arc is fascinating, he’s so so complex and has so many layers, I honestly think he’s one of the best written characters of the saga. I also think his sense of humor really makes his chapters a delight to read. To spend entire books hearing about how bad of a guy he was, how he was a villain, tainted, dishonorable, only to have the first line of his chapter being “I’m alive and drunk on sunlight”… George can be many things, but he damn knows how to make you instantly fall in love with a character.

Nettles

I love Nettles because of obvious reasons (the underdog who gets the special dragon, the bad boy and actually survives the war and becomes a legend), she’s right up my alley in terms of arcs I enjoy. Add to that the fact that she is a black woman, and I’m sold. You never, ever, see black women getting the hero journey arc. They are never the special ones, they are never the ones who win. But she was. She is exceptional among several characters who think themselves to be the exception when they are nothing but a bunch of losers with a superiority complex. She is the exception and proves herself with everything going against her. She’s fantastic, and is the type of character that we people of color don’t have growing up, that we don’t see in fantasy stories, and she’s that much more special to me because of it.

The summer got away from me and then I went camping for a couple days and now WoT season two is only, like, a day away! And I've still got 3 more episodes to rewatch!

Anyway, time to pop some bottles because it's episode six and Moiraine x Siuan is about to go canon.

Watching Siuan being forced to leave her father is heartbreaking.

There was an interesting meta about patriarchy and patriarchal violence in the Wheel of Time books and, while so many leaders are world leaders are women and the Aes Sedai, the most powerful people in that world, are all women, there's still a bunch of in-world gendered stereotypes and violence that seem to stem more from our world's sensibilities than that world's. Which, yes, I'm sure a bunch of it did come down to some of RJ's unconscious biases.

BUT the show is doing an interesting job of highlighting the push-pull of power and trust. In the last episode we had Liandrin talking about how little girls are still hurt, even though the Aes Sedai exist, like one doesn't negate the other. Also in that episode we had the Whitecloaks, through Eamon Valda, talking about how no one with that amount of power can be trusted, regardless of whether the power is corrupted or not.

Now we see tiny little Siuan being sent away, not because her father doesn't love and trust her, but because the people around her don't. If she's going to live, she has to leave. Which is just heartbreaking. No wonder so many Aes Sedai only trust their sisters in Saidar.

Practicing knots and practicing weaves. Basically the same thing, really.

He knows he'll never see his daughter again.

You ever think about how lucky we are that Rosamund Pike decided to champion this series? Because I do, every time I watch.

I want to think the costumers, productions designers, and VFX artists who made Tar Valon look so fucking cool.

Women in the Tower Guard is an excellent touch. Four for you, R2J2.

They're giving so much texture and depth to Logain. I love to see it.

Ship it! Probably my favorite mlw ship because despite being cishet, it’s not a stereotypical shonen romance.

1. What made you ship it?

- I started thinking about it a little bit during the school festival arc when Kaminari encouraged Jiro to perform, not for the class but because it’s something she loves to do and doesn’t get to do much due to being in the hero course. I think it really hit me when I read the chapter during the first war when Midnight told Kaminari to do what needs to be done for the sake of the person who’s most important to you and he looked back at Jiro and Jiro was expressing that she was worried about him ahdbejdb. Also the memory from Tokoyami where it shows that Kaminari really admires Jiro and wants to do her best because of her shebdjne I’m sorry, it’s cute.

2. What are your favorite things about this ship?

- the matching chokers and matching hair. And the fact that they’ve been openly poking fun at each other since the beginning of the story and it’s not an extremely romantic dynamic but a comfortable chaotic one. Kinda reminds me of Pudge x Alaskas dynamic from Looking for Alaska, for anyone who’s read that book.

3. What unpopular opinion do you have about this ship?

- I think more often than not Jiro is seen as “one of the guys” because she’s less feminine than the other girls (which I relate to a lot and is why she’s one of favorite characters) and as a result she feels bad when she’s not brought up like the rest of the girls in terms of beauty. For example: that one Peephole scene in the locker rooms where Jiro poked M*netas eye but felt insecure because he didn’t bring her up when he was praising all the other girls. Even though Kaminari is kind of a perv as well, he sees Jiro for who she is and isn’t pulled in by just her looks like he was when he tried to ask Uraraka out or when he was flirting with Ibara at the sports festival. He likes her despite the fact that she’s not traditionally feminine (which personality wise I’d say most of the girls in mha aren’t traditional feminine in terms of shonen standards). And on the opposite end, Jiro is able to see Kaminari for he is (despite making fun of him all the time it seems like she does have faith in him) and admires him despite his previous shallowness.

In conclusion, I love this ship and I actually think it’s another example of Horikoshi steering away from shonen stereotypes by neglecting toxic femininity

and masculinity. I love emo bisexual people🥰

Living Life As A Soft Girlie

These are my little tips that helped me personally become a more softer version of myself and I thought I’d share✨

1. Let Yourself Take Time To Do Things

This is very big for me. It also has a lot to do with time management. When I say take your time or slow down I don’t mean it in the sense where you are ignorant to time constraints around you, but try to do things and organize your time which allows you to move at a slower pace.

2. Invest In Yourself

Not just financial but health wise, spiritually, educationally, etc. Take time to put BENEFICIAL time into yourself.

3. Give Love

Give love to people who deserve your love(that includes yourself) giving yourself and deserving people love is such a way to be a soft lover girl with or with a significant other. You can do this by any means of love that makes you feel good ( and the other person is okay with)

4. Do What Works For You

This may be hypocritical because of the nature of this list but please do and engage in what makes YOU feel soft. For example, Baking brings me peaceful and makes me feel great. If it makes you stressed or you don’t like it please don’t try to force yourself to like it. Do what makes YOU feel at peace and happy.

5. Stereotypical Femininity ≠ Soft

Tying into the last point, stereotypical femininity is not the same as softness.You don’t need to like certain things or portray yourself a certain way to be soft. Being soft is however a feminine quality. Many masculine men are soft so there is no need for you to feel like you need to be super girly to live a softer life.

Day 2 of KaySays

It will take a while to get used to documenting my emotions but I think this will replenish my spirit and soul. Today my mind is clocked with a little bit of a mix.

We are still on the topic of love.

Sooooo. We all know there is Sam, (by all I mean you and I Kay). The one that came into my life and changed everything as I knew it forever, the one my heart and spirit yearns for and I believe will yearn for, for centuries to come. I don't think I've ever felt connected to any human being the way I felt connected with Sam. She really got me, she had all the attributes of the human I've always dreamt of marrying.

She's the love of my life... After me and my family. Her beauty and wit are the magnets that capture my being....I'll write more about her... My soul mate soon but she's on my mind but not as vividly as she usually is.

The reason is Sarah, I met a wonderful human being all across the world whose brought back smiles to my world. A kind, shy, calm woman who defies all set stereotypes. She's white (what the hell is she doing with a black girl), she's from America (the one place with the most ignorance about all things Africa), she's from across the world-distance (I mean what the hell is she thinking connecting with me),but the connection still works.

She can talk thd entire day, about anything and everything and we have sooooooo much in common. She's smart, educated, ambitious, hard-working, independent and one of the kindest people I know. She's also beautiful, her body is a banger 😂. She's supportive, routes for me and affirms me... Which is such a plus.

At the moment I'm pretty sure I like her, nothing more. But I do know I like her because when she doesn't reply quick enough my emotions are affected, including my mood... I think about her often and wonder what she's doing and whether she thinks about me. She's the first person I want to talk to when I wake up and last before I sleep. She makes me smile and we have such stimulating conversations so far. I really love her lifestyle... Shes not all over the place and we have a pretty cool, dating app story together.

I really want to see where it goes, it looks promising and I truly hope it's worth it🥰

I call her my UN Lawyer 👩‍⚖️...
