With Loki coming back I see the discourse over the romance with Sylvie also coming back and I have to say, I think it is one the most pointless discourses I've seen about media ever.
For starters because self-cest is not a real concept. Is not something that can happen in our reality. The moral dylema around loving an alternate version of yourself is purely hypotetical.
So I find strange that there is so many people clutching their pearls at this storyline like is an actual problematic issue. Specially because this has to be the most toned down and universally morally acceptable depiction of what could be considered self-cest I've seen.
They are not the same gender or personality, is consensual, there are no sexual connotations, the show itself adresses it as something that could be considered socially unacceptable. They don't even have the same name. Hell, they don't even look anything alike.
I could even argue this doesn't count as self-cest. A central theme of the show is the question of 'are variants their own person or not?' And very bluntly the show tells you they are.
I don't wanna get too philosophical, but, by the shows own story, Sylvie is not Loki. They tell you that several times. They come from different backgrounds, have different personalities, different opinions, different identities.
Loki's mom is not Sylvie's mom. Loki's dad is not Sylvie's dad. Because branches are individual and unique phenomenons.
The only thing they share is the role they were given to play, and they both ended up rejecting it. Because that is the point of the show. That is why the TVA kidnaping variants is considered bad. Because variants have value and individuality by virtue of themselves.
And don't get me start with the thing with Mobius. Some of you in this ships disscusions are starting to dive into really bad narratives. Like implying that because Loki is bisexual he HAS to romantically involve with a man or else his queerness is erased or 'doesn't count'. Or that because he is bisexual he can't have a close and intimate platonic relationship with another man because it MUST mean he is in love with him.
And I really, really, really don't think what Loki and Mobius have is queerbaiting. It was very evident to me from the begining that their relationship was suppose to be a friendship. I need everyone to be aware that queerbaiting is more that just "a queer ship not being canon when it could be".
We can argue whether Loki indirectly stating he is bisexual and then never mention it again can be considered queerbaiting or not. That is an actual conversation that we can have.
But the current discourse feels like watching people argue with with a blank wall.

sorry but this post just pissed me fr, i need a moment to talk. basically i freshly became a valcarol shipper (they kinda been the only thing i've been thinking of ever since i saw the marvels-) and i came across this as i was looking up stuff abt them and...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...sorry but like? what is the point of pitying the two pairing together when they are both getting the same awful mistreatment by marvel and d*sney??
sure i don't deny, there are some inviduals out there who purely ship them out of fetishizing or that there are misogynists (mostly thowards sylvie obv) cuz no fanbases are perfect but literally tf does that got to do with wether the ship is queerbait or not..? where is the colleration exactly? 2+2=fish ?
using "two characters that have been called queer on social media" as counter-argument is so esp weird as if loki isn't canonically bi...my brother in christ, the same way brunhilde is. like op's really going nowhere 😭
let's look over facts: 1. valcarol has good chemistry, kissed on cheeck, shipped by cast, one's canon bisexual in the pairing and had a line cut out due it confirming the two's relationship to not loose homophobic audiences, 2. lokius has good chemisrty, one's canon bisexual in the pairing, has a theme titled after their ship name, constant romantic under-tones & pararrels with f/m canon ships, shipped by cast, they had to rewrite the entire 5th ep bc of something "controversial" *cough* cheeck kiss *cough* bc they r "basically trying make the relationship canon without loosing homophobic audiences" yes. (SORRY IF I LEFT ANYTHING ELSE OUT BTW)
so looking all over these i can only wonder where this whole narrative comes from 😵‍💫
Tumblr media
but i'll say: it lokius is queerbait ! valcarol is queerbait !
anyways if we not gonna be besties at least let's not trying to be so competitive and use a fairly similar ship and invalidate it just to "prove a point" ok plsss🙏 🫶

You have to kidding when you say lokius or whatever is the superior Loki ship? Just because you ship it that doesn't make it superior. On top of that Mobius is the ugliest person to ever ship loki with
man, fuck off. someone asked me my opinion on Loki ships and I responded with my opinion on Loki ships. this is that whole "everyone on tumblr is chronically online and thinks every post must be About Them Specifically" bullshit I was talking about earlier. a girl can't even call her fav ship superior in her own post about her own ships without some asshole getting mad that I didn't account for Every Single Marvel Fan's Opinion Ever. make your own post about your own favorite Loki ship if you're this bitter idfc just go away
#also imagine thinking 'he's ugly' is a good defense about why you don't like a ship?#especially when that ugly person is Owen Wilson as Mobius M Mobius‚ the most precious bean of all precious beans???#when i look at Mobius I don't even see Mobius okay when I look at Mobius i see a being who descended from the heavens#Jesus Himself wept the first time He saw Mr. Mobius M. A few types of MCU Loki fans I’ve encountered/noticed being in the fandom for over three years now:
DISCLAIMER: DON’T TAKE THIS TOO SERIOUSLY PLEASEEEE IT’S LIGHTHEARTED!! Some of these things apply to me as well, and some don’t lol. Doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone it’s all just for giggles.
The Lokius shipper Series Fan:
- Usually younger Gen Z. Can be anywhere from 14 to 23 years old. They’re younger teenagers most of the time.
- Heavily on TikTok but also on Pinterest/Twitter.
- Got into the MCU/Loki more recently. Either from the Series, or from Ragnarok.
- For some reason, wholeheartedly believes that one Tumblr post from like ten years ago that states Loki is 16/17 in human years. Even though that’s not canon at all and it does not work like that.
- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be the Variant/Ragnarok. Sometimes Avengers.
- Almost ALWAYS a fan of Good Omens or OFMD.
- Obviously… Ships Lokius.
- Very anti Sylvie/Sylki, but LOVES Mobius.
- EXTREMELY anti Thorki, even though not a lot of people ship them anymore.
- Spreads a lot of misinformation. Such as taking the fact that Marvel confirmed that the Scepter influenced Loki, and mistaking that with them 100% confirming the theory of Loki being brainwashed by Thanos.
- Thinks Loki’s eyes are green???
- Newer to fandom in general.
- Doesn’t talk a whole lot about the series outside of the ships/fanon discourse.
- Making Loki tree/Yggdrasil jokes CONSTANTLY.
- Either thinks that Loki before the series was completely evil, or an angel. No in between.
- “For you, for all of us 🥺” / “Your savior is here!”
- Often forgets/doesn’t remember the fact that Loki/OG Loki are two different characters, and groups them together.
- Either a Swiftie who likes to constantly joke about when Taylor and Tom dated for 3 months like 8 years ago and also associates a lot of her Songs/Lyrics with Loki, or is someone who has a bit more of an Alternative taste in Music/Fashion.
- Doesn’t really talk about Thor that much, or really wants him and Loki to reunite.
- They’ve probably seen other movies including Tom like Crimson Peak, Skull Island, and High Rise. The more popular ones.
- Owns a lot of TVA related merch.
- “He’s not Odin’s son, or Laufey’s son… He’s Frigga’s son 🥺” or insists on calling Loki by “Laufeyson.”
- In Fanon, sort of treats Loki as a very normal, modern human, and not a god from an entirely different realm.
- Has either dropped the Series/their love of Loki a few months after the Series ended for the “next best thing”, or is currently still raving about all of it.
- Quite immature about other’s opinions/perspectives on Loki/or even people who ship the opposite ship from their own. This is mainly because they’re younger or because they really like their Fanon idea of Loki/Which ship should be Canon.
- Has some questionable headcanons/opinions of their own on Loki.
- Loves Frigga.
- Hates Odin.
The OG Loki fan who’s been a fan of him since 2011/2012, but is a bit more casual about his characterization:
- Usually a Millennial/in their late twenties or mid thirties. May even be in their fourties.
- Has been here for a good while, and saw just about every movie featuring him as well as other MCU movies in the theater when they first came out. Was probably a younger adult/older teenager when Avengers came out.
- Fanfic writer!!
- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be Ragnarok, TDW, or Avengers.
- Mainly reside on Tumblr/AO3 but also on Twitter from time to time.
- “The Sun will shine on us again.” / “Love is a Dagger.”
- Some depict Loki in their Fanfics in a Smutty/BookTok YA Fantasy Novel style. Some in other ways. They also have a lot of fun with their Fics! So many AUs.
- They are carrying the Loki x Reader tag, I won’t lie. 🫡
- Doesn’t necessarily love the Series, but also doesn’t necessarily hate it. Does prefer the OG Loki they know and love over the Series and had a few disappointments with the Series, though.
- MAJOR Hiddlestoner. Some may like Tom more than they like Loki. Have watched his entire filmography and then some.
- A lot of them have really cool Loki related tattoos.
- Collects a lot of merch. Both from the Series, as well as more OG Loki merch. Also owns about fourty Tom magazines.
- Probably has met Tom/owns an autograph or something signed by him.
- Usually ships Loki with Sigyn, Jane, Tony, or an OC they’ve had since 2013. Honestly, I don’t personally see them that often anymore, but may ship Thorki. Does not really ship Lokius/Sylki whatsoever, or uses Sylvie as a bit of a self insert in Fics.
- Sometimes also a huge fan of Bucky/The Winter Soldier or Sebastian Stan. Associates Bucky and Loki a lot especially in Fics.
- Some are also fans of Star Wars who love Kylo Ren.
- Actually they like a lot of other morally grey characters.
- Probably has a pet named after Loki.
- Feels deeply for Loki, and relates to him in certain ways. Really likes humanizing him in their fics. Loves the more vulnerable side of him.
- Loves Frigga.
- Hates Odin.
The Loki purist/“He’s literally me” Fan:
- Anywhere from 16 - 28 years old. May be a bit older than that. Usually Mid/Older Gen Z, or younger Millennial.
- Has either grown up loving Loki, or became a fan a bit more recently.
- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be TDW, but obviously can be any of the three OG depictions of him.
- LIVES on Tumblr. A bit of an extinct species elsewhere, but some may also be on Twitter.
- #1 Loki defenders. Very protective of/sensitive about how he is depicted not only in Canon, but also in Fanon. Usually deemed as harsh by series fans/non series haters whenever they criticize the Series or Ragnarok, but in reality, deeply relates to Loki and takes it very personally when he is depicted inaccurately. They see themselves in him, and are so, so, SO tired of seeing him mischaracterized. But also can be genuinely harsh at times. I’ve been guilty of that.
- Either heavily believes the “Thanos Brainwashed Loki” theory, or completely rejects it.
- “I never wanted the Throne. I only ever wanted to be your Equal.” / “Trust my Rage.”
- Very creative. Creates Art of Loki, Fanfics, Edits, Cosplays him, etc…
- Sometimes weirdly resembles him in ways??? LOL. Taking “He’s literally me” literally
- Has a more Alternative taste in Music, Fashion, Aesthetics, etc..
- They either see Loki as their bff, their life partner, or as an enigma to observe. Or all of the above.
- Pretty into Norse Myth, and likes incorporating aspects of it creatively, or when talking about Loki.
- Has a good amount of Fandom experience, and does not tend to argue with other Loki purists/OG Loki fans over petty things. Because at the end of the day… it’s just Tumblr. And we usually all have a common middle ground. Or, is constantly arguing with others.
- They don’t really ship Loki with anyone, but if they do… it’s usually Sigyn or Thor. Or someone really random.
- Either really enjoys depicting Loki in a more Feminine/Neutral form, and wishes his fluidity was depicted in the MCU, or doesn’t talk about it all that much.
- Single handedly keeping the memory of Loki (prior to Ragnarok) alive. 🫡
- Loves the comics, or hasn’t touched a single one.
- Disliked Taika Waititi before it was cool.
- Lost complete trust in the MCU after the handling of Loki’s characterization in Ragnarok, and had no hope in the Series when it was first announced. Or… really hoped it would be our last hope.
- Either deems Thor as the origin of all evil, or actually likes him.
- Wishes it was still 2013 everyday of their lives.
- Either respects/likes Tom to a certain extent, or really does not like him.
- Has a few really cool merch items, or has a lot of everything and anything they can find that doesn’t include Ragnarok/The series. Usually, they DIY their merch.
- Needs to emulate him at any given moment and in any way possible.
- Likes Frigga, but acknowledges that she has messed up in ways. Or really does not like her, period.
- Hates Odin.
The… Male MCU casual/dudebro who strictly lives on TikTok/Instagram/Twitter and did not really like Loki that much until the Series finale came out and thinks Loki is a Sigma Male who dropped everything in order for his friends and his… “Girl” to live:
- ????? Wtf
- Okay I added this one more as a joke because obviously they’re not Loki fans, but…
- Anywhere from ages 15, to 24. No older than that.
- Definitely disregarded Loki’s character before the Series. Also due to him having a fanbase where Women/Girls are the majority. Now Loki is the best MCU character and has the best arc out of everyone else. 🤦🏻‍♀️
- Wholeheartedly believes that Loki was a narcissist/was overreacting about everything he’s been through, or believes that Loki is an angel now because he had a “Redemption Arc”.
- Has never picked up a single Loki comic.
- Jokes a lot about Loki “loving” himself (Sylki kiss).
- Calls the Series “Peak Fiction” just because the rest of the bullshit the MCU has been putting out was absolute garbage, and also because they haven’t really watched anything else.
- If you as an actual Loki fan correct them on any of their bullshit, they act like they know more than you because they loved the series. How could anyone hate it?
- Makes self insert memes/tries to project onto Loki in the absolute worst ways possible.
- Worships the ground that Michael Waldron walks on. Though, they all hated Multiverse of Magic..
- “Let time pass…” / “I know what kind of god I have to be. For you, for all of us.” (Once again.)
- Similarly to our Lokius shipper Series Fans… they do not realize that Loki/the Variant are literally two different people.
- Loves Mobius JUST because he is portrayed by Owen Wilson.
- Also very annoying about Loki being confirmed bisexual in the Series.
- Really wants not only Thor and Loki to reunite, but also Hela.
- Hated the earlier Thor movies, loved Ragnarok, hated Love and Thunder.
- Probably thinks the treatment of Thor in Infinity War was funny af.
- Who’s Frigga?
- Loves Odin probably. (Hehe)

Okay, since it’s International Talk like a Pirate Day, I’m sharing the first bit of my Lokius pirate AU here. I meant for this to be a quick thing to write, but then Plot happened. Anyways, enjoy this teaser!
Tumblr media
I Won’t Lead and You Won’t Follow
The sound of Mobius’ boot heels echoed as he carefully trod down the steps to the dungeon. The captain of the Timely Ventures Associates’ flagship hated coming down to the fort’s lower levels. It was permanently damp and what windows there were in the stone walls were too small for fresh air or more than a sliver of daylight. As a consequence, smoke from the necessary torches hung heavy in the air, choking what light they provided for those who had reason to make the trek to where the prisoners were held.
He wouldn’t have come down to the dungeon without good reason and unfortunately, the captain had an excellent reason on that day.
Mobius stopped in front of one of the cells, the only one currently occupied. The torchlight barely penetrated into the darkness beyond the bars, but a shift of heavy chains told him the captive knew he was there.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Mobius asked conversationally. “When Casey told me to come down here and see what we caught, I never imagined it would be you.” Mobius crossed his arms, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the lack of light within the cell. He could barely make out the faint outline of the prisoner against the wall, the length of chain he could see lax. Slowly, the shape of the man within became visible, separating from the deeper darkness around it.
Even without the foreknowledge, Mobius would have known him anywhere. The captain had spent years chasing the pirate who most people considered no more than a ghost. He was a mere spectre who came and went with the tides, never leaving any tangible signs he existed when the winds changed. Mobius knew he was real though. He’d come close enough to almost touch the pirate a few times and every time, he’d slipped through Mobius’ fingers like the phantom the rumors claimed he was. It was maddening and Mobius was rational enough to realize capturing the pirate was verging on an obsession.
Which was probably what had really led him to the dungeons that day.
A low chuckle came from the back of the cell. “Just what I needed to make things worse. Come to pour salt on my wounds, Mobius?”
The captain would like to have said that the voice emanating from the shadows didn’t pour through him like warm honey. He’d heard it in so many ways over the years of their chase: conversationally when their captive was trying to talk his way out of trouble, yelling obscenities at Mobius and the crew of his ship, the Resolute, across the waves, whispering lowly in alleys of schemes and mischief. Once, he’d heard Loki singing in a tavern, an old song of home in an even older language. Mobius enjoyed that voice, even when it was damning him to hell, but he’d never tell anyone that. Not even the preacher who occasionally endeavored to save Mobius’ soul.
“No. Not this time.” Mobius grabbed a stool the guard had left outside the cell and sat. For as long as they’d been doing this dance, Mobius had never approached the pirate without a weapon in his hand. This time, he kept his sword in its scabbard and his pistol holstered. Perhaps if he didn’t start on a defensive footing, the prisoner would be more amenable to listening to what Mobius had to say. “I’ve come to talk.”
The chains within rattled, the captive evidently taking his time to respond. Mobius didn’t mind. He could wait the prisoner out if need be. It wasn’t as though he didn’t have experience in waiting for the pirate after all.
“And just what would you have to talk to me about?”
The prisoner’s suspicion was justified. They did have him restrained after all. And they both knew Mobius wasn’t the one who typically conducted interrogations, if one was deigned to be granted. Those accused of piracy were rarely given the chance to explain themselves. A quick trial, one the accused didn’t actually need to be present for, and a short drop - that was often the best someone in his captive’s position could expect.
Mobius had a better offer. He hoped so at least. He simply had to entice the pirate to accept it.
“Where’s the treasure, Loki?” the captain asked.
The chain clattered on the stone, two long legs materializing from the inky dark to cross casually at the ankles. It couldn’t have been comfortable, the iron shackles above his feet knocking together, but Mobius was relieved the guards had at least left Loki’s boots on. The voice issuing from the dark this time was mocking. Mobius had heard that before, too.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about. Did you get too much sun today?”
Mobius sighed and leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees. “C’mon. The TVA just wants its property back.”
Metal on metal clanked noisily as Loki moved. Mobius realized he didn’t ask Casey if Loki had the four- or the five-point restraints on. That hidden part of Mobius, the one that would have admitted how much he enjoyed hearing Loki’s voice or just how well he knew the shape of Loki, hoped it was four. Mobius hated the idea of cold rusted iron around Loki’s throat.
“To do what with it, hm?” Loki asked.
Mobius knew, as with any pirate, Loki and his crew considered anything that could be taken, anything that they stole, to be theirs forever more. They would never willingly give back any property, regardless of who it had belonged to. Loki, however, always seemed to have a singular focus with his targets. Since trying to bring the pirate to justice, Mobius had studied each reported encounter with Loki. Aside from a few low-stakes plunders when he was younger, Loki only attacked Timely Ventures Association ships. He only stole Timely Ventures Association cargo. Mobius had wondered why but had never been in a position to ask TVA’s owner. At the end of it, Mobius’ duty didn’t require him to know why.
“It doesn’t matter what they do with it as long as my crew and I get paid when we’re due,” Mobius told him.
Loki laughed incredulously. “Right then. As long as you get yours and damn the rest of us. Do you know why the TVA needs all that silver? Do you know what the people you work for actually do out there in the real world, Mobius? Damn the rest of us, hm? Damn you! I’ve seen it! I’ve seen what happens when people like that get into power. I’ve seen how they destroy places and people and say it’s a better way of life and all they leave is despair and carnage behind.”
Mobius shook his head. This ranting was something Mobius had heard before, namely from any of Loki’s crew they’d managed to take alive over the years. They would repeat Loki’s ravings as gospel and no amount of discussion with them would change their minds - not even as they confidently strode to their deaths. Mobius himself had never witnessed any proof of Loki’s claims and frankly, he didn’t receive enough pay to contradict the TVA line either.
He did, however, get paid enough to know certain things about his prisoner.
“That’s enough of your lies, Captain Laufeyson.” Mobius sat up on the stool, affecting an unbothered air for the broadside he was about to fire. “Or should I call you Captain Odinson? Which is it?”
The chains clanged as Loki attempted to launch himself at the cell’s bars, coming to an abrupt stop when he ran out of length. The torches’ fire paled to the fury blazing in Loki’s eyes. “You shut your mouth,” the pirate snapped though it came out strangled from the iron collar digging into his throat.
Mobius didn’t flinch. He’d faced Loki’s anger before; he had the scars to prove it. Loki was one of the more dangerous pirates Mobius had dealt with because he was unpredictable, but he didn’t scare Mobius. Because Mobius had always survived his battles with Loki. Not all of his colleagues had been so lucky. That was another piece in Loki’s puzzle Mobius would have liked to have.
Perhaps now he could finally get it.
He waited until Loki seemed to calm, metal sliding against stone as Loki settled down on the floor nearer to the meager torchlight. The chains shifted, Loki having to lift both hands to rub at where the iron had pressed into his throat. If Mobius didn’t think Loki would gut anyone who came close, he might have told the guards to take the collar off. Mobius wasn’t so altruistic as to risk sacrificing people to Loki’s whims. He hated that they used that collar at all and wanted it gone. And to do so, Mobius would just have to hope Loki would hear him out.
“You’re not in a position to make demands here,” Mobius said in a gentle tone. “And lucky for you, I’m in the mood to bargain.”
The flames of the torches danced over the planes of Loki’s face as he rolled his head back and the sigh Loki gave him sounded like it had centuries of weariness behind it. “I have nothing you want.”
“You have knowledge.” Loki scoffed but Mobius was undeterred. He didn’t come to the dungeons to give up on this idea. “If you don’t have the treasure, then help me find who does. I know you can.”
“Your faith in me may be misplaced.”
It wasn’t an immediate no. Mobius waited. If there was one thing a sailor knew, it was patience.
Loki pursed his lips, eyes cutting to Mobius. “And what do I get in return?”
Mobius spread his hands out. “Your freedom.”
“I have that already.”
“Had,” Mobius pointed out.
“Ha!” Loki spat out a mocking laugh. Mobius tamped down on the shiver Loki’s sharp grin sent down his spine. Loki held up his hands, the chain between them tugging on the chain connected to the collar around his throat. “You think your chains will hold me much longer? I’ve escaped better places. I’ll be gone in the morning.”
Mobius didn’t doubt him. It’s why he’d come as soon as he’d put to port and heard Loki was in the dungeon. Loki and prisons were a relationship that never lasted. If Mobius had any chance of success, he’d known he didn’t have much time.
“If you say so.” Mobius shrugged and pushed himself to his feet. Loki watched each movement from his spot on the floor. Mobius stepped closer to the cell door, well within striking distance if Loki had had just a few more inches of chain. “I hear the rats get rather bold at night. Might want to tuck your feet in tight if you’re still here.”
Mobius tapped the bars and turned. He got as far as the first step before he heard the chains behind him.
“Wait,” the pirate called and Mobius paused. “Wait, wait, wait. Fine.” Mobius pivoted to face Loki, and suddenly found himself trying not to lose focus at the sight of Loki kneeling in his restraints. “Fine. I’ll help you. It won’t do any good but I’ll do what I can.”
Mobius didn’t move, waiting for the trick. “And you’re not going to attack me the minute I turn you loose?”
It should have been impossible for Loki to look offended in that position and yet it seemed Loki still had some surprises up his sleeves for Mobius to discover.
“That’s not my style.”
“That is exactly your style.” Mobius withdrew his foot from the lowest step and crossed back to Loki’s cell. “Swear to me you won’t betray me the first chance you get.”
Loki shook his head. “You want me to swear? Are you in such dire straits that you’d take my word as bond?”
“Your word is all you have right now, Loki.” Loki’s eyes narrowed on him but Mobius wouldn’t back down. “So will you help me?”
He wasn’t sure what thoughts went through Loki’s head. How quickly he could free himself without Mobius letting him go? How he would betray Mobius in the end? How Mobius was an idiot for trusting him? Maybe all that and more.
Loki tossed his head back, a hard look in his eyes as he proudly lifted his chin. “Aye. I’ll help you find your treasure. Without the betrayal.”
Mobius grinned slowly, grabbing the cell’s keys from the wall. “See? I knew you weren’t all bad.”

I’m a new follower and wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your Lokius content. They are really well thought out and written. I was wondering if you have any headcanons on Loki’s time in Asgard like his relationships, any events you think could’ve happened, etc.
Hi Anon!
Sorry for the late reply and thank you for your patience. I have several headcanons about Loki's Asgardian relationships based on comics canon and MCU canon.
Tumblr media
I'm going to focus on characters outside of Thor, Odin, and Frigga, as I believe those relationships have been discussed at length by many other fans.
Tumblr media
FANDRAL - Back in 2014/2015, I used to ship them together romantically. I'd like to think I added some depth to his character, but the truth is the canon leaves much to be desired with ONE exception. Comics canon reveals that Fandral fell into a portal that landed him in medieval Midgard where he became Robin Hood, married Maid Marion, stayed with her despite her aging while he remained young, mourned her death, and couldn't have a serious romantic affair since. I used this to flesh him out and create a healthier relationship with Loki, but I digress. I think at the very least, Loki and Fandral slept together, perhaps on more than one occasion. At the very least, they are somewhat friendly with each other. Loki saves his life in Thor 1 by throwing a dagger at a Jotun that's about to attack him; Fandral's the least hostile to Loki of the Warriors Three and Sif; in comics canon, he's the smartest/most cunning of the Warriors Three; he is the only character among Thor's closest friends to not threaten to kill Loki upon their encounter in Thor 2, and quite simply their temperaments when it comes to style, pleasure, and poetics are compatible. I think they suit each other quite well and could have made a good couple canonically if not for the fact that they are both flighty when it comes serious relationships (both due to trauma, if you take Fandral's Robin Hood backstory seriously). At any rate, Mobius surpasses him in many ways and is a wonderful character in his own right, for which I am eternally grateful.
Tumblr media
SIF - While I don't think Loki hates Sif, I feel the same cannot be said about Sif for Loki. In Norse mythology, Loki cuts Sif's hair as a prank and is forced by Thor to magically create for Sif hair of gold. In the comics canon, Sif's hair was originally gold and Loki cutting it resulted in it turning dark brown or black. In multiple iterations of the comics canon, Loki's motivation has near-consistently been his jealousy of his brother's attention for her. Now, Sif in the MCU versus Sif in comics reads as a "girl friend" as opposed to a "girlfriend". However, Sif has a strong sense of honor and integrity, neither of which she is willing to compromise. I therefore see her constantly clashing with Loki's morally gray (at best) and outright malicious (at worst) intentions. The most traumatic comics canon experience Sif has been through with Loki was his taking over her body to become Lady Loki. That trauma left her completely untrusting of Loki's motivations even after he is reborn in the Journey into Mystery/Agent of Asgard/God of Stories arcs, despite Thor, Fandral, and Volstagg's advocating for Loki's innocence as a child. They may have been friends as children, but that friendship has long been broken. Whenever they are in the same room, it is tense.
Tumblr media
HEIMDALL - Through the Bifrost, he is a near-omniscient guardian being who is significantly older than Thor and his peers. For this reason, I think Heimdall is generally neutral towards Loki's behavior, having witnessed all sorts of behavior throughout the Nine Realms. That said, his friendship with Thor creates a strong sense of protectiveness for him and wariness towards Loki by Thor 2. I was of the belief that Heimdall is the most serious of Thor's friends and that his regard toward Loki was not too afar from the Warrior's Three. However, the Loki series suggests he has a playful side, at least when Thor and Loki were younger. I think he may have humored Loki's antics as he had Thor's, like an uncle who indulges his nephews with an air of amusement, mild exasperation, and reserved affection. I also think he appreciated Loki's intelligence. It is a lonely duty to guard the Bifrost. I think Loki's visits and conversations lifted his spirits from time to time. Unfortunately, Odin's penchant for war and conquest, his political machinations, his deceit, his manipulation, and his favoritism toward Thor all come to a head.
Tumblr media
VOLSTAGG - Not much is shown about Volstagg. I can say he is the oldest of Thor's friends and the only father among them. He detests Loki's cunning, and Loki detests him for his boorishness. Their archetypes are the classic "jock's best friend" and "dramatic bookworm." I don't doubt they quarreled a lot when they were younger, if Thor 1 was any indication, and that they secretly enjoyed those quarrels as much as they were annoyed by them. Like the rest of Thor's friends, lines were drawn after Thor 1 and Avengers. However, in comics canon, Volstagg defends the reborn Loki, as a child, in Journey into Mystery. Volstagg has many children with his wife and loves children generally. He provided kid!Loki with warmth, protection, and affection when many refused to give him a chance. I think God of Stories Loki would have respect and even some fondess for Volstagg because Volstagg shares some of Mobius's quirks: his love of food, his a soft spot for the small and helpless, and his exceptional devotion to his spouse (in Mobius's case, his partnership with Loki rather than his wife).
Tumblr media
HOGUN - Hogun is the most difficult character for me to get a read on because he is just as quiet in comics canon as, if not more so, MCU canon. I can say he and Sif are likely close in personality. In my opinion, they therefore would be best friends with one another after Thor. His doubt of Loki and anger towards him come across as more muted (still waters run deep) than the others, but that does not mean it is any less passionate. He is also the toughest of the Warriors Three, the last to die in Ragnarok. In their youth, I can see him putting Loki at a distance, carefully observing him, but actively not engaging with him unless absolutely necessary.

Honestly, I don't get how people can think that Sylki won't be endgame. Are they forgetting that it's Disney? Or that the writer is a Sylki shipper? Let's be realistic. I agree that it would make zero sense, but this argument is lame, because we know Marvel doesn't care and they're capable of doing that. I wouldn't be surprised if they rushed it and pulled "actually Sylvie has been in love with him the entire time, but she's been hiding it, trying to push him away, because she thinks she doesn't deserve love. But she got over it now." Not to be rude, but I feel like everyone who believes that Sylki won't happen is delusional. I really want Lokius to happen, not Sylki, but even the idea of Sylki not happening is too good to be true. I feel like those leaks are true.
the leaks, which came from several people who claimed to have seen the entire season (and they all said the same thing), were correct about Marvel’s revealing that Mobius has 2 sons in episode five. I know it’s just a “rumor” and there’s no way to know if they really did see the entire season, but tbh I expect Marvel to pull the Sylki endgame in the finale (like how those leaks also said they would do that, getting Loki and Sylvie back together in the last episode).
if I had to guess, I’d say it’d go exactly the way you said, that Sylvie was always in love with Loki all along, but didn’t think she deserved to be loved, hence why she tried to push him away.
I would love to be wrong, but I guess we’re all finding out soon.
also I wouldn’t call anybody delusional for thinking Sylki won’t be endgame or that Lokius will be canon, unless it’s in a joking manner where I’m also making fun of myself. but in all seriousness, I don’t think anybody is ever “delusional” for having opinions about which direction the show will go based on what was actually showed so far in the series. because if this weren’t Disney, I’d say Lokius would absolutely go canon, after all those hints and everything they gave us so far. Sylki parting ways as friends and Lokius going canon as a couple are very highly unlikely, but it’s not entirely impossible either.
as for the writer, if you mean Eric Martin, dude’s a troll (and I say this with respect lol nothing against him, I’m sure he’s a good person with good sense of humor), he’s always liked both Sylki and Lokius posts because he knows fans monitor his likes and I fully believe he’s doing it on purpose just to (playfully) mess with the audience. so I wouldn’t take whatever he liked on social media as a “confirmation” of anything, not even his personal opinion about which ship he thinks is “better”.
*and even if he does personally ship Sylki, it’d still be unfair imo to assume he only made Sylki endgame solely because he personally liked the ship. if he’s a professional writer, I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he had other reasons behind his writing choices that had nothing to do with his personal feelings, since after all, the characters belong to Marvel, not him. so his personal preferences shouldn’t be the only factor in deciding which direction things should go. (to be clear, what I mean is: it’s perfectly okay — and it is a good thing — to write a story based on how you, the writer, personally prefer, but I don’t think he’d make Sylki endgame just because he liked it without any other reasons involved when it’s still Marvel’s show and he was hired by Marvel, not his show, if that makes sense.)

Top five pairings!
BLESS YOU for giving me an excuse to post about my Blorbos. 😍🥺🙏 You have my eternal love and gratitude. I know I write mostly Reader fic, but that is a very recent development in nearly 3 decades of fandom and shipping (and mostly due to my need for adoration of Andy Serkis). I am, at my heart, a hopeless romantic that loves good chemistry and potential and yearning and angst and two idiots finding each other in spite of everything.
That being said, this was SO GODDAMNED HARD, HOLY SHIT!! 😭 I went with my current Top 5 because narrowing it down was too much. And I'm sure I missed something obvious because my brain is a scrampled egg sitting inside of a metal colander.

💚🩵 QuiObi
(Qui-Gon Jinn x Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars)
***This is actually one I had in the 2000s, but the brain rot returned with a *vengeance* when I went to see the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace in theaters. I am even writing fic for it for the first time.

10 Questions for fic writers
Thanks for the tag @kcscribbler and @lokimobius !
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
22, which isn’t too bad considering I’ve only been writing fic for less than 4 months.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
90,309. Ooh, getting closer to 100k…
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Loki/Lokius, although I have written a mini-fic for Red Dwarf (Rimster ship)
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always always ALWAYS. Comments, even tiny ones, make me giddy. I reply out of pure, unadulterated appreciation that not only has someone read my fic, but they actually bothered to say something about it too. Such a buzz and deserves a thank you. I often end up writing more in my replies than the commenter wrote, hehe.
5. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
6. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope, but I’m probably open to it? Although in terms of logistics, the way I write fics isn’t conducive to a collaboration (i.e. tapped out on the Notes app on my phone, I’m not kidding 🤣🤣)
7. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Well obviously right now I’d say Lokius, because I’m hyperfixated and can’t see past that. A year ago I would have said Rimmer/Lister (Rimster) from Red Dwarf. Maybe I’ll say Lokius is my fave, but Rimster is my longest-running (since 1999!)
My Mulder/Scully hyperfixation pre-dates that, but I haven’t ACTIVELY shipped them in many years, I just love them from afar now, lol.
8. What are your writing strengths?
I’m not actually sure? I know I have strengths, but can’t really put my finger on anything in particular. I enjoy writing angsty hurt/comfort, so I’m probably not too bad at that, and I can be good at scene-setting and describing actions, gestures, etc, if my brain is braining sufficiently.
9. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’ve been saying until this past week that I’m 100% incapable of writing softness/fluff (without an angsty, pain-filled preface at least). Turns out it’s not so much I can’t write it, it’s that I can’t write it without being provided with explicit prompts from outside sources! So “coming up with fluff ideas and developing them” is up there as a struggle.
I also don’t have a good time with dialogue. I’ve had compliments on my dialogue a few times which is really lovely, but it does not come naturally to me at all, and I will often avoid making my characters talk a great deal.
10. First fandom you wrote for?
Red Dwarf! My first ever fic, and the only one which is not Loki. I half-wrote it in Jan 2023, then in March this year remembered it, dusted it off, finished it and posted it. I was terrified, but when I woke up to comments and kudos the next morning I felt like I was walking on air, so I dove into Lokius that same day and haven’t stopped. 🥰
No-pressure tagging @silentxsymphony , @mirilyawrites , and @impulsemuppet

my thoughts on lokius
[loki season 1 spoilers!]
season 2 is coming out in a few days (!!) and so i decided i’d write out my thoughts on lokius before it’s released. as a disclaimer, this is critical of the series, but not completely series-negative.
if lokius becomes canon in s2, i genuinely want to be happy about it. it would be amazing steps in queer rep for marvel to have a canonical lgbtq couple as the focus of the show (and i say this as a queer person myself).
but the way mobius and loki’s relationship was written seems to be only thought-out on the surface level (which is the case for a lot of the things in the show), and a lot of aspects of their relationship aren’t so great when you look deeper into it. i understand why people don’t notice and/or don’t want to acknowledge it — i was extremely enthusiastic about the ship, and i didn’t notice the problems either. to those looking at lokius with the most positive light, they have an amazing dynamic and are adorable and wholesome and all great things. so i get the hype, i really do (tbh, i shipped it so hard that several months ago when the problems were pointed out to me it ruined my week).
but even with how much i loved it, i didn’t want to just ignore any potential problems. so i distanced myself from the ship for a few weeks until i was in a better headspace to gather my thoughts.
first i’ll start with what was intended:
mobius is obviously intended to be a very kind and understanding character. whether or not the writers wanted it to come across as platonic or romantic, they wanted him to care deeply about loki. like loki said though: “no one good is ever truly good, and no one bad is ever truly bad.” the writers did give mobius at least one major flaw and a character arc, in that he believed in the goodness of the tva too much, but by the end of s1, he was all for taking it down .
you can see his flaw in the way he treats loki early on. sylvie’s been killing minutemen and stealing reset charges from the tva for a long time, and he wants loki’s help in finding her, so mobius does what the tva expects: he uses what he knows about loki to get them (somewhat) on the tva’s side. unfortunately, that happens to be psychologically breaking loki. compared to outright pruning from existence, which most of the tva seems to prefer, it’s no wonder he thinks this is the better option. (the fact that the show portrays this as a “therapy session” is a whole problem in itself, but i won’t get into that.)
things like this that mobius does early in the series can be explained by his faith in the tva’s mission. he didn’t agree with most of their methods, and he didn’t realize that even his actions (viewed by the tva as too merciful) were still significantly harmful, but he believed the tva ultimately worked for the good and safety of the entire universe. it’s not an excuse, but it could be forgiven in his later character arc when he realizes that he was wrong, regrets his actions, apologizes, and learns.
but then there’s the part when he puts loki in the memory cell.
i really, really hate that marvel did that. they easily could have had a very similar memory cell situation without having mobius be the one to put loki in there. (mobius could have left the room in anger, and then the guards or ravonna throw loki in there without mobius’ knowledge, for one example.) but instead, whoever wrote that plot point apparently didn’t understand how bad that was, and so it is, unfortunately, canon.
you might be inclined to say that it wasn’t that bad. because actions in fantastical situations can make things harder to distinguish, i’ll put a real-world comparison: one partner puts the second partner somewhere they KNOW that the second will get repeatedly both physically and verbally attacked. they do this simply because they think that they’ve been cheated on. even if they had been cheated on, that in no way excuses beating up the second partner, directly or indirectly.
hopefully you can recognize that as obvious abuse. even if the abuser later deeply regrets it and rescues their partner, the fact that they did it in the first place NEEDS to be addressed. i don’t know what exactly could repair a relationship after that, but brushing it under the rug and ignoring it won’t help. (and this is still abuse with a platonic reading of the relationship.)
if marvel hadn’t done that (and had handled mobius’ arc better in general) then there would be far less problems with the lokius ship. but since they did, us as fans have to figure out where to go from here, whether that’s writing or reading fix-it-fics or simply acknowledging that the problems exist.
hopefully the people running s2 are more competent and have figured something out to fix this. i really hope that’s the case. but it is marvel.
(sidenote: from things that tom hiddleston and owen wilson have said in interviews i’ve seen, i don’t think they noticed the problems either. maybe they have background context of things that aren’t in the official show but they accepted them as canon. or they just didn’t notice, like is the case with many fans.)

Let's unpack the last interview with the executive producer of Loki. He said it was never their intention to portray some romance between Mobius and Loki and I want to believe them... really. But I remember Eric Martin, the head writer, was very aware of the ship even before the second season was made. Then, he made a weird comparison between lokius and spirk, the mother of all the ships. So, there's no way Martin didn't know people ship Spock and Kirk in a romantic way.
But what is more funny to me is that they also say that Loki and silvye were a thing in this season... Because I don't see it. Sorry. Like , yeah maybe Loki loves her, but we never saw that Sylvie reciprocated his feelings. Like, this fucking writers aren't good at romance. I have to laugh. Even casual viewers noted that they toned down their romance. Then they were good at writing a "platonic" relationship.
And I thought this was because they're men. Like, they don't know how to write a romance (at least consciously). What a woman search in romance (sorry but even if there wasn't incest in the middle of this ship, Sylky still is the most boring ship of all the time). And above that, this season Sylvie was in the background. Like, they didn't know what to do with her. I even though maybe people above them told them to not put much of her on the screen. Like, I remember people hated the first season because it was more about her than the main character, Loki. But people loved Mobius and Loki together (and let's not forget that Kevin Feige told Eric to put Loki and Mobius in the episode 3 when the episode was leaning too much into ravvona and Victor timely).
I think they're good in "platonic" relationships because men only love men. And only want women for sex. Maybe I'm overreacting. But that's why they don't see it. They wrote a love story between Mobius and Loki, but because Mobius is a man, they can't see it.
And finally, I don't care if they aren't canon because guess what... Lokius is still the most popular ship of Loki, here on Tumblr and also in TikTok. That will haunt them forever. 🤭
And when the executive producer mentioned Loki's bisexuality I had to laugh. They don't want to piss the LGBT fans of Loki. Suddenly he remembers Loki's sexual orientation. And of course they didn't do anything with that because they don't care. They're just cishet men. 😮‍💨
Sorry, this is all over the place. And yes English is not my first language so...

gimme a sec i need to talk about this !!
so i saw a long ass reblog under an anti-sylki blog that started off as something like "actually loki & sylvie has good romance chemistry meanwhile loki & mobius doesn't have any romance chemistry at all"🤓– and in this moment i went "alright best frien i'm not reading all that" then went to block instead of arguing.
didn't try reading that bullshit of a post further either just to anger myself, i know better.
i especially didn't wanna argue cuz i think that was a child..??? (assuming from the miracoulus ladybug theme cuz no adult in their right mind enjoys that trash) but if i'm wrong that just makes it worse tbh, like grown ass ppl who srsly think toxic relationships should be the example of peak romance needs their brain to be studied fr.
i usually try to be respectful for others' opinion but i genuinely can't see where this opinion comes from.
makes no goddam sense to me.
maybe it's cuz i can't view things through a heterosexual lens, maybe not.
who knows?
but...(i won't make this abt lokius but focusing more on the "loki & sylvie" part) this made me wonder like...
what do sylkie shippers even post about?
no i won't check it out myself to spare myself from the headache but do they go "omg today episode's syIkie crumbs was so lovely dovely 🥺" and the crumbs in question is them disagreeing on almost everything and sylvie wanting to avoid loki as much as she can & constantly seeming to be angry at him.
sure, in s1 they did have a couple of cutesy romantic moments like being under blankets despite of them being supposedly immune to cold or the literal kiss but, it truly doesn't take a huge analyzation to realize that this "relationship" became one sided, even in that one little moment when they had to hold hands, sylvie immidiately goes "don't overthink it" like omgggsfg💀😭 and it's also clear that loki eventually got the hint, in ep3 he doesn't try to be with her anymore or gets emotional with her, he silently gave up.
not to mention loki avoiding to mention the kiss, when appearantly the two has nothing to hide? 😕
i don't know where this is gonna be heading off but if they randomly switch up after all this character & dynamic development then i have no hope for marvel's writing team cuz that would basically create a plot hole.
like aside from the psuedo-incest, that used to bother me in season 1 era but now i am concerned more about how this "ship" overall has no appeal, yet some of these ppl genuinely thinks it can work healthily between them and that ppl who are against it are just "petty that their gay ship isn't canon" when there's MORE to this.
in season 2 there's absolutely *nothing* happening with them that would make us, the audience, root for them to be together as a couple like i'm sry.
so yeah you can say i'm doing too much and too crazy over a fictional tv show (yes i know that babes i have full self awareness) but i literally cannot stress enough about how unhealthy it is to think that this is how a good romantic chemistry works.
based on a syIkie shipper's views: we could technically say that me + that one co-worker of mine who we always have disagreements on political stuff with & dislikes me for no reason is my "lover"... since we wanna pretend this is how love works 😀😀 no?

what are your favorite loki ships besides valki?
I had been working on a similar post that I left on drafts, so:
Valki. I came out of the movie theater shipping them because of their fight scenes, and that they're very good foils to each other. They're antiheroes that had to do awful things to survive with a bunch of trauma. Why did the Russos have to kill my ship in such a fucked up way? D: I was DEVASTATED and have still not recovered! I'm so fucking salty over this! I've never been so salty about a ship since Zutara not being cannon!
Frostshield (I feel like this is surprising knowing me and the fact that I've only watched the first CA movie. I love Lise's "Remember This Cold" fic series; it's so good I started shipping this). Probably one of my favorite Avengers to ship Loki with. I think they both know what it's like to be perceived as weak and feel alone, but they're so different at the same time.
Nebuloki. They have so much in common! Even Karen Gillan said she would pair her character with Loki. They might have met in Sanctuary.
Frostmaster. This ship is very good for Loki whump material and I love to put Loki through the wringer (Lise's dark fics, anyone?). The GM has God-like abilities and is a convenient obstacle/torturer for that reason. And the aspect of having to pretend to enjoy torture and all the mind games is good shit.
Frosthawk. It has Dracula/Renfield vibes. Fucked up and angsty. And I will find it funny when the thrall is like "Bitch, go to sleep. Eat something!" to his master who sucks at taking care of himself. I don't really care for Clint, but this ship is good for angst and fucked up mind control dynamics, and the occassional take where the thrall is like "Bitch, have you eaten?" to his distressed Master that sucks at taking care of himself. Reminds me of that post where someone was like "Loki forced his thralls unknowingly into caring for him rather than pure obedience."
Funnily enough I've only written Lokius and Sylki so far Out of spite because there were too many domestic fluffy human AUs for those.
