Something something something “the bite is a gift”. And there are positive side effects of the bite that we are shown, for sure. But we almost never see it actually given or offered as a gift (for those positive reasons or otherwise). Peter non-consensually bites Scott. His asthma is cured but that’s not why Peter bit him. Peter bit him to use Scott as a tool for his revenge.
Derek bites Isaac, Erica and Boyd for power and protection. And while he frames at as for their benefit, the truth is that Derek needed them more then they needed the bite. The bite the way Derek uses it in season 2 is the narrative equivalent of giving these kids a gun. Literally. The group we believe to be the people Derek is defending himself against in season 2 give crossbows and combat training to teenagers too. A (maybe) informed choice offered to desperate children is not a gift.
Even Scott has a selfish tinge to his reasons for biting Liam. His decision to bite Liam is a split second decision made because Scott is determined to save as many lives as possible. And while I think that’s admirable and part of the reason I love him as a character, it stems from his savior complex. Scott bites Liam to save Liam’s life but also so that he doesn’t add a name to the list of people he thinks he failed. The closest we get the bite being offered as a gift is Hayden. Whether she was dying at the end of season 5 or she just wanted it (it’s so unclear to me I did not get that), that’s the first time it feels like a character actually wanted the bite and asked for it.
idk is this anything?

Ellie Williams x fem!reader (wc: 1,156)
Synopsis: Ellie Williams married you, but her heart is occupied with someone else.
Warnings: angst??? arranged marriage trope bc i like to suffer. this is my first time to write a story, please don't mind the incorrect grammars.
pt. II pt. III
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
You should be celebrating.
Finally, the girl you’ve wanted ever since you were 16 years old married you. Of all people, you really thought you would never get the chance to be with her. After all, everyone used to say that Ellie and Dina were good together, and that they were each other’s soulmate. You can’t really disagree about that. You can see how both of them loved each other, and even if they broke up, you can feel that they cared for each other deeply.
So… why did she marry you?
Ellie and Dina broke up one year ago after a huge fight between them happened. Up until now, no one knows about it. Rumors say that Dina wanted to settle down, far away in Jackson, to start a new life with her and JJ. But Ellie couldn’t leave this town, especially her family, and Joel. Apparently, this caused them to break up eventually. Shortly after the breakup, Dina and JJ went and lived in a small town in Illinois. For months, Ellie tried to remain strong, seemingly fine and unfazed about the breakup with Dina. She went on to continue her life as if nothing really happened. For months, Ellie went on to continue the routine of drowning herself with alcohol, going home with a lot of girls, and throwing them away like trash. That was her life. And you just watched it from far away and you tried to avoid her like a plague. You liked her, but you don’t want to be her sex toy.
Until Dina came back.
After a year, Dina and JJ moved in with their old house in Jackson when her older sister, Talia, got sick. Since both of their parents died before, no one is there to take care of her. So she came back, and Ellie’s life became worse.
Her failure of coping healthily about their breakup started to show up when her mood became the worst. Ellie became a ball of rage, bursting into anger even in the smallest little thing.
“You should take a vacation somewhere else. Breathe fresh air, enjoy other things, just don’t…” Joel tightly shut his eyes, “...don’t turn into a fucking monster, Ellie.”
Ellie lifted her brows before chuckling sarcastically. “So that’s what you think about me now, huh?”
“Everyone does. They’re scared of you. Do you want JJ to also be afraid when he sees you?” Joel’s voice started rising.
Ellie looked at him pointedly. “Don’t bring him into this.”
Joel sighed. “I know you were still a mess, Ellie-”
“I’m not.”
“-But you can’t keep living like this.” He says, eyes softening at her. “Forget Dina and marry someone else.”
Ellie’s brows turned into a straight line. “Are you insane? The fuck?” She coughed out a ridiculous laugh.
“You should think about it. Y/N’s family is offering up a fortune if you marry their daughter. You knew her, right? Y/N?”
“Yeah… but-”
“Good. We can arrange a family dinner tonight.”
“Are you for real?”
“It’ll be great. Her dad and I were pretty close and he always brings up that his daughter may have a little crush on you. Apparently, it’s in her grandmother’s will that she will not inherit the money, or have her farms and businesses if she’s single. She needs to be married in order to have those. Her dad offered that you will share a huge amount of money if you married her. Ellie, she’s a pretty young lady. And both of you need each other.”
“Little crush?” Ellie repeated, her ears perking up at those words.
“Think about it, kid. You’ll like her, she’s a great girl.”
And yes, you are.
Ellie thought about it for a week. Sure, she heard some great things with you. You're a prissy prim princess and the daughter of one of the richest families in the town. She’s always seen you hanging around the diner sometimes, wearing your dainty skirts and dresses, with bows clipped in your hair. She’s seen you in different spots of Jackson, immersed in your sketchbook, or oftentimes, you’re painting different portraits and landscapes. Ellie was always fascinated by you, because you and her are… contrasting.
The first time you and your family went into their house for dinner, Ellie couldn’t keep her eyes away from you. You noticed it, and it somehow made you uncomfortable. So, the whole night while your parents and her dad were talking about the future wedding, you were just looking at your plate. Sometimes looking up when one of them says something funny, cracking up a small smile or letting out a silent chuckle. But you couldn’t look at Ellie.
Ellie noticed it. The whole night you weren’t even sparing a glance at her and it made her curious as to why you seem to avoid her. Did you know about her history of girls? Did you see her at the diner, drinking her ass off? Why aren’t you looking at her?
When the dinner was done, Joel and your dad stood up and went to the living room to talk further about the said wedding. Your mom politely excused herself as she went to the bathroom to have a quick touch up. And you and Ellie were alone in the dining room.
The one time you looked up at her, Ellie was mesmerized. But of course, she wouldn’t show it, nor would she accept it. You were pretty. Everyone was right. You are pretty like a precious flower; your eyes were soft and gentle as you stared at her. You are a precious gem. And Ellie is a master of destruction.
She couldn’t touch you. She’s afraid that you’ll break. And maybe you might.
“I’m sorry.” You said, kindly, as you looked straight in her eyes.
Ellie’s brows rose. “Why? You didn’t do anything.” She said, voice raspy.
Your heart beat doubled. “You didn’t have to agree to this wedding, you know. My dad proposed this crazy scheme to Mr. Joel and I feel like it’s all my fault.” You sighed.
“I will marry you.” Ellie says, determined. “Just… don’t expect that I’ll love you. We have to agree that you won’t fall in love with me, and I’ll assure you that I won’t bother you. You will get your grandmother’s money and land, and I will share your money. Both of us need the same thing and I don’t want you to think that there’s a single hope that I will love you eventually. Is that okay?” She asked.
You should be celebrating.
Finally, the girl you’ve wanted ever since you were 16 years old married you.
But her heart is with someone else.
“Okay.” You agreed, while staring at the small picture frame at the corner of the dining room.
It was Ellie and Dina kissing each other.

PERIODS — harry lewis
Tumblr media
pairing: harry lewis x fem!reader
warnings: periods… NOT REALLY A WARNING BUT YKKK, swearing, suggestive-ness, medication
Whoever said people your age couldn’t have sleepovers, could go and do one—because you absolutely fucking could, you and Talia proving said notion right now; your boys were off again, somewhere abroad for a sidemen shoot and leaving you and your best friend alone. Instead of getting all weepy and mopey (over a boy, never you) you and her decided to make the most out of the lack of testosterone—after you’d dropped your boyfriend off at the airport, all innocent smiles and pretty fluttering lashes, you’d zoomed off (probably breaking several speed limits) to get to your best friends new home.
When you got there, she’d opened the door with an excited screech despite expecting you and you returned it despite knowing she’d been the one to open the door. After of long embrace where she didn’t wanna let you go, you finally convinced her with the promised of pizza and brownies. Hauling your overnight bag in, you’d began your girly night—music booming, comfy clothes on, gossip upon gossip and so many laughs your whole body was in tatters as you made pizzas and brownies (admittedly, hers were better but she was literally Mario’s second cousin, it’s to be expected)
Food in hands and smiles never leaving your faces, you’d taken off into a race into a race for the living room (you won, obviously) and began your evening of movie watching—from 10 things i hate about you to It, then legally blonde and Tangled, and many more, . . .you had quite the night. However both of your highlights was when you discovered you both started your cycles on that particular day—before your boyfriends had left and around basically the same times: it had you both in tear inducing laughter for two minutes. You’d ended up taking a Polaroid of you both grinning while holding up Flow (the period tracker app) and showing you both having the exact same cycles.
Twins.
That was yesterday—now you were both lying in a miserable heap of pain and exhaustion in Talia’s king size bed, hot water bottles on your abdomens and remaining snacks being shovelled into your mouths as you both snuggled and occupied yourselves on your phones.
You smiled slightly when your boyfriends name popped up over TikTok but grimaced afterwards as your stomach turned horribly.
harry🤍

and you can’t punctuate, we all have are own flaws. anyway i hope ur good, we’re landing at 3, want me to pick u up anything?
You grinned wider, deciding to piss about.

harry🤍

harry🤍
she’d get you a shitty ring anyway i’ll get in simons lift home then and you can drop us off. … i love you, gotta go, see you soon gorgeous
me
love you too smelly 😜
You looked over at Talia at, miraculously, the same time she looked up at you and when she wordlessly showed you her phone, showcasing messages of her asking Simon for XXL pads, you gasped laughingly and showed her your messages to Harry. She made a shocked face before meeting your eye and you both burst out laughing, only to groan as you ached all fucking over.
“I hate being a women.”
It was now half two and while Talia was effectively making your day better—you both were still in immense pain. You’d migrated to every living room (you loved it so much, you could cry) and both had a sofa to yourself, Mushu (their adorable dog) was nipping at some toy from where he was sat by the telly. You both were on your phones for the most part, last nights episode of Love Island that you’d absently recorded now playing on the TV as you both munched away on the breakfast Talia got delivered—McDonald’s breakfast for you and she had a spiced cheesy omelette from this little breakfast place.
“When do you think Harrys gonna ask. .?” Talia looked at you from her place on the sofa, wiggling her ringed finger mischievously with a glittering smile, one hand still firmly against her stomach.
“Probably never.”
“Bullshit!” She shot back instantly, sitting up and pointing firmly in your direction as she ignored the pain she was in in favour of reassuring you. “Babe, you have not seen the way that man looks at you when he thinks no one is looking. Like, seriously, he has literal heart eyes for you and don’t even get me started on how he speaks about you. It’s like your the best thing in this entire world to him, really. Like you’re some kinda goddess or somethin’ he always looks so awestruck by you.”
“. .probably cause I cook him dinner.” You offered with a shrug, smiling lopsidedly, and Talia snorted with a head shake.
“Or you are his dinner.”
“I mean, he does—“
“Ah! WAIT, NO. Stop, no more, please.”
You grinned at her, sparing a wink before cooing at Mushu happily and urging him to jump up on you, which he did. Your entire demeanour seemed to soften as you wrapped your arms around the large grey ball of fluff.
“He’ll probably ask you soon.”
“Natalia.” You threw her a mock serious look and she put her hands up in a surrender motion, finding herself all too funny.
“What—have you seen you?” Talia retorted, faking a dreamy sigh as she readjusted herself on the plush material of her sofa. “I’d kiss you, marry you and fuck you. Repeatedly.”
“Miss Mar. . .” You jokingly trailed off.
“Have my babies?”
“I thought you’d never ask!”
“We should really do this more often.” Talia pouted at you, friendly love bright in her irises as she pulled her blanket more around her body. “I miss hanging with you, sexy bum.”
“Miss you more, baby cakes.” You winked at her dramatically, mouth falling open just like Fred Weasley and she giggled back at you, snapping a candid photo.
“Speaking of babies—“
“NATALIA HADDOCK.”
Approaching four o’clock was when your boyfriends finally rolled up—you and Talia didn’t actually notice at first, you were both laying down on the living room floor with Mushu next to you and a mediation video on the large screen, giggles slipping past your lips even as you attempted to be quiet. You would’ve sat up but considering your cramps. . .‘twas a no go.
“Keep your fake lips shut, Cruella.”
Talia squawked in offence at your comment but kept her eyes shut for the purpose of mediation, blindly lifting a manicured hand to swat at you.
In that moment, your boyfriends both walked through the door, trading odd looks at the silence in the home (if there was anything you and Talia were together, it was not silent). Simon lead Harry through the house, more confused than anything to where his fiancé was but when they heard whooshing sounds from the living room, they both stopped uncertainly.
Harry quickly picked up a random umbrella from where they were sat, just in case.
However, when you hesitantly stalked into the living room they didn’t expect to see both of their girlfriends laying sprawled across the floor in starfish position with a mediation video playing on the large TV. They both paused, trying to repress their amusement and Harry instantly got out his phone—zooming into you to take some photos.
“Feeling zen, yet?” Simon inquired.
“So zen.” You both confirmed, simultaneously.
There was silence for no more than a second before you and Talia both let out startled exclamations and sat up straight—immediately groaning out in pain after as your stomach cramped and ached (day 2 was your personal worst day for pain/cramps).
“Woah. Woah, woah.” Simon paused at the in sync groans of pain, “listen. . .I know you both have like, interlinked emotions but please don’t tell me you can feel what the other feels?!”
“Boy.” Talia gave him a deadpan stare.
“Help.” You urged your boyfriend, reaching out your hands expectantly and he rolled his eyes fondly as he walked over to you, large hands taking your smaller ones in his own and he tugged you up from the ground, one of his arms wrapping around your waist to pull you into him. “Hey stranger.”
“Hey.” Harry mumbled back, grinning widely as he pulled you flush against him, digging his head endearingly into the crook of your neck and leaving two swift kisses, your sweet aroma surrounding him and clouding his thoughts as you hummed, running your fingers through his short hair.
“No PDA in my house!” Simon exclaimed.
“Shush,” Talia tutted—unimpressed with her fiancé, “don’t listen to him. Harry, kiss my girl all you want just. . nothing more, preferably.”
“She’s not your girl.”
“Am I not?” You played clueless, faking a confused look at him before going to step over to your best friend, only for him to tug you back against him, large, muscled arms wrapping around your front to hold you back.
“Disgusting.” Simon blanched. “Do that in your own home, please.”
You and Talia both rolled your eyes in sync: you turned your head to smile up at your boyfriend, pressing a loving peck to his soft lips and then his bicep before gently tugging his arms off you, getting ready to say bye to your friends.
“Bye beautiful.” Talia grinned, her arms coming to wrap around you with a careful tightness. “I love you, let me know if you need anything—also, we should really really do this again soon. I love spending time with you.”
Feeling your heart warm, you smiled back at her genuinely. “I love spending time with you too, Lia. Next time we can make lasagna and cupcakes. . .the Tom and Jerry ones.”
Talia squealed slightly, pulling away from your hug to press kisses to both your cheeks and then your forehead.
“You’re the best. Miss ya’ already.”
“Missing you more.”
A few minutes later, you and Harry were finally out of the mini-mar household. Your boyfriend had finally resigned to carrying you when you had fully stopped walking and hunched over slightly in pain from your cramps—he’d sighed, like the tired boyfriend he was, then gently picked you up bridal style and ignored Talia’s obnoxious awes and how she took several pictures.
(She totally didn’t put them on her story)
“Spoiled princess, ‘s what you are.” Harry shook his head jokingly as he carefully put you down in the passenger side of your own car that he was driving cause you were in pain.
“Ain’t that the truth.”
He grinned at you, looking up through his lashes as he did your seatbelt for you, one of his large arms caging you in and the the other free arm reaching over your lower half to tug the seatbelt tighter. He looked similar to an angel in that moment—sun illuminating his features, those fucking blue eyes you were a sucker for and you felt a trail of sparks on the skin his hand purposefully brushed over.
“That tight enough?” Harry inquired, cheekily.
“So tight.” You responded with a snicker of your own and he rolled his eyes at you, tugging a strand of your hair briefly and you feigned a dramatic wince as he left you, shutting the door to your side and climbing in the drivers side.
You looked over, rolling down your window readily as you knew what was coming—when your car started to take off, Talia opened up the window closest to the driveway, popping out her head with a gorgeous gleaming smile.
“BYE BYE BEAUTIFUL, I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!”
“BYE GORGEOUS—SAME GOES FOR YOU, CALL ME!”
As you did the ‘call me’ symbol with your hand and gave her a dramatic wink, she giggled before ducking her head back indoors.
“Might as well date her.”
“Might just, y’know.” You smiled at him sweetly, turning on the radio for background noise like you always did, “Smells a lot than my current partner anyway?”
“He can’t be that bad!”
“No, really, he stinks of piss.”
“I beg you fu—“
He cut himself off, grin faltering as he heard you wince in pain, frowning softly as he looked over at you.
“Hanging in there alright?”
“Mhm.” You hummed, smiling tensely.
“I got you something.” Harry mentioned, peering over at you and when he saw you looking him with that adorably confused look, he nudged his head backwards and your eyes followed—landing on the Tesco bag in the backseat.
“My jumbo tampons?” You cackled to yourself.
“No—I did look though—“ Your laughter increased in volume, ignoring the aching pain overcoming you as best you could, “Oh—Oh. I see now, they aren’t a thing. You played me.”
“What? No, never.”
“I smell deceit.”
“I smell piss. Oh, wait, it’s just you.”
You giggled at yourself and while he tried to playfully glare at you, he couldn’t quite keep his smile at bay as he stared at you.
Curiously, you reach behind you and tug the Tesco bag from its space in the back, lugging it into your lap and opening it up—your mouth immediately pops open in an awww when you take in the two sets of cupcakes, your favourite chocolate bars, the sanitary products and some pain medication.
“Harry. .”
“Don’t mention it, I beg.” A sheepish crimson blush coats his pale cheeks at your tone and your evident heart eyes. Jesus Christ, were you pretty. He was so lucky to be able to call you his, that much he knew for sure.
“Thanks, handsome.”
“Yeah, yeah anytime man.”
You arch a brow.
“Anytime, love.” Harry corrects, flashing you an equal parts amused and sarcastic smile as you nod your approval to the changing pet name.
When you finally arrive back at your apartment complexHarry’s already out of his side of the car as soon as it stops, and then he goes over to you, opening your door and looking down at you. He lets at a dramatic heaving sigh at your doe eyed look, scolding his skin for flushing and heart for picking up.
Effortlessly, he takes the bag off your hands with one hand and pulls you from the car with the other, once you’re out the car he lifts you up easily with one arm and you wrap your legs around his hips, arms around his neck.
“Hi.” You mumble, grinning mischievously as your acrylics scratch at his beard.
“My pretty troublemaker.” Harry huffs affectionately, squinting down at your bright smile fuelled by mischief. “Don’t you dare bring attention to us, this is embarrassing enough.” He nearly whines.
You merely smile, a kiss to his cheek to tide over his anxieties.
The walk was going pretty smoothly, but as soon as Harry stepped foot into the elevator, another set of footsteps followed and his eyes shut miserably, leaning down and sighing into your neck hopelessly.
“Hi Effie!” You immediately perk up at the sight of the older woman—Effie was this sweetheart fifty six year old who lived on the floor below you and Harry, a vast lover of plants and animals with a hatred for men (you loved her, Harry was scared of her).
Harry barely refrains for niping at the soft skin of your neck in reprimand. Of bloody course.
“Hello dearie.” The older woman, hair a dyed purple shade and silver septum hanging from her button nose, greets you with a calm smile. Effie was evidently unfazed by the scene in front of her—if anything, she was proud that you were putting your man to work. “How are you today?”
“Oh I’m grand, Ef.” You smiled so charmingly that as Harry stared down at you, he almost forgot he was even supposed to be annoyed. “How are you? How’s Tia, I miss her!”
“I’m well, thank you, dearie. Tia misses you too, I assure you. Perhaps you come down tonight, I can bake us some cookies just how you like them.”
Harry paused, bewildered. Did his girlfriend just get hit on by a grandma?!
“I—“
Before you could even get a word out, the elevator dinged open to your floor and Harry wasted now time practically sprinting out with his arms possessively entangled around your frame; you quickly exclaimed a startled ‘bye Effie’ over your boyfriends shoulder before the elevator doors shut.
You quickly distracted yourself with how you could feel your boyfriends muscular biceps as he held you up, your acrylics took to touching and tracing them as he bounced you up further on his hip. You closed your eyes, leaning further into him and humming at the delightful scent of his cologne, the soothing vibrations of his body as he quietly chatted away helping to dull the aches in your own body.
“You alright there, y/n?”
“Never been better.” You smiled up at him and he gives you an amused one back, kissing your forehead softly as he finally opens the door to your shared apartment—once inside, he readily manoeuvres the both of you to the sofa where he carefully places you down, handing you the bag of food and your favourite blanket he spots on the lone armchair. “Thank youuu.”
“Spoiled princess.” He names again, but the smile on his face is enough to melt you despite his words.
Harry then goes into the kitchen as you try and adjust on the sofa more comfortably, face screwing up as a particularly harsh pain washes through you—your abdomen clenching. To distract yourself, you search through the Tesco bag and smile to yourself as you take out the first batch of muffins.
You mindlessly click onto WhatsApp, taking a photo of the bag of goodies and sending it to the girls groupchat with a little ‘make your men do this for you, pretty ladies’ and instantly being met with gushing from them all.
“Showing off my expert shopping skills?”
You startle—gaze flickering to your boyfriend who smiles at you, that smile he saves just for you and it makes you feel so special and warm every time. Your eyes dart over him, noticing the hot water bottle he now clutches (you love that hot water bottle—it’s got this absolutely adorable cover of a lama).
Fucking hormones, you think, as you feel a wave of emotion hit you at how much he’s done for you.
“Hey,” Harry noticed the quivering frown you now adopted and internally panicked, did I do something? Hot water bottle in hand, he hurried towards you, kneeling down on the floor beside where you were laying and twirling a pierce of your hair around his finger. “Hey. What’s wrong, love, hm? You in pain?”
“Yeah.” You answer him shakily, that’s not why your suddenly upset. “I love you.”
If he’s confused—he doesn’t show it, he merely smiles at you comfortingly, leaning in to gently press a kiss to your lips.
“I love you more.”
You smile up at him and his face softens completely at you—he’s so fucking in love. And yes, these thoughts of his are incredibly soppy, but, he couldn’t help it. The girl of his dreams, the love of his life, the prettiest person in the world, was currently staring at him like he hung the moon and the stars. . . he’d never tire of your beautiful face, your radiant smile that flustered him every damn time.
When you move so he can slide in behind you, he eagerly takes the invitation. He slots in behind you on the sofa, pulling you atop him with your back against his chest; he takes the hot water bottle, your favourite one, and carefully moves up your shirt before pressing it against your lower stomach and keeping his hands there to hold it in place, pressing a thoughtless yet meaningful kiss to the side of your head and you snuggle back into him.
“Oi, give me a bite.”
“Fuck off, it’s my scran.”
“Yeah—and who’s card did it make a dent in?”
“Our card, handsome.”
“. . . Spoiled princess.”
And that’s how you spend most of the rest of your day—intertwined limbs, goofy grins, soft kisses and joking insults.
(He’s never been more in love)

---
As the van pulled up to the massive estate, you couldn’t help but gasp. Charlotte laughed from beside you, taking in the property herself.
“Well, he’s never been one to do things halfway.” She chuckled, rolling her eyes slightly.
The home was the size of a small hotel and the property sprawled on for ages. You were somewhere in the Caribbean on an island you had never even heard of, it had taken three flights just to get there. Lewis claimed it was one of his favorite places on earth, but he's said that about more places than you can count.
“My girls!” Miles' voice came loudly from the doorway as you unloaded yourselves from the van.
You turned just in time to see the large man bounding down the driveway like a child, arms open with a massive smile on his face. He crashed into you while wrapping an arm around you, grabbing for Charlotte with the other. You both laughed at the aggressive affection as he squeezed you both tight. Anyone watching the scene would think it had been months since you’d seen him, not two weeks. He’s a lot like Lewis in the sense that he loves extremely, but he’s by far more open with it.
“Hello!” You laughed, your voice muffled against the tall man's chest.
When he finally let you go, he quickly moved towards the back of the van, collecting your bags.
“Heads up, Talia’s here.” He mumbled to the two of you, an unamused look on his face.
Miles had also not been a fan of Talia when he met her. You’ve never been sure if he noticed how she treated you, or if it was for an entirely different reason, but you knew for a fact he didn’t particularly enjoy her.
“Oh, we know.” Charlotte said, raising her eyebrows in an equally annoyed expression.
You couldn’t help but giggle as you all made your way toward the house. You took solace in knowing you weren't alone in your displeasure of the extra guest. Miles showed you each to your rooms and told you to come say hello to everybody once you’d settled in a bit. Before he left your room he pulled you into another tight hug.
“It’ll all be good, we’ll have a blast.” He said quietly into the top of your hair, planting a kiss there before making his way out of your room.
The bedroom was larger than yours at home, there was an attached bathroom and a large closet. In the middle of the room sat a king size bed that looked like it was made of clouds, it faced a balcony door, looking out over the Caribbean Sea. You had the feeling of not belonging for a split second, being surrounded by more luxury than you could fathom. You quickly had to remind yourself that if you didn't belong, Lewis wouldn't have made sure you were able to come. You really had to thank him again for all that he had done. You made your way into the bathroom to freshen up a little bit, hoping to splash away some of the long plane ride. As you got ready to go downstairs and greet everybody you heard movement in the hallway. You truly hoped it was one of your friends as you stepped out of your room, unfortunately you weren’t that lucky. Talia was walking down the hallway towards you, dressed in a bikini fit for Sports Illustrated. You understood why Lewis had been interested in her, he wasn’t looking for anything more than physical, and how she looked right now made it easy to look past her attitude.
“Hey.” You did your best to be kind, hoping to avoid any tension.
She said nothing, just looked you up and down and kept walking, making her way out to where you assumed everyone was. You rolled your eyes at her childish behavior and trailed along behind her, hoping to find your friends. As you stepped out the large door you were greeted by the sound of laughter and conversation, the warm sound like music to your ears. There was soft music playing as you looked around at the scene. Your friends were sprawled out on expensive looking patio furniture, facing toward the large infinity pool that showcased the beautiful view of the sea down below. Your eyes searched the group, hoping to find Lewis. You spotted him, over by a bar on the balcony, Talia already attached to his hip. As if he could tell you were looking at him his eyes found yours, a big smile gracing his features as he saw you. He brushed Talia off, much to her annoyance and made his way over to you.
“I was starting to think you’d fallen asleep up there.” He laughed warmly as he pulled you in for a tight hug.
Hugs from Lewis were always amazing, he would squeeze you so tight you almost couldn't breathe. His big arms completely engulfed you in the most comforting way, he would never let go until you did.
“Sorry,” You laughed as you pulled away, “just wanted to freshen up a little bit, long flights.”
He smiled in understanding before grabbing your wrist and pulling you along towards everyone. He had a habit of dragging you around when he was excited.
“Look who finally decided to show her face.” He announced loudly.
You were greeted with big hugs from everyone. The second that Lewis wasn’t next to you, you couldn’t help but notice Talias possessive touch had been returned to him. You weren’t sure if you were imagining it, but you almost felt like he looked annoyed. You decided to ignore her and catch up with your friends, some whom you haven't seen in quite some time.
The afternoon carried on uneventfully, everyone drinking and joking around. You had changed into your swimsuit, hoping to catch the last few rays of Caribbean sun. You had felt his eyes on you when you walked out of the house, he had Talia perched on his lap but his attention was fully on you. You wanted to be disgusted by the man but you couldn’t find it in you, instead you added a purposeful sway to your hips and made your way over to one of the lounge chairs. It didn’t take long for him to appear next to you, thankfully alone.
“I feel like I haven’t gotten to see you at all since you got here.” He said, placing his sunglasses on his face as he settled into the chair beside yours.
You couldn’t help but giggle a bit, “I wonder why.” You didn't look at him but you could see the confusion on his face in your peripheral
“What?” The confusion was evident in his voice.
“Nothing,” You pushed the topic aside before turning your head towards him with a smile, “How have you been? It’s been a while.”
His face lit up, ignoring your previous comment. He filled you in on everything that had happened over the last few months, talking about races, his new training routine. You couldn’t help but laugh as the beautiful man beside you rambled on like a little kid. He noticed your amusement, cutting himself off with a bashful look.
“Sorry, sorry,” He chuckled, seemingly embarrassed by himself, “it’s just easy to get carried away with you.”
He settled back into his chair, his head rolling towards you to keep eye contact.
“Okay, it’s your turn, I wanna hear every single thing that’s been going on in your life.” He then settled even further into his chair, crossing his arms behind his head as if he was getting ready for you to read him a book.
“Well, not much to tell really, life has mostly been work and more work.” You told him, glancing over at him.
“Come on, something must be going on in your life. You're young, fun, attractive, you can’t possibly be just working. You need some fun every once in a while.” He frowned over at you.
You couldn’t help but catch the comment about you being attractive, you knew he was just being kind but it still made your skin heat up ever so slightly.
“I did go on a date…” You trail off, waiting to catch some sort of reaction from him.
“Oh?” His tone is inquisitive yet almost harsh.
“Yeah, he kinda sucked though. He talked about himself most of the time, asked at the end of dinner to split the bill, and then still tried to get me to go back to his place. Needless to say I won’t be seeing him again.” You laugh to yourself, thinking about how much you had hated the night.
“Don’t, he sounds like a proper tool. Dickhead didn’t know what was in front of him.” He says gruffly before letting out a deep sigh, “Y/N, you can do a whole lot better than that. You deserve so much better than that.”
You smile over at him, “I know, that’s why I went home alone and blocked his number.”
He gives you a bright smile, extending his fist to meet yours, “Atta girl!”
You hear her before you see her, a loud scoff coming from behind the two of you. When you look up she’s partially kneeling on Lewis’ chair, clearing her throat obnoxiously.
“I could use a little help here.” She says in an annoyingly sultry tone, waving a bottle of sunblock in the man's face.
Lewis lets out a small huff, so quiet you could have easily missed it before pushing himself up from the chair.
“Yup,” His tone comes out clipped before turning back to you with a gentle smile, “I’ll see ya in a bit, yeah?”
You return his smile, simply nodding before he’s trailing off behind Talia like a lost puppy.
You didn’t end up seeing Lewis at all for the rest of the night, only during dinner with everyone while his attention was directed elsewhere. You only knew he had gone to bed when you heard her calling out for him later in the night.
“Lewis,” her whiny voice carried through the large house, “come to bed! I’m lonely!”
Miles rolled his eyes so aggressively at that, you worried they might get stuck in his head. At least you weren’t the only one who was disgusted.
. . .
The next day was spent down at the beach, the water was so clear you almost couldn’t believe it was real. Lunch and drinks were packed in various coolers as everyone toted their way down the narrow path to the sand.
“Holy shit.” You mumbled to yourself, stopping at the bottom of the trail, causing Lewis to almost run into the back of you.
You only realized you had blocked him rather abruptly when you heard his warm chuckle right behind you, much closer than expected.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it.” He said quietly, placing his hand on your back, guiding you forward slightly so you were no longer blocking the path.
“It’s stunning,” you said, eyes wide as you turned toward him, he was still close to you, standing just by your side, “thank you again, so much. I really never thought I would ever be somewhere like this.”
He shook his head with a soft smile, “No need to thank me Y/N, this trip wouldn’t be the same without you here. Besides it was me being a bit selfish, I missed you.”
You couldn’t help but blush slightly at his comment, you had missed him too but to hear him admit it made you feel some type of way. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it. You always felt honored to be the recipient of his attention in any way, much less his affection.
“Come on, it’s even better up close.” He said, grabbing your hand and pulling you along toward where everyone was already setting up blankets and umbrellas.
You could feel Talias eyes on you but you did your best to ignore it. Lewis is an adult and he is allowed to interact with his friends, she doesn’t own him. As far as you're aware they’re not even really together.
You dropped your stuff next to where Charlotte and Miles had put their own. Miles hadn’t wasted a minute, bounding toward the water like a lanky child before throwing himself into a large wave. You and Charlotte exchanged a look before bursting out in a fit of laughter.
“We’re friends with absolute man children.” Charlotte said through her laughter, shaking her head as she went to lay down her blanket.
“Maybe, but you love us.” Lewis piped up, a cheeky smile on his face, teeth on full display.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, you keep telling yourself that grandpa.” She sends back at him, sticking her tongue out.
“You watch it young lady, I’m only two years older than you. You’re gonna be just as ancient as me soon enough.” His tone is playfully stern and he can only hold his fake scowl for a second before breaking out into a big grin.
Out of the corner of your eye you see him settle down on the blanket next to Talia as he takes off his shirt. They look like they’re ready for a photoshoot, two perfect bodies on the most perfect coastline. You turn your attention back to laying out your own blanket as he turns his attention toward her, talking quietly in her ear. She lets out an annoying giggle, one that seems to be more for show and less a reaction to whatever he just said.
“Alright, y'all are boring, who’s coming in here with me?” Miles shouts out from the water before falling back into another wave.
“Gimme just a sec.” Lewis hollers back, moving to stand up.
Daniel is already making his way down to the water and Charlotte is taking off her cover up, ready to head down herself. You do the same, putting on some sunscreen and tying back your hair.
“Come on, just for a few minutes, the water here is incredible.” You hear Lewis attempting to persuade Talia into the water.
“No, I told you, I don’t swim.” She half scoffs at him.
You almost want to roll your eyes, it would be such a shame to miss out on the beautiful sea. Lewis is shrugging as you turn toward him, obviously not in the mood to try any harder.
“Y/n?” He says, you can tell he meant to say more but stopped short when he saw you. Even through his sunglasses you can tell he’s checking you out much more than he should be, especially with the company sitting just behind him.
You’re not wearing anything particularly fancy, just a black bikini that you’ve had for a few years. It has the most support of any that you own and buckles instead of ties so you figured it would be best for the ocean. You raise a slightly accusing brow at him, urging him to continue.
He shakes his head ever so slightly, breaking himself out of what seemed to be a trance, “You comin’ in?”
“Hell yeah.” You say enthusiastically, jogging toward the water without waiting to see if he’s following. He appears at your side rather quickly, much more adept to running in the sand, or really running at all. You both slow down slightly. Once you're sure you’re far enough away you mumble to him “She’s fun.”
He looks at you with a small smirk but still manages to look like he's reprimanding you, “Leave her alone, it doesn’t matter.”
Once you’re close enough to the water that the tide is lapping at your toes you let out a shriek. Two large arms have wrapped around your torso from behind, picking you up in the air. He’s now running at full tilt into the water.
“Leewiiiisssss.” You scream out through a fit of laughter.
Just as his name comes out of your mouth, he’s throwing the two of you directly into a wave, the water completely engulfing you both. As you come up, sputtering slightly, you’re still in his arms. You free yourself, turning around to slap him in the chest before pushing your now drenched hair out of your face.
“Warn a girl next time.” You curse at him, still blinking the salt water out of your eyes.
You're met by nothing but boyish laughter as he takes in your slightly distraught state, “Aww it’s okay, you won’t melt.” He fakes a pout at you, making you flip him off before turning to swim over to where everyone else is, laughing themselves.
You don’t make it very far before the same arms from before are wrapping around you again, facing you toward the shore as another large wave crashes over the two of you. You managed to prepare yourself for it a little better than the last, this one actually making you laugh.
“Sorry, didn’t have time to warn you for that one.” Lewis says into your ear, his voice quiet and light. You can feel his warm breath against your skin, making you shiver despite the sun and warm water. You detach yourself from him, very aware that everyone can see you.
“My hero, thank you sir.” You tease him with his title as you swim away.
He follows after you, joining the rest of the group. Everyone swims and plays around for a good hour before deciding to head back up to the beach. Lewis and Miles share a look before Miles grabs you, pulling you further down the beach.
“So Y/N, Lewis and I have decided we’re gonna teach you how to surf.” Miles announces proudly
“Oh, hell no.” You start to protest, trying to pull away.
Lewis has already made it up to a part of the beach where you see an array of surfboards and kayaks that you can only assume belong with the house he’s rented. You see him selecting the perfect board, not paying particular attention to your dismay.
“Yup, sorry, it’s ain't up for discussion.” Miles simply shrugs, still pulling you along.
It takes them only a few minutes before you’re caving, they’re both well aware that you rarely say no to them.
“We already worked on your stance while we were in Malibu, now we’re just gonna try that in the water.” Lewis says as if it's the easiest thing in the world.
“Just watch and learn baby, watch and learn.” Miles is yelling out as he's already jogging toward the water, surfboard under his arm.
You watch miles paddle out, trying and failing to catch more than a few waves making you laugh slightly. You can feel your nerves subsiding a little bit but they’re definitely still there. Lewis can tell, he sees the tension in your body.
“C’mere.” He says, his hand outstretched towards you, gesturing for you to come to the board he has laid out in the sand.
You do as he says and let him arrange you on the board in the proper stance, so you can remember what he taught you almost six months ago.
“So you want to bend your knees and lean into it a bit.” His voice is soft and reassuring, he places his hands on your hips, pulling them back slightly to get into the proper position.
His hands are large and warm on your bare skin. As he pulls your hips back you notice how close he’s been standing, your ass just barely grazing over the front of his swim trunks. It's only a moment but you notice it, making you gulp. He must notice it too because he’s immediately stepping back as he clears his throat.
“Looks good, it's all about balance, you’ll be fine.” His tone is shorter now, but still offering the slightest bit of comfort that you need.
The boys finally get you out into the water after showing you multiple times how to push yourself up on the board. You had thought surfing was supposed to be relaxing, Lewis always explained it as his form of meditation, but the more you run drills with them the more you realize it’s a proper workout. You know you must look like a sweaty mess as you all head into the water. Lewis shows you a few times again how to work with the board in the water before you’re being sent off to try it on your own. They both watch, sitting back on their own boards, as you try and fail multiple times. You’ve wiped out more times than you can count and only managed to actually get up on the board twice.
“It’s not gonna happen guys, I’m not meant for surfing.” You call out to them as you struggle your way up onto your board once more.
“Come on, it’s your first time, it takes some getting used to.” Miles tries to cheer you on.
“Look, there’s a perfect wave coming in right now. We’ll take it with you.” Lewis offers, paddling his way over in that direction.
You’re still not quite sure how you managed to pull it off, but somehow it did end up being the perfect wave. You managed to get yourself up and ride it a short distance, it was maybe fifteen seconds but you were proud.
“She did it, she fucking did it!” Miles is already cheering as you make your way toward the shore.
Lewis quickly scoops you up in a big hug, pressing a big kiss to your cheek. It’s not an uncommon thing for him to do but it still makes you rather flustered. He places you back down giving you a big high five.
“Seeee,” He draws out in a teasing tone, a big smile on his face, “we knew you could do it.”
“Well I barely did it, but that was a ton of fun.” You laugh, overjoyed that you managed to do it at all.
“Barely is better than not at all.” Miles says, clapping you on your back.
“Come on, let's go cool off and then we can head back over to everybody. We’ve accidentally abandoned them.” Lewis says with a laugh.
The three of you make your way back into the water, floating your way over closer to where your friends sit. Miles makes his way back up to the group quicker than you and Lewis, the two of you bobbing around in the beautiful water a few minutes longer.
“See, this is what I mean,” He starts, looking up at the clear sky with a squint in his eye before looking back to you, “today wouldn’t have been nearly as fun if you weren’t here.”
“What a sap.” You tease him, shaking your head.
“Nah, Y/N, I mean it. I’m really glad we met you.” His voice is sincere, his eyes holding so many more emotions than you can even try to decipher.
“Me too.” It’s all you can really say but you truly mean it, you’re so grateful for this little chosen family you’ve become a part of.
You could tell Talia was in a mood as you made your way back from the water. Lewis simply throws a towel at you, making her roll her eyes. You noticed how she moved away from him as he settled down onto the blanket next to her. She seemed jealous. You could hear her whispering to him in a harsh tone but you couldn’t hear what she was saying.
It didn’t take very long for Lewis to stand up and start packing their things, announcing that they were heading back up to the house and they would see everyone later. You heard Daniel make some off handed comment, telling them to use protection. You didn’t hear either of them respond, assuming Lewis had chosen to flip him off instead. The rest of you chose to stay down on the beach for a little while longer, waiting the short while until the sun started to set.
As you made your way into the house you could already hear the yelling, everyone exchanging uneasy glances as you headed toward the kitchen to unpack your coolers.
“If you want to fuck her so bad why the hell am I even here?” Talias shrill voice cut through the house loudly.
“Jesus christ, she’s one of my closest friends. How can you not understand that?” Lewis was harsh in his response.
You glanced at Miles, unsure of what to do. There was nowhere to go to avoid listening to their conversation, if that's what you could even call it. He shrugged back at you, equally unsure of how to navigate the situation.
“You think I’m a fucking idiot? I see how you look at her, she gets all of your attention any time she’s around. You think I don’t notice?” Somehow Talias voice has managed to get even louder, “And what the fuck was that with you two in the water, huh? All giggly and flirty, like she doesn’t know how to swim? Showing her how to surf just so you could touch her?”
“I haven’t seen her in months and I barely got to even speak to her yesterday because you were jealous. Anytime I was even remotely close to her you found a way to pull me away.” Lewis is fully shouting now, something you have never heard from him in nearly two years of friendship. Sure you’ve seen him upset, but never have you heard him yell at anything other than a football game he was a little too invested in.
You can feel your friends glancing at you sympathetically. It’s not lost on anyone that they’re arguing about you. Everyone is trying to busy themselves, starting on making dinner, but it’s barely working, everyone is interested in the fallout of the fight happening down the hall.
“She’s a fucking gold digging bitch, how can you not see that? She wants to fuck you just as much as you evidently want to fuck her, so why don’t you go right ahead. She’s just as much of a whore as all the other ones you seem to keep in rotation.” Talia spits back at him, scoffing at the end.
You widen your eyes, frozen as you hear the way she's speaking about you. You feel Miles come up next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you in against him.
“Don’t listen to her, we love you.” Miles mumbles into the top of your head, pressing a kiss there.
“Don’t you dare, ever, speak about her that way again. I fucking mean it. I’d also keep in mind that you're, as you say, part of my rotation.” Lewis’s voice comes out harsh, threatening, “I want you gone.”
“Oh you want me gone? She’s the one that shouldn’t even be here, I paid for my ticket here, we all fucking know she weasled cash out of your pocket for a nice vacation.” She just about screams back at him.
“Gone. Now.” His voice is icy, sending a chill down your spine. That’s not the Lewis you know.
You can feel your eyes start to well up as their bedroom door slams. Lewis appears at the end of the hallway, still in his swim trunks from earlier. He quickly looks around the room as everyone stares wordlessly at him. He doesn’t meet your tear filled eyes, almost grimacing when he sees your face but saying nothing.
“Lewis-” Charlotte tries to speak before getting cut off.
“I’m going on a run.” He says abruptly, already walking away from the kitchen toward the front door.
He’s still barefoot and shirtless as he walks out the front door, slamming it hard behind him. The silence in the house doesn’t last long as you hear more commotion from the bedroom at the end of the hall. She’s swearing to herself and it sounds like she’s dropping things. It doesn’t take long until Daniel see’s her down the hallway.
“What the hell are you doing?” He shouts, already making his way down the hall.
This quickly gets everyone's attention, straining to look where he’s headed. You see her with an arm full of her stuff, making her way toward your room, throwing things into the doorway.
“If she wants him so fucking bad, she can fucking have him.” Talia screams back at him, not stopping for a second as she makes her way into your room.
This quickly catches both yours and Miles’ attention, heading down the hall yourself. When you make it to your door you see her grabbing your things, throwing them into your suitcase. You can’t help but be confused. What the hell is she doing?
“Hey, chill out. Everyone’s just upset, let’s take a breather.” Miles is trying to reason with her but it evidently isn’t working as she continues throwing your stuff into your bag, still muttering to herself.
With your bag in hand, she pushes past the three of you, tossing your stuff into Lewis’s doorway. When she turns to face you all you finally see her cheeks are covered in tears, snot running down her face. She looks genuinely hurt and you almost feel a little bad but you quickly push it aside, thinking of all the things she just said about you.
“I’m pretty sure I heard Lewis tell you to leave.” Charlotte says from behind you, her voice calm but cold.
“Yeah? Where the hell do you want me to go? It’s almost eight o’clock at night, I’m kinda stuck here. So sorry to be a burden.” Her voice is riddled with sarcasm as she throws her hands up in the air.
She doesn’t wait for a response as she once again pushes past you and into what used to be your room, slamming the door shut and locking it. You stand there, outside the door, absolutely stunned. It’s not until you feel Miles and Daniel guiding you away, back towards the kitchen that you snap out of it, finally getting mad.
“What the hell was that? How am I the bad guy?” You ask no one in particular, heading towards the bar just off the kitchen.
“You’re not the bad guy, she’s apparently just bat shit crazy.” Steph pipes up.
It makes you feel better hearing that from her, you two have never been all that close and only hung out a few times. You always have a good time together but really don’t have much in common. So if even she can see that it's not your fault, that must mean something.
“I mean she’s certainly crazy, we can see that, but Lewis shouldn’t have brought her here if was just gonna flirt with someone else the whole time.” Someone else says.
“He’s not flirting with me, he’s just like that.” You try to defend yourself, and him.
Charlotte looks at you with sympathetic eyes, “Hun, he’s definitely been flirting with you. Yes, he’s flirty with everyone, but it’s different when he’s flirting with intention.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” You feel a little flustered at this point. A little embarrassed that everyone seems to know, confused as to why he would possibly be flirting with you, and almost excited that this crush you’ve had might just be reciprocated.
“Honestly, I’ve seen him flirt with countless women to get in their pants,” Miles starts, giving you an apologetic glance at his wording, “but it’s pretty rare that I see him flirt because he actually likes someone. Char’s right, the way he flirts with you is definitely different. And I love the dude, but it’s not fair to either of you.”
There are nods of agreement from your other friends and you feel your cheeks get hot.
“Okay, okay,” You put your hands up, trying to deflect away from the topic, “where am I supposed to sleep tonight? She just locked herself in my room and put me in a very much occupied room.”
“Well, I mean you could always sleep with Lewis and see where it goes.” Daniel says with a smirk.
It takes all of a second for Charlotte to make her way over to him and slap him on the back of the head, hissing at him, “Not the fucking time.”
“You can sleep with me, I know it’s not perfect but we can be cuddle buddies.” Charlotte says kindly, giving you a gentle smile.
Noone ends up eating dinner, dispersing from the kitchen rather quickly to avoid the awkward air that has set over the house for the night. You, Charlotte, and Miles end up in the living room doing your best to ignore the situation through means of alcohol. By the time eleven o’clock rolls around all three of you are more than tipsy and both Charlotte and Miles get up, ready to head to bed. Lewis still isn’t back and you can't help but be a bit worried. He would usually be in bed by now but he still isn’t even home. You send them both off to bed, telling them you’ll be up just a little longer. You sit in the living room in silence, nursing a drink, for almost an hour as you start to get drowsy. You try your very best to fight it off, hoping to stay away until Lewis is home, but you can only fight your exhaustion for so long.
As you drift off to sleep, the clock nearing twelve thirty, Lewis is still nowhere to be seen.

Chapter 10:
Tim finally broke the silence, “So, Jason, um- how have you been since you were resurrected?”
He cringed at himself as soon as the sentence came out of his mouth. He didn't know Jason before his death, and yet here he was being overly familiar with him.
He tries to correct himself with, “Sorry about that, um- it just that I’m a huge fan of your Robin, you were my inspiration and everything, I used to follow you around on your patrols when you were a kid and-”
Jason’s brain stopped working at “used to follow him around as a kid.” How long did B know about Tim’s existence? Did he already have a backup in case something happened to him? He wouldn't put something like that past Bruce, this was the man who kept notes on how to take down his closest friends in a fight.
Mostly he felt like a fool. A fool for trusting Bruce. He took advantage of Dick when he was grieving the loss of his family, he took advantage of Jason when he was homeless, and- “how would Bruce take advantage of a Bristol kid like Tim? He probably got everything he wanted.” The pit whispered in his ears.
Jason shook the green out of his vision and looked at the kid once more. Tim said he was following Jason and Bruce around on patrol, there would be no way for him to do that if he had attentive guardians, he was probably neglected as a child and latched on to his hero and the first adult to give him attention.
“It was pretty easy to follow you guys around since my parents were probably in an archaeological digs somewhere.-” Tim rambled on.
“Hypothesis confirmed.” Jason thought bitterly. As jealous as he was towards the kid, he was just another child put into danger by Bruce.
He cut him off with “Do you really think you became Robin of your own free will Tim?”
Tim looked up at him bewildered, “I’m not sure what you mean, Bruce didn't even know I existed until I forced him to make me Robin.”
“Tim you didn't force him to make you Robin, he manipulated you into becoming Robin, do you really expect Bruce, the world’s greatest detective, to not know that you were stalking him?” Jason spat out.
Tim drew back, “Of course he didn't know I was there! He didn't want me to be Robin after you died, but his methods of crime suppression became too violent afterwards since he didn't have a Robin to keep him in check! It was for the good of Gotham!”
Jason didn't know whether he should laugh or cry, “Tim you're a child! You shouldn't have to maintain a grown man’s emotions for him!” He should be doing normal kid stuff like going to school and hanging out with friends, not fighting criminals and ending up in life or death situations.
Tim stomach churned, of course his idol didn't want Tim to be Robin, he could live with Jason thinking that he was a poor successor, but he also seemed to think that Bruce manipulated him into becoming his sidekick, which was patently untrue. He had to correct it.
“Jason, I wasn't manipulated.” Tim gently stated.
Jason's anger burst out, unable to contain the pit any longer, “Of course that's what you would say! He has you wrapped around his finger! He doesn't think of you as anything more than a tool!”
Tim’s anger was reaching its limits as well, “Well, how is being Robin with Batman any more dangerous for a kid than being trained as an assassin under Talia Al Ghul!”
“Shut up! It's not the same!” Jason replied hotly.
Tim could feel tears pricking his eyes. So much for a calm talk with Jason, his idol.
That was when the door swung open and Talia appeared, “Aziz, take Jason to his chambers, I will meet with him later.” She walked straight up to Tim, gave Jason a look that meant that she would be back for him, and led Tim out into the hallway.
“This isn't your fault child, you shouldn't have put all this pressure on yourself to bring him back.” Tim tried to focus on her words, as the rest of the world blurred under his tears.

Talia giving her son Damian a hug for the first time
Talia: Damian, please don’t cry. Ra didn’t mean to break your toy.
Ra (from another room): That’s a lie! I would do it again!
Five-year-old Damian was in tears, finished wailing over his broken spinner toy. He rubbed his eyes, still sniffling. Ra’s Al Ghul had stomped on the toy after scolding Damian for "leaving his things all over the place," despite it being an accident.
Damian: I want akh (brother) Jason back!
Talia: I know, but he won't return my calls. Please, don’t cry.
Ra: Did you just say “please” to a child?! Handle him, or I will!
Talia: Father, I can manage this! - Damian, I promise I’ll get you a new toy, and we’ll put them somewhere safe so grandpa can’t break them for no reason again. It's... not your fault. It's not.
Damian sniffled and pouted at the sight of his broken toy. Talia’s heart raced at the sight of her sad little boy. She quickly checked to ensure her father wouldn't storm in; the door to the playroom was closed, and they were safe for the moment.
She sat down next to Damian, picked him up, and wrapped him in an awkward but comforting mom hug.
Talia (singing softly): You're my little tifl, yes you are. Mommy’s got you, don’t you cry. I am here for yo. I love you... Don’t cry... I love you and I'm here for you.
Damian’s tears began to fade as he hugged his mother back with a smile.
Talia (smiling): Did you like that?
Damian nodded eagerly, kicking his little feet in delight.
Talia: I liked it too. And I don’t care what Father thinks. Do you?
Damian tapped his chin, then shook his head with a bright smile.
Talia (laughing softly): I love you, my little tifl.
Ra's, listening from the other room, let out a loud groan for Talia to hear, but she merely rolled her eyes, holding Damian tightly in her embrace.

Recovery - Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Eminem x FemReader (Y/N) fanfiction
Summary : Y/N Comforts Marshall at the studio.
Tags : Fluff, Comfort
It was late and, by the time you got home, your friends were back from their date night.
There you are ! Talia said as you walked through the door. I was about to call the police !!!
Why the hell would you call the cops ? you asked.
Because it’s 3 AM, you were nowhere to be seen and you weren’t picking up the phone ?!  she replied in a serious tone.
You apologized when you realized you had put your phone on silent when you were watching the movie at Marshall’s.
Where were you anyway ? She quizzed you.
With Marshall, you said. We watched a movie.
Told you she was probably with him, Jamal said calmly.
Well he didn’t pick up the phone either ! she said in an annoyed voice.
She looked at you and a grin formed on her face.
So… Movie night, huh ? She asked.
Yeah, you said. Why ?
You’re wearing his clothes, she pointed out.
Jamal let out a laugh and you blushed in embarrassment.
I spilled soda on mine, you replied calmly.
Of course, Jamal said with a smirk.
First, he gives you his necklace, then you come home wearing his stuff, she continued with a smile.
Wait, he gave you a necklace ? Jamal asked, amused.
Yes. His sobriety pendant, Talia explain.
It’s a good luck charm, you pointed out.
They hummed and smiled at you, their arms crossed.
I knew you liked him, Jamal said with a smirk.
Of course I like him, you said. As a friend.
Friends don’t wear their friend’s clothes, he replied.
Come on. I wear Talia’s clothes all the time. And she wears mine.
And friends usually don’t give each other diamond-encrusted good luck charms, either, he continued.
He likes you, Talia said.
He is nice, you said as you rolled your eyes. That’s it. He wanted to wish me luck on my recovery and he didn’t want me to stay in soaking wet clothes.
They kept on smiling.
You had a good time, your best friend pointed out.
I did.
You’re smiling, Jamal continued.
I am, you confirmed. You guys are being awfully descriptive. Is this going somewhere or can I finally go to bed ?
We haven't seen you with a smile this big since… a long time ago, he said softly.
I smile all the time, you said.
Not like this, Talia said. You are glowing.
Maybe it’s the face wash I used, you shrugged in annoyance, trying not to let on.
She got closer to you and inspected your face. Her face changed into a triumphant smile when she inhaled.
You showered there.
How do you even… ? you asked.
You would never pick a bodywash with this smell. I know you too well, she said with a grin.
Well, as I said, I spilled soda.
Riiiight, Jamal said. Quit lying and spill the tea instead, girl. We have all night.
You groaned. They were your best friends, but they were also the most nosey, insufferable people you knew, especially in this moment. Still, you knew better than to kiss and tell.
Goodnight, you said firmly as you moved towards the stairs.
Sweet dreams, Jamal said with a giggle.
You sighed when you got back to your room and laid on the bed. It was indeed late and you were exhausted. You were about to drift off to sleep when Talia opened the door.
What are you doing ? you asked.
I’m here for the tea, she chuckled before closing the door and laying next to you on the bed.
Taliaaaaaaa, you groaned.
Please, please, please. You’re my bestie. Besties tell each other everything, right ?
Are we back in middle-school ? You asked.
YES. I just want to know about your night, she pleaded. Did you have a good time ?
I did, you said with a smile.
Em’s a great guy, she said. I knew you’d get along.
Marshall is pretty cool, you nodded.
Right. “Marshall”. So, what did you do ? she asked with a smile.
We watched a movie, you said earnestly. Us.
A horror movie !!! she shrieked. Did he reassure you ?
Who said I needed reassurance ? you asked cockily.
Please, you’re the world’s biggest scaredy-cat, she giggled.
He did reassure me, you said softly. But there’s nothing between us. We’re friends.
Why did you shower at his place, then ? She asked. And please, don’t say you spilled soda. Unless you spilled a whole jug, you wouldn’t need to shower. Especially if it’s just a movie night.
You sighed. She was your best friend in the world and you didn’t want to lie to her. On the other hand, you didn’t feel like telling the whole truth either. She saw you looking uneasy.
You can tell me, she said. I promise I won’t tell Jamal.
Fine, you sighed.
You spilled a few details, leaving a part of the story aside. You figured she didn’t need to know about the other night. You basically just told her that you kissed and he went down on you before you took a shower and went for a drive.
That sounds like a date, she mused.
Only, it wasn’t, you said firmly. We agreed that it’d be better if we stayed friends. We just got caught up in the moment. It’s not a big deal, though.
Just friends ? She asked in disbelief.
Yeah. I don’t think he likes me like that anyway, you said.
Mmmh. I disagree but ok, she said. How do you feel ?
Fine, you said. I mean, he’s really cool, I like hanging out with him. Friends is good.
Whatever keeps you smiling like this, she said. I missed seeing you like that, you know ?
Without warning, she engulfed you into a hug. She was the most affectionate person you knew.
Thank you for everything, you whispered.
Anytime, honey, she whispered back. Well, if you want to thank me… there is something you can do…
What ?
Spill the tea about Em. Is he good ? she asked cockily.
Talia !!!
Come on, it’s no big deal, she chuckled. Better than Simon ?
So much better, you said with a wink.
She squealed and clapped and, even though you were initially tired, you ended up talking until morning, like two middle-schoolers during a sleepover.
The next day, you went to the studio after you were done with uni. It was just Marshall, Jamal, Royce and Porter. They were discussing a track. You quickly hugged everyone and sat on the couch. You hadn’t slept and you were tired. You let out an involuntary yawn.
Are you alright ? Porter asked.
Yeah, you said. Sorry, I’m exhausted. I haven’t slept.
Got some action last night ? Royce joked.
You heard a shrieking noise coming from Jamal, who was trying to fake a cough to hide it. You shot him a death glare.
Yeah. Talia was in my room all night, you said with a mean smile. Had to give the poor woman something.
You’re such a bitch, Jamal said with a laugh.
Marshall looked at you with an amused smile and shook his head. He silently mouthed a “Thank you” and winked. You hoped Jamal hadn’t made any comment or grilled him with questions. Eventually, the guys stopped working and Marshall came to sit beside you while Porter, Royce and Jamal went to get something to drink.
I have something for you, he said with a smile.
You do ? you asked.
Yes. I made you a playlist, he explained. Your very own beginner’s guide to hip-hop. I selected some tracks for you to listen to. There's 2Pac, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Wu Tang… That’ll be a good start.
Thank you ! When did you have time to put that together ? You asked.
You’re not the only one who had a sleepless night, he chuckled. Spent hours trying to clean the damn couch.
You chortled, feeling the heat rise to your cheeks. He looked at you with a smirk.
Anyway, by the time I was done, it was either an hour of sleep or working on your playlist. And I do better on no sleep than one hour, he chuckled. So there you go !
He handed you a small USB device.
You know people use Spotify and Apple Music these days, right ? You joked.
The only reason it’s not a CD is because I’m pretty sure you don’t have a player, he replied with a smirk.
It’s true, I don’t, you chuckled.
It’s a shame, he said as he shook his head. You’ll never know how great it was, when you had something physical to hold on to, with music.
I’m not twelve, Marshall, you said with a laugh. I had a few CDs in my day. But yeah, that was short-lived.
What was the first CD you bought ? he asked.
You don’t want to know.
Come on, he said. I won’t judge.
Britney Spears, In the Zone, you said.
Ok, I’m judging a little, he admitted with a grin.
You chuckled and grabbed your laptop, inserting the device, saving the tracks in your playlist.
Do you want me to make you a playlist in return ? You joked.
I don’t trust your music taste, he grinned. But you know what ? Sure. Though I should tell you hip-hop isn’t the only thing I listen to. So make it interesting, ok ?
You nodded and placed the usb key in your bag. You pressed play on your computer and listened to the first song which was Keep Ya Head Up, by 2Pac. As the first notes played, Marshall immediately took your computer.
Nope, nope, nope, he said as he shook his head.
What’s wrong ? You asked, visibly confused.
I’m not having you listen to great music on shitty computer speakers, he explained.
He got up and picked a set of Beats headphones.
I could have used my headphones, you chuckled.
Those flimsy things ? Yeah, don’t bother, he grinned.
Snob, you said as you rolled his eyes.
You connected the Beats set to your computer and placed them on your head.
That’s better, you admitted. The sound is great !!!
I know, right ? He replied. You can keep those, by the way.
The others came back and resumed their conversation with Marshall, who threw glances at you as if to watch your reaction to the playlist. You smiled and closed your eyes to focus on the music. Before you knew it, you drifted off to sleep.
When you woke up, the room was dark and silent. You were laying on the couch, Marshall’s jacket placed on you. You didn’t remember falling asleep, but you weren’t exactly surprised. You were exhausted. Your eyes scoured the room, searching for the others but they were nowhere to be seen. You got up and went to the lobby, where you found Marshall playing one of the arcade games.
Hey sleepyhead, he said without looking at you, absorbed by the game.
Hey, you said as you rubbed your eyes and tried to get used to the sudden light.
After losing his game and grunting, he turned to you. He seemed exhausted and you figured that he wasn’t any better at dealing with the lack of sleep than you were.
What time is it ? You asked.
About 11PM, he replied.
Where are the others ?
They went home a while ago. I told Jamal not to wake you up, he explained. I figured you needed the sleep.
Thanks. Were you waiting for me to wake up ? you asked.
Yeah, he said.
You didn’t have to, you said as you shook your head. You look tired.
It’s fine, he assured you. I just finished working anyway.
This late ?
Yeah, he mumbled.
He groaned and stretched his back.
Is something wrong ? You asked.
Yeah. No. I don’t know, he sighed.
Want to talk about it ? You offered.
He stared at you for a few seconds and shrugged.
Paul called me a few hours ago. We’re having a few issues with sample clearing, he said.
What’s that ?
When you want to sample someone’s work you need to get permission, he explained. Basically, you have to ask the copyright’s owners.
Ok, you said as you took in the information. So ? What’s the issue ?
So, anyway, there was this song we recorded a while ago and I felt pretty good about it. Loved everything about it, really. Some of the guys even said it’s one of my best.
Yes ? You asked, not really getting it.
Well the copyright’s owners - not even the artist, but their heirs - don’t want me to use it, he said in an annoyed tone.
They don’t like what you did ?
Nooo, better than that, he said with a sarcastic laugh. They say they like it, but they don’t want me to use it. Because I’m Eminem.
You looked at him, waiting for him to elaborate.
They like it but they don’t like… you ? you said.
Exactly. Apparently, they think I’m too homophobic and misogynistic, he groaned. Like… what the fuck ?!
What ?
You know what’s fucking frustrating ?! he continued. The track is clean. Like, actually clean. Barely any swear words. No slurs. No killing anyone. No violence or shit. But because some people portrayed me as homophobic three lifetimes ago, they don’t want me to use the work.
That’s unfair, you said.
You think ?!
He groaned and punched the nearest wall. It was the first time you saw him angry. In the past months, you’d seen a lot of his emotions, but never anger. This sudden burst of rage startled you. You stared at him, unable to say anything. After a few seconds, he seemed to notice it and his face softened a bit.
Sorry Y/N. I didn’t mean to scare you, he said softly. I’m just… fucking frustrated.
It’s ok, you replied. I can tell the track means a lot to you.
It does, he said, but it’s not just that, you know ? It’s the way some people think about me. I usually don’t care, because I figure that, if they don’t like my music, all they have to do is not play it. I’m not offended by that. Not everyone will like me and that’s ok. But this… it’s worse because it’s preventing me from making music. You know what I’m saying ? I wanted that shit on the album.
You hummed and gently rubbed his shoulder. He gently leaned into your touch.
There’s no way you can persuade them to change their mind ? You asked.
Don’t think so, he said. I mean, if it were me, and I thought someone homophobic, racist or whatever wanted to use my work, I’d probably say no too, you know ? But…
But you’re not like that, so that’s even more frustrating, you continued.
...Yeah.
He sighed. You could see some genuine disappointment in his face.
As I said, I usually don’t care about this type of rumors or public perception or whatever you want to call it. But music… that’s the most important thing to me, you know ? That’s all I want to do, all I care about. Music.
You nodded and gently wrapped your arms around him. He returned the embrace.
Thanks, he whispered. Sorry for being grumpy.
I wish I could do something, you said.
This is good, he said softly.
He rested his chin on the top of your head. You mindlessly ran your hands in his back, in an attempt to soothe and comfort him.
I like that, he said in a sleepy voice.
You know what I think you’d like even more ? you asked as you smiled against his chest.
You’re not going to start teasing me, are you ? he asked with a small groan.
No, you idiot, you giggled. I was thinking about sleep.
I would like that, he said.
I’ll get my things and call a cab.
No need for a cab. I’ll take you home, he said.
Ok, you whispered.
You both grabbed your things and he took you home.
Thanks for taking me home, you said. And allowing me to rest at the studio.
Thanks for comforting me, he replied with a smile.
Anytime, you said softly.
Sorry you had to see me all grumpy…
It’s ok, you said. You have the right to be sad, hurt and whatever, you know ?
He shrugged and nodded quietly.
For what it’s worth, I think you’re pretty amazing. And I’m sure that, if these people met you for even 10 minutes, they’d be honored to have you sample their stuff, you added before planting a kiss on his cheek.
You think ?
Of course, you said with a smile. You’re the kindest and funniest person I’ve met.
Sexiest, too, right ? He asked with a smirk.
I used to find you attractive, you said with a smile. But then you showed me those awful pictures of you in the 90s. Now I can’t unsee it.
He let out a laugh and rolled his eyes.
I’m glad we’re friends, he said with a smile. You know… I don’t have a lot of people who comfort me the way you do.
Me too, you said softly. I’ll always be there if you need comfort, you know ?
You hugged him one last time and he planted a kiss on the top of your head. As soon as you entered the house, you grabbed your phone and checked your messages. Your heart pounded in your chest when you saw a very familiar name on the screen.

The morning after
Tumblr media
The next morning, John calls.
Simon and Johnny have left to get some food shopping in, allowing me some much needed time to decompress. I woke up this morning feeling... I don't know. Conflicted. Confused. Like the consequences of getting myself into this - whatever this is - are finally starting to land.
"Hey, Tali," John says softly, and I can hear voices talking in the background. A woman, not Marcella, and a man who sounds fairly pissed off. It takes me a minute to recognise that it belongs to Gaz. "How are things on your end?"
I blow out a long breath. "Everything's okay."
There's a pause. A long pause. An I-know-that's-bullshit kind of one. "Talia, come on. It's me you're talking to." When I don't immediately spill my guts, he adds, "If you won't tell me what's playing on your mind, at least talk to Winslow. Marcella, even. Or, if it's something that the boys have done, try and talk to them about it. They're far more understanding than they look."
My heart stutters in my chest. That's part of the problem. And, to add to that, I don't even know what's wrong.
In the past few days, I've gone from not wanting any sort of relationship at all, to wanting nothing more than to have both of them tell me that they want me. Not even that they love me - God knows that it's far too soon for anything that serious - but something. Any sign that last night was more meaningful to them than a couple hours of mindless fun with a brand-new toy.
But I don't know how to ask. And I don't kind I'm strong enough to handle the inevitable rejection. Not when I've grown to consider them as friends.
"I would... if there was something wrong," I grumble back. My eyes flicker around the empty apartment/ Maybe having some more company around would be a good distraction. "Can you and Kyle come over again, please?"
I can hear the smile in John's voice as he replies. "We're a little busy at the moment, but I'm sure we can sort something out for the weekend. We could watch some more of those God-awful military movies Gaz likes to rip apart."
I snort out a laugh. "Perfect."
We say our goodbyes and John hangs up, muttering something about an 'incident' that he needs to deal with. But, before I can put my phone down, I catch a glimpse of a missed call and a text message from Winslow, all while I was on the call with John.
WINSLOW SLOANE: Call me xx
I'm calling her number before I can even think about it, a sense of panic gripping my chest as I raise the phone to my ear. What if she'd been in an accident? What if she was hurt? Stuck somewhere in a foreign country with no way of me getting to her...?
"Hey, honey," Winnie says immediately, answering on the third ring. Her voice soothes my frayed nerves, so much so that I almost let out a sigh of relief. Just hearing her makes me feel lighter than I have all day.
"I'm so happy to hear your voice." It's only been a matter of days since we last spoke on the phone, but it feels like it was a lifetime ago somehow. Thank God she only has two weeks of her France trip left before she's back home again. "How's Paris?"
Winnie lets out a breathy laugh. "It's been... interesting to say the least. But it's part of the reason why I called." The cold feeling of realisation slides in as she elaborates, "It looks like I might have to stay a little while longer. Just while I help them sort some stuff out and tidy up some loose ends."
My heart seizes at the vagueness of 'a little while longer'. "Okay. How long is that looking?"
"Um... maybe an extra week."
"Oh." It's the only word I can think of.
"I know, I know. I'm really sorry, Tali," Winnie says, and I can hear the genuine sadness in her voice. "I'll be back in time for Alex's birthday though, I promise."
My gaze trails across to the calendar hanging up beside the kitchen. Just under a month. In four weeks, he would have turned thirty.
We would have thrown a big party; which would have pissed Alex off to no end. He would've grumbled about it for months, complaining that he's a private person, which is just a code word for boring, but secretly loving that I'd gone to the effort. Just like his twenty-first.
My heart aching in my chest, I say, "It's okay, Win. You've got to do what you've got to do, and I have the guys here to keep me company." There's a beat of silence, so I follow it up with, "And I'm going back to work, which I've strangely missed."
We both laugh at that.
"Anyway, how've you been?" I can hear Winnie settling in on the other end of the line. I find it more amusing than I care to admit that she's still so invested in what's going on back here while she's living it up overseas. Despite it being a work trip, I've seen her Instagram posts. She's thriving over there.
"I've been good. But there is something you might be interested to know."
Winnie giggles. "Oh? Please enlighten me."
A mischievous grin forms on my lips. "I slept with them. Both of them."
There's a long stretch of silence. It's a pause so long that, for a minute, I think the call might have dropped.
"Winnie? You still there?"
She coughs, spluttering for a second. "Still here. Just stunned into silence because... wow! You really did it? With both of them? How did that even work? What was it like? I have so many questions, Tali! You can't just drop a bomb like that than and not expect me to have questions!"
A laugh slips past my lips, dissolving into a burst of laughter. "It was something new. But it was fun. They didn't take everything all serious and alpha like some guys probably would. They made it fun, we laughed about stuff, and the aftercare was perfect."
"10 out of 10 would recommend then?"
"I would," I reply, letting myself smile. Despite all of the conflicted feelings I have about what happens now, it doesn't in any way diminish how unwaveringly happy I feel thinking about last night.
We talk a bit more - mostly about all of the interesting people Winnie has met in Paris, the new places she's seen, and all the restaurants she's tried - before she has to go. We say our goodbyes and I promise to call her in the morning on my way into the office. Not long after, I hear the sound of the spare key turning in the lock, and I look up to see Johnny nudging the front door open.
He's beaming, a broad smile on his face and two overflowing shopping bags in his hands. Simon follows him into the kitchen, carrying the other three. He nods to me on his way past, a black surgical mask covering the lower half of his face.
"Want to help us with the meal plan, princess?" Si calls out from the kitchen.
Huh?
I follow them through into the kitchen to find Johnny leaning over the counter with a piece of paper and a pen, as Simon dutifully unpacks the bags. Johnny takes one glance at the questioning look on my face before offering me one of his most charming smiles. "Me and Si were talking. Did'nae think it's fair for ye to be doing all the cooking, not when ye're going back to work now. And we eat most of it."
A frown forms on my lips. "I didn't complain about it."
Si turns around now. "We know, but we don't think it's right. You do a lot for us already, darlin'. Just let us do something for you."
I try not to blush as I fold my arms across my chest. "Fine. Okay."
Johnny grins. "So, what do ye want on Monday?"
Tumblr media
After dinner, we settle in to watch TV in the living room. I fold myself into my armchair, letting Johnny and Simon cuddle up together on the sofa.
It's hard not to keep glancing over at them; even harder to hold back the un-earned feeling of jealousy that keeps nipping at my heart. They're a couple. They're allowed to act lovey-dovey in the privacy of their own home.
Home. Thinking about that makes it even worse. At some point - when all of their army drama blows over - they're going to leave.
Logically, I know that. I know that me, them, and Winnie can't all live in this two-bedroom apartment together, but it still stings. It's irrational, and I know it.
I watch as Simon runs his fingers through Johnny's hair - the Scotsman all but asleep with his head in his partner's lap - as I swallow down the growing resentment. Bitterness coats my tongue, and I swallow thickly.
Simon looks over, because of course he does, with a questioning look of concern. Mask-free, it's all too easy to see his expression now. It almost hurts to look at his face; to know just how beautiful he was.
I shake my head and close my eyes, kicking myself for being so stupid about this.
We're all grown-ups. We agreed to have sex. It was one night.
But then why does my chest burn when I think about them, like someone's trying to squeeze the life out of me?
"You alright, love?"
I nod, my eyes still firmly shut. Why did I do this to myself? Let myself have a taste of the one thing I can't have from them?
"Hey, love," Simon calls again, voice laced with something I can't place. "Open your eyes for me, yeah?"
So, I do. I open my eyes and level him with the blankest expression I can muster. "I don't feel well. I'm going to go for a walk," I say, thankfully giving no hint of my emotions. "I'll be back before midnight."
His hazel eyes harden. "Not on your own you're fucking not."
I wince, but something in my resolve strengthens. "You can't tell me what I can and can't do."
"I'm not telling you what to do," he growls. "I'm saying it's dark out, it's cold as fuck, and I'm not having you out there alone surrounded by a bunch of creeps while I sit in here like a lemon."
We stare at each other for a long, long time.
Uncharacteristically, he breaks the silence first. "Just let me put Johnny in our room and I'll come with you." He nods to the dead-weight of a completely knocked-out Johnny's cheek resting on his muscular thighs.
My temper flares. "I didn't invite you."
I can feel Simon battling his anger from here. I also get the distinct impression that if I was anybody else - other than Johnny - I'd have already received the bollocking of my lifetime for being so damned difficult right now.
"The only way you're leaving this flat tonight, princess, is if I'm with you," he grumbles, hazel eyes dark and unwavering as he pins me with a glare. A glare that tells me Ghost is back. "I'll lock you in your room to keep you safe if I fucking have to."
I match him with a fierce glare of my own. "Why do you fucking care?"
That seems to take him aback. His eyes soften, the harsh line of his mouth pulling down at the corners, making the scars around it all the more apparent. "Of course I care."
"But why?" A hollow laugh slips past my kips and I spring up from my armchair, starting to pace in front of the TV. I'm completely aware that I must look borderline hysterical as I look at him with wild eyes. "I'm just one of the many, many women you two have fucked. Why do you care if I want to go walking at night? If I cook dinner?"
Simon's frown deepens. "That's not what this is. You know that."
"Really?" I gesture wildly to Johnny, who's still blissfully unaware of what's happening. "All night you've been cuddled up, while I've just sat here and... and watched you. Do you know how much that hurts? After last night when you made me feel so fucking included? And now you're back to making me feel like an outsider." The words spill out of their own accord, frantic and rushed as I feel the tears start to roll down my cheeks. A broken-sounding laugh bubbles up from my throat. "I've spent all day telling myself I wouldn't do this because it's so fucking embarrassing. It was one night, and now you're both going to think I'm crazy."
Si stares back at me and the expression on his face is so heartbroken that it hurts. "I... we didn't know you'd see it like that."
My heart cracks in two inside my chest. The tears pour even faster as I glare down at my slipper-covered feet.
How could I be so reckless? I've just ruined everything.
"Tali, can you come here please?"
My eyes trail back to Simon. To his hand patting the tiny space on the sofa beside him - the side not occupied by Johnny, soft snores pouring out of his mouth like cats' purrs. My feet carry me across the room. I slot myself into the gap beside Simon, trying not to let any part of my body touch his. Preparing myself for whatever it's not you, it's us speech that is inevitably coming.
Tumblr media

I've seen a piece of fanart about the in-universe Gothamite's guide to ships Bruce is part of and it got me thinking about that with the albatross duo (who are looped together cause have u seen them interacting with each other. like they'd ever break off their bond). The average Gothamite discusses the duo's potential/speculative third on at least a bi-weekly basis cause there's literal no other gossip in the god-forsaken city-
I think the most popular person that they're shipped with is Harvey- both pre & post Two-Face. Older Gothamites remember seeing the three of 'em running about the city when they were all pups and younger ones saw pictures and tabloid articles about Harvey and Bruce and R. Post Two-Face tho... it's childhood friends + doomed lovers and just tragedy all around so it's still a popular ship I think.
Some other ships include- one with that Metropolitan Journalist, Clark Kent- who's the only one to have gotten an interview with both their pathetic lil mew mew Bruce Wayne and his knight R, at the same time. And the fact that he left the grounds of R's mansion wearing very different clothes from when he first came to the city really didn't help. (Batman needed help from Superman for a thing, and one event led to another and ruined all of Clark's clothes. It was only by pure chance that R had spare clothes in the man's size in the storage.)
Another one is with Batman, the city's Dark Knight. Now, R and the Bat think they're being subtle but everyone knows they chase each other across the city's roofs. Some people speculate that R's being unfaithful to Bruce but that's like a minority opinion (Alfred laughs at that when he unwittingly comes across those kinds of posts).
Post JL formation though, the duo- as they're the main investors for the League ofc- would get shipped with. So. Many. Of. The. Heroes. Superman? Yeah, everyone's seen the way he carried Bruce Wayne out of a building princess-carry style. And the way he caught R whilst they were falling from a high place. Wonderwoman? She curls around protectively around the both of them during press conferences. The Green Lantern? The Flash (Barry and R have a laugh at that)? They all play into it tho. Maybe there is an underlying attraction there somewhere or maybe they're focusing the attention (of being many superheroes' 'weaknesses') on R + Bruce bc they can protect themselves.
Post Damian introduction tho, I feel like Talia would become more and more of a popular candidate for their third. She does linger around Bruce and R often, and later on it would be more of a public knowledge that Talia is Damian's birth mother so they all speculate that the three of them were in a secret courtship when Bruce and R were both out of the city.
The kids all have their favourite candidates and they make their picks known on Twitter.
(Did u know I had this ask in my mind last night and I wrote in my notes tell myself to send it to you in the morning bc I know that our short timeframe together is around that time)
I love all of this.
Everyone not involved has a stake in it. R gets dragged into YouTube compilation with Bruce. “The Prince and Knight of Gotham being the IT COUPLE for 6 minutes”. Then it expands into “A Deep Dive into Gotham’s It Couple” which then continues into who they’re potentially dating or hooked up with up. There’s a casual comment from the commentator about how they wouldn’t mind being a third.
The kids hang it over each other’s head anytime something happens. Jason would vote Diana but thinks she’s too good for Bruce so he’s with Damian in the Triple Parent team. Dick is with Clark and always has been. As a bit they do also say Batman isn’t any good for their parents, knowing that Batman is literally one of their parents.

Hi could I request jason Todd x trans reader where even though jason is in midst of pit rage he’s just like domestic with bf and Both of them just are dramatic and cause chaos
The dramatic duo? Oh yes please I live for domestic Jason! Thank you so much for the request! :)
Cw: Jason yelling, strangling, very angsty, kinda happy ending, off shoot of the Arkham games,
Tumblr media
You don’t remember much from what happened. You were mourning the loss of your boyfriend, Jason, when suddenly you had a bag over your head being taken somewhere. The person forcing you to walk was trying to be nice about things, which was weird. When the bag was pulled from your head you were met with a beautiful woman dressed in assassins gear. She introduced herself as Talia Al Ghul, a high standing leader in the League of Assassins.
“My father is in dire health, he needs to be in the lazarus pit at all times. We need a device that will keep the waters of the pit flowing through him. I have received intel that you would know the blueprints to such a device.” She explained to you with an air of urgence. You had helped both Jason and Batman with several devices, including one that was for Batman’s heavy duty suit. Talia continued to speak on the matter. “In return for the blueprints, we will revive Jason Todd.” Her words sent shivers down your spine. The offer was too tempting not to take, after all it was just blueprints right?
“Okay you've got yourself a deal.” You proceed to draw out the blueprints for the device and a list of the needed materials. She kept up her side of the deal and took you to where they were keeping Jason. She led you to a part of their lair that was heavily guarded. She then proceeds to open a heavy metal door, though she didn’t seem fazed by it.
“He’s in here, give him time to rest before traveling.” Her words had a weird vibe to them, almost like a warning. You walked into the chamber while remaining on edge, something just doesn’t feel right. The moment your eyes laid on Jason it was like a bullet went through you. You felt too many emotions for one person to handle, mainly though it was happiness. You watched as Jason stood up and stumbled in your direction. Before he could fall, you caught him in your arms.
“Jason, are you okay?” You asked softly, a look of concern washed over. Something had felt wrong, but before you could react, Jason had his hands around your throat. In a matter of seconds you were fighting for your life.
Choked noises escaped your mouth as you tried to tell him to stop. You never could get the words out. In your last moments of consciousness you touched his cheek. The tender act broke through him somehow.
You woke up in your apartment with no clue how you got here. The thought of it being a dream had crossed your mind. Though it was proven wrong by looking in the mirror. You heard some rummaging in the kitchen. In the kitchen you found Jason making breakfast.
“Oh dude, you didn’t have to do that.” You say roughly. Your voice still hadn’t fully recovered from the strangulation.
“Nope, you know better. Can’t talk me out of anything.” He said with a small smile. Despite the situation he seemed happy. He plates the pancakes. “Come on, your food will get cold.”
You laughed and sat down at the table. Things seemed to be looking up.

Thanks for tagging me @illarian-rambling!
I’ll do my boy Micheal because his dialogue makes me laugh.
“Ugh. No, I'm not okay. Ford and his band of merry morons have been searching for me all day.”
“Ha ha! Guess what? The power almost went out in my house again today. But that's not a problem for me! Not anymore!”
“I'm so sorry, but I dont think I’m going to do that. So if you don't mind, I'm just gonna go….”
“Dad! I’ve only been gone for two weeks. Why does it look like a tornado blew through here!?”
“I just don't know… I didnt ask for this y’know?”
“And what are you supposed to be? Halloween was six months ago y’know? You look like a greyscale clown!”
“Talia… I only got Two. Hours. Of sleep last night. What do you want?”
“Excuse you!? I’ll have you know that half of the girls in the entire city love me.”
“C’mon Rey. There has to be some way I can take this guy out without killing him. Can’t I just lure him away somewhere!?”
“Sorry Bianca! I’ve just been a bit tired recently.”
“Reymond! Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend!? I get not telling Talia but c’mon!”
“Trust me, I'm fine! I want to help people. That’s my job. Why do you think I’m out there every night? Do you think I have the money to afford to actually make a difference? I’m not a genius like you or Galo, I come from probably the poorest part of the city! This is the only way I can make this city great again.”
“Hey hey! I’m not here to hurt you. You’re going to be okay, trust me. I’m going to get you out of here.”
“No One? Really? You seem more like a Jerry to me.”
“Talia… You know I appreciate you designing my suit for me… But maybe less purple and more blue? Maybe?”

Whatever It Takes (CH-7)
Someone rang the doorbell. The whole family Had gathered and were eating an amazing dinner courtesy of Alfred. Alfred, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Bruce, Selina and Talia were there to celebrate the newly turned 9 year old boy's birthday.
Someone rang the doorbell. Everyone was on high alert as Alfred walked out of the kitchen to answer the door and everyone else followed.
On the other side of the door stood Mariam.
“Ukhti!” Damian exclaimed as he rushed past Alfred and hugged her.
“Mariam?” Talia said, stepping forward. “But you–”
Damian moved aside and Talia speed-walked past him and grabbed her daughter in a hug. “I thought I lost you.” She whispered in Mariam’s ear.
“Mother, you can't be free of me that easily.” Mariam replied, smiling.
“I believe we have a cake to cut, don't we? Let us take this inside, shall we?” Alfred said and they all trooped back into the dining room.
“Where have you been?” Dick asked.
“Somewhere safe.” Mariam replied. “Oh! Least I forget it.” She said, sliding a beautifully packaged box towards Damian. “Happy birthday, Damian.”
Damian slowly under the ribbon on the gift box and opened it to find a sketchbook and a set of pencil colors. He looked up questioningly at Mariam.
“You know, I'm traveling around, trying new stuff.” Mariam began. “I found out I really liked drawing. So I thought you would like it too. I mean, it's practical. It takes up little to no space. It comes easily to us. And it's basically like drawing the layout of a building, but with more details and smaller objects–”
“And more pretty” Selina added.
“It's fun, trust me.”
“Mm-hmm.” Damian said, inspecting the pencil colors. “They are of admirable quality.”
“Well, of course they are.” Mariam replied. “I’m the one who picked them.”
“How exactly did you pick them?” Bruce said.
“What do you mean, Father?” Mariam asked, although her eyes were still fixed on Damian's joyous expression.
“I mean That Talia didn't give you any money.” Bruce continued.
“How would you know that?” Mariam asked.
“Because I told them, daughter.” Talia said.
“Well, can't argue with that.” Mariam said. “But you know, getting money isn't exactly hard. And I have sufficient training to get a job, you know. I mean, I've seen people less qualified than me earning nicely.”
“Well, I agree.” Damian said. He had set aside his gift along with his other gifts. “League education is nothing to be laughed at.”
“Yeah, but still, you shouldn't have to do this.” Talia said with a mocking smile. “Isn't that right, daughter?”
“Ha, ha, ha.” Mariam gave a light laugh. “Walked right into that one, I did. But it's fun. Genuinely, it's a lot of fun.”
The rest of the conversation ended in favor of Damian's celebration. Or “Successful completion of nine years of existence.” In Tim’s opinion.
Afterwards, they all left for patrol. Mariam was wearing a basic outfit of Batgirl's costume with Nightwing as her buddy.
After the patrol winded up, they all met at the rendezvous point on top of the Wayne Enterprises building. All happily looking down at the smoke filled the city with blinking lights clearing up at them.
“Mariam?” Talia said, turning towards her. “Why do you insist on this?”
She turned away from the look and looked deep into her mother's eyes. “Insist on what, mother?”
“Insisting on living on your own when there are two houses perfectly capable of taking you in. You don't need to stay with me, You can stay here with your father if you want.”
“Is it wrong to insist on it if I have a perfectly valid reason?” Mariam asked.
“What is this perfectly valid reason ukhti?” Damian asked her. “What is this reason that justifies you staying away from us?”
“Simple.” Mariam said, moving towards the edge of the building. Everyone saw it and their muscles tensed. “I knew Grandfather was gonna die before he died.”
“What?” Bruce growled.
“I'm the one who killed him. I-I” Her breath hitched. “He was coming after you, Mother.”
“What are you talking about?” Talia asked. “You mean to say that your grandfather was coming after me?”
“He intended to.” Mariam replied.
“You could have talked to me about it.” Talia said, throwing up her hands in frustration, her voice reflecting her anger.
“I'm sorry mother, but it would not have yielded any results.” Mariam said, looking deep into her eyes. “All this while you couldn't see what was happening. Actually, you could see, but you refused to understand it. Grandfather, he was sending you into dangerous missions, treating you so horribly. He would have had you married to somebody in the League But was simply scared that his son-in-law could be a potential threat. A potential heir to the throne. You give up on so many of your dreams. Just do not anger him. And for what?” She scoffed. “Only for you to be thrown away once you have trained your replacement? Once you had trained me? Couldn't you see that, mother?”
Talia stood speechless.
Mariam continued. “I couldn't let him take you, Mother. I regret what I had to do, but I will not apologize for it.” She took a small step back and stumbled on the edge. “But I apologize to you all.” She said in a whispered voice that carried through the silent night despite the traffic below. With that, she turned around and dropped from the building.
All those on the roof rushed near her in a desperate attempt to grapple her to safety. She hadn't taken her grapple. But they saw no sign of her.
They all stumbled back near the center of the building. Everyone still reeling in shock. They were shaken out of their thoughts when Oracle’s voice chimed in in the comms. “She just dropped by with the uniform and left.”
“Team head back to the Cave.” Batman said and hence, the night ended.
Mariam's second visit came a day after Bruce's birthday.
They all had come back from patrol and were winding up for the night, when they heard light footsteps. All except Damian drew their weapons and stood ready.
They all waited breathlessly as they saw the shadow of a human coming closer.
“Mariam!” Damian exclaimed.
As she came into proper view, she gave all of them a meek smile. “Happy belated birthday, father.” She said as she stopped walking.
“Mariam?” Bruce asked not believing himself and how could he? After they had made her run away?
“In flesh.” Mariam said, giving a light chuckle.
“Why have you come now?” Damian said, cutting into the conversation. “Why didn't you come yesterday when it was actually Father's birthday?”
Mariam's fingers lightly fidgeted with the ribbon on the gift before answering. “I didn't want to ruin his birthday like I ruined yours.”
“Mariam,” Bruce said. “Never think that you would ruin my birthday. You are always welcome here.”
They all moved upstairs for a nice cup of tea before bed.
“How long are you gonna be staying here?” Tim asked as he happily munched on some chips which Alfred had provided.
“Just a couple of hours. I'll be meeting with Mother afterwards.” Mariam replied.
“Mariam?” Bruce said.
“Yes, Father?”
“There's something I need to discuss with you.”
“Sure.”
“Let's go to my study.”
As they both got up, Damian blurted out, “I wish to go to visit Mother too.”
Bruce said, “It's fine by me. Will you be able to take him with you, Mariam?”
“Yeah.” She replied.
“Yeah?” Dick asked. “Since when did you start saying yeah?”
“I've been traveling. It's fun to see so many people. I picked up some words.” Mariam said before following Bruce out of the dining room.
Later, when they were in his study, he motioned her to sit down and he sat down opposite her. “Mariam, your mother and I have been talking.”
“About what?”
“About the fact that you're not staying with any of us. If there's a reason then please let us know.”
“I–” She said before taking a deep breath in and continuing. “I just want to see what a normal life feels like.”
“If you want a normal life, you can find it here.”
“I don't think I can. Believe it or not, Father, life as a billionaire's daughter does not qualify as normal.”
“There is also another reason. Isn't it?”
Mariam drew a deep breath in. “Promise me you won't tell anyone.”
“My lips are sealed.” Bruce replied, slightly leaning forward, trying to give an encouraging nod.
“Ra’s Al-Ghul was my grandfather. E-even though he treated me and mother horribly, there was still a sense of respect I had for him. Was it because it was ingrained in me or simply a respect for his skills? I can't seem to define it. But what I do know is, deep down, I did consider him f-family. I did consider him my blood. And–” She again drew a sharp breath in. “I can't seem to get rid of the guilt. I cannot wake up every morning and see his eyes in Mother’s and Damian’s. I-I didn't mean to kill him, but he was hurting the people I loved. Even heard from some of his trusted advisors that he was considering-g”
“Considering replacing mother with you?” Bruce prompted.
“Yes, he was considering replacing mother with me. I couldn't risk that.”
“It's alright.” Bruce said, gently patting her shoulder, trying to comfort her. “Everything will be fine.”
Wish I could believe that. Mariam thought but didn't say it out loud. Some secrets are better left unsaid.

Chapter Six: Happy Trails (Jason's POV)
After my resurrection, I started seeing things and hearing voices, but they weren't talking to me. They were talking about me. After my dip in the pit, I knew I was stuck with them. Sometimes in the daytime, I would lie awake and listen to them talk. The spooky one would come and go, but the one in the weird Superman costume never left my side. Sometimes I felt like I knew him from somewhere. Sometimes he would sing songs to me when we were alone or talk as if he didn't know I could hear him. I wanted to give in and speak to him most times, but I was afraid that I'd lose my mind completely if I did.
I didn't realize how much I would need him until I found out about Tim Drake. "You all right?" Talia asked. Her voice was clear, calm, and tinted with a hint of concern.
"Sure. Why wouldn't I be all right?" I lied. Once she was gone, I could hear the faintest whisper from my imaginary friend. I started to cry as I continued to try to ignore him.
"Jason, I'm so sorry," he said loud enough for me to hear. I looked away from the wall and directly at him. "Jason? You can see me?"
"What do you want from me?" I asked in tears. I finally succumbed to it. It didn't matter to me anymore if I was losing it or not. I just wanted to talk to somebody.
"Jason, it's me. Have you been ignoring me this whole time?" he asked. I nodded.
"I don't know who you are or if you're real. I just—. Can you sit down?" I asked. He nodded and sat at the table. I pulled myself together and sat back down. "Who are you?"
"Jason, it's me," he pleaded with me, "It's Laney. We're best friends. Why don't you—? Jason, don't you remember me?"
I shook my head and laughed. "No... I don't know who you are because you aren't real. You're not. This is just my brain damage and emotional trauma manifesting itself," I rationalized. Laney frowned. I pushed a hand through my hair and took a few nauseated breaths.
"This isn't who you are, Jason. We used to talk about it all the time... You said you wanted to tell Bruce you loved him, that he was a father to you. I know you're hurt, but has that changed?" Laney asked. I didn't answer him. "You don't believe me, do you? How can I prove it to you?"
"Prove what to me? I don't even understand what you're—."
"I'm a ghost. We were friends in heaven or the afterlife or whatever it was... And you disappeared, but Boston and I—. We uh—. I don't exist anymore, but you can do everything that I can't. You have a second chance, and Catherine wanted that for you," Laney whispered, "Jason..."
I started feeling panicked when he mentioned Ma, but I pushed the feelings back and went to bed. He stayed with me even after our conversation. When I woke up, Laney was still there, and his friend was back. "I'm not leaving him... Boston, I promised myself I would never leave him. So you can give me the address of the nearest person who can see ghosts, or you can come with us and help me prove that we're not just hallucinations," Laney snapped. I lay still and listened.
"The closest person I know isn't the kind of guy you ask for help. He's more trouble than he's worth—."
"Who is he, and where is he? Boston," Laney pleaded angrily through his clenched teeth.
"If he can prove that you two are real, I'm game... Actually, matter-of-fact, if you two are real, I'll do whatever the hell you want me to," I replied. Laney floated above the ground in a seated position, biting his nails. "Scout's honor."
"Jason, you were never a scout," Laney replied, "If we can prove that we're real, I want you to do just as we planned. Talk to our families."
I nodded, and Boston shook his head. "Jason, kid, you don't wanna go on and learn the hard way. Why can't you just take our word for it?" Boston asked. "Jay..."
I looked at Laney, and he softened up. "Jason, if you can't remember me, then you can't believe what I mean when I say that I know you in ways that you don't even know yourself anymore... And you won't be able to see that I just want to help you."
I wondered if he loved me. The way he spoke to me was like nothing I'd ever heard. I sometimes thought my mind made him up for comfort. Maybe he was real, and he was trying to protect me. I knew one thing for sure, everything he said was what I wanted to hear. I think that's what scared me the most. If he wasn't real, all I was doing was second-guessing myself.
They continued to argue back and forth, and I took my shower and got dressed before cutting out. Laney followed closely behind me. "Two choices. San Francisco, but you run the risk of seeing your brother or Louisiana meet this Constantine guy, and I hear he's more trouble than he's worth," Laney offered. Both choices sounded terrible, but I think he knew I'd pick anything over the idea of running into Dick. "Jason, I know you don't wanna risk seeing Dick if he's in San Francisco, but—."
"But nothing. I'm not risking everything I have planned. What happens if you're just my mind's way of sabotaging me?" I asked. He looked over my shoulder and waited for me to make eye contact.
"I don't want to sabotage you... I'd never do that. Jason, I know you're scared of what he'll say or think or do... But, just try to think. If this Constantine guy is as unpredictable as Boston says, don't you think you'd be safer if—."
I stopped just as I realized how crazy I must've seemed, talking to thin air. "Listen, on the off chance that you're real. Cool, great, good. But, on the chances that you're just a pretty little kindhearted and nurturing hallucination, my mind made up to change me back into the sweet boy you're saying I used to be... I don't wanna take any chances on screwing this up," I mumbled.
"You weren't always sweet. You were just as stubborn dead as you are alive. Either way, I promised your mom I'd find you, and I did. You're alive. I can't take that away from you, but I can look out for you," Laney whispered, "You don't have to talk to me out here. I know what it looks like. Just know when you find out that I'm not a hallucination and that there is actually someone on this planet that would move heaven and hell for you... I won't rub it in."
Secretly, I kind of hoped he was telling the truth. I needed him. Like it or not, I didn't know how I'd be able to bear the loneliness without him. So that was it. I was on my way to Louisiana to see a man about a ghost.

Warnings: Angst, Slight Bullying, idk flirting?
Written for: AFAB, this fic was for someone and i decided to post it, “M” the best friend is NB so they can be whoever you want.
DNI: *read pinned post*
——————————————————————————
Summary: You are a shy girl who just moved to the Jackson commune with your best friend. While still adjusting to your new-found home and life of being around others, you run into Dina, a girl who rather lightly bully you over telling anyone she has an ounce of attraction for you. (spoilers: her little crush weighs about 10lbs). What happens when, one morning, Dina decides to show her odd affection over a pile of eggs?
——————————————————————————
You and your best friend M have been in Tommy and Maria Miller’s community for about a week. You two traveled like most young people and landed in Jackson, Wyoming, hoping to find somewhere safe forever. So far, besides the Millers, you (and J) have met Ellie, a lesbian with witty humor and awkward tendencies. Her artist girlfriend, Cat, has been begging to tattoo your ink-virgin arm. Jesse is a southern boy with a big heart who is always there for you, especially when you first started, and sisters that you and M have gotten to know… sort of. Talia, the oldest, is an intelligent girl with protective tendencies of her sister but is always down to have a good time and her rude but mysterious… little sister Dina.
Now, you could say Dina is nice to M, an angel to them per se. When you two first got to Jackson, Dina had the task of giving you two and some other young adults a tour of the community, a mayor per se. After her tour, Dina talked M’s ear off about anything and everything, even battering her eyes. M, while being nice, seemed interested in Dina in a friendly manner but had googly eyes for the older sister, Talia… to Dina’s dislike. You might be wondering how Dina treats you; well, she would rather bully you. Some background, you’re quite shy, having M talk for the both of you at the start, and you also hate conflict. Dina read right through you and now always has something up her sleeve.
Dina is not a cruel bully, per se, to everyone else, she has a fat crush on you that she REFUSES to acknowledge or maybe she does accept it but chooses to bully you instead of telling you… she’s Dina, okay. Dina’s “bullying” is teasing a rather innocent you over little things. She’ll tell you your flannel is unbuttoned and laugh to herself while you check. She will purposely switch the patrol list so you and her are stuck together for at least 7 hours as she invades everything about your life with questions you answer. It’s fun for Dina and for you; you just want to make peace with a 5’3 bisexual that you think hates you.
On this particular day, you, M, and everyone else are up for breakfast in the morning. There are Eggs, Bacon, and Turkey sausage on the side with Hash-Browns with some water… that’s all they have for a “healthy” drink in the apocalypse minus beer and other alcohol. You make yourself a plate and choose bacon because you have always liked it. You look to find M, who you usually sit with but is now flirting with Talia while she eats but enjoys it, smiling while your best friend tries to impress her.  You giggle to yourself softly as you sit down at a table. You start to salt and pepper your eggs as you feel a mysterious presence. “BOO!” you hear an all too familiar voice. It’s Dina. She’s sporting her usual maroon shirt (dance scene) with some sweatpants she found due to its fall in Jackson, and she has no patrol today.
She looks at your plate. “Bacon, huh? Icky,” Dina says, as it is against her religion to eat pork rather than her overall dislike for the pig-like food. “I—i’m sorry, Dina,” you say softly, not wanting to offend her. She smiles as she holds her fork from her own food tray, for which she opts for turkey sausage due to no pork in the links. She gets really close to you (while making you incredibly nervous… but sort of flustered) and says, “Gimme yer eggs, nerd.” She has a little angry arch to her brow as she smiles, giving the impression she wants your eggs, similar to a high school bully wanting lunch money. “D— Dina”! You say, cheeks all blushed, but a worried look, not knowing what to do. Dina stabs her fork on your eggs and puts a small piece from the scrabbled batch in her mouth.  “Mmm, yummy,” she says, enjoying her newfound stolen treasure of your eggs.
“Dina?” you say, gaining some confidence. “Um, those were my eggs; why didn’t you put more on your plate if you wanted some”? You say with a friendly but still worried smile. Dina turns her head and gets close to you again. “Because I enjoy watching pretty girls like you get all flustered over some eggs.” She boops… yes, she boops your nose as she takes another bite.
You just sit there in so much confusion. Does she like you? Is she playing games with you? Is she bored? So many questions rush through your head. Soon, your cheeks go red out of embarrassment/confusion. Dina puts her hand on your shoulder to take you out of your deep thoughts of what this girl could possibly want. “Hey, they’re just eggs, pretty girl, no need to get all scrambled up,” she says as she has finished her plate and gets up to put her tray away, ultimately leaving you with butterflies in your stomach over this mysterious Jewish girl.
End A/N: I lowkey forgot I had this account, let alone fics and such. I hope you enjoy this shorter angst read with you and Dina. I did proofread this for once, but still, any errors, please be kind. Again, the artwork is done by @triple-phoenix // Please read the pinned post if you want a fic yourself. Anyways, thanks again. See you in the next one- c
