I know there's not a lot of data points yet for the new DCU, but assuming that Superman (2025) is fairly representative of the tone and standard of film making, would you want to see Green Arrow introduced into the continuity? And do you have any thoughts on what you'd want to see in an Arrow focused movie?

Ooh that's a great question. To be honest I feel like the tone of this movie lends itself more to the bright and cheery superpowered side of the DCU? Like I can see how a Green Lantern movie would work in this universe, or the Flash, but I have a harder time picturing street level heroes like Batman or Green Arrow.

I was going to say I don't want an origin story but actually no, I DO want an origin story - but I don't want Ollie's, I want Roy's. I want the story of a man who is irresponsible and self-involved and became a superhero in many ways as an extension of that, by gallivanting around in a flashy costume with a silly gimmick. I want him suddenly becoming responsible for a child and being like "Well it's okay, he's a kid, he probably can't use doorknobs yet, I can keep being Green Arrow without him finding out"...and being flabbergasted when this punkass little ADHD genius IMMEDIATELY clocks his whole deal and demands to be in on it. I want the buddy comedy where Ollie essentially allows himself to be blackmailed BY A LITERAL CHILD into letting Roy be his sidekick, and then the two of them accidentally becoming best friends, and then Ollie having the terrifying realization that holy shit this kid somehow stole his entire heart and if anything ever happened to him he would never recover. I want Ollie to learn to be something approximating an adult for Roy and I want Roy to learn that he has a home where he's loved for the weird bratty little genius he is and I want the post-credits scene to be Roy going off to his first Teen Titans meeting. YOU'RE WELCOME, JAMES GUNN.
