One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.

And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.

Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.

(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)

Isagi Yoichi doesn't really pay attention to many things that are not soccer. But, it was hard not to notice things about his seatmate. The one who was seated a few centimeters away from him every day—

You, the star student everyone relies on.

He knew that this was a way for his teachers to scold him to pay more attention to the class. Because if not so, then there was no reason to purposely put him—a student who is mediocre at most and forgetting assignments at worst—next to a perfect record of equally perfect scores like you. But, it wasn't as if it was a bad thing.

You helped Yoichi a lot by pointing at his textbook to where the teacher was explaining whenever he blanked out, explaining some parts on breaks when he asked, and even at some point you started to teasingly remind him about the homework through text.

All in all, you were very pleasant to have.

But, it truly was hard to not notice some things about you too as time went on.

Sometimes, your shoulder sagged and you had a faraway look on your face. At other times, your laugh comes out just a bit too stilted than usual. And just recently, the eyebags you hid under a tiddly applied makeup started to show up even more often.

At some point, to him, it became so easy to tell whenever you push yourself too much.

Yoichi was not quite sure he was close enough to ask you about things like this. He is just some classmate who happened to have his seat beside you and your number saved in his phone. He was also definitely not the best at reaching out to people effortlessly without any hint of awkwardness. Yoichi's anxious heart urged him to just stay silent—and it would not be wrong. He was simply not crossing the line of 'classmates' between the two of you.

But, it also felt wrong to do that.

You are a kind person. Yoichi didn't know many things about you, but you are indeed someone who helped him even when you didn't have to. You are also the only one who cared enough to ask him about his practice and how he was doing in class—it felt wrong to just ignore everything and watch you keep up the act in silence for whatever reason you might had.

That was why, during that Friday, Yoichi braved himself to ask you, his tone shushed, even as the class started to grow emptier.

"Hey, listen, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but... are you okay? You look tired recently, so..."

And when he got a tired smile and a nervous laugh from you, let out through sagged shoulders and a long sigh with a hint of relief mixed in it, Yoichi felt so glad he chose to.

notes: isagi is an observant person, and there are some people who keep up the "mask" more than anyone else. but don't you think when you are in close proximity with someone every day, you can't really help but notice things about them? isagi is very soccer-headed, but he is kind and not an ungrateful person i think. this thing is a bit more mellow than my usual ones since the main feeling here is "ah, someone who keeps up a mask a lot of time contrasts isagi a lot. but if you think about it, isn't someone like isagi a good match for someone like that too in some degree?". also at the time when i wrote this, my feelings were a bit heavy, but in the end, i still enjoy writing even under such a feeling. I hope to come back to this idea again one day. in the tone of 'developing romance' and such, especially with isagi who seems to understand how it was to accommodate other people. i will think more about this premise again someday, it seems fun to explore more. all in all, think of it as another "more of a prologue meet cute" thing.

★ 019 // “Tears” I finished SBR last night. There’s a lot I could say, but I will leave you all with this anecdotal story:

About a month ago, I had left off right before the Love Train arc. I was cleaning out my basement sifting through my childhood belongings and decided to take an edible to help pass the time.

I’m used to Weird Shit happening while high. Inspiration, laughs, revelation. However this particular time I had a strong… vision of sorts. I’m not sure what to call it, all I knew was that it was some kind of dreamlike thought that did not come from me consciously, and it felt very real.

Johnny crawls to my feet, sobbing hard. Words are spilling out of his mouth, but he only mutters the same thing over and over again. 

“I’m so sorry.” 

I don’t understand.

“Sorry for what?”

He can barely talk amidst his tears. “Something bad is gonna happen. Something painful that might hurt you.”

The following words slip out of my mouth so effortlessly that it would make me question if they even were my own, maybe they were God’s.

“Johnny, no matter what happens: good, bad, or ugly, I want to be right there with you together on this adventure, always. No future pain could ever change that.” 

I do not regret my decision at all.

Thank you for taking me on this adventure, Johnny. Let’s keep going, together.

Poll's Origin Story (kind of)

Stardust wanders. That's their whole thing. They are a spirit, or more accurately an... entity? Minor deity? It's a little complicated, but what is important is that they wander, and they wander wherever they want. One day, they ended up in just the right place at the right time.

That little egg that Stardust found ended up being Poll, Of course.

It's a little hard to glean how long Poll was in the Federation labs and why they were made. Like many of the other eggs, Poll doesn't talk about what happened (if they remember at all) and generally pretends like it never happened. As far as they could figure out though, Poll had gone through all the testing and was in storage until the right set of islanders arrived.

Having spent their entire life surrounded by Federation employees, Poll's dragon form was *very* different from what it is today, to say the least.

After spending a little while around Stardust, their form changed to the one we know and love! Although since their papa is a shapeshifter too, their form resembles the dragons their genetics are from instead of their papa.

Ok so the person I had for my driving test was really nice, actually. I mentioned how I do have glasses but it's a light prescription so I might be able to do the sight test without them & I'd like to try. And he was chill with it, just said that whatever I did in the place I had to do during the test too. Which apparently I don't need 20/20, I just need at least one eye to pass it. So I did!!! My left eye definitely didn't see good enough lol but my right eye managed it. Which means I don't have a glasses restriction on my license. I just need to have mirrors on both sides, which pretty much all cars do these days.

So I drove without my glasses. It went fine! Just made me a little more nervous about reading speed limit signs, but I managed. I didn't even have to do parallel parking for it lol. He just had me drive thru some residential areas, thru a school zone, etc etc. I was very careful to not speed at All and to fully stop at every stop sign. Etc etc.

Got out of the car and he was like "now that we're out of the car, congratulations! You passed!!" And I was so keyed up on nerves that it didn't fully sink in immediately hdkshfks but it's sinking in I think

I passed my driving skills test!!! I have my license!!!!! Smth I've been so nervous about for TEN. YEARS. I finally did it!!!! And then I'll get my own car, and I'll be much more independent, and I can DO THINGS....!!!! Like go to the mall on a whim!!!!! Exciting!!!!!
