Optimus in under a lot of stress and has some legitimate concerns about Bumblebee's parenting style but ultimately Optimus doesn't like that Bumblebee has his own life outside of being his Scout and Piston doesn't like how Optimus treats Bumblebee

[It's basically just ping pong I just wanted it to sound different lol. For Breakdown I salvaged a couple parts from Phlurrii's Scrap Pit over in their @tfone-continuity-au (IT IS SO AMAZING UGHHH PLEASE GO LOOK AT THEIR WORK!!!)]

[If anyone remembers that one Bee redesign I made,, well,, I re-redesigned it 😅 not too sure where I was going with the arms but otherwise I think it turned out okay! This was also inspired by Phlurrii -///-]

What *is* the matrix thing on their chests?

Hello! Thank you so much for asking!

For my Tepid Alliance AU, I wanted to lean into how strict and controlling the Autobots are like in TFA. The first part, all high ranking Autobots must change their frame in order to match Prime's silhouette. This is a form of reverence to Prime, to strive to be just like him, but also a battle tactic. If everybody looks the same, you can't tell who you're fighting. Decepticons all look very different from each other.

Second part, all of Optimus' sons were born with wings. The wings are cut off in a big ceremony to officially induct the sparkling into the family. It is a sign of personal sacrifice. The Matrix on their chests is a visual symbol that they *ARE* Optimus' sons, with the potential to becoming the next Prime. Once they're given the real Matrix, it restores their frame to what it once was. Optimus Prime has large Sentinel Prime wings. (Note: Piston's wing ceremony was interrupted by Breakdown who wasn't told this was going to happen.)

The chain from the faux Matrix to the Autobot logo is also a form of control, they can't freely move their arms. This forces them to be much more tight with their motions, the excuse being it makes them better at combat.

Over the course of the AU, Bumblebee removes his armor and restores himself to what he's suppose to look like. He spent his whole life in Optimus' shadow knowing he was going to be the next Prime and didn't like it, but took his role very seriously. He's a little scary at first, but when Piston isn't afraid of him a wheel in his brain starts to spin. "Maybe it doesn't have to be like this."
