Notes from the new Rolling Stones Japan article with Pete and Patrick Pt.1 :

When the interviewer noted Patrick's Los Crudos t-shirt, he responded enthusiastically that it was a Chicago band! Pete was in a Napalm Death t-shirt.

Interviewer asked about how Summer Sonic was, especially since it was their first since 2019. Patrick said the show went like they hoped, which rarely happens (lol). Said Japanese audiences are special. He gets asked about how concerts in Japan are, but it's hard to explain unless you experience it. Said can't explain it well, but there's a lot of give and take of energy.

Interviewer asked about Pete saying there was a song inspired by Japan on the SMFS album. Pete said "The Kintsugi Kid" was the song about how he felt when he was in Japan, it's obvious by the title. "The Kintsugi Kid'' bridges "I Am My Own Muse" and "So Much (For) Stardust." Said Patrick wrote the songs but in his interpretation, the sonic landscape of the song reminds him of Japan.

Patrick said he's always been quite influenced by Japan, especially on this album. Said people might not register it from the sound, but he's been influenced by the Yellow Magic Orchestra & their synthesizer sounds. He didn't use much synthesizer on the album but a lot of the songs started with synthesizers. He got the same synthesizer Yellow Magic Orchestra used and started writing songs from there. He's a big fan of Studio Ghibli movies and loves Joe Hisaishi's music. Said when doing string/orchestra horn arrangements, he wanted to create a sound that was as appealing to the heart/poignant as his. Even though their music/sound was completely different, he wanted to try it. Said he especially tried to evoke the feeling he got on "The Pink Seashell."

Interviewer asked about TTTYG's 20th anniversary and how they could have done an anniversary tour but they didn't and instead released SMFS with gusto.

Pete said the most important thing is that you stick to what you think is right. Said there was a punk band he liked when he was younger, and they didn't change at all. Talked about how artists like David Bowie or the Clash changed their styles to almost unrecognizable lengths and how some fans left because of it. But when he listens to the albums after getting older, he can reflect on his own changes and find new appreciation for songs he might not have liked at the time.

Pete said celebrating the past too much feels patronizing and not very fall out boy-like. They continue making new music, sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. Even if something doesn't work out as well, he's like [it is what it is/that happens], and that some people might say they liked it. He's got albums he likes and albums he dislikes from his own favourite artists. Said they always make new albums that challenge their past works. Of course they hope people like it, but getting good reviews/being appreciated isn't the only reason they continue making music.

Patrick said he doesn't like making an album to celebrate the 20th anniversary, or having an anniversary to showcase past songs. Reasons was that first, the past songs are always in rotation in their sets so they don't stop playing them. Second, like Pete said, they prefer to keep pursuing new music and that stance hasn't changed from 20 years ago. Said deviating from that feels dishonest like they're lying to themselves.

Pete was like [it's how Steven Spielberg didn't make E.T. Part 2.] Patrick was like [exactly!] and said that being honest with themselves was their pure form.

Pete talked about the word, how it encompasses too much, feeling restricted by that in the past, etc. Talked about wanting to become like Metallica in that the word Metallica has becomes its own thing, Metallica doesn't need a description, etc. Patrick talked about perfoming in Japan, from small venues way earlier to now, etc

I love long FOB articles and I quite liked this one.

Love that Patrick talked about musical inspirations and SMFS. It’s so cool to hear because I love how beautiful and grand the sounds are in SMFS, even with spoken tracks like The Pink Seashell or Baby Annihilation. 

Also him buying the same synthesizers is so real. He’s a music nerd <3 

They’ve been consistently talking about always wanting to make new music and looking to the future instead of the past. And getting questions about their sound changing since forever haha.

It's really cool that they're very self aware and how convinced they are about making new music. Love that Pete can look back at older albums and find new appreciation for them. I’d be down for another half dozen FOB albums if they are, so (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Is this 19th Century AU word vomit?

I forgot that I created this a while back, primarily because I never created the missing page where Narinder asked Allani if she would do bad things for her family like he did

That's right folks, not even my happy 19th Century AU is safe from getting ruined

The atrocity that Prince Narinder committed seven years before settling in Acheron Estate as Amenthes: the manipulation of trade to the Frontier (center of operations for the Dissenters), providing increasingly unsafe and defective supplies/weapons and munitions/necessities, resulting in the loss of innocent life.

Narinder's plan, rationale, dissatisfaction as a Prince after the cut:

What Narinder did was take revengeance for the Dissenters' attempt to assassinate Regent Shamura, formulating a plan to end the Rebellion via becoming The One Who Waits, the Dissenters' benefactor and primary supplier within the Kingdom.

Acting as a disillusioned merchant, he secured the trust of the Dissenters by giving them access to information on where supplies were held, eventually providing supplies himself by securing allies within the Kingdom who were sympathetic to the Dissenters' cause. Little by little, he began slipping poison into the food, began tampering with the tools and weapons, began sabotaging what the Dissenters were going to utilize. If he could make them suffer as he did when he almost lost his sibling, then what mercies could those pitiful creatures be afforded? He would poison the well they drank from as punishment.

He did not realize how terrible his plans were until Shamura called him out on it.

All this time, Narinder thought that he was doing good, that he was finally helping by putting his skills to use via manipulating supplies, that he would be appreciated after his thankless job as Minister of Trade/Economy/Commerce/etc. Damn it, he was trying to keep Shamura safe, trying to keep the Kingdom safe.

Instead, Shamura, when they woke up from their coma, gave him a thorough dressing down on how that was horrid, unforgiveable, why would he do that to the citizens of the Kingdom. Already, he had to deal with the reputation he had before the Rebellion. All the people did was complain about the economy, why couldn't these resources move faster, why was Prince Narinder so bad at his job? It's so easy to move a lot of lumber from Darkwood to Silk Cradle, surely!

On top of that, the only reason others wanted to befriend him or speak with him is because they wanted his favor, wanted his wealth. And they persisted even though he became increasingly cold, rude, and isolated in order to deter them.

So if they didn't care about him, he wasn't going to care about them either.

So he left. Luckily, the rumors surrounding his fate helped him go incognito.

“A concerned citizen, a friendly neighbor, a roving squatter. Take your pick. I think it should be me asking this question, curse boy. But that’s right — you’ve already introduced yourself.”

“I did no such thing!” Kevin wishes he had more spell power at hand. He would open the floor with a slash and fling himself down into the depths of the earth. He’s not even sure which question the list he’s given is supposed to be answering.

“You didn’t have to, Little Red.” He jerks his chin at Kevin’s cloak. “Every magically aligned being in the realm knows the Raven Hunt.”

some time ago we talked about viv helping v on her healing journey (girlie cannot catch a break from being a babysitter even after she got johnny a body LMAO) and even though v never ends up at rehab (maybe that will change) it still fits pretty well.

V³ had a pretty big fight at one point. viv was always going to leave for arasaka but v never understood or accepted it. they argued for hours and when vincent didn't chose her side, v stormed off to go on a weeklong bender. when she returned the flat was empty, both her siblings had left -and betrayed her. naturally, viv also felt betrayed by her childhood friend, all she asked for was support but instead she got called a traitor. i like to imagine this song plays on the radio one day after their reunion

TO ME this is THE streetkid song but it hits hard especially in this universe. as i mentioned before V³ thinks they picked the right path, they aren't gonna be beat (and honestly vincent is the only one who succeeded). viv had a good run but then she got kicked from the corp, lost her newest best friend, DIED and now has a whole other person stuck in her skull. v was stubborn, was homeless for a bit and is overall in a bad way (but then again, that's the only way she knows how to live so it's not as bad TO HER)

THIS IS A BIG ONE SO BUCKLE IN FOLKS bishi and i had been talking about a personal quest for v and we ended up on this: one day they are driving somewhere while listening to the radio when a host teases a special treat! they have exclusive rights to the music of NC born and bred band Rotten! (yeah you guessed it! V's band) naturally this fills her with pure rage and viv knows this isn't going to end well (babysitting time!) v knows exactly who did this and is hellbent on rectifying this (there is more but yall are gonna have to wait for the day i decide to write it lmao) As Above, So Below is the name of the job! it is a song that v wrote but only she knows about it. while viv wasn't a band member she was there for it's founding and a few first concerts, she filmed a lot of it and even ran the merch stand a bit

YES the song is about v not wanting to sign with a label and it is her final fuck you to the world of music. in reality that song is incredibly underproduced since by the time it was recorded the band had already broken up. v did ALL of it: singing, instruments, songwriting. editing magic made it come to life. depending on how it ends (yes there are multiple outcomes) viv will receive a shard with ALL of rotten's music, including THIS unreleased song and even some backstage footage from way back in the day when viv was still around.
