practicing drawing the blue boy with some idw refs, up next will prob be shadow, and then we'll see!! had a lot of fun with him, drawing sonic characters is so different than what im used to bc their proportions are so different but its great practice for expressions and more dynamic poses and stuff. very fun

OKAY so while making the Save yourself, I'll hold them back lyric comic, it put me in a big Danger Days mood in general (the album which the song is from) and I got the idea to draw the rise turtles as the Killjoys! (For anyone who doesn't know, very simply put they're characters the MCR band members play in the musical videos for the Danger Days album) (Dunno how many of you guys are interested in the Danger Days lore but just so you know I'm absolutely cooking with this!!)

BEHOLD MY MAGNUM OPUS! Bro this took more than 2 months, in part because I was really busy IRL during one of those months, but even then this was a pretty large project for me compared to what I've done before. BUT NOW I'M FINALLY DONE! 😭 Save yourself, I'll hold them back is just such a Leo-coded song, especially if you include the whole bad timeline, I just had to make something rottmnt-related with it. I actually envisioned this at first as an animation, but I lack both the skill and motivation to animate so it became a lyric comic instead lol.

the best advice ive ever gotten for writing was from a published author that came to talk at my middle school. i asked for advice for what to do when i get stuck on one part and his response was basically what op said about writing out of order. he recommended writing scenes or chapters i have more ideas for and then going back and writing whatever led up to that. and WOW that changed how i wrote.

i still was trying to write something good on the first try though, so i was still struggling.

BUT then a few years later, i started writing outlines which were essentially just a huge block of word vomit. i just wrote down all of my ideas, with notes and rambling in between, and with that, i finished a written work for the first time. it was an absolute GAME CHANGER.

thats how i plan and write everything now, i make one document with all of my ideas, a lot of dialogue, comments, and possible scenes and plot points. then once i feel like i have a solid enough story, ill start writing the actual thing. i usually end up using a lot of dialogue and lines straight from the outline, but just cleaned up and organized. then i just go back and reread (over and over) to edit and make sure it makes sense. and thats that. i cant personally make multiple drafts because ill get bored

favourite things about first drafts:

square brackets with notes to self mid-line like [does this make sense with worldbuilding?]

ah yes, Main Character and their closest friends, Unnamed Character A and Unnamed Character B.

heyyy ive been seeing more mcr stuff on my dash and i cant stop thinking about how im gonna see mcr in august so. heres a redraw of my first killjoy oc!!! i first drew them in 2016ish

and then i redrew them again in 2020

and at the top is the 2025 version.

it was a lot of fun even though im not planning on using this design for anything (i have another killjoy....sona? that ill post soon and always wanted to make a lil comic with but we'll see)

seeing my style change and evolve over the years is fun!!

i'll come back to this in a few years lol
