Hostile? Pt. 2

Part 1

"Alright kid... what's your fucking deal huh?" Supervillain asks the moment they open the door to the Villain Agency. Villain scowls at them at scoffs.

"Wouldn't you like to know fucker!" They snap. They're not older than 14, maybe even 15. They're definitely bold, they've done nothing but fight with Supervillain the whole car ride to the agency. Like a parent and their child arguing over who's cooler.

"I woukd actually, you set a dumpster on fire and then tried to beat up a hero that's three times your size, then you get caught." Supervillain snarls back at the smaller one, annoyed with their antics already. They remind themselves that they're the one who chose to take the damn thing back.

"Yeah and? So what?" The smaller one says, their voice is a little shakey and hesitant but they put on a brave face. They straighten up but they aren't very intimidating... especially not at their height.

Supervillain scoffs, it's more of a laugh than a scoff, though, as they take in the Villains faux bravery.

"Do you have any idea what you're even doing? Let me guess, mommy and daddy don't give you enough attention? Or maybe they do and ypu just want an excuse to lash out. What's the trauma, kid? We all have some." Supervillain asks bluntly, as if this is a normal thing for them to do. As if they always take in random villains... which villain guesses isn't isn't far off from the truth.

Villain gets defensive quickly, their body tenses and a new found anger flashes across their face. "Fuck you asshole! You don't know me! You cant just ask ask that shit either, I don't know you!" The bite at the supervillain, and not metaphorically.. they litterally bite them.

Supervillain falters back but before they can grab the child, the child is already running off and climbing the wall to enter an oddly large gap. They're small enough and frail enough to easily fit in, it seems like they regretted what they did the moment it happened.

Supervillain sighs and runs their fingers through their hair. "Now why would you do that?" They ask calmly, nothing like the dismissive tone they had before. Villain stares and Supervillain stares back.

Maybe they should've have asked the kid that, they did just meet them and the way they shift uncomfortably to cover as much skin as possible doesn't go unnoticed.

Other Villain enters the main room and looks at the two, they can feel the tension and something else in the air... fear possibly. They turn around the moment they spot the two and leave.

"You don't know anything about me, don't try and be my friend." The Villain hisses. Supervillain sighs and steps back again.

"Fine. But clearly you don't have a home. I'll show you to a room you can stay in, okay? It's safe here"

The Villain scoffs at that. Safe? As if.. No where is ever safe, especially not for a young child... specially not for a young child. Nonetheless, the villain emerged from the spot in the wall and follows the Supervillain.

They take in the agency. It's large and dimly lit, many other villains are in random places of the building. Some are eating in a large kitchen, others lounge on the couch, joking about a movie, others train, but the main point is that everyone is occupied and happy.. safe.. content...

This feels foreign to the child, they wonder what sacrifices they gave up to get here.. what they needed to do. The don't dwell on the thought for long because they enter an elevator. They tense up at being alone with the Supervillain. Supervillain notices and adds more distance between the two of them in hopes to provide more comfort to the child.

They reach the third floor and when the elevator doors open, the villain is first out. Supervillain exits after and takes lead again. They reach a corridor that has several doors spaced apart with different names and numbers, like a weird apartment complex. The walls are decorated and so are a few doors.

They lead the villain to a room. Room 35.. Supervillain opens it and villain takes in the room. It's large, way larger than the child will need. There's a bed pushed in the corner, a separate room for the bathroom with a door that adds privacy, a desk, lamp, and a few other basic items. It's plain... empty.. clean and new, a room to call their own.

"You can stay here if you wish, I suppose you're under my wing now, considering you are now a threat to the people and the heroes. Welcome to villainy kid."

it drives the audience forward and interests them so they continue watching the show to find out the answers to their questions

its also a convention to use hermeneutic codes for horror crime shows like hannibal

Proairetic codes:

action codes, the actions done to drive the narrative forward, previous events drive other events into action. ngl this one is fucking stupid to apply i dont get if i ever apply it correctly

in hannibal, proairetic codes tie a lot with hermeneutic codes as the actions of the characters raise questions for the audience questioning their choices and makes the audience wonder what will happen next. the action creates tension and makes the audience wonder how the created problem(if there is one) will be resolved. for example when hannibal lecter called abigails father to inform him that "they know" and that fbi is on the way. this drives the narrative forward as then the audience wonders how the characters will react and wonder how the actions will affect the story. this action ended up with abigail becoming an orphan and their suspect dead, creating a few side plots and introducing new characters. this constant tension created by each action drives the narrative forward and engages the audience to continue watching the show

semantic codes:

connotations, things associated with something, the deeper level meaning of a symbol. this one is hard yet so easy cuz theres literally SO many of them

they basically give insight into the plot and characters, building personalities and maybe even starting the deep questions the audience will have

for example, for hannibal, hes quite sophisticated, the semantic codes for that would be how he wears suits all the time, his overall style and his acquired taste. those things connote sophistication, wealth and even control and power (especially the suit and his high respected position as a psychiatrist)

but another thing that can be derived from things like how hes always careful, always has a cloth that doesn't leave any fabric fibres, how he doesn't use anything digital, only physical things like journals to leave no traces, the fact that hes literally eating his evidence lmao, his knowledge and experience of human anatomy and mind connote that hes a careful, experienced, ambitious man and prob(definitely) is a serial killer

If voting wasn't important Republicans wouldn't try so hard to strip people of their voting rights.

An example I like to give is what happened with the 2018 ballot in Florida.

At that time one of the things we were voting on was giving felons back their voting rights.

With the most clear cut writing I have ever seen on a ballot it spelled out that voting yes woukd give All felons the right to vote unless they committed murder or a sexual offense.

Almost 65% of voters voted yes. Including Republican voters.

The Republican controlled government lost thier shit over this.

They went apeshit all over the news about how people actually gave people their rights to vote back and don't you know that's actually bad!!! Oh poor stupid voters. Don't worry. We can fix your fuck up! We know you really ment to not give them their voting rights back.

Well that blew up.

So they backtracked. Now they would agree to let some felons have the right to vote.

But only if they were paid up entirely on any fines levied against them. These routinely were around half a million dollars btw.

So only the rich felons got their right to vote back! Which when you look at rich felons you see that majority of them vote republican. Hmm. Wonder why the Republicans only wanted those people to be able to vote?

Up to that point if you wanted your voting right back you had to apply for one of the spots in an appeal process that governor Rick Scott held 4 times a year and plead to his mercy.

I want to point out that 10% of the total adult population at the time had felonies but 21.5% of Black people had felonies. Many people pushed up into a felony on charges that would otherwise be minor based on police discretion.

You can see why the Governor did not like the idea of letting go of that power.

They won a lawsuit against him showing that not only did he regularly reject black peoples request for voting right but that, unsurprisingly, he favored giving right to Republicans over everyone else. That's why it went to the voters to decide.

And on live television they fought tooth and nail to stop it. In 2020 they passed the ratified version.

But if both parties were the same and voting did nothing then why on earth would anyone spend years fighting a law like that? That's a lot of money and man power that could have been used elsewhere if it didn't actually matter.

Rick Scott started it and Ron DeSantis finished it. Now he's pushing to make more and more things felonies. Like teachers referring to a student by the gender they choose, proving that felonies are weaponized and the goal is voter disenfranchisement.

Americans, these are things we are NOT saying in 2024:

"Voting blue won't solve anything." Yes it will: if enough of us do it, it will solve a problem called Trump's second term in the White House. We unfortunately live in a two-party system. If you refuse to vote, you're effectively voting for Trump. I shouldn't need to explain this to people, yet here we are.

"It doesn't matter who's president. Both candidates are the same anyway." No, they are REALLY not. Biden was never my first choice, and his shipments of arms to Israel are despicable, but don't try to tell me even for a second that a second Trump term would be the same for the world as a second Biden term.

"But voting blue won't fix [fundamental underlying problem in America]." Voting for Democrats cannot fix every issue, this is true. But by saying this and ONLY this you are discouraging people from voting by making them feel hopeless. Voting is one of many tools in our arsenal, not the only tool, but an important one, and it does matter.

"You shouldn't vote blue, you should do [other thing] instead." See above: you can vote and protest and organize at the same time. It's not either/or. You can do it all. Stop discouraging voters from exercising their rights under the guise of leftism.

"Voting is just legitimizing government power. It makes you part of the system." Literally just shut up. Women and people of color didn't fight for their voting rights to have you say things like this. If you live in America and you can legally vote, then you should fucking vote, and vote blue. There is no neutral option.

"Voting blue just makes you complicit in [this bad policy]." Inaction, and allowing Trump to have a second term, is worse for the entire world than any Democrat policy. Yes, even that one. Voting is not about finding a perfect unproblematic candidate. It is about choosing the lesser of two evils.

"Voting doesn't work because—" STOP IT. STOP DISCOURAGING PEOPLE FROM VOTING.

You know who wants you NOT to vote? Trump supporters, that's who. You should be suspicious of ANYONE who is suggesting that your vote doesn't matter, or that both candidates are the same, or that Biden's policy on XYZ means you shouldn't vote for him. Trump supporters aren't trying to get your vote by saying, "Vote for Trump!" They're trying to get your vote by DISCOURAGING YOU FROM VOTING AT ALL.

I don't like Biden either, but Trump is unequivocally worse. Voting doesn't fix everything, but it is the minimum fucking requirement of living in a democracy. Voting for president has real, tangible, immediate impacts on people's lives, and choosing not to vote is not the rebellion you think it is, it is just relinquishing your voice. So fucking vote. anyway this is the time the movie takes place. josh's brother is coaching his schools rugby team, and josh is in it, despite him not wanting to. josh wants to try out for a drama school in australia, but his mum doesn't want him to, saying that that isn't certain, it's unstable, whereas rugby will get him a good support system, and a guaranteed career.

at the same time, josh's friend, grace, is participating in protests against the springbok tour. most of the people protesting are māori and pasifika, with grace being samoan. josh is only half maori, with his maori dad being dead, so he feels disconnected from it. he begins to trail along to different meetings and gatherings, observing all these people together, people like him. after he hears an emotional speech from an old kuia (grandmother) about the racism she's faced, and how she won't support the racism in south africa, hence the protesting, josh is inspired to join the protest (there's this Amazinf moment where josh goes up to her and says "i didn't know all that about your people" and the kuia says "dear, they're your people too" and i cried so hard)

anyway josh is told he isn't allowed to protest because it'd ruin shit with the rugby team and all that and his school woukd expel him. but he does it Anyway and the whole movie is basically about him rebelling against that and him getting his family to understand and him connecting more to other maori people and. Uuuggghhhhh

it made me think about My connection. because like josh i'm only part maori and my only full maori family member is gone and my mum is also disconnected from it neither of us know the language i don't know my maori family i've never been to my land. yet i still call myself maori and why the fuck is that? is it so i can feel special? is it so i don't have to call myself white? i can pass as white as well, thats something that affects it

i never feel Truly maori because i'm not connected to it and i don't look maori. i know that doesn't define it and i know that shouldn't make me feel less valid but it Does and i can't keep pretending it doesn't. my mum is on her journey to connection she's learning the language she's identifying as maori more one of the businesses she owns if centered around her being maori. but i don't feel like i can join her on her journey because. my relationship with her is hard i don't like her at all, the first chance i get i am Running. but also im scared to do that because im scared of Her

so now i'm completely fuckinf alone, with the knowledge that im half maori, a pounamu around my neck that makes me feel like a fuckinf fraud, like someone else shoukd be wearing it, and something inside me. there's something in here, something different. i feel it when im around other maori people, i feel it when im singing waiata, doing a haka, reciting my mihi, when im simply just Existing. i have (what many people have called it) my ancestors standing on my back, but no one to help me pull them down and talk to them

a few days ago i talked with my nana (the white one on my dads side) who i absolutely adore, and i asked her if my other nana (the maori one on my mums side) was political at all, because we were talking about the upcoming elections. she ended up telling me almost everything. everythint no one told me about her. things i don't even think i have the strength to repeat. the thing is, i couldn't ever imagine my mum telling me any of it.

it made me feel closer to my maori nana, but at the same time more disconnected than ever. i'm never gunna be able to talk to her about these issues, or anything like that. and that makes me feel even more alone.

for years i used to think, once i left home, id just tell people i was white, and leave my whakapapa behind. but i dont think i wanr to do that anymore

I wasn’t his fan from the very beginning but in covid, around one and a half year ago, I started watching minecraft and the dream smp

Techno already became my favourite

Over a year ago he posted a video titles “where I’ve been”

Technoblade usually didn’t really upload and us the fans made that an inside joke but when we heard what happened, we were shattered to our cores

Technoblade has been suffering from cancer in his right hand for over a year, in the video he had told us about how he found about his cancer

Hearing the news, many minecraft players put up a purple ribbon on their skin, I don’t play minecraft so I just put that in my usernames, it stands for cancer treatment

Then he made another update video, telling us how he’s going for physical therapy

After that he also made a vr video, said that he woukd continue the series, in the video he sound3d so much better, like his health was getting much better

Today in my area, at 10 o’clock morning I opened my iPad to see if stranger things’ new episodes have been released

When I suddenly saw a notification from techno, I got super excited that maybe he’s gotten better

But then

My heart sank

Shattered into too many pieces to count

As I read the title

“So long nerds”

I immediately clicked on it, forgetting about stranger things.

We were met by techno’s dad and his dog floof.

He told us that technoblade had passed away. At 10 o’clock in the morning, I felt hot steamy salty tears run down my cheeks as I gripped my iPad, hoping it was all a sick joke

That randomly we would hear techno saying “TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIESSS” or “CANCER, IF YOU WISH TO DEFEAT ME, TRAIN FOR ANOTHER 800 YEARSSS” but that never happened

Techno had left a last message for us fans

His real name was Alex, which he greatly trolled us with “Dave”, he wanted us to live long and happy lives

And he told us something we never had heard from him, but we always knew that in our hearts

“I love you guys”

His dad’s voice cracked and he also cried

Telling us about how much techno was struggling to write these words for us.

I and millions of fans, his loved ones, family, friends all miss him dearly

He was an inspiration for millions of kids in the world.

For me, his humour stood above all, he himself for me stood above all

I always had his potato war series in my downloads, cause I knew that if I was ever really sad then his videos will definitely make me laugh when no body else can

I don’t have words to describe how I feel

My condolences goes to his family and friends, who lost him as Alex

We lost him as a legend, a god, an awesome human being, and as technoblade

Maybe only Alex has left us, technoblade will always be remembered in our hearts, he will always be part of our good memories, where I would stay up till 2 just to watch his streams because of different time zones

And now I’m here crying, literally sobbing as I write this, I haven’t been feelings very well but today when I heard about what happened, I sobbed hard.

I remember feeling so excited when I would always hear “startin the streammmm”, it brought me joy and comfort which I am really realising today.

I don't who innthe writing studio decided to take a very heart felt moment in s1 and make it as hollow/hurtful as they possibly could. Idk if it was a writer idk if it was the producer idk if it was Has-fuck-bro. But I am just so utterly disappointed.

Every time without fail we have an opportunity for Starscream and the Cons to grow and have more development as character in frankly an interesting take on the lore (time like wise). We get a reboot of character, because anything new or even interesting is seen as to much.

Yes I focus in Starscream because it acutally looked like "are we going to address that Megatron has done bad things. Bad people can work to be better. But it doesn't undo what was done."

Hell i didn't even want Star and Megs to be friends. But get to the root of it all. To understand , "I hurt you. That was wrong. You don't have to forgive me, but I will work to be better than I was."

So many ppl I think attach to Starscream because part of us want to see him be MORE than just selfish.

Thrash saying "he's as selfish as he comes" the putting HIS LIFE on the line for Hastag , someone who was shown to be self preservation bot. What would he have gotten out of saving Hashtag? Nothing. He would have died and he knew it too.

To disregarding what he said to Hastag and even gleefully accepting he is now crueler than Megatron? No. This is shitty writing. You can not just recon this without even problem setting up why besides "tehe im evil now".

This whole set up to the Cons and Star being evil was "oh they WERE helping them...but Starscream did what he does!"

No. Because if he really was he wouldn't have even peacefully left with nova and sky. He wouldn't have come back to help the Terran. You have an exspeition explanation without even giving he motivation as to WHY ANY of them would do this.

That includes Soundwave and breakdown. Which why Soundwave wasn't the main antagonist idfk why ? Or why Breakdown after running and hiding since s1 woukd join the cons all of a sudden ? It makes no sense.

I won't even go into the wierd characterization of Dorothy going from a hard but soft army mom. Ti barley even being concerned or just acting helpless ??? She literally rode on Megs guns blazing to get her family. Now that he kids are missing she like 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️ oh noooo what do we doooooo.

Alex acted more concerned than her and logical in this one. Idk why their characters were written so oddly. It went from being like a show I wouldn't really know what program was producing it to. Yep, this is is DEF a Nickelodeon show /neg.

Don't get me wrong some shows Nick have produced amaizng. RISE OF TMNT , avatar , and alot more. They can make good shows but alot of the good ones are taken in odd direction, face cancelation or get milked into oblivion...
