Evan was supposed to deliever a message to some random priest. it was an honour to be allowed on earth as an angel, you had to be outstanding. The message read "dont trust those who dont even acknowledge the bad", and evan didnt really think about it too hard. But when events on earth were unfolding, he realized that God had been in his way the whole time. He was the one Barty wasn't supposed to trust. Luckily, Barty didn't give a fuck and from that day on, Evan wad filled by a deep hate by God. The almighty took Evan's whole life from him and tried to take away his one safety boat too. And this was supposed to be the one millions of people trust and love? No, Evan decided to never trust him again.

Meanwhile Barty never really lost his faith. Sure, over time he became bitter towards God, and the more he got to know Evan, the more he resented the almighty. Yet he still believed in the ground principles and teachings of the bible. When he hit rockbottom, Barty prayed to God because he knew no matter what, God would take him back. He didn't know how or if the entity ever listened, but he knew that if He did, He'd be there for Barty and help him. After getting close to Evan and occasionally consuming his blood, God would be able to communicate with Barty. This was the craziest turning point in his life. Now, everytime he prayed, he'd make sure god would listen and wait for answers and help. Barty knew that this relationship wasn't the way it was supposed to, he knew he should give more into it, but at the same time, there was no way he'd actually worship God. Getting advice? sure. believing his existence? Yes. But respecting it and active support? No. From week to week, Barty lost his trust more and more, and even though he'd never give it up completely, he dishonoured his extremely catholic family by breaking all the rules and not giving a fuck about morals.

Evan had never been religious, God was just a concept that people made up to feel better about themselves. But when he tried to summon a demon, his intention was to ask how the true god was like, so Evan could live and believe the truth. over time, his Catholicism increased steadily, despite the horrible things he did to others, he read and studied the bible, prayed and went to church / confession once a week. Because God was real, and even if Evan would go to hell for murder and torture, he'd get into the good parts of it, because trusted gods plan. He'd probably say smth like "Obviously i killed thay guy! Last night, god told me to do so, its all part of his plan!" and if someone said that was blasphemy, Evan would answer with "I'm allowed, im catholic".

Meanwhile Barty... you would say that since he's been to hell and is hyperaware of God's existence, he's catholic or at least satanic (after all he knows satan personally and can't talk to his hell-bestie on earth anymore) but no. He doesn't pray to anyone, and he won't ever start. He says he loathes God for taking his mother away from him and forcing him to be tortured all his life... At this point Evan doesn't know who Barty even is, so the whole time he's like "????". But they figure it out at some point :) Yet, it makes him genuinely angry that Evan is becoming religious because of him. Why would the love of his life pray to the one entity that hurt him so much? God and their opposite views on him are some of their only fight points. While all Barty sees in God is a fake saviour who is lying through his teeth, Evan acknowledges His flaws, yet praises him for the good things. He doesnt care about breaking the rules - he's thankful for not being in jail and he's thankful for meeting Barty.

They both arent near perfect and neither of them has a "healthy" relationship to God, but I don't think that's possible in any universe.

Summary

Both versions of Rosekiller has one person that is more religious than the other one. While fallenangel!evan x priest!barty built on religion and wouldn't be able to exist without both of them being religious, there is no technical need for scientist!evan to become religious. vampire!barty might've showed him that hell is real, but there was no "real" reason for him to convert to Christianity, read the bible and confess. He knew that no matter what he did, he wasn't ready to change his behaviour for anything or anyone and would end up in hell anyway. I think, for him God was like a parental figure that had been missing his entire life, and before vampire!barty met him, scientist!evan knew he'd get no answer and wasn't even ready to try and become religious. But now that he could get an answer through vampire!barty, who showed him spells for contact, he felt like this was everything ever missing. A neglected child finally getting attention from the parent it needed his whole life.

The reason for Christianity/Catholicism being the only religion represented is because it was one I grew up with and I know the most about, also due to most of my friends being Christian. The convo thread on twt devolved into an echo chamber that essentially boiled down to the old fool's adage "If I don't understand it, it must be stupid and not worth it."

This really triggered me because

now you werent the new royal of the school as you also werent unknown to the average person.

hawkins high school was your school though. you knew almost every new kid, old kid, super senior and freaky gossip that wafted through these noisy halls.

but everyone knew you, surface level that is, because you were such a sore thumb.

as other girls sported their pastels and puffed out shirts, your clothes were tight one day, super baggy the next. your signature look was sporting shades for no reason at all.

and because you often felt overlooked until the moment you changed your wardrobe, you were a hard shell of a person.

they'd ask stupid questions like your sign... which you'd lie about because what they dont know wont kill em... especially if all they wanted to do was fuck you.

but as soon as they'd think you were their arm candy you'd give them a cold shoulder.

nothing like frost bite but more like, "we're not together so dont act like we are." you always clarified.

it was the beginning of your senior year.

you sported your daily normal. a white corset, with an orange and green windbreaker you won during some pep rally sophomore year and denim jeans pulled up just enough that nobody noticed your belly button piercing you'd gotten over the summer.

in your eyes you dressed normally, this was your slight individuality making a name for itself.

some bits of your wardrobe pulling from chaka khan and several other flashy artists.

but as you walked to your locker, eyes bouncing between your front and paper schedule with your locker number at the top.

obviously, every look and murmur bounced off your skin like a ball, totally oblivious to them in the first place. before you finally came to your stop. your hand ghosted over the lock right before a shrilling voice you'd hope to not hear anymore.

"so... youre gonna just not tell me you were gonna wear this? what are you trying to do? make me jealous?" the voice said so highly of themselves, leaning into your ear before you eyes slowly scanned over to identify it as.

"what did i tell you Tommy... we. are. not. a. thing." a stern tone laced those words as you shoved your things into your new locker as you heard him scoff.

"secondly, my damage is that you gave me flowers... that werent even what i liked... and it looked like you plucked them from my neighbors yard." cue a eye roll before you shut the locker before peeking over his shoulder and seeing Steve saunter down the hall with Nancy and Tina next to him.

"anyway your best bud's are on the hunt for you. see you.. never again?" you smiled a cross one at him before making a b line to your history period. ironic.

it was the first day so of course the teachers are going to drone on about their expectations for the quarter but 4 years of the same drill was something you just didn't pay much attention to.

you glanced out the window, tracing the tree's and their branches with your eyes, not paying much attention to the cloud of cologne and cigarette that lingered next to you.

at first it didnt register in your mind that the blonde mullet with a blue jeaned body was new to the class.

chemistry had so much more things to acknowledge instead of a new body in a wooden seat.

he on the other hand, eyed the back of your head like a hawk.

he couldnt see your face as you hadnt turned around since the class began.

when he first arrived to the school he was immediately in the counselors office.

getting his schedule but in the same breath getting oggled at by the almost senior citizen women of the staff.

he expected all eyes to be on him from start to finish as he walked from his roaring camero to the inside of the school.

it didn’t take a hard one to figure that Billy was a slight narcissist. thinking so highly of himself that the sun shined to only warm up his golden californian tan.

but that was tossed out the window as he saw you.

having walked from your locker, curving around 3 people who he concluded were the “popular” ones of the school.

the guy you’d been talking to approached the 3, going on a slight tangent before pointed toward you, whose figure went tiny from the distance as you’d then enter a room.

“must have some history.” he thought before immediately sensing the eyes of girls peering into his flesh like lasers.

seeing the 4 popular kids look at him, the tallest with curly brown waves almost uncomfortable in his presence.

Billy looked it over as he then scanned his schedule, about to figure out where his bell was before a fluffy haired brunette ran up to him.

“are you new?” she asked, eyes batting up at him as if she was hoping he was fake.

“yeah… what gave it away, sweetheart?” he smirked at her as a uncontrollable ugly giggle came from her before her hand flew to her mouth.

“i could um… show you around.” she spoke halfway confidently before her face went beet red.

“lead the way.”

billy went through a couple classes, not paying too much attention to the teachers and mainly letting himself bask in the new fame he was receiving from his female classmates.

purposely giving bedroom eyes to the girls who were giggling like absolute maniacs at the sight of him.

all until he was now in chemistry. he was a little late so entering the class definitely caused him to be the main point of attention as the teacher was about to question him but couldnt as she did not know his name.

only instructing him to take a seat in the only other available chair. the chair that was next to you.

he walked back to you, seeing your head facing away from everyone. still completely in your own state of mind.

he caught a slight glimpse of your face but still couldnt make you out as he wanted to thoroughly gaze at you to figure out what you looked like.

now before the question arises, he did not know why he so suddenly seemed so interested in you. was it because you sported a hairstyle that nobody else seemed to sport?

was it the fact that a little bit of your chest was on full frontal while every other person definitely had their entire bodies covered?

or even the fact that soon as he sat down in your presence, his nose got filled with the way you smelled.

overrall he was now curious about who this person was that stood out.

head still in the clouds you didnt really pay attention to your body picking itself from the chair, but also not paying attention to the sudden hand in your face, being held out with the sole intention for you to shake.

your gaze slowly traveled up the body of a rather muscular guy before locking eyes with blue ones, crafted with long lashes. a cheeky smile decorated his face and his blonde curly mullet was routinely to the back of his head but he sported a superman curl in the front. you smiled back kindly.

“Billy.” he directly introduced himself. his palm was definitely calloused and rough but it looked like it would decorate yours nicely.

“Y/N…” a smile spread across your glossed lips, smizing effortlessly right when your hand slid into his.

he squeezed gently, mainly wanting to keep your soft hand wrapped in his before you slipped right from his grasp and stepped around him, following the flood of students who made their ways into the halls onto their now lunch period.

he tried to follow after you but you were like oil and he was water… you were twice as slippery.

months had passed with him coming to chemistry, sitting next to you and often asking you random questions.

continuing on to Halloween. you’d often spot Billy strutting away from his little sister he often called a brat, only to directly flip when in front of Tommy, Tina and… still have yet to catch the other girls’ name.

Steve and Nancy have… disappeared. like havent been spotted but often sporadically.

Billy, tried for the past 2 months to keep you in his loop. to even be cool with Tommy and Tina until you told him about your history with Tommy.

now unbeknownst to you he had a slight tinge of jealousy.

Tommy got to you first but it was immediately aided with the knowledge that you turned him down and didnt even go as far as first base with him.

he was now in the winning field.

this was the most unofficial breakup... ever.

There's also the part that Julian and everyone know that Garak would in some cases hurt people he cares about like trying to blow up the world with Julian on it. But also people knowing that it'd have to be a very big reason for Garak to do that. That what he'd do to or for Julian is different than he'd do for or to others. Because it's Julian.

Does Julian know about what Garak did in in the pale moonlight? Even if he does, I don't know if it would make a lot of difference to his view of Garak, because he seems to accept that Garak does those sorts of things. Garak doesn't (really, for real) pretend to be someone who won't do those things. He doesn't pretend to morality. He doesn't act like he expects to be seen as a good guy. But Sisko. Sisko does present himself as moral. Sisko is a different person than Garak.

Kiraaaaaaa. Her deep knowledge of cardassian capacity for betrayal and being terrible. Seeing Julian in the position of others she saw hurt. Not to mention I always wonder about her thoughts around Julian's relationship with Garak vis a vis her ingrained views of collaborators.

But also her ability to overcome her rage, because she's had to learn it.

Does Garak have to pretend he HAS betrayed Julian? Or does he protest his innocence? Is it him doing an elaborate ruse where he's annoyed Julian won't just give in and believe Garak did this? Or is he desperately grateful Julian won't believe it? Or both!

what Julian knows about ITPM is never discussed in canon as far as I remember BUT in A Stitch in Time Garak says that Julian knows about the events of the episode. he doesnt go into detail on what exactly Julian knows however, and also its beta canon so it isnt actually canon. im inclined to believe that Julian knows about Sisko assaulting Garak and thats about all he knows. but I do agree that I dont think knowing would change his view of Garak- Julian has proven that he knows that Garak can and will do these things, and he accepts that about him, even if he doesnt like it. and yes, Sisko is very different from Garak! he tries very hard to stick to his morals, but he will compromise on his morals if he thinks its necessary, and while in private he might acknowledge that he's doing some fucked up shit, to others he will present himself as moral because he has to. its a very tasty character element of his to me

yeah Kira's view on Julian and Garak's relationship does fascinate me. with her history and views on collaborators I think she would absolutely hate it for a long while, before eventually just begrudgingly accepting it. she knows its not the same thing as collaboration of course, but shes got a lot of trauma around that particular topic so one can hardly blame her for having a reflexive hatred for it. also, Garak is Garak and he's outright bigoted against Bajorans, even if his actual role in the Occupation is unknown, so yeah really cant blame her for hating him. I dont think she could ever really like him, I think she just learns to tolerate him and his friendship with Julian, even if she doesnt like it. its why I think it'd be so interesting for her, who knows intimately just how cruel Cardassians can be, to be the one who's levelheaded about it and help with the search for the truth because despite her own dislike for Garak, she does know that so much more would have to be at play if he did, in fact, betray Julian. it'd be interesting to explore her overcoming her initial rage and realizing that she doesnt actually believe he would do it

I think Garak would be in full self-destruct mode with this kind of thing and I think he would refuse to confirm either way, but would lean into the idea that he did do it. Garak loves to make people mad at him and do his best to burn bridges when he gets into a bad state, so while I dont think he would outright declare what happened one way or the other, I do think he would be vague as hell to try and lead everyone into believing he did do it but not give them anything they can prove. try to get himself kicked off the station, but not outright killed, because if he did actually say he did it then I dont think anybody would be able to stop Miles O'Brien from wringing his neck. I think he works himself into a very bad spiral, is very much not helpful, and responds badly to everything because if it's all gonna go south then he's gonna blow it up himself. internally I think he'd be desperately grateful Julian doesnt believe he would hurt him, but also terrified and angry about it because sentiment is the greatest weakness of all, is it not?

Homestuck^2 sucked because none of the trolls actually aged like they were supposed to. And there is a reason why I've spent the last 1 or 2 hour complaining about obtuse homestuck lore and it's simple it shows a lack of care.

It shows that Homestuck^2 on the surface is a mediocre at best adaptation of Homestuck but as soon as the thin surface layer is scrapped away, it shows a hollow project, it shows a project that generally proves itself to be a homestuck thing but it doesn't show passion, I could probably right now find you any HS fan and ask them what makes adult trolls different to young trolls and they could probably easily tell me how and why. So why couldn't a whole team of people attempt at the very least, a version like that?

Its little things like the trolls not aging/aging like humans to the damn table to the lack of acknowledgement for already accepted and semi canonised reps of queer culture in favour for rep that punches down to the outright ridiculous swivels in personality that's prove to me at least that HSE and HS^2 were dead on arrival.

For mystreet well tbh. uhh. s1-3 zane is the only one who had a solid like. arc (?) about opening up and making friends. (not that he should be opening up to these ppl theyre all assholes to him lmfao) so much happens in mystreet and the quality, ranges. s1-3 was like a sitcom but then s4-6 were so much idk.

"a bunch of people with self proclaimed 'eldest daughter trauma' (they dont have eldest daughter trauma. they were 14 and asked to do one or two chores around the house and help their 9 y/o sibling with their homework sometimes and they think this is comparable to a 15 y/o who has to work part time jobs to feed their siblings bc their parents are crackheads) project on jd by saying he was 'parentified', but also refuse to acknowledge the possibility of him acting like a surrogate parent granting the POSSIBILITY of abuse"

i am completely alone with zero support in a house i hate, doing as much housework as possible so it can be manageable both in day to day life and so its not hard to just leave when i move, and i still am not getting any help getting rid of the stuff.

i have almost no money and i have to pay to take the train to buy food or neccessities and i was dumb enough to not send a letter sooner so i dont know if ill get my money until after christmas or not, i havent bought more than one christmas gift either cus im fucking broke, and i dont feel anywhere in my body that i want to spend time making something for anyone. my brother still isnt done paying me my money back and literally hasnt talked to me since last time he asked for money, my dad hasnt fucking talked to me in ages and the one time he called in summer it was out of boredom to ask when i was gonna visit them, none of my extended relatives talk to me at all so what the fuck is the point there, and my mom is just. a fucking bitch.

i had her removed as a legal guardian, not even on purpose initially but because folkenemnda or whoever sent her a letter before i was able to have a meeting, so she ofc got fucking offended and now has decided sve cant be involved in anything. she cant call electricians, she cant help fix the house, its "too difficult" for her to have to talk to me or my new legal guardian instead of just buying stuff right away, and she told ME to get a new phone service provider. i had to fix that myself. on top of her being, once again, a useless bitch. dont touch my stuff i say, its fucking embarrassing that you have dirty laundry she implies while moving all my furniture around and doing shit to my kitchen while refusing to acknowledge its my house but still treating it like her own, and not fixing the internet again after they unplugged it.

so i have no access to internet besides my last 150 mb of phone data unless i call some guy to fix it, but they wont be here until next year most likely so its pretty much pointless, and if i buy phone data i have to pay. so if i cant get it fixed ill be literally alone for two weeks straight with no people at all around me and noone i can talk to on the internet. except for fucking. christmas. idk about new years eve. and i dont even fucking like my family, i dont even want to spend time with them, they treat me like shit.

the ac doesnt work since mom got the electricians to look at everything but never actually hired anyone to fix shit and now is completely uncooperative. and after they checked the fireplace in that control like two years ago im not allowed to use it, and mom never actually got that fixed either even though shes been in charge of absolutely everything since forever.

plus both heaters downstairs are set to 27c or max and it still is only like 17 or 19 or so, i have an entire room in the house i straight up cant use cus theres no power and no light and 17c in there and its full of stuff i asked mom to take to the thrift store for me 6 months ago. also i cant leave either heater on if im boiling water or washing dishes cus that overloads the entire fucking thing.

and its just like so much bullshit all at once and ive been spacing out for like 2 hours while writing this cus i get so frustrated and upset and angry and sad. its not fucking fair that my parents literally dont care about me, yet im expected to be fucking sociable and call and visit them and reach out. they didnt reach out to me or support me at all when i was a kid, or a teenager, or an adult, why the fuck would i want to deal with them. but if i dont go to visit them on christmas or i point out that hey. youre not really being fair or nice to me at all, hell breaks loose cus i should be more than happy with the crumbs they give me, as if theyre the best people in the world for fucking. calling once every six months or letting me celebrate a holiday with them.
