I remember the uh- the reveal aus that weren’t really reveal aus cos caleb didn’t have the energy to process the fact that oh yeah cool he knows his dads name now he also has three exams and an essay due so sure whatever bye and i never wrote cors reaction so-

but yeah beyond that, despite how much i love the character, caleb really didn’t develop much of an actual au

there was maybe slightly more plot in tbe xover with my musician lc bastard? that tbh I don’t even think of as existing in a different universe he’s always caleb’s roommate to me in my head even tho he never developed a name

but there wasn’t much if there was anything at all

Courtesy of that last rb by @iinfernal thinking very hard (very affectionately) about love in the form of, we are going to work to keep each other on track. Especially with Caleb and Beau. Because like. its not just about newfound acceptance, people who will give you the benefit of the doubt and help you improve, people who see your worst and love you anyway, people who will forgive you.

Like its about that! But its also about- i trust you to drag me back if i stray. i trust you to call me out, to push back. i am putting my back to you- you will protect it, and you will also pull me back if i wander.

The first big backstory reveal between Beau and Caleb was an exchange, not a kindness. it was, tell me why you are afraid of fire, and ill get you into the library. Caleb laid out some of the corners of his guilty conscience, to Nott, with all of her faith in him, (he is my boy), to Beau, with her skepticism and brusque curiosity, and it was not meant as a soft gesture. It was not a call for forgiveness, or absolution- it was an item for barter, a warning, an admission of guilt.

and Beau- still unsure, still rough around the edges and rude and defensive and angry, shell-shocked and out of her depth did not provide forgiveness, or kindness. She said something along the lines of- good god, you know thats fucked up, right? i didnt ask for this, what the fuck.

She said something like: you know what you need to do now, then, right? prevent this guy from hurting more people. This is what you've gotta do now, I think- this is what we'll do-

And Caleb gets into the library, and casts haste on Beau in a bar fight, and there is something to be said about love shaped like a willingness to disagree, to push back, to say things wrong but try to say it anyway.

Caleb, and Beau, arguing. Beau is suspicious and Caleb is ready to run, and "the problem with friends is you have to care about them". Running into old injuries and boundaries, working to learn them, to fight to communicate. Apologies that are awkward but sincere. Kindness that is misshappen but intentional.

Caleb and Beau, butting heads, poking fun, trusting the other person to be suspicious of them, when it really counts.

The Mighty Nein, making contingency plans, Yasha sticking close to caleb and cooing over his animal forms and ready, ready, for the worst. What a nightmare. Thank god. "Im glad it was us."

What love. What immense care. Years on in, and it all still comes back to:

I definitely get being torn about TOH finale bc it was amazing in many areas and the crew worked so hard to get it all together so if there was something you didn’t like about it it’s a bit of a guilty feeling and whatnot, while also understanding that they couldn’t do all they wanted and stuff. I’m mostly just glad we can come together and celebrate this amazing show.

But I do find it annoying if someone goes “well if you didnt like this thing you just don’t get the themes and purposes” like. sometimes I do get what they were going for but it wasn’t to my liking ok. It having meaning does not mean it must be liked, and also maybe it doesn’t have a meaning, maybe it was just because Disney cut it short so they needed to wrap it up early and couldn’t elaborate. It’s ok to admit that.

Most of all I’m just so glad the crew was able to get it done after being sabotaged through everything

i keep seeing more Caleb discourse in the tag here's my thoughts on the bullshit lol.

To get it out of the way, I was indifferent to Caleb in the main story and I saw him as my brother since we call the same women grandma. We were adopted, but still family. I found him a lil annoying, but that's partly due to the English dub lol. I also can see the read that "grandma" ran a group home and kids would come and go. Caleb and I had the longest overlapping time/visited grandma the most making if feel less incesty. Its been a bit since I played this section so this is all based on memory. lmao I just remember being confused on if he was our sibling or a really close friend-of-the-family kinda deal. He wasn't there longer enough to grab me, but wouldn't have minding seeing more about him/mc's past in general growing up. I also don't like incest and try to avoid content relating to it.

I think its unfair that each side of the fanbase is painting the other side as fucked up. like painting it as a "Chinese/Asian" culture thing to like incest is FUCKED. y'all know that step brother/sister (hell the whole ddlg shit) is a huge western porn category too. I'm not saying its good or I like it, but incest is a kink worldwide. Also acting as one culture as a monolith is fucked up. I know that its common in Asian cultures to refer to people as "sister", "brother", "auntie" in other cultures which isn't what I'm talking about. I also don't get why the incest shippers are so confused people find it gross? Some of the vocal incest/dark content/proshippers/whatever make it you MO to like "gross" and problematic content and be super loud about it. I don't care to agrue about it (just keep it tagged appropriately and age gated to 18+ spaces).

Translation vs Localization is always a hot topic. I feel its hard at the moment to see how it will affect the plot with the adoption termination vs death certificate to see if the localization change is "good" or "bad". In my opinion, I feel like getting the death certificate makes more sense like after the explosion they had to recover the bodies/investigating their deaths. Since it was investigated, they might had to keep it classified? I find it weird if they were dead and then "after death" we are no longer related unless one of us got readopted? If cyborg Caleb is real maybe Caleb got readopted by whoever gave him the body which i guess would make sense, but why remove grandma? I don't speak kor/jpn/chn or know their legal system(or mine for that matter) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though it makes sense for family,nest of kin, to pick up the death certificate unless I'm power of attorney for some reason. So, even trying to avoid incest allegations its still kinda there. TO BE HONEST I'm mainly annoyed people are calling it a translating error when its a localization change. Overall I feel like localizations can make good changes, but they can also make bad ones its a case by case thing and also personal preference. I do get the upset about it not being 1:1 translation too.

The other complaint I saw is we have Zayne as childhood friend why do we need another which is?? I think we could have another childhood friend li since they aren't the same personality. Usually we have childhood trios with the quiet, more reserved, keeps-us-out-of-trouble bestie (Zayne) and then we have the more reckless, playful, outgoing bestie (Caleb). If you don't like the childhood friend trope thats fine and having two li share it may annoy you, but it makes it seem that there are zayne and zayne 2 when its not the case lol.

Anyways, I think robot boyfriend could be fun if real, but I'm not a fan of brother/sister fucking so I hope they keep it on the downlow if they must cater to that subsection of the player base. Again I don't care if you like it for the sibling shit, I hope personally there is an easy way for me to avoid it. I can kinda see bother he's our brother and that he's a close almost family bestie. I am interested in seeing what Caleb is gonna add to the lore though. Personally, I'll just rewrite that Caleb and I were really close childhood friends. He would be at grandma's house so much its almost like he lived there or shes the god parent to him or something ^q^

The only thing I don't like is to get all the awards and goodies you do kinda have to play all routes all the time. Main story it makes sense, but in events I get annoyed having to also play the other li routes I'm indifferent/don't really care for. Also, each card gives us diamonds for playing so even if I don't like Caleb I want the diamonds to pull my favs. So, it would be harder to avoid the content to a point esp if they really lean into it. This is all based on limited information too, but I have a feeling Caleb will have a big difference between kor/jpn/chn server vs eng server if this small message is different. I am curious though how much has changed between each ver aside from va direction.

Thinking about Archie meeting Oliver and Bailey

the funny thing is i have considered the idea they still exist in this au, but like, as archie's younger siblings

and that it sometimes adds to archie's feeling of being unwanted or a burden when he was younger, because he's the child causing so much drama in comparison to his drama free siblings who were biologically made...unlike him

adopted kids feeling inferior or unwanted due to the existence of their parents having bio kids is sadly something that does happen, there def is a social pressure that bio kids are somehow better or that adopted kids aren't "Your kids" enough because you don't share dna

archie of course does share dna with at least hunter through caleb and Philp being brothers, but not being the product of both his parents and instead being an ineffective clone of an evil emperor who is the reason they have to go to the principles every week would still probably suck in his eyes

i do think he would love any younger siblings he had, even if there was some resentment underneath tho

the idea has been tossed around at least, like it's not canon rn but obviously i've considered it

i do think under that circumstance hunter and willow would make sure to make archer feel as special as possible so he always knows the fact he isn't their bio child doesn't make him less of their son and that his siblings aren't here to replace him

they would of probably had other kids once archie was a little more independent purely because they wanted him to get as much attention and love as possible until they felt he was ready to share that attention due to his circumstances

he is a special case, being the clone of belos after all, makes sense they want to try and help him settle into this world and support him for a good while till he's capable of handling some of it on his own

and i do think his siblings would look up to archie as their big older brother no matter where he came from, even if they wouldn't fully understand everything archie is dealing with and going through

So in the Axe AU, I was under the impression that Philip was overprotective of Hunter. Does Hunter actually like going on missions with his dad? Also, what the heck do they even do? Is the Golden Guard still a thing, and Hunter runs errands for the emperor the same as the Black Guard?

Philip is always overprotective but in his owl a lil bit twisted ways, since he's very used to be in dangerous situations starting from when he traveled through the Boiling Isles and ending with his own experiments. And because he is a workaholic and at the same time actually wants to spend time with his sone and teach him everything he knows yes, sometimes he takes him on his missions and allows him to help as a lab assistant!

On missions Philip and his crew usually mostly research on dangerous creatures or wild witches that went mad and started to terrorize peaceful (if you can call witches and demons) inhabitants, but when its with Hunter most likely its just a peaceful trip that Philip called a mission to make it official and because Hunter really wanted to participate in one. Tho its not going as peaceful as he would like it to go heheXD

Nope, Golden Guard is not a thing in here tho Hunter could name himself like that after his dad, but it more of a game cus Philip is a role model for him and Hunter really wants to be like his father, smart, dangerous and mysterious. When he was a kid he though that his fathers mask was very cool and he wanted one for himself too and later Caleb made one for him as a gift :3

It was so devastating for him to learn later that Philip couldn't take this mask off in front of anyone even if he wanted to.
