Finally this thing is finished. Took way longer than I thought it would. Well, it had a bit of a sour ending at first (venting and all), so I wanted to bring it back around a little. And the frames doubled lol.
But here we are, with our second comic.

AFFECTIVE EMPATHY: feeling other people's emotions. like, if someone is crying, you get sad. If someone is angry, you get angry. if someone is really excited, your emotions match that energy. etc.
HYPEREMPATHY: you are very very sensitive to the emotions of others and even non-intense emotions will frequently greatly affect your emotions.
LOW/NO AFFECTIVE EMPATHY: you almost never take on other people's emotions just bc they're feeling them. low-but-not-No empathy may experience "exception" people or feel empathy for really intense emotions, or large groups of people all feeling the emotion.
NORMAL is somewhere in between but hard for me to describe. probably just like... people's feelings influence yours, but not to the point of frequent distress or impaired functioning? like they definitely have an impact on your emotions but not an Intense one unless their emotions are also quite intense.
if you are AUTISTIC and have comorbidities, feel free to say what those are. if you are ALLISTIC/NON-AUTISTIC, feel free to clarify if you are completely neurotypical (no mental disorders or disabilties) or if you have something else (ADHD, bipolar, ASPD, OCD, whatever).

Autistic culture is denying that you are autistic because of your personality traits.
I’m hyper-empathetic and experience most emotions on an extreme level. I’m also very imaginative and prefer creative activities over rational ones. I enjoy socializing (despite it being difficult for me) and I really wish I could make friends.
But I was told that all autistic people are emotionless, asocial, and behave robotically. Guess what? None of that is even mandatory in the diagnostic criteria!!!
Every neurodivergent person is different. People have their own personalities and identities outside of the stereotypes about their neurology.

empathy fucked
[pt: empathy fucked /end pt]
A flag for when your empathy is fucked for any reason. This can include hyperempathy, hypoempathy, empathyflux, or any other kind of empathy abnormality.
I made this to describe my weird relationship with empathy and how I personally only experience it for those I'm close to, but it can be used for anyone who feels like they can describe their empathy as "fucked."
Tumblr media
Lots of points of inspiration for this one! The flag template is by @/fantasy-store's empathy flags the center colors are from @/neopronouns' hyperempathy, hypoempathy(link) and empathyflux(link) flags, and the colors on either side are from @/fairystar-fag's high and low empatix(link) flags because they're gorgeous
Tysm to @/radiomogai for the help with the id. The flag template had me a lil stumped
Tumblr media
[flag id: A rectangular flag with five horizontal stripes of equal width. Each stripe has a small rectangle of a different color at some point on the stripe, with the rectangles starting in the top right corner on the first stripe and ending in the bottom left corner on the last stripe. The first stripe is dark blue with a bright green rectangle. The second stripe is indigo with a dark teal rectangle, the stripe after the rectangle being yellow. The third stripe is blue with a periwinkle rectangle, the stripe after the rectangle being orange. The fourth stripe is light blue with a lavender rectangle, the rest of the stripe being deep red. The last stripe starts with a pink rectangle, the remainder of the stripe being dark plum. /end id]
[divider 1 id: a divider on a transparent background of a rotating chain with the word "links" in the center also rotating /end id]
[divider 2 id: a divider on a transparent background of a rotating chain /end id]

I’m trying out a new brush and I really like it and want to switch but I feel bad for my old brush.
Like it’s good it’s done nothing wrong, but I’m still replacing it. I’m so sorry dude, we’ve been through so much.
I’m making myself feel better by thinking of it going into retirement.

shoutout to hyperempathy people who actually end up being 'worse' at empathy than their standard empathy peers because you get relation fatigue faster bcs of heightened empathy, because the amount of empathy you feel is overwhelming, because your hyperempathy is caused by something that makes it difficult to show empathy. you deserve the best

Hey I know I focus on low empathy disorders (esp. because I have ASPD) and this sometimes extends to talking about how many empaths demonize us but:
Shout-out to people with high empathy/hyperempathy that aren't perfect angels 24/7
I can't talk on it much because I'm Literally The Opposite but the people who have been most accepting about my lack of empathy have been people with "too much" of it.
Whether you *are* super sweet or whether your empathy manifests in difficulty controlling anger or pain you feel from others (or both, as is common) you have just as much of a right to your struggles as all of us without empathy. You're not overemotional, you're reacting proportionally to what you feel. Even if you were, you deserve to be treated with kindness and without judgement!!
Solidarity between people with low/no empathy and people with hyperempathy forever (つ˘◡˘)づ💚

"I will not be tired to repeat that the autistic world is not made by silence and coldness, of a lack of emotions and stimuli: it is the contrary. It is an internal rich world, extremely stimulating and even too much stimulated; it is a world of quick thoughts and strong emotions, too intense to be handled. "

Some Izzy Hands portrait I drew recently. They're not complete but I never finish my drawings so I thought I'd post them anyway. I miss OFMD so much so I cope with drawing my favorite.

no more discourse about high empathy vs low empathy autistics. neither one makes you a better or worse person. let’s all hold hands

aempathy is not bad, evil, etc. and hyperempathy is not some extra-good form of empathy. all experiences with empathy (or lack thereof) are morally neutral, and none of them are inherently harmful or helpful (sometimes they're neither). it all varies from person to person, from situation to situation.
and even if mortality somehow were linked to empathy, or the people involved are genuinely doing harm... those people still don't deserve ableism/sanism. they deserve support and resources to live a healthier, happier life - not just for others' sake, but for their own, too.
are you noticing a theme here? the morality of individuals is not a measure of whether oppression is okay or not.

Sorry had to delete the poll- round two of autism stereotype polls!
Just a reminder that low empathy does not equal bad person, people with personality disorders are not inherently abusive, and self-proclaimed “empaths” can fuck off

Idk why people brag about and tout high empathy/hyperempathy. This shit sucks. What do you mean I feel personal grief over dropping chicken nuggets on the floor.
