Potentially controversial mohun opinion:

The water mechanics in tri were fine and capcom should bring it back actually.

With the new slingshot/wireshot/whatever tf the grappling hook thing is called on top of how much easier it is to mount in these recent games it feels much more feasible to do underwater combat, it should be a lot easier now. It also allows for more dynamic fighting rather than “well now I gotta wait for it to come back on land” (for those of us who don’t have projectiles) that plagues earlier gen fights like Plesioth. I know Duna has a couple of moves that you can interrupt by destroying scenery on time but… you’re still ultimately waiting for it. These newer consoles can in theory handle it. It also adds to the ‘open world’-ness they’re going for, there’s already sections you can dive into- just gotta remove those rails. It could make for a fun content update that has a whole new area and all our old (and maybe some new?) swimming friends.

I liked it and I think the folks who are finding the games as too easy might enjoy the added difficulty of additional axes to pay attention too and play with. Or not. Idk. *I* would like to see it return though. Ceadeus’ theme is a fucking banger and new players deserve to hear it.

This is such a nuanced issue tho 😭. If someone can't handle that you take time for yourself to engage in your hobbies in a healthy way, they are absolutely in the wrong and deserve to be dumped when they give you ultimatums like that.

But if someone is so deep into their hobby they're neglecting themself and/or their partner and duties? Their partner is in the right to bring up their concerns or break up with them over it. An ultimatum is still probably not the way to go, but sometimes you just end up at your breaking point.

I love the Leverage episodes where they're truly just psychologically tormenting a guy.

Like obviously they first establish that the guy is a terrible guy who does terrible guy things. And we really do need the terrible guy to be doing a lot of terrible guy things because this is kinda an ethical nightmare, but don't worry, they are reliably doing a lot of terrible guy things.

But then it is just like "hey, let's convince this guy that he's made first contact with aliens and also that aliens are trying to kill him" or "hey, let's make this guy believe he's contracted a deadly disease and is going to die in quarantine because medical staff are abandoning him" or "hey, let's first try to persuade this journalist that the government is secretly creating Guantanamo Bay 2: Underground Boogaloo in your backyards and when she doesn't run with that story, let's then make her think that oops the government accidentally leaked some kind of bioweapon into the waterways and now water is gonna kill you instead."

with the recent news of iskall (and stress) leaving hermitcraft, a quick reminder: do not watch any drama videos speculating on what has happened, or trying to sensationalise the issue. dont trust anything anyone says about his departure unless it comes from a hermit or close friend of iskall's. when bad things goes down in ""clean"" communities, drama channels jump on that shit like sharks to blood. dont give them the time of day. dont feed into the speculation

you can absolutely be upset, or disappointed, or conflicted. but dont let yourself succumb to watching every drama video trying to get answers - most dont care about those affected, or the hermitcraft members, or even iskall. they want the cheap buck of making a video about something going wrong in a generally drama-free community. best thing we can do is support the remaining hermits and be on the look out for information verified by hermits themselves

i have to say the relationship that smoker has with the asl brothers is fucking hilarious. luffy pissed him off so badly one singular time that he followed the guy halfway into the grand line and then also into the new world just to track him down. he had to accept help from his crew in defeating crocodile and luffy did it via becoming a water balloon. and then tashigi, who he's responsible for, cried about it. he hates luffy and luffy calls him smokey and doesn't gaf. ace.... do i even have to say anything. they did it nasty sloppy style. ace annoyed the fuck out of him and you KNOW it. smoker tried to confront him in alabasta and luffy SMASHED ALL THREE OF THEM THROUGH A WALL. and then luffy escaped because ace played diversion! and smoker can't even Actually do anything because ace is a wb pirate and he canNOT afford to anger them. and sabo. i just know when smoker met sabo in movie stampede he was already like fuck me why is the ra here and then sabo was like "luffys my little brother" and smoker just wanted to straight up kill himself. he was like FUCK ME theres ANOTHER ONE OF THEM ????? and then he has to fucking work with the guy for the greater good. again.

and the rest of the family too. he can't even yell at garp because he's one of the few superior officers smoker respects. smoker's life is just a constant aneurysm and you KNOW it's bad when the one he, a marine, has the least beef with is the fucking LEADER OF THE REVOLUTIONARY ARMY. smoker i hope your blood pressure goes down because between this and the cigars you're gonna die before you reach 40

Arkveld is really smart when you think about it design wise.

Ghosts don’t exist in Monster Hunter, so how would they make a ghost flagship (who recall, is titled “The White Wraith”)?

Obviously there’s the design, a wyvern whose wrists look shackled and bound by broken chains, a shaggy white coat of fur and cloaked wings… It’s chains burning with ghostly white flames before turning to a bloody, vengeful red.

Yeah yeah design is awesome… But lore! How does Arkveld lorewise connect to a ghost?

Simple… Arkveld is an ecological ghost.

Its species is dead, it is dead, the world has adapted and reshaped without it. Arkveld’s species is artificially revived, mankind’s machinations bringing something that should be dead back into the world of the living.

Something dead, dragged forcefully back onto the living world.
