What are your thoughts on the Nokoru/Kamui crackship? Nokoru is supposed to be high school aged in X, so~~~

Ohhh I thought Nokoru was supposed to be around 21 in X, that's why I thought some ppl crack shipped him with Subaru (same age, both bi or gay and have polar opposite personalities). Tbh I don't know how to even imagine Nokoru's personality when he's older. Surely he's more serious about stuff but there has to be leftovers of drama queen present? He has to go gay and cray from moment to moment right?

So I think he might get along with Kamui, boy certainly could use some cheerfulness. If there's a fic I'd read it gladly but I don't think it'll be a crack ship that makes me lose my mind. Maybe 6.5-7/10? Aesthetically tho they'd look ❤

Can I just say, the whole argument on twitter of whether 'blackwashing' is wrong or not is so wild to me cause like

I grew up in the Aphmau fandom (unfortunately /j) and every mf there race swapped SOMEONE bc there were only like,, 3 black characters in mystreet or mcd or whatever. Like widely accepted fanon interpretations of characters included race swaps (and not just for black people, there were characters headcanoned as Asian, hispanic, mixed, etc. bc there were literally like 100 characters and maybe 5 were poc)

Like, I grew up believing race hcs were normal and fun (and I still believe that) and that type of shit honestly helped get rid of some of the self loathing racism I had subconsciously.

Then in like,, 2020/21 I heard ppl on tiktok were having issue with it, which I thought was ridiculous, and now this issue is back again on twitter (tho idk if it ever left, I was never super active on twitter)

Idk, I just dont understand how some ppl have so much hate that this is an issue

And yes I'm talking about that one dandadan black edit or whatever u wanna call it, it was literally so good. But now ppl are sending death threats to a literal 16 y/o bc.... Checks notes... They drew two characters black?? (They didnt even draw Momo as black, they made her hispanic)

And ik ppl are saying the issue is they're erasing Japanese culture but anime already whitewashes every Japanese character?? Like yes, they're technically Japanese, but growing up, I thought all anime characters were white bc they rlly dont have any Japanese features?? Not even a lil melanin, cause majority of east asians aren't paper white

Like, the issue surpasses race, it's also a matter of colourism bc I PROMISE U NOW if someone were to draw an anime character just SLIGHTLY brown, but they weren't another race, they were still Japanese, ppl would say 'UR BLACKWASHING!!!' and then hurl slurs at you.

For starters, blasians exist. Literally any raced swapped anime character could just be mixed. And 2, even if they weren't mixed, if a black person was born and raised in Japan, they're still Japanese, even if they have no Japanese blood. If they moved to Japan and lived there a long time and understand the language and culture and have fully integrated themselves into it, then they're Japanese too. Like?? What is so hard to understand??

By making Okarun or Momo or literally any Japanese anime character black, their Japanese culture hasn't been erased if they're still attending Japanese school, wearing Japanese uniform, following Japanese customs, etc. etc.

here we fucking go…*sighs* i am well aware that this is a very popular theory, yes. be that as it may, i will only believe that theory when the books or george tell us so himself, so unless you are him (and in that case hey george—how nice of you to swing by, shouldn’t you be writing?) which i HIGHLY doubt, i will keep writing penny completely and utterly unrelated to tyrion.

i need to point out that unless george writes it so i will not be taking that as true and won't roleplay her as his daughter. not only is the theory very flawed, both location and age wise, but it also irks me that some people think that just because they both have dwarfism, they must be related. that kind of thought is problematic and frankly quite stupid, as well as very reductive. it's like assuming that every black person in the story is related just because they're black—when it's not the case, that's racist to think.

dwarfism is just one aspect of who they are, and it doesn't automatically make them family, so i urge people to be less ableist in their hcs and theories. while i am well aware she is practically just a plot device, but, as i write her, i think penny deserves to be her own person, with her own story, not just an extension of tyrion's narrative.

and yeah, i get that the whole accidental oedipal tragedy idea surrounding tyrion and penny could be interesting in a twisted way, and i know george would be crazy enough to do that just to fuck tyrion over even more, but honestly? it feels like a lazy plot twist. grrm has given us such rich, complex characters, and reducing penny to just tyrion's secret daughter would strip away what little agency she has, turning her into just another piece in tyrion’s tragic puzzle. its a cheap trick, more than anything else.

penny has a small role in canon yes, but her significance in the story (or lack thereof) shouldn’t hinge on a cheap reveal that undercuts her individuality. let her be her own person, not just a plot device to push tyrion further into despair and madness. she deserves better than that.
