Day 2 (Traveling to Middle Earth | The Helcaraxë | Bonds Broken, Bonds Made) for @glorfindelweek !!

This is so so headcanon heavy but tl;dr I like to headcanon a) Idril as the equivalent of 10-12ish at the start of the Helcaraxë and Glorfindel being only a little older than her, b) Glorfindel as Idril's first cousin, on her mother's side, and c) them being more or less friendly before the Helcaraxë but growing very very close during the march!

They're just two kids watching out for each other when the adults are busy with important adult things

back on the topic of eddie brock never being the first choice. crazy to me to think about the origin of the venom symbol which is that the symbiote Was With Spiderman First. the venom symbol is a slightly creepier version of the spiderman symbol with an extra bend in the legs cause it's the symbiote's best approximation of what it thought spiderman wanted. and when spiderman rejects the symbiote and venom shows up it's still the same suit just on a different person. the symbiote learned emotions from peter parker and it is angry and hurt at not being wanted but it stays in the form it thought he wanted... peter parker disarms eddie brock once by telling the symbiote that he wants it back and attacking once the symbiote starts to leave... eddie has such a hard time throughout the comics with the fact that the symbiote Will Leave Him if prompted by the right person. and be so honest. what would you do if you were eddie brock and no matter where you went or what you did there was a symbol that you were somebody else's second choice emblazoned across your chest

MOTHER SERIES TUMBLR EVENT?! ASK-A-PALOOZA INTEREST CHECK

Hello mother series enjoyers!!! Or, more specifically…. hello askblog enjoyers!!!! this event is for you!!

So, here's some background from me: I've wanted to make an askblog for a little while, but the idea of dedicating myself to a single concept/au/whatever is a little daunting (plus I would worry about how long I could keep it going for, etc etc)

Then, after seeing [this post] (hi zhari hi nana!!), my eyes were opened to the idea of temporary askblogs. And I thought wow, that sounds fun and much less daunting :D

SO THEN I thought: why not make a whole event about it? Where a bunch of people turn their blogs into mother series askblogs for a little while!! (You wouldn't have to actually change your whole blog theme of course, just have your askbox open and give some indication to askers that you're participating!!) You could also interact/rp with other askblogs/people participating and it'd be a grand ol' time overall!!

Would anyone be interested in an event like this?

If the results of this poll look promising, I'll make another poll for what week(s?) it should be!! Also, if you have any questions before you vote, don't be afraid to ask in the comments or dms!! I want everyone to feel welcome to participate :]

i feel like this goes without saying but just for the record my annual eurovision posting is obviously not happening tomorrow. i was originally going to pirate it and just not post about it at all, but after all the bullshit svt and the ebu have been pulling i don't even want to watch it illegally. fuck all of that bullshit. i will be following the news cause i am very curious to see what's gonna happen, especially because i think israel is very likely to win, which makes sense since unfortunately you can't vote against anyone and MOST anti-israel people are boycotting and so it stands to reason that all the pro-israel assholes will vote as much as they can to make a point about how pro genocide they are.

if you are watching still (illegally i hope! don't give them streams! and don't vote!) you can still send me asks about it but i probably won't post them unless it's specifically anti israel/pro palestine

i delusionally do hope one day we'll be able to watch eurovision again, but as long as israel (and a couple of other countries if we're being real) are in it it's not fucking worth it. and even if they do ban israel, if they don't replace the entire board currently at the ebu, or at least whoever is pushing this bullshit if somehow it's not all of them, i'm out lol. and that sucks so fucking bad because eurovision has been one of my main sources of joy since i was like six years old. but it's not fucking worth it.

luca: Yes, especially since we are relying on a few important trade deals this time around. No pretending to be a footman and hiding carriages. No avoiding interactions by saying that you feel faint. And no more than two glasses of mead.

m: I believe that is everything…. oh! We decided that the reception will be a masquerade ball, so you will need to acquire a mask within the week.

dara: …A masquerade?

l: We have not hosted a ball like that since your mother and I first met, you know.

d: Precisely, Papa. They are entirely outdated.

killian: I think it is a grand idea. Anonymity. For once, no one will be trying to kiss my feet. Thank the maker.

m: Only for a short while. We will need to welcome the guests as a family, of course. You will have an hour to mingle before then.

It surprises me that people are still saying "my opinion is that the pale king loved his children and regretted what he did" because surely that's the entire point! THAT'S the idea instilled! The final secret of the king is hidden after the path of pain, the most difficult to access place in the palace, because it is the single most important and most shameful to him! And that secret final memory is epitomised with a glance between the father and child; it's the love of one's offspring, it's expectation, it's the desire to do what the father wishes - it's a connection! And it is this, in the eyes of the king, that tarnished the vessel, and sealed hallownest's fate. It is considered a memory of such deep, harrowing shame because it was the king's own connection with his child that ensured it was not a pure vessel, and thus would always fail to contain the radiance, and thus it is entirely on the king's head that hallownest fell to ruin.

I also sometimes see 'so why did the pale king die' when I think thematically, it does not matter what specifically caused the death of the king, simply that having failed so utterly, he sealed himself away and wasted away purposefully alone in this throne room, having committed such atrocity on his offspring and still having failed to save the kingdom he created; that's sort of the point of the tragedy of the idea instilled. everything fell apart not despite his best attempts, but because of them... the death of the pale king is without doubt meant to thematically be a suicide after a tragedy of his own design
