Are you kidding me? This is like a little town with not one, but 2, castles in Vinninge, Sweden. Look at all the buildings! If you love horses, it's called "a trotting facility," and it's listed for 40,000,000 SEK / $3.6M. It's all for horses- has 40 stalls, 2 tracks, and comes with walking machines, so you don't even have to exercise them yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a SERIOUS banquet hall.
Tumblr media
Not that old, especially as homes go, b/c it was built in 1995.
Tumblr media
Banquet hall anteroom.
Tumblr media
Your trophy room to display your horses' triumphs. So cool.
Tumblr media
Looks like a fairly new kitchen in here.
Tumblr media
But, it's not just about horses- this building is a cat hotel! Plus, it looks like those runs could also be for dogs.
Tumblr media
Living room inside the main residence has an unusual fireplace wall with a cone-shaped fireplace.
Tumblr media
Nice everyday blue dining room.
Tumblr media
After lunch, get right into the hot tub.
Tumblr media
Look at that, a coke machine in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Isn't this a beautiful dining room?
Tumblr media
Indoor pool.
Tumblr media
This is a guest house.
Tumblr media
Look at the beautiful gazebo.
Tumblr media
Must be the cat hotel.
Tumblr media
The horse stalls.
Tumblr media
That must be a horse-walking round thing. Plus, there are mature fruit trees on the property.
Tumblr media
You can see the fruit trees in this photo.
Tumblr media
Is that a pool for the horses?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amazing property.
Tumblr media
And, this orange group of buildings is just the residence.

World Farm Animals Day
Created in memory of Gandhi, who advocated respecting all animals, National Farm Animal Day is about the crucial and often mistreated farm creatures.
Farm animals are delightfully cute, especially baby farm animals with their squeaks and squeals, running and playing. Even more than that, farm animals also play an important role in modern society. Take some time to appreciate them this World Farm Animals Day!
History of National World Farm Animals Day
Established in memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in treating all living beings with respect, World Farm Animals Day was founded to highlight the poor conditions suffered by some farm animals, and promote awareness in the hope something may be done to improve the lives of these innocent creatures. The first World Farm Animals Day was celebrated in 1983 as part of an international movement for the rights of farm animals.
Sometimes also called the World Day for Farmed Animals (WDFA), this day aims to raise awareness for and commemorate the 65 billion land animals who are raised for food every year. Since most people believe that animals should not be harmed unnecessarily, this day seeks to bring together those who are passionate about farm animal welfare and working to make changes!
How to Celebrate World Farm Animals Day
Show some love and attention to these often overlooked creatures by celebrating World Farm Animals Day. Get involved with the day in a variety of creative ways, including some of these ideas:
Celebrate World Farm Animals Day with Children
Although World Farm Animals Day has an important, and somewhat sad, origin in the sense that it was created to raise awareness of suffering, it can be celebrated in different ways, particularly with children.
Taking children for a visit to a farm is a great way to teach them about farm animals, and it may also be a good chance to instill in them the message of treating animals with respect. Teachers might want to take an opportunity on World Farm Animals Day to create lessons around the different farm animals, how they contribute and why they are important in the world today. From preschoolers to older children, this day offers a perfect opportunity to grow a generation of responsible humans who treat all creatures well!
Change Some Eating Habits
World Farm Animals Day is actually a great day for a person to make a commitment to try to incorporate fewer animal products in their diet. Perhaps it’s not realistic to immediately become a vegan and cut out all animal products. However, it might be a good time to commit to taking one day a week for the family to prepare meals without meat. Or perhaps this is a good time to make the switch from dairy milk (which many humans really don’t process well anyway!) to drinking plant-based milk such as oat, soy, almond or another alternative.
In addition, taking care about where animal products are sourced from can make a huge difference. For instance, commit to purchasing cage-free eggs, farm raised chickens or responsibly sourced seafood.
Support an Animal Charity
Another great way to celebrate is by donating to an animal protection charity that works to promote the welfare of animals, including those on farms. Take a look at some of these non-profit organizations that are dedicated to animals, and perhaps look into making a financial gift or even volunteering throughout the year:
Farm Sanctuary. This charity offers many ways for folks to get involved, including becoming members of the Friends of Hilda Club, named after the first rescue animal to benefit from Farm Sanctuary.
Faunalytics. Don’t let saying the name be intimidating, because this organization works to collect and share data, research and knowledge that is vital in understanding how to better care for farm animals and limit industrial animal farming.
Human Farming Association. This campaign against factory farming aims to stand up to big business, speaking on behalf of the animals who cannot speak for themselves.

If the netherlands has friesians, America has mustangs, and Saudi Arabia has arabians, what breeds come from sweden?
There are a few to pick from so I'll just list them here and I've included some of my own photos of each breed so you can get a better idea of their characteristics. There are no "historical" pictures included, so this is a bit of a departure from what I normally do so I hope people don't mind.
Svensk Varmblod (SWB)
Sweden has the Swedish warmblood which has been very successful in showjumping, dressage, eventing, and even driving. As of 2018 it is the most common horse breed in Sweden followed by Icelandic horses and then warmblooded trotters (two non-native breeds). In 2018, of the top two highest ranking show jumping horse and rider duos, both horses were Swedish Warmbloods (Hanson WL and Albfuehren’s Bianca). The examples below are of two Swedish Warmbloods in more commonplace use as all round riding horses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nordsvensk Brukshäst and Kallblodstravare
The North Swedish Horse (Nordsvensk) is a native breed of heavy horse. It is still popular for riding, driving and farm work. Lighter lines within the breed are bred for harness racing and are registered in the stud-book of Svensk Kallblodstravare, that is to say Swedish Coldblood Trotter. This split happened in 1964, creating a heavier working-type and a lighter trotting horse. The Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish cold blood trotters are the only ones that exist in the world. One of the most famous Swedish Coldblood Trotters is probably Järvsöfaks. He holds the current world record for Coldbloods in wins, consecutive wins (42), and the coldblood trotter world record time, 1:17.9 per kilometer. The photos bellow are of the heavier type (Nordsvensk Brukshäst).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Svensk Ardenner
The Swedish Ardennes is it's own breed and the result of crossing the imported Ardennes horses to the Nordsvensk. The breed was developed in the late 19th century in response to demands within agriculture. They are a medium-sized draught horse breed that are still used in areas inaccessible to machinery to haul timber.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotlands Russ
The Gotlands Russ is an old breed of Swedish pony. Feral horses on Gotland have been documented since the 13th century, but in the mid 19th century settlers caused their numbers to decline and despite a breeding centre being founded in 1880 there was only 14 left in 1922. In the process of rehabilitating the breed two Welsh stallions were used. The stud-book has been closed to outside blood since 1971. They are good all round ponies that are often used for harness racing.

Content Warning for "UrbanSPOOK" Analog Horror Series
So, in recent months, a new analog horror/ARG series called UrbanSPOOK has joined Youtube, and it's even been covered by a number of indie horror exploration channels (i.e. Goose Boose, Gearisko, etc.), which I know is going to pull a lot of new viewers towards the channel. However, a number of things in the series really need to be addressed, since they're not exactly warned about in the series. This post is not a callout nor any call to harass the creator, Urbanslug; I just wanted to step in and raise a flag.
UrbanSPOOK's premise is that several VHS tapes have been found, of unknown origin, cataloguing the crimes of an unknown serial killer who leaves behind surrealist paintings of their crimes. Little clues as to what happened to their victims are dropped in the evidence, paintings, and witness testimonials, and these can be very disturbing, far more so than other indie series. A disclaimer does play at the beginning of each "tape" warning about general violence and disturbing content. However, I feel people should be aware of sexual violence when going into media of any kind. Moreover, the series's creator sells merch of all of the killer's paintings, including the ones heavily implied to be of abused children.
(Content warning for the rest of this post: references to animal abuse, child abuse, CSA, descriptions of highly violent acts. Don't say I didn't warn you; these descriptions are written only as detailed as they need to be in order to convey why new viewers should approach with caution, and why it's a little Uhhhhh how merch is being sold of these (fictional) crimes.)
At least two of the unnamed killer's victims are children. Most significantly, one painting unveiled in the first episode, "FACES", is called "Fucktoy Cory", depicting a bloated body's face. The third episode, "IN THE WALLS", reveals Cory is the name of an 11 year old, one of two twins who were both murdered, split in half, and then sewn one to the other. The creator has confirmed the painting is of the murdered boy named Cory.
In the most recent episode, "PIGS", a child's severed, eyeless head is found in an abandoned building the killer had been living in. Her painting is called "Four Holes Fiona". There has been a lot of speculation in the video's comments as to what the implications are about this title, most of them concluding that the killer was using the head for something foul.
In the same episode, Fiona's grandmother Mae is found heavily ravaged and dead from internal bleeding, along with a horse that died from heart failure after being overfed sildenafil citrate - the pharmaceutical name for Viagra. Mae's painting is called "Breeding Mount Mae". A breeding mount is a piece of farm equipment meant for stallions to mate with, so their semen can be collected for equine breeding.
The creator of the series promises that things will only get "worse" as it goes along, which is worrying, especially when the only disclaimers given are for "violent and disturbing content" and this content goes from "skinned alive" to "fucked to death by a horse" at the drop of a hat. The paintings for all of the above, along with the rest of the paintings, are sold at their official Creator-Spring shop, on t-shirts. I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to wear something knowing its original context is someone getting killed with the ole "Mr. Hands" maneuvre, but take this as a record that these images, with the same titles given in-series, were available at one point as on-demand printed merchandise.
Finally, a friend brought up to me that "spook" is a racial epithet against Black people in America. However, Urbanslug is from Sweden and likely did not know of the word's connotations other than meaning "spooky", or "scary". I will clear them on that accusation.
Again, do not go and harass the creator of this series. This post is just intended as a sort of warning label. Analog horror is more popular than ever, and with the Writer's Guild strike coming up, I anticipate a lot of people will begin looking for indie series to consume while mainstream television is put on hold. I walked into this series blind, and had no idea how grim it was going to get so soon.
You can call me a wimp, or "triggered", or whatever the hell you'd like for making a post about this, but extreme media and figuring out how far is too far is one of my big focuses in my journalism and archiving. I just finished an article about Agony in Pink that concluded with me saying it had the right to exist; with this in mind, UrbanSPOOK was so extreme and so under-warned that even I had to say something.

what was your favourite cartoon/show growing up?
i love this question! i was a kika child growing up (the germans will know what i mean) and my favourite shows were probably the following three.
simsalagrimm: covers popular fairy tales by the brothers grimm, hans christian andersen, wilhelm hauff and joseph jacobs by slightly altering them and having the two main characters narrate them. their names are yoyo and dr croc and they enter the stories via a talking, flying storybook to assist the respective heroes. banger soundtrack that was CRIMINALLY changed a few years ago.
yakari: based on comics, follows a little boy from the sioux tribe (named yakari) who one day realizes that he can talk to animals. most famously his horse (little thunder) and his totem animal and protector (big eagle). each episode follows yakari and his animal and human friends on a new adventure (in which the north american animal world obviously plays a major role).
pettersson and findus (in the original, the names are pettson and findus, i think): based on children's books, follows an old man (pettersson) and his cat (findus) who live on a tiny little farm in rural sweden. the schtick of the story is that they always end up having something to do before they can get to what they were initially up to in the beginning of the episode. something always goes wrong, they have to find solutions etc. when i was little, i wanted nothing more than to live with them.
some honourable mentions: löwenzahn (the one with fritz fuchs), zoe's zauberschrank (zoe's magical closet), wickie und die starken männer and so many more that i'm forgetting right now.
i'm so sorry for how long this got, i love to yap about kid's tv shows, apparently.

Introducing Signe Hawklord
Tumblr media
Basics:
Full Name: Signe Liv Hawklord
Spoken Name: Signe
Name Meaning: Signe, old norse meaning new victory. Liv old norse name meaning life
Age: 23
Pronouns: She/Her
Gender: Woman
Nationality: Swedish, mother from England, currently lives in Jorvik
Starsign: Gemini
Background:
Born in Sweden as the third child in the rocky marriage of famous swedish rockstar Erik Strömson and british entreprenour Bridget Hawklord. Signe grew up in Stockholm city getting anything her child mind could think of wanting. But not from her parents, her father spent more time on tour and in the arms of whichever current girlfriend he was cheating on her mother with. Bridget on the other hand spent nearly every waking moment away from home, her very successful tech company taking up most of her time. This meant that Signe grew up worshipping her two older brothers, Thomas and Robert, whey where the only two people in the world, that she felt cared about her. But her childhood was not all gray and gloom, summer and winter breaks would be spent in at her maternal grandparents grand house on the english countryside. Here she learned how to ride and care for horses on her grandfathers thoroughbred stud farm. The moment Signe finished the Swedish gymnasium she broke out and moved to New york, to get as far away from her now very strained relationship with her parents as possible. There, she was supposed to study physics and astrology, which she did, but she also spent every weekend drunk out of her mind in a club bathroom.
Eventually, Signes childhood rebel was satiated. She went on to graduate university with a liver more damaged than when she arrived and more than a few life lessons learned. Her passion for horses, which had been nearly forgotten in her years in the New york youths high society, rekindeled when she returned to work at her grandparents farm for a year, until she one day received a job offer, from the AAE. The astronomical and archaeological society offered her a spot as one of their scientists studying the sudden increase of curious astronomical events currently happening over the small island of Jorvik. Suprised by the offer, she accepted and four months later she was unpacking boxes in her appartement by Aideens plaza.
Ariving on Jorvik, Signe easily setteled into the islands rythm. Work was brilliant and the celestial events, unlike anything she ever seen before and facinating to study. Soon she found a horse unlike any other she’d ever met before. The stallion Cass, a great bronze-coloured andalusian, called to her soul from Jorvik stables. Unbeknownst to her, four other horses called out to their soulriders at the same time. About a year after her relocation to Jorvik, when the stars had calmed down, she one night woke up, with strange symbols blazing out white light on her back and and a tiny blue squirrel perching on her windowsill.
If you made it this far, thank you! This is the backstory of my oc Signe Hawklord and turned out to be way longer than i expected haha. She has in some way or other been marinating in my brain since i started playing the game about 10(!) years ago and now here she is! I might make a shorter bulletpoint post later, but for now i’m happy to introduce her like this!

RedLine Fever - International 1486 - NTPA Tractor Pull
Truck and tractor pulling, also known as power pulling, is a form of a motorsport competition in which antique or modified tractors pull a heavy drag or sled along an 11-meter-wide (35 ft), 100-meter-long (330 ft) track, with the winner being the tractor that pulls the drag the farthest. Tractor pulling is popular in certain areas of the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe (especially in the United Kingdom, Greece, Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Denmark and Germany), Australia, Brazil, South Africa, Vietnam, India and New Zealand. The sport is known as the world's most powerful motorsport, due to the multi-engined modified tractor pullers.
All tractors in their respective classes pull a set weight in the drag. When a tractor gets to the end of the 100 meter track, this is known as a "full pull". When more than one tractor completes the course, more weight is added to the drag, and those competitors that moved past 91 metres (300 ft) will compete in a pull-off; the winner is the one who can pull the drag the farthest. The drag is known as a weight transfer drag. This means that, as it is pulled down the track, the weight is transferred (linked with gears to the drag’s wheels) from over the rear axles and towards the front of the drag. In front of the rear wheels, instead of front wheels, there is a "pan". This is essentially a metal plate, and as the weight moves toward it, the resistance between the pan and the ground builds. The farther the tractor pulls the drag, the more difficult it gets.
Tractor pulling originated from pre-Industrial Era horse pulling competitions in which farmers would compete with one another to see whose teams of draft horses could pull a heavy load over the longest distance. The first known competitions using motorized tractors were held in 1929 in Missouri and Kentucky. Tractor pulling became popular in rural areas across the Midwestern and Southern United States in the 1950s and 1960s. From there it gradually spread to Canada, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand.

National Farmers Day
Without farmers, we’d all starve. Visit a farmer’s market, take a trip to a farm, or reenact how farmers used to live and grow with old-fashioned tools.
Some might say that modern society was built upon the rugged shoulders and stubborn personalities of farmers from around the world. Because without those who dedicate their lives to growing food, where would everyone else be?
So, it only makes sense that a time should be set aside to celebrate their contributions and all that they have provided (and indeed continue to provide) to the world. National Farmers Day intends to do just this!
History of National Farmers Day
Due to the fact that farmers have been honored for centuries, the roots of this day are likely to go back very far and with a wide variety of traditions! Many different countries have set aside dates for celebrating National Farmers Day at different times of the year. For instance, in India and Pakistan a day for farmers is celebrated in December, while South Korea celebrates in November and Zambia in October.
In the United States, some people have celebrated a time in late October as “Old Farmer’s Day”, with a festival located in Loranger, Louisiana that reenacts the farmers’ way of life from before technology changed it so much. Other communities may host their own events and activities that offer a nod to the important work that farmers do to put food on the table of families everywhere.
National Farmers Day offers a delightful time in the harvest season of the autumn to show some appreciation and love for those folks who toil and work to provide food for those in the communities around them. Whether celebrating small micro farmers who grow or local organic dairy farmers, this is an ideal opportunity to make a big deal out of something so important as farmers!
How to Celebrate National Farmers Day
Celebrating National Farmers Day can take on a few different forms but may partially depend on where a person lives. Have some fun making plans and celebrating these salt of the earth folks with some of these ideas:
Thank a Farmer
One of the best ways to celebrate National Farmers Day would be to begin by thanking a farmer! For those who live in a rural community, this might just mean visiting a friend who is a farmer and wishing them a happy National Farmers Day! Or, head on over to a local farmers market in the area and let the growers there know how much their hard work and effort is appreciated on this important day.
Visit a Working Farm
Those who live in or near the country might want to observe National Farmers Day by participating in activities that reenact the ancient methods of farming before the invention of electricity and modern equipment. Throughout the US, many different communities can be found that allow visitors to get a glance into the past, including places like:
Conner Prairie Farm in Fishers, Indiana
Living History Farm in Urbandale, Iowa
Oliver Kelley Farm in Elk River, Minnesota
Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum in West Friendship, Maryland
Join in on Farming Events and Activities
Many times, a state fair is a place where farmers will join together to show off their produce or animals. There may even be some local festivals to attend that are centered around local produce like a pumpkin festival, a corn festival or an apple festival. These types of gatherings are often places where a variety of types of local farmers can be found.
City dwellers can choose to celebrate National Farmers Day by taking a trip to a rural area and visiting a local farmers’ market. There is no doubt that the fruits and vegetables encountered alone should make up for the drive!
Learn Interesting Facts About Farming
National Farmers Day is a perfect time to brush up on some facts and statistics related to the appreciation of farming. Check out some of these:
Around 97% of farms in the US are family owned and operated.
In 2019, more than 22 million US jobs were related to agriculture and food.
Only 2% of the American population are the farmers who feed everyone else!
