#honestly I was expecting a totally different more serious show

Alright. So the new medical drama “Brilliant Minds” staring Zachary Quinto as a neurologist called Dr. Oliver Wolf (I believe based loosely on and the work of Dr. Oliver Sacks, tangent go look him up when you have a minute you won’t regret it.) has been out for a while now. Tbh it’s both House-esque, and suffering from a serious case of season one and frankly odd choices. I personally love that, everyone -it the large opening cast- has a suitcase of backstory, the pacing is somehow breakneck and slow. Just haunting the whole thing are Wolfs dead daddy issues, and inability to let people in resulting in impulse control problems, and abrasives -he’s really nice to his patients, and anyone standing in the way of their care he’s not at all. He kidnaps an old man with dementia from his nursing home in episode one so the man can play the piano at his granddaughters wedding. Gleefully, on a motorcycle! Also he’s faceblind, gay, and well, refusing to deal with any of his mental problems.

Is it it good? At times it’s excellent and the most recent episode alone pulls it well above most tv I’ve seen lately. There are certainly, oddities, as I said a very serious case of season one and this season should have more episodes. Idk how many episodes it’s gonna have but I know it’s not enough. I think it deserves a second season. I really want to see where it goes. I really want to see how far they can get with it. Plz watch it!

The entertainment industry was a whirlwind of schedules, lights, and endless interactions. Yet, despite working in the same field for years, you and Haechan had never truly crossed paths beyond a passing greeting. That was, until fate or rather, a production team decided to throw you into the same reality show.

A new variety program had gathered multiple idols from different groups and agencies, pairing them up in teams for various challenges. When your name was announced alongside Haechan's, you barely had time to process it before the cameras were rolling.

You sat beside him in the van, staring out the window, unsure how to start a conversation. Haechan, on the other hand, seemed entirely at ease, scrolling through his phone.

“You’re quieter than I expected,” he commented suddenly, making you turn toward him.

“I don’t usually talk unless there’s something to say,” you replied honestly.

“Ahh, so mysterious,” he teased, wiggling his eyebrows. “I thought you’d be more talkative.”

“I thought you’d be less talkative,” you shot back, and he gasped dramatically.

“Wow, I see how it is.” He placed a hand over his heart. “I was planning to be extra nice to you, but now you’ve ruined it.”

You rolled your eyes but couldn't stop the small smile that tugged at your lips. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

The producers sent you both to an outdoor survival challenge. The task? Build a shelter and cook a meal using limited resources. The sun was setting, and you were both failing miserably.

“I swear, this isn’t working,” you groaned, dropping the half-built tent pole.

“You’re just not believing in it enough,” Haechan joked, trying to tie two sticks together with a shoelace.

You gave him an unimpressed look. “Yeah, because belief is totally what’s going to keep this thing from collapsing.”

He grinned. “Exactly! It’s all about manifestation.”

Despite the frustration, you couldn’t help laughing. There was something about him his energy, his unwavering playfulness that made the exhaustion feel a little less unbearable.

At some point, as you both sat by the fire, eating poorly roasted potatoes, he looked over at you, his face illuminated by the glow.

“You’re actually pretty fun,” he admitted, his voice softer than usual.

“You sound surprised,” you said, raising a brow.

“I am,” he confessed with a small chuckle. “I thought you were cold. But you’re just... guarded.”

The comment hit a little too close to home. You looked away, focusing on the flames. “Maybe.”

Haechan nudged your knee with his. “Well, you don’t have to be with me.”

And just like that, something shifted.

As the show aired in real-time, fans picked up on the growing chemistry between you and Haechan. The way he teased you, the way you rolled your eyes but always ended up laughing it didn’t go unnoticed.

Even the staff whispered about it.

“You two have amazing chemistry,” the PD commented one afternoon. “You should work together more often.”

Haechan smirked, shooting you a knowing look. “You hear that? We’re a dynamic duo.”

“Don’t let it get to your head,” you replied, but your cheeks felt warmer than usual.

The show was wrapping up, and soon, you’d go back to your separate careers. The thought made your chest tighten in a way you didn’t expect.

After the final shoot, Haechan found you outside, staring at the city skyline.

“Hey,” he called, stepping beside you. “We survived.”

“Barely.”

He chuckled before turning serious. “I don’t really want this to be the last time we talk.”

You met his gaze. “It doesn’t have to be.”

He hesitated, then smirked. “So, does that mean you’ll go on a date with me?”

You laughed. “Are you always this forward?”

“With you? Yeah.” He scratched the back of his neck. “I like you. A lot. And I don’t think it’s just because of the show.”

You took a deep breath, your heart pounding. “Me neither.”

His grin widened, and without thinking, he reached out, lacing his fingers with yours. “Then let’s see where this goes.”

And just like that, what started as an unexpected pairing turned into something real.

After the final episode aired, the response was overwhelming. Your names trended on social media, and clips of your interactions flooded fan edits.

"I swear if they're not dating, I’m suing the producers for emotional damage."

You scrolled through the comments, biting your lip. Truthfully, you missed the easy back-and-forth with Haechan. The past ten days had changed something—filming was exhausting, but he had made it fun. Now that it was over, you weren’t sure how to go back to… whatever you were before.

A message popped up on your phone.

Haechan [8:42 PM]: Saw a clip of us. Damn, we look good together.

Haechan [8:42 PM]: Wanna give the fans what they want?

You rolled your eyes.

First Date Or Was It?

A few days later, Haechan invited you out. Not a date, he insisted, just two coworkers hanging out.

But the way he showed up at your doorstep with a smug grin and an iced coffee in hand told a different story.

“Gotta keep my girl energized,” he said, handing it over.

You narrowed your eyes. “I’m not your girl.”

“Yet,” he corrected, then held out his arm dramatically. “Shall we?”

You sighed but couldn’t fight your smile.

The night was… easy. No cameras, no scripted interactions, just you and him. He took you to a cozy, hidden restaurant where no one would recognize you. Over dinner, he kept stealing bites of your food despite having the exact same dish, and when you called him out, he grinned.

“Yours tastes better,” he reasoned.

“That makes no sense.”

“Neither does liking you this much after ten days, but here we are.”

You froze, chopsticks halfway to your mouth. He said it so casually, yet your heart went into overdrive.

“Why do you say things like that?” you muttered.

“Because they’re true.” He leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. “Do you want me to stop?”

You hesitated, then shook your head. “No.”

His smirk softened into something more sincere. “Good.”

The Industry Complication

Dating in the industry was never easy. The second time you met after filming, a paparazzi shot of you together surfaced online.

"NCT’s Haechan and [Y/N] spotted late at night dating rumors?"

You saw the article just as your phone rang.

Haechan.

“Don’t panic,” was the first thing he said.

“I’m not,” you lied.

He chuckled. “You are.”

You sighed, rubbing your temple. “What do we do?”

“What do you want to do?” His voice was calm, reassuring. “We could deny it, say we’re just friends. Or…”

“Or?”

“Or we don’t say anything and let them believe whatever they want.”

You chewed on your lip. The easy route was denial. But something in you didn’t want to. You liked spending time with him. Liked the way he made your world brighter.

“…I don’t want to lie,” you admitted quietly.

There was a pause. Then, his voice came through, warm and teasing.

“Guess that makes you my girlfriend then.”

You rolled your eyes. “I didn’t say that.”

“You kinda did.” You could hear the smirk in his voice. “But don’t worry, you’ve got time to officially confess.”

“I’m hanging up.”

“Wait... ”

You stared at your screen, heart pounding. Maybe the sparks between you weren’t just for the cameras after all.

Dating in secret was fun stolen moments, late-night calls, the thrill of almost getting caught. But the industry was relentless, and rumors never truly died.

One evening, after an exhausting rehearsal, you got a call from your manager.

"We need to talk," they said, voice tight. "Now."

You arrived at the company’s office, only to find Haechan already there, sitting across from his own management team. He looked up at you, his usual playfulness absent.

Your stomach twisted.

The higher ups wasted no time. "We know you’re dating," one of the executives said bluntly. "Dispatch has photos. It’s only a matter of time before they release them."

You inhaled sharply. This was your worst-case scenario—losing control of the narrative.

Haechan leaned forward. "So what now? Do we deny it?"

"No," his manager said, exchanging glances with yours. "If we do, it’ll only make things worse when more evidence surfaces. The best option is for you both to confirm it on your own terms."

Silence.

You clenched your fists. "So we have no choice."

"It’s better than being exposed without warning," your manager reasoned.

Haechan exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. He turned to you. "What do you want to do?"

You looked at him. This wasn’t fair. But you knew how the industry worked. If you had to confirm it, at least it would be on your terms.

“…Fine," you said quietly.

Going Public

A joint statement was drafted. Both companies posted it at the same time.

"Haechan and [Y/N] have recently developed feelings for each other and are currently getting to know one another with good intentions. We hope fans will support them."

Within minutes, the internet exploded.

"[Y/N] AND HAECHAN ARE DATING???"

"My heart is broken, but I will support them."

"THEY WERE FLIRTING ON THAT SHOW, I KNEW IT!!!"

"I'm so happy for them! But I hope the companies don’t interfere."

Your hands trembled as you scrolled through the comments.

Then, your phone rang.

Haechan.

"Hey," he said, voice softer than usual.

"You okay?"

You exhaled shakily. "I don’t know. It feels… weird."

"Yeah," he admitted. "But you know what?"

"What?"

He chuckled. "At least now I can flirt with you in public without getting side-eyed by our managers."

You laughed despite yourself. "You’re impossible."

"Yeah, but I’m your impossible."

And somehow, despite the chaos, you knew you'd be okay.

Going public changed everything.

Fans dissected every interaction, analyzing past moments for “clues” about your relationship. Some were supportive, some weren’t. Hate comments filled your notifications, alongside heartfelt messages from those who genuinely wished you happiness.

Your company sent out a strict set of rules:

No excessive public displays of affection.

Keep interactions “professional” in group settings.

No talking about the relationship unless approved.

In short, they wanted you together, but only on their terms.

One evening, after finishing promotions, you met up with Haechan at a quiet café, hidden from prying eyes. He was already there when you arrived, hood pulled low, a cap covering his hair.

The moment you sat down, he reached for your hand under the table, lacing his fingers with yours.

"Rough day?" he asked.

You sighed. "You could say that."

He tilted his head. "Hate comments?"

"Mostly." You looked down at your coffee. "It’s weird. I knew people would react, but seeing it… feels different."

His grip on your hand tightened. "They don’t know you. They only know what they think they know."

You gave him a small smile. "Easy for you to say. You thrive on attention."

He smirked. "Yeah, but I only care about your attention."

You rolled your eyes, but the warmth in your chest spread.

Then, his expression turned serious. "Are you happy?"

You blinked. "With you?"

"With… all of this. Us being public, the pressure. I know it’s a lot."

You hesitated. Was it hard? Yes. Was it overwhelming? Absolutely.

But was it worth it?

You glanced at his fingers still intertwined with yours. At the way he looked at you, completely unguarded.

"Yeah," you admitted softly. "I’m happy."

His smile was immediate, wide and bright. "Good. Because I’d hate to go through all this drama just to find out my girlfriend wants to dump me."

You snorted. "You're so dramatic."

"That’s why you like me."

"Debatable."

He gasped, clutching his chest. "See, this is why I’m dating you. I like the challenge."

You laughed, the weight on your shoulders feeling lighter.

Maybe being in the spotlight was hard. Maybe the scrutiny wouldn’t go away.

But as long as you had him, you knew you'd be okay.

thank you so much! i didn't expect there to be so much interest in my thoughtless doodles and rambles. luckily, i already have a draft for a rant i formulated about this version of peri's possible motivations, and now i have an excuse to share it!!

also, as a bonus, have this silly doodle :)

[his hairstyle is his attempt to separate himself from his parents, but no matter what he does with it, he can never get it to sit without that stray tuft and curl at the very end.

also, his bowtie is in reference to chloe and my initial art of irep before his design was revealed. the latter almost makes it seem like they "swapped roles."]

the thing is, it's hard to imagine peri as someone purposefully wanting to harm others for his own pleasure. for a "bad" au of peri to occur, he'd have to take after timmy, and seek chaos the same way he did

now, timmy is a good person at heart. his fairies love him, and he loved them in turn. that's undeniable. however, timmy was so stressful he affected cosmo and wandas marriage, and they had to retire right after him to rekindle their love and stop being so awful towards each other. timmy was simultaneously one of the best and worst things to ever happen to them

so it's not that much of a stretch to think he'd affected peri during his development, to the point he unknowingly influenced peri's core beliefs, which he'll carry over later in life

timmy used his fairies to escape from his regular life. he was incredibly reckless, and shirked responsibilities till the consequences got him back tenfold. a dangerous, but fulfilling way of living. he might've mellowed out in the later years, but considering he chose to keep vicky around to purposefully make himself miserable and keep his fairies instead of facing reality, maturity wouldn't be a straight or easy path

peri, adopting this way of thinking, believes the best way to live life is taking risks. ignoring your present problems in favor of escapism. he would insist this upon his godchild, and be blind to the complex nuance of dev's situation

dev's parental neglect differs from timmy's, and thus requires different treatment. but peri doesn't realize that, and dev is a child who cannot comprehend how awful he really has it, let alone communicate it in a way that isn't just lashing out and throwing tantrums

for classic peri, this is an annoyance. for this peri though? he'll enable it, because he thinks dev needs to get it out of his system. like timmy. which is in some way correct, but it's a flawed, only temporary solution

and it's in this way a path of deeper exploration opens up about characters similar to cookie, highlighting how flawed the godparent system can be when a child is assigned a godparent who cannot fulfill what they truly need

starting a ghost apocalypse is nothing compared to the wishes that has been granted before. and, honestly, dev taking viozalia's staff to use against her is a clever move. this peri wouldn't be downtrodden like he was in the original scene, but impressed. he would say as such, and dev, being the emotionally starved 10 year old he is, will soak those words up like a dry sponge

(slightly off topic: i like to think a little quirk this peri would have is, instead of looking to da book of rules for guidance, (cosmo, wanda, and his classic self do this multiple times in the show when in unique situations,) he'd be searching for anything that states what can't he do. "what to do when your god kid tries to start a ghost apocalypse... nothing? sweet!")

this would naturally allow him and dev to bond a little more. even if it's just shit talking other people and how they're totally better than everyone else

it doesn't mean they get along splendidly. dev is still pissed that he can't make the wishes he wants, and peri overcompensates by allowing him to throw himself into situations that just narrowly avoids sanction. because, oh yeah, peri would not appreciate being forced to follow the rules which includes wiping the godchild's memories after the godparent's term has passed

(if anything, he'll find a loophole out of it. he learned from the best, after all)

this is also where peri's spoiled nature would shine through. being offered everything just because he was a baby would make anyone entitled

he and dev are too similar for their own good. they have have access to anything they could ask for, but are unable to get love from one person they want it from. it's almost pitiful

to keep those thoughts out of dev's (and his own) mind, peri resorts to pushing dev out of his comfort zone, which would ordinarily be a good thing, only, he goes way too far to the point of regression

you know, it really doesn't help that dev looks a lot like timmy. i mean, look at them...

that's timmy with slicked back hair and a white jacket. c'mon

but even with all of this, peri doesn't really become a villain. he's antagonistic at most, with his strained relationship with his parents and his help in making things harder for hazel. luckily, the latest episode has given me a few ideas

when peri inevitably comes to care for dev, he'll obviously has to do something about his constant unhappiness. dev has a point in complaining about the fact hazel has two godparents and he only has one, even when his life is "worse" (another unhealthy way of thinking,)

hmmmm. so how can dev have two fairy godparents, and how can peri break da rules without putting himself at risk?

who other than a mirror of peri's own self?

a shift inevitably took place, one where peri became more intense and irep more soft. it's so subtle it goes unnoticed until thousands of years have passed

irep has become timid, soft, and well-meaning. if peri either quits his position or gives way for another slot and puts dev under a sort of split-custody, dev will be able to use anti-fairy magic, which can completely bypass any of the rules regular fairy magic is withholden to

irep will get what he wants as well. in this post, i answered an ask in which i speculate that irep genuinely does want a godchild, and the love and appreciation that comes with it. that much would stay the same for this au

and, well, unlike irep, peri has always been willing to share

this would make way for a bunch of whacky hijinks, potential plots, and new threats. consequences piling up until they become too huge to ignore. not to mention the full implications of a fairy and anti-fairy switching roles. of course, this is just a fun idea i came up with on the spot, and i haven't thought it out too much, so pointing out any plot holes that would come from this is appreciated!

i have more to say, mainly about peri and his parents' initial separation, as well as the parallels that can be found with this version of peri and hazel, but i feel it would be best to end it here :)

While waiting, Percy’s mind raced with possibilities. 

He pictured her stepping through the branches, as stunning as before, offering her name, and maybe even a kiss. 

Although, maybe the kiss was too much; a simple hand shake would suffice.

But then, doubts crept in—she might ghost him, turn out to be some monster trying to kill him, or show up with someone else.

The distant rustle of leaves drew his attention, one hand going to his pocket—for his new sword—and the other messing with his hair—to make sure it looked decent; you know, just in case.

Riptide remained untouched. A slender hand appeared, pushing them aside with ease to reveal what he had been waiting for. 

And she looked even more breathtaking than before. 

Her hair wasn’t all down anymore; half of it was tied up, a pink bow in it. Her cheeks were still adorned with the same soft pink flush, that shade that never seemed to fade. Her long lashes framed her eyes, and her lips—God, there was no doubt that some makeup had made them look perfect, so kissable.

Percy couldn’t help but swallow hard, his breath hitching.

“Hi, Percy,” She drew closer, stopping directly in front of him and simply gazing at him.

His heart hammered in his chest. He was intimidated—he had no clue what to do. He’d never been in this situation with such a beautiful girl.

But at that moment, a thought struck him. 

Who cares? I’m a God’s son; things can’t possibly go that wrong.

So his serious expression melted away, and he grinned—sideways and confident. His gaze sharpened with a renewed sense of purpose.

“Hey,” He answered, voice taking on a teasing edge as he took a step forward. The air around him seemed to shift as her perfume surrounded him. 

Gently, he brought his hand up to her shoulder, his fingers almost trembling as they touched the fabric of her shirt, and, with the same softness, he swept a lock of hair away.

His smile grew just a little more as he felt the delicate flutter of her response, a tiny shift in her posture at his touch.

“Are you going to tell me your name, or are we keeping up the mystery?” Percy asked, his grin playful.

Hell, she was taken aback.

Just a few hours ago, he had seemed so lost, confused about what was happening, and clearly intimidated by her. She was used to that, but now, things felt completely different.

He was gorgeous, his dark hair casual and his face something straight out of a movie. His green eyes held her attention, captivating in a way that was hard to ignore.

The shift in his confidence left her more than a little intrigued.

And she was always prepared for any challenge that might come.

Her name slipped from her lips, and Percy felt a sense of awe. It was the most beautiful name he’d ever heard, and somehow, he knew he wouldn’t forget it anytime soon.

“So, Percy, where’d you go? I didn’t see you at dinner,” She asked, her fingers absentmindedly playing with the bracelet on her wrist.

“Oh, a lot; camp’s a total blast.” Percy said with a grin, enjoying the irony.

“Really? You didn’t seem bored with me,” she raised an eyebrow.

“I said camp was boring, not you.” 

Her head tilted playfully. “You're cute, Percy,” She laughed.

And just like that, Percy spotted it: a faint, subtle kiss mark resting on her high cheekbone.

With that, it all fell into place; her way of speaking, each of her movements filled with allure, and the undeniable aura that surrounded her—making it obvious that anyone who got to gaze at her had already won the greatest reward.

And that would likely be the only privilege they’d ever have.

She had to be a daughter of Aphrodite.

“D'you figure something out, pretty boy?” Her voice snapped him back to the moment.

“Maybe,” He replied, leaning in slightly. “But I’m still figuring you out.”

The air in that hidden space became incredibly heavy, holding the intense tension that hung between them. 

She had no intention of taking the first move. Her eyes were fixed on his, looking for that sign of desperation she needed to find. Her hands trembled with anticipation, picturing what could come next as she noticed a trace of lust in his green eyes.

Percy quickly grasped the situation. If he wanted anything to happen, he had to be the one to start. He had fallen into her game, but he had gone too far to turn back now.

Too far to lose it.

“Something's telling me I shouldn’t be here, that I should walk away,” He murmured, his hand lifting to gently trace the line of her jaw. “But I think I’m willing to find out.”

“Oh, you sound brave,” She whispered, her hands exploring his chest, testing the waters. “Or maybe you are just reckless,”

“I guess that depends on what comes next.” Percy replied, his eyes glinting with determination.

His hands moved to her neck, holding it tenderly and never breaking eye contact. It was like a contest—each of them daring the other to break first.

“And what do you want to happen next, Percy?” She shivered slightly under his touch, but didn’t pull away. 

“I want to see if you're as fearless as you act.”

As he whispered the words in her ear, her lips parted for just a second; the faintest invitation. Percy couldn’t resist it, closing the distance between them in one swift motion.

As soon as their lips met, their bodies took over, deciding for them. His hands moved to her hair, hers to his biceps. Her nails scratched the skin and he could only push her against the large trunk of the tree, the wood scraping softly her skin as he lifted her.

Percy’s fingers skimmed the edges of her orange t-shirt, feeling the heat of her skin beneath his fingertips. His pulse raced as he felt her legs squeeze his waist and pulled her even closer, feeling the tremble of her chest against his own, the weight of her closeness making his head spin.

She was the first to pull back, lips brushing his lightly before she tilted her head back to rest against the wood. He couldn't stop, pressing soft kisses everywhere he could.

“Wait,” She said, making him tilt his head, slowing down his movements to listen. “Nobody is gonna get jealous, right?”

Last thing she wanted was to kiss a taken guy; there are some limits, y'know.

He smiled, amused. “Don’t make me laugh,”

Her fingers, light as a whisper, traced the line of his jaw, and in that moment, time seemed to stretch. He could feel himself losing control. Her proximity was both a dream and a nightmare.

But her laughter was like music to his ears, and Percy found himself smiling more than he expected. 

“You even have a pretty laugh,” He remarked, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

She raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised by his words. She’d expected something more physical, something a little more bold, but this caught her off guard. She liked it, it was just weird.

“Do you know what you’re getting into?” Her challenge hung in the air, daring him to prove that he was more than just a guy caught up in the moment. “Do you want to?”

But for him it wasn't a challenge, it was what he wanted. Percy held her gaze, something in him shifting, the tone in her voice mixing with a vulnerability he hadn't expected.

His chest tightened as he realized how much he wished to take that step—to cross that line, to get lost in her world.

In any way he could, in any way she’d let him.

He not only wanted to worship her, but to love her.

“Yes, I want to,” Percy said, pecking her cheekbone, right over the kiss mark. “It was love at first sight, I’m not letting you go anywhere now,”

In the last months I was wondering and being a bit preoccupied with GG not having new endorsements and losing existing ones. Also with him staying away from show appearances and now not going on any NY show. But the last couple of days I keep thinking that he’s trying to escape that “traffic star” stigma and keeping it low key. Even though his album broke any record there was ti be broken. What do you think of GG’s “behavior” towards the c-ent this past year?

If you're genuinely hand-wringing over GG's career and endorsements, I think that's a pointless waste. GG is doing exceptionally well. While he doesn't have as many endorsements as DD does right now, the ones he does have are dominated by luxury brands and high end products. He's also still one of the top people in the industry in terms of number of endorsement contracts. He's doing fine.

Frankly, when an endorsement of his doesn't renew I always assume it's because they can't afford him anymore. No one - no one - has the power to move goods like GG does. No one is even on the same continent when it comes to sales. Let me guarantee you he's one of - if not THE - most sought after brand endorsement contracts in China.

I don't know how long you've been around, but over time you'll likely come to see that endorsements come and go. It's a totally normal, totally routine part of doing business. Brands are constantly shifting their strategies and adjusting their audience targets, budgets fluctuate, etc. etc. etc. - all of this leading to changes in spokespeople. This is completely normal.

I also think it's important for fans to remember that GG and DD are not social media influencers, they're actors. Endorsements will never be the central focus of their careers, and if anything they're likely to gradually do fewer endorsements as their careers become more serious and more established. Fans should resist the urge to measure GG and DD's careers by endorsement contracts.

Artists in China are also required by the government to be accountable for the brands they endorse. They must only endorse products and services they themselves or close family members are using. Someone like GG is going to be very picky about which contracts he takes on. He's a shrewd businessman who cares about how he is perceived and what he represents.

Frankly, the kind of people who worry about this type of thing tend to be insecure fans who are trying compete to one-up other fandoms for whose idol has the most clout. It's incredibly stupid and pointless.

We don't even know the details of their endorsement contracts, so it's pointless to try to bean-count over them. What would you rather have - 10 contracts valued at $100K each, or one valued at $1 million? The amount of money might be the same, but the amount of work is dramatically different.

So I urge people not to worry about such things. We don't know what's really happening behind the scenes.

As for live appearances, he hasn't done a live NYE performance for years. I honestly don't know why people still insist on expecting it of him. It's obviously not something he's making a priority.

Why? Well, only GG knows for sure, but I suspect there are multiple factors at play. The traffic star issue is a big one I've talked a lot about in the past. Both GG and DD have been transitioning away from that perception and more toward the path of serious actors/performers. But there are other factors as well.

Given that he has his own material out now, and a license to produce live performances, he may want to save himself for a future concert of his own (we can hope, anyway).

Frankly he doesn't need to do things like that. He's one of the top stars in China right now, and scarcity seems to make him even more anticipated by audiences.

He might not want to deal with the stress and hassle of preparing for and doing a performance like that. There is a LOT that goes into those performances, and a lot of stress and unpredictability. The last time he did Dragon TV there were huge audio issues that almost ruined his performance. He hasn't done NYE since. (Before anyone takes that and runs with it and assumes that's why - we have no proof of that. I'm just saying it's a lot of work and a lot of stress and if you don't need to do it, why bother?)

I suspect that control is a huge factor here. He is in a position now where he can pick and choose situations where he has a lot of choice and power. Why would he go back into unpredictable situations?

He said in an interview a while back that he hasn't been doing variety show appearances because he finds dealing with people's expectations and reactions too stressful. It's possible that applies here as well.

He wants to spend time with his parents, relaxing and watching DD on TV. He rarely gets much time off, and I have no doubt that he wants to make the most of it.

In terms of 'attitude toward the industry', I think both GG and DD have been doing their own thing, focusing on doing the kinds of projects and activities they enjoy rather than chasing after every opportunity. Gone are the days when they'd be packing their calendars full of a wide range of activities of varying value and appeal. Their choices seem far more curated and personal these days. I talked about that a fair bit in the past, including recent posts.

I believe they're both doing their own thing, taking their own paths, and working toward having greater control over their careers, greater control over their projects, more time for their private lives, etc. and it shows.

I mean, just look at GG's album release and it becomes obvious that we don't need to worry about his career. The man has - on top of all the big projects he's been doing with top directors and top luxury brands - been developing and recording an album of his own, completely on his own time and with his own money and team, without any of it leaking, and with the few melons about it totally not believed by audiences. That's a pretty big flex.

And the album has been a massive, massive success.

So yeah. Don't worry about GG. One thing you can be certain of is that he will always focus on what's best for him and his career, and he's smart and capable and surrounded by experts whose entire job is to support that process.

I can’t really talk much about Yarnaby because his death was SUPER glitched? So I was kind of just like “…okay- I mean yikes for him but-“ I can’t even tell if it was something I did that made him burn? I’m someone who hates chase sequences (not because they’re bad I just get too stressed lmao) but his felt kiiiind of underwhelming? But again one of the places I assume he was supposed to be chasing was- glitched as all hell he didn’t chase me at all, but anyways, my son that I can’t draw, I’m so sorry

Pianosaurus- honestly? I didn’t give him the time of day during promos and such, and honestly now I’m ashamed I didn’t, I’m someone that needs time to just- stare at a character’s design for more than four seconds, just to picture their potential, and staring at his design after the fact, yeah, a MUSICAL chase scene? Are you KIDDING me?? I would’ve fucked with that, SO. HARD. I think Mob was trying to go for the funny route, that or just to show how unstable/strong Doey is, but- I don’t know maybe he could’ve come in and saved us.. after an actual chase scene? The Doctor- I don’t know man I wasn’t too hyped about him like- fight wise? But I knew he’d come with lore and it’d be a different kind of villain so I was still hyped in a sense, and- since I can’t say much about Yarnaby’s death- then the Nightmare Critters stuff? Like it was interesting he was playing with us, but he just dies so easily, like I guess it makes sense, he’s an immovable(?) computer, but for someone everyone expected to be the main villain, and who was talking so much shit to us the whole game, he was also kind of underwhelming, disappointing really the mindless drone computers was also all glitchy so I couldn’t tell you much there

Saved this for last (critique wise) because if you follow me/like my stuff you probably know I love the Nightmare Critters, they got me into actually drawing Poppy Playtime stuff instead of just fixating on the Smiling Critters but not drawing them, helped that I had finally gave in and watched chapter three (out of order.. I finally watched chapters one and two like a week ago, fake fan I know) in September, and then they came out in October

Maybe it’s dumb, but these stupid emo critters mean a lot to me for personal reasons, a lot more than they probably should, so to say I was excited was an understatement, and- the trailer didn’t give me high hopes, but I stayed hopeful, thinking maybe that tease of a Bigger Baba would lead to something? Like- “maybe she’s actually an ally! They did say multiple allies, she’s the black sheep of the Nightmare Critters! It makes sense! They have their own jingle made too, maybe there’s a commercial!” And then to not even get cutouts of them felt kind of like a stab in the heart

They started their big promotion of the chapter with a week long introduction and- nothing, and yes you can argue the same thing happened to the Smiling Critters in chapter three though comparatively they got way more than the Nightmare Critters, which they gave us more of in chapter four, but that’s just the thing, why make the Nightmare Critters in the first place then? It’s not like it’d tarnish the Smiling Critters’ brand, they were introduced AS antagonistic plushies trying to eat us, and if the idea was that they were such a failed attempt (in universe) at trying to attain the same popularity as the Smiling Critters.. why not say? Give us a note? A line? An acknowledgment besides them visibly attacking us to their existence? Even as a villain despite the symbolism Baba could’ve been a parallel to Catnap, something, but nope, she was just the main grunt character, like actually, that’s what her and the Nightmare Critters were, Yarnaby was a pet, they were like The Doctor sent out bugs to come at us, in the cage room they were just slightly bigger bugs, like what is that about by the way? Are they not Bigger Bodies? Are they the “main” Critters? Like tell us things about them please, even their little jingle is an Easter Egg there’s NO acknowledgment of them, at all, and to top it all off, no cutouts, when characters like Daisy have cutouts despite never being a character we face, why have us see the Smiling Critters cutouts again with the same dialogue- and all the other new characters get cutouts, but not the Nightmare Critters?? Why????? I dunno, it’s not that serious but it’s incredibly disappointing for me personally, as we had months of hype for- literally nothing

Edit: I have more to say actually, why the heck was Baba even advertised as different from the rest of the Nightmare Critters? In everything we get of them she’s in the middle, or the main focus, the spotlight, for.. what? She’s the only one attacking us? Like I just don’t get it, I still believe a better plot were to have her be a parallel to Catnap, because they’re similar situations in a way, Baba’s Prototype was just Dr. Sawyer instead, just.. minus having a hinted personality, but maybe this time, we could’ve saved her when we couldn’t Catnap or something? So like it’s not too similar, but I dunno, literally anything would’ve been better than what we got

✅ But! It wasn’t all bad, this chapter did have a bit of good in it that I enjoyed, case in point- ✅

Doey, GOD I love his colours, I jokingly hated him because I fucking hate drawing circles, and this man is nothing but circles, but my actual opinions pre release I just couldn’t wait to see him animated, I love characters that don’t have to deal with anatomy, I hate anatomy, stretch away king, but I didn’t have much of an opinion otherwise, then we find out he’s made up of three people? The lore is hot, his jingle is a bop also, the fact he killed his (well one of the people’s) parents, that was illegal, stop that, and I’m glad that he didn’t just agree with Poppy’s plan, but also I wish they talked about the long term? Say they defeat The Prototype, it’s not like they can go back into society, I’m surprised no one had that existential thought, his death though- a bit convoluted but yeah, also to my understanding The Prototype set off the bombs right? But we still planned to do it, just maybe we could’ve moved the Safe Haven guys out beforehand I dunno, but that was such a sad death, he said SORRY TO US. US???? BRO WE SUUUUUCK, RIP the king of this chapter

Claire and her patients

And why I think she may harm Carmen

It’s incredible how many stories told by Claire about her interactions with injured people are disturbing in close up. I honestly need someone to put a name to it (like clinical one) because so far, it's just disturbing.

In S3, I thought the show was doing a number that made me see her process the pain after the breakup and work helping others through it. I cared about that; I did. It is difficult not to root for someone in pain. But then it got bizarre the more medical scenes we had. Mainly the one where she committed malpractice

The lacking

When she was telling the story about the girl with a million cuts, you know, a kid she almost killed because of a medical error (one that was actually totally preventable) there are so many things wrong with it. Some audience members have stated that scene was to show that “Claire is not perfect,” but that shit didn’t have that effect on me at all. It was a relief to see other people felt this way, some in this fandom even said it was so unnatural it made them laugh. And I am curious about why that is.

From the beginning, the lack of guilt surrounding the incident has been glaring for me. It's not like we see her break down crying or be afraid of what Carmy is going to think of her as a doctor. She committed malpractice, mistake or not. Doctors go out of business for things that they cannot prevent. They are not ashamed of their work; they are ashamed of the result. That harmed somebody.

I watched a lot of medical-related shit (as I assume most people do). The character Joan Watson in Elementary stopped working as a doctor thoroughly after losing one (1) patient over something she could not predict or prevent. A medical board gave her permission to work, but it was still not enough. She was so afraid of hurting someone else and was so ashamed that she was manipulated by the son of his deceased patient to give him money. In “The West Wing,” Abbey Bartlett was a doctor before being the First Lady, and she had an incident in an operation that resulted in the death of her patient (an infection that got complicated). She defended her work, she is possitive she didn’t make a mistake and we are inclined to believe that because we have seen her character admit to her faults before.

There was no shame in Claire. You can process your emotions however you want, but it would make more sense even if you were defensive. Why did she tell that story…as she was also the victim? Maybe the fact that the story relates to malpractice makes it difficult to say it without sounding bad, but there were better ways to make her empathetic than suspicious.

“I was slammed,” as she could ever justify a mistake as stupid as the one she made. I know understaffing hospitals is a serious issue, and overworked doctors can make stupid mistakes, but she didn’t say things like “I should have seen it” or “I have nightmares about it.” And she told it in a way that seemed like she was expecting Carmy to understand it wasn’t her fault. Even if it wasn’t, doctors would carry guilt about malpractice and the harm they were accomplices of, even if literally no divine intervention could have made a difference. By not allowing Claire this very normal emotion, you are setting her apart to the audience members who are paying attention.

The warning

And then, somehow, the story is more about how young and beautiful her patient was…I am sorry, but that almost felt… fetishizing? It reminded me of those poems people made online about having a story of self-harming: “She was so beautiful in her scars.” Maybe that’s me stretching it.

She also keeps telling the stories of what caused the injuries in the first place, and not ironically, is always people doing something risky/stupid in the first place. She is never seen taking care of a bullet wound or a severe illness suddenly worsening. It’s always people putting their lives at risk.

And that’s an element that terrifies me, thinking of who Carmy is and his gif above. He has self-harming hallucinations, sometimes in the middle of dangerous situations, and his mental condition prevents him from reacting accordingly. He is absent as if he was hight/drunk, but it is his mental illness. It may even be tied to a suicidal underline.

And then you hear this story about a girl that got almost killed by Claire’s negligence; in that moment, she needed help getting better because she had an accident. She was not able to prevent her injury. She was also drunk when it happened, so she had no equipment to react accordingly. She is the equivalent of Carmen.

I need help thinking it is supposed to be a coincidence. These writers are not stupid, even if you could justify how Claire is written as saying, “Carmy is supposed to be in love with the simple” (which is such a lame excuse. People can be simple and interesting).

Wouldn’t it be cruel in hindsight to make Carmy’s true love the one person who also has a story of harming people in similar conditions of danger that he had?

I would like to quote something I read about the scene that introduces us to Claire, the story of “why” she wanted to be a doctor. In most medical-related media, these events tend to be very traumatic to the character, “I lost my mother to cancer and wanted to prevent other people from feeling that pain” “I had to watch my friend dying because she was bleeding and I couldn’t do nothing” is always about preventing someone’s harm, because of empathy. Then you have Claire’s story, quoting This fucking excellent post by

“The graphic injury made her want to understand it. Let that sink in. The other kids were disturbed by the injury and, no doubt, also by the cries of the injured girl. Claire wasn’t. She was mentally disconnected from the scene because her empathy wasn't activated.”(...) She looks at people as a thing to analyze, and she does so in order to get what she wants from them"

I firmly believe this. Shout out to this post by @gingergofastboatsmojito talking about Claire being a benign narcissist. She has created a narrative about herself, and that's why she seems too eager to help people who cannot fend for themselves, people who are sad, lost, and hurt, because she feels her value in it. Heartbreak doesn't make it look cute. That's just another magic trick.

And the worst part, she may be a good doctor 80% of the time, but if you have this incident, there is the possibility that it has happened more than once. Like wtf, she said she was good at “taking care of sad drunk people,” but the moment she had a drunk patient, she actually was unable to provide good care for her. She actively made the situation worse. Her mistake could have been fatal. And she related the whole thing, mentioning how beautiful she was before her accident and how it was so amusing she laughed after because she couldn’t feel the pain. She told that shit like it was amusing. Idk, I have never heard a doctor talking like that.

And now we have a whole season of Carmy thinking Claire is the solution for his happiness, the missing piece, and whatnot. This is unnerving. He will run for her at full speed, call her in a time of need/crisis, and then what? Would Claire's interest/lack of empathy would be finally revealed? Will she steer Carmy in an ever worse direction?

Why is it always Robin has to prove himself to Batman? Be it any Robin. And no, I'm not talking about characters, because Bruce—Bruce is like “Everyone must prove themselves to me but I'm not answerable to anyone” that motherfucker. Very IC.

I'm talking about stories, about narratives—why does every Robin-centric narrative has a “prove themselves to Batman” arc—but Bruce's arc never involves proving himself to anyone?

Why, after the events of the Tower of Babel, Bruce didn't have to work to gain the Justice League's approval? Why didn't he have to work to redeem himself, dammit!

Yes. He had to reveal his identity. But then, it wasn't his idea. It was Clark's. It's fundamentally different from Dick unmasking in front of the Titans: Dick feels in his bones that it isn't fair that he's the only one masked and the Titans are up for mutiny, so he made an executive decision.

It didn't even occur to Bruce to do it. Dammit, the fucker wasn't even trying to get back into Justice League. Clark had to persuade him. And no, I don't mean he should have gone and begged them to let him in. He doesn't need them.

But let's be honest: none of the Leaguers need the League. But humanity does. That's why they put their differences aside and band together.

Bruce is selfless when it comes to sacrificing his family a la Batman : Ego. Oh!—it's Bruce's children that are dying in Batman's mission. Isn't he so noble?—the picture of tragedy? The greiving father? The man who can't even have a steady romantic relationship because Batman wouldn't let him? So selfless—until he isn't. Until the JL—in other words, a planet full of people—need him to swallow his pride. Then, he isn't selfless anymore.

He's selfless when he's a father sending his children to war for the greater good—but he's not selfless when it's time to swallow his pride, to take the risk of trusting someone even after being traumatised and betrayed—for the greater good. (And honestly his trust issues seem narcissistic when surrounded by people like Dick, Alfred and freaking Commissioner Gordon!)

You know who does it? Dick Grayson. That's who. The “trust no one” maxim has been drilled into him by Bruce, but even then he chooses to trust. Not because he's stupid, but because it's a requirement. He totally expects to be stabbed in the back; he isn't naïve. But he'd rather be betrayed than have someone be barred from help because they seemed suspicious. It's canon in Titans. He says it in words, look it up. To Brother Blood, I guess.

Bruce didn't have to work to get on the League's good side. He just had to reveal his ID to regain trust and that, too, was Clark's idea.

And that's not an attempt at redemption, because if it was, then why did Clark have to do it too? Clark didn't do anything to deserve it. But Bruce forces him to and Clark agrees: for the greater good that the League trusting each other would ensure.

Clark Kent, who chooses to forego a mask so that people trust him. Literally, it comes down to that. Who has to built his whole civilian life around the fact that he shows his bare fucking face to the whole world.

And honestly, if I were to throw genre convention aside and read the text the hard way, Bruce doesn't seem really all that bothered with keeping his ID a secret. He's nothing compared to Clark. I mean. Come on, look at the number of people who know Bruce's ID and the number that know Clark's and tell me. Fucking tell me who's more serious about that stuff.

Bruce's entire existence hinges on other characters’ kindness, in and out of universe. In-universe there's this massive brigade of people who know his ID and keep it a secret. Out of universe, writers who show him to be the best even though Clark, Diana, Dick are all more worthy than him.

This is what you get when you let little incels run creative industries.

What did Bruce ever have to do to redeem himself to anyone? Literally anyone? Bruce would let Gotham burn if it meant he keeps his colossal pride intact. But oh, send his children to die: woe is him, this greiving father, so tragique—would absolutely do that.

He isn't even a hero. You know the impact of Batman: Ego and BtAS pales when put next to his very selfish acts when it comes to himself.

Because always—ALWAYS—the uwu factor in Bruce's stories aren't personal.

Not like it's in Clark's who has to face xenophobia because he's an alien. He's natural existence—his powers that are a part of him existing—being called a threat. He still helps.

Not like Diana who comes to the Man's World and decides to stay behind despite it being, well, a Man's World. That would never really respect her as much as it respects a man, any man, even though she's a literal Goddess. Coming and staying in Man's World for her means loneliness. Being immortal and watching every friend she ever made become a memory. But she chose to do it. Because at the end of the day, it's not about her. It's about helping people.

But for Bruce, in true male-is-default fashion, it's about losing people. People he loves.

His parents' death, Jason's death and so on and so forth. I'm not saying losing someone is not painful. I'm just saying it's always about his manpain.

"...the thing about Leo in Rise is that he's still developing the leader capability. Consider this: he's living how he wanted to live but never got the chance to in previous iterations. You can see in the 1987 iteration when Donnie used the "personality changer" (don't remember the exact name but it's been awhile) he was more relaxed and fun, but perhaps it wasn't a change in personality but rather a gear switch. Leo has always had the leader/being responsible opted in as like, his main thing. However clearly the personality swap had to have something to pull out, so theoretically he was always like this. I think it was a good change in pace for him.

Instead of Rise completely erasing the type of person Leo is from the show entirely, they gave it to Raphael. Yes, Raphael is aloof and a bit dumb sometimes but when shit gets serious, he toughens up and he gets stuff done. He wants the best for his brothers and tries to be responsible for them all. He's very insecure and nervous for his brother's sake, and he tries to protect them. As for honor and spirituality, the show isn't very big on it (blame Nick) BUT at the end of the day, the first turtle to show that was Raphael to get his brothers to learn the Hamato ways. Raphael was the one to help his brothers to train and tried his best to keep them grounded.

Eventually, we do get to see Leo be a leader, and sure he's not shown to be as serious or insecure as the other Leos but that's because he's RISING up to become sort of like that. Even in the movie, we saw Leo mature and kinda become like the Leo you enjoy watching. Sure, this Leo has a totally different coping mechanism compared to the others, but it's what you'd have to expect from a modern teenager (I mean, I can't be the only one seeing the memes teenagers make to cope with their lives.)

Rise didn't ruin him, but rather showed a different perspective of him that we don't get to see often. The whole show kinda makes you remember that they're teenagers. The teenagers I see becoming leaders around my school remind me of Leo alot, they're flamboyant and loud on the outside but when you start to know them is that on the inside you can tell they're insecure and feel like they have to find a way for people to like them so people listen to them.

Honestly, it works for rise, because you can see Raphael failing to get the interest of his brothers sometimes, whereas Leo can easily get people to actually listen to him. He's bold, but that convinces his brothers to listen to him. Unlike the other Leos we don't see him struggle to lead, because we slowly see that it's natural to him. To bring that aspect back, we had Raphael struggle, which leads to the eventual switch.

So that hero/for honor personality is still there, but it's in Raphael, not Leo. You have to realize that the roles switched for a reason. The purpose of rise was to give TMNT a different perspective but not everyone caught onto the perspective because it takes the subtle details to figure that out."

You always have fun with Yuta, so that’s what really matters. 

Doyoung - Similarly to Taeil, Doyoung has a good memory, so he knows exactly what to get you every single time. If you said you enjoyed a certain dish or outfit, it’s something that he’ll give you, even if it’s years later. It’s extremely impressive and always such a surprise to you. On a good day, you’ll catch Doyoung in the kitchen baking a treat for the both of you. He has to put that baking talent somewhere, you know. 

Jaehyun - Jaehyun enjoys taking care of you more than—almost—anything. It doesn't really matter what he does in particular, but it’s always nice to be treated nicely. Honestly, the only bad thing about Jaehyun is that he’d brag about a lot of things, although they're not even that serious. It’s really him trying to show off to impress you, which is pretty sweet. Whenever this happens, he seems to get a bit embarrassed after it. You can always tell when his ears get red.

Jungwoo - He gets you all kinds of Snoopy-related items solely to remind you of him. Jungwoo has given you accessories, kitchen sets, and so much more that is just... Snoopy. You don’t know if he mainly does this to you or if it’s normal, but there’s not much of a complaint. Jungwoo would try to scare you with his imitation skills, which work a lot more than they really should. Sometimes you know it’s him doing it, but it’s the fact that you don't expect it that gets to you.

Mark - For someone who mainly takes out the trash and helps with laundry when it comes to the group, Mark is weirdly insistent on helping you with chores. You could be doing the dishes, and he’ll ask if you need help, but he will still do them if you say no. The only “bad” thing he would do is offer to take you out to get something you want, then take you to a totally different spot to eat his favorite food with him. It’s not the worst, but it is a bit odd.

Haechan - Haechan likes to keep the place clean, which is always handy when you don’t actually feel like doing anything. He likes to tidy up with music, which is always a nice touch. There’s just something about him that makes me want to believe he would torture you in the weirdest ways, like making you watch his dancing without music, which is oddly uncomfortable. There isn’t a reason for this. It just happens. Haechan would probably eat your food but say that you “just forgot you already ate it” to get away with it.

So. Let me tell y'all about a guy named Camus. And a girl named Lala. And other folk. Welcome to Episode 14 of Waku Puyo Extras.

(Ah, back at it again writing these things.)

Hey guys, Gren here, and welcome to Episode 14 of Waku Puyo Extras, a series where I cover basically random stuff about Puyo and Madou as a whole. The Waku part is just because my brand is a single game I translate.

As my free time gets smaller and smaller, the drive to show off cool stuff remains about the same. Thank goodness school is over soon. I'm still alive, don't worry.

Finals and AP Exams are very much happening, so I'm spending that time studying. I'm hoping I pass.

Now, you would expect me to write about PPPP (P⁴ as I call it, Puzzle Pop in other locations) since it released and has a ton of stuff, notably well written characters. But alas:

I'm an Android user. Can't play it.

Frankly, at the moment, I'm not too interested in it right now.

So, the last episode was about Draco, that famous lass. What about this time? Well, since 80% of my work here is Madou related, why not give a showcase of some of the lesser known characters as a whole? Manga and novel stuff included.

With that, hope you enjoy. Also I said a bigger post is coming soon and drop it a literal month later. Damn.

So, Who ARE These Guys?

If you're not familiar with these characters, I honestly don't blame you. These guys are considered kinda niche in the franchise, but are more well known than some guys. I could mention Hanzo and no one besides people who played the game he's from or read the wiki would know him. Oh, or maybe Skeleton-D if we wanted to.

For now, I'll just cover the people have at the very least some stuff about them.

We'll begin with Camus, easily the most recognizable one that we'll be covering today. I swear if he was in Puyo now, he'd be so damn popular.

(From the manual of the Mega Drive release of Madou 1. Notable for being one of the very few times Camus is drawn with the teenage Arle and Lala, both 16, making Camus 18 in this.)

The man, or rather boy, in that photo is the fabled Camus of the Sable Ord- I mean Madou Monogatari 1, both on the SEGA Mega Drive and Game Gear. Since this is a game where Arle is in kindergarten, Camus is her senior. Yeah, senior is the word for this one. He's notable for being the only person to get a perfect score on his exams, that lucky bastard.

Oh yeah he's also like 8 years old for the record in that

In the game, he's both helps you and hinders you for different reasons. Sometimes he's very nice and teaches you things, and other times he's taking stuff from you for playing the game for longer than three hours.

However, at the end of the game (Where he also might help you depending on some stuff), it turns out he was an illusion all along, which is always...fun, you know? That one guy who's been helping you out turns out to not even be real, least in the Game Gear version of things.

Honestly? He's a pretty interesting guy in the game. Arle holds him with some respect, and Lala quite literally has a massive crush on the guy that she's willing to show. Unfortunately.

(Things are really serious in the Kindergarten Exam Fandom...)

He can come off as rude but at the very least he means well. And my goodness, his theme in the game is good.

Underrated gem.

Now, up until a while ago, I kinda thought that'd be the only games he was in, a grand total of 2 whole games. However, by doing this for...a year now, turns out that there IS one more appearance of Camus, presumably to be 18 in the game because...Well, Arle is a teenager there.

Now if I'll be honest, I STILL dunno all too much about the game, despite doing an entire episode on it. The game is super text-heavy, so I don't know EVERYTHING besides some of the Japanese history involved with it. (Crazy how the Heian Era is now some JJK meme. Time is a fun concept.)

Here, Camus has taken the role of the leader of the Shinsengumi, Kondo Isami. It's a long story, so... I'll just link my own work here. (I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO PUT LINKS IN MY TEXT...)

I never covered Camus extensively in that game due to his admittedly small role in that game, but he's a fairly upstanding guy. Schezo works under him as the vice leader. Ain't that cool?

Check it out if you're curious about that, some basic Japanese history that may be a tad inaccurate, or JUMP HERO.

And err...that's every game he's from. Yeah, he's in a grand total of what, three games? It's not much but it's still something. He's a very cool lad.

Wait, who's Lala?

I'm glad you asked, me. Lalah is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam that works with Char after he...well, this is a Madou blog. If only I could talk to you about Gundam. But alas.

Lala is ACTUALLY a girl who's the same age as Arle, and the girl who's madly in love with Camus...as I've told before. But she does have a little more than just that, don't worry.

In the Game Gear version at least, she sneaks into the tower Arle went into to graduate, upset that she wasn't the one to take the exam, but rather Arle. And yes. She broke a brick wall to get to her.

(A 6 year old is stronger than any of us. LMK if you can run into a brick wall just fine.)

Now if I had to describe her, it'd be "Arrogant but funny as hell". Because she's arrogant but funny as hell. Arle calls Lala her BFF, to which she doesn't take that reply nicely and says they ain't BFF'S, they ain't even friends. Straight hater energy. (She wasn't able to take the exam due to a cold.)

Camus appears to stop her from interfering, and she goes on this tangent about how wonderful he is, and how he always eluded her... and chases him, as shown more above.

Things start to get funky when you get deeper into the tower, as Lala makes a literal trap hole, and Arle falls down. However, Lala is mad that she fell and NOT Camus, leading him to appear in the floor above and basically say "Idiot. I'm not falling for that." and she continues to chase him.

Her reign of terror ends when Camus SEALS HER AWAY for the rest of the game. But she's okay after it all don't worry. Arle summed it up the best way I could. She ends up fine after the end of the game, however.

Lala also appears in Chaotic Final Exam too, now 16, but honestly...it's one of the games where I know next to nothing about it. Apologies. Just know that she's there and not Camus. (Though with the style of how the game looks...probably for the better.)

She's just overall what we call in the industry... a girlfail. She tries her absolute best but fails so, so much that I can't help but laugh at her and pity her at the same time.

I have no cool segway into this section. Introducing... Rasp.

You might've seen them around if you've checked my blog here or there as a front page image for my works.

And you'd be right. Rasp is from the Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Manga, a brand new character just made for the thing. They're basically a minion who mostly impede the way for Schezo and Rulue. I say "they" because, well, Rasp is genderless.

Fun fact: Their salary is unknown, but they apparently get paid more than a Manga artist, so take that as how you will.

Rasp does appear frequently throughout the volumes, and does indeed fight Schezo. While they do lose, at least they looked pretty cool while doing so.

Now these devilish goofballs are folks I want to show...but don't have much info on them just yet. Or there wasn't that much to begin with.

Septem:

(Creatura...La creature 98...)

Septem is another genderless character from the series, coming from Arle no Bouken, a game I know next to nothing about. All I know from it is them and that they cling to Arle like a sister. I love them.

This is absolutely one character I wish I knew more on, since she's much more developed as a character...I just don't know much about Arle no Bouken.

Dark Witch:

(What is this, a doppelganger bargain sale?)

Now she has a little more to her that I DO know but it's nothing spectacular.

Planned to be in Puyo N but was scrapped due to the idea of her being too serious, which is quite the reason for Puyo, but appears in Comet Summoner anyways as a final boss.

You can even play as her, and fight Witch herself and beat her... and possessing her. Kinda, sorta.

Runelord:

(Dweeb appeared in one game and changed a man)

Runelord is an odd case, because some of his lore is stuck onto True Madou Monogatari, which in of itself...is kinda iffy lore wise. And also really long.

In Madou S? Wants Schezo to be the next successor, he says no, fight happens, Schezo wins but is affected anyways. Apparently he was beaten by Lagnus, but that comes from True Madou, so the accuracy of the Canon can be very much debated. It all depends if you think it's Canon or not.

A/N - Hey so got a couple different headcannon ideas floating around for this one, but I feel like Baji might only really approve of his sister dating a few folks - Souya is one of the few. Couldn’t stop writing this I love Bluebell so much 💙

Souya ‘Angry’ Kawata x Baji’s Older Sister

• It goes without saying that Souya would not only fall hard, but pretty damn quickly after a friendship has been established- but let’s backtrack a bit-

• Souya meets (Name) at a Toman meeting one evening, the meeting adjourned pretty quickly due to the low, consistent growl of Mikey’s stomach

Good thing it was informal, just the Captains and Vice Captains of each division, maybe one or two others 

But honestly, that begged an even bigger question; who was this vaguely familiar dark haired beauty? And what was she doing talking with Mikey and Draken so casually?

He was just about to shrug it off when Baji approached 

“There a reason you tossin’ that mean mug at my sister?”

Baji was half joking … but also half serious

He knew Angry meant no harm but it still sort of ticked him off - he’s very protective of his own when it comes down to it

“Huh?!”

- Is what Angry said, vein popping as he stuck his neck out. Now what he meant by that was ‘Was I really?’ 

We all know this boy is kinda bad at communicating with people

“There a problem here?” Nahoya chimes, already itching for a fight, any excuse would do

“Keisuke! Are you picking fights again?”

The dark haired beauty in question huffs over, stern look, hands on her admittedly curvy hips

“Relax-,” She reaches up, yanking on his ear with no remorse 

“How can I? God, all this time and you’re still causing me trouble!” 

Nahoya is hysterical at the sight of Baji’s embarrassed, defeated face. Souya on the other hand starts to grow flustered, finally putting the pieces together 

“I’m sorry about him!” She bows a bit in apology, an ear still between her soft fingers, “You’re um… Souya and Nahoya, right?”

Souya opens his mouth to speak but Nahoya beats him to the punch

“Yea, what of it? Who the Hell are ya, anyway?”

Souya gives his brother a look but she only laughs, completely unfazed 

“She’s in our class, Nahoya…,”

“Oh yeeea, must’ve been catching some Z’s or somethin’. My bad!”

Souya shakes his head and she suddenly grabs his hands in both of hers, successfully startling him

“Well it’s nice to meet you both again. I hope we can be friends!” 

He’s flustered, eyes on the ground, but stutters out a small “yea…”

From then on, at least when they decided to show up to class, she makes a point to eat lunch with them, occasionally walking them to Toman meetings 

She’s much kinder and more bubbly than what they expect, not to mention a total Otaku - something Nahoya found hilarious but Souya silently found cute

She was also very stubborn but that apple didn’t fall too far at all

Doesn’t take Nahoya too much longer to start making excuses as to why he can’t tag along - Souya is seriously confused, and honestly worried his brother has an issue with (Name) - he could be fickle like that

“Nah, she’s cool. For a girl anyway.”

Blue is even more confused

“Then…what’s up?”

Smiley starts to snicker, Angry’s brow furrows 

“Ya like her, don’t you?”

Souya feels something tug at his heartstrings-

Did he…?

He definitely enjoyed her company - the evening visits to Convenience Stores, the late night chats about the latest chapters of whatever manga, even the study sessions were pleasant. 

And at some point he’d gotten used to it- pretending his palms weren’t sweaty, ignoring his racing heart rate, chalking up the absent minded stares to ‘looking out for her’ in his mind, somehow oblivious to the fact he couldn’t keep his eyes off her-

It…was starting to make some real sense

He took a moment to exhale shakily and nodded, face the color of beets. Nahoya shrugged 

“Sooo…ask her out already.”

“WHAT?!?”

He’s panicking at just the thought, rattling off a million and one excuses like ‘She probably already has someone’ and ‘Her friendship is more than enough’

UGH so sweet, so obviously smitten

Only takes a few more days for Nahoya to lose patience & snatch his phone, typing up a message and hovering over ‘send’ devilishly 

“Either you send it or I do - what’s it gonna be?” 

Souya is mortified as he begrudgingly hits ‘send’, burying his hands into his thick hair after dropping his phone to the carpeted floor

“I can’t do this-,”

“Seriously? All you did was send ‘Can we talk’ - quit bein a wuss.”

They start to get into it and almost miss the vibration, both peering down at the screen

‘Sure! Your place or mine?’

He scrambles to get his phone before his twin, barely getting a ‘I’ll come to you!’ in before having his phone stolen again

“Wear something cute~,” Nahoya mouths the text out, pressing send before tossing the phone at his brother 

Doesn’t know  whether to be pissed, scared, or excited at this point- so be settles for a jittery combination of the three

Puts on his cleanest pair of khakis and a semi-formal, sleeved shirt because??? Reasons??? So cute bless him 

She put on just a little bit of makeup, flowy dress stopping mid-thigh, as if this wasn’t difficult enough for the boy

So nervous he’s having trouble standing - but manages to squeak out something -

His face is covered by his shaking hand and his eyes are squeezed shut, his other hand in a death-grip on his trousers

“I’m sorry…? I didn’t quite catch that one, Souya-,”

Blurts it out louder than he meant to this time, backpedaling IMMEDIATELY in an attempt to take it all back

“I- no- what I mean is- ah-,” starts to give up, “You can just…go home now…I already know it’s a long shot. Sorry I wasted your time…”

Refuses to look up

She’s hugging him close in the next moment tho burying her face into his shirt.

“Please don’t make me leave…not before I tell you I like you too.” 

He is SO shocked

Like his legs start to give out

Eventually wraps his shaky arms around her and buries his face in her sweet-smelling hair

They’re there like that for a while 

Neither of them wants to let go but eventually, a text comes through from Nahoya and Souya jumps

“S-sorry,” she waves it off, “I can…walk you up stairs if you’d like? I-I mean if that’s s-something you want!”

She shakes her head and smiles, glancing back at the apartment window

“I’ll be okay from here. Besides, my dad would totally kill me if I brought up a cute boy, or any boy for that matter-,”

His heart starts beating faster if you can believe it - so much so  he almost thinks he’s having a heart attack 

“Well… Goodnight.” She squeezes his hand before reluctantly letting go and waving, practically running back into her apartment building

He’s just…on cloud 9

Total romantic though so eventually he decided that the confession wasn’t nearly enough for this girl

Writes an entire love letter and places it in her locker, finding officially asking her out much easier that way

Before he knows it, she’s racing to embrace him outside the school gates, pulling away just enough to hold his hands gingerly with a laugh

“Honestly, I thought we were official already, but yes a thousand times yes, Souya.” 

His face heats up like it has many times before

So yes absolutely he starts making her lunch for her twice a week - she promises she’ll be just fine without it, he swears he enjoys doing it for her - he really does tho 

Random food based games like ‘Guess the secret ingredient’ after he’s comfortable enough to know she wouldn’t mind it

Grocery shopping dates, because he loves the market

Dates to anime cafes because a) she’s really into anime and b) he finally has a reason to go and try the food there - Nahoya promised he would but he’s far too easily distracted and forgetful 

Also yea, Baji’s sister? Kind of flirty when she’s interested in someone so like she flusters him on accident AND on purpose?

Thank you so much for the reply! :) When you mentioned the moment where Rhett said 'that's his new motto 'I'm not contributing'', I remembered how it sounded like when a couple are at odds about something and they can't help making jabs in public at opportune moments, and people around them are just left feeling awkward ^^; I also think you are right and you are onto something serious about Link and GMM… And I have to say that it's true, then Rhett/crew really dug their own graves on that one, because if Link wants to quit, it's not just because the show doesn't fulfill him artistically, it's also because it doesn't fulfill him emotionally, since he is always the butt of the joke, the loser, and so on. A lot of it falls on to him and his personal issues/communication, but some of it also falls on to the fact that Rhett enables it (to make himself look better by comparison) and on to the crew, because they don't have proper boundaries with them. Sometimes I bulk at the subtle yet palpable ostracization of Link during some episodes, and how he basically feels like he either has to disproportionately apologize to a grovelling degree, or double down and behaves even worse. So it's not that farfetched to think that he might want to remove himself at some point. In recent years, they've also created a lot of other channels, and ventures, so I think besides expanding their business these are also seeds they planted that could maybe one day grow to replace GMM, or to make it possible that they could at least slow down their involvement with it. But I truly believe that if Link was honestly having a good time and felt he was in an environment where people truly respected and appreciated him (which I don't really get from the crew) he'd weather the mundane and the boredom. If he expressed any thoughts of eventually dipping out, Rhett would probably be terrified, not just because of the financial implications, but because I think he is insecure without Link, despite being a bit complicit imo in painting Link as the lesser one, and egging the crew on. But even without their regular presence on GMM, they would continue to do well, given how many pies they have their fingers in, but that's not the same for Stevie, so maybe that's why she is taking it more personally, and at this point R&L are like guest stars in the main show, other people write, plan, and develop the episodes, they are just presenters, so as a producer maybe she feels extra responsible. I also agree with you that it sounds like Link wants to get on an RV and see the world, haha! I could totally picture him do that, and maybe he will do something similar after their youngest kid goes to university... Despite their fame and life in LA, I think they both lived relatively sheltered lives until they exploded on YT, not to mention that they got married and had kids very young, so they had to be responsible early on, and so I could see Link wanting to travel, meet new people, party, and just relive his youth (which is probably an expected midlife compulsion as well). Sometimes I think Link is disappointed by Rhett exactly because he used to idolize him so much, but then Rhett backed down from something pivotal (and I'm right there with you on what that was during the tandem jump era...) and it hurt Link. Rhett is also probably hurt, because Link doesn't always think things through, and doesn't understand that not everyone jumps without thinking and calculating, and he probably feels misunderstood as well. It's the case when two people love each other but ultimately want two different things, so either someone concedes but feels miserable, or he doesn't concede so they have to go on separately. I saw some scenes of this year's GME, and that moment on the couch made me think that Link in his heart of hearts hasn't given up hope, but something tells me that Rhett has decided to let the momentum of the last few years pass them and fizz out and is happy to only revisit it in fiction, like their scripted content...

I am still owing that GME post... You know, when I rant I don't like GME... I mean it hehe. So I will have to push myself a little to examine some data......... more thoroughly before commenting on that part.

A tiny little moment in the latest EB caught my attention. During their irrelevant answer to a random EB question submission, Link said something like: "We have a mantra here, it's a new mantra but it's good. It's 'Don't talk about it'". You bet I found this curious, it could be the mantra smoothening their recent fights. Like, let's not talk about it because it always makes us fight, let's pretend the problem does not exist. IDK

On the other hand, about the GMM atmosphere, I got the impression (and that's over a very little number of the most recent GMM episodes) that Link seems to try to regain his place in the show. He does not try to sabotage himself that hard and Rhett and the crew both seemed more okay in the last episodes. Perhaps they got the cue from the comments that are lately siding with him and Link felt supported? Time will tell because I noticed that only in very few episodes yet.

He’s the kind of friend that is there for you no matter what, you know?

The kind that shows up to your house unannounced just to chill and watch movies, play video games, or even just sit in silence with you. He’s the type to comfort you when you’re upset and need some cheering up, and my god, he gives the best hugs. He always knows how to make me feel better. Always there to hold my hand and give me a kiss on the forehead.

But like it’s totally platonic.

But of course, that doesn’t stop our friends from assuming otherwise.

Mina and Denki are the worst about it. Always saying something suggestive when me and Kiri are doing something completely innocent! We could literally just be cuddling as friends, and they just can’t keep their mouths shut about it. Bakugo honestly doesn’t care all that much. He really couldn’t care less. He does give us a weird glare every now and then., but hey, he’s Bakugo. What else should we expect?

But back to the point- Kiri is great. He’s literally the best. This time is no different from the others. Except for the fact that I got cheated on. And it hurt. A lot. Kiri warned me about the guy I was with, and I swore on everything I wouldn’t get hurt again, but shit happens. I ended up in Kiri’s apartment a lot. He deals sobbing in his bedroom while he holds me and tells me I’ll be alright. He reassures me when I start doubting myself, wondering if I did something wrong.

If it was all my fault.

He grabs me by the chin and turns my head to face him. “y/n, there’s no way you just asked me that.” He gives me a serious look and I shudder a bit, trying to maintain eye contact. “well- what if it was me? What if- what if I just wasn’t enough?” I mutter through tears. He wipes my tears away and kisses my forehead the way he always does. “y/n I promise you, you did nothing wrong. You’re amazing! And if he couldn’t see that then he never deserved you at all. Plus, I told you I had a bad feeling about him from the first date.” He wraps his arms around me tighter and places his head on my shoulder.

“You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re perfect, I promise. I should beat the asshole into next year for making you cry like this.” I giggle and let out a sigh, leaning into him. “I should’ve listened to you. I’m sorry you have to deal with me like this.” And I guess that I said something wrong because in that moment he picks me up, turns me to face him, and puts me on his lap with his hands on my waist. “You know you’re never a burden to me. So don’t act like you are, okay pretty girl?” I give him a soft smile and nod.

Then I look him in the eyes. That’s the moment I realized the position we were in, and the way he was looking at me. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, on the look in his eyes. But it makes me feel safe. It makes me think back on all of the things we’ve been through together and all of the things he’s helped me through.

It makes me realize that the guy I wanted, no- needed, was right here infront of me the whole time.

I feel the heat rush to my cheeks and I place my hands on his chest.

“Kiri I have a question..”

I almost regret saying that.
