literally no one has an excuse to mischaracterise him as a selfish, shallow ditz when this phone call exists

the game makes it very clear that asmo cares about his brothers a lot and that he wants for them to be happy. but because the way he shows it is very asmo, characters as well as players sometimes can’t pick up on it

by that i mean, asmo shows his affection in ways that are influenced by his logic and his way of thinking and i think this call shows it well. of course asmo would liken their situation to a “dinner party” and satan as someone who arrives late; because this is how he can relate to how his brother must be feeling

sadly, unless someone takes the time and effort to try and understand asmo’s thought process and reasoning, it’s easy to disregard him as some naïve drama queen who doesn’t understand the gravity of a given situation

things like painting his brothers’ nails is how asmo shows affection, and while it might seem trivial to others, it’s something that is very important to him, so he makes sure those he cares for are taken care of in the same way; that this very important thing is something they don’t have to worry about

but because of how he carries himself and because the version he presents of himself comes with all these negative connotations, it’s hard for him to be taken seriously; it’s also proof how desperately he tries to convince others -and himself- that this role he plays is the real him and not just a front he puts up

yes, some of the things asmo says can be very shallow, but he cares about the people/demons around him. a lot.

Cardan trying desperately to get salt into Jude when Valerian is shoving the faerie fruit into her mouth is just such a good scene.

like, yes, he takes the vial of salt from her -- but he throws it in the air to sprinkle it all over. I feel like he was almost hoping and praying some would land on her or the fruit or the damn dirt and save her.

and then he takes off his shoe and tells her to kiss his toes. like, he's trying to act like he's degrading her along with everyone else, but he also knows that his sweat has salt in it.

and when that doesn't work and Locke is about to walk her home, Cardan gets desperate enough to do something fairly obvious, risking that his friends and everyone else will see that he's helping her but not being willing to let her go alone with Locke while she's so intoxicated. So he pricks her finger and pokes it into her mouth so she gets the salt from her blood.

I feel like he does this partially because of his growing feelings for her, but also because at this point he has already decided he really doesn't like how humans are treated, has seen the way they look when they're ensorcelled and has already helped some of them escape faerie.

he's just so great okay?!

I think Shiro is bad at cooking in a “overcooks everything out of paranoia about raw food and giving someone food poisoning” combined with “I’m busy and need food cooked fast so we’re putting the stove burner on 7 instead of 5” way so everything he makes is a little charred and a little tough and dry and over cooked and he’ll eat it but no one wants him cooking for them ever. I think he does better when recipes have very specific descriptors of how you know it’s done. “Turn off when bubbles form” type things. He’s okay at baking when it has specific directions, or when it’s “when a toothpick comes out clean” but if it’s “golden brown around edges” he will second guess if it’s golden brown or not and burn the cookies. I think he loves appliances like instapot or rice cookers where you dump ingredients in and push settings and it comes out done. Don’t make him make decisions about if food is done he will overthink it and err on the side of caution and burn it.

What authors/books/fics have inspired you in your writing?

when i first started fic writing i didn't really have much inspiration other than seeing prompts and working the story (i saw in my mind) to fit certain characters. sometimes i would have a certain image in my head that i wanna recreate so i take that into account as well.

it was only this year that i started reading more frequently and while i really couldn't point to a certain author and dub them my inspiration, i would say that i've really taken to the flowery and more emotional way of writing i guess you could call it? i've read more books with 1st pov and although that's not the kind of pov prefer (3rd pov 🔛🔝) idk it's really grown on me.

i think the shifts really clear if you went from one of my first fics to a recent one lol

me and tropes are like best friends. i'm always catering to a new trope. and if not a new one i'm reworking the trope into something More. fics are also fun bc i love reading and picking up on people's styles bc there's always something you can improve on!
