🤡✍🤲 for fanfic writer emoji asks! :3
🤡 What's a line, scene or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
I was laughing my ass off writing all of Abort Mission!, so it'd definitely be a line from that holy-unholy crackfic. Hmmm. Ok I've tried to look for a sfw line I could use for this and only found one. wow i never thought that would happen with an abortion crackfic
The single sfw line in question:
Hinata Aoi punched a hole through the wall like the white boy Kyle kinnie he is.
✍️ Do you have a beta reader?
I beta read my own stuff. If that doesn't count, then no. Sometimes I feel like I should have one of my friends beta, but sometimes I feel like it's best if I work on it myself with nobody else unless really needed.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a WIP?
OK I HAVEN'T WRITTEN IN AGES AND THE ONLY DECENT WIP I HAVE IS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR ARRAX SO LIKE. I CAN'T USE THAT SO I WAS WORRIED THAT I COULDN'T DO THIS BUT THEN I DID END UP HAVING SOMETHING DECENT THANK GOD...
For a man that was nearly two meters tall and as beefy as they came, Joseph felt very small. The baby, swaddled in soft blankets, was just a little bit larger than his hands. She fit almost perfectly into them. She was his daughter. His.
"...You haven't come up with a name, have you?" It felt like time had stopped. Joseph hadn't quite catched up with it all.

Psst, hear me out: The Beast being fucking yanderes with the ancients.
You Get It™️ I mean... Did you guys see episode 6? Burning Simp Cookie is already a yandere lol. He's been there and he refuses to leave. And Shadow Milk is honestly not that far behind, he feels some type of way towards Pure Vanilla and it would be cute if it wasn't so sad and creepy lol
Really though, I just love hero/villain ships in general (always have, since long before Cookie Run ever existed) and I get a kick out of villains acting stupid over crushes (read: obsessions), and acting stupid in general. There's just something about a villain being in love with the hero to a psychotic, comical degree, and the hero rebuffing them at every turn that's just really amusing to me lol. Like what Joker sort of has with Batman, you know?
Here are my Yandere Beasts in bare-bones terms:
Burning Spice: come on, if you've read my stuff, you know EXACTLY what Yandere Spice is like lol. If not, I'll refer you to this and this, as well as my fics on AO3. If those don't tell you what Yandere Spice is like then idk how else to help you lol
Shadow Milk: if the final boss of theater/drama kids had a crush but was also a malignant narcissist of some sort lol. Absolutely DESPERATE for Vanilla's attention at all times. If he's not actively trying to worm into Vanilla's brain and harass him in his thoughts and dreams, he's in the real world brainstorming better ways to do that lol. He does not grasp why the creepy puppet shows and gaslighting attempts aren't convincing Vanilla to fall in love with him. Will attack and torment and insult Vani in one breath and then praise and love and worship him in another, because he's a histrionic clown freak with whirlwind emotions. But above all else, he literally thinks he owns Vani and is meticulously plotting the horrible and hilarious demise of any and all he perceives as a threat to their union
Eternal Sugar: World's Laziest Stalker™️. Almost exclusively haunts Holly in her dreams (I have to assume that that's what her power will entail, as the Beast of Sloth); however, she's more "effective" in her wooing attempts due to her past experience as the Herald of Happiness. She actually goes out of her way to construct dreams and the like that have things in them that make Holly happy (or what she thinks makes Holly happy; she, as well as the others, has big tunnel vision and is very selfish and self-absorbed, and thus pays more lip service to her own wants than those of who she loves/obsesses over). Thankfully doesn't run into Holly in person often because that's work... but sometimes she DOES work up the nerve to go after her for real, and... well
Mystic Flour: Denial, denial, denial. Not just a river in Egypt the Golden Cheese Kingdom, but she'll say and act like otherwise. No, she does not like Dark Cacao. He robbed her of her volition and the chance to enact her will. He prevented her from freeing the world from pain and suffering. He is a stubborn fool who refuses to understand the truth. He... is very handsome. She does not like how handsome he is. It is distracting. She doesn't like dwelling on her memories of him and their encounters. She doesn't like how she came to harbor a single kernel of respect in her heart after he stood his ground against her; a kernel that she inadvertently nurtured and cultivated slowly but surely, until... no. No, she doesn't like Dark Cacao. She doesn't think about him all day. She doesn't want to try to lure him back to her land so she can trap him in the flour fog with her again. She doesn't miss feeling his dark eyes on her. She doesn't deeply resent his attachment to his people, and seek to transfer that attachment to her instead. No, she... damn it, he's ruined her. He's made her feel things again. He's made her succumb to selfishness and greed, to earthly desire and attachment - desire for HIM, attachment to HIM. All of her hard work and enlightenment gone to waste... She doesn't want to like Dark Cacao, she recognizes the folly in such a thing, but she's stuck - and so stuck is she that not only does she not really see a way out, she doesn't WANT one. She's become too content with her attachment to him too quickly. Now she has to agonize over her own foolishness, and try to keep denying that she doesn't care while also longing for his attention and wanting to do away with all that steals his attention away from her
Silent Salt: probably the least awful of the five, but he's still creepy and that's not a high bar to clear anyway lol. Has a better grasp on "normal" behavior than the others (like... he pays attention to what White Lily likes/wants and tries to adjust accordingly), but he's following her around everywhere and acting extremely violent and territorial over her towards anyone who he catches approaching her. He's legitimately, surprisingly sweet and gentle towards her; he brings her flowers, he listens to her when she asks/tells him something, he's more or less respectful of her personal space (he will try to be as physically close to her as possible, but actually backs off a little if she asks him to, only to try again, and so on and so forth)... but he's still a villain, he's still violent and creepy, he still gets angry when she pays attention to other people for too long and he has brought actual harm to others out of jealousy. He's the best of the worst but that really doesn't mean much of anything, he's still a psycho creep like the others
In short, they form a tight-knit coalition of absolutely fucking deranged freakazoids and they should all probably die :)

Sun-Kissed
Ted’s pool party turned out to be a lot more fun than you thought it would be…👀
Warnings: Joe looking like a beach babe, emphasize the BABE; smut; fingering if you squint; that freaking chain; etc.
Also this is like probs my first official time writing smut so hopefully it doesn’t bore you or make you cringe, if it does, I am so sorry :*)
Also, thanks to @balanceingrace for the encouragement❤️
Part Two is Here!
You and Joe arrive at Ted’s house for the pool party he was having for Memorial Day weekend. A lot of Joe’s teammates and their girlfriends and wives were going to be there as well, so you talked Joe into going so he could be social for once.
You sit down in-between Joe Bachie’s girlfriend, Holly and Sam’s girlfriend, Jess on the edge of the pool along with a couple of the other girls.
“That hair driving Joe nuts yet?” Holly asks and you giggle.
“Not yet anyway. He does mess with it constantly but I honestly think he likes it. We’ll see how he feels about it in July and August when its borderline 100 degrees during practice” you give her a smug look and she laughs.
“What do you think about it?” Jess smirks.
“I like it. It’s different. We were together for almost a year when he grew it out super long the first time and I didn’t mind it then but I’m curious to see what he’d look like with it now. That man has aged like fine wine so I’m excited to see some flow” you bite your lip and the girls giggle.
“You talkin’ shit?” Joe asks from behind you, standing over you.
“About you? Of course” you smile back at him and he just shakes his head as he hands you a cold bottle of water.
When you looks back at your man, you couldn’t help but let your eyes wander.
Joe had come back from playing basketball with some of the guys, his button up shirt all the way unbuttoned, showing his tan, sweaty, toned chest and torso. His chest being your weakness. His hair that has gotten longer over the past couple months and you were becoming feral over this new style he was trying. His hair was more blonde than usual, all thanks to the sun. The dirty blonde becoming low lights while the blonde really shown through. His Cartier sunglasses sitting nicely on his nose and cheekbones along with his chain around his neck that glittered in the sun, the rays bring out the jewels perfectly. Good God, you thought, if he just bent me over right now-.
“Damn, when did you turn into a slut?” You dip down your sunglasses at him, trying to joke with him instead of pouncing on him like a freaking tiger.
“A long time ago. When I started dating you” he dips his sunglasses down, copying you and shooting you a wink, which just made you even more hot. He’s such a jerk.
“Jesus” you mutter under your breath. This was too much stimulation for you, and you was afraid that if you looked at him any longer that you would
1) do or say something that no one else around should experience in public or 2) melt; which you were already doing.
“Well you need to quit because all of your ‘girlies’ can’t handle all of this” you motions to the heavenly being that was him. You couldn’t even handle all of that.
“Oh this is just for you, pretty girl. No one else to impress but you” he looks smugly at you, that famous smirk making its way onto his perfect lips.
And…it was done. That did you in.
You turn back around, facing the pool. You look over at Holly who knew what you were thinking.
“I’ll cover for you, get ya some” she smirks and nods her head towards the house.
“Thank you” you whisper to her before climbing out of the pool and facing back towards Joe. He chuckles lowly and you place your hand on his lower back, turning him around and pushing him nonchalantly into the house.
“Something wrong?” Joe asks you sarcastically, knowing the effect he has on you. Knowing your weaknesses that easily make you all hot and bothered for him.
You push him down the hallway and into the guest room and shutting the door behind you, locking it without even looking, just watching your man stare at you with eyes that were once bright blue, now dark as the depths of the ocean. And you were about to go for a dive.
“You” you tell him plainly. You make your way toward him, your hands finding their way to his bare, broad chest and your eyes looking up at him through your lashes.
“You are what’s wrong…but so right” you whisper.
In seconds, his strong hands grab your cheeks and his lips are on yours. Hard, unyielding, but loving and passionate. He couldn’t get enough of you and that damn berry chapstick you wore all the time. Your lips have never tasted any different.
His hands slide into your hair, gripping onto your long locks, slightly tugging which makes you moan against his mouth, causing his lips to curve up into a small smile.
Joe wasn’t one for PDA, but you get him in a room by yourselves, he was on you in less than a minute. Believe it or not, the man was handsy. But you didn’t mind the feeling of his strong, veiny hands on you, touching you, holding you. It was ecstasy.
His hands grip your hips as yours slide up his chest, to his shoulders, around his neck and into his dirty blonde hair that was now longer, easier to pull. He moans against your lips, spinning you around and letting you fall against the mattress, him going to pull his shirt off but you stop him.
“No. You better leave that on or so help me god-“
“Okay then” he chuckles, “can I take my shorts off or do I have to leave those on too?”
“Off, smart ass” you roll your eyes as you reach for his shorts, unbuttoning them and shoving them down his legs.
“These too?” He asks smugly, snapping the band of his boxer briefs against this skin.
“Joseph, I swear to god-“
“Okay, I’m done” he laughs, leaning down to reattach his lips to yours.
He quickly rids himself of his underwear, also quickly pulling your shorts and your blue bikini bottoms down all in one go and throwing them on the floor. He reaches behind your neck, his fingers sending chills down your spine as he pulls one the strings to your top loose, causing the tie to come undone.
He kisses down your neck, latching onto the place under your ear that makes you weak. He’s careful to not leave a mark, knowing you’d have his ass for having to walk back out to his teammates and their girls with a bright purple and red mark on your neck.
He makes his way down the column of your neck, you becoming a moaning mess, wanting him to be inside you already. He eventually arrives to your chest where he grabs onto the cloth of your matching blue bikini top with his teeth and pulling it down to expose your “perfect” breasts; his words.
“I’m obsessed with you” he says lowly, looking up at you through those blonde lashes and instantly latches onto your right nipple.
“Mmm” you moan, holding onto the back of his head, your fingers tangling into his hair as he swirls his incredible tongue around the bud.
He knew the other one was getting jealous so he moved over to your left breast, giving it the same amount of attention as the right. Joe was neither a boob or a butt guy; he was both. If he had to choose between your boobs or your butt, he would surely die.
Joe pulls away from your chest and looks into your eyes. He takes his index and middle finger and brings it to his mouth, licking them and bring them down to your core. You gasp as they brush your clit, him slowly circling it just to get you more worked up than you already were.
He drags them down to your entrance, teasing you as he feels the mess you’ve already made of yourself.
“Just wanted to make sure you were ready for me” he smirks.
“Always ready for you” you whine as he pulls his fingers away and brings them back up to his mouth, sucking your juices off of them.
“I know” he smiles.
He spits into his hand and brings it down to his dick who was also always ready for you.
You reach down and wrap your hand around him, slowly pumping him.
“O-oh shit” he groans, dropping his head to your shoulder.
You pick up the pace, a bead of precum appearing on his tip, he was starting to become a moaning mess. You take your thumb and slide it over his tip and let go of him to bring your thumb to your mouth. Slipping it into your mouth, you swirl around it, tasting him to which he watches you intently.
“I need to feel you, now” he says, his voice low and raspy. He lines himself up with your entrance before slowly, almost painfully pushing himself in.
“God” you moan out, your breath hitching in your throat as he hit your cervix. You’ll never get used to him, it’s always a pleasant surprise.
“You feel insane, baby” he groans, his head dipping down to your shoulder, pressing a kiss to your collarbone. Your hands still in his hair, obsessed with gripping onto and pulling on his now longer blonde curls.
He pulls out and pushes all the way back in again, your eyes rolling to the back of your head. Joe starts to pick up the pace, the sound of skin smacking skin making the experience oh-so-much better and intense.
“Look at me” he breathes out, his face hovering over yours, that chain gently hitting your chin as he continues to thrust into you. Oh, that could make you come undone right then and there. God bless that freaking chain.
“You are so pretty, Jesus-“ he hisses, starting to fully pound into you, repeatedly hitting that soft spot inside of you, making your eyes roll back once again.
“Joe, I’m gonna-“ your eyes screwing shut as your hands go under the back of his shirt, gripping onto his muscular back.
“Let go, baby, let go” he grunts, his dick spasming against your walls as they clinch around him. He brings his lips back down to yours as you come undone, whimpering into his mouth as he continues to thrust into you, the oversensitivity starting to kick in.
With a couple more sporadic thrusts, moaning your name against your lips, he lets go, coating your walls.
He pulls out of you gently, both of you whimpering at the sensitive feeling. He lies down next to you, both of you trying to catch your breath.
“So the unbuttoned shirt is officially approved?” Joe asks, looking over at you and you giggle.
“10 stamps of approval” you smile at him and he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Cool” he smiles back at you before leaning over to you and pressing a sweet kiss to your lips.
“We should probably go back out there before they start to get suspicious” Joe sits up and pulls his underwear and shorts up his long legs and sets your bikini bottoms and shorts on the bed next to you.
“Joe, they’re not stupid, they know damn well what we came in here to do” you scoff and he laughs.
“Well, I’m going to blame it on you if they ask” He helps you stand up.
“Go right ahead and see what happens, you jerk” you narrow your eyes at him as you tie your bikini top strings back.
“Go pee. You can threaten me later, pretty girl” he winks and gives your ass a healthy smack as you make your way to the bathroom.
“It’s not threatening, it’s promising, JB” you tell him, patting his chest.
“Also,” you stop in the doorway, “you should wear that all of the time”
You smirk at him as he smiles at you.
“Oh I will wear it everyday if I get the exact same reaction I did today” he nods.
“Good” you wink and shut the door behind you.
After getting yourself cleaned up and fixing your sex hair, you walk back outside to where Joe was already sitting with the guys, chatting away.
You walk over to Joe and sit yourself on his thick thighs, your favorite seat to sit on, other than his face. Joe presses a kiss to the back of your shoulder, once again, sending a chill down your back. You shoot him a loaded look over your shoulder and he smiles up at you, those blue eyes glistening behind his sunglasses.
“Love you” he mouths to you and you blush.
“Love you” you mouth back and turn your attention back to the guys.
One of these days, he will be the death you. But hey, that would be a great way to go out.

we don't talk about it (we don't have the time)
﹂ season one of “come home”
being dustin henderson's older sister and jonathan byers' best friend is usually an uneventful affair, but when will byers goes missing and a girl with a shaved head claims she has super powers, your duties as a sister and a best friend become a lot more complicated. (it also makes your feelings suddenly complicated, which you're choosing to ignore). (and steve harrington definitely isn't helping). (as usual).
episode one: the vanishing of will byers - jonathan smuggles you free food in exchange for friendship, will goes missing the one time you listen to jonathan, hopper doesn't really like you, and steve harrington almost hits you with his car as you're sobbing like a damn baby (in a cool way).
episode two: the weirdo on maple street - you use your limited psych knowledge to help a bald girl, you force jonathan to accept $20 and he's later an ass to you, steve doesn't know what a "missing" poster looks like, and it's really hard being a single mother to now four kids.
episode three: holly, jolly - you and jonathan talk it out and things are better (spoiler alert: they aren't), you somehow end up agreeing with steve harrington ?? then you have a minor breakdown in front of the kids and once again fail to prevent them from experiencing more trauma.
episode four: the body - you basically have a "no babe don't cry over ur dead brother ur so sexy" moment with jonathan, hopper plays mr love doctor (cute date idea: coffin shopping), and somehow nancy wheeler makes you realize that you're a horrible babysitter and an even bigger idiot. meanwhile: steve harrington is frustratingly charming.
episode five: the flea and the acrobat - you and dustin have a long overdue Sibling Moment, at will's funeral you and jonathan exchange information and surprise ! it's all horrible news ! nancy has awful timing and when you leave her alone with jonathan one damn time you and steve end up trauma bonded on her front porch #bffs.
episode six: the monster - so nancy and jonathan are a Thing now and you really just need a good nap, the three of you go shopping for monster hunting supplies (which honestly isn't the weirdest thing you've done this week), an old man sells you a sentimental knife, and steve kind of accidentally kidnaps you with a sexy black eye.
episode seven: the bathtub - your brother basically places himself on the fbi's most wanted list and el flips a van with her mind, now you have to create a giant salt tub because of course you do, nancy tries Talking About It but hasn't she read the title ? you don't have the time. sidenote: you've somehow become a steve defender during these trying times. typical. meanwhile: steve's inner thoughts are pathetic.
episode eight: the upside down - drinking game time ! take a shot every time jonathan tries ditching you or every time you almost die at the byers house, you find out that steve really is an athlete and tbh it's hot, but you know what's even hotter ? saving hawkins and reaching a tentative compromise with steve after he loans you $5 for snacks. after, jonathan makes a promise you really hope he can keep.
⌑ set between seasons 1 and 2
﹂ episode nine: the beginning - BONUS EPISODE TIME ! steve becomes bookstrorindary's favorite loyal costumer, jonathan buys you a bug for christmas, you freak out your poor coworker alex, and suddenly steve is really hot and you're feeling so many feelings (bad ! it's all bad !).
⌑ status: FINISHED
⌑ season one title based on this song x
⌑ blurbs set within "come home" can be found here x

Day 4 of Halloween steddie!!! :D who’s having fun? I am!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Steve’s arms felt like they were going to fall off. The kids told him to bring extra pillowcases, so he did, figuring that someone probably didn’t have extras or forgot one or something. To his shock and horror, he quickly found out that he was going to have to carry the extra weight of two half full pillowcases of Halloween candy.
The kids ditched him and were a good couple of houses ahead of where he was dragging his feet, both bags slung over his shoulders to give his arms a break. His fingers cramped as he squeezed, the fabric making indents in his hands as gravity worked against him.
Just another hour of pure bliss and fun! He closed his eyes, letting his feet take him forward, each step he took, leading him toward the seemingly never ending path of houses. Next year I’m making Mike bring Holly’s wagon.
He let out a sigh as his eyes opened, squinting as he heard faint and distant “Steve!” His heart beat raced as he realized these were not calls of joy, but more of desperation. He quickly rearranged the bags of candy, grabbing them in two fists as he quickly jogged towards the sounds of his name.
He saw his group of kids standing just ahead as he got closer, his eyes did a mental head count and realized that he came up one kid short.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” He said to himself as his pace slowed, holding the bags of candy out to Dustin and max. “Here. What’s wrong.” He said slightly panting, his breath fogging up as it hit the cold air.
“Will’s missing.” Dustin said quickly, his eyes full of worry.
“We can’t find him.” Max said, looking to Lucas for comfort.
“He was right behind us and then-“ Mike said, in a full blown panic.
“Okay okay. Calm down, it’s alright.” Steve reassured the distressed kids. Looking around as he thought of what to do. They don’t teach you this in school. He thought returning his attention to the group.
“When did you last see him grabbing candy?” Steve asked hands habitually finding his hips, his eyes locked into mikes, as he spoke.
“Like literally two seconds ago… we were all at that house-“ he points to the house across the street, “and then we came over here to do the next one, and we noticed he was just gone.” Mike looked like he was going to cry, and it broke Steve’s heart.
“Listen, nothing bad is happening, he probably just got mixed up.” Steve said, looking around for will. He’s a shy, quiet and reserved kid he’s not going to just go off on his own. The kids like a baby deer.
Steve thought as he held his hands out, pumping them out, palms down, saying a stern. “Stay here. I’ll go look around for him, okay?” He turned towards the house they last saw will, it was on the corner of another street. He turned back around walking in a side step as he starred daggers into the kids, yelling out a more stern, “stay. There. I’m serious.”
He tried to focus on finding will, but the screams and loud laughs from trick or treaters stole his attention. The whole incident making his internal voice scream at him. You were supposed to watch them. It’s your fault he’s missing.
He shook his head and passed another house, now down the road from where he left the kids. His eyes searched down the street, and looked for wills costume, he was wearing a red hoodie and jeans; he was Elliot from E.T. It was a fitting costume and Steve liked it better than most of the costumes he saw that night.
Time was passing as Steve looked and looked, each house feeling like a never ending maze of new decorations and noise to distract him from finding will.
Then he heard it. The giggle. Wills innocent, sweet giggle, making Steve look around frantically. That’s when he spotted him, walking down the road with a familiar face, looking like nothing was wrong.
Steve quickly moved his feet, practically running. He quickly noticed he was with Eddie Munson, the towns freak, he was relatively nice but he had a volume issue, which Steve was grateful for right now. His voice careying over the suburban neighborhood, “you’re a pretty smart kid, you know that Byers?”
Steve’s mind spun with the new emotions, eyes wide with relief and desperation. “You.” He said, as he got in ear distance. “You had everyone worried sick.” He called out, not being able to hold back, the words erupting from his throat. Steve never thought about having kids, that was until these last two years when he got closer with his kids. That’s when he realized, they bring as much joy as they do panic and stress.
He came to a stop just in front of them, eyes snapping to Eddie. “And you-“ Steve pointed at Eddie, “What are you doing here?”
Will looked confused as he gave Steve slight attitude, “it’s not my fault everyone else kept walking when i stopped.” His pubescent voice made him sound all nasally.
“Alright, Will.” Steve said his voice lower and less harsh, swallowing down his need to be the kids second mother as he looked to Eddie again. “And what’s your excuse?” He asked, pulling Will into his side as Eddie shoved his hands into his pockets. “I was over at Gareth’s house. The band thought it would be good to pass out candy to the kids. It is the best day of the year Harrington.” Eddie gave him a sweet smile, full of good intentions.
Steve looked to will to confirm, which he nodded, his big eyes looked like a sad little puppy. Steve sighed and looked back up at Eddie. “Well thanks for watching over him..” Steve looked back to will, giving him a concerning look, telling him now, “your friends are pretty shook up from you hanging back.”
Will looked down and nodded. Steve felt like he just got punched, and instantly regretted saying anything about it at all. “It’s alright, no problem. Let’s just get back before Mike calls hopper.” Steve patted his back lightly as he watched his face change with the thoughts.
Will smiles at the ground and nods again, looking up to Eddie and giving him a small wave. Steve followed his lead and smiled at Eddie, “thanks, again.” Which Eddie returned the smile, and said a polite, “anytime, Steve.” This was the first time that he’d ever referred to him as just his first name. It felt nice, definitely better than his usual passive nicknames.
Eddie held his hand out for a high five as Will lit up, giving him a down low and looked to back to steve for further instructions.
“alright give me that.” Steve said grabbing the pillow case full of candy from Will. “Holy crap, it weighs more than you.” He said in full seriousness. No, seriously, what are these parents passing out this year. Shit. He turned with will, and started the walk back to the group, turning around to see Eddie still standing there watching the two walk off.
Steve giving him another wave over his shoulder, and a grateful smile, returning his attention back to Will. “Let’s hope the rest of the little shits are still waiting where I told them too.” Will let out a small laugh, and a quiet “yeah.”
Steve thought back to how Eddie was going to walk Will back to the group, his kindness showing through the tough facade he put out. Steve felt his face get warm as he realized, that Eddie was someone he think he might actually enjoy being around. Maybe I judged him too soon.
Maybe I should actually get to know Eddie Munson before I make assumptions. Steve smiled as he walked next to Will, the idea of making a new friend, just because he felt like it, swimming around in his head. “You know, you can learn something from this.” Steve said, as the distance between them and the group got smaller. “Really?” Will asked, genuinely curious as to what Steve meant.
“I mean- I know I have.” Steve said, swinging wills pillow case of candy at his side. “I learned, never judge someone you don’t really know, turns out they might just surprise you.”
Will nodded and looked up, “what lesson should i have learned?” He asked, eyes wide and full of curiosity. “To never change.” Steve said, reaching over and pulling him close, “look, there’s the group.” Steve said, giving Will a small nudge, as the kids shouted his name out. Steve watched as they all broke into big smiles, unable to contain the relief and excitement. Breaking the peaceful moment with loud noise and laughter, everyone talking over each other.
Steve watched as they started the journey back to mikes, everyone sharing their story on what happened, and Dustin turned around, passing Steve the two sacks of candy. “Here.” He said, shoving them into Steve’s arms.
Oh yeah, next year I’m bringing a wagon… and maybe some leashes.
DMC boys reaction to haveing a s/o that has cooking mannerisms like dylan Hollis (since Dante is teetering being broke half the time)
https://youtu.be/Dp4DC-QPDKc?si=9y9Dh-VYrznYaFYH
Some of my favorite comments
Are you still here? *Opens oven* damn it
WHOS MOOING NOW!!
*something falls over* I think I summoned something
*turns on burner* FIYA!!!
Sparda boys + V x Reader with weird cooking mannerisms headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante thinks you're hilarious.
-Every time you open the oven or turn on the stove, you have to make some explosive comment, and it's just so entertaining to watch.
-You match his energy, and if there's anything Dante loves, it's someone matching his energy.
-He sometimes joins you in the kitchen, tossing things around, screaming at the food, etc.
-You guys have so much fun goofing around in the kitchen--just make sure you don't burn the food.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil thinks you're exhausting.
-Every time you set out to make a meal, you're making goofy comments and shouting gibberish, which really disturbs Vergil's sense of peace.
-At least he knows whenever dinner's about to be ready based on your rambling.
-Eventually, he warms up to your silliness because it reminds him of Dante, but even then, he still finds you rather annoying.
-Dreads the day all the Spardas come over for dinner because he knows Dante and Nero will enjoy helping you in the kitchen.
□ Nero □
-Nero was surprised when he was first exposed to you.
-He genuinely thought you summoned a demon in the kitchen the first time you said you did.
-After a little while, he realized you're freaking hilarious, and now he loves to watch you cook.
-He'll help you too, of course, but he's mostly here for your energy.
-You really cheer him up, especially after a long day of devil hunting.
● V ●
-V finds you remarkably entertaining.
-He expected you to cook normally, but no, you're basically a comedian in the kitchen.
-Loves watching you and your silly commentary, and will help you out, if needed.
-Admittedly, he isn't the greatest at cooking thanks to his faltering physical state, but he's not bad!
-You guys end up bonding a lot in the kitchen--it's now one of your favorite activities.
Stuck Between a Jock and a Metalhead
Summary: Nancy, on a whim, decides to visit Steve at Scoops Ahoy, which leads to her overhearing confessions from Steve that leads her to think about the decisions she's made. A few days later, she decides to come back. She finds him being hit on by the town freak. What's a girl to do? Oh, get stuck in a freezer with the both of them.
A/N: Oops, I made this chapter a little angsty. I do love Nancy now, flaws and all. Oh, the title is a play on for stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thought it was funny.
Chapter One
Nancy Wheeler was confident in her decisions, to say the least. She never really doubted when she was in the right. It was a constant struggle, though, to look at someone's else's side of things. It was why she loved looking at the facts, put plain and simply before her. The facts are that she was interning at the local newspaper and that the news reporters seemed to hate women or look down on them at least. They surely didn't respect them.
"I mean, like what year are we in now? There are tons of female news reporters. Get ahead of the times!" Nancy complained.
"Well, there's a reason why people call this town so conservative. Will this town ever be willing to change?" Steve asked, shaking an invisible magic eight ball. "Sources say: unlikely. I mean, now, they really won't be subject to change with the way this mall moved in and took away their businesses."
"The same mall you work at?" Nancy asked in amusement. "By the way, what the hell are you wearing?"
"I can't believe you're just now noticing. This is my uniform," Steve said and flipped the hat back onto his head.
Nancy had stopped by Scoops Ahoy after coming into the mall to try to find Holly a birthday gift. She had spotted Steve behind the counter and had to stop in. Now, here they were, in the back room conversing like old friends. Steve stood up from the table and slowly twirled around before striking a pose. His back was to her, and he peered over his shoulder, his hand over his mouth as though he was shocked. His rear end was sticking out. He looked like he got caught doing something he shouldn't. Nancy burst into a fit of giggles.
"You're an idiot, Steve Harrington," Nancy said softly.
"And you're - uh - anyway, yes, this is my uniform. It's completely fucking embarrassing but not as embarrassing as being too stupid to get into anywhere," Steve said.
"Despite what I said before, you're not stupid. Although, you can be an idiot at times. It's not who you are, and if your dad ever makes you feel like that, then just send him my way. I'll kick his ass," Nancy said.
"You're the only person in the world I believe could actually take that asshole," Steve said.
"Thanks. I should probably go. I told mom I would be home soon," Nancy said, getting up.
"One thing first, and I'm not sure it was my place to say, but this job of yours. . .you're not getting paid, your skills aren't being put to good use, you have to ask what else am I getting out of this? What else am I learning?" Steve asked.
"Well, I'm learning what not to do," she said, and he laughed.
"You know, it's okay to give up something that's not working for you, and it's okay to fight for it. Whatever decision that works best for you, Nancy, it's okay," Steve said.
"Stop saying okay. I hate that word," Nancy said softly.
It made her stomach turn the way he said it softly, reminding her of the way he said it that night he told her to go with Jonathan. A small portion of guilt nestled in her stomach. She shook it away and smiled.
"It was good to see you again, Steve," Nancy said. "We should talk again soon."
"Definitely," Steve grinned. "Did I help at all?"
"Yeah, actually, you did," Nancy said.
As she walked out of the break room, she passed Steve’s co-worker Robin. She gave Nancy the stink eye. She wondered if it was because she thought there was something between her and Steve. Was Robin jealous of her? Did she want to date Steve? Or was she dating Steve? God, Nancy hoped not. She blushed, realizing that she had no right to be jealous of someone she didn't have any interest in anymore. . .or did she? Nancy walked briskly away, moving out of the parlor and towards the exit as quickly as possible. Halfway towards the exit, Nancy realized that she had left her purse. When she walked back in, there was a closed for lunch sign out front. She went in and headed towards the break room. She paused by the door when she heard her name.
"You're friends with your ex?" Robin asked. "That's a little. . . Unusual."
"I take what I can get," Steve said.
"What does that mean?" She asked and paused. "What? Are you still in love with her?"
Nancy sucked in a breath and waited hopefully for the right answer.
"I mean, I don't know. I guess so. How does one fully stop loving Nancy Wheeler?" Steve asked. "I just want her to be happy. If Jonathan makes her happy, then I'm happy, too."
"It doesn't kill you inside every time you hang out to see her with another guy?" Robin asked.
"Well, this is the first time we hung out in a while. After it all. . .ended, Nancy invited me to have lunch with her Jonathan, but I couldn't. . .it was too painful. I spent lunch in my car blasting Careless Whisper and crying. I got my heart broken, and I didn't have any friends. I mean, the friends I had I walked away from. They were assholes, yes, but I knew Tommy all of my life, and he wasn't always like that. My parents were never home, still aren't, and I just had no one. The kids I started to babysit helped a lot, but considering they were kids and one of them was Nancy's brother, I couldn't exactly talk to them about this," Steve said. "Before we broke up, I tried everything to befriend Jonathan because I knew how much he meant to Nancy. I guess I just didn't want to admit how much."
Nancy pressed her hand to her mouth, tears filling her eyes as she tried to muffle her sobs. She didn't know anything about all of that or the fact that Steve tried to make friends with Jonathan.
"You didn't want to lose her. The fact that you tried to befriend him says a lot about you," Robin said. "I wouldn't have been able to do that."
"I can't hate her for making the choice that she did. I was never enough to be it for her, but I respect her choice even if I don't like it. I can't force her - " Steve choked up. "I can't force her to love me."
"So pathetic," Robin said softly with a hint of affection and Steve laughed.
"Definitely pathetic," Steve said and paused. "I miss her so much that it's stupid. I just wish that I could move on. I think I'm trying too hard. I guess I can't force that either."
"I think I can help with that," Robin said in a mischievous voice. "It requires me taking over the whiteboard, though. What are your preferences?"
"Men, women," Steve said.
"I meant like how do you want me to tease you mercilessly while I do this, but that is. . . That is good to know," Robin said. "Um, right, thanks for telling me."
Crying softly, Nancy quietly and quickly walked away. She'd get her purse some other time. She ran all the way to the bathroom and locked herself in a stall. What he had said then was something she always suspected about Steve, but she never asked, never wanted to be pushy about that part of his life in case he wasn't aware, but turns out, he was. It was all the other stuff that was overwhelming her. She couldn't stop picturing Steve alone in his car, crying. She had so wanted to believe that he had been fine, that he wouldn't be affected by what happened. Or maybe she just hoped that he wouldn't care because it was easier to escape the fact that she fucked up. She didn't intend to hurt Steve, but she did it anyway, and maybe there was another reason why she didn't want to think about how he felt or that moment at the school. She didn't want to think about him walking away from her after begging her to tell him that she loved him. She didn't want to think about him telling her it was okay or hearing him call himself a shitty boyfriend. It was easier to ignore all of that than to admit that she didn't feel like she deserved him.
Jonathan doesn't deserve for her to think that way either because her relationship with him means something, doesn't it? Everything happened so quickly. Maybe that was why she wanted it to happen so fast. Why she had acted the way she did with her feelings for Jonathan? She wanted to destroy her relationship with Steve, to make him hate her the way she hated herself, and she wanted him to feel guilty the way that she did with Barb. She was so mad at her before she died. Why couldn't Barb have understood that it was her choice to have sex with Steve? That the moment he talked to her, it was decided, and the very moment his lips touched hers. She bought a new bra, bought a new sweater, and she even lied to her mom about why she needed birth control.
"This isn't you, Nance," Barb had said.
"Why couldn't you have just gone home?" Nancy whispered to the empty bathroom.
The real person she wanted to be angry with was Barb, and how grotesque was that? How could she be angry at Barb for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? No, because if Barb had gone home and just let her make her choice, then Barb would still be alive. Nancy's stomach rolled. That's what Steve represented, not his guilt because he did nothing, but her own for being so angry with Barb before she died and for being angry after. The real person to be angry with, she knew, was Dr. Brenner. He was the man who started all of this, who led Barbara to her death. If she could bring him back and kill him again, she'd kill him a thousand times. She couldn't go down that road again. She knew the risks she took when she sought justice for Barb. She risked the whole damn town to do it. She wasn't sure she could put something like on Steve again because she still loved him, and he deserved better than that. Nancy wiped her face and came out of the bathroom to find Robin leaning against the wall. She was holding her purse.
"You left this. I saw you run in here. Damn, you're fast," Robin said and handed her the purse.
"Thanks," Nancy said, taking the purse and Robin narrowed her eyes at her.
"You came back for the purse. You heard us," Robin said, and Nancy didn't say anything. "You still love him."
"He deserves better," Nancy said.
"Doesn't he also deserve to make that choice for himself?" Robin asked.
"I - why do you care so much?" Nancy asked.
"I'm a firm believer in second chances. Without them, I wouldn't be here. My mother thought she'd never see my father again or to tell how she felt, but the chance came around again, so . . . Here I am," Robin said, raising her hands up in a shrug. "Gotta believe that there's hope for everyone."
Nancy stared at her for a moment, trying to figure her out. She washed her hands and dried them off.
"Don't tell Steve about this," Nancy said softly.
"Tell him what?" Robin shrugged and left the bathroom.
When Nancy walked into the house, Holly was playing barber shop with Mike's hair while he screeched that she was pulling his hair on purpose. Judging by the mischievous look on Holly's face, she was. Nancy smiled and shook her head before walking into the kitchen where her mother was making lunch.
"Hey, Nance. Did you find what you were looking for at the mall?" Karen asked.
"I think so," Nancy said softly as she stared at her mother.
She realized then where the choice she made with Jonathan was leading her. It was the path that she thought Steve would lead her down to: an unhappy marriage. She still liked Jonathan right now, and she wanted to continue to like him. Not that her mom didn't love her dad. It's just that she didn't like him very much. She wanted a partner that she not only liked but loved as well.
"We like Steve, but we don't love Steve," Murrary had taunted.
Nancy blushed furiously. He had been wrong. She should have said something then, defended Steve then because it was true. She liked Steve, and she loved him too. As much as she cared for Jonathan, as much as she liked him, she didn't love him the way that she loved Steve. The more she thought about Steve, the more she started to remember everything that she loved about their relationship. She remembered nights when they would curl up and watch Tom Cruise movies. They would both gush and giggle over him. Thinking about it now, he definitely had a crush on him like she did. She remembered watching him bake, and when a Bob Seger song came on, he would pull her in his arms to dance. He wasn't afraid to let her lead either. It wasn't just Bob Seger. It was Queen, Bowie, and Madonna. Occasionally, it was stuff like Eddie Van Halen, too. She loved the fact that he didn't just have a particular genre that he loved. He appreciated all sorts. And when she had to babysit Holly, he would come over to help, and he was always so good with her. He was good with both Holly and Mike. She loved the way that he wasn't afraid to be an absolute dork. Her dad was a quiet man, but he always some managed to pull a conversation out of Ted, and he loved to help her mother in the kitchen. She remembered all if without the cloud of guilt weighing her down.
"Nancy, honey, are you okay?" Karen asked.
"I messed everything up," Nancy burst into tears.
OMG HI😭😭i love your writing so much like im obsessed you’re so talented!!! i see your request are open and i just wanted to see if you do something where it’s after Yoongi and Y/N get into petty argument and Y/N is like “you know what? whatever” and gives Yoongi the silent treatment however, Yoongi hates being ignored (especially by his girl) so after giving her some space for a few hours and trying to get her to talk to him, he’s had enough oh the silence and decides to take matters into his own hands 🫣 I HOPE THIS MADE SENSE😭😭😭this thought has been running rampant in my mind for a week and i would love to see how you would write this ! there’s no rush, take your time if you don’t feel like it that’s TOTALLY okay i just want you to know that you’re writing is IMMACULATE, chefs mf kiss 🤌🏾 and that’s you are so freaking talented!! thank you for sharing your writing with us🥰🥰💕
Ahhhhhh! I love you so much! Your requests have given me such good ideas! I hope I fulfilled this one well. It turned into kind of brat tamer Yoongi who loves reader to pieces because I love everything about that trope. I really hope you love it bb!🩵🩵🩵
~
“Turn left up here!”
“I know where I’m going!”
“Obviously not! The parking lot will be full by the time we get there.”
Currently, you and your husband were on the way to your favorite store to spend some more of the gift cards you got at your wedding. You received so many and Yoongi made you agree that you’d only use them for important things.
New stuff for Holly counted as important, right? Of course it did.
A few months ago, you two moved to a new neighborhood which meant you didn’t really know where everything was.
As designated passenger princess, it was your responsibility to look hot, control the music and also manage the GPS to get you places but Yoongi wanted to trust his car’s GPS more than you. Ridiculous right?
He sighed. “I know where I’m going, okay? I don’t need your help.”
Your mouth dropped, a scandalized and dramatic gasp passing your glossed lips. How dare he?!
Crossing your arms over your chest, you slumped in the passenger seat. “You know what? Whatever, Yoongi.” You mumbled.
Silence enveloped the car, only the low sound of J.Cole’s melodic voice filling the space.
Yoongi glanced over at you, a smile threatening his lips at your pouty face. Ugh, you were such a spoiled little brat but he loved you so much. He actually took pleasure in riling you up and watching you get all huffy. Everytime he saw that princess personality, it awakened something in him—a need to both smother you with kisses and spank your ass until you were crying.
He reached over to place a large hand on your thigh. “Come on baby. Don’t be upset.”
You ignored him, fully turning your body towards the window. Uh oh, your full super bratty mode was activated.
“Are you really gonna ignore me?” He pondered.
No answer.
“Baby please. I’m sorry.”
Nothing.
He guessed he’d have to roll with this.
When Yoongi pulled into the parking lot of your favorite store, he tried to talk to you again but you were already out of the car.
Unfortunately, whenever you were upset with Yoongi, you got a sudden stroke of independence. He normally opened your door for you so he knew you were really upset when you did it yourself.
You didn’t talk to him the entire time through the store but you almost broke when you passed the pillows.
“Look baby. They have those pillows you were looking at.”
You picked one up before turning to Yoongi, opening your mouth to say, “yeah they…..” but you cut yourself off, remembering your vow of silence. He raised an eyebrow, waiting for you to speak but you held it. Tossing the pillows into the cart, you continued through the store, hands hurting from how hard you gripped the handles.
You couldn’t fight that skip in your heart. He remembered the pillows…..you told him about those weeks ago…..fuck.
You didn’t even notice Yoongi’s sly smirk as he walked behind you. He knew this silent treatment wouldn’t last long and he was honestly kind of amused. He knew you wanted to talk to him but your pride wouldn’t allow you to break first, not until you felt like it. He guessed he’d have to put up with your silent treatment a little longer.
Besides, with you walking ahead of him, he could stare at your perfect ass in those stretch pants all he wanted. His hand itched to grab it but he resisted. He didn’t want to make you more upset…..on purpose.
Yoongi ended up having to practically fight you with the bags, insisting he’ll put them back in the cart and push them to the car. You weren’t happy but you also didn’t argue, huffing and puffing your way back to the car.
Yoongi didn’t unlock the doors until he was finished putting the bags in the trunk which was getting you even more riled up. He knew you wanted to open your own door but doing it for you was just more amusing.
You squinted your eyes at him in frustration, throat burning with the desire to tell him off but you got in the car anyway, still completely silent.
The drive home was silent, as was the short journey up to your apartment. Holly greeted you both at the door, the wiggly dog jumping all over you. You didn’t even try to go through the bags, just heading straight for your bedroom where you could ignore Yoongi better. And of course, Holly followed you, not sparing Yoongi a passing glance.
Traitor, Yoongi thought.
He sighed but left you alone. He knew you weren’t that upset about what he said in the car. You were just being stubborn. He spoiled you too much. He could also be kind of passive(he’s working on it) as well so perhaps this was proving to be a little test for him.
After putting away the few grocery items and leaving the rest of your choices for you to sort through, he flopped down on the couch.
It was quiet.
Too quiet.
He liked his peace and quiet as much as the next person but the noise you brought was different. He had grown used to hearing you singing under your breath or talking to yourself as you thought about dinner or the crash of all of your hair products falling because you had so many and they didn’t fit right in the hallway closet.
You had ingrained yourself into his life—you and your own perfect little storm of gentle chaos.
He missed you. Even though you were in the next room. He missed you.
Standing from the couch, he walked down the hall to the bedroom. He couldn’t hear anything on the other side.
His knuckles rapped gently against the wood before he opened he door. “Baby?”
He found you laid on your back on the bed, phone held over your face as you scrolled through social media. Holly was resting on his dog bed in the corner, little head lifting as Yoongi entered.
“Go.” He motioned to the door. Holly tilted his head in a way that solidified Yoongi’s suspicion that his dog was secretly a human. Human or not, Holly knew better than to stick around.
Yoongi closed the door before focusing his attention back on you.
He approached the bed, leaning a knee on it. You could feel the dip but made no move to acknowledge him.
“Baby please. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said. Of course I need you. I love when you tell me where to go but then you get distracted so we miss the turn. Remember we were late to our rehearsal dinner?”
Your lip twitched at the memory. Of course you do. The excitement of your wedding being the next day had you so caught up in your then fiancé that you couldn’t even focus on giving directions. And thanks to Yoongi being equally distracted by how stunning you were, he didn’t even think to make sure you stayed focused enough to give directions. He missed the exit twice before finally getting on track. Nevertheless, it was still a memorable evening with his family and close friends.
And the precursor to the rest of a wonderful life with you.
You still continued to ignore him. You could hear the sincerity in his apology but you wanted to make him sweat just a little bit longer.
But even Yoongi had a breaking point and you were crossing it.
“Baby.”
No answer.
Alright. Breaking point crossed.
~
“Why do you have to make everything so difficult? Ignoring me, “he scoffed with a shake of his head and landing a sharp smack to your ass. “You’re crazy.”
Your head was buried in the blankets, shoulders pressed against the bed and wrists held tightly in Yoongi’s grip.
His hips were slamming into your ass hard enough to hurt, his thick cock stretching your walls to their limit. He was thick enough to give you that slightly searing stretch and long enough to make you feel it all the way to your deepest parts.
“Mm, Yoongi!” You cry out as his strokes became longer, pulling himself all the way out to the tip remained before slamming back inside. He grits his teeth at your walls sucking him in as if they didn’t want him to go. Thank goodness for his stamina. After meeting you, he’s had to learn how restrain himself longer than ever. He never used to cum quick before meeting you. And yes, that was one of the many reasons he pursued you. “F-fuck….you feel so good.”
You arched your back more, lifting your ass so that he could reach even deeper.
“Don’t ignore me again. Do you understand?” He landed another slap on your bouncing ass, loving the recoil.
Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, face feeling hot from your breath that kept blowing back from how your face was pressed into the mattress.
Everything felt too tight, too hot, too sweaty, too good.
“Yes! I’m sorry!” You cried.
Releasing your wrists, he grabbed at your braids, twisting them around his wrist a few times. Waist length were definitely a smart investment.
He pulled you up until you were “balanced” on your hands because let’s face it, those things were numb as hell. His hold on your hair was really the only thing keeping you upright.
“Sorry for what? Apologize properly.”
He wanted you to form full sentences? That was like asking Jada to stop talking about Tupac. Impossible.
Another stroke knocked your speech centers loose, third orgasm since you started bubbling in your lower belly.
Yoongi could feel your walls clenching up, your moans growing louder at each thrust. Oh no you don’t.
He stopped his hips, still buried deep in your cunt. You whined as your orgasm ebbed away, wiggling your hips in an attempt to throw yourself back on his cock but a hand on your hip made you still.
“You’re not cumming until you apologize properly. Now, what aren’t you gonna do again?”
You swallowed, lip quivering and tears welling up. “I…I won’t ignore you again.”
He grinned. “Apology accepted.”
His hips set a punishing pace, your ass ricocheting off his hips. It had you moaning in ecstasy, nearly slipping from his grasp but he wrapped an arm under your breasts to keep you steady.
“Shit, I love this pussy. So. Fucking. Good.” Each word was punctuated with a thrust.
Your hand reached back to claw at his side, the slight sting making him groan and thus pushing him faster.
He yanked your hair until your back was pressed flush against his chest, his hips never slowing down. Almost instantly, you turned your head, seeking his lips as you always did when you were close. His heart fluttered, loving how affectionate you were.
You almost miss his lips from how absolutely feral he was going in your poor cunt. Fortunately, he tilts your head better with his grip on your hair, kissing your wet pout. The tenderness has your heart swooning despite all the chaos. He sucks at your tongue, leaving a light bite on your bottom lip as well.
“Gonna cum, my sweet girl?” He whispers in your ear, nipping at the skin.
You didn’t need to answer him, you’re growing moans enough to confirm. The hand that wasn’t scratching at his skin raises up to bury in his hair, yanking his strands similar to how he was doing you causing him to grunt in delight.
The arm around your body moved down to rub circles into your clit and you swore you saw the upper room. He buried his face in the side of your neck, inhaling your sweaty skin, lips leaving kisses and bites along the side of your throat.
His hips move even faster than before, desperate to carry you to your orgasm before he lost his shit. Pent up from that brief denial and riddled from your previous orgasms, you’re quick to crumble against him. Twisting in his hold, you cry out his name that’s like music to his ears.
“Yoongiiiiiiiiii! Cum in me, baby. Want you so bad….”
Your walls grip him tighter than a vice, his hips stuttering with careless abandon as he gives you exactly what you want. The sensitivity between your thighs burns in the best ways, little gasps coming from you another tiny orgasm washes over you.
“Ugh, fuck.” The last few sluggish ruts of his hips make both of you whine and gasp, his grip on you tightening and then loosening as his body shudders.
Your body falls forward on the mattress, muscles and bones weary and your eyes drooping as exhaustion weighs on them. You feel Yoongi flop down next to you, only the sound of his slightly hurried breaths filling the room.
“Not falling asleep on me, are ya?” He asks after a few seconds. He turns his head to find you are, in fact, beginning to doze off.
“No.” You fib, rolling your achy body over and holding up one arm. “Come kiss me.”
His smile is as sweet as him. He scoots over to bury himself in your warmth. Your arm wraps around him as his head lifts to give you your requested kisses.
“I love you.” You confess against his lips.
He hums. “Love you too. Even though you’re bad at giving directions.”
You roll your eyes but continued to peck at his lips. “Marry your GPS then.”
“I already have.” He hugs you closer. “And I wouldn’t give her up for anything.”
Smudged (3) Rodrick Heffley X M! Reader
Anddd it's here!
Warnings: Mentioned eating disorder otherwise not specified.
Summary: You were busy enough in life, too busy for what school planned to throw at you; at everyone. A boy you know well seemed to come up with an idea to manage that.
Word Count: 2.7K
Tumblr media
-
A white pillowcase smashed against a mess of blonde hair, “Get up.”
Heather’s eyes scrunched up, her first action of the day being to glare at you with an unreasonable amount of venom. The sky outside was just starting to shine through the blinds in her bedroom, clashing against the pink theme of it all. She was never quite the morning person, but frankly, waking her and Holly up was simply your duty; it has been since it was just the two of you.
“School’s been in for two weeks, you should be used to this by now,” you snickered, backing away from the bed.
“Get out of my room!”
That was the only warning you got before she initiated her revenge, sending the poor, soft pillow flying once again. You balanced onto your toes as you shut the door as quickly as you could; the only proof that the object hit the target was the loud thump on the thin wood, “Be careful not to mess up your precious cotton pillowcases!”
“They’re satin, you freak,” Heather yelled, echoing in the hallway you retreated down.
Holly’s room was the second farthest away from yours, only being beat by your parents’. The only thing that separated it from the rest of the house was a tie-dyed sheet; her choice, of course. With careful fingers, you peeked inside, seeing your little sister shifting and groaning in her blankets.
Softly, “It’s time to wake up, I got your favorite cereal downstairs.”
She shot up, staring at you with wide eyes, “Really?”
“Of course I did! Not a day goes by where I don’t spoil my favorite little sister, now does it?”
You disappeared back behind the sheets when she scrambled out of bed, eager to get dressed. The stairs groaned underneath your covered feet, almost as if they were as unenthusiastic about the day as you were. Both of your parents leave for work earlier than most now that Holly was old enough to be left alone with her older siblings, but because Heather rendered herself helpless in the morning, the role of caretaker was left to you.
All three of you have to leave for school at seven, so you wake your siblings up to greet the morning at six o’clock sharp, no more, no less. You as yourself get up an hour earlier in order to gather your own things, pack lunches, pack Holly’s bag, and have time for yourself. It was exhausting, always, but it was worth it to see the two of them shine.
The kitchen was adjacent to the dining room, with warm lighting to start the morning off in the right mood. You dug your fingers into the cardboard seal on the cereal before popping open the plastic bag inside, not bothering to use scissors. It never spilled everywhere, after all. As you heard Holly’s light footsteps swirling down the stairs, you shook a serving into a ceramic bowl, setting it beside a cup of milk on the usual table. Heather never ate breakfast, and no matter how hard you tried, she insisted that she needed to skip in order to keep up with her dream body. If you pushed it, she snapped.
When Holly finally appeared and slid into her seat, you sat in a chair beside her, “How’re classes going? I heard this is the year you finally start switching classrooms for periods.”
“They’re going good, I guess.” She sighed, pouring the milk into her breakfast, “My teacher for English already handed out the project prompts for this year, but I don’t wanna do it.”
“Wait, wait, what the hell? Already?”
“You haven’t gotten yours yet?”
“No, not in my school. Isn’t it against the rules to get a head start?”
“It was only a day before you, so I don’t think so,” she grumbled, mouth full.
“Well, it should be.”
“Nobody’s started working on it yet.”
You threw your hands up in the air, laughing, “Still!”
Over the oven, the clock blinked at you. You ruffled Holly’s hair, while she turned her head towards you, adorned with a milky mustache, “We have to get going soon, your stuff’s leaning on the door.”
She jumped out of her chair, running to the bottom of the stairs to call upwards, “Heather! We gotta go!”
“I just need five more minutes to finish getting ready,” Heather replied, half silenced by the sound of the bowls settling into the sink.
“Nuh-uh, we have to go now!”
Holly shuffled her shoes on, sitting down to tie them neatly. Your twin hurried down the stairs, squishing past the other girl on the way down, flipping her hair behind her back. She opened the door, and shivered as the early chill seeped into her bones. Heather grabbed her bag alongside Holly’s, practically throwing it in the car before placing her own down in the backseat. You double checked the oven, lights, and sinks, before shoving Holly out the door and locking it behind you. Heather called shotgun, therefore Holly had to squish herself in between everyone’s backpacks. The car started with a weak, stumbling roar, and you were on your way.
The world was only just starting to wake up in a blur outside the windows as the voice of a young woman sang throughout your vehicle, interrupted with the occasional tapping of Heather texting her friends. She never stopped keeping up with her social life, it seemed. However, while everyone else was lost in thought, one thing stuck in your mind.
“Hey, did you get your prompt?” you said, glancing at the girl beside you.
Heather did not even look up from her screen, “Duh. You haven’t?”
“Ugh.”
“So… that’s a no.”
As you pulled into the parking lot of the school, lined behind an endless row of cars, she smacked you in the arm, “Why are you in the drop-off line? I’m driving the girls to the mall after school today, I told you last night.”
“Okay, okay,” you hissed, turning the wheel, “you didn’t have to hit me!”
“Don’t get a spot too far from the school, either!”
Your car slowed to a stop and powered off, as you slipped the key out and handed it to Heather, “I’ll kill you if you lose that– now both of you, shoo! Get out!”
Its doors were slammed shut, and it locked with a beep. You leaned against the hood of the vehicle, watching carefully as your two sisters entered the school. It was a plain-looking building, which the school pathetically attempted to fix with a few colorful flower bushes. The air around you was silent, as quiet as a parking lot could be, and you turned to walk the rest of the way to your school building. Yet, before you could step any farther, a white van screeched past. Deafening music screamed out; it was distorted from how roughly the driver was maneuvering potholes. Oh, how bad you felt for the passengers, did the driver even have a license? You shook your head, glad that you had the sense to keep an eye on your sisters.
The school you went to was not far away, simply a few buildings down the opposite side of the street. Due to their close proximity, they were always competing in everything; from student count, finances, even to awards. So much so that they had devised a competition to be held between the schools each year to contribute to the state curriculum. It was annual, of course, and every single one of the projects made would be showcased and judged based on a variety of categories. Whichever school gets on the podium the most, well, you get the point. That doesn’t mean it’s not a pain in the ass, however.
The day went quicker than usual, with you patiently awaiting the class of which you would get your prompt and category; English. You were set on it enough that even Daniel noticed, poking and picking at you the entire day, finding time to do it in the hallways when you did not have classes together. He reached his hand back towards you, fingers making a crude attempt at stealing your eraser.
You slapped it away as the bell rang, the seats in the classroom filled, “What’re you doing?”
“Lightening the mood, ever heard of it?” he whispered back, craning his neck to look at you.
Students around the two of you were passing papers back, the teacher’s eyes glaring holes into Daniel’s head. He squeaked, taking his prompt, and proceeded to throw the slip of paper behind him. It fluttered in the air, and came to a rest on the top of your nose. He earned two more holes being burned into him as it slid gracefully off of the tip. For revenge, you leaned forward, your hand hovering over a stray lock of Daniel’s hair. He had opened his own paper, shoulders scrunched, and you yanked the strand in favor of reading it.
He yelped while you raised an eyebrow, “Tree vandalism, huh?”
“What the fuck, dude,” More groans arose from the class around you, “what did I do?”
“You know what you did.”
“Ms. Kawiti already avenged you with whatever this is, please do tell me what tree vandalism is!” He rolled his eyes.
“Well, what’s the category?”
“Environmental Science– I hate that class, you don’t understand.”
You slouched against your desktop, “Loser. I bet they chose that on purpose.”
“If you’re so confident, why don’t you open yours?”
“I was getting to it!”
Daniel scooched his chair around, almost unheard in the chatter-filled room, when you thumbed the slip open. Percussion; musical. Ah, yes, now you could understand the reaction of everyone else. It felt like the administration grouped together all of the staff to give all of the students the worst prompts imaginable, even the janitor. Even God himself knows that the janitor hates them all, rightfully. Perhaps this was his plan to avenge himself and any of the past janitors as well, after a decade of working there. Perhaps you could plead for mercy, even as the class around you fell silent.
He squinted his eyes, attempting to read it upside down, “That isn’t too bad, unlike something someone got.”
“Since when can you read like that?”
“Since now,” Daniel said.
You scoffed, crumpling the paper and tossing it in your bag, “I don’t even know anything about percussion.”
“Well, the whole point is to research a topic, so,” he waved his own, “Google it, go to the library, pay the music teacher a visit for the first time this year. At least you get to have fun with yours!”
“Yeah, true, I won’t be stuck studying trees.” At that, Daniel stuck up his middle finger, scowling.
A singular finger tapped his shoulder, a ring adorning it. You hid a smile behind your hand as Daniel slowly turned, getting tenser with each second that passed. His eyes followed the figure upward, until they finally met her own. Ms. Kawiti, in all her glory, stood firm in front of his desk with pursed lips; an action that gave you a better look of the tattoo of which ran down the bottom of her lips to her chin.
“Class was dismissed five minutes ago, boys. And Mr. Ivanov, if I see that behavior in my classroom again, I won’t hesitate to give you detention.”
Daniel shrunk in his seat, “Yes, ma’am, understood.”
She strolled to the front of the classroom, and busied herself with a stack of papers. He wasted no time shoving his materials into his backpack, heaving it onto his shoulder, and most likely busting the door hinges with how fast he ran out. You allowed yourself to remove your hand from your mouth, snickering. As you got up to follow your friend, the teacher looked up from her papers with a certain twinkle in her eye.
“Remember that working with another student is prohibited; have a nice day.” As you slipped out of the classroom at last.
Daniel was waiting for you outside, and trailed behind you as you appeared. He grabbed a string on your bag, per usual, in order to not lose you in the waves of students crashing into the both of you. You pulled him along, leading him to the quickly emptying rows of lockers in the hallway. This is where the pressure on your backpack stopped, and Daniel slammed open his door. The lock holding yours open clicked under your fingers, allowing you to dump the contents of your bag inside while its pins shook.
He loudly asked, “Is it just me, or is she horribly strict?”
“Every teacher is strict to you, dude, you just hate school.” You hissed, “If anything, Ms. Kawiti is the least strict teacher that we’ve ever had.”
“She did let me off with a warning for flipping you off instead of detention.”
You smacked his back, “You’re one lucky man, Daniel. She won’t let you off that easily next time.”
“Ugh, don’t remind me.”
He zipped up his bag, hitting you with it as he tugged it on. You made a face at him, only to see him smirking at you, before darting down the hall and towards the two large exit doors. Your jaw tightened, teeth grinding against one another. Even as you chased him from a distance, you could hear his cackles only getting louder as you started to close it, reaching out a hand to grab him by the collar. Daniel knew he couldn’t outrun you; he never once had beaten you in mandatory track practices in middle school, much less now. He lasted a grand total of thirty-two seconds before you seized him by the back of his neck, a mere foot from the doors.
“You lost.”
Daniel cursed, “I have a heavier bag than you, of course I did!”
“Excuses, excuses.” You flicked his nose before setting him on the ground outside of the building, joining him shortly. The last thing you wanted was to pay a visit to the principal’s office simply because a teacher saw you playing.
As you slid down the railing, accompanying the boy jumping down the stairs, he said, “Where’s your car? Aren’t you driving home today?”
“Nah, man. Heather wanted to take the girls and Holly out to the mall.”
“I could drive you home, if you want.”
You huffed, “No thanks, wouldn’t wanna be a bother.”
Daniel held his hands high in the air, backing away towards his car, “If you say so.”
“See you tomorrow, tell me how the research goes.”
“You better text me when you get home, don’t make me wait until math in the morning to see if you got kidnapped!” he yelled, slamming his door shut and peeking out the window.
Instead of answering, you stuck out your tongue at him as the engine roared. Really, you could have sworn he flipped you off again before pulling out of the lot, speeding off until you would be able to see him the next day. You chuckled, shifting the weight of your bag onto your other shoulder, starting onto your journey home. Heather and Holly should both be out of school by now, despite the fact that your school releases earlier than theirs, and should be on their way to the mall. You can’t steal the car back now, can you?
That is all you could think about as you crossed the street, running across the sections where cars were lined, peering at the entrance in hopes of seeing your siblings. Instead, you could only see a puff of brown hair hurtling towards you before a body hit you, an arm curling around your neck and spinning you around. You hurled over, trying to throw the person off of you, not wanting to take Daniel’s words seriously. A grunt and a smack rang out as he hit the floor; you stumbled a few steps back.
A cough, “What was that for?” Rodrick spluttered.
You exhaled in a hurry, “Oh my god, it’s you.”
“Of course it’s me, who else would it be?”
“A kidnapper,” you responded dumbly.
He rolled onto his hands and knees, shaking as he staggered onto his feet once again, “Damn, I just wanted to say hi.”
“What part of hi requires you to jump on me?”
“The friendly part, duh.”
You stayed silent, looking at him with furrowed eyebrows. He seemed to pick up on your mood, scratching the back of his neck, his voice still hoarse from the fall.
“I need you to do a favor for me.”
Silk Chiffon (why wouldn't it be?)
Tumblr media
Robin Buckley x Nancy Wheeler
Summary: Robin can read Nancy like her favourite book, it just takes her a few tries to get the translation right.
Warnings: coming out, demisexual Nancy, anxiety about the future ad regrets from the past. first kiss, love confessions
a/n: i know demisexuality wasn't coined till like 2004/2008 (depending on the source) but it just fits here and so I'm using it
word count: 2k
Tumblr media
Robin can tell something is up. They’re trying to sleep, laying side by side in her twin bed, Robin facing her while she stares up at the ceiling. Eyes open, hands interlocked and laying on her stomach, her breathing is a little too fast. Like her thoughts are racing and therefore, her heart must be, too.
“Do you want to talk?” Robin whispers.
Nancy lets out a deep sigh, “no… but yes.”
“You can tell me anything,” she reminds her. After all they’ve been through, there’s nothing Robin can’t handle now.
“Can I ask you a question?”
She nods, “yeah, of course.”
She scoots a little closer to Nancy as she turns to face robin, inches from her face now, so her whispers can’t be heard by anyone else. “Are you… asexual?”
“What? No?” Robin’s absolutely shocked by that. “Why would you think I am?”
“Cause Steve hits on anything with a pulse and you’ve never gotten with him. You’re so adamant that you’re platonic with a capital P and he obviously would respect you if you turned him down but like… you guys don’t flirt. Steve flirts with everyone, but not you?” She explains, rambling a bit which is so unlike her.
“He did try and tell me he had a thing for me… when we were high, after the Russian’s… but I uh, I um, I’m—” she tries to swallow, to get some moisture back in her mouth. Terrified that this is where the friendship dies. This is why she never had sleepovers before. Telling someone the truth after spending so many nights side by side can only end one way. Disgust. Betrayal. Being kicked out and humiliated in the middle of the night.
“Robin,” she reaches out and soothes her hand over her shoulder and down her arm. “It’s okay.”
She takes a deep breath, nodding slightly. “I’m a lesbian.”
“That’s wonderful,” Nancy smiles at her. “I’m proud of you for telling me… I love that you trust me.”
Robin feels like crying but she doesn’t, she just lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding for so long, “thank you. Really.”
“How did you know?” Nancy asks. “Like, did you always know or did it sneak up on you?”
“Oh, I uh, I always knew,” she explains. “Like… when all the other girls were swooning over boys, I was so disgusted by it. My mom thought I was just a late bloomer but then, then I got a crush. I didn’t think it was a crush but the more I thought about it, the more I was so worried I was just obsessed with her. Like a freak.”
“That’s how I felt about Steve at first,” she explains. “But that’s just because I thought that was what you were supposed to do when you like someone.”
“Yeah, it feels so intense you just want to look at them and be near them and—and relate to them, so you become who they want to get closer to them and you lose a bit of yourself,” Robin rants. “I hate it. I wish someone would like me for me, that someone could see me for who I really am and stay who they really are and we can stay happy together.”
“I want that too,” she sighs.
“We’ll find it,” Robin gives her a little smile.
“Would it be okay for me to tell you a secret now?”
“Why wouldn't it be?”
“When I was touring the campus in Boston, mom went to find a payphone so she could call home and see if Holly was okay… I went to the store to get a sweater but I ended up finding all the textbooks for each course and—and I bought the book for the human sexualities class,” she explains. “And I read it all.”
“Can I read it next?” Robin asks, thinking nothing of it. Nancy loves to learn, there’s nothing wrong with that.
“Yeah, it’s just…” she bites her lip for a second. “Have you ever heard of demisexuality?”
She shakes her head, “no.”
“The way the book described it is basically someone who only develops sexual feelings for someone or enjoys and initiates sex with someone who they’re emotionally close with,” she explains.
“Makes sense,” Robin nods along. “So, is that why you asked if I’m asexual?”
She nods, “Yeah… and because I think that’s me.”
“Oh?”
“With Steve, the first time was so— not bad, but uncomfortable. I wanted to, at least I thought I did. I thought lying to your parents and going to a boy's house to drink beer and have your first time was such a normal teenage girl thing to do that I did it. But I didn’t enjoy myself—
“Most girls don’t the first time,” Robin validates her feelings. “I’m not saying you’re not demisexual, I’m just saying that’s normal.”
“I know it is, but… then I kept dating Steve. I did fall in love with him, he was a good friend to me and the sex did get better, which I know you don’t want to hear about but—
“I don’t mind,” she giggles slightly. “I always knew he wasn’t as good as he bragged to be.”
Nancy laughs too, “he was good. It just took me a while to initiate it and have fun and then there was Jonathan. It was so different with him, that first time was so good. It was months of building a friendship and an understanding that bubbled to the top and it was wonderful. But then it died. As we drifted apart, as he stopped being my best friend, the longer we weren’t together, the harder it was to keep loving him.”
Robin nods, “And that happened with Steve too?”
“No. No, it faded with Steve because of Jonathan. Like, I have a one-track mind when it comes to love and whoever my best friend is at the time is the only person I want to be with. And I hate myself for that,” she explains.
“You were also a teenage girl, I mean, you still are,” Robin talks her off the ledge. “You’re 18. You don’t need to have all the answers and be 100% perfect all the time. I mean there are adults in their 30s and 40s who cheat and ruin families all the time, you’re not like that. You have time to learn who you are and what you like and be truly loved. It’ll be okay.”
Nancy starts to cry a bit, “I don’t think it will…”
“Hey,” Robin moves in closer, pulling her in against her chest, she runs her hand over Nancy’s back. “You will. You are loved. Very loved.”
“That’s why I’m so scared. I don’t want to lose this,” she whispers, her voice smaller than it’s ever been. She hugs Robin so close, “If I love you… if we get together just to go to different colleges and spend days not talking, it’ll dwindle and die like everything else and I can’t lose you. You’re my favourite friend I’ve had in a long time.”
“So that’s why you asked… cause if I was asexual we couldn’t hook up and you wouldn’t lose me,” Robin pieces it all together.
She just nods against her, “I have loved this time so much. I love how we talk about everything. I love how we can do nothing and still enjoy it because we're together. I love that life with you is so easy and fun and—and I just love you.”
Robin simply kisses the top of her head before resting her cheek against her, “I love you too… but unlike those two idiots, I’m not going to let the best girl I’ve ever known in my whole life just walk away. You’re going to get sick of me. I’m going to call you in Boston, and I’m going to come visit when I can, we’ll be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring break and if you get a summer internship in Boston, I can come out there for the summer. If I get to love you, to really love you, I’m making it work for the long run.”
“Is Steve going to be okay with it?” She worries more.
Robin just laughs, “Yeah, seeing as he’s had to listen to me pine over you for months now, he knows. He’s okay… he has someone special of his own now. I’ll let him tell you who, but he’s okay. He’s moved on. We’re allowed to be happy.”
Nancy lets out a relieved laugh, holding Robin even tighter. “Oh my god, it feels so good to tell you. I have been thinking about this for weeks. Months maybe.”
“You have a killer poker face then,” Robin teases. “I thought you were so straight.”
“I did too,” Nancy whispers, adjusting her head so she’s closer to Robin’s throat. She gives her a little kiss, “Then I spent a week with you and something brewed and all I could think about was seeing you again, and talking to you again and kissing you to get you to shut up.”
Robin laughs, “Yeah, that’s one way to do it.”
Nancy straddles her, a knee on both sides of her hips, her arms wrapped around her middle, she keeps kissing the side of her neck. “I’ve wanted to kiss you for so long.”
“I’ve never been kissed before,” Robin admits. “I’ve never done anything, before… I’m not sure I’m ready to just jump into it, either.”
“I’m not ready for that either,” Nancy agrees, holding her tighter for a moment before she props herself up on her hands and leans over her. Her hair dangling down in Robin's face, she reaches up to push her hair back behind her ear. “But I would like to kiss you.”
“Please?” Robin all but begs.
Balancing on one hand, Nancy cups her face gently, rubbing her thumb over Robin’s cheek. She leans in slowly, savouring the moment, building anticipation before it happens.
One touch, 4 lips meet, one explosion, 2 lives better in an instant.
Suddenly, all at once, she understands the big bang. How something so small could create so much. She understands every love song and poem, every painting and sculpture… every depiction of the world from a lens of love and happiness and longing and belonging.
The kiss deepens, and she follows Nancy’s lead because she knows what she’s doing. Sure, she’s seen enough movies to get the gist of making out, but there’s something so different about experiencing it firsthand. The way her tongue feels so right against her own, how their lips move in tandem like they were programmed this way… how Nancy slips from her perch and rests her body weight on her and Robin's hands instinctively wrap around her and she holds her there.
Nancy brushes her hair back a few times, trying to get it out of Robin’s face and stop it from tickling her, but it keeps falling back down. Eventually, Robin misses the feel of her hand on her cheek, so she gathers Nancy’s hair in her hands and holds it as if her fist was a ponytail. To her surprise, Nancy just hums against her, thanking her while her tongue is in Robin's mouth.
She never wants this to end.
She could make out with Nancy for the rest of her life if she was allowed. They could never leave this bed again for all she cared. She would give up every early pleasure for Nancy’s.
When Nancy does eventually pull away, it’s just a millimetre before she rests her forehead against robins. She’s breathing just as deep as Robin, flushed and craving more but they said they wouldn’t. They can’t. It needs to be more special than in the middle of the night in the Wheeler’s house with people on either side of her walls and across the hall.
“I love you,” Nancy whispers.
“I love you,” she whispers right back. “There’s no getting rid of me now. You’re stuck with me, I hope you understand that.”
Nancy just giggles that beautiful giggle. “Good.”
@steddiemas Day 18 -  Classic Christmas Songs (The First Nöel)
pairing: steddie | word count: 1,924 | rated: G
Tumblr media
It didn’t take too long after the song started for Eddie to want out.
He debated staying, just to listen to Steve sing along to it under his breath while he meticulously weaved strips of dough over a pie with what Eddie thinks is way too huge a mound of blueberries, but even that didn’t help.
Steve’s ‘everyone over for Christmas dinner before Christmas’ idea made Eddie skeptical at first, having literally everyone (the Hendersons, Mrs. Wheeler along with Nancy, Mike, and Holly, The Sinclairs, the Hopper-Byers clan, Gareth and Freak along with Jeff and his mom, the Buckleys (of course), and even he and Wayne) together under one roof seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.
But no.
Everyone got along great, the lot of them snacking on meats and cheeses, stolen candy and cookies that Steve had made over the last couple days, Wayne, Hop, and Claudia are fussing over two whole turkeys and a huge ham, and Joyce, Karen and Lucas are whipping up huge batches of side dishes.
And it doesn’t usually affect him this bad anymore, but that damned song paired with all of their huge chosen family together under one roof like this, warm, happy, healthy…he had to leave.
He did not want to get emotional in front of them.
The sound of the door sliding on its track breaks Eddie’s reverie. It was longer than he thought it’d take for someone to come looking for him, but he suspects that it was done on purpose.
He doesn’t look back at who decided to grace him with their presence, but immediately knows who it is when a hat gets pushed down onto his head, just a bit too far down.
“You’re not catching a cold on my watch, Munson.”
Eddie pushes the fold of the knit cap off his eyes, “Wasn’t planning on it Steve-o.”
“Coulda fooled me. As if trying to withstand a whole winter in a leather jacket isn’t gonna give you a cold.”
A snort of a laugh escapes Eddie’s lips at Steve’s sarcastic tone. “I have, and no colds yet.”
“Uh huh. Sure.” Steve says, sitting down beside him.  “That’s why you borrowed my old puffer coat last time you were here, right?”
The lone poolside chair not packed away for the season wasn’t his first choice of seating, but it was the only one. Though Steve’s dry heat beside him is already a welcome balance to the cold metal and plastic of the chair.
Eddie’s lips twitch up into a brief smile, “I didn’t want to get mine all wet.”
They fall silent after that, and Eddie fishes his lighter and pack of Marlboro’s out of his pocket, pulling one out of the carton and lighting it up.
He offers one to Steve, but he waves him off.
“So.” Steve says after about half the cigarette was gone.
“So?”
“Are you alright, Eddie?”
He stays silent, debating whether or not to actually tell Steve what was wrong or just brush it off again.
“Was it something I–we said? Or did?” Eddie caught the slip, and decided he was going to tell him, but Steve continued on, “I know you’re not the biggest fan of Christmas anyway..”
“No, it’s not—” Eddie heaves a sigh, and even he can hear the exasperated relenting in it. “You didn’t do anything wrong, Steve. None of you did.”
He takes a drag and blows out a long stream of steamy breath and smoke. It hits him then, before he even speaks, that he’s being dramatic. Has been being dramatic. What a stupid thing to get emotional about.
“My middle name is Nöel. Like, fully, exactly how it’s supposed to be spelled for the holidays. The two dots over the O and everything. So it’s just me being dramatic; it gets annoying to hear all season.”
At first, Eddie thinks he’s gotten away with it, that Steve’s silence is just satisfied understanding, but just before he’s about to put himself back on the right way to go back inside, Steve speaks again.
“Where’d the name come from?”
Eddie finally looks over at him, taking in the comically mismatched pink My Little Pony scarf (Erica’s) and bright safety green beanie (Robin’s) he’d thrown on before coming out to the patio. “..Huh?”
Eloquent as ever, Munson.
“C’mon man.” Steve says, rolling his eyes fondly and nudging Eddie’s shoulder with his own. “You act like I don’t know you.”
Eddie’s “You don’t.” is automatic.
Steve just scoffs, “You disappeared without a word, man; normally you announce, with wildly different levels of dramatics each time, that you’re going to smoke, or you ‘gotta take a leak’. You didn’t do that this time so naturally that means this was more than just getting annoyed by a Christmas carol.”
Eddie blinks at him. Stunned by the proof that he, Eddie Munson, was one of the people Steve used his almost insane levels of observation on after all. Usually it’s wasted on the kids; Steve’s acute ability to hone in on exactly what each of the party needs at any given time—how Steve has encyclopedic knowledge on each of their favorite snacks, their preferred drinks, games, movies, which blankets they like to steal from the Harringtons’ nearly bottomless linen closet—almost always goes unappreciated.
“I may not get a lot of things, but I do pay attention to the people I care about.” Steve continues on, voicing Eddie’s thoughts.
“You a mind reader now too, Harrington?”
Steve grins at him, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Nah man, I’m just a damn good babysitter.”
Eddie huffs out another laugh, “Sorry to tell ya this, but I don’t need to be babied or sat.”
He doesn’t say anything more, just waits for Eddie to continue.
“It was my mom.” Eddie finally concedes, “She gave me the name Nöel. So you kinda hit it on the head, there is more to it than just the song.
“Wayne says she chose it because she loved the season, that it was when she felt most at peace no matter what else was going on in her life.”
Steve is quiet beside him, just existing in the space while Eddie finishes off his cigarette.
“And that’s why I get so salty about Christmas. It’s not because she died around this time of year, which doesn’t help of course, it’s because she loved the holiday so much. I mean,” he snorts, “She named me after it after all. So this time of year always felt so wrong without her.”
He stubs the flame under his boot, scrubbing it into the concrete and promising himself he’ll come back for the butt later (he’ll forget).
The younger man is silent for two more breaths.
“Eddie, I am so sorry..”
All he can do is shrug, “It’s fine Steve, I’m used to that song by now–well, I was.”
“What changed?”
Eddie lets out another steadying breath. “When I was little, down in Tennessee, it was worse because I was little. All the crafts and games and things they did with first and middle names in elementary school y’know?” He sees Steve nod out of the corner of his eye. “The kids down there would sing the damn song at me to make fun of me. After I came up here to live with Wayne it got better…kinda.
“The kids here didn’t know what my middle name was, and Wayne would switch the radio station if that godforsaken song would come on come December, but even then, every time it did come up…it was like a pointed little finger poked into the bruise left behind after mom died.” Eddie says, jabbing the air in front of him with his own finger in a harsh movement before letting his hand drop back down to his lap. “It was starting to get better, hearing my name like that.”
“How so?” Steve’s voice lilts into something eager, but just barely.
Eddie sucks in a deep breath and the cold, dry air burns his nose as he does.
“You.” he states, using all the breath he’d taken in on the one word.
“Me?” Steve asks in disbelief.
“Ever since I found out that you also think November 1st means Christmas decorations need to be up.” Eddie nods, he wasn’t about to tell him about the soupy gut feeling he’d gotten when he heard Steve singing along to that stupid fuckin’ song. “Annoying, but it was the same when I was little.
“You should see the pictures,” he grins, continuing on, “A little Batman helping mom put up the tree because I didn’t want to take off my costume–even slept in it a couple times, waking up the next morning to hot chocolate, candy canes, and popcorn garlands.”
“That’s adorable.” Steve laughs, and Eddie laughs with him, his chest feeling miles looser than when he first came out here.
They’re silent for a bit, listening to the muffed yells of the kids coming from inside about who knows what.
“I’ll follow Wayne’s example,” Steve says eventually. “I’ll make sure to change the station, won’t sing it any—”
“Nah, no way man. You don’t have to do that. Like I said, it was getting better.”
“Still, I don’t want to make you upset.”
“Don’t worry about it Stevie,” he sniffs, looking over the empty pool, “I like when you sing it.” he admits before he can stop himself.
Aw fuck.
“You do?”
 “I do.”
What the fuck are you doing?!
“You do.” Steve states as if he doesn’t believe him.
Eddie nods silently, gulps around the nerves in his throat. “It’s stupid, but it’s like you’re singing about me rather than at me. It’s…nice.”
Steve falls quiet, so he turns to face him again; Steve’s eyes are wide, cheeks red from the cold and otherwise pale.
Shocked. And not in a good way.
“Just don’t tell any of the other jerks, ‘kay?” Eddie laughs, it comes out strained. “They’d definitely be singing it at me if they found out.”
Steve’s face thaws into something softer at that, his lips twitch like they want to smile.
“Also, I hardly doubt Henderson’s got nearly as good a voice as you do.”
That finally melts him completely, “Henderson’s actually got some pipes on him.” he laughs softly and knocks his shoulder into Eddie’s. “You should hear his Madonna.”
“Yeah no. No thank you.” Eddie says as he stands, “C’mon Stevie, let’s go back in and eat. It’s time to eat already, right?” He offers him a hand.
Steve takes it and pulls himself up, “After you, Edward Nöel.” he does a sarcastic half-bow, waving Eddie forward.
Eddie scoffs at him, but starts toward the door nevertheless. “That’s not even what Eddie’s short for.”
“Aw, what?! What’s it short for?”
“Nuh uh, I already bared one part of my soul tonight.” (“Aw come on!”) Maybe I’ll tell you after we’ve been friends for another nine months or so.”
Steve laughs as they reach the sliding door. “Lookin’ forward to it, Eds.”
Eddie’s about to slide it open when Steve suddenly stops him, grabbing his wrist.
“Wait–Eddie, before we go back inside, I wanted to ask you something.”
“Uh, yeah, sure. Shoot.” he turns to face him properly.
Eddie watches Steve’s eyes flicker over his face. They hover somewhere below his nose before coming back up to lock onto his eyes.
“Can I kiss you?’
“C–can you kiss– What?! Why? When—”
Steve stops Eddie's spluttering when he tilts his head back to look above them.
God. Damn. Mistletoe.
Y'all can't tell me that we're this many weeks in with no Natalia, then we get the "eliged" episode title "The Vanishing of ***** Wheeler" and people are really like "OMG, what if it's Ted???"
Coincidence, duffers? I motherfucking think not.
In all honesty, though, I am very seriously considering it to be Holly, like, that's been foreshadowed for a while, but if it was Mike, and we get like, a full circle Byler moment, I'm here for that too.
But godDAMN if we get Robin, Steve, and Jonathan all panicky and crazy because Nancy goes missing and their all freaking out and trying to find their own way to save her and Robin is just so heartbroken and it's a 4th wall "Fighting over who saves love interest" that would be the cherry on the fucking top.
S1E10: Bottle Episode
S1E09
Lucas was the one in front of a whiteboard now, ruler in his hands as he paced back and forth in the Hopper’s living room. His friends all sat, attention on him.
“The day is nearly upon us. Our first day of high school is in just a week. And if we want any hope of surviving, we need to be prepared. I give you, Operation COOL”, he used the ruler to point to the words on the whiteboard.
“And what does ‘COOL’ stand for?”, Mike asked, arms crossed.
“See? That’s the first step! It doesn’t stand for anything. It just has to be cool. Acronyms are not cool”, Lucas said.
Dustin shook his head. “So many badass organizations would beg to differ.”
“It sounds like you want us to act like the guys who have been bullying us all our lives”, Will pointed out.
“I wanna give us a chance of surviving. I’m the only black kid for miles, Mike can’t shoot a ball, Dustin’s got that teeth thing, El’s sheltered, you’re a wimp, and Max is…Okay Max might be fine in high school.”
“Nice save”, Max said, though her glare didn’t soften.
“But the rest of us are gonna need a plan if we want any hope of getting through the next four years”, Lucas pressed.
“We could ask for advice”, El suggested. “Steve is the coolest person I know.”
Max scoffed. “That can’t be true. He’s your brother.”
El’s brow furrowed. “Brothers can’t be cool?”
“Erica thinks I’m a loser”, Lucas confirmed.
Mike raised his hand. “Nancy only talks to me when she needs to. Holly still likes me though.”
“And you know how I feel about Billy”, Max said. “Brothers are the least cool thing and you should never take their advice on anything.”
As if on cue, Steve came in through the front door, wearing a sandwich costume. “Yeah, yeah, don’t get used to it. I’m quitting this job as soon as school starts”, he said as he crossed over into the kitchen. Then he popped his head back out. “Here’s a tip. Cool people don’t need to devise a whole plan to be cool.”
“Oh what does he know?”, Lucas said when Steve fully went into the kitchen.
“Yeah he looks a few buns short of a baker’s dozen”, Dustin snickered at his own joke just as Lucas used the ruler to point to rule 4 of cool: no dumb jokes or puns.
Robin took a deep shuddering breath. It was all she could do to keep from losing her head.
“We’re gonna be okay, right?”, Will asked.
“Ye-ah”, Robin said, her voice a little shaky. “We’re just stuck in an elevator at the mall. No big deal.”
Robin was never supposed to be in this position. This was supposed to be Steve’s, or Jonathan’s, or Nancy’s, or even Eddie’s gig. But she had tagged along with the mall excursion and at some point the group split and when it was time to gather back around, she had run into Will at the pretzel place and when they checked their watches they realized it was time to meet the others in the parking garage.
So on the elevator they went and it was then that it decided to stop on them, frozen in place. Both had already tried prying the door open to no avail. If Robin was with anyone else, she might’ve freaked out by now. But she was with a kid, so she had to keep a cool head.
“How long until you think they notice we’re not there?”, Will asked.
Robin shrugged. “Shouldn’t take ‘em too long. No way they leave without us, right?”
“Right”, Will agreed.
She sighed and sat down on the floor, her back to the wall. She didn’t want to think about it but Will’s question got her mind reeling. So she tried to change the subject.
“So, you guys are starting high school soon, right? That’s gotta be…exciting.” She inwardly winced, thinking how much she sounded like an out of touch aunt.
“I guess”, Will said, going to sit on the other side. “I’m not really looking forward to four more years of the same thing though.”
“Who said it’s gonna be the same thing? It’s high school, you can reinvent yourselves. You should’ve seen Eddie back in middle school.”
Will pulled his knees up to his chest. “Some things you can’t change about yourself. But I…”, he let out a breath. “When I get bullied the stuff they say aren’t…untrue.”
Robin frowned. “Why? What are they saying?” She had a feeling. A hunch really. But she’d never talked one on one with one of Steve’s sister’s friends about their middle school drama. She knew a thing or two about certain traits that couldn’t be changed though.
“I…forget it”, Will sighed. “Can we just sit here while we wait for a rescue? Or for this thing to kill us?”
“Hey, we’ve gotta stay positive, don’t we? ‘Killed by elevator’ would be a really undignified obituary.” When Will laughed at that, she felt emboldened. “Like, seriously. You might as well say ‘here lies Robin Buckley - died after getting hit with a clown car’.”
“Elevator is better than a clown car”, Will snickered. “But yeah, point made. What floor are we on anyway? Would it even actually kill us?”
“Ah, well now you’re getting into the eternal debate. What’s worse? Dying or having all your bones broken?”
“Do I get to choose my nursemaid?”, Will asked.
“Nope, no pretty nurses for you. It’s gonna be someone like, someone like Mike. Good luck with that.” Robin laughed, likening any care from Mike to being nursed by a flamingo.
But then Will didn’t laugh louder or snort or look annoyed at his friend’s expense. It was a quick moment, but Robin caught the hint of pink on Will’s cheeks. He turned his face away and there was a thick tension in the air all of a sudden. Robin thought of herself at that age. She often wondered how it would’ve been if she’d found anyone like herself that young.
“Hey um, so like, no one ever outright bullied me, because I’m a badass. But sometimes I’d get excluded from stuff”, she said.
“...Like what?”, Will ventured.
“The girls in my neighborhood would have their little dress up parties. And I thought they looked like princesses right out of a fairy tale. They’d want me to dress up with them. But I didn’t want to be a princess with them. I…I wanted to be Prince Charming.”
Will’s eyes got a little wide. “Oh.”
Robin laughed a little. “Yeah, oh. After a while, the other girls realized I didn’t wanna wear dresses or make up with them. No one ever said it to my face. And no one ever really found out, but it felt like some people knew, ya know?”
Will nodded. “I know. So you’re…?”
“Yeah”, Robin confirmed.
“Does anyone else know?”
“Steve.”
“Steve?!”
“I hear them!”, Steve’s voice suddenly came from the other side of the elevator doors. “Robin!? Will?!”
“Will!”, Jonathan shouted.
“We’re here! We’re in here!”, Robin called back, suddenly on her feet.
“I think Steve’s getting an ax!”, Dustin yelled.
“I’m not-Where would I even get an ax? You guys hang tight, someone professional is on the way.”
“Roger that”, Robin smiled, relief filling her system.
Will looked relieved too, like the weight of the world had all of a sudden lifted from his shoulders. Maybe high school wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Tabletop trick or treat! 🦇
hello jade!!
it seems only appropriate for this to be ... a trick!! and treat kinda :) three treats maybe. so everyone lets all go say
happy birthday @hmooncreates
you can check out hollis's itch here for lots of very fun and cool stuff!!
i want to highlight a few of his games even though definitely poke around through the whole library
in want of a match - yall its so fun. its so so fun. ive played it twice now and i cant wait to play again. in iwoam you play as two characters, one looking for their One True Match and one looking for an Opposites Attract. and its ... a dating sim!! you throw all your blorbos in a blender and then they go on silly dates. its a bit of a numbers game where youre trying to roll similarly to the character youre on a date with, and the table decides which traits you roll on your date. we played once with original characters (god they all became such freaks immediately) and then again using blorbos from other ttrpg games, and both were suuuch fun. the character creation is pretty simple but works really well for the game, and then you just put all the blorbos in a jar and shake em up to see what happens. we want to play a third time where we make a roll table of all our characters from other games, roll randomly to see who were playing, and then just let chaos ensue. its not a hard system to pick up at all, great for silly one shots (especially if someone cant make your usual game), and honestly is really flexible with how much roleplay you want to do for it. you can totally roleplay everything out or mostly stick with broad descriptions and just run up those numbers. tons of fun either way. sometimes the characters that end up being great matches numbers wise are like. absolutely hilarious (freak ass lesbians i love you)
for truth's sake series - for truth's sake is a series of games (with a free srd people have made cool stuff on) where you are an anthropologist studying a fantasy culture and writing an ethnography on it. its a medium crunch solo journaling game that has four really cool settings/cultures (urban witches, a werewolf neighborhood, an inn on the border of the feywild, and a high fantasy city) that all have a unique cast of characters, locations, events, and questions you get to ask the inhabitants. all the games are very fun, but i think my best experience with it was playing urban witches when hollis was over at my house and i was narrating my game out loud instead of writing it down. i was rolling SO DOGSHIT and it honestly became a bit of a slapstick comedy of my guy just absolutely whiffing it with this apartment complex of witches. i was weeping i almost lost the game on like. day three. astoundingly bad at talking to these witches. but all of them are very cool and very fun and devs out there should check out the srd too!!! a lot of the groundwork is laid out for you so you just get to make fun roll tables!!!
the fool who got married (extended edition) - this one is a duet+ epistolary game where one player is a young bride moving away with her husband during the 1840s california gold rush, and the other players are female family members whove been left behind. the main mechanic is that you are on a time limit of crane wives and oh hellos songs as you write your letters to each other, with each character archetype getting a different album they have to put on shuffle as they write. i will be totally honest i was NOT sure how this one was gonna play for me but i ended up really really liking it. i chose to play as the aunt and even though i only went through like five songs or something, she ended up being a really dynamic character and also, as is my way, a little nuts. getting into the mindset of these historical women to this modern music was a really interesting experience. so many of the songs like. really tap into female pain and rage in a way that transcends this time gap and really makes you feel for the character youre inhabiting. the lyric prompts under each song are really evocative, and honestly as someone who hates handwriting things because of hand pain the short time limit on the letters was honestly really helpful. this one is definitely niche but like. i really suggest trying it out. it might surprise you like it did me!!
i think hollis's birthday is as good an excuse as any to check out her games, and if you already have & like them, maybe go leave some comments and ratings too!! :D hollis is an up and coming developer and i cant wait to see the next games he has cooking (i know what they are and im chomping at the bit). so go check out!! give a rating!! give a follow!! you wont regret it !!
I've posted Cloud and Hibiscus on here before, mostly as baby chicks with their now sadly deceased brother, Peckington, but after living in my office for just over the first month of their lives, they went back to live with my brother's flock, since that's where they'd been hatched. I still visited them most weekends, but recently they became the last of their flock, and were kind of lonely, so they came back here to live with my flock! My hens had never seen another chicken they weren't raised with, so it's been an experience, but other than some tantrums and pulled feathers, no one has gotten hurt. Cloud and Hibiscus want to do things with my original hens, but are mostly respecting them. They seem to be above poor Pants in the pecking order though, who is always at the bottom. My original hens are slowly becoming more tolerant, even if they don't really want to hang out with the new girls yet. Goldie has decided it's her job to hassle them, and at first she basically followed them everywhere, but now she does it less.
Cloud and Hibiscus are basically inseparable and do everything together, to the point where Cloud freaks out if she can't see Hibiscus, and won't stop yell-honking at the top of her lungs. I'm glad they have each other, even if I hope my original girls will be friends with them too. (Though tonight they got on the roost with other hens between them and seemed just fine)
Cloud also looks like mini Rosie, as seen in the picture above with all three red hens, so I sometimes think she's Rosie if I look too fast. (Rosie is offended)
But anyway, I'm so happy to have all my hens here, and to have seven again, it felt sad with just five, and obviously I'm not trying to replace Thing 2 and Holly, since they were both so sweet and good, but it feels like a good number to have.
I love my hens so much!
