”The word survivor means that we have survived. Something that warrants celebrating. And so, I am a survivor. And that's what I'm first. More than anything else. I have survived and I want that to be celebrated and I want that to be known. And again, I get chills all over my body when I say that because that is my truth. So me getting chills means I'm speaking the truth right? Or spirit is like ‘Yay Santa!’ And I need, or I desire, for other survivors to know that they too, can survive. Right? That we can be, that we can be great. That we can be whole. And we can be powerful. That that's what it means to survive. That the worst is behind us.” -Santa Molina Marshall | Such a precious reminder from one of our course presenters, Santa Molina Marshall, that as a survivor - you can be great. You can be whole. That you can be powerful. That your survival is worthy of celebration. For me personally, I am reminded that the opportunity to spend an hour in conversation with one of my greatest mentors and influences in this work was one of the many incredible benefits I receive from wearing most of the hats of our organization. Effective Treatments Against Post Trauma Disorders
Intense emotions like anxiety, fear anger, grief, phobias or PTD (post-traumatic disorder) develops when emotional feelings are built up inside in the form of belief. Many psychological therapies work on such inner beliefs and attempt to modify them by exposing the irrational nature of such dysfunctional beliefs. In this article, I will talk about some therapies.

As the month of June and PRIDE move towards a close, I wanted to highlight the tremendous work of one of our organizational partners, Live Oak (in Chicago and Evanston, IL). Live Oak offers a variety of professional development trainings, individual and group therapies, fellowships, internships and consultation and holds organizational expertise and competence in trauma-informed care, sexual assault recovery and LGBTQIA affirmative practice. They are supporting and empowering growth and healing from the perspectives of clients, organizations and communities through their many holistic offerings. An example of upcoming professional trainings include: Harm Reduction, Intro to Affirmative Practice with Trans and Gender Non-Conforming People, Using the Body in Trauma Healing, Peace Circles as a Tool in Therapy and Practicing Mindfulness.
