Many people think I hate the church, so I constantly criticize and make fun of her.
Not true!
I don't hate the church at all.
In fact, I owe her a lot. I consider her my spiritual mother in many ways.
But like some mothers, she was too controlling and sometimes even abusive for me to live with her.
I will continue challenging her to be her best self, and to be a safe place for people like me and you.
She needs to give up her need for control, and the use of abuse to maintain it.
That's all.
Would you encourage a woman to stay with a man who assaulted her once in a while, even though he provides a roof over her head, food, and financial security?
No!
We'd help her figure out a way to escape to make a happy life of her own beyond his control and abuse.
In a way it's complicated because we did receive a lot of good from her, but we simply can't put up with what we sacrificed for it.
Do you relate?

Hey all of you strong and courageous people, it's time for another speech! Today, I want to talk about how hard things can be but that doesn't mean we need to let them define who we are. The past doesn't have to determine our future, it doesn't have to define who we are or the paths we take. You are stronger than you realize, you are resilient and you can overcome anything if you put your mind to it. Never give up or let yourself fall into negativity, no matter how difficult things may get!

CONFIDENTIAL PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT PATIENT: Pamela Isley (aka Poison Ivy) THERAPIST: Dr. Misaki Eto SESSION DATE: [REDACTED] LOCATION: Dr. Eto’s Office FILE STATUS: TOP SECRET
SESSION NOTES:
[BEGIN TRANSCRIPT]
The session begins with the sound of plants rustling softly in the background, as Dr. Eto’s office is filled with greenery. From potted plants of various shapes and sizes to creeping vines that adorn the walls, it's clear that this is a space dedicated to nature. The air smells fresh, with an earthy scent of soil and leaves.
Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy): sits across from Dr. Eto, eyeing the plants with curiosity, though her expression remains guarded “So… Harley insisted I come here. Not sure what I’m expecting, but you’ve got a lot of plants.” her voice is calm but slightly skeptical
Dr. Eto: smiling, offering a gentle nod “I’m glad you like them. I’ve always believed that plants bring balance and peace to the soul. They have a way of growing on you, don’t they? It’s like they’re here to remind us of what’s important.”
Pamela Isley: raises an eyebrow, intrigued by the connection “Balance… peace, huh? You might be one of the rare people who gets it. Most people see plants as… well, nothing more than decoration. But you’ve got something going on here.”
Dr. Eto: “Well, I like to think of it as cultivating harmony. I’m part of a global movement that plants trees and greenery all over the world—doing my small part for the planet. Nature’s healing, in every sense. Plus, I’m deeply involved in anti-shark-fishing activism. I believe it’s crucial that we protect both the oceans and the land, or we’ll lose the very things we rely on.”
Pamela Isley: her expression softens slightly, as if a wall has come down just a little “I didn’t expect to hear that. Anti-shark-fishing? You’re one of those people. I’ve seen the damage they do. It’s why I don’t waste my time with certain kinds of people anymore.” pauses, leaning back in her chair, as if mulling something over “It’s… refreshing to meet someone who actually gets it.”
Dr. Eto: “It’s a struggle, but nature is worth fighting for. We only get one Earth. We have to take care of it. I do my best to help in small ways, but it’s always about the bigger picture. How about you, Pamela? What motivates you to protect nature?”
Pamela’s expression shifts, becoming slightly more animated now that she knows the conversation is rooted in something she cares about. There’s a small glint in her eyes, as if she’s finally found someone who shares her values.
Pamela Isley: sighs, a subtle smile tugging at her lips “For me, it’s simple. I’ve seen the damage humans have caused, the way they exploit the planet. I’ve tried to teach them the hard way... but maybe I’m just being impatient. I’m a protector. The Earth’s guardian. And I won’t stand by while others harm it. But… it’s exhausting, isn’t it? Fighting for something no one appreciates.”
Dr. Eto: nods thoughtfully, her voice soft but encouraging “It is exhausting. But you’re doing something that matters. You are making a difference. Even if people don’t understand you, nature does. It listens.”
Pamela watches Dr. Eto carefully, as if weighing her sincerity, then she lets out a small laugh, almost as if she’s letting go of some old tension.
Pamela Isley: “I didn’t think I’d be having a real conversation today. You’re not just some… shrink. I like it.” leans forward slightly, her voice becoming less guarded “You really care about the Earth. That’s rare.”
Dr. Eto: smiling warmly, offering a cup of tea “I think we both know the importance of what we’re doing, Pamela. Sometimes the hardest thing is getting people to listen. But you can always find someone who understands.” gestures to the plants around her “Like I said, they’re always listening.”
Pamela takes a sip from the tea, her posture relaxing even more as the conversation flows easily between them, as though they’ve known each other far longer than they have.
Pamela Isley: chuckles lightly, with a glint in her eye “I bet if I stayed long enough, I’d end up planting something in here. The way you talk, it’s… almost like you’ve coaxed the plants to grow just by being around them.”
Dr. Eto: laughing softly “Maybe I have. Plants thrive on energy, and yours… well, it’s the kind of energy that makes life flourish, even in the hardest of places.” gently but firmly “But you, Pamela, deserve rest. You’ve carried the weight of this world for too long. Take a step back, breathe, and allow yourself a moment of peace.”
Pamela nods slowly, considering her words. She reaches for the small, delicate chocolate candy Dr. Eto offers her as a gesture of comfort and care.
Pamela Isley: pauses as she unwraps the candy, eyeing Dr. Eto “You’re… not what I expected. I’ll think about what you said. For once, I’ll consider taking a real break.” takes a bite of the chocolate, savoring the taste “Maybe you’re right. Maybe it’s time I take care of myself for a change.”
Dr. Eto: “Self-care is important, Pamela. We can’t protect the Earth if we’re running on empty. And don’t worry—nature will be here when you’re ready.”
THERAPIST NOTES: Diagnosis: Severe trauma, environmental stress, possible burnout. Treatment Plan:
Continue therapy with a focus on emotional release and boundaries.
Encourage self-care practices and stress management, including taking time off from activism to rest.
Develop healthy coping mechanisms for frustration and anger related to environmental activism.
Explore deeper connections with nature in a peaceful, restorative way.
Begin mindfulness exercises and relaxation techniques.

It's unfortunate that some individuals may not fully understand the impact of trauma and the challenges it can present. Trauma can have a profound and lasting effect on a person's mental and emotional well-being. Healing from trauma is not a linear process, and it's essential to recognise that everyone copes and recovers at their own pace.
When someone says, "you are still not over that?" in a dismissive or judgmental manner, it's essential to remember that they might not comprehend the depth of your experience. Trauma can leave emotional scars that require time, patience, and often professional support to heal.
It's important to prioritise your own well-being and focus on your healing journey, regardless of the opinions of others. Seeking support from mental health professionals, support groups, or trusted friends and family can be instrumental in your recovery.
Moreover, educating others about the nature of trauma and its effects can help foster empathy and understanding. Trauma is a real and significant challenge, and those who have experienced it deserve compassion, patience, and respect in their healing process. 🌟
People will traumatize you and be like "you are still not over that?"

Breaking the Chains: Steps to Overcome a Trauma Bond
A trauma bond is an emotional connection between a victim and their abuser, formed through cycles of abuse followed by affection. Breaking free can feel impossible, but it’s essential for healing. Here are practical steps to help you regain control and start your emotional recovery:
Recognise the Bond: Understand that you are in a harmful relationship. Acknowledging the bond is the first step to breaking free.
Create Distance: Cut off contact with the abuser, both physically and emotionally, to start the healing process.
Seek Support: Talk to trusted loved ones or a therapist. Professional help can guide you through the recovery process.
Understand the Emotional Cycle: Recognise the patterns of abuse and affection. This clarity helps you break free from manipulation.
Focus on Self-Care: Rebuild your self-esteem by engaging in activities that promote emotional balance and well-being.
Challenge Negative Beliefs: Overcome guilt and shame by reframing negative thoughts about yourself.
Set New Goals: Focus on personal growth and set new goals for a fulfilling life.
Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge your small victories in the healing process to reinforce your strength.
Breaking a trauma bond is tough, but it’s possible with support and self-care. Reclaim your emotional independence and create a healthier future.
