this is a story of a time blue and dream encounter a weird sighting.

they are in a rural village of a relatively peaceful universe, helping people around as usual. on an errand, they pass by a three-story house that looks spotless but also kinda abandoned. but blue sees something strange - a figure sitting by the window on the second floor, a curtain flowing in the wind partially hiding them so blue can't tell what they look like. he waves at the person, but they don't wave back. he doesn't think too hard about it - maybe the person is just shy or doesn't know he's waved at them, that's all.

but a couple days later, blue and dream passes by the house again, and the figure is still there, at the exact same spot. and some days later, the same thing again.

and the next day.

and the next week.

every time blue and dream passes by the house, they see the same thing. now a bit worried and unsettled, they ask the villagers what is going on with the house on the end of the street. the villagers are as clueless as they are. the house belongs to a mysterious eccentric owner who doesn't show their face much. maybe the figure by the window is the owner, maybe they are the owner's spouse, maybe they are a relative. it's hard to know, honestly.

blue and dream only look at each other, more confused and troubled by the lack of information. but they still pass by the house, and every time the figure is still sitting there, watching them from the window.

until one day, when they go past the house, blue's bandanna gets caught in the wind and flies through the open window, into the room where the perpetually watcher is.

"excuse me," blue calls out to the figure from outside the gate. "my bandanna is in your house. can you get it for me, please?"

the figure doesn't answer. they don't move from their seat either.

"hello?" blue shouts. "can you hear me?"

maybe they're immobile?

"uhm, can we go into your house just for a sec?" dream asks the figure. "we'll be quick!"

no answer.

"maybe we should just enter...?" dream suggests, unsure.

after a while, they decide to go into the house. the door is unlocked, surprisingly. the house is clean, but it looks unused. not lived in. everything looks untouched, only adding to the uneasiness.

blue and dream quickly move to the second floor. they knock on the door they're sure the mysterious person is in, but again no one answers them. gathering their courage, the duo opens the door to reveal a sparsely decorated bedroom with a bed in one corner. near the huge glass window facing the front of the house sits neatly the figure in an comfy armchair.

dream slowly approaches the figure while blue searches for his bandanna. he's surprised to find another skeleton monster dressed in a slightly oversized nightshirt, their eyes staring vacantly outside the window. the sense of wrongness only intensifies when he cannot sense any emotion coming off the skeleton. nervously, he reaches to touch the skeleton, but they only flop to the other side of the chair, no reaction at all.

"dream? what is it?" blue calls for dream, worried at the anguished and disturbed sounds his friend makes.

"i- i don't know what's wrong! i cannot feel anything at all, but they're... they're not dead, right...?"

blue moves to his friend's side. he touches the small immobile skeleton, surprised to not be able to search for any soul. they're not dead - not dust - but they feel as if they were. no soul, no reaction, no feeling. a corpse, essentially.

"what should we do?" dream asks, anxious.

"... we probably should call the local authority," blue says somberly, carrying the lifeless monster in his arms. "they should know what to do about this."

the duo leaves the house, still shaken by what has transpired. dream looks back at the place, unsure what to think about it. such a lovely place, but with no living person probably except for a lifeless skeleton monster. what happened there?

“Ya know…Jungkook left his baseball bat in my car. Want to do some real damage?” He wondered out loud, a little breathless from his jog but he wouldn’t let you know. 

“Yoongi…” You croaked, hands trembling as you reached out for him. It was interesting, you had been so obsessed with that shit bag but he had never been comforting, with any problem you went to Yoongi. Yoongi had been your person, he held you as you cried and cared for you when you were sick. 

So even drenched by the rain, when Yoongi wrapped his arms around you to hoist you into his arms, you felt warm. “Why would he do this to me?” You whimpered sadly, Yoongi just held you tighter, carrying you through the parking lot towards his car. You didn’t know how he opened the door but you know that he sat you on the leather seat, buckling you up. Once you were safely in the vehicle he moved his hand to switch on the seat warmers before moving to get in himself, making sure to turn on the heat as soon as he started the car.

He didn’t know how long he drove, all he knows is by the time he stopped, you were passed out. You had grabbed one of his hoodies he had thrown in the back about 10 minutes into the drive. You looked peaceful like you hadn’t just gotten your heart torn out. 

“He was so stupid. He was just some lucky idiot who would never deserve you. So fucking lucky. You're an idiot too. A beautiful idiot who chooses the wrong guys.  Too dumb to realize just how long I’ve been wondering what it would be like to be loved by you, what it would be like to openly love you. God stupid idiot. Why did you make me love you if you could never love me?” Yoongi sniffled, his long hair falling into his face as he hunched over the steering wheel. 

“Yoongi?” You mumbled, having woken up during his ramble. The man looked up quickly, hand reaching out to soothe your hair, trying to lure you back to sleep. 

“Oh, it’s okay. You go back to sleep, I’ll wake you up when we get to your place.” He cooed, gently caressing your hair with an artificial grin. 

“Can you sing to me?” You wondered, earning a gummy smile in response clearing his joke before beginning to sing ‘Life Goes On’ a song he had written and only sang for you. When he slowed his singing into a hum and began driving, you mumbled, startling him since he had thought you had fallen asleep, “You’re wrong.” is what you said, earning a questioning hum in response, “You’re wrong, I think I can love you. I want to, but I’m scared. You make everything less scary but what would happen if I fuck up and I didn’t have you anymore? What if you get bored and leave me?” 

The jolt of the car stopping abruptly had you wincing, especially because of the way the seatbelt had tugged on you. “Now you listen here you little beautiful idiot,” He started, switching the car back into the park in the middle of the empty road, “Under no circumstances could I ever get bored of you, we sit in silence half of the time we hang out and I still ask to hang out, do I not? You do not have to love me; however, I have earned the right to love you like my life depends on it, okay? Romance be damned, we will always be together. I never want you to feel scared of me, because with anything that happens, I will be right here. We will always stand side by side, I do not doubt that-” He was so ready to spiral into everything he had ever felt when he felt you drape your body around his own, hugging him tightly to quiet him.

“I think I can love you, I want to love you. Will you help me?”

Cross My Heart

Summary: Interrupting your dream, you wonder why Desire doesn’t want you around their brother.

(The reader is gender-neutral and uses they/them pronouns. The ethnicity/race is preferably a person of color.)

The dream you were having was quite nice. Well not exactly a dream-dream, but more like a peaceful and interesting conversation that you were having with Desire’s brother, Dream. You were sitting at a table in his library, drinking tea and discussing current events with Dream and Lucienne. You rarely ever got to visit and talk with your partner’s siblings, and the few times you did, it was mostly with Death and Despair. Any time Desire and Dream were in a room with each other for more than a minute it always turned ugly (usually because of your beautiful partner and their antics) so you tried to spend some time with Dream in a place where you knew that Desire would rarely ever want to visit, the Dreaming. 

“You mortals have barely changed over the years,” Dream commented, amused at your stories. 

“Nah, we haven’t,” you replied, chuckling, “I can’t imagine the things you’ve seen people dream of.”

“Mortals are quite...” he looked like he was trying not to laugh at the images coming to his head, “creative when it comes to your dreams. A very specific type of dreams.”

“On behalf of all mortals, I am so sorry for the things you’ve seen.”

He was about to reply when suddenly a shadow came over the library for a brief second and passed. When it did, Dream and Lucienne both shared a knowing look with each other, before turning to you, who was clueless.

“What was that?” You asked, looking up to the ceiling and to the windows, searching for where the shadow had come from. 

“It’s time for you to wake up,” Lucienne answered.

“Okay, but what was that? That shadow just now?” you asked again, looking at them both. 

They both shared the same look again and you wondered what it was that they were saying to each other. 

“You must wake up, (Y/N),” Dream told you, standing up from his chair. He was about to turn and leave when suddenly the shadow came over the library again and passed quickly. When it left, he turned back to you and said politely, “We will see each other again, (Y/N). But now you must wake up.”

“Wait,” you said standing up from the table. “What’s that shadow? That’s never happened before when I needed to wake up.”

A sigh left Lucienne’s mouth at your insistence and she turned to Dream with a look that said that she wanted to answer you, but was not sure if she was allowed to. 

“Well?”

The next sigh that you heard came from Dream before he finally answered, “It is Desire.”

“Desire,” you replied, wondering how the shadow was them.

“They know that we are talking to each other and wants your attention.”

Oh, D, you thought, rolling your eyes. You hoped you would be able to someday hang out with them, Dream, Death, and the rest of their siblings in the same room without any problems. 

“I’m sorry,” you told them, feeling your body become light and your consciousness beginning to leave the Dreaming and going back to your body. 

“It’s alright,” Dream told you, a small smile on his face and his voice echoing in your head as everything around you went dark.

“Hmmm,” you heard humming from behind you as you opened your eyes. Turning over you looked up to see your partner, Desire, sitting up against your headboard. They were humming while reading one of your books, their golden eyes running across the pages quickly. The sight was strange to see.

“You’re reading,” you pointed out, your voice slightly scratchy from sleep.

“Yes, I am,” they said, not taking their eyes off of the book.

“You read,” you asked, propping yourself up on your elbow, glancing at the book to see it was one of your favorite graphic novels, Uzumaki.

“Yes, I do,” they replied, amused at your observation. “Did you think Dream was the only one of us who reads?”

“No, I just never seen you read before.”

“Mmm” was their reply as they turned a page. “I don’t see a reason to have some humongous library like my brother. But I do read. Mostly things made for beings like myself, but every now and then a book made by mortals would grab my attention.”

“Oh,” you said, pushing up from your elbow and sitting up against the headboard next to them, laying your head gently upon their shoulder. “You’re a hot nerd.”

“Shut up,” you heard them reply and glanced at their face to see them grinning. You looked down to see them turning the page to the part in the book where the doctor has sewn the mother’s stomach back up with her baby inside, the black and white image not scaring you the same way that it used to. “I truly don’t understand humans’ obsession with bodily horrors. Lust, anger, dreams, death, I get, but horror is strange.”

“I don’t get your obsession with keeping me from hanging out with a specific sibling of yours,” you told them.

At that they chuckled, but you could see that there was no amusement behind it. “It’s not an obsession. I just don’t like you around him too long.”

“Why,” you asked.

They were quiet for a little while, their eyes still looking down at your book, but you knew that they were no longer reading it. When they finally did speak, the usual teasing and playfulness in their voice was gone and was more serious, a rare thing for Desire to be.

“Dream thinks he’s better than me,...that he’s more important...”

You wanted to let them know that that wasn’t true, but you chose to let them continue.

“I don’t want him poisoning your poor mind about me or Despair.”

“Poisoning my mind,” you questioned.

You knew that Desire has done some unsavory things in the past. Particularly to their brother. Until now you never knew the reason why they loved to pick and argue with Dream, doing things just to get under his skin. At first you thought it was normal sibling rivalry, but the more you listened to what they’ve done, the more you wondered what the deal was between the two Endlesses were. Until now. 

“Dream thinks he’s better than me,...that he’s more important...”

Why would they think that? The few times that you sat and talked with Dream, you never got the vibe that he thought he was better than Desire. Constantly pissed at them, yeah, but better? Never.

“I don’t want him poisoning your poor mind”

Why would they think he could “poison” my mind?

“D,” you said, catching their attention with your nickname for them.

They looked up from the book and turned to face you, and you could see that despite the always gorgeous, playful yet mysteriousness of their face, never truly showing what they were feeling, their eyes always gave their true emotions away and you could clearly see something you’d never thought you’d ever see in Desire’s eyes. Insecurity.

“I don’t know why you think that Dream thinks he’s better than you, but I promise you, Dream could never ever turn me against you. No one could.”

They let a smile grace their lips and quickly pressed their forehead against yours, your noses almost touching each other. “Do you really promise?”

“I do. Cross my heart and hope to die.” Smiling back at them, you leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss upon their lips, enjoying the feeling of being in their presence and having their body so close to yours. When you tried to pull away, in true Desire fashion, they leaned forward and chased your lips, turning the innocent, gentle kiss into something more sensual, but you didn’t care, knowing that you were going to keep your promise and never turn against them.

Hi, I've always wanted to ask you about this, but I was afraid to ask you, but what kind of vision (aka the eye of God from genshin) do you think Philip would get? (I think it's Cryo, aka power of ice) but I'd be interested to hear your opinion. And I wonder how Philip would react to him, for example, would he be angry that Celestia gave him the Eye of God, like 'Do they think I'm that weak!?' or 'Wow, now (almost) powerful and I can do magic to get rid of witches!' or 'Hmmm.. It needs to be studied...' I'm very interested! (and a little scary, I know that most likely this is off topic, but.... TOH + Genshin impact crossover. :D) oh, and also, what kind of weapon do you think he will have? Bow? Sword? Claymore? Catalyst? Spear?? And will he like his vision (Aka eye of God) or not? And if he gets angry and stumbles to throw out the eye of God, but it constantly returns to his hand, and no matter how much he trying to destroy it, it remaining unharmed, will Philip accept this, or will he continue to try to destroy it? (if this happens, sorry for it being so long, I just have a lot of interesting questions! :D)

I think that Philip would have a Catalyst as his weapon! I think it fits him very well to have his journal be his weapon

As for his vision, I actually think that he would be either Electro or Pyro, Electro because of his affinity with technology and his artificial magic looking a lot like electricity (picture below for reference)

And Pyro because we see that as Emperor, Philip has a surprising number of scenes where fire is used in his backgrounds (such as lit braziers in his throne room or when he used pyrotechnics in his memories in Hollow Mind to trick the witches into believing in him.) Either way, I think if Philip WAS gifted this ability one way or another, he would eventually come to accept it as another tool in his arsenal to destroy the Isles. I mean...I imagine he might try to experiment with it/deconstruct it to see how it works when he first receives it, but eventually, he would just consider it another card in the hand he is dealt. A very useful tool, but a means to an end nonetheless.

My little theory (how long ago was the last one XD) is all about their view of things : destiny, fate, everything should be as is should. Except humans are unpredictable, and that scares them.  Which is why, apparently, showing them magic is a crime.

But hey, if Kung fu panda taught me one thing, it’s that it’s on the path where you hope avoiding it, that you meet your fate. And in killing the kid, they just ensured that destruction they feared so much (now, how they managed to not see that coming? Easy! When you’re emotionally stunt enough to think allowing a father to die with his daughter is a mercy, you’re just destined to die.)

Speaking of mercy. Mrs Merciful One! You’ll excuse my foul language, you all, but I’ll say it anyway : Fuck you! Never have I hated someone more in this whole show that this one. so I gotta ask you about this one thing that I just can’t get off my mind and I haven’t seen anyone talk about it. There was this panel if I recall correctly, Doumeki was talking to chestnut (I think), asking about Yashiro, and chestnut asked D something (I think he asked why is hea asking about Yashiro or something) and he replied that he wanted revenge.. what do you think? Is he really doing what he’s doing for revenge? Cause we all know there’s that lady and he’s hella angry (which is understandable) but I’m scared he’s gonna hurt yashiro. I just wanted to have another persons opinion this.

With the benefit of hindsight (now that we are almost 15 chapters further since this happened) I think it's fair to say that Doumeki said whatever it took to get Chestnut to agree willingly to keep tabs on Yashiro for him.

We lack any backstory told by Doumeki, and this memory is the only one we actually get from him and not told to us by someone else. We learn later that Doumeki is trying to be like Yashiro and have a network of informants who provide solid information. For what exactly?? To be the only guy Yashiro needs??? Hmmm... However, he finds out that he'll never be a match for Yashiro's years of experience.

Unfortunately for us and them, they are both a pair of idiots who are so blindly in love they can't see when the other one is lying. Doumeki doesn't outright lie, he just lets Yashiro go on elaborating that Doumeki has a girlfriend even when Doumeki is sucking him off (Yashiro so adorably clueless) because jealousy is an aphrodisiac for Yashiro. And Doumeki just assumes that he meant nothing to Yashiro because he sees Inami's name pop up on the phone (granted, Yashiro should get his butt whipped for that, but he'd probably just like it coming from Doumeki.)

But now, thanks to Inami (oh don't make me be okay with you!), Doumeki now knows the truth about Yashiro, and that his magic curse worked. But it wasn't the curse, actually, it was that Yashiro wanted it to be this way. He's living in a shoujo manga now.

I just wonder if Doumeki will keep it to himself for now, and what kind of dilemma will knowing Yashiro's secret pose to his current job?

But I say it's high time they kissed and made up for real.

I was reading your recent DMD update and I was wondering if the teens ever talked to Leo using his Battle Nexus title? Like do they just kinda go up to him and go “Barbarian, can you make me a grilled cheese?” or do they only call him Leo?

oh geez, imagine waddling up to the renowned Battle Nexus Champ—infamous for his seemingly murderous style of fighting and danger vibes altogether—and asking for a grilled cheese sandwich—pfft

But, honestly, great question!

No! :D They don’t. (The closest they get to mentioning Barbarian is by calling him the Battle Nexus Champ or Big Mama’s champ.) Leon tried once, once solely because he was still annoyed the morning after Leo came back from a championship fight instead of listening and staying home.

Leon tried to play it off as a simple “good morning” type of conversation starter, and he was sorely reminded of how terrifying the Nexus warrior, Barbarian, is.

Hmmm… might be unfamiliar or a little scary (or triggering) to mention to some, but it’s kind of like using an ex-gang member’s “street name” out of nowhere. It kind of catches them off guard because it comes out of the mouth of the one they least expect. (Bad example, but this is the best I can think of at the moment lol and is from personal experience. It was how my cousin, an ex-gang member, would react when me and a cousin around my age pranked him once by calling him by his street name. It was a little spooky, don’t recommend but he was very nice about it.)

Umm… think it’s best I write it? Or maybe it’s simple to write for Leo it’s a feeling of, “I don’t like you calling me that.”

Leon’s happy mood sours when he arrives to the kitchen hearing Leo stumble through the lair and into the medbay. He told Leo not to go to the Battle Nexus, and not just because he still doesn’t like Big Mama. It’s always like this, Leo comes home covered in bruises and scrapes and cuts, barely able to walk into the medbay. Leo rests in the medbay for hours, and still refuses to leave Big Mama’s arena.

Leon grabs a cup of water for Leo and heads into the medbay with a plan in mind—a prank, if you will. A simple, measly prank meant to annoy the elder slider just a little. Just enough to “poke the bear.”

The young slider pops into the medbay, not surprised to see Leo standing near one of the medical wardrobes and bandaging his arm.

Leon looks down to see the trail of blood Leo left behind as the elder slowly rolls the bandage around his forearm. The elder’s back is turned to Leon, so the younger clears his throat before greeting.

“Hey, Barbarian, so what are we going to eat—,” Leon begins but freezes when the elder looks over his shoulder at him.

Leon’s heart stops under the elder’s cold glare. He can feel himself shrink out of pure fear, his blood running cold. All he can think was how this was exactly how he felt when he first witnessed the Barbarian in action that day months ago. Fear courses through his body and renders him frozen where he stands.

The elder’s back has never looked more menacing than now, a gaze so cold-blooded and filled to brim with a lust for violence. He’s like a looming tower, tall and overbearing to the teenage slider. And in a voice that sends chills through the young slider’s body, he asks, “What did you say?”

Leon swallows his nerves and drops the cup in his frozen state. His voice trembles and shakes as he tries to say, “I was just—I asked if you—.”

And like it never happened, Leo’s threatening demeanor breaks and his expression softens. He turns to face Leon and clears his throat to speak in his usual, warm cadence, “What did you call me?”

Leon steps back, his eyes looking everywhere but Leo as he stammers, “I was—I called you. —Leo.”

Leo’s eyes look down at the spilled water and rolling cup, and ties off the end of his bandage. He looks at Leon’s terrified gaze and kneels to pick up the cup. He doesn’t rise but looks up at Leon, “I didn’t expect you to… you know. Sorry about that. Can you get me another cup?”

Leon swallows and clenches his jaw shut. He nods and scurries out of the medbay. His heart pounds against his plastron, beating and beating—beating hard enough to make him think it’s going to burst straight through his chest. His hand fumbles with the faucet as his mind tries to understand what just happened.

That was Leo, right? It wasn’t some stranger with a glare strong enough to kill on sight. It was Leo. Right? Please be right. Dear ancestors, that seemed like a whole other person. That was Barbarian in the room, wasn’t it?

“Leon.”

The young slider flinches, causing the cup to fly out of the sink and smack against the kitchen floor with endless bounces. He flips around in a flash, back against the sink and clinging to the countertop. “Y-Yeah? Yes? Leo?”

Leo is standing in the doorway of the kitchen, his shadow reaching over and consuming the entirety of Leon’s body.

The elder slider stands in the doorway for a moment before he sits down and opens his arms. “I scared you, didn’t I?”

Leon cracks a forced smile, waving off the elder with a shaky hand, “Me? Pssh! No, not me. You didn’t scare me at all.”

Leo’s arms down lower, he only raises his brow and admits, “Well, you scared me. And I need a hug.”

Leon hesitates, staring at the space behind the elder.

The elder beckons Leon once, “Come on.”

Leon swallows and launches himself into Leo’s hug, burying himself in the elder’s embrace like his life depended on it. He hides in the elder’s front, trying to make himself small and looks as harmless as possible.

The elder rubs Leon’s carapace, patting the younger’s shell and holding tightly. His voice is soothing like a whisper as he admits, “You caught me off guard there… I think I’m still a little… riled up. Sorry.”

Leon doesn’t respond, but accepts the apology by hugging the elder tighter.

“I’m sorry,” Leo repeats.

Not bc Grant and TJ didn’t approve, but because there is no way in hell those two would be normal about potentially being in-laws someday.

Oh also Scary and Linc do “goth days” where Scary looks at Linc with big wet eyes and Linc rolls his eyes good naturedly and is like “Yeah okay, you can make me your goth boyfriend again”, and then they go to the mall. Linc has no interest in dressing like this, but it makes Scary happy so he’s game.

Erica Drippins! Scerica was my first ship for Scary, in the early days I was very much on the lesbian!Scary train and desperately wanted them to get together/interact more ((fully understanding it was unlikely at best bc guest pc but))

Maybe… Short hair Scary? I always draw her very tomboyish even within her goth phase, I don’t actually know if this is unpopular. It’s mostly bc I project a lot of my current wardrobe on Scary, and think she and I are both team No Skirts.

also she’s not white imo, which! Not sure if that’s unpopular or not? But the standard canonical version isn’t what she looks to me

• One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

SO MANY THINGS. But I will be good and say three!

I really wish there’d been a scene where Scary got to knock a fish off Willy’s plate, just like Ron did so many years ago. I really wanted to see her stand up to him and then go back to her friends and stepdad like “whoa what did I just do okay lets kill that guy later” or something like that

I wish we’d gotten a followup about that Margarita Pizza thing, she was coming to revenge kill Scary Marlowe!!! and then we just… didn’t see her again til the very end

and finally! I wish we’d gotten to see her interact with her bio dad? Like! To me, he’s a deadbeat who only ever really came sniffing around for money to fuel his habits but! All of that is headcanon and I think it really would’ve fleshed out Scary’s parental trauma in an interesting way if we knew more about Mr.Marlowe.

I feel like this whole part, literally also a reference to Xavier himself and how he's trying to keep up his appearances whilst working behind the scenes to protect MC :v

And this part just... got emotional. The feels T^T

another key note here. In CN, Soren specifically calls out saying that "帮你们。帮你。" instead of EN where Soren only mentions "you" aka Xavier. 你们 is the plural for 你 (you), which is to say, Soren said something more along the lines of "I used my life's work to help you all. help you. to pass through the Deepspace Tunnel to get here. " in full.

I feel this is a bit important as perhaps, he originally felt like he was part of the group which later turned sour. (Xavier did say that to Soren, the ends always justify the means so... who knows what crazy stuff this guy got up to... and then Soren also mentioned how he was abandoned, trampled, etc)

Also the fact that he changed from "help you all" to "help you"... it's like it's referencing where they find Xavier to be a traitor, noting that Xavier has used him... manipulated might be a better word... to get to this time period and caused all of them to be stranded and betraying their original mission. There's this nuance to what Soren said in CN that feels like it's a little lost in the EN line. The point still stands though! Just a little different.

But yes, he has a grudge against Xavier specifically.
