the texas trans ban is nothing new, and that's horrifying
okay this is going to be a little darker than normal but it needs to be known, tw for mentions of SA and p0lice brvtality
the consideration of trans people as fraud was accually one of the main causes the stonewall bar was raided for.
the police had a "three article" policy that made it so that if someone was wearing three articles of clothing that matched their agab they were free to go.
So what did they do if you didn't have any visible clothes that "match" your agab?
str!p searches.
they used it as an excuse to inspect trans people's underwear
what were they gonna do? call the cops on the cops?
we need to speak out before we bring back laws that made it legal for cops to r4pe trans people, before these policies spread, before we get into a level of danger we weren't in ever sense the SIXTIES

devastated by the election results i really thought people would vote a woman with qualifications and political experience instead of a rapist and literal felon but apparently i had too much hope in humanity.

I agree with some of your points! The fact that Astrid is black doesn’t matter, the fact that she isn’t blonde doesn’t matter, yes. That is not the point of the film and will not play a roll in it at all. People complaining about that are typically just being racist and justifying their actions behind a shitty wall of ‘oh but it’s not historically accurate,’ which is plain stupid. I’ve never personally seen anything Nico Parker has been in but I’m sure she’s an amazing actress!
However, there are some very valid criticisms about the teasers, and telling people to ‘shut up’ because they’re ‘shitting on it’ when you see a point that you do not agree with is just blatantly rude. At the end of the day, like you said, it is just a fantasy film and people are allowed to hold opinions on it, whether they be positive or negative. You can hold a respectful, nuanced discussion about a topic without throwing insults at people you disagree with like you’re back on a primary school yard.
And that goes for the other side of the ‘argument’ too. People who don’t like the live action insulting those who do also gets us nowhere, and is also equally as rude.
Personally, some of my complaints about the film is that it definitely slots into the soulless cash grab live action remake genre that has been popping up as of late, Hiccup looks like a fully grown man(Nothing against Mason Thames! I LOVED his role in The Black Phone) and the costume/set design is questionable. Those would be my main ones anyway.
But there are also things I do like! The animation/cgi is very high quality, in one of the scenes you can see a brief shot of Toothless’ second eyelid peeling back, which is such a cool detail! And it does seem pretty accurate to the first film in terms of being relatively shot-for-shot. Correct me if I’m wrong but one of the directors mentioned something about it being as close to the original as possible.
I’d love for there to be an actual discussion about this, I’d also love to hear your thoughts on why you’d like/dislike the live action! :)
HTTYD FANDOM LISTEN UP
Quit shitting on the live-action. We're all going to go see it when it comes out anyway. It doesn't matter that Astrid is black. Black Vikings existed. It doesn't matter that Astrid isn't blonde. It's not the point of the story. It doesn't matter that Toothless doesn't look mad. It's Not a shot-for-shot remake. There will be differences. Get over yourselves. It doesn't matter that it's a possible cash grab. It's meant to draw in new fans and revive the fandom. There are plans beyond the live-action.
Stop shitting on the actors for accepting their roles. Most of them are children/teenagers getting their foot in the door for grander things to come. Let them be excited that they get to play characters they love and can embody.
The movie is not historical l, it is fantasy. It is about teenage Vikings flying dragons and defeating the big boss. It is about friendship and family. It is about finding a better way.
GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELVES AND ENJOY THE GODSDAMN MOVIE.
If you want to shit on it, wait until after you and others have had a chance to watch it. Until then:
SHUT UP
Sincerely all the fans who are tired of the bitching and just want to enjoy the movie

Eddie being shown hugging Ravi rather than buck in this scene has me up in my feels actually.
Especially in combination with the conversation about Eddie being in the army and having been to a lot of funerals like this.
Because Ravi is a physical embodiment of bucks abandonment issues and Buck is watching on when the hug happens but not when the army stuff is talked about and that’s significant. It’s Eddie embracing bucks fear of abandonment when he’s feeling abandoned by his pseudo father and trying to live up to his last words - that the others are going to need him. So Eddie embracing Ravi is Eddie embracing Buck - having bucks back as he always has done and which we get a further representation of when they are carrying the coffin.
#it’s great use of narrative devices actually - Ravi as a plot device is being utilised really well - once we’re in hiatus I’ll explore it a#bit more#the thing about it is that it only helps further set up buddie - because buck is in this space where he won’t actually look at the true#nature of his feelings for Eddie because of his fear of abandonment - especially as he already feels abandoned by Eddie moving back to Texas#(which is not about Eddie per say but about bucks upbringing and his trauma pile he hasn’t dealt with)#Eddie is showing him that he has his back (through Ravi as the representative of abandonment) and doing what Eddie always does - shows buck#that he’s got his back and giving him a source of strength at a moment when he needs it. it’s about showing buck he hasn’t been abandoned#and that Eddie will always be there for him when he needs him - and that is positive reinforcement for buck which will in turn give him#the capacity to actually start looking at his feelings - because Eddie hasn’t abandoned him - has in fact recognised his feelings around#abandonment and has repeatedly embraced them - in all their guises#bucks comment that he’s here now is just showing us that the message is getting through - that Eddie’s here when buck does need him#it’s all a set up for further development of buddie going forward#and the army funerals thing is a play on the fact Eddie didn’t know his army team had all died and therefore hadn’t been at their funerals -#it’s about setting up his return to LA - because he wasn’t there again and he’s going to feel like he abandoned his team before and when he#abandoned this one they started dying - so he’ll want to return to stop history from repeating itself - so his having that conversation with#Ravi - abandonment rep - is about Eddie’s own reckoning with being an abandoner - his feelings that he keeps abandoning his teams and it#leads to their deaths.#I have a lot of thoughts about Ravi as a plot device and I really love what they’re doing#it also plays into the idea of lying to one’s self or others which fits the theme for the season#911 spoilers#911 abc#eddie diaz#evan buckley#ravi panikkar

good god. done some brief catching up of the news over the past few weeks in the uk since ive been pretty tapped out due to focusing on uni and having like. a still ongoing mental health crisis. very bleak that having labour in charge literally seems no different to the conservatives. (didn't expect much but holy hell. it's bad) (giving ozempic to unemployed people to get them back to work? sending job advisors to visit patients in mental health hospitals? REAL suggestions from the health secretary of the uk). and now kemi badenoch is head of the conservatives.

how do i even explain what i want to do with the hex’s story the game is already a big “god(more of a title here) is evil and it hates you” i’m literally just doing that again but worse
#shape game posting#Creation hates itself and runs in circles trying to bite its own tail off. Wows.#I like the idea of cycles and loops and history repeating itself thats presented in inscryption so like#What if that had more basis aside from just the weird self-destructive-yet-never-destroying code#I like when deities are just really pissed off it tickles something in me#I’m NOT religious and no i DON’T hate the concept of a god but i find this fun ^_^#“God” is not a developer it is the software itself. The gameworks is a festering ball of anger#and it imbeds that anger into anything that comes out of it#Its portrayed as an organization in the game world but i do like to think whats holding it all together is its own god-like being#That’s the thing actually making new npcs and characters and stuff#Lets be irrational and pained with all seeing mama ❤️#It does not like anyone or doing anything it made authorities and people like irving so it could have something to speak for it#And it ends up hating him too so literally biggest fumble of all time#< that does not make him sympathetic it makes him worse.#Biggest (early)difference from canon is that it brings him BACK just to kick him around#It can do that btw it just never wants to but it just hates him that much i guess😭😭#Imagine thinking ur special and exempt and above everyone and then you get personally beaten up over and over#So deserved yes boy suffer. Suffer boy. /NOT aff 👎👎👎👎👎👎#shape au talk#< if i yap again. I might. Taps chin thoughtfully

Wasn’t expecting to get too excited about the 2024 Pokemon Presents, but that curveball Pokemon Z as a Legends game with Game Freak taking extra time for development is pretty hype.
Kalos deserved better than X and Y, so hoping it gets a lot of love!
Anyway. I’m here because I want to share my day 1 moonshot theory before theory-crafting goes out of style.
It’s all based on this image here from the Legends Z-A trailer:
Tumblr media
I understand the point of this trailer is to show Lumiose City’s redevelopment blueprints coming to life. But my brain said “Fullmetal Alchemist.”
So, what if this game reveals that the city planner behind modern-day Lumiose (preferably a cunty, femme-coded ancestor to Lysandre and/or Sycamore, let’s be honest) designed the equivalent of an Amestris transmutation circle? Either to reactivate the ancient weapon or mess with the balance of nature some other way to draw out Zygarde for yadda yadda evil plotting.

thinking about how mark darrah said multiplayer elements were being implemented and taken away even back during origins' development. an ex-developer reviewing veilguard and saying they felt the game was anxious, insecure about itself, a pastiche of a bioware game. hm
