desperately wishing Hiro's backstory and motivations had actually been expanded upon in THH instead of just being left up to assumptions and racist stereotypes
and also that UDH had followed up on and meaningfully worked on his character in the way UDG did for Toko
one of many characters inherently held back by the game he finds himself in I swear
#look I love this game and all#but they did not treat Hiro as a character with respect in the narrative#this whole playthrough is just me screaming at my laptop#âDO SOMETHING!!!!â#and then when he is onscreen it's for a comedy gag#many of which miss for me#no I actually don't find the petty rivalries w/ Hina Toko and Byakuya amusing#but that's like his whole character after ch 3#and it's kinda pathetic!!!!!#legitimately struggling to think of anything he does in this game besides be framed by Celeste that one time#and I JUST played through most of the game#womp womp#crane-talk

Tenrou Island is one of my favorite arcs! I love this arc so much. I think this is possibly a controversial take. I donât know. My favorite thing about shows is learning more about systems in the world. I think itâs just so interesting to see how wizards become s-class. This is going to be long. I am so sorry I love this arc so much. Itâs a lot of Cana⌠I ADORE CANA. Plus a lot of Levy and Gajeel! I just think this arc features so many fan favorite characters so well. This is also before The Thunder Legon was nerfed so they have some cool moments. Just I love this arc so much!
1. I do think itâs crazy that they really just throw us into the arc with no filler episodes/arc between. I think this is one of the only arcs that doesnât have filler episodes before or a filler arc.
2. Fairy Tail having a sacred place implies that other guilds do as well.
3. Something I find weird about S-Class wizards is why does the title follow you from one guild to another. Juvia and Gajeel were S-Class in Phantom Lord, but not Fairy Tail.
4. Silly thing time! Hiro Mashima trying to put all the main characters and main side characters on the island.
5. Lisanna and Juvia. I wish we kept seeing them as friends.
6. Evergreen and Elfman are one of my favorite ships and should be a main ship. It should be the big 5 instead of big 4. They were more together by the end than any of the other ships! I LOVE THEM!
7. Oh Mest⌠I miss your silly personality. Also how did he go from ok looking, to hot, to Nastu wannabe. I will be mourning when we see hot Mest for the last time.
8. Why did Makarov keep picking Cana? It seems a little cruel.
9. First Mavis mentioned. Mavis is one of my favorite characters of all time. I love her so much. Fairy Tail Zero is so good and made me love her more.
10. While pacing was my biggest issue for the last two arcs I feel like this is when the show found its pace. Without this arc the grand magic games would have not been as good as it was. I said what I said!
11. If I walked into the route and saw it was Mira I would have just walked away. Mirajane scares me the most out of all characters in the show.
12. Iâm going to say it! I ship Lily and Carla! I said what I said!
13. I never got why Hades was so obsessed with Zeref. Because Zeref literally taught him how to use magic. I also wish we got more info on why he turned evil. Itâs hard for to believe e he would attack Fairy Tail because he was a founder and was like best friends with Mavis. Him being Precht makes no sense because we never get a full explanation on how he turned evil other than he basically accidentally went down the alt right pipeline
14. I will never get over the Iron with a heart in the O. When I saw it for the first time I screamed and I still scream and fangirl over it!
15. Makarov talking Gajeel into joining Fairy Tail will forever be one of my favorite Gajeel scenes.
16. This arc is really when we start seeing Wendy come into her character and she becomes less of just the little kid to a true character.
17. Itâs heavily implied you canât say no to being Fairy Tailâs guild master. We see Makarov be like lol no and Precht being like lol too bad. Then we see Guildarts being like lol no and Makarov being like lol too bad! Then we see Guildarts being like lol as master you are now master again! Like can they really not say no?
18. I wish we could see Makarov in his prime. I know there has been discussion about how the series is going to continue. I donât want next generation Fairy Tail I want to see old generation Fairy Tail. I want to see Makarov and his old team beating people up. I want to see Precht as guild master. Or even early days of Makarov being guild master! I would even be ok if it was like Fairy Tail Zero where it was a one arc story.
19. I do have a theory that Precht made Fairy Law. I donât think itâs stated ever that Mavis made all the grand fairy spells but I maybe wrong. So thatâs how he was able to make Grimoire Law.
20. Another theory I have is that Precht took care of Makarov after Yuriâs death.
21. Now this is an out there theory. I know it. I believe that Yuri called Laxus back to the island. HEAR ME OUT! We know that some things just happen in Fairy Tail especially with the living and the dead. Yuri promised to always protect Mavis also his son was in danger. His legacy (Fairy Tail) was in danger. I also think that it could have been Mavis, but I think itâs more poetic coming from Yuri.
22. Makarov saying itâs up to his successor and us being shown Laxus⌠I am going to call it right now. The end of 100 year quest we will be seeing Laxus becoming master. This would be a perfect way to end his character. This is not the post to get into it, but ya thatâs my prediction.
23. God Slayers⌠oh the magic that was sort of forgotten about. How sad.
24. I will die on this hill. Laxus should have been the Lightning God Slayer. This would had been able to connect him, Ivan and Hades together in a perfect way.
25. This arc also has some of my favorite speeches.
26. One thing about me is I am absolutely sat every time Mirajane transforms.
27. Elfgreen is such an underrated ship.
28. I love Evergreen so much.
29. Capricorn is cool! I really like him even if he isnât used enough. I love him! Probably second favorite spirit. First is Aquarius because I am an Aquarius and she is just awesome.
30. Favorite Juvia moment is when Meredy said she was wanting to kill Gray.
31. Also wow the show that has shown over and over again to become more powerful is to channel your emotions is showing how emotions makes people more powerful. I really donât get why people give Fairy Tail so much hate using the power of friendship. Itâs almost like we are shown over and over again that is literally how it works. More emotion = more power. It also makes me more mad now knowing the show was created because Hiro Mashima was lonely.
32. One of my favorite things to come out of this arc is Juvia and Meredyâs friendship.
33. Honestly Juvia vs Meredy is my favorite Juvia fight.
34. Cana my love. We both have daddy issues. She just like me for real!
35. Me realizing Iâve misspelled Gildarts name this whole time⌠oops
36. Seeing Canaâs momâs will and seeing Canaâs cards being around it. I think her mom also used card magic.
37. Can we talk about how Cana was defeated by Laxus in her first S-Class trial. We donât talk about this enough!
38. I truely believe that any minor inconvenience Cana threatens to use Fairy Glitter.
39. Fairy Tail having grand spells implies that other guild have grand spells
40. Rip thunder legionâŚ. They arenât dead they just get hella nerfed after this arc. Well more than they already were after the battle of fairy tail.
41. One thing about Gray is going to try to cast ice shell.
42. I love Ultear so much. She is one of my favorite villains.
43. Lily being scared of thunder and lightning. Adorable. I love him.
44. I do think Hades being a founder was added later on because when he revealed he was the second guild master he didnât mention being a founder and I think thatâs something that would have been mentioned.
45. LAXUS IS BACK BABY! ONE THING ABOUT LAXUS HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE AN ENTRANCE!
46. We are so spoiled in this arc. We got so much of side characters showing their skills.
47. So Nastu just got the flame lighting power. Honestly donât understand how it worked! But I donât care because itâs cool! Wanna know whatâs not cool? The fact that Wendy is the only 1st generation dragon slayer to not get an extra dragon slayer element. I hope by the end of 100 year quest she gets something. I want cobra to give her poison. Because that would be badass.
48. The exceed side mission is so adorable and goofy. I LOVE IT.
49. To think of Hades just kept his Fairy Tail emblem he would have been able to win the final fight because the tree was restore
50. People say itâs a plot hole that Ultear was able to restore the tree because she said she canât use her magic on living things, but I think it was just bad phrasing and really itâs like humans and animals she canât us her magic on.
51. The Laxus ship that makes the most sense to me is that him and the thunder legion are just a poly relationship. Yes Elfman is apart of this.
52. Another reason why I donât think Hades was always supposed to be a founder of Fairy Tail is because how did he not recognize Zeref as the man who taught him magic?
53. I love Gildarts and Cana so much! I know if Cana told him from the start he would have stopped going on his long jobs to take care of her. He is such a girl dad.
54. Everyone begging Makarov to let them stay and fight is another moment that makes me cry every time. Honestly the whole episode does.
55. Most iconic scene in Fairy Tail is them holding hands and no one can change my mind.
56. Mavis protecting her guild. Her babies! I love her. The foreshadowing of fairy sphere being more powerful than Acnologia.
Tenrou Island is one of the best arcs. It is also a soft reboot of the show. I canât wait for the grand magic games. I donât know if Iâll watch the clock arc. I havenât watched it in years. It is always a skip for me because I want to get to the grand magic games. I know I missed a lot during this arc and forgot to write things down. I watch the show while working on my school work. I love talking about Fairy Tail so donât be shy send me things! Thank you for reading me fan girling over my favorite piece of media! The grand magic games post will likely be multiple parts because I think itâs peak Fairy Tail.

Hi,
Got any Head cannons that we don't already know about?
K Fluffy answers this lol.
I don't really remember which headcannon i already showed and which one i didn't. Specially little individual facts.
So here's a little list of some i think i didn't show and i'd like to explore soon :D (Warning most are sad-)
-Harriet, Sandy and the newbuilt engines: I could make a whole story about this on my tumblr made for the infection part but here's a resume.
Harriet wasn't the only fankid engine. Actually, some others like Edward, Sir Handel, Flora and even Hiro had their own kids. They were built to be similar to them. But most of them, due to being very young, passed away during the infection. Sir Handel's daughter was the first one, she was very new yet but very enthusiastic and wante to help in the railway in everything she could. She was one of the first victims on the Skarloey railway. (Followed by Rheneas)
Harriet and Sandy were the only children engines that could survive to the infection, but of course, due to be very young when they got infected, their bodies will have a price to pay... (Sandy living a short life, around 40 years or less, which is nothing for an engine (That's why she looks like a hamster), and Harriet... It's still unknown her fate, but her parents refuse to believe she will have troubles.
-Salty is trying to warn Mavis about Diesel 10: And you know what this means... Specially if she doesn't trust him...
-Alfred and the loaves: Since they can move by theirselves now, they always wait for him in the morning, and when he appears, they both pounce into him and start nuzzling and licking him like if they hadn't seen him in years! He doesn't really like this because they're a bit heavy, but he can't say no to those fluffy loaf sheep :3
-Diesel 10 sings to Diesel: This may sound cute, he's his father and something like this would be very cute to see! But no... It isn't... Just read one of the parts of the song:
ÂŤClose your eyes, drift away,
Hear my voice, let it stay.
Trust in me, let go of fear,
Open your mind, you'll find it clear.Âť
He sings this everynight, and repeated it a lot after his little fight with Thomas to convince Diesel that everything he did was for the diesels' safety (LIE)
Of course this is slowly making Diesel more and more submissive and easily influenciable. Sir Topham Hatt is starting to worry and keep an eye of him more often.
-Cranky is desperate for Sandy's attention: We all know Sandy is much closer to Carly, whom she already calls "mama", and she always goes to her when she needs help or something. As Cranky already developed a paternal love towards the child too, he wants to be there to help her too, but it looks like Sandy only goes to him when Carly isn't there. And there you have Cranky excited because the little cube called him and then she asked " Where's mama? I wanna ask her something". He then answers with a soft growl "Ask your mother".
Then why does Sandy never ask you anything ol' snake? -^-
-Aiden's first word: Yep! You heard it right! He said his first word already and i will make a post about it surely. (It was "Escwape!" by the way. Great job Oliver! I bet you told him that story too many times!) Though, Aiden barely says it anyway, he just wehs all the time, too smol yet.
-Dallas and her obsession with Aiden and Claire:
She've been obsessed with visiting the other western pups all this time! And she has reasons for that. They're the only other smol engines like her. She likes Aiden specially, mostly because he's able to roll and play a bit, while Claire is still next to mama loaf all the time.
Donnie is a bit tired of her insistence but likes the idea of her bonding with other pups.
-The Nursery: The Steamworks have now a little place specially for pup-care, apart of the main entrance to make it a bit more quiet and calm. Ashley is still there. She likes to help Kevin with some of his works, actually, Kevin wants to be in charge of the "Nursery" and is still begging Victor to let him. But Vic doesn't really trust him such a sensitive job like that.
Dieselworks have it too :)
That would be all! Which ones were your faves? :D

Runaway đď¸ Chapter 1
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7a55e31080305610ae87d96c854b35ad/517d3ecce0bcbdf7-18/s540x810/d3fce8925dedd67b365abe9918d9717277d65e17.jpg)
Pairing: Naozumi Hiyama x fem reader oc
Synopsis: There's no place for women in the world of racing. Let alone rally. Until you show up - the daughter of a racing legend who lost everything out of nowhere - ready to stir the pot of competition and throw fuel to Naozumi's fire, burning wild in more than just one way. Just how far will you go to take your rightful place in the world of rally, restore the team to its glory and change things for the better?
Genre: racing AU, enemies to lovers, rivalry, suspense, a whole lot of teasing, gender power games, dating in secret
Word count: 4.5k+
A/N: Here it finally is. I can't believe I got to write about one of my passions in this way. Though I love rally, getting the technicalities right was rough but I researched as much as I could on it so it feels like the real thing, though there might be some minor inaccuracies, not really affecting the story.
This one has been in the works for a good period of time and though this first chapter is short and fast-paced, there's so much more coming. Trust the process cause god knows I do. I hope I can make Naozumi justice and I can't wait for you to read the next ones. Enjoy lovelies.
Now Playing: Edge of Seventeen - Wuki
Next Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
It's not about how fast you go.
It's about how long you go fast.
Fast like-
A knock reverberated against your helmet, interrupting the pre-race mantra before you even finished reciting it, bringing you back to the chaos prior to the race start. Chaos you wanted to avoid at all costs.
Blinking your eyes open, you took in the smell of burnt rubber and the atmosphere, fully packed with the deafening roars of the crowds in the stands soaring over the music heard all the way to your station. Another voice joined in the noise, demanding your attention.
"Raiko, are you ready?"
Letting out an exasperated breath, you waved off whoever spoke to you and closed your eyes again. "Give me a minute, will you?"
Okay, where was I?
It's not about how fast you go-
A drilling noise came from your right, annoying the living daylights out of you.
Ah, fuck it. Since we keep getting interrupted...
How about I tell you a little bit about me.
Name's Raiko Suruki.
Yes, that Suruki.
Here we go again.
I'm the daughter of the famed Hiro Suruki, five times Japan World Rally Championship winner, consecutively if I may add. Proud podium sitter for thousands of times. Also kind of a living legend of the primetime of the rally world.
The same Hiro Suruki that started one of the best teams in the history of Japanese rally, snatching six more titles under his directory. WRC'S Golden Boy.
After his personal fifth title, he decided he wanted something more. Something that would fulfill him, beside his love for driving at the most insane speeds known to man, and having his first and only child - that's me, in case you didn't know.
Anyway. Without any second thoughts or doubts, he retired from the sport out of nowhere, changing the fireproofs for the laid-back team principal shirt and a cheap very 'dad' baseball cap. At barely 35 years of age, he took the biggest leap of faith of his life and Suruki Racing was born out of fuel and passion for rally.
He poured everything he had into the team and built it from scratch, taking it so high in his prime that everyone wanted a piece of it. Be it driving in a seat for the team, changing parts as a mechanic or simply having shares in it.
It was basically the shit. The pinnacle of rally in the whole of Japan.
The team became a national sensation. So many influential people, from mere businessmen to politicians, even foreigners were so interested in it and helping it expand. It genuinely felt like the only way for him was up, flying like a rocket towards the legends' hall of fame.
It went like that for a while. He was beaming with happiness, unable to understand where all that luck came from. But like everything good, it didn't last. Once he started to question it all, it was like a switch flipped inwards and it all fell to ruins.
Everything started going wrong.
All of a sudden, the cars started missing parts the night before races. They had engine failures mid-race in almost every stage, followed by DNF's on every scoreboard. And those aren't even the most shocking things that happened. You name the tragedy and it definitely happened to Suruki Racing at one point in disastrous, life-changing, career-ending type of things.
The mess piled up more and more, and it showed, despite dad's efforts to stay afloat. Contract deals with sponsors started falling through, losing funding for a lot of parts and investments in equipment. Then the drivers got fed up with the constant failed races and blamed the car or the team if they felt like it. They terminated their contracts way before their terms were up under the pretense that they wanted different things... which were not related to Suruki Racing. The mechanics chose to stay, a few of them anyways, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep going.
The team ripped at the seams and slowly but surely ran into the ground and dad couldn't find at least one reason why it happened. It was like a curse you couldn't get rid of and I saw it happen first-hand.
The late nights he would spend in the garage trying new parts that kept failing with every test on the car. The way he would go as low as begging the drivers to come back offering them money he didn't have because no driver, rookie or experienced, didn't even bat an eye once the name of the team was mentioned.
Lost, penniless and with a heavy heart, he had to sit and watch the one thing he loved the most on earth rust away little by little, no matter what he would do to prevent it.
Mom called it karma for his reckless racing days because as talented as he was, the road forgives no one. That you can be God's favourite and still lose everything. And he didn't want to understand that. He never did.
I was too young to help back then. Too young to understand what Suruki Racing meant to him. Too young to do the only thing I could do to save it.
Until now.
So, let's try that again, shall we?
Name's Rai Suruki, driver for Suruki Racing 2.0.
Another knock to your helmet, echoing in your head louder than the first, brought you back to the real world for good this time. Mechanics rushed around you to finish the set up on the car before you were called up to take your spot in front of the race marshal, which from a quick glance at the scoreboard would be soon.
Looking to your left, you were met with a set of dull brown eyes, messy jet black hair, a funky moustache and an extremely creased forehead for his middle age, all belonging to your co-driver, Don Tanaka. He's another legend of the sport.
Former training coach for some of the current biggest teams in the WRC, with a CV of experiences surpassing most people that have been in rally for longer. On top of all that, he is an even bigger friend of your father's. When he called him up asking for an old favour to train you, he couldn't say no.
But if it was up to commenting, you'd say he was one of the biggest fools for giving up a lavish salary with so many perks for one favour, especially for your old fart of a father. Driving with him was great, but training with him was hell on Earth.
"I was doing my mantra," you reasoned, trying to get him off your case.
"Your mantra sucks."
He is an absolute joy to be around, isn't he?
"Well," you turned to him in your seat with a tight-lipped smile, "you're the one choosing to be co-driver to a young adult at your ripe age of 40. If I was you I would've picked something more calming, like gardening."
Bringing his hand to his chin in thinking, he sat in silence for a moment before he spoke.
"That doesn't sound so bad right now," he went on trying to push your buttons.
"Oh, shush," you waved him off, turning back to the wheel.
If there was one thing he liked doing, it was keeping you in check by poking fun at you. He was like that one uncle you could always go to with your secrets or to ask for extra pocket money, but in return he liked to tease the fuck out of you for it. Every. Single. Time.
As much as you hated his antics, you did kind of owe him a lot. He was the one who caught your talent for racing early on, back when you would drive plastic mini cars made from scraps around the team garage like you had years of experience. A few drifting maneuvers around old tires done like a pro at the cool age of 8, and he was sold on you and your potential.
Amongst all the teasing and the pain of having to train like a man, you've spent enough time with him to know you could count on him for literally anything. He was the best co-driver you could ask for and you wouldn't want anyone else in that seat directing your fate for the world.
He knew what it took to annoy you greatly in order to deliver on the dirt track and prove yourself. Especially now, since you were the only woman on highly occupied male territory.
Racing is a man's world. With as many female advancements in motorsport as there were today, the majority of the community was still not convinced that a woman could drive better than a man or even compete alongside a whole grid of their species. They can regard you, acknowledge your existence, but they would never accept you.
Your father knew your entry to the championship would stir up a lot of unwanted attention, besides the fact that he was basically reviving a cursed team and you happened to be the poster face for it this time around. It sounded like a catastrophe in the making.
Frankly, you were ecstatic to get to drive an actual race car outside of the junior series and helping the team get back to its rightful place, restoring its deserved glory. But you knew it wasn't going to be easy work. Especially, since public enemy number one - the press - was going to try and tear you to sparkly shreds for a lot of reasons. An attack that they started before any official information was out.
A few months ago, when the announcement of Suruki Racing's comeback after ten years of inactivity hit the WRC, the media had a field day with it.
They criticized your father for being a nutjob that didn't know when to quit. They smeared Don Tanaka's name like he didn't make most of the drivers currently selling their dying papers. They even tried to get paid scoops from anyone involved with the team in the slightest.
But the team had one wildcard left to play before pulling the curtains for good and giving them the satisfaction that they ruined it.
You.
The press didn't know about you. No one in the other teams knew about you. Thanks to your father's extremely private life, no one even knew of your existence. The only people that did were your team in the garage that saw your face every single day, from the mechanics to your personal PR agent.
Even walking into the circuit grounds this morning, long hair down over your shoulders, sporting the team gear in plain sight, no one batted an eye at you. Even if they did, they would think you were involved with technical or marketing - though even that was a rarity in this universe - or worse, just another groupie looking to get one of the drivers under your hood.
Your father wanted to give everyone a show they'll never forget by having you drive the first race in the calendar without a proper introduction. No car reveal. No interviews. No pre-race press conference. Just a car and its driver.
This way they would judge your driving before they actually got to judge you for being a woman at the wheel of a three hundred horsepower beast. He trusted you and your judgement on the track far more than the lousy press setting you up for fail. They would get a proper car show and speech after the race anyway. It was out of the ordinary but that kinda summed up Hiro Suruki and his bipolar personality.
The distorted sound of a megaphone, followed by the voice of the race marshal called you to the start line.
"Car 7, Rai Suruki for Suruki Racing, you're up next!"
You could already see everyone turning their eyes to your station, booming cheers going quiet, turning into sharp murmurs.
Time to get this show going.
Rolling up your windows to block the world, you put the car in gear and drove to the start line, waiting for the green light. Looking out at the lines in the road ahead of you spotting the first hazard ahead, the nerves climbed up your spine faster than your engine could pump the pistons for pressure.
You prepared for this for most of your life, but if you were being honest, it all got a little too real now, sitting with your foot hovering above the gas pedal ahead of the moment that could make or break your career before it even started. The very moment that could be a step forward to restoring your father's name, getting the team back on track in a new age of rally racing. The moment for a change.
No pressure, right?
"Raiko," your co-driver called your name, but you couldn't tear your eyes away from the road, gloved fingers tightening on top of the wheel with a small snap. "Do you remember the course?"
"Yes."
"Good. All set?"
"I think so."
"Raiko, look at me."
"You're not my style."
"Raiko," his voice turned more serious and deep with warning. With another sigh into the small, cramped space for breathing your helmet provided, you turned to him. "You've got this. Let's prove everyone wrong."
He was right. You could do this.
Let's prove everyone wrong.
The race marshal started the countdown, walking from the front of your car to the side, each number in the count descending with your nerves. You loosened the hold on the wheel, stretched your legs to the pedals and let out a deep breath.
"3."
It's not about how fast you go.
"2."
It's about how long you go fast.
"1."
Fast like lightning.
"GO!"
A soon as the lights went green, you hit the throttle and took off into the dirt, raising the dust behind you. You skidded off to the side a little due to the gravel but you got control of it before anyone could notice.
Tokai was a pretty difficult course to rally depending on which stages got picked for the day. More forest terrain gave way to hard roads, receding in wheel control, gaining insane suspension pressure. This one was more of an open valley terrain, which was a bit safer, but the later you got the okay to race, the more dust and gravel from other drivers would pile up in front of you, making visibility dangerously low. The corners were way too tight and one second off from Tanaka's directions or a mishap of your footing could cost you and put your car on the sidelines.
"5 left over crest," Tanaka paced you for the upcoming hill and you prepared to release the throttle.
"1 left 100."
Wheels back on the ground, you resumed pressing the pedal as a hairpin portion came into view. The cloud of dust in front of you was chalky and you had to get through it before it raised higher. Putting the car in second gear, you got ready for the drift portion. You had to be extra careful here. The mechanic in chief told you to go easy as the rear could send you into oversteer, throwing off the balance of the car and fuck up the race completely.
Listening to your gut, you waited for the right time then tapped the brake, cut the wheels and pressed the throttle, sliding across the portion. Loud cheers and whistles erupted as the crowd in the stands got up to watch you complete a perfect drift.
"3 right don't cut."
Reduce pace and prepare for a possible road hazard.
You slowed down and sure enough a bump in the road came up. If you missed that one and took it at 120 kmph, it would've projected you off the track, crashing the car hard into the rocky wall like a cereal box. Thankfully, you swerved around it, feeling the car lift off the ground on the left for a bit before it fell back down.
"6 right very long."
Hard left into a tight corner.
"Cut 8 left."
Tight corner requiring you to follow a straight line in the curb.
This was the last and worst corner on the track. You were lucky it didn't rain because this is where your car can skid off into the stands. You caught the straight line pretty fast, cutting a few seconds off your lap time without slowing down.
Following the rest of Tanaka's directions and focusing on the rest of the road, the race finished before you knew it. You liked the state you were in as you drove, mind clear of everything else because as soon as the adrenaline in your body decreased, your brain got bombarded by all kinds of issues.
Did I push the new suspensions too hard? God, I hope I didn't scratch the rear in the hairpin. Was my timing too off on that last corner? I should've practiced it more.
Driving back to your team's station, you sent all those worries at the back of your head and got out to watch the screen showing the score board just as it updated to display the new track times since you were the last to go.
1. Akira Shinkai - Sigma Racing Academy - 1.23.40
2. Naozumi Hiyama - Spica Racing Factory - 1.23.59
3. Rai Suruki - Suruki Racing - 1.24.25
"WE BAGGED THIRD PLACE?!" you yelled throwing off your helmet onto the car seat.
"WE SURE DID," Tanaka high fived you, beaming with energy just like you.
"That's 15 points on the first stage! Well done, lightning strike," he ruffled your hair as you snickered, nose scrunching up with a smile at the gesture you were already accustomed to.
"The car held up a lot better today than in testing. Maybe we lifted the curse," you wiggled your eyebrows at him at which he flicked your forehead. "Ow, what did you do that for?"
"Don't jinx it. We still have two more stages to go."
"But-"
Before you could say anything else, you were interrupted by angry shouting coming from the station next to you.
"I told you to not touch the third gear," yelled a strained voice.
You walked to the side of your station, peeking your head by the team banner, and watched the heated exchange between one of the drivers and his mechanic. Your eyes wandered to the car sitting in the middle, not one hand touching it for the regular post-race check up. From the different strokes of sky blue layered over stark white, the red and blue sponsor stickers and the carbon spoiler, you recognized it to be Spica Racing's.
"It doesn't matter now," shouted another voice, so annoyed and sure of themselves as if they owned the place. "I got a good lap record this time."
"What would you do if you had to retire in the middle of the race?" shot the mechanic, chastising the driver for being careless.
He got up in his face, towering over him though the other was much taller than him.
"We won't win if I don't attack!" he yelled back, throwing his hand in the air to make a point. "The moment I think of being scared I will lose. I won't make that mistake. So just do your job and fix the car."
With that final remark, he rounded the car to walk away from the station but his steps halt once he noticed you in the corner, now standing in full sight just at the line between your stations.
Quickly replacing the scowl on his face with what was probably his natural smirk, he came to you, stopping short of the barrier separating you.
"I don't do autographs, but for you I can do more than that," he says, flashing his extremely cocky smirk at you, adding a suggestive wink to go with the whole menu.
Ew.
Taking a small step back hoping his vibes wouldn't envelop you, you uncrossed your arms from your chest and lifted an eyebrow at him.
"I don't want your autograph."
Taken aback at your rejection, he backed up slightly too and looked you up and down, taking in your deep blue and dark gold team fireproofs and the suit tied messily around your waist. The old, way out of fashion colours seemed to ring a bell.
"Suruki Racing...," he starts doubtful, a little too focused on the writing littered over your left breast. "The shithole that revived from the ashes? Are you a mechanic, a co-driver or something for them? If you are, why don't you jump ships? I wouldn't mind having you on my team instead." He finished his speech of intent with another shit-eating grin.
Who the fuck is this guy?
The audacity that wafted off him must definitely make him popular with the ladies.
"I don't think we've met before," you extended your hand out to him, curt and polite, like a normal person would do, introducing yourself. "Rai Suruki, driver for Suruki Racing," emphasizing your role in the team so he got it through his head that you weren't some bimbo. If you were, you'd make sure your fist decorated his face in pretty red bruises before anything else.
He straightened back, smirk gone from his face in all sense of the word. It got replaced by some kind of curiosity. Looking between you and your palm hanging in the air he looked confused to say the least. He's heard about female racers before and seen some working in technical around the place, he's just never seen one stand against him on track.
Tired of being polite to someone who obviously has never heard about manners, you were about to retract your extended hand when he caught it in a firm grip and pulled it towards him, just holding it instead of shaking it. The move sent you forwards, almost barreling into him when your reaction response kicked in to steel you a safe distance away.
Maybe Tanaka's intense survival program pays off sometimes.
"So," he began and you wondered if he was about to say something intelligent or spew more shit with that mouth of his. He decided to choose the latter. "You're the one driving the Beetle dupe right there?"
Eh, come again?
Your eyes widened at him, looking at where his finger was pointed to confirm that he was pointing at your car and not anywhere else, then you whirled your head back at him appalled.
"B-Beetle dupe?!"
"I thought you were a guy."
Wouldn't be the first time I heard that one.
You took your hand back from his hold, wiping it on the sleeves of the suit hanging on your hips in the hopes that it would wipe off the disgust you were feeling too. It didn't but it was worth a try.
"It's the name," you replied through gritted teeth.
He backed up some more to scan you again, though more attentively this time, like you were some kind of illegality, cooked up from the pits of his imagination. You gave him your best front, hardening your jaw and rolling your shoulders backwards, proving you were more than a pair of boobs and a vagina, which was apparently his deranged first impression of you.
You deserved to be here. No amount of stares from the male specimen, surprised or with sinful intentions, could ever make you back down from this. This was yours to take on. No man could take this from you. Not him anyway.
So, you stared him down too, trying to find something else beside the extreme big dick energy and unsurmountable lack of scruples bathing him in the jackass façade he's got going on. Struggling to see anything else but some disdain in the way he crossed his arms over his broad chest, a rich prick attitude from how he shifted on his legs like the world owed him golden lingos every time he breathed, and some leftover rage from the screaming match with his mechanic still present in the tick of his jaw, you let your eyes meet his own in conclusion of your very own analysis.
Yeah, there's nothing else in there. An ambulant douchebag. Just like I thought.
Flashing cameras were suddenly thrown in your faces, interrupting the intense stare-down between you. The press and some people, potentially fans of other teams by their t-shirts, surrounded you from every corner of the plastic barrier around the two stations, pushing each other over the race marshals that tried their hardest to keep them away. It wasn't long until they pushed over the barrier.
Too absorbed in the chaos, you didn't notice he leaned down to your ear but when you did, you stilled in your shoes, all blood draining into your pounding stomach. He spoke close and low, so only you could hear his words.
"Don't get too comfortable around here, rookie," he whispered, his breath hitting the shell of your ear that made hot shivers run down your extremely clothed spine. "Let's see how long you last in here because this season might just be your first and last."
Pulling away with another one of his smirks that were starting to get on your nerves, he regarded you once more before he walked off in amusement to his cool-down room, giving you a full view of his broad back.
Oh, just you wait -
A reporter shoved into the human barrier of orange and green safety vests reaching the railing, yanking it back and forth repeatedly until the poor plastic seal broke off, letting everyone else pool in around you.
Uh-oh. This wasn't good.
They packed around you like wolves on their prey, all shouting different things at you while shoving their big cameras, recording devices and phones in your face. The flashes blinded you, turning the world white and too bright for it to be natural light from the clouded sky above.
Your hands shot up on instinct to cover your eyes from the flaring lights as your ears focused on filtering through the blaring sounds of camera clicks and voices. Then the countless questions registered clear as day, hitting you like a truck at full speed.
"Are you Rai Suruki, daughter of Hiro Suruki?"
"Where did your father get the money to restart the team?"
"Is your car even going to last a season?"
"Do you consider yourself a challenge to the rest of the drivers?"
I guess that was it for mystery, dad.
Some of the other teams passed by the ruckus, sparing quick judgmental glances or sending disgusting sneers your way like that was the way they initiated your welcome ceremony at the gates of the jungle.
If this was any other series, you would've been so welcomed by the rest of the grid and treated somewhat better by the media and the fans. But this was the World Rally Championships.
Driving was dirty. Talk was filthy, full of disrespect and unspoken trials of envy between each driver. The press competed to see who would get your head on a pike first and parade it as the story of the century.
Most important of all, respect was fought for, not earned.
It was a different game. One where you needed to play even if you didn't want to so in turn you wouldn't get played. Survival of the fittest truly.
You steeled your gaze, waving the reporters off and digging a hole through the crowd, successfully escaping away to your pit crew. Helping with packing up bits and pieces and taking your own stuff, you headed back to your team quarters, aware of the intensifying stares belonging to the rest of the teams still around their stations, talking about the first day in this season's calendar being an interesting one.
You had a feeling you and the team were the hot topic of conversation since you could feel their eyes searing deep holes into your back, burning hotter and doing more damage than flame-lit arrows aimed straight at you ever could. Tanaka wrapped an arm around you giving you his curled moustache smile, sympathizing with you.
Looking up at the sky darkening in mauve and pink, you let a small smile grace your lips. At least today was done. Your rally racing career has officially started. The team was back in business.
This first stage was just one of the many challenges still to come. Who knew what else was on the way?
As you trudged on the warm asphalt, warmed by the mid-spring heat of March, there was one thing you knew for sure.
This is gonna be a long season.

puppy princess | tadashi x reader fic
"... and in a while i came and got your plates and you guys went on the rest of your date i scrubbed cheese and wished i was somebody else..."
a story told in pieces: part 1 | hamada bros' interlude | part 2 | part 3 | your POV #: 2 idiots mutual pining, fluff, misunderstanding, tadashi is here and in full nerd geek dork goofiness (loser simp tadashi), genderneutral (i try) omni perspective, no beta we die like tadashi uhhh yeah we just die; all in some 2k words (TW/ high word count for people whose attention span is fried from tiktok)
(â˘---â˘) tadashi hamada wouldn't say he was a casanova or anything of that sort. of course, he was well-respected on campus and the object of many's affection-- and one might argue thus he has the right to assert himself as such, but such an argument would be incorrect. you see, he lacked an important part: the confidence to go after what he wants.
off campus, he takes on the responsibility of helping aunt cass run the lucky cat cafe along with hiro. in his almost-decade long tenure at the cafe he had come across and interacted with many an interesting and enigmatic figure, but none of them were as peculiar, curious, and eye-catching as you.
you became a regular of the cafe some years back, and naturally because of his feelings, he remembered your order around your first few revisitsâ a matcha latte with sweet foam, light sugar and extra matcha. he would never admit itâ not to aunt cass and hiro, and certainly not to you (you cant ogle customers!)â that he was indeed staring at you every time you came in and that the register was, in his experience and opinion, the best angle to admire your beauty: the way the sun shed light on your face on sunny days, rose dusting your cheeks and your eyelashes charmingly framing your gleaming eyes, the way you looked out the window on cloudy and rainy days, as if longing for something and deep in thoughtâ it was much too excessive and overstimulating, and thus words alone would simply do an injustice to you in describing the beauty of it all.
there were too many an instance where his eyes would linger on you for a moment too long while he was making drinks or drying dishes. many of these instances, either aunt cass had to gently wake tadashi up from his daydreaming, or he would be interrupted by hiro yelling at him for overspilling the milk into the drink shaker. he's contemplated approaching you for anything other than delivering your order to your table, but even the thought of just approaching you made his heart race and a knot form in his throat.
thus, he's never spoken much to you beyond basic formalities that a cafe employee is expected to show to their customers; but a part of him, poorly restrained and hidden, desperately yearned to approach youâsay something, anything, to get to know you.
today, just like always, the jingle of the bells by the door announced your arrival. however, what was different was that you brought someone along with you. this instantly rubbed tadashi a certain way he didn't likeâ he felt a certain way that he couldn't identify nor label. he didn't mean it in the creepy way, but in the many days he's ogled and observed you he's very rarely seen you bring anyone with you to the cafe, if ever. the two of you took a seat at a table near the window of the cafe by the door.
today, just like always, he has to "woman up!" and muster up his courage to approach your table. "hello! will it be the usual for today?" he addresses you first, slightly stumbling in his words.
however, today, he also has to collect himself in front of you and stop his feelings for you from showing on his face. "that's okay tadashi. actually today we were thinking of getting the couple set!" you replied after flipping through the menu and landing on the item you mentioned. it's a set of heart-shaped souffle pancakes topped with cheese foam, powdered sugar and fruits that come with cups of latte, matcha or coffee.
his heart dropped at the order. honestly, he didn't even know that was an item on the menu until you guys flipped to the page. you sure said that with a gleeful inflection... he sure wishes he was the one sharing it with you right now. he was lucky enough to know your nameâ and only your name for sure, everything else was pure observation and speculationâ only because without customers' names, the cafe would lose track of customers' orders otherwise. he mentally kicks himself for his romantic cowardice.
regardless, he swallows the small knot in his throat and forces a smile, scribbling down the order on his notepad. "so that's a couple set for the both of you... will that be matcha or coffee for the drinks?"
"one matcha, one coffee please."
"will that be all for today?"
"that will be all, thank you so much tadashi." you replied sweetly, smiling at him.
your small smile alone is too much for him. not to mention your delightful and sweet voice, your mannerisms, the way youâtadashi moves quickly towards the counter of the cafe, then disappearing behind cat-print curtains that secluded the kitchen from general view and the rest of the cafe.
(â˘---â˘)
as the cafe wasn't very busy at this time of the day, tadashi returned to your table with your orders faster than expected.
donning a beige and brown-accented apron with paw prints, a notepad and pen stuffed in one of the pockets of the apron, tadashi was...sightly, to say the leastâhe somehow made working at a cafe look endearing. his cheeks were slightly pink, his smooth and soft skin dusted with powdered sugar, his dark, straight brows slightly furrowed as he balances the plates carrying your orders in his hands before politely setting it down on the table. let's just say the souffle pancakes weren't the only snacks available this afternoon.
"...the matcha, and the coffee." he noted briefly before setting each iced latte down. "please let me know if you guys need anything. please enjoy." tadashi says shyly with a slight smile before quickly returning to the main counter of the cafe and disappearing. you smile, thanking him.
as tadashi stocked cutlery, containers and drinkware, he couldn't help but overhear the fun you were having with the person you brought today. after all, it was quite slow for the cafe right now, and the only few people here were you, your companion, him, and aunt cass who was in the back.
"and so then..." you trailed off with your companion, chatting, giggling and gossiping over various things. you two exchanged sips of each others' drinks. you even slapped them on their arm in a fit of laughter. you sure seemed to be having fun with them. tadashi made sure to turn his back towards the both of you as the two of you talked about, well, whatever the fuck you two were talking about, because that wasn't important to him. what was important was that you became someone else's before he ever got to court youâactually no, he had all this time up until now to court you, but he never because of his cowardice and lack of experience.
and so he beats himself up again. he couldn't afford to show you...whatever it was that he was feeling, and he reprimanded himself for it. how could he feel...whatever this was... over you? you were never his in the first placeâhe simply got too attached to one specific regular. and he scolded himself again. (maybe don't get attached and ogle customers. this is so bad. what was i thinking? why did i even do that in the first place? how did i even think it was okay? but they're just so prettyâoh jeez, it's actually over. i have to get over it. it's better to get over this than accidentally do something and make them hate me. or maybe i could justâ)
"hey tadashi, could we get the check please?" you stood up from the table, your voice, music to his ears, breaking his train of thought. apparently he'd been lost in thought for longer than since the two of you had long finished your pancakes and drinks.
"o-oh yeah! sure! actually i'll help you over here." tadashi looks up, stumbling over his own words and slightly embarrassed that you had to catch him while he was thinking those things of you. he swears inside and hopes he didn't make any weird faces while he was thinking about you.
at the register, he taps on a screen a few times and helps you with the transaction, handing you your receipt. he shudders a bit as his hand slightly grazed yours as he handed the piece of paper to you.
but he couldn't keep it up any longer. he's held his composure for what felt like an eternity and more, and it was slowly slipping away and leaking. desperation, curiosity and need-to-know clawed at his throat and a question fell out of his previously tightly pursed lips. "a... friend..of yours?" he hesitated.
"yeah. they mean a lot to me, so i thought i'd show them one of my favorite places in the city." you explained, slightly taken aback at tadashi taking an interest in you and your companion since the two of you never went further than the 'please's and the 'thank you's, the typical polite formalities between a cafe employee and a customer.
like one of those insane slice-of-life anime scenes, he has to maintain his composure while he screeched internally. (oh my god that person means a lot to them they said it themself just now it's actually over for me i have no chance i'm cookedâ)
"huh," his brows slightly knit together, processing your words and struggling to form a response. "yeah i just noticed since you're usually here alone."
(oh shit. am i a creep?) things were clearly starting to get out of hand for tadashi now. the combination of his composure slipping and the two of you engaging in conversation longer than ever before is making him spill.
"you notice me?" you blink. your face warms, your eyes widen in surprise and your lips spread in happy surprise. as much as tadashi had kicked and beat himself internally today, seeing such a delightful and charming little expression on your face was, to the desperate him, a rare win in all the losses he took today. your eyes were so much more beautiful up close and your eyelashes were so much longer and prettier than he could ever make out.
(i'm losing it it's actually over i'm sooo cooookedddddâ)
"oh well it's just that you are a regular and stuffâ" he stammered, flustered and mentally trying to reach for something, anything, to play it cool. even his stammering, flustered, uncomposed and off-guard reaction is cute.
"huh. everything was very delicious, as usual. i gotta get to showing them around the city. thank you for everything tadashi, i'll catch you some time later!" you thank tadashi with another one of your bright, warm smiles that catch tadashi off guard, warming him from the sea of his cold thoughts. you shove your receipt into your pockets and hurriedly turned your back towards him, rushing to leave the door and meet with your companion.
(oh my god they don't want to talk to me anymore they'd rather be with their very important person instead)
tadashi is left standing at the counter, alone and quite frankly, the most internally conflicted and overstimulated he has ever been in the entire history of interacting with you. in the span of only a few moments that covered seconds, if not a minute in real time, he's felt abject dejection, desperation, hopelessness, warmth, adrenaline and a racing heart, all at once. "oh...thank you for your patronage, as usual. see you around." he says to himself dejectedly.
he walks to the table you two were just seated at and collects the neatly stacked plates and glasses to process and clean at the sink. he rolls up the sleeves of his cardigan and gets to work. now his composure has fully slipped in a cafe filled with nobody, moping alone as he scrubbed at the dishes.
"i'm scrubbing cheese and wishing i were somebody else. how sad can this get?"
"
[A/N sorry i assumed what you, the reader, liked for the matcha latte regular order part etc. i had to do it for the immersion and how people remember all the little details that is what makes love so endearing. tadashi is here and i won't take anything else for an answer. i havent written a proper fic for like so long if this perspective is weird yeah idc i never learned how to write fic properly and its been so long anyway so please feel free to put in requests i can't just be writing about tadashi. or well no actually i can]

Happy birthday to my favorite pokemon game, LEGENDS ARCEUS! I can't believe it's been 3 whole years! Here's one of my favorite teams i've used in pokĂŠmon! Hiro the Typhlosion, Aslan the Wyrdeer, Mariano the Overqwil, Spencer the Steelix, Beatrice the Ursaluna and Mr.Reus the Basculegion!
Some extra little lore about this one drawing below, if you want to know.
This is actually an almost 3 year old WIP (would've been 3 years in May) that i've been working on and off ever since i finished PLA. Whole lot of characters, you know? But so many other ideas got in the middle of it (3 years worth of ideas!!) I got way better at art too, and I went working on this bit by bit during those 3 years, today this still got that "My old art" energy even if i've JUST put it all together right now. And I did because I happened to come across the Birthday news, somehow my inspiration went crazy and I had to try to kill my dragon, TODAY. (I didn't have to do A Loooot, but I had to do more than I expected, the positioning was specially difficult to figure out, but i DID IT)
It feels surreal to finally call this finished, but even if it's Old Art by now, essentially... (The base drafts were made forever ago) i'm still very proud of it, it makes me happy to look at, and i'm glad I just Happened to know that today was the PLA birthday, cuz it pushed me to finally finish this)

Bnha Season 7 Interview: Shimono Hiro (Dabi) and Uchiyama Koki (Shigaraki)
Animate Times released an interview with the Japanese voice actors for Dabi (Shimono Hiro) and Shigaraki (Uchiyama Koki) to talk about season 7, which will begin to release in May.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/79611f4508b8fb405beba9928d3c4abd/57745c6574160dbb-22/s540x810/fbed2655e74fa60f49726210f6b98b5e8629617b.jpg)
Below is a quick translation of the interview, where they reflect on their characters' developments, season 6 and talk a bit about the upcoming season.
Q = Question UK = Uchiyama Koki (Shigarkiâs VA) SH = Shimono Hiro (Dabiâs VA)
Q: Looking back to season 6, what are some of the most memorable scenes?
UK: Season 6âŚ
SH: There were too many. For me, itâs definitely "Dabiâs Dance" (ep. 124). It was really painful that I couldn't say anything until then! It was the moment when I could finally let it out. Just as Touya was training at Sekoto Peak over and over again, I read the original story many times. Various things happened in season 6, but I think "Dabiâs Dance" is the best.
Q: What was the recording process like at that time?
SH: I recorded it together with Inada Tetsu (Endeavor) and Kaji Yuki (Shouto). More than anything, I was looking forward to the fight scene with Endeavor and Shouto in âDabiâs Danceâ, so I approached the recording with the feeling that regardless of the order or how many times I had to perform the sequence of events, I would do it. So when the recording was over I thought âItâs already over? Are we only recording this 2-3 times?â I always felt restricted when playing Dabi and wasnât sure how to play him. Heâs not the loud type and even though I donât know what heâs thinking, but he says things that seem to make sense (laughs).
Q: You were exploding with feelings in âDabiâs Danceâ, right?
SH: I enjoyed that confession. And I think he had to block those complex feelings inside of him, so now he can only think of throwing everything inside of him against his father.
UK: Yeah.
SH: To me, because Dabi has died once before, he doesnât think about continuing to live or what happens after he reaches his goal. That is why he goes by âDabiâ. That is why he can do nothing but think about throwing his entire strength, body, and soul at this.
Q: So there are no changes in performances in season 7?
SH: No. Iâm glad weâre able to produce various things.
Q: Aside from âDabiâs Danceâ, âThe Wrong Way to Put Out a Fireâ (ep. 130) is also quite memorable.
SH: When I read the manga, I came to understand âso this was the reasonâ. Aside from Dabi, the LOV members each have their personal story. To me, a feeling of âArenât we (the villains) right? Aren't they righteous?â developed when I saw that.
Q: Surely, when I watched the villainsâ stories, that much conviction was conveyed.
SH: It holds a different weight, doesnât it? That is to say, I wonder with what kind of feeling towards us the heroes will arrive at the final battle. At the current stage, the villainâs feelings are stronger and they are fairly strong, too. We are sure to win (laughs).
Q: Uchiyama, do you also think you will defeat the heroes?
UK: Of course, that has been my intention since my first appearance. I think some of the viewers and readers donât think well of me because of my position as villain, but I play my characters with the thought that the characters act based on their beliefs.
Q: Uchiyama, how do you feel looking back on season 6?
UK: When I read the manga, I was impressed by the development of Shigaraki being taken over by All For One. At the same time, I wondered how it would be portrayed in the anime. There was one scene where I had to put my voice on top of Otsuka Akio (All For One). That was a difficult part to perform, so that left a big impression on me.
Q: What was the recording like?
UK: Otsuka recorded it first, so I listened and traced the recording at home. When I heard his recording, I felt the strength of the material and the way of his inflection was unique. I remember hearing his voice over and over again.
Q: Once again, what is your impression of each otherâs character?
UK: When he first appeared, I wondered whether Dabi would become our friend [TL note: the word he used is nakama, which can be translated as companion, friend, partner, etc.] from now on, he was a constant mystery. While I had a feeling that many things would be revealed after that, I still had a feeling that he was mysterious.
Q: When he first appeared (in the anime) his true identity still hadnât been revealed in the manga yet.
SH: As the performer, I wouldâve liked to be told, because I also kept thinking he is such a mystery (laughs).
UK: Thatâs right. He was also allowed to move fairly freely within the LOV, so he would suddenly disappear and whatnot. I also found that to be very mysterious.
Q: Being allowed to move freely might mean that Shigaraki trusts him to a certain degree, right?
UK: I wonder. The members of the LOV, especially during the early days, didnât match friendship or bonding at all. So itâs hard to tell whether there was a feeling of trust.
SH: Rather than a relationship of trust, itâs more a correspondence of interests. While there are people that try to accomplish something with everyone, there are also people like Dabi. I think that freedom is the good thing about the LOV.
Q: Shimono, what is Shigaraki like from your point of view?
SH: It might just be my own personal impression, but I think that before fusing with All For One, Shigaraki was a little cuter [TL note: the word here is used kawairashisa, which is slightly different from kawaii in that itâs a bit more objective. A cuteness that everyone can see rather than being based on oneâs feelings].
UK: Well, certainly in the early stages he seemed more juvenile.
SH: Thatâs right. While there was a time when he was childish and cute when talking to Dabi, he isnât cute [TL note: here he just uses the negative form of kawaii lol] at all anymore (laughs).
Q: laughs
UK: He has ended up becoming a properly adult man.
SH: Adult man (laughs). But he has someone transcended, hasnât he? Dabi has for the most part too, butâŚâŚâŚ.
UK: Itâs because Shigaraki lived despite being met with Prominence Burn.
SH: Right, right. Thatâs how strong his attachment to what he himself wants to accomplish must be.
Q: Has there been any change in your performance during the series?
UK: Because the series has been continuing for a long time, while continuing with the impression of the characters up until now, changes get added alongside the story. As Shimono mentioned before, the inside of the characters changed and during important parts so did their appearance, so I changed my acting accordingly. I am now quite aware of his strength due to his strong physique. In the early days, I was also very aware of his juvenility, so the way I voice him and all is different now.
SH: I have been accumulating things until season 6 and thought about how to get them out. When that time finally came, I had a lot of fun. I thought: âI can finally talk a lot!â All the more because as a voice actor, I had to continue not to talk or raise the excitement. I think there will be more suffering and pain now. I myself try not to fall behind on taking care of my throat.
Q: What are some things to look out for in season 7?
UK: I think the battle with Star and Stripe in the early parts is a highlight. Shigaraki is struggling against his opponent Star and Stripe, so his ego is still being shaken. It was a challenge for me to portray the new character from the fusion of Shigaraki and All For One, but it was tough since the battle began at full throttle.
Q: The battle with Star and Stripes looks even more animated than before, doesnât it.
UK: The battle was very interesting in the manga, so I was very surprised by how they animated it. I want you to look forward to watching it, because from the animation to the character of Star and Stripe herself, there are many strong highlights.
Q: What about you, Shimono?
SH: After âDabiâs Danceâ we learn that Dabi = the oldest son of the Todoroki family, and now he has to fight his dad and little brother again. Weâre about to reach the final battle, and when I read the manga I was overcome with many feelings. But I thought that if Iâm concerned about that, I might not be able to play Dabi. Even if I had to break my throat, in any case I was ready to give it my all.
Q: I am looking forward to what kind of feelings Shouto will hold during this.
SH: When everyone, including Dabi, felt hopeless, only Shouto hadnât lost his hope. Now, Shouto is trying to defeat Dabi with his own determination and honest feelings, so I want you to pay attention to the relationship between Dabi and Shouto.Â
Q: I think there will be changed on the villain side during season 7?
SH: There are again characters whose backgrounds are being shown.
UK: I think I can show even more strength as Shigaraki.
SH: The villains have the upper hand to begin with, so I wonder what kind of resolution will be drawn from here on.
UK: They are superior, arenât they?
SH: What will the story of each of their battles be, like the one between Dabi, Endeavor and Shouto? I want you to pay attention to things like the clash of feelings.
Q: How do you feel about seeing the heroes outnumbered?
UK: The hero side is crumbling, isnât it?
Everyone: (laughs)
UK: Itâs a situation where you canât see the light. Since itâs also shown that each country is reluctant to send their heroes to Japan, because protecting their own countries is important, I think that aspect also conveys that Japan is in a very difficult situation. Rather, the hero side has no more cards to play.
SH: It sure is falling apart, isnât it?
UK: Itâs already a certain victory (laughs).

For the ship ask! Iâm very, very curious how you feel about AKAM.
thank you for the ask!! <33 (this is for this ask game)
Ship: AKAM
thank you for asking about akam, i have lots of thoughts uwu <3 the verdict is, i ship!! less as an "endgame" (and i'll explain why in unpopular opinions) than i did before, but i find it undeniable that furuya, as a character, is completely obsessed with this man... completely. it's like an infatuation, even if he denies.
1. What made you ship it?
i am not sure if it was M20 or going through the scarlet showdown again while liking furuya's character. it's a bit weird now that furuya is a top blorbo for me, but i genuinely loathed furuya when he first appeared, and i simply wasn't invested in akai either at the time, so i had a "why do we even care about bourbon? he's not even after conan" attitude on first read.
but once i did start to enjoy furuya, a lot, it was impossible not to notice that oh boy, he's completely unhinged about akai, and his motivations are just...incredibly gay the more you think about it?? incredible.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
they have a lot of strong points:
the "you want to fuck me so bad it makes you look stupid" aspect. akai just de-activates furuya's ability for thought and i love it! the ferris wheel fight was an example, but i also rly liked furuya's "i'm gonna prove to you akai is alive in ONE day" to vermouth and then charging into a stranger's house with a whole PSB team and zero evidence. amazing work
the fact that they both know how it feels to have been in the BO, they even share (at least some) grief over hiro, so once the misplaced resentment is cleared, there is room for much silent, mutual understanding between them.
it's one of those ships where they could really make each other worse. i don't think akai helps furuya's neuroticism in any way with his ever placid ways and constant cool. it only aggravates it, burns furuya up, and that makes for an extremely fun, chaotic ship in that sense (for me).
akai "-kun"'s him. he's furuya rei-kun or amuro-kun, sometimes. there's a small dog (furuya) yapping at big dog (akai) dynamic going on between them, for sure.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
i used to think akam was the perfect endgame ship for me and was convinced that akai didn't want to tell furuya the truth so as to not hurt him (đ) and then, i was given the alternative that "maybe he uh, can't bother" and was like "huh." I think it was sparked by friends, but i started to look deeply again at how akai reacts to furuya instead of the other way round, and thought that ah, furuya is surely a great endgame for akai (akai men like to be pushed around, so i think furuya's bossiness is not a problem), but will furuya's need for attention be satistified by akai, given both their personalities?
so nowadays, i see akam as the hottest love affair, and what furuya needs to chill out and heal a bit from the hiro grief, but less as an endgame ship for me. i see akai as the man furuya wants but could "never have wholly", simply because, akai now has many people he cares about deeply and he is now living his best life like that. (and even then, he won't show his care very openly, even if he cares) and that view of akam is probably unpopular.
i do have happy endgame scenarios for akam even now, but they tend to involve a 3rd one in a romcom fashion, usually kazami, and with kazami as the "center piece", not furuya (can you imagine). a scenario where, akai "i honeypot once and fall in love" shuuichi honeypots kazami and kazami is like "he's a nice bloke unlike what i've been told" and then akai is like "oh no. i might be having a Feeling" (jodie: gdi shuu, you cant catch feelings each time), and furuya is just outraged because now akai is even going after his right-hand-man, and "this is why i can't have nice things. akai shuuichi ruins everything" and [huge amount of development i wont get into] but the 3 of them end up together. So yes, a romcom scenario, not too serious, very silly, but i love it dearly.
#akam#replies#dcmk#meitantei conan#thanks for this ask anon#this was a lot of fun#ask pota about ships#i do believe now that akai catches feelings easily#and that view is influenced by friends who love akai and made me see his good points

Series Masterlist - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
### 2nd POV ###
Hisses of pain escaped your lips as you tugged wires out from your shoulder. You slumped into your chair and gave one more tug, and with a click the wires disconnected from your arm. You removed the prosthetic from its place and gently laid it on the table in front of you.
It would need replacing soon... you sighed and ran your hand through your hair, trying to reach for a cloth from the table with your other hand before realising that arm was not connected to your body. You rolled your eyes at yourself and took your hand from your hair to grab the cloth, wiping the prosthetic arm down and cleaning dirt out of all the grooves.
Wasting as little time as possible, you began to break it down, replacing wires, and testing joints. You could feel the metal in your shoulder trying to reach out and rebuild what was missing, but you did your best to ignore it and instead sped up your fixes.
You looked down only to see metal slowly coiling around itself to form the very beginnings of a new arm. You quickly discarded your tools and gathered together the pieces of your arm, carefully putting them back together before reattaching your arm to your body with an uncomfortable ache. The wires put themselves back into place and you felt electricity flow through your arm again. You moved it slowly and it seemed to be a little better than before, but not much.
As you stood up, a text message covered your vision and distracted you. Someone had sent you their location - their live location. The sender had their ID hidden, but they werenât exactly far.
You debated with yourself for a moment, trying to think logically. The likelihood of this being dangerous was low since not many people at all had access to your number, but was it really worth the risk?
Regardless, you found yourself opening the message and grabbing your helmet off the table.
### Honey Lemon's POV ###
The car slowed to a stop, and caught in the headlights were Hiro and... Baymax? Wasabi turned off the vehicle and we all got out at once.
âNo, no, no!â Hiro said, clearly panicking, âGet out of here! Go!â
âDude, what are you doing out here?â Wasabi asked him. We were all slowly walking toward him despite him wanting us to leave.
âNothing! Just out for a walk. Helps my pubescent mood swingsâŚâ though it was very obvious he was lying and I was so worried for the boy.
âIs that Baymax?â Wasabi asked, and Gogo walked over to the robot, observing him closely.
âWhy is he wearing carbon fibre underpants?â She asked, pointing at the robot in question.
âI also know karate,â Baymax added, not understanding our confusion.
Gogo threw a concerned look at Hiro, but we all looked behind the car once we heard a loud noise approaching. Someone on a motorcycle pulled up next to the car, and the second they removed their helmet, I felt my heart stop for a moment. Iâm sure Gogoâs did too.
It was (y/n). They looked at us all through their prosthetic eyes with a raised eyebrow, until their eyes landed on Hiro who stood with a confused expression. They stared at Hiro for a second longer and then sighed, waiting for someone to say something.
âYou need to go, all of you need to go,â Hiro tried again, pleading with us, but I didnât want to see him do this to himself.
âNo, don't push us away, Hiro, we're here for you.â I said, placing a hand on his shoulder, âThat's why Baymax contacted us.â
âOh great, I got messaged by a robotâŚâ I heard (y/n) mumble as they ran a gloved hand through their hair.
âThose who suffer a loss require support from friends and loved ones.â Baymax stated, moving so we all stood in a semi-circle with (y/n) off to the side a little.Â
âWho would like to share their feelings first?â Hiroâs protests were ignored, he needed this.
âOoh. I'll go!â Fred practically lept into the middle of the semi-circle and cleared his throat, âOkay, my name is Fred, and it has been 30 days since my last- Holy mother of Megazon!â
We all looked up to see a man dressed in black holding a shipping container above us, looking very menacing. I slowly raised my phone and took a picture, the camera flash startling the masked man.
As the container fell down, Hero. Gogo, Fred and I all tried to run from underneath it, but Wasabi froze. And screamed like a little girlâŚ
Baymax was holding the container up though, and was pushing it back so it didnât crush us. Hiro instructed us to get in the car, and we all did without question, with Gogo running back to get Hiro when he didnât follow us.
At this point I had lost track of (y/n), but I spotted them again once I was in the car. There was a red glow emanating from their chest and arm - underneath their clothes - and their black gloves started to burn away at the fingertips.
I didnât have time to process much else as they threw red lightning from their hands. It didnât hit the man in the mask directly, but it hit the bots he was controlling. It seemed to stop them all for a moment. But there was no time for questions.
âOkay, now move!â (y/n) yelled, starting up their motorcycle and turning themself around. Wasabi started up the car at (y/n)âs command, despite Hiroâs protesting. Baymax flew through the air and landed on the roof of the car, leaving a Baymax-shaped dent in the roof. The masked man had got his bots back, and I was vaguely aware of (y/n)âs yelling from outside the car.
Wasabi started driving in reverse as quickly as he could, and Gogo was interrogating Hiro about the situation. (y/n) was ahead of us - technically behind - and bots came flooding towards us. Hiro yelled for Baymax to do something, and once he did the car spun uncontrollably, almost hitting (y/n).
Once Wasabi had control of the car again, a chase ensued.
âHard left!â Gogo yelled, and Wasabi reacted as quickly as he could, yelling as he turned. In the back of the car, we were being thrown around as we had neglected to strap in from the panic of escaping. (y/n) was now behind us, keeping up with the car surprisingly well.
Fred stared out the back window next to me, watching the masked man as he chased us.
âThat mask, the black suitâŚâ Fred spoke out loud, âWe're under attack from a supervillain, people!â I shook my head vigorously, hoping this all wasn't real.
Then Wasabi broke. Hard. My head nearly whacked against the back of the seat in front and I think (y/n) nearly drove into the back of the car.
âWhy are we stopped?â Gogo asked.
âThe light's red!â
âThere are no red lights in a car chase!â I could tell Gogo was getting increasingly annoyed at Wasabiâs high-speed, high-pressure driving skills.
A phone rang somewhere and then stopped after two rings, I picked up my own phone even though it wasnât my ringtone. Before I could even look at my screen, something was put in front of my face.
âHoney, hold this,â Gogo instructed as she handed me her own phone. There was a call on loudspeaker - it was (y/n).
âWhat the hell, guys?â they yelled. I looked out the window and saw them to the side of the car, keeping somewhat close to us but far enough away so that we couldnât hit them.
âWhy is he trying to kill us?â Wasabi asked, he then stuck his head out of the windows and yelled the same question but now directed at the masked man, âWhy are you trying to kill us?â
âIt's classic villain, we've seen too much!â Fred immediately said.
âLet's not jump to conclusions. We don't know he's trying to kill us.â I spoke up, trying to keep things positive.
Fred then shouted something and I saw a car had been thrown at us. (y/n) swerved out of the way in one direction and we severed in the other.
âHe's trying to kill us!â I yelled before thinking.
âHoney, calm down!â (y/n) shouted back through the call, I looked out of the back window and saw they were behind us again.
âDid you just put your blinker on?â Gogo asked in response to the green flashing light in the front.
âWasabi, oh my God!â (y/n) said through the call.
âYou have to indicate your turn! It's the law!â Wasabi replied to the two in defence.
âThat's. It.â Gogo took her gum out of her mouth and stuck it to the dash. She pulled Wasabiâs seat back and sat practically on him.
â(y/n),â she yelled so the phone would pick her up, âstick with me,â
âGotcha.â and that was the calmest Iâd ever heard them speak.
Gogo then put the car into four-wheel drive and sped up - a lot.
(y/n) veered around corners, either behind us or next to us, it was as though they knew exactly what direction Gogo would turn next. We fled down roads and alleyways, the weight of the situation only just keeping up with the car. I didnât think we were even going anywhere, just trying to shake this evil guy off our tail.
As we turned another corner, the man in the mask appeared in front of us and Gogo sucked in a sharp breath through her teeth. There was a lip on the side of the road and a bridge behind where the villain waited for us.
âGogo Tomago, donât you dare-â (y/n) shouted through the call, Gogo either didnât hear them or ignored them as she turned the car sideways and it flew through the air, narrowly missing all the microbots. I caught Max jumping off his motorcycle midair from the corner of my eye, and I screamed as the car jolted and we landed back on road. Then there was a thud from the roof.
âOpen a window in the back!â (y/n) asked from the call, and I wound my window all the way down. The call ended after that and I worried I had broken Gogoâs phone for a second, but (y/n) crawled in through the window from the roof like some weird contortionist.
âStop the car! Baymax and I can take this guy-â Hiro climbed into the front of the car and leaned on the door, only for the door to be ripped off by microbots that were most likely aiming for (y/n). Baymax caught Hiro before he could fall, returning him to his seat and strapping him in.
âGogo, my bikeâŚâ (y/n) mumbled as they slumped down into the seat next to me.
âIâll get you a new one,â Gogo replied, too focused on driving.
She sped up even more as we approached a level crossing, and she made it through with expert skill - narrowly missing the oncoming train - and a lot of scared yelling from the passengers. There was now a train between the masked man and us.
âDid we lose him?â I asked, hopeful that this might be over.
âLook out!â Wasabi yelled before I could get any answer, a tunnel of microbots forming around us. Gogo sped up to the carâs absolute limit and kept driving, but the microbots formed around us at an equal speed.
âBaymax, hold on!â Hiro instructed the robot on the roof.
âWeâre not gonna make it!â Wasabi said, and I countered this with my own.
âWeâre gonna make it!â It was more for me than everybody else, though I wasnât sure how much I believed it.
Everyone in the car - other than Gogo and (y/n) - screamed as we broke through the end of the tunnel and onto⌠a pier.
Gogo slammed the breaks, but the car didnât slow in time.

Call of the Engines AU - Masterpost
(also known as my humanized AU)
What is the Call?
When an engine is built, it becomes attached to a random human (but it is usual for said human to be from the same country an engine is built). Said human undergoes a process known as "engine bonding" where their senses become one with the engines until they become an extension of said engine; this process can take anywhere from 1 day to months after the engines has been finished.
After the engine bonding is completed, the humans will experience what they've named as "The Call", where their connection with their engines becomes stronger and they're overwhelmed with the urge to leave everything behind and go looking for their engine; this process can take up to a month, and no matter how strong an individual's will is, the Call cannot be ignored.
Who are the Called?
Called is the term the bonded humans use to describe themselves. Called individuals have become one with their engine in all phycological matters. Some of their characteristics are:
Inability to age, staying the same age they were Called. All of the called appear to be in a range of early 20s to early 50s years in age.
Inability to die, withstanding injuries that would kill regular humans as long as their engines are not scrapped or destroyed.
Lack of need to eat or drink, having their whole body functions supplied by their engines (though most still eat and drink for the sake of it).
Body and mind merged with their engines, oftentimes referring to both themselves and the engine as one and the same. Therefore, their overall health can be affected by their engine's state.
Humans Vs Called
Regular humans tend to believe the Called are just insane engine drivers that believe they are one with the engines. Due to this perception, Called don't tend to interact with regular humans that often.
There are exceptions, of course.
Railway workers and the Called
Every engine is assigned 3 crew members at all times: a main driver, a Called that works as a secondary driver, and a fireman.
Called are very fond of their crew and the other railway workers, and many consider their crew as part of their own family; this mainly stems from the fact that this group of people are of the only who believes that they and their engines are one and the same.
Railway owners are a different story. Some believe in the Called and their bond with the engines, and as such do everything in their power to preserve and keep the engines going. Some owners aren't so good, however.
There's a reason why there are so many scrapped engines...

Can a Hike Be a First Date?
Things between you and John has been going really good. You have been getting to know each other in a more "more than friends" way. (Wink wonk but not all the way wink wonk) You have also been learning more things about each other. However, you haven't been on a first date yet. You decided that John would pick your first date. He told you to wear something comfy and he would would come for you today.
You sat at your kitchen table, picking your favourite photos of you and John to put in photo frames while you waited for him. You found one you absolutely loved.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4d8ea3af42666c49e61a7bdf5f35e62c/6010037f2581bf1b-fd/s540x810/6b40923a232480829e301a235aced363498adcc9.jpg)
(Hiro Mashima senpai is an artist I love so much. Gray and Juvia my fav ship in fairy tail. Followed closely by Jerza)
"Hey babe." John said, walking into your pod. He gave you a quick kiss and looked at the photo you had. "I love that photo. Anyway you ready to go?" He asked eating a plum in your fruit bowl. You nodded and jumped up. "Where are we going?" You asked, taking his hand as you walked. "Well I thought we could go for a hike!" He exclaimed. You looked at him speechless. "What?" He asked. "A hike. For a first date?" You asked. He grinned and nodded. "I think it will be good, just wait until we get to the place we are hiking to." He said squeezing your hand. He noticed you were still hesitant. "You can pick the next date." He said kissing your cheek. You know John loves the outdoors, but you weren't fond of this idea.
The hike wasn't as bad as you thought it was mainly flat, not many uphills. You just enjoyed your time with him. John has been really opening up to you. He spoke about how his actions towards his brother has really effected him. You were the only one he has spoken to about this.
"How you feeling?" John turned to you and wiped some sweat off your face with a napkin. You had been hiking for 3 hours now. "I'm good, I feel if I wasn't with you I would not of had a good time." You said grabbing his arm. John blushed. He felt content with you and didn't feel the need to be perfect. You accepted all his flaws. Yes he was older but he didn't feel he needed to protect you as much as he did feel he needed to protect his brothers. You took the burden from him. Helped him when things were getting tough for him. He really loved you for that, how much you cared for him.
John noticed he was getting to the place he wanted to show you. He found it when he was on his own and promised that if he ever found someone he truly loved he would show them this place. You made it up the trail to this cave. You notice Rhonda at the entrance of the cave. You looked at John surprised. "What I feel like you would be tired after this so I would drive us back." John said, scratching the back of his neck not looking at you. You loved when he got shy. You kissed his cheek.
You two made yourself through the cave. It was so dark so you stayed close to JD. Slowly as you got deeper a dim light got brighter and brighter until the cave expanded. Your eyes got wider every step you took into the opening of this cave
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f7840224ac67c163c500bf5b89788cf6/6010037f2581bf1b-28/s1280x1920/f82a96c3e30985a5e5ab4d3979b7a33aa5c6634d.jpg)
"I said to myself if I ever found someone I loved so much. I would take them here. You're the first person I shared this with." Josh said smiling down at you. You eyes filled with tears. You jumped and wrapped your arms around his neck kissing him deeply. However from the force that you did this with you two fell into the big pond.
The rest of the day you two explored the cave, ate under a tree and enjoyed the scenery.
A/N: I'm soooooooo sorry for the wait guys. I've been so busy!! Hope you like it.

scotchrye or hirohagi for the ask game! ty
I'll write both, thank you!
ScotchRye: Ship It
1. What made you ship it?
I got to know the early era of Scotch when nothing was revealed who he was aside that he's PSB undercover, Rei's friend, and dead. At that time, he was a mysterious character, cool but also kind to kid(s).
The roof top scene him with Rye, there was something between them, like, how did you know where another man kept his gun on his body?𤨠The fact that Scotch didn't have intention to hurt Rye in the first place, he knew Rye nickname; Shu-nii, that his younger sibling (or his child? Scotch didn't know) called him on the train station that nowhere near his name that he told Scotch. But Scotch didn't pursue it any further, not to his sister or to him (could be a little in my delulu). Also, the kabedon... the exchange monolog, each other wanted to help/save one another, ugh these two...
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
As now, we saw more of Hiro's personalities and he's a teaser, so younger teasing older but sometimes got backfire and get flustered instead is fun~ You can get revenge in bed laterđââď¸
I'm sorry, it's hard to stay fluffy when the other guy is Akai... His stoic facade really wanted you to break it (for me, at least).
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I haven't interacted with fandom much I don't know what's going on in theređ So, I'll just write my opinion; Scotch knew many things about Rye by observing him, but Rye didn't know that much about his sniper partner. That's kinda not fair, isn't it? (me typing this while smilingđ) And they made me improved my anatomy skill little by little. Thanks, ScotchRyeđ
HiroHagi: Ship it
1. What made you ship it?
I wanted to tease that smug face. At first, I thought Hiro and Hagi were close after enrolling in the academy because they were both younger brothers and have common things to befriend with each other, but in reality; Hagi (and other WPS boys exclude Rei) just know that Hiro has brother when they talked about Hiro's case while cleaning academy's bathroom. So, Hiro just went and asked about Matsuda's backstory from Hagi (just as a classmate at that time), and he answered?? How are they so close to ask that??? What?? Hagi, you're too friendly?? Or maybe Hagi saw Hiro and thought this guy could help his childhood friend and give it away.
They had so many things in common if you see it. Both were younger siblings, have hot-headed childhood friend that they're taken care of, more of a laid back when compare with their friend, but pretty hard on themselves. Though, they don't have the same interested, could be fun to talk and exchanging stories with each other.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
Hiro can handle Hagi (to some degree) Kinda like; okay, you do you, I'm gonna wait here, call me if you want anything. What makes you happy, I'm happy. But Hiro isn't always goes with the flow, he sometimes teases Hagi back too.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Hagi is more of a carefree than Hiro, so I tend to draw Hiro as more unfazed when Hagi's playful. But they both serious when it comes to work related or heavy topic. Because Hiro has been undercover, the world that Hagi isn't that familiar with. To see your friend from police academy had changed to the person he didn't expect, I think Hagi still act friendly toward Hiro but there're some cautious and a little uncertain in his behavior. Hiro picked that up, but he understands and slowly warm him up again.
It's a crack ship so most of the above are from my opinion, it would be nice to see them interact moređ
Or maybe I just wanted to ship my main (Hiro) with other men that he had histories with, that's it-

15 Day BL Challenge: Give 5 Good Boys a Gold Star
I'm doing a speed run so I will often post multiple days in a single post; however, this particular prompt was so GOOD that it demanded its own post.
For those interested in the challenge: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
How do we define "good"?
Good can mean so many different things.
There's a part of my brain that automatically goes to our "good" submissives or any character with a praise kink. But good could also mean that their presence improves the lives of those around them. It could mean they are just really good at what they do. What can I say? Competency is hot. A "good boy" could mean a character waving all the green flags or it could be someone that's actually doing good in the bigger world. It could also just be the cinnamon rolls and chaos gremlins that are "good" for us as viewers. Even if someone else hates on them, we love them. They are good for our entertainment.
You get my problem. There are so many different flavors of "good boy". And even if we just stick with the most basic definition, there have been a lot of good boys recently. Needless to say, I struggled picking only five. In the end, I went for the variety pack of definitions.
Good Boy #1: The Submissive One
This category was particularly hard. I love it when power dynamics come into play, and there are so many good boys in this category.
In the end, I settled on Taishin from Takara no Vidro. I adored this show. It was mostly fluffy with a D/s dynamic and it just made me happy.
Taishin is meek generally, but he is constantly striving to meet Takara's expectations.
Plus, the scene where he rabidly defends Takara against Takara's mother was hilarious and squee worthy at the same time.
Good Boy #2 The Caretaker
Life is hard. It's easy to get caught up in the daily grind. I find it incredibly endearing when a character somewhat forces the other person to take care of themselves. With that in mind, I give a gold star to Kai from Perfect Propose. He's not all green flags, but he's still a good boy.
He's downright offended that Hiro wasn't taking care of himself. The man is on a mission to make sure Hiro gets to a better place physically and mentally. Throw in Kai's traumatic backstory, and I'm melting. He deserves all the good things in life.
Good Boy #3 The Competent One
Shao Peng from See Your Love. He's good at his job (caretaking no less), good at fighting, good at loving đĽľ. He's all green flags and a giant cinnamon roll. He resides on my favorite character list as an anomaly among all the unhinged and tsundere ones.
Good Boy #4 The Social Justice Warrior
Having realized all of my previous picks were very recent, I decided to take a stroll down memory lane. Let's just say - we've come a long way in toning down toxicity and upping the number of good boys in recent years. But my next gold star goes to White from Not Me. Yeah - still not that long ago. Recency bias is a force to be reckoned with.
White is a submissive man surrounded by dominant personalities. But he's choosing to fight. Fight for his brother, fight for Sean, fight for himself, and fight for the world. Sure, the methods are questionable and the outcomes debatable. But something's to be said about trying.
Good Boy #5: The One Meeting Expectations
My last gold star goes to Minase from Miseinen. Precisely because - he's not really a good boy. He does what's expected of him by his mother, by his friends, and by society's standards. But he's not really a "nice" guy and most of that is a facade.
Hirukawa gives him a place to be himself. But during the day, when he is in front of other people, the facade goes back up. He's doing his utmost to keep the peace, to keep up with expectations, and to be society's version of a "good boy". All while knowing that image is not his truth. Man, is that relatable. So here's a gold star Minase. Keep up the good fight. Don't lose yourself in the process.
#recency bias is definitely in play#blchallenge2k24#i love a good list#thai bl#japanese bl#taiwanese bl#perfect propose#miseinen#takara no vidro#not me the series#see your love

The Promise of Dessert
Written for Maiko Week 2024 â Parents
Summary: Zuko and Mai talk about having kids for the first time. Such a serious conversation can only be had with a plate of fruit tarts. Guest starring: chef Tom-Tom.
Authorâs Note: This is very contradictory to the fic I posted yesterday, lol! They exist in separate timelines. Maybe OOC. Mai and Zuko have a very open and honest conversation. In my head this takes place before the Promise comics and very near the end of the show, but Tom-Tom is slightly aged up. But it could also take place after they get back together. Dealerâs choice ;)Â
Also, thank you to everyone who commented on any of my posts! I had never really written fanfic and published it before this week and you have all been so nice and encouraging. Iâm out of pre-written posts and this might be the last thing I put up this week <3
TW: Very brief mention of infertility and a difficult pregnancy. Itâs mostly fluff.
WC: 2,177
Mai shivered in the evening air. Where was your fire bending boyfriend when you needed him? She was walking home after spending the day with Ty Lee, and she felt completely drained.
It was fun and all, but truthfully Mai had been ready to leave much earlier than Ty Lee allowed. She loved her friend, but the acrobat was a bit much sometimes. They were hanging out with the other Kyoshi Warriorsâ many of whom Mai had also come to likeâ but they were not a quiet bunch. Mai had stayed up late last night visiting Zuko at the palace and she desperately needed a rest.Â
She had tried to leave at dinner time, but Suki guilted her into eating with them. And afterwards, Ty Lee insisted that Mai test her Pai Sho skills against Misaki, who was the best on Kyoshi Island apparently. Then, for some very important reason unfathomable to Mai, Kaori, another one of the girls, urgently needed to learn how to put her hair into symmetrical buns. That lesson took quite a long time, so when they finished Mai was sure that she was free. But alas! Hiroâ or maybe Hina (Mai was still learning everyoneâs name)â wanted knife throwing tips. By the time Mai was able to go, the sun was going down.Â
She yawned and stretched before entering her home. On the floor was a piece of paper. Mai thought it was odd, but she had half a mind to ignore it before she realized it bore her name. Raising an eyebrow, she picked it up, but all it said was, âGo to kitchen.â The handwriting looked like Zukoâs. She pursed her lips. That man and his notes.
Still, she was slightly more awake than before and she complied with the request. She pushed open the door and, sure enough, there he was. Zuko stood in his casual robes and apron of all things. He didnât notice her at first because he was talking to Tom-Tom, who sat on the counter, also in an apron and covered in flour. Tom-Tom laughed at whatever Zuko was saying, and Zuko ruffled his hair affectionately.Â
Mai felt her heart do an odd sort of somersault. The scene was so domestic⌠She could almost imagine their future. There was no banishment anymore, or war, or pain. Just the people she loved.
Tom-Tom spotted her first. âMai!â He jumped down and ran to hug her. She patted his head affectionately, as he gazed up at her. âZuko and I made fruit tarts for you! Just donât look in the trash. We messed up a lot of times. But this batch is perfect!âÂ
Her little brother took her hand, and guided her to the kitchen table. It was much smaller than the one in their formal dining room, but it felt more intimate. Mai cast her eyes to Zuko, who was watching her with a sappy grin. âWelcome home,â he said, and she felt her cheeks flush.
âThank you,â she replied, before turning her attention to the tarts. Some of them were burnt on the outside, and a few were a bit lacking in the titular fruit. Mai suspected that the boys had been overconfident on their first go and wasted supplies. But, to her, they were the most exquisite desserts she had ever received. âThese look delicious! I didnât know you two had it in you.â She gave Tom-Tom a peck on the forehead. âThank you so much, I canât wait to try one.â
Tom-Tom beamed up at her proudly. âYou should tryâŚâ he furrowed his brow in concentration and examined the fruits of his labor intently. âThis one.â He pointed to the one that had the most fruit and the least charring.Â
Mai picked it up gratefully and took a bite. âItâs so good! You could be quite the chef one day.â
Zuko had been watching her affectionately, but he pouted at that. âHey! What about me?â
She laughed and walked over to kiss his cheek. âYou too, of course. But I would rather you keep our Nation running.â He smirked and wrapped her in a quick embrace.
Then, he pulled out a chair from the table for her, and the three of them sat. Zuko and Tom-Tom also ate a fruit tart each, but Mai could tell that they had been sampling their wares before her arrival.Â
Michi appeared to take Tom-Tom to bed, and she gave Mai a cheerful look on her way out. Mai didnât know how to feel about it. She assumed her mother wouldnât be so at ease with her daughterâs boyfriend being over so late if he wasnât royalty.Â
Zuko seemed to sense he was losing her to her thoughts, and he cleared his throat. âYour little brotherâs a good kid. At first I was worried about spending so much time with him⌠Iâm not really used to children. I thought maybe he would cry or need your mom or something.â
Mai chuckled. âHeâs five now, Zuko. He still gets upset sometimes, but heâs not in diapers. What even inspired your joint mission?â
Pink dusted Zukoâs cheeks and he gazed very intently at the table before them. âI was thinking about all of the things that I knew made you happy. Both Tom-Tom and fruit tarts were on the list.âÂ
âWere you making this list for a particular reason?â she asked.
The smile left his eyes, and he turned his gaze back to her. He grasped her hands tightly in his own. âI was thinking about all of the things you do for me. I couldnât stop thinking about⌠when we were at the Boiling RockâŚâ he swallowed hard. âYou risked your life for me, and I left you there.â His voice was heavy with regret.
âOh Zuko,â Mai brought her hand to his cheek. âYou donât always have to be the hero. Let me save you sometimes. Itâs my honor,â she teased.
Zuko smiled again, but it was smaller than before. He always carried too much guilt. âEither way, I wanted to thank you. You areâ in the most literal senseâ my hero. I wanted to make you your favorite foods, but I decided to start with fruit tarts. And I figured that if I enlisted Tom-Tomâs help, we could bond a little. I intend on being in your lives for a very long time.â
The thought filled Mai with a pleasant sort of warmth. She was getting drowsy again, but she didnât want to go to sleep anymore. âWhen I saw you two together, I have to admit it made me really happy. Three of us sitting here together might be my best memory in this house.â
Zuko nodded in agreement. âIt felt like we were a family.â
Mai wasnât sure she was ready for this conversation. She deflected, âWe already are a family.â
His brow furrowed. âYes, but I meant⌠it almost felt like we were parents.â
Mai hummed noncommittally, but it was too late. Zuko latched onto the notion.
After a few minutes of silence, he added in a small voice. âWould you ever want to have kids? With me?â
Mai thought that she did, but should she say it? What if she changed her mind later? âWell, weâll have to. Wonât we? For the sake of the bloodline?â
Zuko flinched. âI was actually thinking about thisâ oh! Uh. Not in a weird way.â He turned as red as the strawberries on the table before them. âI mean⌠my advisors may have mentioned it. They donât like that Azula is my only other young relative. But I was thinking, if you donât want kids, we could choose a different royal family. Or maybe form a new type of government all together.â
Maiâs jaw nearly dropped. âWouldnât it be easier to find another woman?â
âAnother woman?â Zuko sounded painfully confused.Â
âYou know, women. About half of the population?â
Zuko rolled his eyes. âI get the picture, but why should I find another one?â
Mai crossed her arms. In truth, he was being very sweet, but he was on the verge of promising something too big. âIt would be a whole lot easier to marry someone else than construct a new government. Are you stupid?â
âThat is not an option.â Uh oh, Zuko was using his grouchy voice. In particular, the voice he typically reserved for people who insulted her. Ironic. He seemed to realize how intense his tone was. âI mean unless you donât want to marry me! Or be with me⌠Um⌠But if you do, want to be with me, like at all, I would strongly prefer that option.â He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, clearly frustrated by his inability to speak his mind.
Mai looked at him incredulously. âOf course I want to be with you. We were just talking about how I almost died for you.â
Zukoâs eye twitched. âThen why doesnât that settle it?! I donât care how many advisors or Ozai loyalists or reactionaries I have to knock down. If you donât want kids, then we wonât have kids. Look at my familyâs history! Itâs probably time we put someone else in charge. My lineage or bloodline or whatever means nothing to me! I want a family with you, even that means just the two of us.â
Mai knew she was just being obstinate now, but wanted to poke him one last time. âAnd why am I so special? You canât make a promise like this without really thinking it through.â she deadpanned.Â
Zuko was practically smoking at this point. âMai, I have thought about it! Itâs because I love you! Because you understand me like no one else in the world. Because Iâm pretty sure I need you to survive. During my banishment, I would think about you and sometimes I would worry that we would reunite, but it would all be wrong. You wouldnât like me anymore, or we wouldnât have that same innate understanding of each other from when we were kids. But, we did.â He was looking at her like she was a miracle. âWe both changed so much, but you still get me. You listen to my stupid outbursts and you manage to make sense of them. You keep me in line when Iâm being unreasonable. I only feel this safe with you and Uncle. I need you.âÂ
He was starting to tear up, and Mai realized that she felt safe with him too. He was her safe harbor in the world around them. She actually had thought about having kids with Zuko. She always vaguely wanted to. Now that he had given her the option, she knew for sure. This man would do anything for her comfort, including put his own desires aside. She could trust him with her future.
âI want one. Or maybe two,â she blurted out.
âWhat? Fruit tarts?â Zuko asked, caught completely unawares.Â
âNoâ I mean maybeâ but thatâs obviously not what I meant, you big idiot.â
âOh!â A grin split Zukoâs face from ear-to-ear. âHold on, why did you make me say all that stuff about our other options? I thought you were about to dump me. That was terrifying.â
âWell, I wasnât entirely sure. I liked the idea of having kids, but Mom had a really rough go of it with Tom-Tom. It took her years to get pregnant again and it was not an easy time. And, if I changed my mind or we couldnât, I didnât want to give you that hope and take it away.âÂ
Zuko wrapped an arm around her. âYou are always free to change your mind. I will never take that choice away. And if you canât get pregnant, then weâll cross that bridge when we get there. But no new women, please.â
Mai laughed. âDeal. Honestly, hearing you say all that sappy stuffâŚâ Zuko frowned, wondering how she would finish that thought. âIt made me feel safe too. I think⌠I feel safe enough to see our future.â And then a thought occurred to her, âOur distant future. Right?â
Zuko laughed and nodded fervently. âYes, letâs try to reach a more manageable level of assassination attempts before we start planning in earnest.â
Mai tried to reply, but a yawn escaped instead. Zuko looked at her sympathetically. âIâm sorry to keep you up so late. I thought Tom-Tom and I would learn faster. I told Ty Lee to keep you busy until I sent her a message.â That explains a lot, Mai thought. They stored the extra tarts for the next day, and Zuko walked Mai to her room. They shared an almost uncharacteristically chaste kiss before parting ways. They had been very vulnerable with each other, and they needed some time apart to recover.Â
But the promise of such a bright future, however distant, buoyed Zukoâs step on his short walk home. One day, they might be parents. And their family would be full of love, hope, and fruit tarts.
