Juniper: Hello kids! How goes the tutoring?

Juniper opened the door to her sons, a one loveable goofball named, Jaune Arc to see the sixteen year old sitting at his desk working on school assignment. While his personal tutor, the twenty year old, Glynda Goodwitch helped him better understand his school assignments.

Jaune: Hmm, what?

Glynda: It is going well, Mrs. Arc. Jaune is still struggling with his physics homework, but he has improved drastically compared to when he first started.

Jaune: I have? Feels like I’m still dragging myself out of a muddy hole.

Juniper: Oh, don’t be like that, Jaune. Glynda just said so herself that you’re improving!

Jaune: But, am I?

Juniper sighed in exasperation as she listened to how defeated, Jaune sounded. Years of his sister’s bullying, and putting him down had vasty hurt his self esteem. But, just then she just had a brilliant idea.

Juniper: Glynda, I don’t suppose you could…?

Glynda: Improve, Jaune sense of self confidence? It’s not going well. But, I am trying.

Juniper: Just thought I should ask. At the very least give him advice better than what his father gave him.

Jaune: Hey! Dad’s advice is great!

Juniper: No. No it’s not sweetie.

Jaune turned back to his homework as he silently mumbled to himself.

Juniper: Well, I’ll leave you two alone. Good luck, Jaune!

Jaune: Yeah, luck will certainly help me with all of this.

Juniper rolled her eyes as she left his room. As she made her way down the stairs she suddenly stopped as she just realized she wanted to ask her son something, but she completely forgot to ask him.

She rushed back up the stairs, and flung open the door to, Jaune’s room.

Juniper: Jaune! I forgot I wanted to ask you…

As she barged into his room she was met with the sight of her son lying with his back on his bed. And, his tutor sitting on his waist, her bloused undone leaving her bra clad chest bare for all to see. She looked down to see, Jaune’s hands resting on Glynda’s dress pants as he was slowly moving up her hips. The duo had a pair of radiant blushes across their faces as, Juniper stared at the duo.

Juniper: So…

Juniper: How long has… this… been a thing…?

Glynda: A-About a month…

Juniper: And, you didn’t tell me you two were dating… You two are dating, right?

Jaune: Yeah…

Juniper: And, you didn’t tell me you two were dating because…?

Jaune: Well… she’s older than me… and my tutor so…

Juniper: Okay valid reasons. You were scared I would separate you because of that. Okay. Is this whole relationship developed around the bases of love, or lust.

Glynda: It was lust at first.

Jaune: Yeah, sexy hot teacher does things to a hormonal teenager. Hehe…?

Juniper: Wait does that mean you seduced her, Jaune?

Glynda: To be fair, he was just being a gentleman, I’m the one who shoved my tongue down his throat.

Juniper: I see… so is there any love in this relationship then, cause if so…

Jaune: W-W-Well I’m not old enough to give her a ring yet mom!

Glynda: Wait?! Are you planning on asking me to… to…?!

I fully believe that the whitebeard pirates would be good but completely chaotic with an actual child like I know whitebeards whole thing is being a dad but I think you throw a four year old at them and they're like "oh God can it have beer yet?" Correct me if im wrong but when aren’t the only kids who have been in the Moby Dick Hiyori and Momonosuke? And they had both parents to look after them so no one had to worry about taking any reponsability in that aspect and Whitebeard din’t have to step in as a dad in their case.

To me the best contenders to know whag the hell they are doing would be Marco and Oden, with Izou and Ace coming a close second

Oden, well he is a dad so that gives him an advantage on dealing with kids but regardless he is soemone who gives zero shits on what people think of him so he has no problem being the goofy dad 24/7. And despite his hotheaded personality and what I thought to be a careless lifestyle he is a man who will and has given everything to protect his family and retainers

Up next we have Marco, I don’t recall him having direct contact with any children on the series but he has shown to have a calm, mature demeanor, this paired up with his medical knowledge would aid him in things such as when does a child become ready for solid foods, when should they start walking etc. Not saying he would know everything as he is the Ship’s doctor and not a pediatrician but his love for his family would be enough encouragement to learn about children and their development. Plus this man can do no wrong sooo

Ace, now listen you may think, of course you’re going to say he’s up there he had Luffy and you would be absolutely right that is one of the reasons 😂. Listen in his youth he had a rough attitude and if even then he was able to fill that role he filled for luffy even years later is a testament to his qualifications. Second point is his personality, when he grew up he grew up to be a a goofball, at least I saw him that way, I feel like his personality would match up perfectly with a child. But a good match dosen’t feed the child so that’s why he won’t be up in first place. He would be great with the children but he would be as clueless as can be when it comes to needs of the kid, he would forget tk water and feed the child.

For Izou, I think he would be a good option because like Marco he seems tk have that Mature and responsible demeanor , so he would be a good option for a child coming aboard. He would also be great with the needs of the child, reminding himself to do all the tasks needed to be done if the child is wrong or remind the child themselves if they are old enough. But despite being a big brother, he is only a big brother by a year so I don’t think thats adding tk his resume in this case. The reason why he is not on top is because even though he would be great at keeping track of what teh child needs he doesn’t neccesarily have the knowledge, he can be told about what and when the kid needs something but he wouldn’t know that by himself, so give him the information and he is up there with Marco And Oden, which would probably be the ones who teach him in the first place

Thatch would be a good option too, he has a playful and caring personality for the child and he would be able to adapt his meals to better fit the kid, but same as Izou he would need to be given that information. And similar to Ace he would forget about some needs of the kid or be incredibly reckless, he would remember to feed and water the kid since he is a chef and it’s his job but other needs eh, keep an eye on him ir next thing you know you’ll have a toddler making your meals, handling knifes and other utensils.

I do want to mention Haruta, I think kids would love his outfit, he looks goofy so he could be a good entertainer for them. The rest of the commanders though… well they would be good bug brothers but maybe from a little far away, they are more rady to handle bigger kids and teens who can take a little bit more force. They could be caring but if someone like Kingdew or Fossa approach a kid I don’t know if a small child would be…how to say it…. I don’t think they would be ready for their personalities and facial expressions….

Ok so I've been a fan of Evan since days of future past came out. Like, the day it came out. I saw the premier or whatever it's called in theaters so DUH I LOVE QUICKSILVER SO MUCH 😞😞 anyways I know you're not taking requests but like I'm a little bit chubby (this is relevant I swear) and I CANNOT stop thinking about Peter and reader! being in a serious long term relationship, but they haven't gone all the way yet. peter’s a mutant. he knows exactly what it feels like to be alienated for something he has no control over

second of all, the guy’s a little bit of a weirdo

i legitimately doubt he would judge, or think less of anyone for something as superficial as looks

seriously. If he vibes with you, and you’re patient enough with him - you’re sexy as hell

i actually really liked the episode this week!! the pacing feels a little bit better than the last couple of episodes, i'm not sure if i can properly explain why i feel that way but it definitely feels better to me! but also, i have no idea whether or not this falls in line with the novel context so others may have differing opinions LMFAOOO

i think in general i really liked the art in this episode, the panels really were super awesome this week! and the overall gags were both hilarious and gave more world-building info (in a very indirect way haha) which i really liked. i always love tearing that stuff apart and coming to my own conclusions about Why these characters do what they do, so that made me happy/satisfied hehe

still thinking about that blushing javier panel. jesus that is like a DRUG. i feel my neurons activate every time i see it. CHRIST

i really really hope the next episodes keep up this pace! i like that they spent time to build up the rock paper scissors punchline/explanation, bc it makes it easier to feel like there are things happening. it was harder in the earlier eps for this arc (specifically 169, where we breezed past the eight demon kings - it felt fast bc while the solution was simple, we didn't have build up or time spent with them!) but now we're actively giving time for the punchline / for the action to run its course, which i really like. YAY!

I hope this is enjoyable for you, I kind of took a goofball and quiet night type approach for it while sticking to my Toby's interests.

Toby loves going out and goofing off with you. Growing up, he never was allowed outside or allowed the freedom to just run around and have fun, so it's something that he really relishes during his time at the mansion. He gets a lot of pent-up energy, and having the chance to run around in a park in the Underworld or on Earth with you is just so peaceful and relaxing, and it's one of the few times these days that he finds himself truly happy. It doesn't matter what the two of you are getting up to, he just wants to be there with you. 

One of his favorite things to do, even if you aren't good at sports, is to go out and either kick a ball around or throw one back and forth. You don't have to be talented or good at it (Toby himself doesn't even try to be that great), he just likes to do it because he never had the chance to growing up. If you really wanna see him have a lot of fun, get him a fucking Wubble ball or something and let him smack it around for an hour, and he'll have the time of his life. He'll probably trip and stumble a lot, maybe get some bruises and cuts he can't feel, but to Toby, running around and having fun like a kid would is one of his favorite things to do, and it's even better when you're the one that he gets to play with. He loves you so much, and it makes him so happy that you're interested in goofing off like that with him too. Running around, screaming and laughing, making people yell at the two of you to quiet down from their porches, it just gets him so giddy and excited, because he feels free and he feels like he can conquer the world. Nights like this always end with some late-night ice cream from his favorite ice cream parlor in the Underworld that's always open 24 hours, so no matter how late the two of you are out goofing around you can always stop.

On quieter nights if he's feeling mischievous, one of the recent things he's gotten into is spraypainting on things, and doing graffiti. Sometimes it's words, sometimes it's animals or random patterns, but he's actually really talented at it, and he likes having you there to give him ideas and just watch him do it. He always peeks over his shoulder to make sure you're still standing there watching him because it makes him feel at peace and happy. On other quiet nights, he collects moths and butterflies. I've said before, that my Toby likes to collect moths and butterflies and pin them up in his bedroom, and nights with you are one of his favorite times to do that. He's always trying to catch a new species, and as the seasons change that presents him the chance to do so. It's one of the times when he's the most quiet and relaxed, not wanting to scare them away, and he teaches you how to do it, and how to properly care for them. He has a large area in his room that's sectioned off and got large cages for the butterflies and moths to live in until they die, he always gives them food and nurtures them until they pass, and then he'll spread and pin them up. Catching them with you just makes the experience more worth it and more enjoyable and memorable. He always helps show you the whole process so you know the work he puts into them, and sometimes he'll even let you pick the spot where he's going to put them up. It makes him feel so content and at peace to look at a butterfly or moth you chose the place for, as it just really cements into his mind that your relationship is permanent and real.

What are your good and bad thoughts about the Reds 👀

Good question, I’m sure from recent posts on Reddit and other social media it might look like I hate the Reds. I don’t. 😇

I’ve been in this fandom for all 26 years and Blossom is my favorite character of all time, so I’m pretty much open to shipping her with almost anyone as long as it’s thoughtfully written and keeps her pretty much in character.

My small child started watching PPG last year which got me back into the fandom after being away for a while. Since then I’ve read pretty much all the Reds that’s worth reading on FF.net and AO3. Some great stuff out there, of course. But after a year of consuming Reds I decided I was tired of the pairing so I wanted to try writing Blossom with almost anyone else.

I mostly don’t like the fanon exclusive version of Brick when his entire character completely changes with no explanation, pretty much only just to make him a palatable love interest for Blossom. Hint: if the character has to change drastically to make Blossom like them, maybe it wasn’t meant to be lol. I particularly hate the dark triad mysterious badass trope that the fandom likes to give him. I just don’t buy it. I feel strongly that (IF the boys got friendly with the girls as they aged) Brick would just be slightly nerdy and a bit of a dweeb. Best comment I got on my story recently says he would grow up to be a dramatic theater kid and I can’t unsee it now. (A good example I can think of right now is “On Top,” on FF.net where Brick is just a giant goofball and Blossom’s exasperation actually makes their chemistry really adorable).

If a good Reds story comes across my dash I will definitely still read it, and I’ll never turn down a spicy Reds scene. But as far as actual realistic compatibility with Blossom? Not a fan.

This is the girl who envisioned a perfect society where the world is run by women. Brick in the canon, of course, is famously a misogynist bully. Making him mature as he ages is fine, but it’s just hard for me to buy that both characters would make a beeline in the complete opposite direction, not without some serious setup by the author.

So, that’s why I’m writing Harry Pitt/Blossom right now. I got sick of the fact that there were almost no alternatives for Blossom and I figured if I couldn’t find it, I’d write it myself.

My other OTPs are Blossom/Princess, Blossom/Butch and Blossom/Robin. (A multi-chapter Blossom/Princess story is already written and coming soon, but I gotta finish the art for it and proofread more before I post lol.)

My headcanon for Blossom is bisexual and for Brick is gay. One fic I read once that was super cute was Blossom doing Brick’s makeup for the first time after he begrudgingly asks for help. That, to me, is a peak Reds interaction. Brick dealing with his true self and internalized homophobia and Blossom being pure Everything Nice for him. Thats’s just *chef’s kiss*

Anyway this comment was way longer than intended lol. I just love Blossom and Brick separately and I wish they worked better together in my headcanons but I like them better as bi/gay rivals or besties rather than romantically.

You snuggled deeper into the hotel bed, feeling Nick's warm arms around you. You'd known him since 6th grade, and since then he'd become more than just a friend - he was your rock, your confidant, your everything.

"Hey, remember that time we got lost in the arcade?" Nick asked, his voice low and husky.

You giggled. "How could I forget? We were stuck in there for hours!"

Nick chuckled. "And then my mom had to come find us, yelling at us for being irresponsible."

You playfully rolled your eyes. "You got us lost on purpose, Nick!"

Nick just laughed and pulled you closer. "Maybe a little. But it was worth it to see you smile."

You walked through the crowded arcade, the sounds of buzzing games and laughter filling the air. Nick's mom, Shayna, led the way, with Nick and you following close behind.

As you stopped to play a game, Nick's mom said, "I'll go grab some tickets, you two keep playing!"

But when you turned around, Shayna was nowhere to be seen. You looked at Nick, panicked. "Where's your mom?"

Nick shrugged. "I don't know, I thought she was right behind us!"

You both frantically scanned the crowd, but Shayna was gone. You were lost in the arcade.

Nick grabbed your hand. "Don't worry, we'll find her. Let's go up to the front desk and wait for her to find us."

You nodded, and together you climbed the stairs to the ticket counter. The staff barely gave you a second glance as you sat down on the edge of the counter, swinging your legs.

Nick started making silly faces at you, trying to get you to laugh. "Hey, look at me, I'm a lost arcade kid!"

You giggled, feeling a little better. "You're such a goofball, Nick."

As you sat there joking around, the minutes ticked by. You started to worry that Shayna would be frantic with worry, but Nick reassured you. "She'll find us, don't worry. We're not exactly stealthy."

Just then, you heard a familiar voice calling out your names. "Nick! Y/N! Where are you two?"

Nick grinned. "Right here, Mom! We were just... um... supervising the ticket counter."

Shayna chuckled, shaking her head. "Well, I'm glad I found you two. Let's get out of here before you get into any more trouble!"

As you climbed down from the counter, Nick whispered in your ear. "That was kind of fun, getting lost with you."

You smiled, feeling a flutter in your chest. "Definitely an adventure."

(Present Day)

You both laughed, reminiscing about old times. "And what about when you just showed up at my house unannounced?" you teased.

Nick grinned mischievously. "Hey, I just wanted to hang out!"

You were lounging on the couch, watching TV on a lazy Sunday afternoon, when the doorbell rang. You got up to answer it, expecting it to be a neighbor or maybe a delivery.

You opened the door to find Nick standing on your porch, a persistent grin on his face. You had given him your address weeks ago, and you had been wondering when he would finally show up.

"Hey, I'm here!" Nick announced, like he was conquering new territory.

You raised an eyebrow. "I see that. But my parents don't know who you are."

Nick shrugged. "That's okay, my parents are coming too. They couldn't resist my charm."

Just then, Buddy and Shayna got out of their car as well. Your parents appeared behind you, curious about the commotion.

As the adults introduced themselves, Nick whispered, "Let's sneak off and grab some snacks." You nodded, and while the parents talked, you both snuck upstairs to your room.

You spent the afternoon watching movies, joking around, and having the best time. As the hours passed, you both drifted off to sleep, exhausted from laughing.

But your peace was disrupted when Nick's dad, Buddy, burst into your room. "Nick, wake up! Time to go home, kiddo!"

As Nick groggily opened his eyes, Buddy noticed you were awake too. "Hey, sorry to disturb you. We had a great time talking with your parents. Actually, we're planning something for tomorrow..."

Nick sat up, rubbing his eyes. "What's tomorrow, Dad?"

Buddy smiled. "We're coming to pick up Y/N and you two can hang out some more. How does that sound?"

You exchanged a thrilled glance with Nick.

As you talked, Nick's fingers traced gentle patterns on your skin, making you shiver with delight. You'd started dating in 9th grade, and now, here you were, wrapped in each other's arms.

Oh, please tell me we're finally getting blatant child trauma. Also, that's super funny Hazel wasn't going to be teamed with Dev until she was paired because of her wish. I love that way more than her teacher actually pairing them randomly.

... Wait, is Dale Dimm an ancestor of the Dimmadomes? Huh.

Oh, NERD??

He's cute, I'm enjoying him more after the last few episodes. Look at the teeth in his chunky little boots.

Hm. A tall place, I wonder if that's the Dimmadome tower building? (Dev's house, I think).

-> It was not, but Dev knew the place and it did have a connection to his dad. I like the implication Dev used to play there. And he's getting more engaged! Good boy. I'm glad this is a slow transition towards Hazel learning things about him and it wasn't a literal flashback episode. This is fun.

skldfj, all the locations are themed around Dev's family because they run everything around here.

SLDKJFSDF, he looks SO MUCH like his dad without his shades. That's great.

I'm once again enjoying that we got a Dimmadome bully instead of a Buxaplenty bully. It's nice to explore another of the big families in the longstanding lore. Of our main families, this was probably the one we went into least.

... If the Buxaplentys run the trains in Dimmsdale (and have since jobs were assigned in the early days), they probably also have a connection here. I wonder if Remy and Dale ever became friends.

Aw, he's keeping the shades off for now. That's sweet. He's having fun!

... Why do I get the feeling we're gonna get hit with him doing a 180 because he trusts no one and decides he'd rather blow up every chance of friendship?

Oh, THAT'S not the microexpression you want a kid to make when he sees his dad. Finally, some good, sweet child trauma in this show... I missed this so much. We're finally getting The Vibes...

His full name's Devin! Or Devon; I'm not sure. I'm glad to know. Also, I'm glad he has a Prime Meridian poster in his room just like Hazel. Ooh, and Crimson Chin! And Dancing Tarantula. That one surprises me. Is it a series or movie in some way?

"Whether new or old, when you have this, you have gold." - The answer to this clue is gonna be friendship, isn't it? I'm not opposed.

Hazel is showing absolutely 0 qualms about breaking into the school and honestly... Chloe would be proud. They would totally be friends.

-> I'm cracking up at Dev quietly opening all the doors while Hazel's trying to tell a dramatic story. She's all about emotions and fun and his default setting is "straightforward response."

Actually, they really do give me Timmy and Chloe vibes. Timmy's schoolmates used to tease him for talking to inanimate objects and I wonder if they also saw him as a grump like Dev, both dealing with difficult home lives.

Aww, Dev is playing along! He's pretending there are lasers so Hazel enjoys sneaking into the school despite him just pushing open all the unlocked doors. That's really cute.

Aw, criminalizing evidence of you being goofballs! That's adorable.

It speaks to me.

Y'know, I wasn't expecting to like them as a ship, but I can absolutely see it now. Even if Dev goes back to being grumpy in future episodes, Hazel's seen a side of him that's going to change her way of thinking about him forever. I like that.

Like, at any point from this episode out, if Hazel is portrayed as being fond towards him, I'll be okay with it because they were clearly having a lot of fun playing together, and Dev's brought down his walls enough that he explained why he was having a hard time and he apologized for hurting her feelings.

He very clearly regrets snapping at her and saying he doesn't want to be friends, or at least he regrets it when he sees her storm off:

And he apologizes!! Good boy! ... Yes, he showed up and snapped at her again, but... He got there! ...... He is strugglin'! Big yikes.

I like this a lot more than the ship vibes I'd been worried for, which I'd assumed would be Hazel insisting there's good in him and "she can change him," or "He just needs a friend and then he'll be nice." I like this slower development.

Hazel gives me many Chloe vibes (in a good way), but she has her own unique twist on them. Chloe's whole thing was that she denied things that upset her, including the abuse she faced at home from her "perfect and amazing parents" because thinking about herself or her parents as less than perfect kept sending her into a dissociative spiral that would last for an hour before Timmy got her out of it.

Chloe would try to befriend everyone because she thought there was good in them... although her feelings for Kevin were hilarious ("He's a touch off-putting... in a really off-putting way").

When Kevin turned on Chloe, she yelled at him about how she thought she'd seen good in him, but that "he was really just a miserable piece of Crocker," and she was totally down to fight him with a sword.

Like... Yeah, of course Kevin jumps out her window without responding. She's scary! :(

The face of a girl who will later steal Kevin's hall monitor uniform while he's unconscious and won't feel even slightly bad because "he doesn't deserve it." She's a mess. I love her so much.

Chloe's always funny to me because she denies and excuses a lot of things, but there are a few people who can boil her blood and she loses it every time. Later in the season, she accidentally gives three children fairy godparents after screaming at them and dropping them to miserable. Chloe... Breathe.

But Hazel is not so hot-button. Which is fun, and I really like this- I'm glad Hazel isn't following the same pattern of personality (Always a concern of mine for a franchise that already has few girls, many of whom are love interests).

Hazel's got a different angle, in that she's been annoyed at Dev and glaring at him this entire series up until now, including this episode, and she (seemingly) didn't even intend to make her "I wish I knew why he acted that way" wish, because... she was just griping. lol. She hated him so much this entire show, only bending briefly when she found out they love the same book series (and when she suggested they order lactose-free pizza for him since he can't have any), and I respect that.

-> She paid so little attention to him that she forgot Dale Dimmadome was his dad. That's hilarious- It's the one thing the audience had on him and she saw him on TV and went "... I don't know who that is. Why is he wearing ridiculous boots?" That's so funny. Big "Lex Luther waking up in Flash's body and checking his secret identity in the mirror" vibes, except it's Hazel squinting at the TV trying to figure out why some guy with weird boots is on the news.

She's willing to pal around with Dev when they're out, after he shows he's good at puzzles, even before she gets that hint about his daddy issues. I like that too. Hazel's struggling with missing her brother who was her best friend - her entire world, down to wearing his hand-me-downs - and probably has a much better understanding of separation and loneliness than she would have if Antony hadn't gone to college yet.

Also, Dale calls her a mean name in this scene, so... she gets it. She can tell that guy's bad news and making his son sad.

She enjoys Dev's company. They were goofing around and having a great time as friends even before Dev's daddy issues reveal was in the picture for her. I enjoy that. I take no issue with them growing up to be either platonic friends or romantic, under the assumption that they maintain patience with each other and don't put their walls back up.

I suspect Dev might regress because he's the big rival, so I Do Not Trust that he won't become snappy again, and Hazel is completely justified in being annoyed if that happens, but I could also see her being more patient with him going forward, and that wouldn't bother me. He's fun, chill, and energetic when he's not wrapped in his self-defense mechanism of pretending not to care, so I can see her enjoying his company a lot. I like this.

I guess what I think of it is... I was worried about where this was going, and it went way better than I'd guessed. My thought process was "I cannot blame a kids' show for wanting to show that everyone's going through hard times and you should try to be nice to bullies so they're maybe nice to you, but you also have to be careful not to tip so far in that direction that you're subtly telling kids to ignore if they're being abused."

And it didn't go that way! As far as I can tell, which makes me happy. Even when he ran after her to apologize a few minutes later, she was terse with him until he really did apologize (because he showed up and was still being mean at first). She also communicated, expressing that he hurt her feelings.

I'm glad she's good at communicating her feelings and makes an effort to do so. It makes a lot of sense since she has a therapist for a mother, and we saw her parents calm her down in Episode 1 when she was getting heated. It's nice to see someone having a good home life and some healthy skills.

I really like how:

- Hazel didn't try to change him or deny any of the rudeness he'd expressed towards her. She starts this episode still annoyed at him. - Hazel didn't make Dev feel bad when he started expressing himself more. When he struggled with the idea of a high-five and pulled back his hand, she didn't pressure him. She let him go at his own pace and he high-fives her later on. - After his dad told him it was dumb to care about a treasure hunt to win water park tickets when Dimmadomes can just buy the park, she followed him to his room and gently changed the conversation back to what they were doing, not forcing him to talk about it (and not snooping or wishing). - The instant he's snappy with her, she walks out. She GONE. When he shows up, she keeps on guard and explains that he hurt her feelings. He apologizes and only then does she forgive him- she wasn't trying to excuse him, even though she'd literally just witnessed the reason for his mood change. -> I kind of like that. Hazel's out here like "Dev, listen. Your life is hard and I get that. But that doesn't mean I have to be your friend if you're going to treat me badly." This girl knows what's up. - Even though she desperately wanted to crawl through the air vents and rappel into the principal's office, she listens to Dev's suggestions when he opens all the doors. lol.

They're sweet. I enjoy this status quo shift. I didn't really care for Dev because he was definitely putting off prickly vibes, but I like him a lot more now.

This child's dad was kidnapped and forced to make lemonade underground for 7 years- I totally get why he's hesitant to trust, and the fact that his dad makes him feel like his interests are stupid is rough. I get it, buddy.

Oh, them:

I have to assume that's his Mediocre waist pack from "Weird Science" wrapped around him and that's great. That's a nice detail since in most episodes, he's not wearing it because he's already arrived at school and put it away for class, but in this one, he just walked through the door so he's still wearing it like Hazel has her backpack.

-> He really said " :( "

Dev "Totally down to commit B&E" Dimmadome: why do authority figures not like me?

I really like how Dev is so comfortable with Hazel and/or the idea that he's capable of making friends that he's totally ready to take his shades off the first day back at school. You get this sense that he WANTS to have friends... he's just having a hard time finding someone he trusts, presumably because he keeps his walls up so it's hard for others to get close to him. Hazel's meeting that need, so he's willing to relax.

He doesn't care if anyone else in class will react in surprise to seeing him without shades. He doesn't care if this changes his reputation with the entire school. Like, that doesn't seem to bother him even slightly.

-> Dev, I have good news for you! You can make MORE friends if you continue being friendly!!

-> Man went "I've only had Hazel for 1 weekend and if anything happened to her, I would terrorize everyone in this room and then myself."

I feel like since she's his only known support right now, this can easily swing into a clingy extreme (and I feel like he might have a hard time taking critique from Hazel), but... Step in the right direction.

-> And she's good at communicating. I think he can learn social skills and healthy relationships from her. I want him to meet her parents so he can see their relationship too.

/whispers loudly - I want to see his mom and grandpa. Are they around? Does he have siblings or other relatives? I have to assume he's an only child, but... hm. I'd like to know more about his relationships with other family members, because if Hazel is legitimately his sole support right now... uh-oh.

Also, I enjoy how often Dev keeps casually walking around with his hands in his hoodie pockets. Why even give a character a hoodie if you're not going to pocket their hands? That's cute.

I think it's funny that when he's wearing his shades, he has this "cool/grumpy" aesthetic when his hands are in his pockets, but when they're off, he still keeps his hands in his pockets and he's just... chillin'.

Dev would call you at 2 AM from a Denny's 2 hang. idk why, but that's the energy he gives me. Man doesn't know social norms, but he's always ready to drop everything and hang out.

Dev is the rich guy who way overpays and is confused when told that's too much, except that's him with how he'll be treating Hazel in the future, I think. What do you mean regular people don't fly around the city on a helicopter. What are you talking about.

The waterpark was shut down? ... Why do I suspect Dale was behind this, and Dev's gonna be TICKED.

That was a great episode! I like where this is going; we're getting into the old FOP swing with the underlying abuse themes and that makes me happy. Someone please give that kid a fairy. I wish I knew if the misery rules were still in play in this show.

Cookie's Court

This opening scene is cute. Neat that the punch card came back, as weird as it is, and it's nice to see Hazel relaxing and making goofy wishes.

Cookie's back! She's interesting; I'd like to learn more about her. Does her ferret scarf thing have a name?

Okay, so... Hazel does know she'd lose her fairies if they revealed their magic. We never had the rules explained in this show, which feels weird, but okay.

-> I'm so confused about what is and isn't still a rule. I guess I should assume they're all still in play? But... /gestures with confusion at miserable godkids lore. Did they have to cut that part to keep Dale's backstory, because that seems like a weird choice. Why didn't he get a fairy? It's not like rich kids don't get fairies; Remy had one.

-> I'm not opposed to it taking a while (F in the chat for Timmy having to go through Vicky's torments solo for a year before Cosmo and Wanda came into his life), and Jorgen already snapped at Cosmo and Wanda for jumping on Hazel when another fairy was already working through the hoops to get her, but... my inability to figure out if the misery rule still exists is really throwing off my sense of lore.

I like Whispers Fred's little microphone on his shirt, next to his big microphone and his headset microphone. He has 3... Help him.

Fairy Court!! ... Whoa whoa whoa whoa, Jorgen? You shouldn't be on the stand. AAHHHHH Fairy World's flag is the Rainbow Bridge stripes! I love that. That's way better than the blue one with the star they had in "Oddlympics." I wish I would've thought of that.

AAHHHHH! The court symbol survived! It was in court in the OG series too. Only in "A Wish Too Far" though, I think, since the Fairy Council had a different symbol in "Secret Wish." I remember drawing at least one of these. Lemme see.

Yeah!! This is exciting. I used to draw it on stuff, like the wax seal I use on my Class Overview post for Fairies! I love this.

^ Season 2 vs Season 8. Also, WOW... you cannot get a good picture of it in "A Wish Too Far," so kudos to the art team for taking the time to include it anyway.

In the OG show, the Anti-Fairies have something similar hanging in Anti-Cosmo's castle (although I'm not 100% sure it's got a moon).

I think in one of the live actions, Jorgen takes over as the Green Robe on the Fairy Council (I think in "Fairly Odd Summer"). I wonder if that's why he's acting judge here. I guess it doesn't matter; I'm not that concerned about it since I don't consider that canon anyway.

WHAT! You rip 10-year-old Denzel Crocker's fairies away when Timmy accidentally reveals he has fairies, but you let this slide? Jorgen...

Oh, never mind........ He's not.

Furry!! He's testifying! What a cool ferret.... omg, Cookie's in jail for 10k years. SLKDFJSLDFJ, she has a jail skeleton just like when Cosmo and Wanda went to jail in the musical.

Also, I can't be that shocked at her punishment. Revealing magic on accident is one of the biggest offenses in Fairy World because it endangers their society, so trying to do it on purpose looks really bad.

-> I wonder if Crocker still has his memories since Jorgen stopped erasing them after Season 7. I feel like we'll probably get a Crocker cameo, but that feels like a piece of lore that wouldn't carry over. Hmm...

Fairy World Prison... I gotta look this up.

Okay, it's not "Gland Plan" like I thought, and it's definitely not Abracatraz. Is it "When Nerds Collide" (Jimmy-Timmy Power Hour 2?)

IT IS! What a glow-up! That's fantastic. I love that... They even have all the clouds the same colors. This is gorgeous. Those chains overlap the same way. Wow... That's seriously impressive how we keep seeing these subtle callbacks. I love it <3

Big Time Rush Season 1, Episode 16: “Big Time Fever”

Highlights: Orange!James, Bongo!Logan, and Jennifer!Carlos

Also, some ramblings about each of the boys' various emotional dysfunctions.

I feel like this is one of those episodes that typically makes the list of people's favorites. Let's see if it's still as funny as I remember it being.

We begin at the Palm Woods pool. The guys are eager to beat the heat but discover the pool empty, save for Bitters, who is floating around happily. Why? He's put up a sign which reads, "Adult Swim No kids allowed"

Well, guess what. Our clever Kendall takes advantage of the lack of punctuation and creates his own loophole. He swiftly changes it to, "Adult swim? No, kids allowed!"

This is a scene I've always remembered, and it's one of my favorite Kendall moments in general. He's such a menace (affectionate). No rules can confine him.

As a quick little side note: can I just point out how dinky the pool actually is? For a place like the Palm Woods, home of the "future famous", it sure has a teeny tiny pool. It's like...the size of a regular backyard in ground pool, not something that would be at an upscale apartment complex. Just something that's always irrationally bugged me.

Camille comes over and says how great it is that Hollywood hasn't changed the guys, since the environment usually takes its toll on people after a few months. But Kendall, Carlos, and Logan are still the same lovable goofballs they've always been.

Oh, and then James shows up, and he's orange.

He's come down with a raging case of Hollywood Fever. Camille shares that Guitar Dude and The Jennifers met the same fate, becoming permanently altered by the "illness." Kendall decides it's nonsense and attempts to shut this whole business down right away.

"James, you're orange, and you look like a freak," he says. I love Kendall so much.

Unfortunately, the heartfelt, sensitive words have no effect on James, who thinks he looks great.

There's also a B plot going on involving Katie taking advantage of the heat wave by selling snow cones, but idk how much of that I'll cover. I don't remember if it's all that interesting. Guess we'll see as I keep watching.

Later on, at the studio, Kelly and Gustavo are reacting as expected to Orange!James.

Gustavo pulls them aside for a chat, telling them that the image he's going for with the band is NOT, "Three normal boys and a tangerine freak."

Tangerine Freak would be a good band name.

Gustavo orders Kendall, Carlos, and Logan to fix James before he replaces him.

After learning the tanning spray dissolves with water, the guys arm themselves with water guns and set out to hunt their orange friend down. Carlos goes to the pool, where he runs into The Jennifers, who are missing one member (she's gone to Iceland). Bereft without their friend, the remaining Jennifers note that Carlos is the right height to fill her role. So, yeah. Carlos is a Jennifer now.

Back in the lobby, Kendall and James engage in a Matrix-style battle in which James successfully dodges the water gun, and Kendall soaks everyone in the lobby.

Over at the park, Logan's own efforts to find and fix James are quickly thwarted when he has a brief conversation with Guitar Dude and is promptly sucked in by the alluring power of bongos.

Also, it's hilarious to me how easily Logan does a 180 personality-wise. He shows up with his water gun all serious, prepared to help turn James back to his normal, non-orange self, but Guitar Dude is all, "Hey, man, what's the point? Let James be orange if that's what he wants. How about you chill out and find Logan."

And that's all Logan needs.

Anyway, we return to the pool, where Carlos is having second thoughts about becoming a Jennifer. He claims he's too nice, to which the girls work to convince him being nice gets him walked all over. They tell him the only people who make it in Hollywood are the ruthless ones. This convinces Carlos that he should stick with them and become a "tiger shark."

After another disastrous recording session, Gustavo sees how serious the problem has become. He, Kelly, and Kendall decide to divide and conquer, but not before Gustavo yells at Kendall for not taking charge and being able to fix things.

Which like. Ok. Kendall's the most level-headed one, the leader, etc. And this is me reading too much into a kids show again, but this poor guy! It's not enough that Kendall personally puts the pressure on himself to be the Fixer of Everyone's Problems Always—he regularly has that pressure put on him from the people around him too.

When is it Kendall's turn to be taken care of? When does HE get to rest and not have to manage the lives and decisions of his family and friends?? Huh??? WHEN?

One by one, each of their plans fail. Kendall's attempt to lure Logan back to Normal-ville using math has no impact whatsoever, the therapist hired for James ends up a similar shade of orange, and Carlos resists Kelly's shopping cart slingshot with the help of the Jennifers. But! It should be noted that of the three boys, Carlos is the ONLY one who wavers. He really wants to join in on the fun, and if not for the Jennifers, he likely would have.

So, we've got James, who is masking his own feelings of insecurity and inadequacy by covering himself with orange tanning spray. Logan, who desperately needed permission to shed his anxious, uptight, genius status but swung way too far into hippie mode. And Carlos, who (deep down) feels ignored and "less than," and quickly fell into the world the Jennifers offered him: one of status and importance and leadership. Then there's Kendall, who has NOT fallen victim to Hollywood Fever because he's carefully constructed a very secure wall around himself that won't allow him to be anything but the strong, responsible "man in charge" that he's had to be since he was a child and his dad walked out.

Or, as Gustavo says, Kendall "has a normal brain, and his friends have the brain of a cricket."

Listen, Kendall is a lot of things, but normal isn't one of them.

Kendall firmly rejects Gustavo's offer to go solo and announces he's going to the ice rink to think things through. This is a lightbulb moment for Kelly, who realizes that Kendall's connection to his roots has been the factor that saved him. They decide to save Carlos, Logan, and James through the Power of a Snowball Fight.

Turns out, all three cricket-brains just needed to be pelted by some ice in order to shed their newfound personas.

And with that, all is set right with the world again.

This is one of the best episodes of the first season, though it does lend itself to additional questions. Was this a one-and-done battle with Hollywood Fever, or did the group have to face it any time homesickness reared its head? What about Guitar Dude and The Jennifers? Did anyone try to cure them? Did any of the boys find themselves mourning that brief period in time when they weren't "themselves"? Carlos and Logan especially! Because those feelings must have still been there. Carlos still has those feelings of being pushed to the side and forgotten about. Not being considered important. And Logan still needs an outlet for all the stress he deals with on a regular basis—the pressure of being the Smart One.

And James. Well, I don't quite know about James. There is a LOT going on there. Super confident facade, the whole pretty-boy thing going for him. Determined and passionate and full of himself. But he's not. He's scared, deep down. He doesn't know who he is if he's not the most talented or the coolest or the most handsome. Part of him wants to hide away under several layers of Cuda Mangerine Action Tan Spray. There's also, like...other stuff I wonder about with James, like his tumultuous upbringing—super controlling, always put-together, superficial mother and a father who (I think) ended up with a much younger woman? I might be making that up. But I do know that his parents had such a bitter divorce that they didn't even speak. James is also an only child! That is...a lot to deal with growing up, and I'm sure there was damage done.

Not to mention any additional hardships James had to deal with growing up as someone whose personality and interests often skewed from what one might consider "traditionally male." I'm sure he was protected as much as possible by his buds, but there might have been times bullies still made their way through—finding an easy target in the boy who was so into fashion and modeling and had dreams of being a pop star.

Anyway! I hope Mama Knight (who was completely absent from this ep) heard of the day's events and sat with each of the boys to have a heart-to-heart. They certainly all needed it.

- His full name is Dante Gabriel Shaw

- His nickname is probably smth like Danny, so Davey and Danny lol

- He looks a lot like Gabe, his eyes being closer in shade to Gabe’s than David’s, and his facial structure & hair being very similar as well. This makes David both happy and a little sad, which Dante doesn’t understand until he’s a little older and David explains everything about Gabe to him.

- David brings him and Angel to visit Gabe’s grave regularly, and they leave dahlia flowers and honeysuckles (which i stole from other ppls flower hcs sry fhksdhjs)

- He’s besties with Ashlyn (Asher’s daughter) because of course

- He has a sort of inner circle who are all his friends in the pack, so that includes Samuel Jr., Ashlyn, and Milo’s daughter

- He’s always acted like a mini alpha, protecting his friends like David does, he started mimicking David when he was 2, attempting to do speeches to the rest of the pack toddlers

- He shifted for the first time when he was 14, a week before the winter solstice, and while it was painful, he managed pretty okay. His shifted form is very similar to his dad’s (large black wolf in my hc), but with a white swirl pattern on his right flank.

- He is the most responsible in his friend group, making sure they’re all eating, they’re on time, etc. would absolutely be the guy who has all the papers and passports when they go on an international trip.

- He may act a lot like his dad, having a gruff exterior, but it’s mostly a cover, and he can be a little goofball sometimes, like his other parent (Angel)

- He loves playing minecraft, started when he was 5, and co-ops with Angel often to make cool builds

Ok now for official alpha / security company stuff that he’d do!!

- He’s David’s only kid (in this version of things) so he’s naturally expected to become Alpha

- So, he often shadows his dad to important events, as well as security gigs

- One of the major things is he accompanies his dad to Solaire-hosted events, and while his dad greets William and shakes hands with him, Dante greets Emilie (William’s daughter), and shakes hands with her.

- She enjoys messing with him, and has held him in a couple second trance to see how he reacts (like I said in her post, she’s not great with mortals), which he eventually, after a couple meetings, can reliably break out of.

- Usually at these events, he stands around with his dad mostly separated from the vampires, interacting only with those who approach them, because David is worried about him being vulnerable to attacks or trances

- Luckily for him, Samuel Jr. (Sam’s son) is a regular attendee at these events, as William invites him, Vivienne (Vincent’s daughter), and their parents. Of course, Samuel is very protective of his friends, so whenever Dante has been at risk, he’s protected him, albeit maybe too violently, but it gets his point across.

- Now I feel like it’s a good time to mention that Samuel jr and Dante are boyfriends / eventual mates!! So it adds an extra layer considering Samuel has a rightful claim to him (the magic bite thingy), mostly for the purpose of being allowed by vampire law to protect him somewhat violently 👍 (Samuel also visits Gabe’s grave independently to leave flowers, because he’s paranoid about getting permission to date and eventually propose to Dante cuz blah blah tradition even though Gabe wouldn’t care if he were alive)

- He also shadows his dad on security gigs, learning all the best ways to keep large groups safe and orderly in case of an emergency. He also gets properly trained in gun use, just in case, and does pretty alright (they train at a typical gun range after he gets the proper licenses)

- Dante eventually heads his own event security gig, and manages pretty well. He’s doing it with his group of friends, so they goof off a bit over radio, which he scolds them for, though lightheartedly

- He does experience some rough gigs, not ever quite inversion level but there was a time when a clan of vampires descended on a large event being held in a stadium that had similar levels of danger, with luckily less losses

- One day, when Dante is ~25, David gets pretty sick, though is not in any danger, simply is somewhat immobilized and can’t perform his usual duties. Asher takes over, as a beta typically does, but starts trying to convince Dante to take over as alpha, which has been a previous conversation before, especially between Dante and David, but Asher is now making it a bit more urgent, and Dante is resistant to the idea.

- Dante says something along the lines of David not being dead, just sick, so he doesn’t need to take over yet, since he’s scared of taking over so soon. Asher flinches at that, and things become awkward. He eventually apologizes, but Asher insists it’s okay.

- Dante takes some convincing, but eventually decides to step up and take over, after David promises to support him in learning his duties.

- He picks Ashlyn to be his beta, and she does a good job! His takeover of the pack goes pretty well, mostly because everyone was expecting it anyways. David recovers fully, and helps him keep everything orderly, and keeps being in charge of the security company for a few more years before signing that over to him as well.

tonight at a big family dinner my aunt was telling some of us ladies one way she finds her husband annoying. they’re in their fifties and have been married like 30+ years and are super in love they are never getting divorced. anyway she’s a funny lady my aunt and she’s clearly good humored about it but is being straight with us: she can’t stand when he says “hey that’s a good idea” in a surprised voice any time she has a good idea. you know, basically describing the casual misogyny of her husband. it’s the great pastime of our foremothers etc etc. and my mom gets soooo fucking anxious about this shit all the time it’s kinda funny. she jumps in and is like “but that’s why you love him” in that sort of aww shucks kind of way, as if my aunt was describing goofball behavior not patronizing behavior. and my aunt just responds yeah yeah as if she didn’t really fully hear my mom, was just instinctually responding, and then the moment passes and she continues being funny but I’m just like…no, that is not one of the reasons she loves him. it was explicitly a reason she gets aggravated with him. even when she was being good natured and telling a funny story, the main crux of it was to laud her own problem solving skills that she knows are better than her husband’s, my mom can’t help but defend a man. she is not a girl’s girl, my mom. she’s all for the fellas. wish she would just learn to plant some hater energy in her heart for men instead of, uhhh, her kids who don’t perform the script she makes up for them in her head correctly. the great tragedy of my life is I should have been born to a mom who couldn’t give less of a shit about a man’s feelings but instead I was born to Heterosexuality’s Biggest Hype Man

"To name the heavens" - LMK AU Prologue

This is an AU created by @your-average-art-dealer combining Lego Monkie Kid and Warrior Cats. This chapter takes place before the main story of LMK WC and details the day LittleCloud (MK) got his warrior name. This is my first ever fic so please keep that in mind while reading!

LittlePaw was terrified. It wasn’t hard to tell- from his fidgeting paws to his quick breaths, he was a bundle of nerves from head to tail. This wasn’t without reason, of course, at sunset he would be receiving his warrior name!

Except… he wasn’t a warrior, not even close. Cicada, one of his dads caregivers, had told him stories of the abandoned cities and mystic realms beyond the walls of their Twoleg’s noodle shop. The tales of great protectors, powerful factions, cosmic powers beyond the wildest imaginations, and the noble origins behind a warrior’s name.

Ever since LittlePaw could remember, Cicada has made it clear that he wanted LittlePaw to follow standard naming traditions, ensuring that he would first possess the suffixes “Kit” then “Paw” and finally he would be given an extension to his name worthy of his accomplishments and skill!- when he was ready…

He wasn’t ready. He would never be ready. He would never be worthy. He wasn’t smart, or powerful, or charismatic, or-

“LittlePaw?”

LittlePaw jumped and swiftly turned to look at the owner of the voice. It was PigBelly. Of course, it was. He could always tell when LittlePaw was worried or sick or any state of being that wasn’t his normal ‘laid-back goofball’ self, and today was no exception. 

Pigbelly jumped up onto the stone wall, sitting next to Littlepaw. “You doin’ alright, kit?”

No. “Yup! Why do you ask?” He lied, flashing a big smile at his guardian. He hoped it would be enough to fool him, but PigBelly only looked at him with concern.

“Y’know you can talk to me, right? it’s not a bad thing… to ask for help when you’re nervous—”

“I’m not nervous!” LittlePaw retorted.

PigBelly let out a heavy sigh and continued “I know you’ve built the whole ‘warrior name’ thing up in your head cuz of the way Cicada talks about how ‘important’ it is,” he rolled his eyes “But it doesn’t really matter- it doesn’t!”

LittlePaw looked down at his paws. “Doesn’t it though? Isn’t your warrior name supposed to mean something? To tell others what makes you special? To define who you are—”

“Nobody gets to tell you who you are, LittlePaw. Nobody.  Not other cats, not the universe, and definitely not some name.”

LittlePaw let a small smile creep onto his face, trying to ignore how wet his eyes felt.

PigBelly looked at him and smiled  “And if anyone EVER tries to tell you who you are-” he chuckled a bit “I’ll make sure they won’t be able to say anything ever again!”

“What?! Pigbelly!” LittlePaw laughed.

“I’m just sayin’!” he turned back to the view beyond the wall “You startin’ to feel better?”

LittlePaw blinked away the wetness in his eyes and sniffed “Yeah…” he looked back at the noodle shop behind them and then back down at his paws “Still though… What if I don’t get a name I like? I wouldn’t want to be called something I don’t like forever…”

“Then we’ll call you something you do like, how’s that sound?”

“...”

“That sounds nice…”

“Perfect! Now come on, the ceremony’s about to start.” he jumped off the wall and started toward the noodle shop before turning back to LittlePaw. “Come on, you wouldn’t want to keep the other kits gettin’ their names tonight waiting do ya?”

LittlePaw looked back up beyond the concrete at the sunlit grass and the orange and yellow hues of the clouds that he held so dear to his heart, the heart which was so heavy at this moment in time. He wished the clouds would just wrap around him and lift the weight off of his soul the same way they lifted the sun. He took a deep breath, he didn’t want his father to worry, and so he laughed “No, I guess not!” taking one last look past the wall, he jumped down towards the shop’s back door where PigBelly was waiting for him.

The sun was going down when they arrived at the ceremony, and LittlePaw had noted that almost every cat in the city that still followed warrior traditions was there. Most he recognized, but some he did not. PigBelly led him to where two other kits were waiting to get their names and then left to sit with CicadaWing, who had arrived before the other two.

LittlePaw knew that today could change his life forever, for better or for worse, but he knew there was nothing he could do to get out of this, so he decided to strike up a conversation with the other two kits next to him.

“So… what do you guys think your names will be?”

The smaller of the two spoke first. “I think my name will be something epic! Like… like HawkTalon! Or HawkStrike! Or—”

“HawkTalon is NOT a cool name! Besides mine will be SO much better than yours!” The taller of the two said.

“Nuh-uh!”

“Yup!” he continued “It’ll be something majestic! Maybe something like GoldenLeaf! Yeah, that sounds good!

“That name is NOT cooler than my names!” she screeched

“Yes, it is!”

Judging by what LittlePaw heard, he guessed that their names were HawkPaw and GoldenPaw—

Something in the back of his mind interjected- “Not for long though! Just like me…”

He tried to push that thought farther back in his mind as he continued to listen to the two bicker for what felt like an eternity-  until the ceremony leader, whose name he definitely learned and definitely remembered, called the kits to stand before him.

He began by stating how important of a day it was for the three kits in front of him, which made LittlePaw feel sick to his stomach, and then going on to explain the order they would be called upon and given their names. 

HawkPaw was up first. LittlePaw wasn’t really able to hear them very well over his beating heart but he tried to pick up as much as he could:

“HawkPaw, for your bravery, strength, and-” his voice was fading in and out “For your intensity and spirit-” Why was everything blurry? “your title from here until the end of time-” LittlePaw’s head shot up “will be HawkHeart!”

HawkHeart beamed and started to jump up and down, saying her name over and over again like she wouldn’t want to say anything else ever again. She was told to take her place back in line and GoldenPaw was called to step forward next.

LittlePaw started to feel a little better seeing HawkHeart so ecstatic about her name. He thought if HawkHeart got a name she loved so much, why wouldn’t he? He began to get lost in the possibilities about what kind of name he might get when—

“GoldenPool!”

The leader’s voice cut through his thoughts, causing him to jump. LittlePaw looked up to see GoldenPool looking quite happy with his new name (or at least looking decently smug about it) and he stepped back to take his place back in line with the others.

LittlePaw’s newfound excitement was starting to dissolve his worry as he was called up to receive his name.

The leader looked at LittlePaw with an unreadable expression and began:

“LittlePaw, from the moment I or anyone else in attendance is concerned, you have made it very clear to us exactly who you are since the very beginning-”

LittlePaw looked up at him with a smile, which quickly turned to a look of horror at the disdain written all over the leader’s face.

“You, LittlePaw, are scatterbrained-”

The light faded

“Implusive-”

The wind stopped

“And dimwitted.”

The clouds were gone

“Because of this, your new name-”

The sun was falling

“From now until the end of time-”

Nothing remained

“Will be LittleCloud.”

The Earth Avatar

So one thing Legend of Korra did great was make sure not to repeat most story and character beats from The Last Airbender.

Aang was a simple monk with spiritual upbringing, communing with nature and peace. He was also out of his time, and being introduced to this world as an audience we learned about all forms of bending as Aang learned about all forms of bending. Culminating in ending a long war.

Korra was a rough and tough gal with a rural upbringing. Punch first, ask questions later. She was one with bending that came easy, because we the audience already knew about the forms of bending. One thing we never saw through Aang was the struggle to learn airbending. So like a 4th book to the first series, we got to see the avatar learn airbending. Korra was sheltered never traveling like her past life, and so we see the new Republic city through her eyes. Someone who has never been to the city. The rest of her story builds on lore in the world and the evolution of the people in it. Each season she faced a different "tyrant" whose stance has good intentions but they become villains.

I'm trying to think of what types of things neither series touched on that the 3rd series could explore. The only things we know are -They're an Earth Kingdom native -Their only past life connection will be with Korra

What kinds of stories have we not seen the avatar go through? Let me speculate below

My first thought is highly desirable but feels unlikely which would be for this avatar to be nonbinary. Having the Korrasami ending makes it feel not totally impossible. But I'm not holding my breath for this one.

Have the Avatar be an adult. The original audience of the series are all adults now. It would be fitting to have a series about an adult avatar.

Learn about the new avatar gradually through flashbacks. Perhaps there could be a mystery tied to information they've forgotten or are trying to keep hidden.

Have the avatar grow up in the city, and be forced to adjust to being thrown into a rural environment (opposite of Korra). Learning about the differences in life between the two.

Have the avatar be a parent. We haven't witnessed what it's like to be a young child with an avatar parent. We've only seen the avatar's children as adults.

Expand on the treatment of nonbenders. this was the biggest plot point that LoK kind of abandoned once Amon was gone.

Possibly discover a way to reconnect the avatar to all previous past lives. With only Korra as a guide, I feel like she might not excel at guidance, so being able to reconnect to history could empower this avatar. Just like Korra reconnected to her bending.

The previous avatar spirits have been zen and helpful. Korra's spirit should challenge that cliche. Perhaps her spirit gets angry with the avatar and she ignores them at times.

Have this avatar be an intellectual. Korra had a jock personality (gryffindor). Aang had a goofball, spiritual personality (hufflepuff). Perhaps this avatar reads and studies about everything in theory but struggled to put it into practice (ravenclaw).

Have this avatar have a physical disability. Toph was blind, we saw a waterbender with no arms. It would be new to see an avatar that is perhaps deaf or hard of hearing, be unable to walk, colorblind, or have only one seeing eye.

Have the avatar deal with death. Aang learns about all the people he lost but he never lost someone right in front of him. If this series is permitted to not be a kids show, it could deal with death head-on.

Have the avatar be one that needs redemption (slytherin). Now this is unlikely, but what if we were introduced to an avatar that rejected destiny and made selfish choices, and we learn all the things that pushed them down that path, maybe it would be too much of a repeat of Zuko's journey. But there are more ways to build a redemption arc.

okay @potatoes-tomatoes just posted a character analysis on ed, and it was such an incredible take that i had to make my own post to add on to it. the link to their post is HERE, please check it out!

i think oftentimes edd is regarded as being an intelligent, genius-type and eddy is noted as being the classic scam artist/conman archetype, and while these are great, i think ed is sometimes written off as being a goofball or silly friend. this is (obviously) not an incorrect take by any means, as much of ed's persona IS comic relief/goofiness, but one aspect of ed that i always think about is that ed is CREATIVE.

ed is interested in art, comics, television/film, costumes, even dancing and music! ed is consistently an artistic mastermind, and beyond arts, ed is creative and imaginative in his head, too. his obsessions with monsters, aliens, all sorts of creatures in comic books/films are very noticeable through his character in the series. from the monster ed episode to him sketching "photos" of the cul-de-sac kids, it's a reoccurring theme that ed is creative.

on the post by @potatoes-tomatoes , they note that ed's character arc is notably less explored throughout the show, and this is something i definitely agree with. until reading their post, i never thought of a great explanation for why this is. there are also the commonly raised questions about neglect/abuse with ed (as with most of the characters, to be fair) especially in the instances of sarah's degrading behavior to him and his parents letting him be disturbingly unhygienic and doing things like taking away his stairs and the implied physical punishment he would get from his father at the end of that one episode. these (reasonably) raise a lot of questions about ed's backstory/developmental concerns, but what this poster said was very insightful—ed seems to suffer from a classic case of his younger sibling being the favorite.

emotional neglect is a very real thing, and while some signs have pointed to physical abuse or genuine physical/parental neglect, i think emotional neglect is clearly the most impactful result of trauma that ed has suffered from. his "outbursts" of noise and innapropriate laughter/timing for comments and jokes are all notable effects of this, and his lack of boundaries and personal space with his friends and difficulties with hygiene/self-care can also be linked back to an unstable relationship with his assumed primary emotional caregivers—his parents.

now, this is probably a good reason for ed's astounding creativity and array of niche/expansive interests as well. he finds peace and individuality, as well as affirming and inspiring things in his interests. they belong to him, and he gets to cultivate that section of his world, making it comfortable and he therefore feels more "understood." it's definitely possible that ed is just a creative guy, but it's also likely that this creativity is exacerbated by his lack of emotional support from his parents.

this leads to where he would find emotional support—the eds.

what @potatoes-tomatoes said about the eds acting as ed's parents makes a TON of sense, and it makes even more sense when considering that ed's character development arc happened before the show started or, alternatively, is a subliminal thing happening every episode, every season. they encourage ed's creativity and take his voice into account for scams and such. they listen to ed, even when he doesn't make very much sense. they support and acknowledge his interests, even when they use it for scams/science, and they engage in his interests by asking him about said interests and affirming his own interest in these things. they support him and engage with him, and they don't exclude him from anything, even though he may not fully understand what's taking place. he has an established role as a part of the trio, and specifically in the episode of ed getting grounded, they NOTICE when he isn't around.

they notice, and they care. they just him out of his room, and ed is instantly shining when he sees his friends faces—proof that the emotional impact they have on him is HUGE, doing things for his mood and self-esteem that things like getting his stairs taken away or being locked in the basement are suddenly turned near-irrelevant. ed clearly values the hell out of having an emotional connection to his friends, one that validates his identity and existence, and supports his creativity and imagination. the support he lacks from his parents is made very clear in his affection and loyalty to his friends, who honor and appreciate him.

this is my add to the take mentioned before, and before i get comments about how eddy and eddy torment ed i want to put a disclaimer that yes i know they take advantage of him at times and they are cruel, and they might not be the *best* friends on paper. i just mean that generally ed is obviously comfortable and feels cared for/loved by his friends which is clearly very important to him

It's not really a question, but an idea popped into my head, I watched Days of Future Past recently, imagine a student from the future, for some reason (a power I don't know) manages to go back in time and become best friends with her favorite teacher when he was younger (Peter obviously!) I don't know if anything can come out of this, but in my head the idea was brilliant lol 😝

I’ve been meaning to respond to this ask !! I thought it was absolutely delightful !!

Days of Future Past is so cozy to me. There’s just something about the way the time period is presented - with all those lovable characters - that makes it feel so genuine and fun. I’m a goofball with a childlike imagination. Nothing is more comforting to me than imagining being there tbh. As silly as it sounds.

This concept absolutely warms my heart, since it fulfills that silly dream.

Anyway, I have some thoughts under the cut !!

Peter Maximoff headcanons - Student reader goes back in time and meets their favorite, speedster teacher in his teen years!

We know Peter eventually becomes a teacher in canon. I’m not really sure what he teaches, since they never really clarified. But there’s no doubt in my mind he’d be great at his job.

Mr. Maximoff is definitely a more laid back kinda teacher

I do imagine he’s the type to playfully mess with any students who act out of line. I’ve had teachers like that before in the past. The ones who take no shit and lightheartedly tease students. That’s absolutely on brand for Peter

I also get the vibe he’d be so “how do you do fellow kids” about everything

And the students would think he’s cool anyway. I mean, he’s fast. He loves cool music - and probably some really cool movies/shows/games too!

I imagine he’d deck out his classroom/office in all kinds of pop culture memorabilia. Very similar to the way he decorated his basement back when he lived at his mom's

Reader as a mutant student would be no different than the other kids. Y’all know you’d think he was the coolest teacher there ever was. Some of you might even look up to him! And maybe also develop a harmless crush. He is handsome, after all.

Imagine your surprise - after you’ve gone back in time for mission with some of the X-Men. It’s part of your training. You never thought you’d get the chance to time travel, of all things. Or, if we're following DoFP canon; maybe you went back in time with Logan? You're one of the last surviving mutants, and your mutation is useful somehow. It could go either way!

But Mr. Maximoff is there in the past. Only, he’s seventeen, acting on impulse, and being a playful nuisance.

He thinks you’re weird as hell. You totally bizarre, future kid. But you’re also pretty alright...since you think he's so cool 'n all. Most people just think he's a freak. And hey, you're a mutant like him! He doesn't know a lot of mutants yet!

And how the heck are you from the future - but you somehow know all the bands he likes, the movies he’s into, the shows he watches, even the games he plays??

Spoiler alert - it’s because Mr. Maximoff has a tendency to show off all his favorite things in class. Dude can’t go a single day without referencing Galaga, or Star Wars, or David Bowie, or whatever else

If you’re allowed to disclose any info about the future, you’ll probably tell him he gets a teaching job. Not only that, but the kids all love him

To which he responds with a - tsh, yeah. Right.

Why would he ever become a teacher?? He hates school! He can’t ever focus in class! His grades are the worst, and he bombs every test! C’mon…no way! What’re you tryin’ to pull his leg???
