Y’all ever heard of epigenetics?

Okay, mildly (though some not) angsty parent!Darlin and parent!Sam headcanons for what their kid would be like (focusing on ages 15-19)

So; for starters, the name I chose for my lil guy, the son of Sam and Darlin, is Samuel Jr. Sylvester Collins-Barrera (Barrera being the last name I hc for my Darlin)

Also, my hc for Darlin is that they’re half or fully Mexican and can speak Spanish fluently

Gonna start off with average character stuff

- Everyone his age calls him Samuel, some of the older pack call him Junior, to differentiate from his father

- He’s fluent in Spanish, lies about it though to take a Spanish class to breeze through a couple credits for high school

- Now, this one depends on what mood I’m in, but he’s either a Freelancer or a Shifter before he gets turned (more on that later), orrr if I’m feeling real funky and wanna ignore some canon lore I make him a bit of a hybrid, able to shift but quite adept at freelancer magics

- Him and Darlin’ spar, so his combat ability is honed to the point of them being evenly matched by the time he’s 19, but he can never quite defeat them in a match

- When he gains access to his magic at 13, Sam teaches him some small magic, and starts teaching him healing, which he picks up quickly

- Eventually specializes in healing, with a minor in illusions and dabbles in elemental magic at D.A.M.N. (This is in the further future though so this isn’t in a timeline order or anything)

- He shifts accidentally for the first time at home with Sam, 3 days after the solstice, not a very fun experience :(, and Darlin isn’t home, so Sam kinda freaks out cuz he doesn’t know what to do

- Not going to discuss the other pack kid headcanons here much (different post perhaps?) but basically, David has a son, and Samuel (the kid I’m talking about in this post) has a crush on him (him being the son of David)

- Vivienne, Vincent’s daughter, and him are very close, both being kids of clan-less vampire parents, so they can relate to each other the most

- He’s just as much of a vigilante as Darlin was, which makes his parents very worried, but he can heal himself, and use magic, helping him be better off in fights

Okay, now for the angst!! Yay :D

- He and David argue a lot about his reckless actions, leading him to distance himself from David and act similarly to how Darlin did, albeit relying on the general pack much more

- This one requires a small explanation; in my headcanon of how kids of vampires work (since they kinda can’t reproduce in canon etc idk it’s weird), they still inherit the current blood of their vampire parent, as well as their parents original blood (I did take a bio class so ik it would prob be only their old blood bc of genes and gametes but it’s cooler this way lol), and if their parent’s blood is from a very strong old-blood, it can affect the child adversely when they reach the age of unlocking their magic

- Sooooo because Samuel Jr. has Solaire blood, he’s turned by his own blood trying to take over the rest of his body when he’s 15, and basically dies!! Coming back as a vampire ofc

- And this is massively depressing for Sam, like majorly,, because as his son dies in his arms he tries his best to heal him and fails, not to mention he’s now the reason his son has lost the same freedoms Sam did many years ago :(

- In my headcanon of how this works with being turned early and stuff I think Samuel Jr. continues to age until he’s physically about 19 ish

- Ofc Samuel is bitter asf and says some super vitriolic stuff to Sam, temporarily severely harming their relationship, though they make up afterwards

- While in bloodlust, Sam and Darlin try bringing him to pack stuff still, but he’s a danger to non-vampires, making things difficult

- David eventually starts to get protective of the pack, seeing him as a possible threat (does it get dehumanizing? Yeah a little bit) but David’s son doesn’t care, and hangs around Samuel even though it’s dangerous, letting him drink his blood

- At one pack event David can’t find Samuel or his son and gets a bit panicky, even though he tries to hide it, and gets Sam, eventually they find them both, David’s son (who is the same age as Samuel, my guy ain’t feeding on a child dw 🥲) sitting on a bed playing a game on his phone, with Samuel calmly drinking from his wrist

- David is confused and a little frustrated, but his son explains that Samuel still has enough control, and that just because he’s been turned doesn’t mean he should be outcasted even during bloodlust (though he’s a little bit wrong because Samuel really is a danger but yk,, it’s ok Samuel is trying really hard to be careful around him bc he still has the crush from when they were kids)

- David cares about Samuel I promise 🥲 but he’s very concerned for the general well-being of the pack

- Samuel, being a stubborn guy just like both his parents, refuses to accept that he’s a vampire and is unable to enter sunlight and does some.. very reckless experiments, essentially running into sunlight at pack gatherings when no one’s looking and having to be dragged back by one of the nearby shifters

- Eventually he finds a weird way to alter his own core with a lot of magic, but he’s not really altering it, it’s more like his core never fully changed because he only had >49% Solaire blood so it didn’t have full effect (that does mean Vincent’s daughter got fully turned though 😔) so he can oddly change between forms, still having many disadvantages ofc (mary sue? Nooooooooo why would I do that :3 I just like multi-faceted powerful folks yeeeup) like sensitivity to sunlight, and a hard limit on how long he can retain his humanity (he can seem totally human / a shifter / a freelancer for about 2 hours until his hold on the magic keeping his core the right way slips)

- So once he’s around 17 he’s got a good hold on his magic, having reaccessed it after his experiments when he was 16 ish

- ..this does mean he’s a pretty crazy fighter now after a while of practice

Nowwwww who remembers me mentioning epigenetics way at the beginning of this lol (I promise I’m almost done but he’s my favourite redacted oc 😞)

- Fair warning this may imply that Darlin has the ability to birth so erm if that isn’t your cup of tea that’s totally okay and you can ignore this bit

- Basically Darlin’s epigenetics are passed onto him, and he has some major mental baggage because of it, being far more prone to mental health problems :(

TW: ALCOHOLISM

- He also copes very unhealthily with his problems by drinking, so much so that he swears off alcohol and stays sober when he’s only 20 and still can’t drink legally (in the US at least) :((

Ok I’m feeling better (got burnt out) so now I’m gonna continue my posts about next gen redacted ocs!! I made a custom tag for these posts, so you can click that to see the rest of them :D (it’s tagged on this post)

This time: David’s son, Dante!

- His full name is Dante Gabriel Shaw

- His nickname is probably smth like Danny, so Davey and Danny lol

- He looks a lot like Gabe, his eyes being closer in shade to Gabe’s than David’s, and his facial structure & hair being very similar as well. This makes David both happy and a little sad, which Dante doesn’t understand until he’s a little older and David explains everything about Gabe to him.

- David brings him and Angel to visit Gabe’s grave regularly, and they leave dahlia flowers and honeysuckles (which i stole from other ppls flower hcs sry fhksdhjs)

- He’s besties with Ashlyn (Asher’s daughter) because of course

- He has a sort of inner circle who are all his friends in the pack, so that includes Samuel Jr., Ashlyn, and Milo’s daughter

- He’s always acted like a mini alpha, protecting his friends like David does, he started mimicking David when he was 2, attempting to do speeches to the rest of the pack toddlers

- He shifted for the first time when he was 14, a week before the winter solstice, and while it was painful, he managed pretty okay. His shifted form is very similar to his dad’s (large black wolf in my hc), but with a white swirl pattern on his right flank.

- He is the most responsible in his friend group, making sure they’re all eating, they’re on time, etc. would absolutely be the guy who has all the papers and passports when they go on an international trip.

- He may act a lot like his dad, having a gruff exterior, but it’s mostly a cover, and he can be a little goofball sometimes, like his other parent (Angel)

- He loves playing minecraft, started when he was 5, and co-ops with Angel often to make cool builds

Ok now for official alpha / security company stuff that he’d do!!

- He’s David’s only kid (in this version of things) so he’s naturally expected to become Alpha

- So, he often shadows his dad to important events, as well as security gigs

- One of the major things is he accompanies his dad to Solaire-hosted events, and while his dad greets William and shakes hands with him, Dante greets Emilie (William’s daughter), and shakes hands with her.

- She enjoys messing with him, and has held him in a couple second trance to see how he reacts (like I said in her post, she’s not great with mortals), which he eventually, after a couple meetings, can reliably break out of.

- Usually at these events, he stands around with his dad mostly separated from the vampires, interacting only with those who approach them, because David is worried about him being vulnerable to attacks or trances

- Luckily for him, Samuel Jr. (Sam’s son) is a regular attendee at these events, as William invites him, Vivienne (Vincent’s daughter), and their parents. Of course, Samuel is very protective of his friends, so whenever Dante has been at risk, he’s protected him, albeit maybe too violently, but it gets his point across.

- Now I feel like it’s a good time to mention that Samuel jr and Dante are boyfriends / eventual mates!! So it adds an extra layer considering Samuel has a rightful claim to him (the magic bite thingy), mostly for the purpose of being allowed by vampire law to protect him somewhat violently 👍 (Samuel also visits Gabe’s grave independently to leave flowers, because he’s paranoid about getting permission to date and eventually propose to Dante cuz blah blah tradition even though Gabe wouldn’t care if he were alive)

- He also shadows his dad on security gigs, learning all the best ways to keep large groups safe and orderly in case of an emergency. He also gets properly trained in gun use, just in case, and does pretty alright (they train at a typical gun range after he gets the proper licenses)

- Dante eventually heads his own event security gig, and manages pretty well. He’s doing it with his group of friends, so they goof off a bit over radio, which he scolds them for, though lightheartedly

- He does experience some rough gigs, not ever quite inversion level but there was a time when a clan of vampires descended on a large event being held in a stadium that had similar levels of danger, with luckily less losses

- One day, when Dante is ~25, David gets pretty sick, though is not in any danger, simply is somewhat immobilized and can’t perform his usual duties. Asher takes over, as a beta typically does, but starts trying to convince Dante to take over as alpha, which has been a previous conversation before, especially between Dante and David, but Asher is now making it a bit more urgent, and Dante is resistant to the idea.

- Dante says something along the lines of David not being dead, just sick, so he doesn’t need to take over yet, since he’s scared of taking over so soon. Asher flinches at that, and things become awkward. He eventually apologizes, but Asher insists it’s okay.

- Dante takes some convincing, but eventually decides to step up and take over, after David promises to support him in learning his duties.

- He picks Ashlyn to be his beta, and she does a good job! His takeover of the pack goes pretty well, mostly because everyone was expecting it anyways. David recovers fully, and helps him keep everything orderly, and keeps being in charge of the security company for a few more years before signing that over to him as well.

Oookay, so, ima yap about my next gen headcanon / oc for Vincent and Lovely's kid, if that isnt your cup of tea that is a-okay, now here goes :3

- Her name is Vivienne Solaire

- She's besties with Samuel Jr, the other next gen oc i made up, Sam and Darlins kid

- She loves cars, like her dad :D

- She's absolutely a daddy's girl, though not in a bratty way, moreso they are just very similar and enjoy sharing their hobbies!

- Vincent did buy her a car when she got her full license though.. because of course he did

- It was a pink 1970s Jaguar E-Type

- She tries asking her dad how he bagged girls back in his day and he absolutely refuses to tell her, worried that she'll become as shallow as he used to be to fit in

- ..Of course when she asks Sam, he gladly tells a bunch of stories about Vincent from before he met Lovely

- Vivienne secretly takes notes and tries it out, she's okay at it? But it doesn't feel good so she elects to adapt his style of flirting and is far more successful (consent is sexy folks)

- She learned electro energetic magic, soon before she was turned, and decided to continue trying to learn it after she became a vampire, and actually becomes pretty okay at it! Her and Samuel train using it, so she sends invisible lines of electricity through the air and Samuel uses his hearing to try to figure out where it's coming from to dodge it

- She can speak a bit of French, like how I hc Vincent can :3

- She did get fully turned by her own blood (at age 14), like how Samuel did but she wasn't able to regain her humanity because she's not part shifter (being part shifter when the blood thing happens helps imo, at least according to my hc cuz this is all made up lmao)

- It wasn't as hard for her because her parents are both vampires, so very little adaptations needed to be made, aside from alternate schooling

- Her turning actually went far smoother than Samuel's, mainly because her parents could isolate her during bloodlust properly, and she was not very upset about it, considering she wanted to be more like her parents anyways

- Also it would be hella depressing if she was mortal and never got turned and her parents outlived her :(

- If Vincent had never left the clan, she would have been close with William, and very trusting of him (..and super gullible regarding the darker side of things), more on this AU-within-an-AU later bc imo it fundamentally changes some of these characters

- She hangs around the pack a lot since she doesn't have a clan, but can't really be outside with them because of the sun :( so Samuel develops a temporary sun shield that lasts for about an hour so she can still be out with them, though there's physical drawbacks, as it takes a lot out of him to make, and she can feel some pain after (like a sunburn feeling except without the physical look) Thas most of it :3 lmk if u enjoyed!! hwhhehehehehehhehwhw guess who has another redacted next gen oc to shareeeee :D This time, it's William's daughter!! Exciting stuff Rest below the cut so I don't spam anyone's dashes

- Her full name is Emilia (aka Emma / Emily) Solaire

- She is William's only child, and heir to his throne, as Alexis has shown disinterest in ruling and Vincent has split from the clan

- I'm not sure who here remembers, but the fandom once had made up a listener name for William's 'listener' (he doesn't and may not ever have one, but we all thought that it would be cute to make one), who was unempowered, and that's sort of who I think her other parent would be, though this current rendition of her doesn't have as strong a connection to her other parent

- Unlike the other vampire children, she was not turned by her own blood when she accessed her core at puberty, but was instead born vampiric, due to her dad's Old Blood status (the turned by own blood thing was made up by me and is not canon, vampires prob cant even reproduce in canon lmao)

- So; imagine a toddler running at vampiric speed into the most dangerous part of your backyard. This is how William feels. He should be thankful he's an old blood and can keep up lmao

- I imagine William being a somewhat good parent, but I also think he wouldn't be up to speed, and would raise his children in a more old-timey fashion (he wouldn't beat his kids at all though because I say so), which means Emilia is very,, old soul seeming. Would fit in with the bingo ladies /j (she is a littleee bit modern but doesn't have a lot of tech and is out of the loop, acts a lot different to those her age, sort of distant? learned from William how best to be regal and stuff, so she's diplomatic)

- She has a very difficult time making friends because she had vampiric status since birth, and is not able to make friends with kids her own age easily (I mean, think about trying to introduce your vampiric 8-year-old to a normal 8-year-old.. thats scary as shit)

- She's the youngest out of all the Solaire kids, being two years younger than Adrian (the oldest) and one year younger than Vivienne (not Solaire, but associated)

- She's hella bossy because she's always had high status and has a difficult time seeing others as equals because she's literally never been at their level.. Portia (Porter's kid) and Adrian (Alexis's son) are her personal guards, and she makes them entertain her

- Portia is much less afraid to speak her mind, and does so regularly, to the point that Emilia reprimands her for saying treasonous things, lol, much to the chagrin and fear of Adrian, who has been taught to revere those in higher levels of the hierarchy than him, and begrudgingly goes along with all of Emilia's orders

- Emilia also has a hard time seeing mortals as important, or at all on par with herself, as she's always been immortal, vampiric, and she sees her and her typical peers (all vampires) as eternal, or at least veryyyy long-lasting, and simply views mortals as a blip in her likely long life. She grows out of this, with Samuel's (Sam and Darlin's kid) help, as he is part mortal, and helps her see the importance and power of mortals via the Shaw Pack, who is still aligned with the clan in the future (in my mind at least) though she's always still a bit high-and-mighty

Now onto the interesting plot for her personal storyline :3

- Once she reaches ~18, she decides she wants the throne, and conspires to overthrow her father. She recruits her guards and outside players to help her, so there's herself, Portia, Adrian, Samuel Jr., and Vivienne.

- Samuel only agreed because she promised that, if she came into power, she would ensure the safety of the Shaw Pack by devoting some of her people to protect them, instead of just using the reach of her power to imply protection (cough cough William), and yk, she certainly knows how to get Samuel under her thumb because it immediately worked lmao

- Vivienne agreed because Samuel did, and she harbours more loyalty to the Solaire House than she would generally let on, secretly desiring a place among vampiric peers, having been denied that since her turning.

- So, their plan goes as such; (let me clarify they are totally underestimating him and are overconfident lmao) - Samuel will take out Porter early, to prevent interference - Alexis will not be around on the day they plan to execute this, so she isn't factored in - They will catch William while he's doing his usual walk through the woods in his remote estate, when he is unlikely to have a way of contacting help with him, and is too far away from Dahlia to escape to safety - Samuel will be the first to attack, given his general magical prowess, granting him an advantage in distracting William, and a better chance to evade initial parries. He also has a source of daemon / demon blood, and will coat the edge of his sword in it, which will severely weaken William - Adrian and Portia will come up next, them and Samuel forming a triangle to contain William in the area, slowly weathering down his defenses - Vivienne will be taking her time throughout this to charge up a strong burst of electro magic, and will wait until the perfect opening to unleash it directly on him, hopefully immobilizing him, given that he already has da/emon blood in his system. - Then, they will surround him, and Emilia will come up, manipulating blood magic to keep him disadvantaged (since I hc William has formed the ability to control Solaire blood, and his daughter has also learned to do so) - Then, she politely asks for the crown, and should he refuse, they kill him (atp, if everything goes right, he will be severelyyy weakened by the da/emon blood and the lightening strike, making this somewhat possible) - Bam! Throne is taken easy as pie There's multiple possible endings;

1. She gets the crown without fuss because William doesn't mind granting it to her (after he's been defeated)

2. He gives them a run for their money but eventually agrees, but is not defeated at any point

3. They somehow manage to kill him, and she ascends to the throne with blood on her hands

4. He defeats them, and imprisons all of them, granting mercy but insisting on rehabilitation of some kind

5. SO! Next installment of my series of posts detailing the ocs I made up for the next gen of redacted characters (aka the kids of redacted characters) At the time of writing this, the dynamic of Samuel Jr. and Adrian is winning on the poll I posted! Samuel Jr. is the kid of Sam & Darlin in my AU-ish thing, and Adrian is the son of Alexis Getty! For starters, I am going to write out what I think needs to be known about Adrian for all this to hit home properly, I may make a longer post about him if I feel this doesn't cover it but thats for later - Full name: Adrian Getty - Ranking in the House: Duke - Son of Alexis Getty, he is the result of a fling between her and a man from another clan (this makes him literally an official bastard) - He vehemently dislikes his mother, as they have a very unhealthy relationship, considering how, like Samuel, he was turned by his own blood (except fully), and therefore, Alexis counts as his maker, and invokes him as a disciplinary measure. William has not stopped this, because he is unaware. - I have anon asks off so if u really love Alexis im sorry but u cant yell at me for this - He is a guard for Emily Solaire, daughter of William Solaire, mostly as a formality, and to give him a purpose within the clan. Now! Onto the actual dynamic Imagine that your child, and your ex's child, meet each other, and decide to continue your feud. That's how it feels for poor ol' Sam. Samuel and Adrian hate each other. Sort of. Adrian hates Samuel, but Samuel thinks it's really funny.

- They take turns provoking each other, and end up trying to beat each other up.. in front of multiple vampiric nobles.. not a great look for their parents - It's kind of gay? hear me out- - Samuel flirts a lot with Adrian, provoking him into sparring - Adrian is like.. definitely gay but has majorly repressed it, bro is in denial (mainly bc he assumes Alexis won't accept him, and will just harm him further for it :(( ) - Samuel is trying to help him? Probably. but also who wouldn't want to provoke their attractive vampire rival - Ok but he really is trying to help - After a while of meeting up at events, they finally hang around outside of official vampire territory, and mostly just spar, but sometimes talk! like normal folks - One day, after Samuel undergoes some p r e t t y b a d t r a u m a, he's all bandaged up, and Adrian shows up to spar, but decides to leave him to rest, despite Samuel's protests that he's still capable - At their next match, he goes way easier on Samuel, which leads Samuel to question him, saying that he's recovered now - Turns out, seeing him injured made Adrian realize he actually does care about Samuel's wellbeing, and they agree to a truce, deciding to not fight literally every time they see each other - They become friends! And they confide in each other about their problems, creating a really strong bond - They still definitely enjoy fighting though, since they are at about an equal level, making it a fun challenge - Before they became friends, whenever Samuel would show up somewhere (at like a Solaire event or sm) with Vivienne after they'd gotten some kind of treat (slushie etc) Samuel would bring him a lemon snack, and lemon is Adrian's favourite flavour :3 obviously Adrian pretends to be pissed off but he really does appreciate it Now how do their parents feel? Alexis hates everything about them hanging around each other. She repeatedly invokes Adrian to stay away from him and push him away, but Samuel finds a way around the invokation, using their blood bond (yes theyre blood bonded ooooh) to skirt around it Sam? He's kind of unsure at first, and doesn't really trust Adrian, but he warms up to it, and supports Adrian whenever he comes to their house for help or just to hang around. He makes Samuel and Adrian hot cocoa when it's cold out :3 and he's happy that his son is helping Adrian out, even if they had initially been fighting because of their parents' feud. Okay guys I’m SUPER bored at work so I’m going to post about a next-gen oc again!!!

This time, it’s Mia Greer, daughter of Milo Greer and Sweetheart :3

(I’ll post about Asher’s daughter after I just need to think about her more first)

- So, her name is Mia Greer, and yes I did kind of gender swap the names of the dads when I decided names for Ashlyn and Mia,, anywho

- She’s confident and feisty, like her dad, and persistent and stubborn like her other parent, Sweetheart

- She’s part-stealth and part-shifter, so she can both shift and cloak, though if she does both at once it’s not incredibly effective, but just shifting is fine, and with training she can cloak incredibly well

- Once she’s 16 she starts a youth internship at DUMP (usual unpaid internship type job), much to the chagrin of her father and the worry of Sweetheart

- She applies to become a detective when she turns 19, and starts work doing small-time investigations

- She’s close with Dante (David’s son) and Ashlyn (Asher’s daughter), as well as Samuel Jr. (Sam’s son), and becomes the pack’s next DUMP insider / info person once they’re all adults

- She actually doesn’t like DUMP, thinking of it in a similar way as her dad, but still overworks herself in her job, just like Sweetheart, determined to help those who need it

- She gets into many disagreements with the administration and her bosses, but manages to keep her job each time, due to the quality of her work

- At a certain point, she gets extremely fed up with everyone calling her just Greer, attributing her current role to having been inspired by her grandfather, which it absolutely was not. So, she legally changes her last name to have Sweetheart’s last name hyphenated with Greer, as a bit of a ‘screw you’ to the brass

- She eventually comes across a man who, despite hearing about her previous disagreements with her bosses, decides to take her on as his subordinate, choosing to help her rise in the ranks.

- She eventually gets assigned two people to work under her on investigations, a telepath and a healer. They end up becoming friends, and work very well together. The telepath is a bit of a scaredy-cat, and the healer is very practical and logic-based, meaning Mia helps balance things out, being feisty and hard to scare, as well as being a bit more impulsive.

- She rises in rank and manages to make minor changes to some of DUMP’s policies, benefitting many, albeit in a small way, but she also befriends those higher in rank than her and gets them to make some of the necessary changes !!

That’s probably mostly it for now cuz my mind is blanking atm but maybe I’ll reblog this with more cuz there is other stuff I think

Ok who likes the idea of dad!Porter ??

That may have been rhetorical because I’m gonna blab about his daughter anyways 👍 this is the next instalment of me blabbing about my redacted next gen ocs!

- Her full name is Portia Solaire, William allowed her to have the last name of the House as she is Porter’s kid and therefore affiliated like he is

- She has a British accent, like her dad! And similar humour / personality to him

- We don’t know whether or not Porter’s maker was an old blood (Porter’s maker is mentioned in the official timeline but I don’t think it mentions how old he was?), so (for my headcanon about vampire children) I’m not sure if she’s turned by her own blood or if she asks to be turned / has to be turned to be saved when she’s 16 or so, but either way she becomes a vampire at around the same time as the other kids

- Porter taught her to fight from a very young age, initially being a fun bonding experience when she was young with a wooden sword, but now she can give him a run for his money, and manages to beat him around the age of 18-19

- Also, depending on the version of her that I’m talking about they’re nonbinary, they/she or they/them, but the one I currently will be including is she/they probably, so if you notice any inconsistencies it’s just because I imagine them / her in a couple different ways gender-wise

- She, like Adrian (Alexis’s son), receives a sword when she turns 16/17 and is out of bloodlust (as William gives each of his ‘grandkids’ a sword as a partially ceremonial thing and also because he wants them to be able to protect themselves), and he makes her a guard of his daughter (heir to the throne) Emilia.

- Together, her and Adrian can protect Emilia efficiently, as Adrian does defense and Portia does offense

- Portia is the more outspoken between her and Adrian, openly criticizing Emilia when she power trips a bit, leading to Emilia reprimanding her (not that it’s very effective)

- Portia also spars with Samuel, though is less unhinged about it than Adrian, and she’s the one that teaches Samuel to beat Porter when Emilia makes her plan to ascend to the throne with force

- Eventually, she, like her father, will become the next sword of the house, the weapon they point at their enemies to win. When Emilia ascends to the throne, through whatever means, she will replace Porter and take up that role in his stead

- Porter doesn’t like the idea of this, yet knows the inevitability of it, and so teaches her as best he can to do what he does.

This is all I have for now, I think! Hdksgdjs I’m kinda tired at work so I might have forgotten some stuff or not written this as well but I tried! Long story short, she’s a hell of a lot like Porter, which is.. both good and bad, I guess

Oki dokes folks, I made a post a bit ago about my next gen ocs, Samuel Jr. Collins-Barrera (Sam and Darlin's kid) and Adrian Getty (Alexis's son), talking about their dynamic I mentioned a bit of Adrian's backstory, and his personality, but didn't go too in-depth, so now I will with a post specifically about him! If you want to read that post after, there's a tag on this post that'll lead u to all my next-gen posts

Y'all know the drill, basic info first, then some more detailed specifics - Full name is Adrian Getty

- Full title is Adrian Getty, Duke of the House of Solaire (this is also what he would introduce himself as formally)

- His mother is Alexis Getty, his father is absent, as he was the result of a hookup, making him illegitimate, although William does not care, and still grants him his title

- He doesn't have many friends, since he is rather isolated, having been turned at a young age by his own blood (according to my hc, children of vampires can be turned when they unlock their core if they have vampiric blood from an Old Blood), so he mainly hangs around Emilia Solaire (William's daughter) and Portia Solaire (Porter's daughter), as they are in the same boat.

- He's also kind of a jerk, mainly because he doesn't know how else to act given his upbringing (cough cough Alexis)

- His favourite flavour for basically anything is lemon! He becomes partial to Samuel Jr. moreso when he gives him lemon snacks

- He can speak a bit of French as well, like Vivienne (Vincent's daughter, I made a post about her a bit ago), though he's much more fluent than her, and becomes fully fluent around 19, since I hc that the kids of the House can all speak some French since I assume William would teach them

- He has a sword that was given to him by William when he reached 16 and was out of bloodlust, at the same time as he was granted the title of Duke

- He is one of Emilia Solaire's personal guards, mainly as a formality, since she is rarely in actual danger, but it helps make the clan look proper.

- He's gay, but closeted, though he figures it out and comes out a bit later (around 18-19)

Okay now for angst stuff, mainly about his upbringing

- Since he was an accident, his mother is.. not very nice to him, and they argue regularly

- Alexis invokes him as a disciplinary measure, to keep him in check, and this affects his mental health very negatively

I feel I must clarify that I do like Alexis as a character since she has depth, but I don't think she'd be a good mother if she were to have a kid suddenly at this point in the storyline (we will see if she gets a redemption arc though)

- Part of the reason he's closeted is that he's worried Alexis will harm him further for it, although she wouldn't, but he doesn't know that and is too nervous to test the waters

- After a lot of fighting and being at each other's throats, he becomes friends with Samuel Jr, who helps him better himself, come to terms with being gay, and become nicer, leading to him getting more actual friends, specifically befriending Portia and Emilia properly, and making up with Vivienne (Vincent's daughter, who he has also been a jerk to)

- Eventually he sort of sees Sam (the dad not the son lol) as a father figure, because once Sam realizes he's a good kid, and not like his mother, he helps him, and allows him to stay with his family when he needs to, giving him a proper safe space That's about it! Okay time for the Ashlyn post (another next gen oc!!)

- Daughter of Asher and Baaabe, her full name is Ashlyn Gabbie Talbot

- Yes her name is a genderswapped version of his cuz it’s funny and I think he’d try that

- She was born a year after Dante (David’s son), and is a shifter like her dad!

- She’s got very similar humour to Asher, and is the pack’s next goofball

- Shes good at keeping morale up in some tense situations that the pack gets into!

- Her favourite video game is Destiny 2, and she plays Minecraft together with Dante

- She shadows Asher during security gigs, and learns to shoot, like Dante did, and does pretty well at it :3

- She learns combat from Samuel Jr. (Sam’s son) because she was previously below par for self defense, and wanted to learn it after a kidnapping attempt against her (Asher absolutely taught her to fight, but that fighting style wasn’t conducive to split second defense, moreso offense during security gigs)

- I posted about Milo’s daughter Mia before this, and guess what!! Ashlyn and Mia, once they turn 16, start dating and eventually become mates :3 Asher thinks the idea of being in-laws with Milo is hilarious, whereas Milo dreads it (light-heartedly, of course)

- She can’t cook.. and one time when Mia is making a soup she walks up and asks where the can is, confusing Mia because, ya know, she was making it from scratch?? And Ashlyn is shocked, apparently not realizing you don’t need a can for soup ?? Much to the concern of Mia, who proceeds to teach her how to cook because wtf

- She’s Dante’s pick for Beta once he becomes Alpha, and she takes up the role well, albeit with some hesitation. She questions Dante as to why he would choose her rather than someone “more capable”, like Samuel Jr (Sam’s son, Dante’s mate), who’s better in combat and has vampiric connections, or Mia, who’s logical and tactical.

- He tells her that 1) he wouldn’t pick Samuel because he has a criminal record with DUMP and 2) he wouldn’t pick Mia because she’s already got enough on her plate with detective work and 3) she’s better for the role than both of them, balancing the pack and keeping up morale like she does

- She accepts that answer, and eventually becomes confident in her role, more so than Asher, as she felt it was better to voice her concerns whereas he bottled them up
