I think my favorite aspect of the Hades II announcement is the idea that, somewhere in the underworld, a very thunderstruck Zagreus is demanding, "What do you MEAN, I have a sister?!"
#hades#hades 2#hades ii#zagreus#melinoe#yep she's confirmed to be Melinoe#can't wait for those family conversations#my second favorite aspect of this announcement#is the fact that Zagreus' story was all Intimate Family Business#whereas Melinoe is out here to fuck up the Titans themselves#which I suppose is also Family Business#of a slightly higher order of magnitude in terms of Taking Care Of Shit

I don’t know how to explain any more clearly that it doesn’t MATTER if it seems legitimate to you. You have got to fact check every single headline and post and claim on the left just like you need to do on the right.
The left is NOT immune to misinformation and rushed reporting. And the more emotionally polarizing or shocking the talking points, sound bytes, and headlines are, the worse it is and more frequently it happens.
Learn to verify through multiple independent sources. If you can’t do that, you can’t trust it.
If you have to wait extra hours for the real information to come through vetted channels—NOT just one individual somewhere everyone links to, and not just one single media source either, EVEN if it’s a major news network—thats just how it has to be. What news outside of genuine local disasters near you TRULY needs your outrage and post-sharing in the next hour specifically?
Misinformation works best by not seeming like misinformation and by fitting in with the rest of what you already expect to see. It doesn’t help anyone to not be able to recognize and avoid the stuff.
#hey little star whatcha gonna queue?#and before I get any angry anons saying I’m making the argument that both sides are the same#I am not. and nowhere did I say that#and if your immediate reaction to any amount of criticism of leftist spaces or communication#is knee jerk outrage and defensiveness#this is an invitation to explore why that is for you.#this isn’t about anyone on here this is from conversations I’ve had with a few people IRL who have shared leftist misinformation a lot#so if you’re feeling attacked by this post and I haven’t directly spoken to you multiple times about misinformation with you responding bac#this isn’t. a vague post. about you. okay?#I cannot reiterate enough THIS IS AFTER IRL INTERACTIONS NOT A CAL OUT VAGUEPOST#and as one final note. IF YOU FOLLOW PEOPLE. WHO CONSTANTLY USE. THE MOST INFLAMMATORY WORDING CHOICES POSSIBLE.#YOU SHOULD NOT FOLLOW THOSE PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT THEY TALK ABOUT.#no one communicating in true good faith to ALL PEOPLE about facts uses loaded language more than occasionally#the sooner you learn that the better. and that really starts narrowing down the pool of who you want to actually listen to (while still#verifying anything they tell you)#get higher standards!!!! and read some books or watch lectures about actual effective communication to broad groups without using tribalism#and also. anyone on the left trying to convince you of massive efforts and conspiracies that are anti everything#is also wrong 99% of the time and not a good source to listen to#never EVER assume conspiracy when it can be more simply explained through either#ignorance obliviousness incompetence financial greed or misunderstandings#the end. I’m really done this time. I’m just sick of seeing so many people fall prey to this#shh katie#cult escapee#politics and current events#don’t get swept up in the constant tsunami of performative online activism#election 2024#world events

If we are going to hold Aziraphale accountable for the things he has said to Crowley, then we can hold Crowley accountable for calling Aziraphale "stupid" and "idiot" because even if "he didn't mean anything by them" they are still fucking hurtful too.
"You idiot...we could have been us."
You think that didn't fucking hurt Aziraphale?
Seriously?!?!
Especially since Aziraphale had already been treating them like an "us" the entire season. "Our bookshop." "Our car." The shit that people try to claim is somehow abusive.
Once again, excusing Crowley's words and holding Aziraphale entirely accountable for his is just like when I was in Catholic school and they were like Eve ate the apple first so her sin was worse and we're just gonna let Adam's sin slide even though he ate the apple too because he only did it because Eve provoked him.
It doesn't work like that.
Double standards are so tiresome.
If Aziraphale doesn't get a pass for his hurtful words, then Crowley doesn't get a pass for his either.
It's that simple.
#good omens#aziraphale#aziraphale defense squad#some of y'all really try what little patience i have left#this isn't a difficult concept to grasp#and crowley isn't perfect#he's not#he makes mistakes too#it's time to stop holding aziraphale to higher standards#i'm fucking tired y'all#congratulations on missing the point of the entire season#the whole shades of grey conversation went right over your heads#yeah i'm a bitch and i'm totally fine with that

I relate to Sanji too much because it really does seem like he’s adopted the mentality that physical and mental abuse is a form of significant affection but only directed towards himself, like he sees it’s wrong and unjust when other people are being abused, but when he’s the victim he feels this conflicted sense of I deserve it and Wow they love me so much! It’s heartbreaking just to think about tbh
#it makes sense looking at his past#and how he interacts with people he cares deeply about—besides woman who he holds#to a higher standard which I more so interpret as him looking back#on his mother and not wanting to see them abused and sick and whatnot like she was#look at how he acts around Zeff and compare it to Zoro—it’s the exact same really#not compare the above with his brothers—he’s cold towards them and obviously wants nothing to do with them completely different#to the amount of emotion displayed in his eyes AND body when conversing with the men on his crew and Baratie#hes a victim of physical and psychological abuse and severe child neglect(?)#he’s going to have a vastly different way of expressing his emotions and how he expresses them to loved ones#for woman it’s unashamed intense infatuation#that he usually expresses with a showering of flowery lovey dovey words and gifts#for men it’s closed off and angry but once you get to know him he shows his kinship through his ACTIONS#idk if any of this makes sense to anyone else lol#but Sanji is a really interesting character when looking at him through the lens of an abused child#one piece#vinsmoke sanji#black leg sanji

redacted headcanons if they were filipino 🇵🇭
please bear w me and my scattered thoughts😭 also credits to @pandoraroid for the vincent hc it's so real
- when the shaw pack gets together they do the family gathering thing of making the kids have a dance competition for money
- angel doesn't know how to commute (public transportation) and david would have to come along with them on a jeep to help them learn
"davey ikaw pumara para sakin please nahihiya ako" "kaya mo yan, dali lalagpas na tayo oh"
("davey can you make the jeep stop please i'm too shy" "you can do it, cmon we're gonna miss our stop")
- at a jollibee birthday party david would always help the shaw kids win the "bring me game" . that shit is SERIOUS for him i would bet
- milo would overdress all the time . kahit anong ganap he will be layering IN SPITE of the heat. he'd also be called "estetik" and he HATES IT .
(estetik: from aesthetic, used to make fun of people who dress up)
*(kahit anong ganap: whatever event there is)
- also, milo and sweetheart ukay-ukay dates perhaps. . . . but i think they'd both get carried away because they'd be blessed by the ukay gods and forget they were ever on a date
(ukay-ukay: secondhand shops in the ph!! mainly clothes)
vincent and lovely . aircon humor x kanal humor CMAWWNN. the vampire houses alone r so extra and fancy vincent would for sure have the conyo/filipino rich ppl accent too like.
(vin telling lovely abt his first summit): vin: "ok so inisip ko like, paano ako gaganti kay william during the summit, right? so i decided i was going to show up looking like as the, pinaka-antithesis of what he wants me to look like."
lovely, absorbing nothing of what he just said: "HUY antithesis???????"
(vin: "ok so i thought, how am i gonna get back at william during the summit, right?; ...looking like the (most)antithesis of what he wants me to look like.")
(aircon humor: humor associated with wealthy people, priv school kids, "out of touch" humor
kanal humor: "public school humor" , vulgar and relatable
conyo: someone who speaks filo+english in a pretentious way, mostly due to being raised wealthy . idk they always have that rich ppl accent)
- i can't imagine guy being filipino no matter what i do. however, i think honey is for sure filo (projecting) and they wld have a complete filo friend group . honey wld still have that gruff exterior but their walls r down, and their friends would joke that honey and guy r the "nonchalant x oa" pairing and guy wld have NO clue what they're all talkin abt.
(oa: over acting, usually used negatively to call someone dramatic, but with the "nonchalant x oa" it's kinda similar to the introvert x extrovert trope)
- when honey brings guy along to hang out w/ their filo friends, he just looks at them mesmerized 90% of the time they're all talking . afterwards, when they ask abt it, guy says that honey is way more expressive when they speak in filipino and he thinks its rlly cute (IDK. I FEEL THIS ONE IN MY BONES .)
- i also have a hc that honey likes to draw so . stem strand/course to art course pipeline baby (many filipinos can relate🔥🔥🔥)
general idea / kinda just a joke but honestly it'd be so hard to allude to being a vamp in the philippines .
"pag natamaan yung balat ko ng araw, nasusunog ako" "beh nasa pinas ka, lahat tayo nasusunog"
("when the sunlight hits my skin, i start to burn" "beh you're in the philippines, we're all burning")
#if you saw me post this before no you didnt#i may have projected with the honey hcs but we won't speak on it babes#IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN THE LOVELY ONE#its like when someone says a big word#and someone else repeats in a higher tone to make fun of it#because its a word not commonly used in conversation#alam nyo un diba😭#HUYYYYY#redacted audio#redacted asmr#redactedverse#redacted headcanons#philippines mentioned#redacted david#redacted milo#redacted vincent#redacted guy#redacted honey

it has always baffled me that ASL isn't taught as a second language in American schooling. or as a requirement for certain jobs that work with, well, people. the HLAA says that around 48 million Americans have hearing loss!! 1 in 5 teenagers!! 1 in 3 people over the age of 60!!! it's crazy to me that sign isn't more widely taught and used considering that you probably DO or WILL know someone who has hearing loss at some point in their life
#i know this is definitely not a new topic of conversation but i just think about it so often#obviously ableism and ageism is just rampant in america and thats why asl isnt more widely taught#because the thought in america is why would we help out the minority#or people think to themselves 'whats the chance ill ever need it'#and im like ???? probably higher than you think dude!!#i have friends with hearing loss and i have deteriorating hearing in my left ear as well (enough to notice in school but nothing crazy)#and thinking of that makes me think wow. i should really learn ASL#working in food service makes me think wow!!! i should really learn asl!!!#which i AM going to do mark my fucking words#anyway. i dont even know where this rant came from#motivation to learn!! and communicate with people different than me because i CAN#i guess i just wish it was more accessible to learn in schools or even mandatory!#westy's shit#rambling#i need to educate myself more on this topic and this is serving as my reminder

How do I sound and appear more intelligent and sophisticated? I've read books and stuff but how do I apply the knowledge in real life? How do I make my everyday vocabulary more sophisticated? Ik the general advice to read books and converse with people etc, but how do I actually apply it irl?
Hi love! Here are some of my suggestions/tips:
How do I sound and appear more intelligent and sophisticated?
Keep your language and explanations simple & concise
Speak slowly & deliberately: Take your time between sentences, and pause between your thoughts. Always think before you speak. Silences, while slightly awkward, are not always best avoided
Use the proper propositions when speaking: Avoid small grammar mistakes (know when to use less vs. fewer, I vs. me, graduated from an institution, etc.)
Articulate complex concepts into layman's terms: Break concepts down into different parts of the conceptual equation – chronically, from beginning to end or outcome to origin, simultaneously moving parts/micro-stories or situations; Use analogies (metaphors, mundane/real-life examples, or hypothetical situations) that require the same thought-process or methodology)
Apply conversational "show don't tell" when sharing a story: Describe the situation using the 5 senses to convey the implied meaning (e.g. "I could feel the pit in my stomach." vs. "I was nervous.")
Use subtle tonality to convey particularly emotional or significant points while speaking
I've read books and stuff but how do I apply the knowledge in real life?
Relate cultural references or learned concepts to add clever humor to everyday conversations
Create parallels and analogies to outside information to convey your understanding of what someone is saying, ask more thoughtful follow-up questions, or smoothly transition into a new conversation topic
How do I make my everyday vocabulary more sophisticated?
Use everyday/simple sentence structure and replace one simple word choice with another more sophisticated word that is equally apt to the message you're trying to convey
If you're ever confused about whether a particular synonym makes sense to use IRL, look at how it is used in the dictionary sentence examples and in other books/articles
Ik the general advice to read books and converse with people etc, but how do I actually apply it irl?
Reiterate a concise, simplified version of the other person's anecdotes to convey your understanding. Drive the conversation forward by asking specific follow-up questions based on one "part" of the idea or story
Use cultural parallels to convey your understanding of what the other person is saying (sounds like this TV show character, like a certain artist, historical/current event, etc.)
Leverage metaphors to connect the dots between the points you and your conversation partner are making. Make an insightful connection to break up the air time between their anecdote and contribution
Conversational word choice should be used to create vivid images in people's minds – to paint a picture of the concept, scene, emotions, or sensations one would engage with or experience if the person was living your conversation in the present moment
Learn how to use wit conversations – context and delivery are vital to its success and positive reception
Hope this helps xx

I got these shoes from someone recently but thought they were way too plain looking, so I set out on a quest to customize them with some sharpies and charms and miscellaneous ribbon I had in my craft drawers. Mostly sky themed (clouds, rainbows, rain, stars, etc.) because that's my favorite aesthetic, but I had to include some cat imagery as well, of course lol.
#also honestly had NO IDEA that real converse have that star logo on the INSIDE not the outer part??? why the hell would you want it on the#inner portion where nobody can see it?? my entire life I always would have sworn it was on the outer facing portion..#I think these would be perfect IF they were just slightly taller (top part higher above ankles instead of just weird hard material digging#right into your ankle whenever you walk) and if they were actual good platforms. they're so short. It's good that 'chunky' shoes are gettin#more popular as they've always been my favorite Look ever since I had these shoes with roller skates that pop out of thebottom (not heelys.#but like. before those. it was two whole entire roller skate wheels like a normal pair of roller skates) and the bottoms were so tall and#clunky and it made my feet look giant (because it had.. entire wheels in the bottom pockets lol). so#I've alwatys been into the aesthetic but . still I find a lot of the 'brands jumping on trend' are too short of platforms#OR they're plafrorms with a raised back/heel/wedge which to me is not aesthetically good and also makes them exceptionally uncomfortable to#wear compared to just plain completely flat chunky platform bottoms. ANYWAY.. if these shoes had a 3 or 4 inch platform I think they'd be#cooler. however for what they are it's still fine! and I like them more now that they actually have some sort of anything to them and#aren't just plain white. The weird thing is that the material it's made out of (maybe some sort of leather or something) absorbs sharpie?#the color changes over time. You draw a mark and then leave it for a few days and it either fades into being barely there or has changed#colors. so I had to go back in and redo parts. ALSO the shoe chains are so funny because I did NOT have the right tools for them#I don't have the stuff to make bracelets or open and close the little rings. they're held onto the shoe with just safety pins and the actua#little rung things that hold the charms on half of them are like broken or the metal is just jam smushed together bent and warped hhbjhjhb#I actually like the back a lot where there's the irridecent star thing hot glued on there. it's cool and shiny. and the clouds#are sparkly on the main parts of the shoe though I'm not sure how well it shows up in pictures#ANYWAY... shoegs..... If I were rich this is one of the things I would definitely custom order from craftsman#why would I spend like thousands of dollars on plain ass shoes that are just expensive because they're a Luxury Brand when I could literall#like pay people to create me custom shoes to my exact specifications?? I could have like 5 inch flat platform boots with fur andclouds#and cat shaped holes in the bottom with LEDs in them with pom pom and charms and etc. etc. etc. Like as gaudy and excessively over#decorated as I want lol.. AND they could have skates in the bottom somehow!! ghjgbhjb#this on top of all the custom wizard costumes and period clothing I would order.. Like i LOVE customizing things. I love everything in my l#life being as particualr as possible and cultivating every experience I have to meticulously meet my own specific criteria as much#as is possible. If I had the money to I would never buy something from a store again. EVERYTHING I owned from furniture to clothing#would be either made by me - or mostly - comissioned from craftsmen. custom tiles for my floors. custom bed. custom table.#even like. custom toilet. custom sinks. etc. etc. ouGGH... but yeah.. anyway... shoes..

What are five of your favourite Grishaverse quotes? Send this ask to 5 of your favourite grishaverse blogs!
Thank you so much for sending this, and sorry it took me such a long time to get to it 😭
Choosing was super hard because there are so many insanely good quotes in the books and I love several of them for very different reasons, but I'll try and give it a go anyways. So: five of my favorite Six of Crows quotes (because I still haven't read the SaB trilogy), in no particular order:
Kaz and Inej, on getting back up after a fall:
Get it together, Brekker, he scolded himself harshly. It didn’t help. He was going to faint again, and this would all be over. Inej had once offered to teach him how to fall. “The trick is not getting knocked down,” he’d told her with a laugh. “No, Kaz,” she’d said, “the trick is in getting back up.” More Suli platitudes, but somehow even the memory of her voice helped. He was better than this. He had to be. Not just for Jordie, but for his crew. He’d brought these people here. He’d brought Inej here. It was his job to bring them out again. The trick is in getting back up. He kept her voice in his head, repeating those words, again and again, as he stripped off his boots, his clothes, and finally his gloves. -Ch. 22, Six of Crows
Matthias asking for mercy for monsters/the "we are all someone's monster" observation:
“Nina,” he said, hand still pressed over the smooth skin on his chest where a bullet wound should be. “Nina, please.” “You know they would not offer you mercy, Matthias.” “I know. I know. But let them live in shame instead.” She hesitated. “Nina, you taught me to be something better. They could be taught, too.” Nina shifted her gaze to his. Her eyes were ferocious, the deep green of forests; the pupils, dark wells. The air around her seemed to shimmer with power, as if she was alight with some secret flame. “They fear you as I once feared you,” he said. “As you once feared me. We are all someone’s monster, Nina.” -Ch. 41, Six of Crows
Wylan and Kaz's entire conversation about disability and vulnerability while cracking Van Eck's safe:
He thumbed quickly through the ledger and said, “When people see a cripple walking down the street, leaning on his cane, what do they feel?” Wylan looked away. People always did when Kaz talked about his limp, as if he didn’t know what he was or how the world saw him. “They feel pity. Now, what do they think when they see me coming?” Wylan’s mouth quirked up at the corner. “They think they’d better cross the street.” Kaz tossed the ledger back in the safe. “You’re not weak because you can’t read. You’re weak because you’re afraid of people seeing your weakness. You’re letting shame decide who you are. Help me with the painting.” They lifted the portrait back into place over the gaping hole in the safe. Martin Van Eck glared down at them. “Think on it, Wylan,” Kaz said as he straightened the frame. “It’s shame that lines my pockets, shame that keeps the Barrel teeming with fools ready to put on a mask just so they can have what they want with no one the wiser for it. We can endure all kinds of pain. It’s shame that eats men whole.” -Ch. 18, Crooked Kingdom
Inej vs. Dunyasha on the Church of Barter rooftop, refusing to be cowed on her own turf:
“The blood you spill is the blood of kings,” seethed Dunyasha. “You are not fit for such a gift.” Inej almost felt sorry for her. Dunyasha really believed she was the Lantsov heir, and maybe she was. But wasn’t that what every girl dreamed? That she’d wake and find herself a princess? Or blessed with magical powers and a grand destiny? Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway. Inej raised a brow and slowly wiped the blood of kings on her trousers. -Ch. 35, Crooked Kingdom
And Inej at the harbor...hopeful, in love, and ready to take on the world with her boy and her ship:
Had she really thought the world didn’t change? She was a fool. The world was made of miracles, unexpected earthquakes, storms that came from nowhere and might reshape a continent. The boy beside her. The future before her. Anything was possible. -Ch. 44, Crooked Kingdom
#asks#six of crows#crooked kingdom#soc duology#inej ghafa#kaz brekker#wylan van eck#nina zenik#matthias helvar#there are soooooo many good quotes and I honestly wanted to use some of the funny and romantic ones#but these ones jumped out at me upon thinking about them#(the way I wanted to quote the entire kaz-van eck conversation from SOC Ch. 3 about exposing Van Eck's hypocrisy...rip to me)#(also there's a couple of jesper quotes I hold very close to my heart but these ranked just a tiny bit higher)

the one thing i really miss is how there was a fan run dsmp wiki where they live updated during lore everything that was happening and interwove all the povs. That shit was the only reason I could understand what had happened
#i distinctly remember despairing when i found out the ls wiki was just who was in the server and like actually nothing else#i really feel you new members joining ls s6#the threshold for understanding lifesteal is not only way higher bc s5 but s4 alone was like three times longer than all of dsmp#it is absolutely worth it though#also omg i just realized i went “binging dsmp isnt even that hard” as if it wasn't like 100 hours.#and like binging a season of tv is sooooo light work. like 9 hours? bro that's not even a long zam vod#my perception of content consumption is so skewed omg#but if you never watch everything it really isnt the end of the world you just maybe dont get the full story behind some inside jokes#but you'll be able to gather the gist just by watching the current stuff#but also the number of lore heavy vods in any season i'd say is like 50 hours max. like there's a lot of setup and small convos that matter#but in terms of conversations that moved the lore forward it's not that many

I just had a thought because it is rather widely accepted Hizashi is fluent in sign, it is something I also fully accept, but does he know only Japense sign language or has he learnt American as well.
And I say American as it does seem to the one that would have the highest chances of being useful as there is such a wide range of sign languages used all over the world so it seems the most practical, that being said I can easily see him learning others over it or in addition.
#txt — chatter#ch — yamada hizashi#genuinely curious about what people think as I do lean more he prioritised jsl and may know a bit of others#as he has less chances to utilise other sign languages in conversation to keep his skill with it up#also I do believe a majority of the pros know at least basic sign to allow for easy communication during stealth missions#those who tend to be fluent or have higher skill are the underground heroes though I can see those who work together a lot#developing their own methods of communication as a precaution so it does maintain some secrecy#just in case any villain they're up against does know sign for some reason#I also love the visual aizawa and zashi have their own and shit talk heroes they don't like right in their faces#they both can maintain the verbal conversation and perfect poker faces while doing it as well

me talking to my flatmate yesterday: "hey i saw you've been using my frying pan quite often, you can use it but could you please wash it right after that? because lately every time i want to use it it's lying dirty with dried food that i can't clean right away :(" to which she was like yeah sure sorry
and right now i come back from uni and want to make myself dinner and you can probably guess the state of my frying pan
#i brought from home a pan a pot and two bowls#she keeps using ALL of them and leaving them like that#but with pan it's especially annoying because there's only one small one#i kept pouring water into it and putting it in a sink so the dried food would come off and later i could clean and use it#but i have yet to be able to do that#because i put it in the sink filled with water in the morning but in the evening when im back it's back lying dirty on the oven :((#and im the kind of person who's scared to ask people to do something when it's bothering me like in this case#so it was already a lot that i actually talked to her about it yesterday#but it was all for nothing and now i don't know what to do 🫠#not to mention her cat walks all over my stuff when im not home and also the litter box smells so bad because she doesn't clean it T^T#initially i was only a bit jealous when she moved in (because she's my roommate's best friend aka friend higher in hierarchy than me)#but now im starting to genuinely dislike her because of those living conditions she brought#im a calm in nature and over-polite person and it's killing me inside#ij wish i could just go and make myself clear that i do NOT want that and it's not up for discussion#with my roommate i also had some BAD situations but this is so much worse#because she's not my friend so she doesn't care and doesn't want to talk with me about it#after i talked with roommie and we both said what bothers us in each other and we established rules and boundaries it got SO much better#but this one feels like a hopeless case it's like im trying to have a conversation with someone standing the other way
