Panic did not come naturally to Sleipnir these days. So when he did scream, it came out more monsterous and animal like then he had anticipated. Sounding much more like a wounded animal, then a fearsome man.

His fingers gave out on the small windows ledge, free falling for all half of a second. But the dread that had knotted his stomach stopped when something strong and heavy grabbed at his forearm. Sleipnir reached for it, digging his fingers in and looking up, wide eyed and adrenaline fuelled to see a man, leaning out of the window, saving him from the fall. How ironic he was probably the same man he had been trying to avoid. Risking his own life to avoid a run in with another survivor.

Sleipnir did not look down, did not need to confirm the two story drop with the hoard of the dead below. "Up -" Sleipnir barely barked, digging his foot into the stone of the wall, pulling himself up and climbing - clawing - high enough so he could latch both elbows into the window frame, crawling in and collapsing on the floor.

Sleipnir didn't recognise his own wheezing panting, staring wide eyed at the ceiling. He should be dead. And it was hard to come to terms with.
