Why premier the first four episodes and then release the rest in batches? We all know this show isn’t going to make it past three seasons (Would legitimately be surprised if it did after being in production for three years.) so why not just release the entire season in one batch?
Amazon is really banking on Viv’s fanbase to sub to their streaming service, because I seriously doubt anybody who isn’t familiar with Viv’s work has any interest in watching this.
It’ll be interesting to see how well this show does on a major streaming service, as I still stand by my argument that a lot of people only watched the first episode of Helluva Boss because it was on YouTube and it was free.

Hi! I'm new to your post so please feel free to one me out😅🙏 imma give some context before going the real thing [it's been a while since I watched Helluva boss so I only stopped somewhere at western energy, I was able to watched the helluva shorts, short 4 is my favorite, I was able to watched some important parts of the series such as the full moon episode. End] ever since the released of sinmas and mastermind, my hate for Stolas continues to rise. I never knew nor understood the appeal of the Stolitz relationship during the pandemic to 2023. Until I started to see more of the Stolitz fanarts, it created the idea of a forbidden relationship aka the commoner x the emperor, it's a good and engaging trope to read when written well in a love story and in a psychological way. So imagine my surprise when seeing leaks of Blitzø kissing and hugging Stolas, however seeing the outcome of Stolas choosing Blitzø over his daughter wasn't enough for me to satiate my hate for him. After for a few days I started to analyze how maybe I'm hating too much on Stolas when Blitzø also has a big fault too, so when searching in google; searching for others opinion on what Stolas SHOULD have been, I stumbled upon you! You were able to state the important facts on both parties being in the wrong, despite how I have a few arguments you still able to reach out the IMPORTANT facts. So I'm glad you initiated in making a post on how the Stolitz relationship is so toxic and in the same time they are still bad but victim beings. I was also planning to write my own original helluva boss so this gave me an extra boost on what kind of characters Stolas and Blitzø should have been, ever since I watched videos on YouTubers hating Stolas I was able to create an illusion that Blitzø was a saint however I was still able to grasp that MAYBE he was NOT a saint.
[here are a few things I want to state and I WANTED to hear your take, I think Stolas should have a knack in conversation when talking to Blitz in the Ozzie episode {however it can be easily eliminated since he's having a person conversation with Blitz without any indication of fornication}, and if Stolas was banging Blitz for how many months I think he should have asked how's his relationship with Loona since that's something they're in common. I also like to state how a lot of people hate on Stella too much, I did NOT like how they made Stella the evil mom. It was scene and implied how she and Stolas were happy during their marriage, so it would understandable for Stella to be mad at Stolas not to mention he was sleeping with an Imp. A lot of people really said how Stolas was in the right for cheating on Stella and it made me question about my idea of relationship and marriage. I do accept that Stella should have face consequences for abusing her husband, but Stolas should at least face some consequences which was shown in Sinmas. He CHEATED on his WIFE, the word wife/marriage means you're ONE with your partner and that you're in a BINDING VOW. He also should have think about his actions and how it will affect his family{Octavia mostly}. Stella is wasted character to be made since it could explore her experience in marriage, motherhood and her mixed feelings for Stolas and Blitzø. (I know how it's set in hell but why is it they have hospitals, rehab and such. Despite how an amount of demons cheat I'm sure there's room for demons who don't accept cheating.) I'm sure you have some thoughts and amazing facts to point out my opinion, so feel free correct me!]
All in all I enjoyed your post and I hope you continue more to create amazing content! Your post of the analysis on Stolitz relationship gave me motivation to create my own fanfic, and is it alright for you if I take inspiration to your take of the Stolitz relationship cause I have some big plans for those two characters, I'll always make sure to credit you and mention your analysis is my inspiration. That's all I have to say, have an amazing and healthy day, Merry Christmas!!!❤️🔥🎄
Hey, so I’m happy to have helped you and you can totally take inspiration from me for your rewrite.
Anyways, you’re right. Having Stolas try and make moves on Blitzø without it being sexual would have helped show that he was interested in more than hooking up. The things I didn't mention in my review are that we spent the entirety of season 1 barely seeing him, and when we finally do, he’s making bad attempts at dirty talks. We don’t see the progression of him being only interested in sex to "I’m in love" so his attitude in episode 7 is just random, they were no buildup.
As for the Stella situation, I’m equally disappointed that up to now she’s reduced to Le Evil Wife, but I look forward to season 3 since we’re going to have more info on the Goetia, so possibly her backstory. As for the cheating, I think they should have empathized with the fact that it’s not the cheating that bothers her, it’s the fact that it’s an imp. This was done at first in episode 2 but they should have kept it going.
Since Stolas and Stella have an arranged marriage, they could have established that they’re in a free relationship. They slept together only for Octavia, but aren’t sexually interested in each other, so they keep appearances in public but sleep with whoever they want indoors. Then there are two ways to go with it:
Stolas follows the terms of agreement
He keeps his relationship with Blitzø indoors and does everything to stay low-key. In that case, Stella is unreasonable because she’s only angry that he’s sleeping with an imp and that’s just fucked up. On the other, Stolas and Blitzø’s relationship could never evolve because Blitzø will probably doubt the prince’s sincerity considering he’s doing everything to keep him in his closet. Imagine the drama.
2. Stolas is exactly like in the shows
By that, I mean flirting publicly, going on dates and stuff. While it’s certainly going to make Blitzø trust Stolas, Stella is a little bit justified. I mean, you shouldn't kill your husband for cheating, but Stolas would have been allowed to "cheat" whiting certain conditions. Not only is he ruining her reputation but he cheated with an imp, which means that now her friends think that she’s such a bad wife that Stolas searches for relief whiting the lower class.
This could also impact Stolas’ reputation whiting the Goetia Circle, and perhaps even Blitzø whiting the imps. All of them could think like Striker, "You think you’re better than us because you date a Goetia."
Merry Christmas to you too by the way.

I honestly believe that Vivziepop might be classist due to how much she prefers hiring A list actors than hiring people who are new to the voice acting industry. A lot (if not all) of the voice actors in the pilot of Hazbin Hotel are indie voice actors. And it really rubbed me the wrong way is that she didn't keep the cast from the pilot when transitioning Hazbin over to a bigger streaming platform prior to the release of the first season. And what really upsets me is that she didn't invite the cast from the pilot to the premiere. It would of been nice if the OG cast got some recognition from her as they're the reason why Hazbin Hotel got as popular as it is today. They deserve as much credit as Viv does for the success of the show.
But my question is, does she have some sort of relationship with the pilot cast? Does she talk to them every now and then, or does she completely ignore them in favor of those big name actors. It seems like she has a preference for hiring actors who have been in the industry for years than those who are currently starting out and are making voice acting their main source of income. Which is pretty much a shitty move on her part as she's depriving indie voice actors of having an income in order to survive. And since both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are really popular these days, it would help indie voice actors get hired onto other projects.
Another problem I have with her is that instead of airing the first season of Hazbin on YouTube, she instead puts it on a streaming platform where, in order to watch it, you have to pay a certain amount of money. I know watching the first season on pirating sites is an option for those who can't afford an Amazon Prime membership and for those who don't want to give Viv a cent of their money. However, almost everyone has access to YouTube as it's a mostly free streaming platform. So why not put the entire show on YouTube so that way others can watch it without having to pay money to watch it. After all, YouTube is the reason why both Hazbin and Helluva Boss are popular due to how easily accessible the site is, on top of it being the home of pilot for Hazbin.
I wish Vivziepop would recognize indie voice actors more and give them a chance by hiring them. She doesn't need to hire A-list actors to get people to watch her stuff. People are more likely to watch her work because of the story and the plot than watching it because she hired popular actors.

She amaze on my digital till I circus.
So, yeah, to keep me satiated until the FNAF Movie, I decided to draw Pomni and Jax from TADC because honestly, these colorful characters make me smile.
If you don't know, The Amazing Digital Circus is a pilot from creator Gooseworx, who you may know from things like their short film Lil Runmo or from THE_BLUE_CHANNEL and just a week ago she released this pilot for a new show she is working on with Glitch Productions.
But you probably already know that. TADC is like, one of the most popular internet pilots to date, even getting more views and attention than even Hazbin Hotel. (And unfortunately getting nearly the same amount if unnessesary hate on Twitter but that's a whole different rant)
My opinion: I love this pilot. It's so wacky and fun, and extremely dark. And Gooseworx's extremely zany yet dark comedy meshes well with Glitch's more experimental 3d animation. Plus the story is extremely intriguing, I wanna see more.
While I might end up becoming more of a casual fan than anything (Hazbin and Helluva brainrot still infests me I'm afraid :( ) I will definately watch more of this show when it gets made! Who knows, maybe by then I'll become a super fan.
So yeah, if you haven't watched TADC, go watch it now, it's on Youtube for free and only half an hour long. Trust me you won't regret it.
So yeah, hope you enjoy Jax and Pomni in my style.

Hazbin Hotel 1st Season Review
Ok so I've been sitting on this ask I got back when the series started airing for some time now.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b07ad01a36faffc4e3cbad3224752cd2/bc79d1485728d17c-30/s540x810/aa2b3c2aa61d069ecf2f786a48593d0bddb62889.jpg)
And I was struggling with how to answer it because as much as I personally love the show and had a lot of fun with it I understand that it isn't really for everyone.
But now that the series' first season has concluded I feel like it'd just be easier to give a review of all the negatives and positives that I saw in the series for anyone who is wondering if its worth getting into. I'd like to give a fair and honest overview of all the show's quirks as there is a lot of misinformation, bad faith criticism, and blind praise of this show going around. It can be overwhelming with so many strong opinions and I'd like to give people a more balanced and down to earth look at the show for what it is.
I'll start with spoiler free stuff and put all spoilery stuff below a cut in a reblog. Be warned, this is still gonna be very much based on my own opinions and very long, I just hope its less...intense than most reviews.
Overview
For anyone who doesn't know, Hazbin Hotel is a new animated series on Amazon Prime Video created by Vivienne Medrano and A24 Studios. It's basic premise is that every year, sinners in Hell are killed by angels from Heaven in order to keep the population low. This devastates our main character, Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer and Princess of Hell.
So she decides to start a rehabilitation center called the Hazbin Hotel in hopes to allow sinners to redeem themselves, keeping the population in Hell low whilst allowing people to continue existing, and hopefully putting an end to the exterminations for good and saving her people. She does this with the help of her girlfriend Vaggie, a famous pornstar named Angel Dust who agrees to be her first guest, a very shady demon named Alastor, and more.
The show's pilot episode was first released on youtube in 2019 and has a sister-show called Helluva Boss that takes place in the same universe and began airing episodes on youtube while Hazbin was being shopped around to be picked up by a bigger studio.
I personally do not recommend this show at all to anyone under 18 due to its subject matter and depictions. However, the show is listed as 16+ for all but one episode which is 18+. Make of this what you will.
Now, onto the discussion.
Positive 1: Design
So a lot of people look at this show and are put off by its character designs and general look. But frankly I think it's very well designed and cohesive for what it is. Its designs are complex and gaudy but they're earnest in their presentation. It very much draws from Vivziepop's roots as a youtube animator who got big in the 2010's
All the designs are very out there and edgy and almost sparkle-dog-esque. And I think it's commitment to that style in favor of something that would draw in wider appeal makes the series feel more artistically genuine. Just look at Angel Dust and Alastor's designs for example. They ooze 2010's deviantart and I find it very charming.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/000ea6bebc35fd234c16935999b619ae/bc79d1485728d17c-88/s640x960/8f4ace35edc75b94e08be64b0f55e9862208b031.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1a55997c8269667a35c7a34552a9c83/bc79d1485728d17c-81/s500x750/365f0230770c96ba365adaa2ae78ee20398cbc7c.jpg)
I also enjoy the balance and uniqueness of many of the designs, they're so fun to look at. And their level of detail makes them super fun to pick apart. The range of body types could definitely be improved (an unfortunate remnant of that 2010s style I was just praising) but there is still plenty of diversity in silhouette to differentiate the characters at a distance.
I also often see the criticism that there is far too much red used in the designs and frankly this criticism is so unfair. Within the context of the show its pretty obvious that red is just part of the design motif of hell.
I can see the issue ringing true in the pilot that the characters bleed into the backgrounds often because of this design choice but in the official show the background style is a lot more distinct from the characters and they don't really have this issue at all.
Here's a screengrab from the pilot that I find to be a particularly bad offender vs a screengrab from the official show including acvery red character on a very red background that I think highlights the difference a bit.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/996ffb7719686f90c8e9e35f72424f31/bc79d1485728d17c-40/s540x810/2737e1defa4bfbdcad267501d792228a6bfda4e5.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9baf337dee0b0f2362f187bbd01cb8e7/bc79d1485728d17c-f5/s540x810/820d8172da45ad8e772005a1f4f221af2b587f66.jpg)
There's nothing wrong with a show having a very cohesive visual motif to tie all of its characters to one location. The heavenly characters in the show have their own color motif of bright pastels for instance. I think the designs are a highlight of this show and people should stop being so harsh and unfair in their assessment of them. They're so fun! Enjoy them!
Negative 1: Pacing
You've probably heard people mentioning this one and unfortunately I 100% agree with this criticism. The show is INCREDIBLY fast paced and it seriously impacts character development.
Now, I don't think the way people criticize this aspect of the show is very fair. Most people push the blame for it onto the creators and writers when in all actuality they're just doing the best they can with what they were given. 8 episodes is a very short runtime for a show of a this scale.
A story with this much worldbuilding, this many plot threads, and this number of important characters could NEVER be told properly in this amount of time. Even if they'd properly paced it it would've ended up awkwardly truncated with an unsatisfying finale. Frankly I think the writers did a very good job stretching what they had, but unfortunately the issues are still very present and impact the viewing experience.
This show desperately needed filler. They NEEDED low stakes plots and episodes. As is the story is very complete and I'm glad the short runtime didn't create any agregious plot holes but its still...lacking. The first season is meant to take place over six months of time and it really doesn't feel like it.
The lack of episodes means we don't get to see the natural progression of these characters and their relationships. Many characters have seemingly out of nowhere changes of heart. Even the best done plot lines still feel pretty cramped and rushed.
It's very sad and unfortunately is becoming increasingly commonplace for shows to have such short runtimes that they feel like extra long movies rather than feeling like a tv show. Hazbin Hotel feels like a very long musical pace-wise. And if you decide to watch it that way I think you might have a better time honestly. But its still sad to think of what could've been.
Positive 2: Music
Oh my fucking god the songs are so good. None of them are bad in my opinion. I have my favorites and least favorites of course but none of them sound bad or annoying which I can't say for 90% of musicals especially cartoon musicals.
Almost every song feels like its 100% necessary to express what the characters are thinking and feeling. Every single VA has a fantastic singing voice. Apparently one of the main writers of these songs is half of The Living Tombstone which is pretty apparent from the style of the songs. If you like their music you'll be in for such a treat here.
There are 2 songs per episode and I think its safe to say you'll enjoy the crap out of at least one of them. They make up for a lot of the short runtime with them too, being able to fit a whole lot of character growth and interaction into a shorter period. This show is definitely carried by its stellar soundtrack. I think it's its best trait for sure.
If you like musicals, you have something to gain from watching this show, I can guarantee that.
In the spoiler section I'm gonna rank all 16 songs and explain my reasons btw so look forward to that.
Negative 2: Editing
The editing of this show can be...questionable at times. Sometimes there will be very harsh unnecessary cuts and sometimes the camera moves all over the place when it really doesn't need to. It really feels like the editors got the raw animation files and were trying to clock in overtime by making unnecessary and bizarre editing choices all over the place.
It wasn't very jarring to me personally and I feel like most people will get used to it within a single episode but if you're unsure of how to feel about it I'd go watch the song Happy Day in Hell on youtube because it's probably the worst offender in the show and about as bad as the editing will get.
Positive 3: Characters
As sad as I am that the show has so little time to explore the characters they are VERY well established regardless. These characters have a lot of charisma and almost all of them have a completed arc within this season.
I've heard a lot of people claim that Charlie, the main character, doesn't get enough screentime or doesn't feel like a protagonist and I'm sorry but I can't see this as anything but bad faith criticism. Hazbin Hotel is an ensemble show with a very limited episode count, not every episode can have Charlie at the center. But she IS the center of the main plot and she is a very active protagonist with strong relationships to the other members of the ensemble. Her goals are tightly wound in with the central plot and themes and she makes the decisions that drive the story.
She very much fills her protagonist role well and I think this attempt at criticism is just a biproduct of the several years of development where occasionally we'd get bonus content for other characters and Charlie didn't get much. But it's pretty clear that that was cause her character IS the plot and Vivziepop didn't want to spoil the entire show before it even aired.
Beyond that I've seen people claim that all the queer characters are over-sexualized. Which is hilarious because as far as I can find there is only one canon straight character in the main cast and the rest are all queer. There is only one character that has an storyline focused around sex and that's Angel Dust...because he is a sex worker. The other characters occasionally make sex jokes but no other queer characters have sex as a focal point.
Overall, the characters definitely balance each other out in this story and they're a big draw for me. Even minor characters that only appear prominently in one episode are super charismatic and interesting. Hell, my favorite character in this show is one of these minor characters.
One thing I very much enjoy is how none of the characters ever seem to be dumbed down for the sake of the plot. The stakes remain high because all of these problems genuinely feel like there is no easy solution that the characters are just conveniently ignoring. All of the characters' choices feel like theyre in-character which is very impressive given the episode count.
Neutral 1: Dialogue/Jokes
So this is a topic I've seen a lot of people discuss specifically here on tumblr. The characters are very sweary and many of the jokes are very crass and explicit.
Personally I had no issue with this at all the jokes were fine to me and the swearing just felt like Hell's natural dialect to be honest. Plus I swear like a sailor irl so it was barely different to my normal. Very much a non-issue for me.
I could see how it could be off-putting to others though if it's something you're not used to. And I do find it to be a bit much in the sister-show Helluva Boss because it feels a lot less natural. (side-note, if y'all want me to make one of these for Helluva Boss let me know cause I have a LOT to say about that show). So honestly I think this is a matter of personal taste and I'd encourage people to still give the show a whirl if this is your main issue with it as its pretty minor.
Positive 4: World-building
I really enjoy the complex world in this show. A lot of its takes on the lore it's drawing from are actually pretty unique and nuanced, it's obvious the creator did a lot of research. Any lore that is changed was clearly done with the knowledge of its true origins. It really feels like Viv knew the rules well before she broke them with this.
This is one of those worlds where you can't help but imagine yourself in it, especially with it being the afterlife. It's no wonder the fandom is so dense with oc content, its very fun to imagine creative character designs when there's so few limits to what a character can look like.
And the world-building seriously elevates the story so well. This is one of the few times the short episode count actually helps the story I think, because there's still so much to explore and discover here. I like the delayed gratification of getting all the info about how hell and heaven function its nice to chew on theorize about. It's just a very appealing and interesting setting what can I say.
Neutral 2: Handling of Subject Matter
This has got to be one of the most divisive things about this show and I think this is the thing that most comes down to personal opinion.
There are a lot of criticisms against how this show handles incredibly serious subject matter. And frankly, as much as I don't have any issue with its portrayal of these things personally, its incredibly understandable why others take issue with it. I encourage everyone to give the show a fair shot and judge it in its entirety as a lot of these things really need context to be criticized fairly.
However I understand that, even if you agree with the way Hazbin hotel handles these subjects, you may still be incredibly uncomfortable or even triggered by the graphic depictions. So I'm going to take some time and list out every possible trigger that you will encounter in each episode to the best of my ability based on my recollection. Because even though Amazon does give warnings they are too vague for my tastes and I wanna make sure anyone who watches this show on my recommendation is going to be safe (Let me know if I missed anything and I will edit this to include it):

I believe that should be everything.
I highly encourage you to be cautious if you have PTSD or C-PTSD regarding sexual or physical abuse in particular for episode 4. The episode is quite graphic and realistic in its depiction. As someone who hasn't been through sexual abuse I cannot speak to the accuracy of its portrayal apart from the fact that it is very clearly not created to be tantalizing or glorifying.
I've been told many different opinions on how this episode portrays sexual abuse and whether it is accurate or respectful and it seems like the answer varies greatly person to person from being extremely comforting and relatable to being offensive and feeling gratuitous. In my opinion I think this means the show did a decent job and had good intentions, but it also means that this show and this episode in particular just aren't for everyone. Make of this what you will and stay safe.
Positive 5: Themes
The themes in this show are baked into its core. It manages to get its message across without feeling too clunky and the focus of the story never strays from that purpose.
Redemption is often a mixed bag in shows especially in cartoons. But I think Vivziepop and the rest of her crew do a good job showing the effort it takes to change and grow as a person in the short time they have.
I think the dedication to themes is a huge part of how genuine the story feels. It's earnest in its message and that gives the plot a soul.
If you want to watch a story about broken people lifting each other up this is the one.
Neutral 3: Vivziepop
So a lot of you have perhaps heard some not-so-great stuff about this show's creator.
From what I've gathered in my research almost all of the serious claims made about her are either proven to be false or big ol nothing-burgers. However, there might be legitimacy to some of her employees and coworkers' complaints about her company, Spindlehorse, which aren't great. And I personally dislike how she conducts herself on social media as the spokesperson for her creation.
In short, she doesn't seem to have much tact.
I think its a little ridiculous and overdramatic to avoid the show over it personally but if this just strikes a particular nerve with you there is always the option to pirate ig. It's fully up to you. Just make sure you do your research and don't go around shaming fans of the show or spreading misinformation about a very real person.
Conclusion
I'd personally give the show an 8/10. Its a fun time and clearly made with a lot of passion. I'd recommend it to everyone who's interested. Now I'lll start working on the spoiler bit of the review.
Let me know what y'all think! If anyone reading this has questions I'm happy to answer as well.

Hey. I've seen some of your HB rewrites and their pretty cool. I even like some of the ideas you came up with (ex. Stolas & Stella being political enemies rather than a married couple, imps being intersex & following a binary gender system, etc).
I was wondering if you could give me some writing advice with rewrite stuff. See, I have this portfolio-like series called 'Let's Reimagine', where I revision (i.e. rewrite and/or redesign) a piece of media (be it a show, movie, webcomic, video game, etc), whether it be something I like, or something that while I'm not a fan of, believe that it could've been great (or at least decent) had it been handled better, while also integrating my OCs (including self-inserts) into my revisions as if they were canon characters in said media. This is one of my passion projects that I'd love to bring to life someday, as I wish to make YouTube videos about them when I create my YT channel (which doesn't exist at this point in time) in the future, so for now, I'm starting small by making posts talking about my revisions on Tumblr & Reddit as like a practice run of sorts (like for ex. creating a manga and then having that manga get an anime adaptation, or creating a comic (like a webcomic) and having that be adapted into an animation of some sort (ex. series, short(s), etc), or creating a book or novel and having said book or novel being adapted into a movie and/or series).
I'm also an aspiring writer who wishes to share their stories with everyone for them to enjoy, including 'Let's Reimagine' (where Helluva Boss is one of the shows I plan on reimagining, due to the many issues it's got, especially with the increase of them in Season 2; as much as I like & enjoy HB, I do have to agree that it's kind of a mess, and I get where fans are coming from with its criticisms, especially towards Season 2). However, there are some issues of mine that I feel could detriment my writing abilities & projects (including 'Let's Reimagine') in general (ex. not thinking about potential plot holes, inconsistencies, worldbuilding/lore issues, & questionable/weak/bad writing choices/ideas, rushing into things before thinking & planning stuff out, worrying about my stories not being good enough for anyone to enjoy, feeling inferior compared to other artists & writers, people hating what I make, and thinking the worst possible outcomes; apologizes if that got a little too personal and if I (potentially) made you worried; I suffer from anxiety and have a tendency to get anxious and worked up too quickly, especially when thinking negatively, and trying to be a perfectionist, worrying that if I or my content aren't perfect, then I come across as a failure; but I assure you that I am trying to work on these issues and getting past them for the better).
So, with all that said, do you have any advice in creating & doing rewrites/revisions (ex. planning stuff out, character arcs/development, worldbuilding/lore, plot points, fixing & covering plot holes & inconsistences, fulfilling wasted/missed potential & missed opportunities, avoiding questionable/weak/bad writing choices/ideas, integrating ocs/self-inserts into said rewrite/revision, etc) to any writers out there (including aspiring ones)?
Feel free to respond back to me whenever you get the chance. Thank you and have a wonderful day/afternoon/night. 🤗💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖💕🤗
This is very late, I'm so sorry it took me this long to answer your ask.
Things has changed sufficiently from when this ask was submitted. My HB rewrite is on currently on pause so I can focus on my Hazbin one instead.
I do like the concept of your Let's Reimagine series. It sounds like a fun passionate project in which you experiment with your writing and show tough love for the shows you're rewriting for. I hope soon you'll be able to release your first rewrite for the series.
I have some general writing advice and one specific advice for rewrites I personally use.
Create the world building first
If your rewrite takes place in a fantasy world, I suggest fleshing the world building first before the characters. This is a different world from our, so their rules and lore will affect these characters differently, and you should know why first to explain the certain elements of the both the characters and world. Fleshing the world building first can help create plot ideas and external conflict easier.
Have a Beta Reader
This one is standard. I suggest having a beta reader to review your rewrites and concepts. As writers, we think our stories make sense because we know the context, but to readers who don't know anything, our scripts realistically be confusing at first. Along the same vain, they can help you realize that an idea is underdeveloped or useless. Another good reason is they can offer new and improved concepts and ideas you didn’t or wouldn't think of before.
Be open to criticism
Criticism will help you grow as a writer. You don't have to like them all or listen to every piece, but still keep an open mind because they can and will help you. I heavily suggest being open to criticism specially when you’re writing a topic you have no experience in (Ex: mental illness, addiction, a specific identity). Again, not only will it help you improve, but also portray those topics better.
Rewrite
My only rewrite specific advice is to expand and flesh out ideas and characters, you felt the original show skimmed over. In both of my rewrites, I'm putting a greater focus on the world building, dark character concepts and how they intertwined with each other because the shows barely touches on them. It's your rewrite so do whatever you want with it, don’t feel limitless.
I hope this helps!

Hazbin Hotel: Even Bigger Than You Think
I remember watching the Hazbin Hotel pilot just a few hours after it was posted. Blew my mind a bit, to see that high quality of an animation released for free on YouTube. You've heard it all before-the characters design both physical and personality-wise, the world and themes it's set in, everything about Hazbin Hotel was awesome. We bought the merch (I personally bought myself and my fiancee Alastor [Alastair? Alaster?] shirts) and anxiously awaited the official first episode.
We all know how it went-3 years of merch drops. Personally I started to lose hope-did I really misread Vivienne Medrano, thinking she was a true artist dedicated to telling the story itching at her skull, when in reality she was another money-grabbing one hit wonder? Helluva Boss is incredible, and it satiated the craving for more Hazbin, but eventually in my mind the shows reversed-from Helluva Boss being a tiny spin-off of Hazbin, to the other way around. Hazbin is an insignificant part of the greater Helluva Boss world.
When I saw that Amazon Prime had picked up Hazbin Hotel, it was like the last piece of a puzzle found under a couch cushion finally finishing the landscape that's been collecting dust on the table for three months. It finally made sense, and I think a large part of that has to do with the recent actors' and writers' strikes. The obvious aside, we are finally going to see the continuation of a project years in the making, with a dedicated team to produce it and an ecstatic audience to consume it. However, Hazbin Hotel is a lot more than a YouTube pilot launching a full show.
There is a strong disconnect in many minds between Youtube and streaming services. There is an expectation of quality, being that a show on Netflix is expected to be a much higher quality production than a show on YouTube, and an expectation of viewership, as streaming services are much more adept at advertising their shows than YouTubers. Hazbin Hotel shattered both of these expectations, with the pilot's viewership surpassing many multi-million dollar shows.
The team has set a precedent for the future-streaming services are a lot less likely to write off a small team's animated pilot when they consider Hazbin Hotel's success. They dug their heels into the ground for three (probably more) long years against judgement and hatred and disappointment and anger, holding firm against expectations, and their heels have carved a channel through the dirt straight to success. The next small team of animators with a story bursting from their hearts screaming to be told have a path to follow thanks to those persistent heels.
I, for one, can't wait to see that thin line in the dirt become a travelled highway.
Thanks for listening,
goblinpocket

I can't decide if this song fits Akeshu, or Maruki. I think it could work for either. Because the lyrics specifically give me Third Semester vibes.
Yes, I'm a Helluva Boss and Hazbin Fan. I didn't just blindly come across this music video and decide the lyrics could possibly fit Akeshu. I was a fan first, saw the latest Helluva video upload, watched it, I adore the music video and I'm ACHING for an iTunes release of this song.
(Vivzie, please release the official Helluva Boss soundtrack, I'm dying 😩)
If you are purely Persona fans that came across this and have no or little knowledge of Helluva Boss and Hazbin, it's an ADULT animated series. Helluva is free on YouTube, and Hazbin recently became an official show you can watch season 1 on Amazon Prime.
If you are intrigued in getting into the Hellaverse, be warned the series contains unapologetic profanity and sexual inuendos, jokes, and mature subject matters (especially Hazbin)
So don't get into the shows if you aren't over 18 and definitely don't show it to children.

So, if you told me a month ago that I’d be making a post about The Amazing Digital Circus, I would probably call you a liar.
I DID hear of it. You cannot go anywhere on the Internet right now without someone saying “Have you seen The Amazing Digital Circus?” And/or “Wow, Disney has gotten so bland they’re losing to indie animation”
My hesitation to watch it, plus RWBY not working for me, (and still doesn’t tbh), makes people think I hate/don’t support indie products. That’s not the case. I’m an aspiring indie writer. I’m SO HAPPY that indie animation is getting so much attention, so much that I’m interested in watching Helluva Boss (haven’t had the time to do so yet). I’m SO HAPPY that there’s people who are not major corporations and executive demands control their creativity and passions, and are getting success by making what they want. It’s VERY inspiring and the rise in recognition has helped me in motivation on working on my original books that I’ve lacked the past few months.
I just didn’t want to watch Digital Circus at first, because fanbase.
Yeah that CAN drive people away from products more than you think.
This may be the next Undertale in more regards than one.
I usually wait till the hype dies down before I see something with great reviews. I did that with the first Spiderverse movie, and I didnt see it until over a month after the release. Then I became a fan, saw the appeal, and couldn’t wait to see the second movie in theaters.
And… well. The hype has NOT died. Not even a little. On YouTube, it was recommendation after recommendation to watch the pilot. My sibling watched it and told me to watch it. (I never listen to them cause it just made me think “Oh so it’s a Five Nights At Freddy’s knock off. If my sibling likes it.”)
What made me decide to see it was the news that it was MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN DISNEY’S WISH.
Like… WHAT?! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?!
This is an INDIE product, and it’s way more successful in views and critical reception than one of THE most major animation companies of all time?!
I threw my hands in the air and decided, “Alright FINE. You win. I need to see what the appeal is.”
So I watched the pilot just a few days ago…
Okay, NOW I understand the appeal wholeheartedly.
This pilot alone pressed all of my buttons. Beautiful smooth clean animation, stellar voice acting, unique amazing character designs, the dark humor not unlike Total Drama (though not as crass as that show), the very memorable bits and lines that live in my head rent free now, the world building and the intriguing mysteries behind what’s happening. The existential horror of it all (that I personally think is more compelling than regular jumpscare heavy horror). I became loaded with questions that I really wanted to figure out the answers to. I care about the mysteries of the digital circus world, what happened to these people, how was it made, and what were these peoples lives before entering. I care about Pomni’s struggles to get out of her situation only to be grappled with a very real depiction of an existential crisis. I want to know more about these other characters and what their stories are. This is honestly the most addicted I’ve been to a show since Ninjago.
Do I a think it’s perfect? No. I have some nitpicks. But that’s where my criticism ends. Nitpicks.
Seriously, I hope and pray the remainder of this show lives up to the hype. And I’m perfectly content with waiting several months each, if it means the show stays this good. Quality over quantity. Any day.
So… yeah. I kind of joined the hype train.
It’s a real shame that I almost didn’t want to, because fanbase, because this honestly deserves the recognition it’s getting. Seriously, to my followers, if you somehow have not seen the pilot, check it out. You’ll thank me later.

Just a Thought
So, currently there’s something of a discourse going on among the fans of Hazbin Hotel in regards to what particular streaming service or platform on which the finished show is going to be aired. Although the release is slated for some time this summer, no one knows for certain where it will be available and thus it’s caused quite a stir.
However... has anyone considered the far-flung possibility that perhaps we’re all being trolled here and it will just get released on Youtube for free like Helluva Boss?
Just thought I'd bring that up.
Just in case.

My Adult Animation Recommendation List
Below is a list of adult animation I would recommend to anyone who wants to watch animation with deeper meaning than crude jokes and sexual humor.
Serving as a spinoff from Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss is about I.M.P, (Immediate Murder Professionals), who are a trio of imps who go to the Living World to assassinate humans for bitter Sinners in Hell. Rowdy Blitz leads the team of married couple Moxxie, a weapons expert and sharpshooter, and Millie, a rough and tumble imp with a penchant for slaughter. Sometimes they are assisted by Blitz's adopted daughter, Loona, a hellhound serving as a receptionist who is addicted to her phone and antisocial.
While there are sex jokes and crude human, there are hidden depths as the show is about relationships between family, co-workers, and both romantically and non-romance. It also carries themes of domestic abuse, classism, and trauma.
Currently the first season is complete and the second season is nearly half complete and available to watch for free on Youtube. It's an indie projected funded by Patreon, monetized videos, and fans buying merch and with each episode drawing in millions of views within the first hour of release, this is an instant hit.
The first of its kind, Spawn was released late night on the HBO channel. It featured anti-hero Al Simmons who makes a deal with a demon to return to Earth to see his beloved wife, Wanda once again. However, he is returned years later with a severely burned body and Wanda has since moved on, marrying his best friend Terry and has a daughter. Unable to cope with the loss, Spawn haunts the alleyways of New York, becoming an impromptu protector of the homeless, defending them from anyone who intrudes on their home, whether its mobsters, crooked cops, or other supernaturals.
Spawn is meant for mature audiences with depictions of sexual content, nudity, and severe violence. It's a plot that takes itself seriously and there are no gags or jokes. It ran the length of three seasons and can be watched on Max.
Based on the comic created by Robert Kirkman, creator of the Walking Dead comic, we meet Mark Grayson, the teenage son of Omniman, a Superman like hero with super strength and flight. When Mark comes of age, he finally comes into his powers and is ready to take on the moniker Invincible to follow in his father's foot steps. However, there is a conspiracy afoot in the superhero community which will end in conflict and heartbreak.
What starts off a typical animated superhero tv show, inverts itself by the end of the first episode. Be warned, there is plenty of blood and violence as this tv series doesn't pull any punches when it comes to realistic violence between super powered individuals.
The first season can be found on Amazon Prime with a second season coming out next year.
Brilliant series from Netflix. What's great about is that while it is based off a video game series, you don't have to be a player or familiar with the game at all. I have never played nor plan to play League of Legends, but that didn't stop me from being engrossed int his amazing series.
Two sisters, Vi and Powder are orphaned during a failed uprising of oppressed Zaun against the wealthy city of Piltover. Through a series of tragedies the girls find themselves as adults on opposite sides of the conflict as the war between Zaun and Piltover brews up again.
Beautiful animation, layered thoughtful story with wonderfully written characters which tackles themes of war, oppression, mental illness, technology, terminal illness, childhood trauma, fatherly love, and so much more.
First season can be found on Netflix with the second season hopefully coming next year.
Originally on TBS and created by Olan Rogers, Final Space was about Gary Goodspeed, a prisoner whose 5 year sentence is near an end. He's been living in isolation maintaining a satellite and about to lose his mind until a little green creature he names Mooncake arrives. The two become fast friends, but unfortunately, there is an all powerful warlord is after Mooncake because he's the key to opening a dimension into Final Space.
While it initially comes across as your run of the mill adult comedy, I honestly thought it was a rip off of Futurama before I watched it, it has way more depth. While Gary comes across as a talkative goof, he's passionate and loyal to his friends, deeply in love with his love interest, and is willing to put himself through pain and danger to protect them. It's a found family story with the characters going through epic lengths to save the universe.
There are emotional gut punches delivered by awesome voice acting and talented animators. But, I got sad news. It lasted for three seasons without a proper ending. Now some good news, Olan Rogers got permission to finally end Final Space in a graphic novel coming out hopefully next year.
Reimagined from the classic video game franchised, Dracula avenges the unjust death of his wife by declaring an unholy war on humanity and only three people can stand against him. Trevor Belmont, the last surviving member of a family of monster hunters, Sypha Belnades, a magi from a group of shunned nomadic scholars, and Alucard, the half-vampire son of Dracula himself.
The character development is well written over the course of four seasons. Handling tough topics such as grief, revenge, self-destruction, and corruption of the church while presenting intense fight scenes with some of the best animation I have ever seen.
All four seasons are on Netflix with a follow up series called Castlevania: Nocturne coming up soon.

400 plus animators for a YouTube series is insane.
It’d be one thing if Helluva Boss was backed by a major company or network, but it’s an indie show that airs for free on YouTube with an infrequent release schedule.
Add in the fact that a lot of these animators and storyboard artists are fans who are willing to work for cheap, and yeah…..
Can’t wait for the day when a crew member finally writes a tell all book that details all the behind the scenes nonsense that went on during production, because this is just unreal.
Ok so i saw a post mentioning how Spindlehorse was hiring animators again, and i thought "huh yknow im really curious what the turnover rate of animators is in this studio" because i mean its a genuine question considering how i swear theyre hiring new animators every other week
So then i checked IMDB...
Before i go on i wanna put some context because its kinda needed for what im about to say:
On IMDB there's a section of the cast and crew page labeled "Series Animation Department". This is the section meant primarily for animators and storyboarders among other jobs in the same vein.
Now. Can you guess how many animators/storyboarders Helluva Boss has gone through in less than 2 seasons?
444.
That is four hundred and forty-four individual credits, a majority of whom didn't stay for any longer than a few episodes. I have never in my life seen an animator turnover rate this skewed.
But i saw this and i went "well it cant be that bad right, what about other shows?" because admittedly i didnt know a lot about animation so for all i knew this was normal. So i went to the IMDB pages of other animated shows
RWBY: 164 credited animators over 9 seasons
Murder Drones: 11 Animators over 7 episodes
The Owl House: 88 Animators over 3 seasons
Amphibia: 73 over 3 seasons
Steven Universe: 44 over 5 seasons
And just to be fair let's include Hazbin Hotel, which had 62 in 1 season
This means that for one reason or another Helluva Boss has gone through more animators in less than 2 seasons than shows that ran for SIGNIFICANTLY longer go through in their entire lifespan by several times and that astounds me

Woo-hoo! Tomorrow is Indie Animation Day
Nowadays, you can find me watching a lot of shows on YouTube because it's free and more unique than the stuff Hollywood pumps out these days. I know people are gonna be looking for Digital Circus or Helluva Boss here but I also want to give attention to other underrated indie series as well.
What I love about indie animation is there is a lot of creativity and love put in it. There is bound to be for everyone across different age groups, niches, and backgrounds. It reminds you of the good ol' early days of Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon when there used to be countless shows of different art styles and genres (or at least 'til the 2000's).
I remember the first time indie animation was seriously taking over was when the pilot of Hazbin Hotel dropped in 2019 and became viral on YouTube following its release. Of course, I was still a huge Netflix fan mainly because the platform used to release whole great shows, and didn't think that there'd be a demand for indie animation a few years later.
Side note: If Dungeon Meshi was also an indie production, me and everybody else would be a lot more invested in it. I'd watch every episode in a heartbeat. Imagine if it was made in CGI just like how GLITCH was able to do it, too. Let's not forget those fan animations and music covers dedicated to the show. No copyright bullcrap.
If indie animation taught us anything, it is the power of fandoms and allowing for more creative freedom. Learn to support the team behind them so they may continue to make quality shows in the future.
