The last month in the Jewish / Hebrew calendar is /e-'lool/. It visits us in Aug-Sep, right before the holidays of /teesh-'rey/ marking the new Hebrew year.

Wheel of Fortune
Another Tarot card, I had to research this one, especially what the letters/symbols on the wheel stood for. The WOF template came from: https://www.deviantart.com/wheelgenius and https://buyavowel.boards.net/ check them out, if you’re a fan of the show.

Vav - an upright man
"Jacob left Beersheba and went to Haran. He came to a certain place and camped for the night since the sun had set. He took one of the stones there, set it under his head and lay down to sleep. And he dreamed: A stairway was set on the ground and it reached all the way to the sky; angels of God were going up and going down on it. Then GOD was right before him, saying, “I am GOD, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. I’m giving the ground on which you are sleeping to you and to your descendants. Your descendants will be as the dust of the Earth; they’ll stretch from west to east and from north to south. All the families of the Earth will bless themselves in you and your descendants. Yes. I’ll stay with you, I’ll protect you wherever you go, and I’ll bring you back to this very ground. I’ll stick with you until I’ve done everything I promised you.” Jacob woke up from his sleep. He said, “GOD is in this place—truly. And I didn’t even know it!” He was terrified. He whispered in awe, “Incredible. Wonderful. Holy. This is God’s House. This is the Gate of Heaven.” Jacob was up first thing in the morning. He took the stone he had used for his pillow and stood it up as a memorial pillar and poured oil over it. He christened the place Bethel (God’s House). (Genesis 28:10-18)
The heavenly ladder seen by Jacob in a dream, on which angels were ascending and descending, with the Lord himself at the summit, was itself but the weak intimation of a closer union between earth and heaven to be effected in the person of the Son of Man—an union wherein God should no longer appear far off, but near; men now at last beholding the “heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”—(Trench.)
Our Saviour applies these words to Himself, the true ladder of life, through whom alone we are able to ascend to heaven (John 1:51). He that will go up any other way must, as the emperor once said, erect a ladder and go up alone. He touched heaven, in respect to His Deity; earth in respect of His humanity; and joined earth to heaven, by reconciling man to God. Gregory speaks elegantly of Christ, that he joined heaven and earth together, as with a bridge; being the only true Pontifex, or bridge-maker. Heaven is now open and obvious to them that acknowledge Him their sole Mediator, and lay hold, by the hand of faith, on His merits, as the rounds of this heavenly ladder. These only ascend; that is, their consciences are drawn out of the depths of despair, and put into heaven, as it were, by pardon and peace with God, rest sweetly in His bosom, calling Him Abba, Father, and have the holy angels ascending to report their necessities, and descending, as messengers of mercies. We must also ascend, saith St. Bernard, by those two feet, as it were—meditation and prayer: yea, there must be continual ascensions in our hearts; and as Jacob saw the angels ascending and descending, and none standing still, so must we be active and abundant in God’s work (1 Corinthians 15:58).—(Trapp.)As connecting earth and heaven it was a striking image of mediation and reconciliation by Him who is the Way. This is the New Testament explanation of it (John 1:51). The idea plainly is of communication opened with heaven, which had been cut off by sin. And the immediate application of it is the providential care which is secured to him by the covenant. Angelic messengers traversing this stairway executing the gracious purposes of Redemption (Hebrews 1:14), and all on the basis of the mediation of Christ, the Angel of the Covenant—this is the traveller’s vision.—(Jacobus.)

I have been thinking about this video nonstop since I first saw it on Instagram. I hope everybody has a very happy tuchus!
[Video ID: A Jewish woman (Rabbi Yael Buechler, @midrashmanicures on Instagram) speaks to the camera: We have reached a new low in holiday product fails. This treat box is for Sukkot. It's featured on Amazon and Sukkot is a holiday that doesn't get a lot of love so kudos for having a product for Sukkot. It says Happy Sukkot and in the Hebrew it says--wait for it--tuchus! Happy tuchus! Tuchus is Sukkot spelled backwards. The product clearly wasn't vetted in the Hebrew. This other treat box just says Tuchus. I'm thinking we should create some sort of governing body that "certifies" Jewish holiday products as being "kosher" because this is a new low. Anyway I want to wish you all a very happy Tuchus." The first box she shows is pale green decorated with images of apples, pomegranates, and branches and the words "happy sukkot" and תוכוס. The second treat box is pale orange with a similar motif and the word תוכוס. End ID]

I’m watching Superman: The Animated Series and I love that some of the Kryptonian alphabet is just Hebrew! Not all of it - I suspect some of it is pulled from other alphabets and some of it is just shapes - but I mean. compare it to Hebrew print and cursive script and it starts looking like a pretty cool nod to Superman’s Jewish origins

[ID: a screenshot reading:
"... precise features or to have specific relationships with other models. Would you like to live in a universe where CH holds, but (diamond symbol) fails? Or where (2 to the aleph sub n = aleph sub n plus 2) for every natural number n? Would you like to have rigid Suslin trees? Would you like every Aronszajn tree to be special? Do you want a weakly compact cardinal kappa for which (diamond sub kappa) REG fails? Set theorists build models to order."

Received this wonderful picture showing a great job practicing the first letter of the #hebrew alphabet “Alef”
It’s a great idea to color in the letters which helps to reinforce learning by using your hands in this creative manner. Well done!

ezekiel's tomb in al kifl, iraq is believed by jews and muslims to house the body of the biblical prophet ezekiel, with shi'ites specifically believing the site has its roots on a shrine built by the prophet abraham. the tomb itself was built in the 7th century. today, it's a part of the al-nukhailah mosque complex, built by ilkhanate ruler abu sa'id bahadur khan in the 14th century.
until the mid-20th century, thousands of iraqi jews used to make pilgrimage to the tomb on passover. the rule of saddam hussein saw many of the jewish inscriptions covered in white paint or removed, but they've since been restored.

Hei - The seed of Thought and action
The wife of a drunkard once found her husband in a filthy condition, with torn clothes, matted hair, bruised face, asleep in the kitchen, having come home from a drunken revel. She sent for a photographer, and had a portrait of him taken in all his wretched appearance, and placed it on the mantel beside another portrait taken at the time of his marriage, which showed him handsome and well-dressed, as he had been in other days. When he became sober he saw the two pictures, and awakened to a consciousness of his condition, from which he arose to a better life.
The office of the law is not to save men, but to show them their true state as compared with the Divine standard. It is like a glass, in which one seeth “what manner of man he is.”
One of the weaknesses of the Christian communities is that so many of the members think they are called to teach. It is the constantly recurring weakness of the so-called Free Churches, which encourage their members to use their various gifts in the service of the Church. People who think they can teach and cannot, are amongst the most difficult and troublesome people to deal with. St. James’s politely but searchingly says, “You would make better hearers than teachers; and you would find plenty of sphere for your energy if you set yourselves to do the things about which you hear.” “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.” There is a hearing only, which leads to nothing. Talking only about what is heard, is more than useless, almost mischievous, because it is self-satisfying. There is a doing of what we hear which is in every way valuable, for it implies thought, care, the right sense of responsibility, and duty. Doing prefers silence.
Some hearers simply reproduce what they hear, with variations, and imagine they have reached the true result when they have given everybody whom they can influence their idea of the sermon. And their talk is of no value to themselves, or to any one who listens to them. In every sphere of life it is found that the talkers are the helpless people, if they are not the mischievous people. While they stop and talk, the real work of life waits undone. True preaching tends to stop talk, by compelling people to think, and to inquire what they can do.
-- an extract from The Preachers Commentary on James 1:23-25
