BG3 NPC Social Media Headcanons

This is the final part, but I might do a part 4 if I get requests for other NPCs!

Barcus - King of tutorial vids. He has tutorials for everything. He's so smart but so humble and makes things so easy to understand. Almost no selfies, but he has a few with Tav if they're dating.

Rolan - even more pretentious than Gale. They're social media rivals. Constantly making response vids to each other "well actually-ing." Lots of selfies. He's pretty and he knows it. Sibling shenanigans. Lifestyle king. Selfies with Tav if they're dating that are surprisingly sweet and tender. His siblings tease him endlessly. Lots of vomit and eggplant emojis from them. For how smart he is, he can't figure out how to delete them or block them.

Kar'niss - Horror king. Super weird content. Heavy metal and punk music. Fashion advice for drider. Anti-drow propaganda and drider advocacy. Unintelligible comments. If he's dating Tav, there's a LOT of solo Tav pics, mostly candid. He also has the advantage of 8 extra legs so he gets a lot of awesome angles for selfies. Captions are disturbingly devoted, really verging on creepy. Also a million fibre-craft videos and pictures. He goes through a sweater phase three times a year. It's strangely wholesome compared to everything else.

Raphael - OnlyFans. That's it.

Orin - body horror. Constantly being suspended for TOS violations and harassing people with weirdly sexual threats.

Gortash - Worse than Gale, Astarion, and Rolan COMBINED. MLM (multi-level marketing, you animals) mastermind.

Ketheric - exclusively passive-aggressive "parent of a no-contact child" memes.

Aylin and Isobel - That weird couple that shares social media accounts. Just the most disgustingly adorable coupley posts. Everyone hates them but is also super jealous. Power-couple goals.

Mol - She's too young to even have a social media account but somehow has one and it's a thriving online business????????????????? How?????? Go play outside.

The Emperor - Only MLM content. Occassional weird thirst traps. Mindflayer advocacy but make it toxic af.

Nere - he has one follower and its his mom.

Withers - the weirdest shit you've ever seen. All caps grandpa poster. He's the WORST at selfies. None of his pictures are in focus or centered. Constantly trashing on the Dead Three and responds to criticism with "get thee good" or some archaic bullshit.

Volo - tabloid central. Nothing he says can be trusted, yet he has a million followers who all believe his word to be gospel.

Elminster - total foodie blogger, especially cheese. He has an entire video series dedicated to cheese. Wrecks Gale at every opportunity. Shockingly good at photo-editing, will occasionally leave comments on other people's pictures of the SAME picture, but touched up better. It would be more insulting if he weren't actually really good.

the moment you feel something coming on, he’s insistent that you rest

he’ll continuously be warming soup for you

oh how he worries

but he puts on a smile and takes care of you to the best of his ability

he asks Mai to take on some of his duties/tasks so he can be with you at all times, and she’s happy to do so

but not before a slight argument about it

the cuddling will be nonstop

and you bet his and your Pokémon will be joining in

he keeps you SO warm

the forehead kisses are constant

he’ll even read/share bedtime stories with you if you’re willing to listen

anything you need, he’s on it

and once you feel better, he’s resuming his leadership duties

but he’s not taking his focus away from you

he’s got you by his side

Volo

Volo is very much a wanderer

but when you’re sick, he’s staying put

he hates to see you in such a dreadful state

and he can’t bear to leave you until you’re feeling better

while you nap, he’s out collecting herbs and medicinal leeks 

he’ll make your favorite soup

and he’ll hand feed it to you

he’s a deranged; touch starved lunatic, so you bet he’s holding you at all times

his Arcanine will be your pillow (and your heat source)

and Togekiss is your entertainment

while he’s searching for herbs and leeks, he’ll also be hunting for little trinkets for you

because his poor, sick s/o has to have something special

this man has an ABUNDANCE of stories to share with you

and he’ll share ALL OF THEM, even if you don’t ask

once you’re feeling better, he’ll pack up and head out

you WILL be getting a kiss on the cheek (or lips) before he departs

“I’ll be back soon, y/n. If you start feeling ill again, I’ve left the recipe for the soup I made on the table.”

Melli

you’re sick, and Melli does NOT like that

he distances himself from you

and not just because of how gross you sound

but he’s TERRIFIED of getting sick himself

he’ll speak to you through letters delivered by Pokémon

and they’re very sweet letters

but once Adaman finds out that he’s ‘too good’ to take care of you…

you can hear that scolding from across the Diamond Clan settlement 

Melli will slowly approach you

and he’s absolutely disgusted

you can 10000000% tell that smile is forced

but once he settles in

he’s trying his best to help you

he’s hesitant to cuddle with you

but he assumes there’s no other choice

and once he feels how hot you are, he holds you a little tighter

since he’s here, he may as well be close to you

he apologizes for being rude, something he would NEVER do for anyone else

and he’ll send Pokémon to Adaman to request recipes for soups

you’ll probably end up making them yourself, though, because Melli can’t cook at all

he’ll learn eventually

once you start feeling better, Melli does indeed get sick

because he’s always running from illness, his immune system is a bit weaker

but you’re there for him regardless

In the real (modern) world, Volo would be completely fluent in Latin and every Halloween without fail he uses that to freak out the neighbors by saying creepy stuff in Latin. He makes it a point to say creepy stuff to really sell it

Volo headcanon time cause it's about damn time I do em-(please note these may be very much oc/canon and also just general characterization based on information given, if you don't agree that's cool)

I like to think he's super playful in how he talks if he's "close" to someone, a smile with all his teeth a wag of his finger, and he could either be humming playful nicknames(he does say "my favorite customer" a lot after all)or he can be a sarcastic ass, a smart remark done up with sweet words, a prod that send a glare his way(that he marvels at, it's his favorite)

He'll lap up compliments like a thirsty arcanine, if you compliment his knowledge of myths and legends he'll happily tell you all the work he's done and of his devotion. You literally won't get him to shut up once you start him.

He however cannot handle compliments about how he looks or anything like that. He knows he's attractive at a social standpoint, I mean he definitely does have women staring at him and men eyeing him so being so pretty yet so tall and also built. But hearing it makes his brain kinda stop-

I think he can he calm and collected. But it's usually to hold that friendly merchant look.

Building off that one, he can be kind, I think, in a transactional way. He knows kindness will get him things so he believes that's how everyone does things.

He's a touch starved praise needing idiot cause if God can't give him meaning shit as fuck if someone else can he will be a fool with an obsession matched to his devotion as Arceus.

He'd be terrified to get attached to someone though, not because it'd interfere with his plans(I think he'd actually believe maybe he could keep the person he built attachment to)he's terrified that he smiles, that he laughs, that he eagerly awaits to meet, that he feels his teeth clench when someone gets too close for(his)comfort, that he longs for a hand against his arm with a smile at him, that there's no pull away from his own touch.

He's tired as fuck. Desire and devotion are an exhausting feat, and often times he struggles to sleep, struggles to eat if he didn't work for the ginko guild and NEEDED to eat to(barely)do his job he probably would forget(togepi/togekiss is also good reminder)

He does love his pokemon. But he's so...weird about it, he keeps the ideal that a "good tool is one that is cared for" because if his pokemon are not cared for deeply then all their lives will be at risk in such a deadly landscape. But ah if he didn't comfortably lean into Arcanine when it's cold and she rests her great head on his knee. Or when Togekiss flutters about stealing his cap making him shake out a scoff with a smile. Or when Lucario helps him carry supplies when there's too many. Or when Roserade uses aromatherapy to help him sleep. Or when Garchomp helps protect him from raging pokemon in the wilds. Or Spiritomb helping keep away pesky ghost mon late at night.

Headcanon time:

The gems Volo and such wear were given to members of the celestica clan. They signify not only their allegiance, but also their rank in the society. The whiter and purer the gem, the higher ranking the person.

The second part has been lost to time, other than in Cogita's memory. When asked, she just told Volo that his particularly cloudy one suited him.
