Lalita understood where he was coming from. While she didn’t follow a lot of the customs of her own family she knew how important they were and she did respect what anyone wanted to follow or believe or eat, based on things like that. Growing up, Cal's aunt had always kept their household strictly kosher. Actually, for the most part she didn't even eat any meat, keeping what they did eat halal just because it was easier and she always said healthier. When he was on his own, Cal had mostly stuck to the same diet he'd grown up with—because again, living in New York was easy to maintain that lifestyle—but they hadn't been as strict. "I truly can't imagine going to someone's house you know keeps kosher with pork. Like a quick Google search could tell you that's a no. It's like showing up to a vegan's house with steak," he shook his head. "Oh, yeah. I get that. Do people even eat cranberry sauce or do they just bring it and pretend that they do?"
