➸ Especially in the early days of your relationship, CHROME was just a little bit awkward around you — almost hyperaware of every inch of distance between you, and somehow never knowing where to put his hands. KAMUI

➸ It's not much of a surprise to hear that KAMUI is incredibly casual with his affection. Most days he'll try to casually, not-so-sneakily wrap his arm around your shoulders, or lift you off your feet as he hugs you. Much like a sunflower turning to face the sun, he claims his day immediately brightens whenever he gets to rest his head on your shoulder.

➸ He just loves being able to hold you in some way, with the kind of eagerness of someone trying something new for the first time, every single time — he'll grab your wrist as you walk together, eager to tell you about his latest mission in the Strike Hawk lounge, or he'll see you reaching for something on a high shelf and accidentally cover your hand with his own as he passes it over to you.

➸ Kamui likes gently squeezing your hand every so often when he holds it, paired with one of those almost-signature big smiles of his. He doesn't seem like the type to do hand kisses all too much — he much prefers kissing your face; isn't that much more straightforward? — but if he ever gets the chance to, he enjoys peppering your palms in kisses, all over any calluses, or scars, or other marks that litter your skin.

WATANABE

➸ WATANABE is uncomfortably unfamiliar with the kind of affection that you show him — not in the way that disgusts or unnerves him, of course, but in the way that he wonders why you chose him, of all people. Wouldn't you rather have someone who could better reciprocate your advances, instead of someone who only knew how to hold a blade? He's more than grateful for you, though, even if his hands might feel like sandpaper against yours, callused from years of combat.

➸ Rather than being shy about it, he likes to think he's reserved instead. His physical affection is subtle but tender, if a little rough around the edges. He's fond of brushing the back of his hand against yours, and he likes feeling the steady thumping of your pulse as he holds onto your wrist. He has a habit of kissing your wrists when he holds onto them, too, right at the junction where your palm meets your forearm.

➸ The way he holds onto you is gentle but firm, as if he's scared of hurting you — but in moments where it's just the two of you, Watanabe has a tendency to hold your hands... Not casually, per se, but more freely than he allows himself when you two are in the presence of others. He might put his hands over yours to show you the proper way to hold one of his knives or to stop you from working too late, or put his hand on the small of your back to steady you before you fall over. Each time he passes it off with one of these formulaic excuses, but each time he feels the warmth of your hands, your arm against him, he swears his heat circulation system malfunctions for just a second.

i was in the middle of writing another post when i remembered this scene and aaauuuugghhh

when we first meet the hand of guidance, devo’s hesitance going in but not trusting her enough to leave his new friends alone with her, her overly cheery and polite demeanor, his OBVIOUS discomfort the whole time, god *head in hands dot jpeg*

what fascinates me a lot about this moment is how on the surface, this meeting goes “well”

like there isn’t any clear explosion or drama or anything that we may have expected going in given what little we’ve heard about the parish from devo before hand

guidance here is so nice, and accepting, and overall comes off as a warm and loving woman, but like that’s the point of the act

this interaction happened publicly, in the middle of the parish in front of quite a few ppl id assume, so guidance played nice and like she was happy to see devo and was forgiving him and like the whole thing was “water under the bridge”

imagine how this may have gone if it was private, like just guidance and devo

would she still have been so cheery? would she still have been so polite to devo if amber and zoox and the others weren’t there watching?

she might try to act like it’s not a big deal and she can be the bigger person but we know from devo’s reaction here and what we learn later that it was something much nastier that guidance wouldn’t easily let others know

predictably, given that i have just recently had a big medical thing with ongoing implications and am in the waiting zone for tests and am spending the whole upcoming week doing monitoring at home, and have overdone it this week, and have also come off of one of my medications that makes one of my chronic conditions stable in the past week also, but, having some emotions today!!!!! challenging!!!! body changes related to illness and being unfamiliar with yourself! hmmmmmm!!!!!!!

i'm in a stupid shoe dilemma (ankles/feet swollen??? just bigger than they used to be?) (might change with new medication?) (not sure if/when/what medication changes i'll have in the coming months and if they'll impact this at all?) (depends on outcomes and diagnoses from tests that i'm not sure when are even happening?) (christmas gift was going to be new walking boots which i am soooo grateful for bc mine don't fit anymore and i truly cherish a shoe to its death, but 1/2 size up and full size up of my current boots i've had since 2014 both too tight with arch support insoles in them?) (frustrations and unfamiliarities with my body and wanting to care for myself but not knowing HOW) (don't like that dot jpeg?) (now i feel like i'm getting a bad grade in christmas due to wanting to wishlist something really appreciative but also i'm somewhat out of my mind atm (full depth of this not especially detectable unless you See It due to various things) so making decisions challenging and also it is not within my current capabilities to go to a shop and try on boots and see which may actually fit me. also my boot situation might change as previously mentioned with medication!!!! but idk!)

anyway reality of the situation is that i can just explain this and ask if we can go to a shop together next year sometime when my hospital stuff is done and my condition is better managed and i have a better benchmark of what my body is going to be like. maybe it'll be like this, maybe it won't. which is the sensible option for a generous gift of nice walking boots to ensure that i will be able to wear them to death also. but also this does not align with the season and i want everybody to feel so happy which includes giving as well as receiving nice gifts as embodiments of love and care for each other. guy who gets a bit insane about birthdays and christmas voice. also aware that a lot of the situation is happening in my head and not in conversation with actual people involved yet. however. the circumstances. everyone will understand and be niceys, i just have anxiety and am somewhat in the horrors but also outwardly mostly functioning. once again issue which is happening in my brain and not the outwardly existing world. saturday 👍

it would appear that i am not doing the best job of managing my conditions atm. on one hand i am doing the best i can, on the other hand i am not as i have made my priorities more 'spend nice time making gifts so i can make the postage cutoffs' which does not need to be but i have made it somewhat at odds with the managing conditions things.

boruto onions?

oh hey that was fast.

I caught up not too long ago and I genuinely want to dicsuss boruto but I don't really have anyone besides my best friend to Bort talk with so thank u for letting me bort talk. I think it's an okay comic! it's not the best but it's not the worst? I think it's WAAYYY too rushed, and I'm not a huge fan of the otsutsuki in the og naruto series to begin with so that colors my opinion of the villains in Boruto. Also i HAATE the girl outfits but that's a story for another day. I think my biggest hot take is that Naruto should've died. Like there's this point in the anime/manga that if he had died then, it would've been SO impactful and it would've raised the stakes so much that the book would've gone from mid to great. I'm so serious we were so close to a great manga scene. I do know Kishimoto wanted to kill him off, and I just KNOW that's the scene he was gonna do it in. So sad there was a push back.

Baryon mode was said by Kurama to be a last ditch move resulting in the death of the jinchuuriki. Ofc in the manga it's a cop out and kurama dies (which isn't even that big bc we know biju reincarnate p quickly). But imagine if it WASN'T a fake out.

Is this resolve not quintessential shippuden naruto?

An important part of this scene is Sasuke's clear concern over seeing naruto using an extremely powerful jutsu he had never seen before. It's like he knows without knowing.

The lethality of Baryon mode makes sense too. He's essentially a star that is rapidly burning out. Sasuke can sense that. Even the VILLAIN senses that.

Of course the fight goes on as normal. It seems like all is lost but Kawaki comes in at the last moment in the most "I love my dad" scene in the whole manga. Seriously, this is the strongest point in the entire series for me, and it wouldve added a HUGE layer of tragedy if naruto actually died.

The thing is, I think he was genuinely SUPPOSED to. It would've been in the most heartwrenching way too. Hear me out.

Kawaki saves the day. The battle is done

Oooorrrr so they thought. Kawaki and Sasuke proceed to have their hands full with a fully possessed Momoshiki!Boruto, meanwhile they can't focus on Naruto who's. Fading.

by the time they're able to notice (trying to not be killed/getting boruto unpossessed for now) it's almost too late?

All they can do is say their goodbyes right then and there, with Naruto's head on Sasuke's lap. He and Kurama can't complain too much, he died protecting Sasuke and his kids.

this would give SO much weight to the latter chapters. Kawaki going kind of unhinged would make sense. He's lost his father and he has to protect what little he has left and boruto is a threat. Boruto can have added depth over never really getting a chance to fully reconcile with his father.

Himawari having kurama reawaken inside her would be so much more special too!! With Naruto gone, he wakes up in a new home: his daughter. Come on, that's great! Most importantly? HINATA WOULD GET SOMETHING TO DO! I swear she is only in this manga to make people dinner. Let her punch somebody. But yeah this is long tldr naruto should've died dot jpeg

like so many things I try to write, this started as a silly romp of an idea—a multipov 5 + 1 fic where several of the batkids dye jason's lazarus skunk fringe various colours—that rapidly pivoted into knife territory a la the batkids navigating Emotions.

predictably and perfectly purple, it all begins with Steph.

The video jerks as if from an involuntary twitch. “Allow me, Master Jason,” Alfred intercedes smoothly, stepping into frame and holding up an antique hand mirror worth more than Steph’s entire apartment building. Absolute silence, and then—  “Where is she.” An actual roar: Timberlina wasn’t exaggerating!  “Well I think purple really suits you, Little Wing,” Dick says off camera just as the video cuts. Steph giggles, wriggling in her bed with victorious satisfaction, and shoots Tim a quick series of emojis—the laughing while crying one, the kissy face, and the purple heart—before flopping onto her stomach to scroll through instagram. She’s got at least another 10 minutes of fucking around before she has to do the 5 minute race to get ready and 9 minute run to make it to class 3 minutes after it starts. Her plan changes drastically at the sound of the fire-escape window opening and a heavy boot doing nothing to hide its owner’s entry.  “How could you leave without seeing your handiwork, Blondie?” Steph does what any good vigilante would do and gets the fuck outta there.  ~ When Steph joins the Bats for dinner at the Manor later that week, she catches Jason styling his vivid purple fringe in a window. His expression looks softer, relaxed, like when he does his rounds at the orphanages in the Bowery. Warmth fills her chest and she heads to the dining room before he can spot her and switch to his usual smirk or snark.
