So I'm assuming a lot of us have seen the "Creators for Palestine" thing plastered on our YouTube homepage. I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if A. it wasn't giving to PCRF, which isn't a reputable charity and donations to it go into Hamas's pockets B. the literal first person on the list wasn't antisemitic tankie piece of shit Hasan Piker. Well they caught him. If he wasn't the exact kind of person tumblr loves, the conspiracy theories about this being a random person being framed would have continued to spread. But he's an attractive 26 year old white man who was caught carrying a manifesto about corporate America and has an internet history that matches up with tumblr's general politics. So everyone is going to get excited about how he's a martyr and go back to acknowledging reality in that there isn't a conspiracy to frame the wrong guy.

The discussions over whether or not this man should be lionized as a hero are honestly not as relevant as the comfort with which people are going to drop the conspiracy theory they would have been fully committed to if this man's politics turned out to be nuts. The ease with which the userbase of this website switches between realities based on whether or not they confirm their biases is really alarming. I just hope people understand how weird it is to claim a random person is 100% going to be framed by the FBI on one day, and then drop that by the next day when it becomes clear that the person being "framed" is the exact kind of communist you had hoped.

As the US election closes in and the final states take to the polls, I want to remind people to turn out and protest.

Yep, protest. Strike, disrupt, be out there on the street regardless of who you voted for or who wins. I expect to see you all out there demanding; access to abortion nation wide, protections against discrimination, free universal healthcare, a free Palestine, anti war, prison abolition, to increase the minimum wage, and for a US free of the electoral college and that counts votes as votes.

Yes, you can say "you should vote for Harris" and do so as much as you like, but do not forget the power you have through your own everyday actions away from the polls and that of protesting. Do not use the excuse that your right to vote means it's somehow more foundational or important than the right to protest. You have the ability to create direct action and that is so so important, please don't just expect a rich representative to stick to their promises every time you vote; you have power too, never forget that.

This system will not change until we, the people, make it. There is NO representative that can ever change the system that allowed them in, and likewise; this system will never allow a candidate that would stop it from continuing and/or ensuring its designated purpose of oppression and subjugation. Resist, regardless of the results.

arthur turning to punk in the 70s…what values would he ascribe to it? ik no one agrees with how nations relate to their governments (whether they’re complicit, or if they’re even consulted, comes to mind especially), but how would this arthur feel about the queen? would he subscribe to the same punk that the Sex Pistols subscribed to? all shock and no actual value? smiling and having tea w his queen in the day and going out at night in homemade crust pants (which. ok. i think he could genuinely pull off the homemade look. he’d for sure MAKE his clothes and patches and stuff)?

i love the look of punk!arthur & punk (generally) is v superficial in its politics (all rage and shock but no actual solid politics outside of explicitly political bands) (anyone that says you can’t be conservative and punk knows nothing about the history of punk as a subculture) so he’d fit right in, i think. having political patches that he knows the meaning of and vaguely hypothetically agrees with…saying punch nazi’s and meaning it but the important part to him isn’t in being a safe person for Jewish people to talk to, but in violently picking fights in public.

The far right scored 40% in France for the European elections. We're the second country with the most seats. And many other countries have the far right leading too. This is a catastrophe.

Because of tonight's results, President Macron decided to dissolve French Parliament. We're called to vote again in 21 days. The left is scattered and all parties have suffered an incredible defeat today. The only result of these new elections will be to give majority to the far right in the French Parliament too. We'll have a neo-capitalist president governing with a far right prime minister.

I don't know why he chose to dissolve. Like the entirety of the left, I hate Macron. He's been conducting the cruelest class warfare and the bourgeoisie received several victories thanks to him. But I still prefer his majority to a far right majority. He called himself the shield against the far right. It was already hypocrisy and I've been saying for a long time his policies were just giving power to the fascists. Now he's literally doing it.

while there is a lot of nice things to be said about the american tiktok users moving to xiaohongshu it's also really concerning seeing the amount of people going "oh my god before going on xiaohongshu i didn't think of Chinese people as people but now i realize they're humans just like us !!!!! the government has been lying to us" especially coming from a lot of people who see themselves as very progressive leftists. it really makes me see how a lot of americans can't conceptualize the fact that people outside of their country (and certain parts of europe) are actual Human Beings.

I call it incident like it's a silly nuisance but honestly one of many that make me not underestimate the male violence that comes form boys. we were 15 in this, he might have been 14 always a bit younger than me. but what this teenage boy did after I stopped entertaining his ego by getting into "debates" in class with him was finding me asleep in a corner of the school (I used to catch an super early train and always be tired) and take a picture with his dick on my face. then circulate the picture amongst all the students. I knew it was him and immediately went take my satisfaction the second I threw his skinny ass on the ground he admitted to it and gave me the name of three other boys who were with him. I managed to get people talking about how pathetic of a reaction that was to being ignored after there was proof of it being him and thet convinced the school community it wasn't consensual or deserved. like me being unconscious or the fact everyone knew I had a girlfriend of years at the time wasn't enough already. but that story always made me uncomfortable for two reasons. one was that a girl who was not as used to violence and fighting her battles could've not handled it as well as I did 15 is not an easy age. but the second is the certainty he had that it would look worse for me than for himself. and that the school staff wouldn't touch him. the first ended failing for him but only because I fought back. he was shamed less for how much of a rapist in the making elements that action had and more for getting beaten by a girl. telling in itself. been a decade now and working in school and watching similar harassmet of girls by their male peers makes me never forget.
