TIRED of the ted wheeler deeply homophobic agenda. this man simply does not care! yes, it is the 80s so he’s probably casually ignorant, maybe makes a few offhanded comments but he is not the enemy of queer people. he is just casually homophobic, like a lot of people during that time but he genuinely cannot be bothered to like - actively root against queer people. he’s not lonnie.
he just wants to be left alone and for some reason there’s always drama in his house. his daughter is breaking up and getting together with her boyfriend, getting into fights, his son has some sort of a dark secret that ted could not be bothered to care about, his wife is cheating on him with boys that are their daughter’s age. and ted just wants to be left alone.
all he wants is to read his newspaper in peace at the dinner table, but never gets to because there is always something.

I generally don’t recommend games/anime/tv shows frequently to anyone, especially when I don’t know them very well honestly. Because I’ve had such an awful time doing so in the past.
People don’t pay attention to my suggestions both for and against the thing, what feels especially like when I personalize the recommendation. I’ve had people hate things I told them they weren’t going to enjoy. By like a not insignificant margin. I get a nice handful of successes and a small but decent size number of mehs. Most frequently though is people I know just straight out ignored my recommendations, which is really annoying when they want to get you into their shows or outright ask for suggestions. I honestly hate it. Like if I just say ‘Rune Factory is great, you should try it,’ randomly sure whatever. But that isn’t how it’s going on.
Story demonstration: I’ve had what I assume were friends/were coworkers where we would do ‘trade’ recommendations. I always felt like no thought was put into the suggestions for me but I’d always be honest of ‘I got through (1 or 3 episodes based on agreement that time), but I wasn’t really feeling it’ or whatever I was feeling and why. Hopefully so something better could be selected next time. You (season 1) and Riverdale are the ones that come to mind as the ones I got recommended. You was a case of managing to get through the requested 3 episodes but might have taken psychic damage doing so. Noteworthy thing for that show, I’ve had an apartment broken into so episode one needed to be stopped several times just so I didn’t have an issue myself. Then by the end of the 3 episodes, I could guess everything that happened that season almost to the T for all the characters I knew about. Told my friend about my experience, guesses on what happened next, and proceeded to tell my ‘friend’ a much more interesting story they could have done with the same set up. Shock, Awe, and amazement on what I could do with a premise of a thing I wasn’t enjoying at all and how spot on I was. Then I explained further why it was either really boring or anxiety-driving (and how that isn’t fun for me in this context) and I got so many apologies. She would try one more time with Riverdale. I have beef with Riverdale. I like Archie Comics, so the dark teen drama for what felt like the sake of it just felt… bad? Add in I’m ace and Jughead is like one of the biggest out ace (comic book) characters and Riverdale’s is, uh, not that as of when I last checked? I told her 1 episode for this one, as I’ve been in the same room as my sister watching it before but it hasn’t ever managed to catch my interest in the arc that should have been able to if it was, along with my other issues. She still seemed shocked on why I didn’t like it. My suggestions for the trade were Quicksand, a thriller-like piece involving a school shooting place in Europe if memory serves me right, and Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, an anime about a seafaring people meeting a mech and it’s owner from a space society-with the caveat of only episode 2&3 would count since I advised her to skip the first episode. I was guessing she’d be even less enthused with the mecha part as I was. The only one I know she actually tried was Gargantia… and she only watched episode 1 as far as I’m aware. I asked on opinions so we could either talk about them or me get an idea where I went wrong. Never had anything to say.
For non-personalized, I think the only time I’ve ‘jokingly’ told some group of folks to not get involved with a fandom is any of the 100+ hours games when what felt like half the people thinking about it mentioned having time management issues. I’ve spent a lot of time discussing with parents what content is in certain games. I think God of War was a common one? Might have been something like BioWare’s stuff too. Games with implied sex, ‘tasteful’ cuts of sex, hyper violence, etc. things where I ask the person ‘So how old is the kid?’ And when it’s less than 13 (with a lot of less than 10s honestly) and I have to be like ‘hold on would you let them see an R rated movie?’ Or go on the contents of the game if I knew it, And the horror draws on almost all their faces. ‘M means mature’ does not register with these folks unless I all but sat down with them to explain it. Otherwise only other thing I can think of is ‘Don’t watch Voltron past season 2.’ (I can’t remember the Netflix one’s full title but point remains) since I am not a fan of many decisions made past that point. The amount of people who ask me why on that one any time it’s brought up is almost amusing.
Then again unless it’s recommendation trades or it’s a YouTuber who specializes in what ever it is, like Mother’s Basement and anime, I just don’t take recommendations from people anymore either. Algorithms often do a much better job at this point for me. But I also very much know what I like (or don’t like) at this point and am tired of trying to keep up with others’ tastes
There’s a funny trend I’ve noticed in fandoms a lot. I’m sure it’s very tongue in cheek and all, but so often, literally every fandom I’ve been interested in (RWBY, Danganronpa, Persona, Homestuck… everything), fans of the series will be like “Nuuuuu it’s so cringe and problematic!!!! Don’t watch or read or play this! Haha lol.” And like, it has legitimately led to me being like “Ah, okay. It must suck or being truly something awful. I won’t engage with it.”
And then each time I eventually got into something, it’s just like “Oh… this is just like every other source material out there. A pretty good story with some flaws (sometimes can be major, but the story is still enjoyable and characters are fun).” It’s just kinda crazy how people act like engaging with “problematic” stories is different from anything else out there that you experience. There’s just upsides and downsides like everything else. Like every piece of media in existence.
I almost tend to wonder if there’s a lack of trust between people when they “recommend” these things. Are people just worried that their friends won’t understand what they see in the piece of media? That they won’t understand that it has flaws and they’ll think less of their friends for it?
I just wonder why it is I get so many pieces of media recommended to me in this fashion.

hey there! i'm very new to simblr and looking for mutuals to befriend!
i'm a pretty well-rounded simmer in that i split my time pretty evenly between cas, build/buy, and gameplay, and i've been playing since the sims 2. currently loving the sims 4 as i have recently been able to download custom content and mods which has added so much to my gameplay. if you have a favorite maxis match cc creator, feel free to put me on them 'cause i love finding new creators to support!
besides the sims, i also play overwatch, the lego games, the tomb raider reboot, horizon: forbidden west, and lots more! my favorite shows are buffy the vampire slayer, the good place, most things star wars, once upon a time, grey's anatomy, and sense8.
i'm hoping to use this simblr to share my creations beyond just the gallery. if you'd like to follow me there, my ea id is spacecowboyalex. i have a ton of sims i've made recently that i can't wait to get into game with to take screenshots (i just learned how to use the pose mod and i'm very excited about it lol).
also if any of you are on twitter my @ is alexile_. i'm way more active on there than here tbh but that may change!

rewatched barbie my thoughts can be summarised with a) ken is a more interesting character than barbie b) the daughter’s outfits get girlier the more feminist she gets and c) weird barbie’s first line is her being heterosexual. so like i think. a) you failed at a crucial element of feminist story creation b) you failed at the lesson You wrote that people are more than just the archetype forced upon them and c) you commodified lesbianism without even letting it exist

Oh my god, fandom people cannot fucking handle the existence of ace characters.
If the co-creator of Arcane says Viktor was intended to be ace, hes fucking ace.
It's like you cant even fathom that he could have a meaningful and deep relationship with Jayce that's not sexual or even inherently romantic. In fact I'm even more in love with jayvik as a QPR. Its. Its beyond sexual or romantic love. Its more.
I can count on one hand the number of canonically asexual characters in TV and most of them are only Word Of God confirmed. You'll live if you cant ship this one character.
If it were a lesbian character and people were saying "I just dont see her as a lesbian" or "shes only lesbian in canon I can ship her with a man if I want" theyd be (rightfully) crucified. But since it's an ace character (an ace man at that!!) Its suddenly perfectly acceptable
And the fact that I only recently found this out and havent seen a lot of people talk about it is also pretty damning.

Priest getou and nun reader or villager reader....(anything other than the word both isnt acceptable...😡😡😡 /j) -🪄
🪄 ANON I SEE YOU AND YOU RAISE A VALID POINT but please consider…… priest!geto and non-believer!reader.
imagine just waltzing into a church one day. almost as if on a whim. you don’t believe in god, you aren’t interested in praying, but you’re exploring this quiant little town, and the church looks pretty from afar, and you figure it could be a nice way to burn time.
you enter the building to find that a sermon is taking place. a priest is speaking to the few rows of people listening. the church is fairly small, but paintings and sculptures and the mellow glow of beautiful cathedral glass give it a sense of mystique that you’re drawn to. you take a seat and listen along, halfheartedly, not praying like the rest, not singing along to the hymns… you stick out like a sore thumb, but hey, it’s not as if anyone is paying attention.
except someone is, and it happens to be the priest that was holding the sermon just a second ago. the same one you spent most of your time oogling once the paintings started to bore you, because he’s so pretty for a priest. beautiful long black hair, amber eyes, sharp facial features, pretty hands and fingers — and the smoothest, silkiest voice you’ve heard in your life. like a sun-soaked bundle of lillies.
… also, his cassock is just a little too tight of a fit to tear your eyes away from.
you stick around a little longer once almost everyone has left, just scrolling on your phone and basking in the quiet, and that’s when he approaches you. he jokingly tells you that it’s always obvious when a non-believer enters a place of worship, but he’s not mad; he’s amused. you end up chatting a bit about your beliefs, he’s a lot more chill than you expected, and…. well. he’s just really, really charming.
so maybe you end up coming back the week after. maybe his smile is a bit like a spider’s web. maybe it becomes a kind of routine to speak to him after his sermons; you still don’t sing along to the hymns or spend any time on prayers, and he still finds it funny. maybe once in a while you end up liking a paragraph from the scripture he’s reciting, and he’s always more than happy to discuss it with you. but mostly you’re there for him. for your chats, for standing outside and badgering him about his beliefs while he smokes and listens with an amused grin.
rain hits the ground with a steady rhythm, earthy tobacco floods your veins, spiders by the ceiling weave a web of dew, and his presence is just a little more intoxicating than you’d deem appropriate.
suguru just… isn’t a very orthodox priest. he doesn’t care for the bible as more than a literary piece, he has his own view of god, his own thoughts on worship. he smokes. he may or may not occasionally manipulate church-goers into donating money so he can invest in another overpriced painting. you ask him if there are any bodies in the basement you should know about, and he answers that any self-respecting priest wouldn’t conduct their blood rituals in the basement of their own church. he knows how to pick locks. he tells you once, very quietly, that he doesn’t believe man was created in god’s image. there’s a look in his eyes that you don’t comment on.
he’s funny. charming. pleasantly suspicious. your conversations are enjoyable for the both of you, and eventually the edges of his cedar eyes begin to crinkle the slightest bit whenever you walk into his field of vision. sometimes he eyes your lips for a little too long, and a honeyed irony seeps into his grin when you call him out on it. he asks you if you’re tempting him on purpose, and you shrug. whatever exists between the two of you remains unspoken.
one day, he tells you that he believes it was god who sent you to him. you furrow your brows with a protest, a mutter reminding him of your beliefs, how you believe in free will — how you waltzed into his church out of your own volition. no one else’s.
he only smiles, and flicks the butt of his cigarette. you think he remains unconvinced.

top ten funny casey character trait really is when he conflates something valentino does with EITHER what the sport as a whole is like OR - even better - the immutable nature of the entirety of Europe As A Continent. I promise you that if you asked casey to describe a european to you, he would literally just describe valentino rossi. but casey I think you just met a freak... does it the other way too ofc where valentino gets various casey hang-ups wrt the whole sport/continent projected onto him, it's a very symbiotic process. idk casey... that's just a solitary freak... I don't think we can draw too many conclusions from obsessing over a single freak... casey

One of my favorite headcanons I have for the ace x marcia universe is that ace had to explain a lesbian date to two-bit.
Until now, whenever she’d make plans, it would always just be assumed that he was joining along because they’re best friends. But despite her trying to emphasize the fact that it’ll just be her and marcia— alone— getting milkshakes at the diner, he still tried to join.
She had to explain to him the third time he tried to crash that they were in fact on a date because they’re dating, even if they can’t tell most people.
He already knew about her and Marcia being together. The thing that wasn’t clicking was that their dates didn’t include him third wheeling.
He finally understood, even if he was a little bummed he now has to share time with his best friend with someone else.
Marcia was more amused than anything else, finding it adorable that he wanted to spend so much time with Ace. Although she still did like to keep their date time their time.
