arranged
The og plan was to put some sort of chains imagery there but then I thought. Paimon. Chair. Paimon chair
Speaking of chairs. The girlies. & I liked the idea of the Goeita family being so fucked up that they have special kinds of adult-sized chairs that children can use without having their feet unbecoming-ly dangling above the ground, so. Step (?) it is

Should s3 take the "Women in the Goetia Family™" route I think there's a possibility that Stella's case and the cause of her treatment of Stolas might ones where. You've got a person who was raised in a very specific manner, and particularly was raised to expect very specific things and to be treated in very specific ways and to have to deal with very specific people (especially in a private/familial/marital setting), and when suddenly all those expectations and prospects - however bad they may have been - get thrown out of the window what that does is cause years of pent-up anger and resentment and frustration with The System bubble to the surface and combine in really destructive ways with the first taste of... if not freedom, then relief that they've felt in years
And like. I've occasionally seen it thrown around/alluded to that Stella should feel "lucky" for having been arranged to marry a man that's 1) gay, aka not a presumable "threat" to her 2) ultimately good-natured, which is. mhnn. a nasty thing to say. Like an "oh, the ungrateful bitch doesn't know how good she has it. In her loveless, forced marriage that she's been preparing for since she was a child" nasty thing to say. But like, yeah no, I think there's a realness to how being presented with a theoretical counter to all your worst expectations and being the one with power over someone else for once in your life might be the thing that sets a person off (Stella's power over Stolas being social in a very literal sense in this case, insofar that his technically higher status doesn't quite compensate for the fact that he's "a boring stiff", a "pathetic man", a weirdo with no friends or close connections who doesn't care to mantain a good image for the sake of it, etc)

Octavia’s song was so good and hit so close to home. I honestly have zero clue how we’re meant to feel bad for Stolas and think she’s in the wrong. She’s NOT.
It was so POWERFUL. It’s so incredibly difficult to cut a neglectful family member out of your life, or at least I imagine it is. I’ve considered it before various times for my own personal reasons. And while the idea of it is scary because of course you love them, you also need to do what’s best for you.
You can tell she’s really struggling to put her foot down because it’s a VERY difficult and mature decision to make, especially at her age. But I can’t help but feel proud of her for it. (Yes, I know she’s not real, shut up)
I can’t believe we’re somehow supposed to believe she’s making the wrong decision. It’s clear she’s thought about this a lot, and we’ve seen her give him multiple chances just for him to do it again. She feels as though she has no choice, and that’s a very reasonable way to feel.

Uhhh tangent of a tangent. "Hb critical fans" looove spewing bullshit, 100%, but I do understand where much of their frustration with Stella's treatment by the fandom comes from, because you've literally got people opposing the idea that maybe developing a character past being a cardboard cutout of what constitutes as a "bad person" would be good for both the plot and the main characters' conflict with them

every time i see someone hating on an antagonist and being like "i don't understand why this character has fans, they're horrible!" i laugh a lil bc ofc they have fans ppl eat up evil/morally grey characters they're so cool and/or deep (bonus points if they're hot)

you like stolas? congratulations! you like someone who is a horrible father, an abuser and a rapist! :D
what is the point of saying this when the appeal of characters is their flaws and self reasoning behind their actions. ESPECIALLY about an antagonist
like stolas stans will fight tooth and nail to defend every single little bad thing hes done with some kind of justification but the moment stella fans consider that maybe her backstory plays a role in how she acts today , thus making her at least a little bit nuanced by default, its suddenly being delusional and pretending shes something shes not
You like Stella? Congratulations! you like someone who is a horrible mother, an abuser and an idiot :D Not trying to shame anyone who likes her, but that's who she really is. And it's time for some of you to stop pretending she is not.

its funny how stolas is SAID to be like a nerdy bookworm (all the bookshelves in his room, the big library room, yapping to blitzo about his books in the circus episode, getting all excited to read the contract in oops, etc etc) and yet every time it cuts to him hes just watching tv . and in apology tour he references some romcom movie.
like they never show him reading a book in his downtime??? or reference some poems he likes???? not even a hint of distress about losing all his access to his books in sinsmas??? (yeah theres bigger issues to worry about but still)

like going back on my earlier rant, because it seems entirely glossed over how Stella is essentially just used as an incubator by the Goetia family, she was also forced into the arranged marriage as well as Stolas, whose only purpose was to make an heir, who has no power on her own, and whose status was literally tied to her marriage. She is *inherently* complex based on this premise that was set up, but its just ignored entirely. Yes she is abusive and shitty (I'm not trying to justify that), but she, just like Stolas, is a victim of the shitty system they are in. And inherently women historically in arranged marriages are under worse conditions. There is a power imbalance due to the *system*. And the narrative just does no explanation, no development, she is reduced to evil stupid bimbo who is apparently born this way. She can't even be a proper villain on her own; her brother has to take the spotlight. It'd be nice to at least see her and Octavia, idk interact? To just add some depth, since its feels 99% untouched. Its why I hope she's eventually *actually* expanded upon, because whether or not bad writing or purposeful, it is misogynistic to not address the misogyny in her inherent premise and how the writing is currently shafting her. At least make her a proper villain, female villains deserve the same development as male villains. The only hope is that they can somehow do a proper Beatrice-like development here. Like Stella just feels like a wasted character at this point right now.

Tf-
Yes is was Stolas-
You chose to leave her the SECOND you thought someone would harm your precious little imp. You didn't even bother thinking about how she would feel SEEING YOU IN THAT SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE.
The answer to that?
YES.
And before someone says he never did and actually loved her, this doesn't sound like someone who stayed miserable just for their kid to be happy.
(Before anyone says the last two images contradict my statement, him saying this is the equivalent of saying "Hey little Timmy the only reason I allowed myself to be abused and insulted for 17 years is so YOU can have a normal life so I'm let myself suffer solely because of YOU despite having every chance to leave but i chose not to because of YOU". Doesnt sound good does it?)
But this line here:
"It was never enough?" For her?
Does this look like someone who needed more out of an already shitty marriage?
She insulted and bitched about him to her friends, but it looks like the only thing that she needed to be happy was her parties, her equally spoiled friends, and to be pampered 24/7. All things she pretty much had.
It was STOLAS that was never happy and needed more.
Every scene they show him in from the past, he's always icing himself out from the crowd with a scowl on his face and halfway into a bottle of booze.
HE was the one that felt what he had was never enough.
HE was the one to decided to cheat on his wife, not even be private about said affair, and only owned up to it because the narrative demanded it.
And the fact that he just fucking up and decides to not even fight and earn Octavia' forgiveness back is just..
This is NOT someone who loves their child.
If he loved her like he said he did he wouldn't have given up right then; he would've agreed with Blitz when he said this:
All this finale did was confirm the fact that Stolas really didn't care for her in the end. He STILL chose to go home with the same guy that he left his daughter for, he gave up the second she hurt his feelings, and now we're supposed to feel bad for him because of the sad music in the background?
And before anyone says I'm wrong and he didn't choose Blitz over his kid via him going home with the guy, you forgot one tiny little character:
HIS FATHER.
PAIMON.
WHY HASN'T HE GONE TO HIM ABOUT STELLA TRYING TO KEEP OCTAVIA AWAY FROM HIM?
WOULD THIS NOT FUCK UP THE WHOLE HEIR THING FOR THE GOETIA LINE IF ANDRE'S FAMILY WERE TO GET SOLE CUSTODY OF OCTAVIA?
Once again the writing is garbage, the plot is bloated, and Stolas is babies by the narrative for facing the consequences of his actions.
Now he gets the reward of treating Blitz like he doesn't even care about him all throughout season 3 while getting babied even more by Vivziepop and her writing staff cronies
Oh yeah, and Millie's pregnant.
Of course it doesn't get explored any further.
Show rating: -9999/10 (only good part was Octavia' song)

I see a lot of fans saying that “Via thinks her father doesn’t love her” or “Via doesn’t understand the nuance behind Stolas’ situation because she’s a sheltered teenager” and while this is a hell of a lot better than condemning a literal child for not forgiving her neglectful father, i feel like people are missing the point a bit.
Via doesn’t just think her father doesn’t love her, he has expressed that lack of care with his actions. He’s chosen Blitz over her, constantly fought with Stella in front of her, made sexual remarks during freaking breakfast, it’s literally like this child no longer existed to him past her toddler years. Even if Stolas has an ounce of love for her in him (he clearly has a little but he takes so long to even remember that he lost custody in Mastermind), there is literally no way for Via to see that love as he hasn’t expressed it in years!!! To her, the audience, everyone except Stolas himself and maybe Blitz, it looks like he is an awful, neglectful father.
And yes, Via is a teenager and doesn’t really know how, uh, abusive as hell things were with Stolitz, but SHELTERED??? Not only is this girl growing up in hell with a neglectful father who wouldn’t do crap to protect her from the outside world, she also shows clear control over her powers by easily pushing back Andre. I highly doubt Stolas would’ve taught her that much when so much of his time is spent either arguing with Stella during the marriage or literally going everywhere with Blitz after it. Nah, she had to learn that on her own. She’s not sheltered, she’s actually extremely smart, self-taught, and understanding of the world around her. She could absolutely understand what she knew of Stolas’ situation, and all she really needed to know was that he was choosing some random Imp over her.
