Odysseus knows he made a mistake calling out for Athena. He knew the second her name left her lips. /she/ doesn't like it when he calls out any name but hers. When he mentions home or telemachus or gods forbid his penelope. It's not allowed. He's not allowed to think about anything but herherher. He knew it was a mistake. But

He had /felt/ Athena. For the first time in years that old connection sparked to life. A muscle long stiff with use but /there/he felt her. And if she heard him. If she chose to help well.

It would have been worth calypso wrath.

In the days that follow, it's all silence. All signs of Athena having disappeared. And as odysseus hangs from his wrists, numbly allowing his master to do as she pleases, he can't help but regret.

He knows the rules. He knows how to survive (dying is pointless /hes tried/) he can't help swallow the bitter pointless helpless rage. Why had athena even checked on him if she was just going to /leave/ him like this. And even still, as soft fingers drag their way down his skin, he can't help but silent pray (his tears long since dried up. It only ever made things worse) please goddess, please Athena don't leave me here. Kill me punish me in any other way just please please let it end.

Tommy looks at the forest, the others shuffling anxiously behind him

It has been expanding (well, it was expanding from the first day) but it finally got big enough for someone else to notice he guesses. It only took them three months

He's not quite sure how they made the connection with Dream tho. They're right, but he has no clue how someone who didn't see it would know that Dream is at the center of this

(They probably just assumed. It's almost tradition at this point to blame everything on Dream)

The group of manhunters, about 10-ish people with Sapnap and Quackity in the front, look as prepared for a fight as they could be, their netherite armor shining like beetle wings in the sun

(Except Wilbur, who has nothing but his clothes and his cigarettes)

...if Tommy decides to lead them into the forest he's leading them to their deaths.

The armor is heavy and noisy. It shines obnoxiously in a way that would make it easy to spot on the pale oak even if they did manage to climb into a branch without letting every single creaking in the forest know exactly where they are, and it's too heavy to climb the dark oak trees

No one seems to have any invisibility potions either. He spots healing and regeneration and weakness and instant damage but no invisibility or night vision

He can help them with their search for Dream and by doing so he'll seal their fates.

"Tommy? Ready to go?"

Quackity catches his attention and Tommy turns to him

...he remembers afternoon after afternoon spent trailing after Wilbur as he and Quackity did. Whatever the fuck they were doing. Their weird sex rituals or whatever.

(He remembers watching The One That Bleeds, his wounds never healing as he sobs, crawling out of the blood oak, red roses tangled into his white hair. The burned brand on his back always seems fresh and it makes Tommy want to gag. He hopes that one is Dream's ghost. It seems too cruel for it to be him)

Tommy nods, walking into the forest, the fog welcoming him as an old friend as lillies of the valley grow angrily in-between his curls

He'll warn Tubbo and Fundy about the monsters and the false trees with guts and the flowers and the things that scream. Maybe Sapnap even. The rest of them? It was time for them to get a scare.

Miles’ tails are way bigger than the rest of his body. That allows him to fly, and even though it makes him look way tinier than he is (and he is already too little for his age) he doesn’t mind.

He will never outgrow his tails, it doesn’t matter how many vitamins he takes or how much physical therapy he gets, spending the first four years of his life living off garbage scraps and eating less than once a day stunted his growth forever.

Good news is that he’ll always be able to fly, bad news is that he’ll never achieve the younger sibling goal of being taller than your older brother.

Things I'm seeing the Fanon Stans (/pos /affectionate /neutral) pick up lately:

al Ghuls are highly educated doctors ✅️✅️ <- true and correct and canon 👌

Duke hates Dick 🆗️ <- extrapolation and exaggeration but funny and potential-ful

You can identify a Fanon Stan when they preface their statements with "I'm pretty sure that..." or "Well didn't [thing] happen in canon?" and then repeat a cherry-picked or exaggerated version of canon filtered through the silly/venting/manipulative account of a Canon Stan.

my favourite scenario in which vulpes and joshua meet again this week involves vulpes sneaking off to zion on a VERY foolhardy mission in disguise to test if he can succeed where the assassins caesar sent after The Burned Man failed. joshua of course absolutely mops the floor with his ass and up until a certain point the false appearance works. he didn’t realise the man at his feet is the same little boy he had taught how to aim a gun. where to place his hands, when to incapacitate and when to shoot to kill. the inhale of breath that brings everything into focus. vulpes is knelt on the ground, blood pouring from his face. his posture almost resigned. he spits out a tooth. when he speaks, the sound is wet. “why… why haven’t you cut me down like you did the men before me.” joshua can see something like hate within his piercing blue eyes. the true emotion reflected there has a name vulpes will likely never understand. it’s a forsaken language. “what good would your death bring,” joshua tells him. “this land has seen enough death. the red earth beneath you will not benefit from your blood.” vulpes’s slack body twitches like a puppet’s frantic strings pulled taut. “you mean to drive me to despair?! i don’t need your mercy. it��s filthy.” somehow, in this moment, joshua sees more of himself in vulpes than he does caesar’s influence. though hadn’t it all been the same, once? one man’s muddled desperation bleeding into the next. joshua turns away from him. “return to your lord. you’re of more use to him than you are to God.”

So on the topic of Claire's nearly fatal allergy oversight, isn't there a direct parallel with that in how Carmy, Richie, Sydney, hell, all of the kitchens, servers, and chefs we see over the course of the show treat allergies, and how meticulous they are with finding alternatives for each element in a dish?
