Alright know what here's a little Guild Wars 2 reblog game for everybody; what mounts (if any) do your characters have in their canon, do they have names? Personalities? How'd they meet??
Spill it all below, tell me about all your creatures!!
#my posts#gw2#guild wars 2#thinking about this a lot lately since mine def do!#I'll start: Pirkko has branded mounts and while I haven't named most of them. they were all branded over by Aurene#because they'd been corrupted by Kralkatorrik and they wanted to see if Aurene's magic could purify them in some way#it usually didn't work but Pirkko keeps the ones they saved#Larimar is her skyscale. his egg was tainted by the Brand before he hatched so Aurene was barely able to save him#he's a chivalrous knight type and is known to be just as noble as the Commander who raised him. brave. bold. kind of a dork.#while the Commander is fighting he circles up above and swoops down to rescue injured soldiers from the front line#Saoirse meanwhile gets the SoTo skyscale egg and that hatches into Nightshade. he's fierce and protective too#but in a much more 'loyal guard dog' sort of way as opposed to trying to help everyone else as well. he's an axejaw!#in Regrowth Ceara gets Foxglove because the Commander and Gorrik could NOT manage this little troublemaker#she's too smart for her own good and is CONSTANTLY causing problems. so basically just like Ceara HDKDHDH#Foxglove's a lunarmane! and she's very fluffy and cute and will give you the big shiny eyes to mooch all your food. evil#Ruju meanwhile has a full cast of different mounts who all were troublemakers in different ways when he found them#his griffon Windshear's a northern featherwing that was notorious for carrying off travelers in Lornar's Pass. turned out she was just bore#she's very playful and mischievous and still grabs him on a regular basis. he absolutely hates this#his fulgurite ridgeback jackal Thunderclap was a rogue jackal that the djinn had him help recapture and tame#he's imbued with Ruju's air element magic and is known to make the air spark and smell of ozone when he's annoyed#then there's Blitz his lepidote brute skyscale! he likes bloodstone magic and kept nipping everyone until it was finally provided#the rest I don't have in-game yet but I DO have concepts for the skimmer/warclaw/raptor. the 1st 2 I know what skins I want too#the skimmer will be a frosty-dyed lithosol named Frostbite. it's an ice elemental that terrorized Frostgorge Sound#the warclaw is a spinetail nian with jungle colors since it's supposed to be a smokescale-type saurian critter#and the raptor is SUPPOSED to be the jungle raptor that plointt grew to huge size and promptly tried to eat him#BUT there isn't a skin that feels close enough yet so rip. Fang is a handful tho and keeps trying to chew on Inquest HDJDGDH#ANYWAY. that's all of mine. throws this into the wind

One side effect of the autistic sense of justice for me is going insane over justice and vengeance as concepts in themselves whenever applicable in media.
Which unfortunately means that thinking about justice dragon age for too long (especially with the post inq takes on spirits) makes me want to rip my hair out.
#i can't reconcile with the idea that vengeance is a corrupted 'too much' version of justice im sorry i'll always believe in Anders simply-#being stupid and catholic about it (affectionate)#It just. even if we're strictly viewing one as 'more violent' . that idea is.. not quite 100% applicable? kghfdhg 😭#it strictly depends on what is the driving force right? what are we avenging/ seeking justice for#and if violence for it is called for- then well- that response would be /Just/ just as much as it'd be an act of vengeance/retribution#if not more#Thing is Justice is the one type of spirit we've met(that i remember) that's intrinsically tied with morality by his very nature#/you can be wise and immoral or compassionate to people who very much do not deserve it etcetc#(i hate Mythal as benevolence ((SHE WAS A SLAVER)) -> retribution as much as i hate all evanuris lore but shes a good example of this)#but Justice? Justice to be Justice has to be objective#which IS BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE to apply in the real world outside the fade. which i suppose is where you CAN bring vengeance in.#vengeance as justice but looking at the world through a subjective lens. Since Vengeance and Justice CAN be two sides of the same coin.#Vengeance can be as Just as you make it- it's just that /unlike/ justice- it doesnt have that same objective moral tie.#ie how you get someone like elgar'nan on the opposite end of the morality scale being called the god of it#but dragon age overall has the most wack and muddled sense of that all these words /concepts-#mean/are meant to convey that im starting to feel like im losing my grasp on the english language overall 😭#bc even after this entire philosophical talk - anders' justice-> vengeance as a transition makes me go???#at that the fuck elgar'nan 's deal was supposed to be originally then? certainly not justice. unless maybe we mean justice as in law??#BUT THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS. DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN.#veilguard spoilers#dav spoilers#for the mythal thing#elluin wotr and whatever the fuck he has going on with calistria and iomedae save me from this. save me ellu

yknow defaulting to "well akutagawa abused kyouka so hes just as bad!!!1" whenever somebody brings up the fact that dazai is a canonically unapologetic abuser is really not the move especially considering akutagawa actually cares about kyouka's happiness. akutagawa took what he learned from dazai, extrapolated on his own desperate wish to please/impress dazai, and assumed that was what kyouka would want from him. to be acknowledged for her strength alone. obviously this is not what she wanted (nor is it what any well-adjusted person would want), but he was literally trying to give her the happiness he did not get from dazai. he abused kyouka because he had literally no other authority figure from which to derive guidance. and in the end he STILL managed to break the cycle of abuse that dazai benefits from to this day. he told kyouka he was happy FOR her. and he was sincere. he showed her, and felt for her, true empathy. they finally understood one another, even if just for that moment. that is where he succeeds dazai, and it is HIS OWN success. dazai had fuck all to do with it besides making it harder for akutagawa to reach that conclusion in the first place. he's also actively making it harder for akutagawa to recover from the abuse he sufferered at dazai's hands by, yknow, lingering in his life like a bad cold. he never just leaves akutagawa be. he's always waiting in the wings to continue using him. compare that to akutagawa leaving kyouka's life entirely after reconciling with her decision to leave and coming to understand the depths of the abuse he visited upon her when she was his mentee. like. god.

sorry i’m not done talking about chaos walking actually. i’m just thinking about todd hewitt as a ya sci-fi protagonist like you just open the book as a 12 year old or whatever and you’re like can’t wait to read about this young hero’s thrilling adventures on this far off planet! okay he’s illiterate. oh he’s mean to his dog. ok he self harms. oh now he’s committing a hate crime. and that’s like. before we even get to book two and the whole complicit in a genocidal regime situation. todd hewitt the character that you are 🫶
#chaos walking#interesting complicated characters my beloveddddddddd#also todd’s self harm is like very much not talked abt enough in my opinion.#patrick ness does an incredible job of capturing the need to externalize your pain and the idea of depression as anger turned inward#pain and grief and rage being too much and hating yourself more than anything for all of it. like yeah#feeling like you’re not enough and punishing yourself for it.#so furious and devastated about whatever it is in your life with nowhere to put those feelings so you turn it all back on yourself#because what else can you do?#you can never be angrier at anyone more than yourself. no one can destroy you more than yourself.#oooouuughh it’s sooooooo good. it’s sooooo good. being a mentally ill teenager is really Like That#because literally of course todd is mentally ill. of course. in the circumstances in which he grew up literally who wouldn’t be#like everything abt his life was already traumatic. and then he goes through more truly unspeakable trauma#whole second half of book two he’s fully just passively suicidal.#but love and connection saves him. viola saves him!! which is why the loss of her in book 2 is so devastating.#he was shown what life could feel like. what it should feel like. and it was not only taken away but corrupted (in his mind).#she was his salvation and then not only abandoned him but put him thru the most horror he’d ever seen (spackle genocide) (he believed)#but still she comes back. still she saves him. and her love is bigger than the trauma than the rage than the pain than anything.#you need to love something so much that you can never be controlled.#anyway!!! patrick ness i am in your walls

"The division between the two families [the Woodvilles and the Nevilles] and their allies can be seen in the royal charters that they witnessed. Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville of York, while serving as chancellor and afterwards, were fairly constant witnesses to royal charters and consequently often appeared together. This was not, however, the case for other family members and friends. From 1466 to 1469, if Scales or Woodville associates like Sir John Fogge, John Lord Audley or Humphrey Lord Stafford of Southwick witnessed royal charters, then members of the Neville group, such as John Neville, earl of Northumberland, or John Lord Wenlock would not, and vice versa. Discounting the ubiquitous Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville, of the twenty-four charters issued between February 1466 and June 1469, twelve were witnessed by men associated with the Woodvilles, eight by men associated with the Nevilles and two were witnessed by no member of either group beyond the two earls at their heads and the archbishop; only two charters, both from 1466, featured associates of both families.
Such striking segregation of witnesses suggests that something more than simple convenience or availability was at play. [...] The evidence of these witness lists does show the extent of the split between the two groups from early in Edward's [first] reign and of the need for political society to work with that cleavage in the heart of the Yorkist regime."
— Theron Westervelt, "Royal charter witness lists and the politics of the reign of Edward IV"
*This is specifically applicable for Edward IV's first reign; in contrast, the charters in his second reign displayed a great deal of aristocratic and domestic unity and cohesion.
#the woodvilles#edward iv#wars of the roses#richard neville 16th earl of warwick#my post#elizabeth woodville#Obviously I hate the idea of Elizabeth and her family being seen as a social-climbing invasive species who banished the old nobility and#drove Warwick/Richard into rebellion and dominated the government and controlled the king and were responsible for Everything Wrong Ever#but I also dislike the 'revisionist' idea that they were ACTUALLY just passive and powerless bystanders or pawns who kept to their#social “place” (whatever the fuck that means). Frankly speaking this is more of a diminishment than a realistic defense.#the 'Queen's kin' (as they were known at the time) were very visible at court and demonstrably influential and prominent in politics#and as this shows there DOES seem to have been a genuine division/conflict between them and the Nevilles during Edward's first reign#(which DID directly lead to the decline of Neville dominance in England though the maintained honored positions and influence of their own)#Especially since Edward's second reign was entirely void of any such divisions - instead the nobility were united and focused on the King#even Clarence and Gloucester's long and disruptive quarrel over the Warwick inheritance never visibly left its mark on charters#so the Woodville/Neville divide from the 1460s must have been very sharp and divisive indeed#And yes it's safe to say that Elizabeth Woodville was probably involved: whether in her own right or via support of her family - or both -#it's illogical to argue that she was uninvolved (even the supportive Croyland Chronicle writes that Edward was “too greatly influenced”#by her; she and her family worked together across the 1470s; she was the de-facto head in 1483; etc)#Enhanced by the fact that Elizabeth was the first Englishwoman to be crowned queen - meaning that the involvement of her#homeborn family marked the beginning of “a new and largely unprecedented factor in the English power structure” (Laynesmith)#This should be kept in mind when it comes to analyzing contemporary views of them and of Elizabeth's own anomalous position#HOWEVER understanding the complexity of the situation at hand doesn't mean accepting the traditionally vilified depiction of the Woodvilles#Warwick and the Nevilles remained empowered and (at least outwardly) respected by the regime#Whether he was driven by disagreements over foreign policy or jealousy or ambition - the decision to rebel was very much his own#Claiming that the Woodvilles were primarily responsible is ridiculous (and most of the nobility continued to support Edward regardless)#There's also the fact that Warwick took what was probably a basic factional divide and turned it into a misogynistic and classist narrative#of a transgressive “bad” woman who became queen through witchcraft and aggrandized a family of social-climbing “lessers” who replaced#the inherently more deserving old nobility and corrupted the realm - later revived and intensified by Richard III a decade later#ie: We can recognize their genuine division AND question the (false/unfair) problematic narrative around the Woodvilles. Nuance is the key.

i get why people would opt to say walter was a terrible person since the beginning, but i think that's like, the most boring takeaway you can get about his character. he was already insecure and prideful from the start, and it's what would hurt him and keep hurting him. but like, being insecure and prideful are regular traits any regular person can have. the actions that he makes because of these traits, which in turn keep fueling his ego more and more, are what makes him an interesting character. and he was already pretty capable of hurting other people, but he wasn't doing it out of malice, but more because of careless selfishness at first. what makes walter terrifying is that the more he does it, the more he becomes aware of what he's doing, and the more he keeps going and keeps being more and more meticulous and deliberate about what he does that hurts people and even to the point when it was specifically to hurt people.
i think the traits were there in walter from the beginning—the pilot did a pretty good job of establishing how powerless he's felt all his life and just how susceptible he is to letting this newfound perceived power get to his head so easily. he even says this explicitly in 5x06 "Buyout" when he tells jesse "i'm not in the money business, i'm in the empire business". but saying he was this monster from the start kind of implies he didn't undergo through a character arc throughout the show when it's quite literally what he did. he got worse. so much worse. through mostly the fault of his own fragility.
#idk if i put it into words right but i'm just musing#was walter a good person when brba started? up in the air. but his family genuinely adored him. despite feeling like a loser teacher#some of his coworkers actually really liked and respected him. he was just as much of a regular person as anyone else was tbh#you know it's interesting that he and gale basically have the same motivations. why jump to meth of all things. why go from 0 to 100 when#it sounds COMPLETELY ridiculous. but they were both very passionate about chemistry who felt like their potentials were wasted and felt#like they were finally putting their skills to good use again. getting to flex their muscles and shit. whenever they cook better purer meth#than most other people. i think it's a really genius idea to have this premise for the show lol#cz as much as walter is motivated by him feeling like he desperately has to take control of his own life he also is a scientist at heart#who desperately needs to apply his knowledge and skills somewhere where it would feel gratifying#seriously dude you could've tried to get a paper published or two or something. djhdidhd#but the academe has its own Politics and whatnot. so one could only speculate why walt didn't get to pursue that any more#(aside from the whole grey matter industries thing)#anyway uhhh i hope i get the post across lol not to sound cheesy cliche but brba is a corruption slash character deterioration arc#quite literally the whole point is that he Didn't Start Off Like This And He Gets Worse#again. he already had some of his bad tendencies and traits but it's like. we all do that's not necessarily inherently make or break#it's what he DOES and KEEPS DOING. CONSCIOUSLY that turns him into the horrifying man he is by the end of it all#so i just think if your biggest takeaway is Walter Was Always A Monster then you're just missing the whole damn point#op#brbaposting

Did this drawing yesterday but i forgot to post it lol, been really into isekai genderbend manga
Tumblr media
So yeah i basicly made batman isekai, as the brother of a fan of a otome game reincanates as the villaness and takes in a double life as vigilante
So for a random drawing i got suprisingly deep into the idea, so im gonna try to make it consince
So the main character isnt a fan of the visual novel perse, being the brother of a girl that due to an illness spend her days at a hospital where she would play (and obsess over) said visual novel
The main character is transported to this world after opening the laptop of her supose decises sister and gets transported to the world of the otome game as the villaness
Due to his mental state he mostly tries to keep appearences untill a fatefull encounter, where seeing a mysterious person save her he from a bounch of thiefs (the main protagonist) gains a porpouse on his life, he decides to take on the injustices of the world by becoming a vigilante
I imagine the series would pick up from an early age and just like other villaness stories he would have certain hints from his past (althought not as clear due to his second hand knowlage) that he would try to use while still keeping up appearences as the villanes
I specially would like for her brother to be the main antagonist as the main chief officer and her sister to still be alive but as the main character (with neither of her or his brother knowing their secrets)
Im basicly imagine isekai political royalty with kickass and a dash of fun comedy shonen, in a sortha generic fantasy setting with some sorth magic tecnology

my god churro is the lone woman performing amid a bunch of men saturday night
what a brave girl! ugh i’m so proud of her and also fuckin terrified that i’ll hate the set. it’s supposed to be edgy humor, so i’ll just brace myself to expect what i hear from josh on the regular, i guess. but churro also said she was doing a couple jokes about our grandfather (the bad one), and frankly THAT makes me worried about how i’ll respond to someone making jokes about… about what? what he did? the trial? my god, charity was just a little baby when all of that happened.
i want tomorrow night to be about her, though, not about how i feel about someone making light of an ordeal that tore our family apart and hurt so many people i love— including churro— you know? so, like, while i was definitely encouraged to only ever look upon that issue with the utmost seriousness (you have to be serious if you’re testifying in a criminal trial, uh, helloooo), i will do my best to have a sense of humor about it
#i’m not a brittle baby i can take it#it was traumatic in a bunch of ways but you know one way to deal with trauma is humor#and that was never encouraged until well i guess this weekend#i’m a cool supportive big sister gdi#but also! the thing about how what he did tore our family apart:#we just splintered. not entirely. most everyone else stuck together but my dad getting his dad arrested and pushing for a trial made him#the black sheep among his family#if there was a black sheep before him they no longer need to worry about that being their role#but what this meant is that suddenly we stopped seeing everyone#our holidays changed entirely!#and it breaks my heart to know that my siblings were too young to ever really know what they missed out on!#so i don’t think it upsets them as deeply because they can’t miss what they never had#but they deserved the excitement and joy that was being surrounded by cousins around your age#alex and amber were close in age to noah and ham#and ham was just beginning this beautiful friendship with amber when the trial happened#that suddenly had to stop#they would have had such pleasant holidays filled with love#and dark twisted family secrets and vague warnings not to ever be alone with grampa yes#but the cousin dynamic was so golden. it was so important to my growth as a person and got me through so much#having cousins like nicole and jackie and tori to count on#not so much tori because she was very young and we didn’t wanna like corrupt her

Absolutely feral that after getting kicked from heaven and falling down for 9 whole days (and then staying burning in agony in a pit of fire down in hell for another 9 days) s.atan and his army of millions of fallen angels just crawl from the shores of hell, decide to make a hugeass palace for themselves and then discuss what the heck are they going to do now, only to come to the conclusion that the way to hurt god the most would be to destroy his newest creation (men) which from then on they can further take on earth and make it their new kingdom (bc during the council, one of the fallen angels argued that even if they made a new kingdom in hell, at the end of the day they are still essentially 'trapped' in a box, so would that even count as a triumph?)
#;ooc#ooc#;about#about#what i find most interesting is that despite the hatred and all; there are a lot of points during the story where#s.atan laments the current situation in a way;#i wish i could list them but that would take ages of revisiting OUGH#like at one point when he arrives at the garden of eden#and sees just how immensely beautiful it is (mind u he and the rest of the fallen angels have met for the first time the concept of agony#and pain when they fell from heaven) he sorts of goes through a crisis about how he laments things#but then he's like;; no no this isnt what i want what i want is POWER and basically goes like#if i cant have this no one can; and just proceeds with his plan of corruption#anyways i think the title of the universe' first sin to adress him is kinda cool title ngl#its like; as a human it makes u sort of sympathize with him but then u realize that all this guilt and stuff#isn't really coming from a greater good in his heart to want the best; it comes from greed; jealousy; hatred; pride; etc etc#or well; i dunno i found it so troubling that we can sort of understand more his logic than the logic of angels & god#there's s o much philosophy and theological debates stacked that i dont think I can properly put words into it#bc again im a baby in all of this#but it really is very interesting#like i dunno; something something about how they WANT retribution; or better said; vengeance against god#they want to inflic this new found pain back#and finding that the best solution to revindicate themselves would be to destroy his creation#that's like feral man i dunno it makes me just -HANDS ON FACE-#bc supposedly god loves his creation with all his heart so its like; to destroy that;; what would that make him feel?#and also;; if god created all angels; why did he create an angel that could feel these emotions?#that quote that went something like 'why did you create me to be flawed' AGH I CANT REMMEBER IT WELL#i know theres something about free will that is discussed a lot in the story but#its so complicated to put into words im just gonna go OUITRTROI

did i ever mention it took me bloody ages to realise why Radar doesn't (usually) drink alcohol in M*A*S*H? i went ages assuming the Grape Nehi habit was because "oh he's so naive, that farm-boy, he doesn't even drink alcohol" which seemed odd (because rural people drinking a lot is a bit of a cliche here) but i just went with it?
i dunno when exactly it clicked that "ooooh, he's underage" but it wasn't just that I'd forgotten that the US drinking age is 21 it was def being compounded by the fact that he's in a war. He's in a war, he's supposedly old enough to kill and to be killed himself, surely he must also be old enough to legally develop an alcohol problem to cope with all that like most of the others have?
but no he's not, and now that makes me extra aware of how young he actually is. the lad can't even have a pint. ffs.

just finished breaking bad
#spoilers ahead so! tread lightly#breaking bad#bc i binged a lot of this show some episodes do not stick out to me like i cant tell u what happened on which episode or even which season#the naz!s were so left field like i think the story would still be the same without the hooked cross tattoos#it was surprising how the drug cartel or whatever didnt have much involvement in s5. like why did i think for sure theyd relocate to mexico#a follow up wouldve been nice is all im saying#OK. characters! my fav were mike jesse gus skyler and saul. hated walt literally since day 1. didnt change much up until the end#listen i can understand the concept of characters being morally bankrupt egotistical narcissistic abusive and manipulative#but walt was just . not charming enough a character to do it sorry he is what he is. sorry to him but i cannot stand him#i can appreciate some of his monologues though! fly (episode) was great for that the show needed it at least in my opinion#i like that all the characters are fundamentally flawed ! walt is at his core insufferable but he makes a good tragic story👍🏼#hank was so stupid like? 😭 when lab equipment from walt's school were stolen i thought that'd be it lollll#it was well written for the most part i think!!!!! some parts needed suspension of disbelief but whatever yk#what matters to me the most is whether i cried or not and yeah. yeah i did cry!!!!!! so what!!!!!!!!!#THEMES. obv theres change/corruption... power and abuse of power. toxic masculinity? and family. living life to the fullest if ur insane#also!!! just finished el camino and i liked it! simple story but i like the themes in it. this man's been through so much#jesse was point blank a victim of abuse and im glad he gets to leave the past behind and move forward with his life#owned up to the choices that gotten him up to this point. had control over his life again and building a new future for himself#very cool. also the ending of brba? i think it's good enough i mean i cant think of anything more fitting#but man did he do some incredible... maybe irreparable damage to his family huh. midlife crisis things <3#i hope they heal <3 somehow <3#wait about the themes too in brba!! one is reaching ur full potential... again if ur insane#idk maybe sometimes it's ok to flop. just as long as ur enjoying ur life and ur happy... i think that's fine! walt u and i will never agree#izza💭
