You stare at the letter on your table, bewildered.

The moment you opened the door to Ramshackle, ready to get to class, you were met with a letter sitting on the ‘Welcome Home!’ rug you got at Sam’s.

To be honest, you thought it was Crowley asking for help, or Riddle sending in an invitation for an Unbirthday Party, but Crowley wouldn’t bother sending a letter, and it didn’t have the Heartslabyul stamp. Actually, it had a stamp you completely didn’t know of.

It.. looked similar to the Diasomnia dorm’s stamp, but it was much more.. formal? Extravagant? You didn’t know, but you took it into your room with caution, not wanting anyone else to see.

You did not understand a single word of the letter, the only thing you could properly recognize was your name, there on the top left corner, then followed by a.. phrase? Title? You’re kind of concerned it’s an insult to you- or a threat!

So, you ask Lilia for help.

Lilia laughs the moment he reads the letter.

“Oh- Oh my! Hah-” he splutters, wheezing for breath. You blink owlishly at him, already reaching in your bag for your inhaler, but he composes himself, only a few stray giggles leaving him, and a quiet mutter of ‘that child..’.

“Well? What does it mean?” You prompt, looking over his shoulder at the letter. 

Meleth e-Guilen, the start of the first paragraph reads, chin gelair chîn orthernir guren. 

Lilia takes another look at it, at the stamp, and laughs again.

“It’s so strange!” You say, looking confusedly at the letter. Your friend, Tsunotarou, seems to be confused too.

(You don’t notice the red flush on the tips of his ears, or the fact he’s loosened his tie like it’s suddenly getting hot in the cold air of the night.)

“– Like, what does it even mean?” you say, showing Tsunotarou the letter, and he coughs, reading over it. 

“.. Perhaps the vice-housewarden of Diasomnia would know,” he offers, and you groan. “I tried asking him, and he just laughed in my face!”

(Tsunotarou excuses himself shortly after, and when you go back inside the dorm, you can only barely hear distinct high pitched peals of laughter, and a familiar, bellowing voice going ‘It’s okay, Young Master! You’ll get them next time!’.)

Im convinced the fandom misunderstands the vampires on purpose, ferid is not a pedophile. It’s been confirmed he isn’t so what else do you need to convince you he’s not a pedophile I understand he’s a fictional character but regardless of that accusing anyone of pedophilia is weird especially if there’s evidence that says other wise

But anyway my glorious king ferid might or might not be the protagonist of the manga, i would say the characters that are nearest to being antagonists are guren, mahiru.

edit- when im ranting all this out, im not saying the mangas written in the context that ferid is the main protagonist it’s never been confirmed but from my point of view he’s doing what i think is right🫶🏼 I definitely understand who the confirmed MCS are however there can be more characters that can be considered a main character because of the impact they have on the story, I feel like a lot of people rely way too much on confirmed facts by Kagami ( the author ) when there’s a lot of information in the chapters he releases which can switch the roles despite them never being confirmed once again this is how I see it! If I was in his position id definitely wanna make an effort on stopping whatever’s causing all of the chaos which is reincarnation

Anyway i think he’s the protagonist solely because he’s against God and his punishments on the world/humanity. This makes me wonder if earth in ONS is hell, the other characters are against God too but especially ferid, he’s the only one that’s not under an illusion; humans aren’t supposed to be on earth nor are vampires because the planet itself is cursed and is fatefully doomed in every era. He knows this and has been working for centuries forming a plan to stop reincarnation so eventually humanity and vampires cease to exist, that way everyone’s soul can be at peace.

Characters like Mika, yuu, mahiru and guren etc are trying to stabilize the world not knowing they should be trying to destroy it or atleast try and fight against the one that’s punishing them with this. Mika and yuu have the power to fight against God or at the most do something even if it’s small yet they’re supporting the choice of staying on a planet that’s faced judgment and catastrophes 3 times and will face more now that shikamas dead or rather just disappeared into ashes humanity’s even more doomed imo and stabilizing it will be impossible

Shikama created the humans and created reincarnation but obviously he got that power/spell from somewhere or someone, despite his “death” his spells still exist and of course need to be reversed, a lot of his power went to both shinoa and mikayuu so i guess there’ll be a faction change unless ferid manages to find another powerful partner such as ky or maybe even urd and lest, he won’t be able to kill them and take shikamas power but he’s already going to have urd and lest on his side BY FORCE so???

What's it like, finally getting to the scenes you've been planning almost from the very beginning? Was it satisfying?

So. Fucking! SATISFYING!!!!!

Because again! Back in 2019, I was on Infiltration chapters before I pulled it down, but I was still writing rough drafts behind the scenes. I was in the early 30s chapters when I finally had an idea of how I wanted to end this story! Or at least the final battle! You want to know what the rough draft was for the ending of Guren No Yumiya?! This:

Optimus slowly opened his optics to the clouded sky. He was delirious for a moment, questioning who and where he was, but gasped when he saw Colossal Titans walking over him. He heard echoes and voices screaming and fighting as he tried to comprehend the situation present to him.

Optimus forced himself to sit up and watch the chaos around him in horror. Arcee was trying her best to protect the remaining Survey Corps from the mutated titans while Bulkhead and Smokescreen were holding off Eren. Megatron was incapacitated. Erwin, Hanji, and Levi huddled close to one another begging for a quick death. Miko was trying her best to protect an unconscious Jack while Magath tried his best to wake him up. Optimus looked back at Eren as he roared before charging at Bulkhead. Eren…

He wouldn’t stop. Eren would never stop, not until the entire world was destroyed. Not until his lust for vengeance was satisfied. There was no reasoning with him, not anymore. Optimus had to stop this, and there was only one way that he could now.

Optimus turned his attention to the Star Saber pierced into the ground. His servo reached out for it before he grabbed the handle. He had to do this.

“Bring it on,you teeth-sacked creep!” Smokescreen shouted as he jumped on Eren’s back and pulled him by his hair. Bulkhead ran towards him, ready to smash him in the chest with his wrecking ball. Eren grabbed Smokescreen by his arms and threw him at Bulkhead, causing the two to crash into each other. Eren got ready to attack the both of them, but ducked when a blue stream of light headed straight for him. The stream hit the legs of two Colossal Titans, causing them to fall over. The Autobots and Survey Corps managed to move out of the way before they hit the ground. Eren stood up and turned his attention to Optimus.

The titan had the glowing Star Saber in his hand, and his battle mask was no longer there, allowing Eren to see his mentor’s emotions once more. He saw anger, sadness, and sorrow. The hope that was in his eyes was long gone, filled only now with acceptance towards his duty. Optimus was going to end this. It would finally be over.

Optimus ran towards Eren, slowly but then picked up his pace and was charging at him. He yelled as he swung at Eren, but the titan shifter dodged the blade as it slammed into the ground. Optimus transformed his arm into a blaster and fired at Eren’s face. Eren created a crystal wall to block the attack, and Optimus cut right through it with the Saber before slicing through Eren’s arm. Eren kicked Optimus and forced the titan back to give his arm some time to regenerate, but he realized that he couldn’t do it at all. Eren grunted as Optimus hit him in the face with the handle of the sword.

The Survey Corps noticed that Eren’s arm wasn’t regenerating as Optimus threw another wave of energy at the titan shifter.

“What’s going on? Why can’t Eren regenerate?” Jean demanded.

“I don’t know,” Armin admitted, before finally taking notice of one simple fact, “…but Optimus isn’t relenting.”

“What do you mean?” Jean questioned.

“Optimus…isn’t going to let Eren walk out of this alive,” Armin proclaimed.

Mikasa gasped when she heard Armin’s proclamation. She tried to run towards the two, but Sasha grabbed her and pulled her back.

“Let me go!” Mikasa screamed.

“Your gear is damaged!” Sasha shouted, “You’ll be killed!”

“But Optimus promised me!” Mikasa screamed, “He promised me he would protect Eren! He can’t do this! He can’t!”

Eren rolled across the ground as Optimus kicked him in his side. The titan shifter forced himself up and conjured up a dagger in his hand. Eren roared as he ran towards the Prime while Optimus let out a battle cry as he charged for him as well. The two thrust their weapons forward and struck.

Rafael ran towards a kid as he screamed in fear of the foot ready to stomp him into the ground. Rafael grabbed him and shielded the both of them with the energon shield. Rafael braced for impact, knowing that one more hit could destroy the weapon. But the teen didn’t feel anything. Rafael opened his eyes when the foot of the Colossal Titan began to fall apart. He deactivated the shield, but still held onto the boy as he watched the Colossal Titan’s muscle fade away and the skeleton fall apart to the ground. Rafael looked around to see the same thing happening to the other Colossal Titans on the mainland.

“Ratchet?” Rafael called through the comm. link.

“The energy is dropping immensely,” Ratchet informed.

Rafael watched as the bones disappeared into dust. What just happened?

The Autobots and the Survey Corps watched in shock and horror at the sight before them. Eren had his dagger go right through Optimus’ abdomen, while Optimus had half of the Star Saber go straight through part of Eren’s nape, ripping his actual body in half. Bumblebee sat up and saw energon dripping from Optimus’ wound and his mouth as he gritted his dentas in anger. When the Autobot looked closely, he saw that Optimus’ optics were full of sorrow because the deed he had to commit.

Bumblebee heard Megatron chuckle as the former warlord turned himself onto his back and looked up at the sky.

“You truly are the worst human I have ever met, Eren Jaeger,” Megatron declared.

Bumblebee stared in shock at the titan shifter. That titan…was a human?

Eren let go of the dagger in Optimus’ side and lifted his hand towards the Prime. Optimus felt fear rise in him and pushed the blade deeper into the nape, but Eren forced himself to work through the pain. Eren’s hand began shaking as his hand reached for Optimus’ face. His fingers lightly grazed the side of Optimus’ face. Eren was surprised to find himself feeling something out of the corner of the Prime’s eye, but he then saw his hand crumbling into dust.

Optimus watched Eren’s hand crumbling to nothing but bones as it spread across his body. Optimus saw Eren close his eyes, noting that it was an expression of peace before his body slipped off the Star Saber and turned into nothing but bones. Optimus felt his legs give out, causing him to collapse on his knees and stab the ground with the blade for support.

Granted this isn't the original, original rough draft that I had written way back when but this was the idea and it's pretty identical to the final draft! And I wanted everything to build up to this! Optimus and Eren's degrading relationship! The Autobots trying to help the humans! Megatron suffering injuries and his own character development! Mikasa's despair! The Star Saber! ALL OF IT!

Obviously there were other changes that I've made but I'll definitely talk about it for alternative scenes and what not. But to finally have over 60 something chapters from where I had left off in 2019 build up to that final product was so awesome!

Talking a bit about Kallen's story arc

I came across a comment on Reddit not long ago (in case you don't know, it's a nest of C.C. fanboys) saying that Kallen was overrated since she had nothing beyond her relationship with Lelouch and the episode with her mom. It is not the first time I have read an opinion like that, although, fortunately, it is not very frequent.

Actually, Kallen does have a character arc. It's just that it's developed in a very subtle way. And by that I mean that I didn't realize what it was the second or third time I watched Code Geass, but much later. This is because the series doesn't tell you directly, they show it to you. I understood it better after reading Kallen's poem. Everything she says there is in the series. But they don't explain it to you with words like in the poem. The same thing happened to me with Euphemia's little story arc (yes, she has one of her own).

At its core, Kallen's story arc is about transitioning from a reckless and immature girl who finds herself adrift to a selfless heroine with a purpose that transcends her. It is a coming-age story in all its definition. In that sense, it is essentially similar to the Lelouch arc as the rebellion brings out the best version of themselves. This is compassion, empathy, altruism. It's not very noticeable because Kallen isn't Machiavellian like Lelouch is, although she is just as pragmatic. One of the best samples you have of Kallen's development is in the penultimate episode of the first season.

In the early episodes, Kallen is deeply concerned with protecting her identity to the point that she does not hesitate to take risky actions that include killing others. But, in this penultimate episode, when the members of the Student Council refuse to obey the Black Knights thinking that they would harm them, Kallen unmasks herself before them to calm them down and ask them to trust them. Kallen prioritized the safety of her friends over her secret. The thing is that she had already done it before. By Zero. Kallen comes out of her Guren to ask Suzaku to let Zero go in episode 18 of the first season. She again places more importance on the safety of her leader than her identity. The difference between the two moments is that she calmly makes the decision to reveal herself in episode 24. That was not her last option as it was in episode 18.

You'd think there wouldn't be any further development for Kallen in season two. But it's not true and, personally and based on Kallen's poem, I like to see her relationship with Lelouch as a temptation for her (temptation in the sense that it can lead her astray). Characters in visual media are often built on two pillars: what they want versus what they need, and up until that point, Kallen hadn't had to choose because the choice was so clear. That is, she had not faced a challenge. By the end, however, she must choose between the boy she loves and doing the right thing, and though Lelouch helps her choose the latter by keeping quiet about his feelings, Kallen decides of her own free will to do the right thing and, by extension, embrace her identity, her values and her brother's dream. Not caring that Lelouch has returned the kiss. Also in this second season Kallen is consolidated as the best Knightmare pilot of the series. Her most badass moments are here (and there are still people who have the nerve to say that she was relegated to the background; sorry, man, you're talking about C.C.).

I would like in the remote future to both write an individual analysis of Kallen as well as an analysis of her (misconstrued) relationship with Lelouch. On my Code Geass Facebook page I do it in Spanish and I use this space to address the international community. Now I am watching Code Geass again with a good channel of reactions on YouTube (since 2020 I have imposed the tradition of watching Code Geass once a year and with them I will fulfill my purpose for this 2023...) . I will see what new things I will discover now. I discovered what I have just told you on my return visit last year.

Fans only complain about her fanservice, spit on her relationship with Lelouch, accuse her of things she never did, and judge her harshly. They never take Kallen seriously. I want to be the first to do it, if no one with good analytical skills does it.

Seraph of the end trauma rant pt2 :3

So, I’m back. Not at midnight for once :0

I made the pt1, and I have more ideas. SO today will be (probably) the only other part.

With Yuu, Shinoa, Mitsuba, and Narumi :3

Okay, starting off strong with the main character Yuu. He is probably focused on the most, both him and his trauma, so I won’t cover too much. However, I feel like the survivors guilt aspect isn’t shown as much as it could. Like how he felt so guilty about leaving Mika those years ago, even though Mika repeatedly tells him it’s fine. I just feel that could have been shown more. Also the whole thing with his dad trying to kill him and mum committing because she hated Yuu so much??? He has to be conscious about that, and clearly we need more on his reaction and mental state due to it.

Okay! Shinoa now! ;3 She’s the youngest of the most important family in the JIDA, and still ditched the army for Yuu. That has to be lots of pressure, and she still left. That takes guts, or zero impulse control, or both. She lost her sister, but we never really get to see much about that, exercise for Mahiru and Guren, but nothing much about their sisterly bond (if they had one). She had to hide all of the knowledge about the experimentation from the squad, and especially Yuu, which must have been eating her alive.

Okay, Mitsubaaaa :) She has lots to unpack, but I’ll keep it short. She is also a member of a pretty important family in the JIDA, and her sister and her don’t have a great relationship. Her sister, Aoi, works close with Kureto, so (if I were her at least) the guilt she must feel about the Seraph of the End experiment, especially since it was on her squad-mates sister, but be intense. She ALSO feels responsible for the death of her old squad, and watch them get killed. Again, survivors guilt and guilt in general. And then there’s also the fact that the JIDA tried to promote her rank, just because she of her family. I know that being judged on your family can suck, and she said it herself that it she gets a promotion, she wants it to be because of her work specifically.

Rounding off this rant we have the fabulous Narumi. Right off the bat I can say that, as someone three years older than Shinoa Squad, he already probably feels accountable and responsible for them and their safety. And then the poor guy had to watch his whole squad murdered in the space of a few hours. Idk abt y’all, but the scene in Shinjuku broke me, and then Nagoya added salt to the wound. The look on his face after Shinjuku…and then how he didn’t get any time to mourn because of Nagoya, where he lost MORE friends and squad mates, and then he didn’t get to grieve then either because he had to keep fighting, then protect Yuu, then run away.

In summary, for both pt1 and pt2: these poor guys are only teenagers and are going through some really tough shit. Get them therapy, or at least blankets, a warm drink, and cuddles. Because holy fuck they need them.

Part 1 (Episodes 1-6)

The Story

The story is about a world where humans form a revolution to take over their vampire rulers.

The story overall is great, but the problem that this anime has is that it follows the manga word for word and it doesn't change or add anything new to make it stand out from its original source material. So if you have read the manga recently, you may want to wait a while before you watch this anime because you will practically see what you have just already seen.

The Characters

The characters are still great, but I want to see more of the vampires side of the story. Because of what I have seen from the humans seem a lot worse than what the vampires are doing.

The Animation/Special Effects

The animation is great, especially with the fighting scenes. But the watercolour backgrounds don't suit the character designs. Don't get me wrong, I like the backgrounds and how colourful and grim they can be, but with the character design style, it doesn't look as great.

Final Thoughts

Overall, while this adaptation is great so far, it doesn't take any risks like changing some of the scenes, and thus, this series is pretty much literally the manga in anime form.

Hopefully, as the series goes on, it will make changes from the original manga.

Part 2 (Episodes 7-12)

The Story

The second half of the anime has the opposite problem from the first half, it wanders too far away from the source material.

I don't mind an anime trailing off from the original manga's path as long as it is done well. But here, it adds filler and typical anime tropes that were just shoehorned into the anime. It feels like some corporate business man came across this anime and said "it isn't tropey enough. Let's add a pointless romance, a shower-yuri scene and cheaper animation!"

The Characters

Some of the characters have been turned into tropes, especially the blond pig-tailed girl. My God, she is the most ANNOYING tsundere I have ever seen! I decide to wait on commenting on the Dub until now because it is exactly the same. Basically everyone sounds too old! The demon that the main character possesses sounds like she is in her 30s instead of sounding more youthful. The main cast sound too old, the vampire sound WAY to flamboyant and Guren cannot emote to save his life!

The only good voice actor here is the lady who voices the pinked hair vampire, she just suits the role PERFECTLY! Now only if the rest of the cast wasn't shit...

Overall, this anime had potential. And a LOT of it too. I honestly thought it would take over Attack on Titan and become the next big anime in the community. But it got ignored for the most part, and now I can see why.

The anime took the original charm of the manga and just DESTROYED it!

The first half is great (even though it follows the manga too closely), but the second half just destroys the potential it had and its hopes of being a success.

I might Review the second season, but don't count on it.

If you are curious, give it a rent, but just go read the manga. Leave this anime to rot!
