husk doesn't like assholes who mistreat others.
mimzy is an asshole who mistreats others (abusing her closeness with alastor to get out of trouble). unwanted suitors pestering al would be assholes mistreating others (not respecting/pushing his boundaries, harrassment).
i think husk doesn't hate alastor because he's alastor, he hates him for that one specific trait, because he hates everyone with that trait.
but as we all know, al is also very babygirl (multifaceted) so husk would 100% stand up against those suitors, like he warned alastor about mimzy.
in those cases, al isn't the asshole mistreating others. he's the victim. and husk, gentleman as he is, has learned to help victims.
The funny thing is, I think Husk actually would stand up to defend Alastor's honor and/or protect him agaisnt u wanted suitors and problem people. He warned Alastor about Mimzy, after all, even though doing so resulted in Alastor threatening him when he misspoke
husk is a gentleman ✨

alastor taking advantage of charlie's heartbreak; he comes in while she's crying and his words are really not helping, and he thinks she's trying to attack him when she launches herself at him, but when they clatter to her bedroom floor in a heap she's got her arms around him in an embrace, squeezing painfully breathlessly tight

The brothel scene in S6E7 is sooo ... Alfie Allen said in an interview that the only moments in which Theon felt any form of authority was when he had power over women (specifically prostitutes) in the bedroom, and this makes losing his dick the main reason for losing his identity and sense of self. We know that Theon interprets everything Ramsay did to him as some form of just punishment for his actions, and while it has (so far) not been explicitly addressed on the show, I choose to interpret his discomfort in the brothel in Volantis as him feeling intense guilt and shame for the life he used to lead and specifically how he treated women.

As I make my way through Vanity Fair, I'm a little bit obsessed with how Thackeray is so brutal in pointing out his characters' flaws and sarcastic about everything, so you wonder if he can see the good in anything or if he's just here to tear everything and everyone down--and yet he still manages to make you genuinely care about these people. He'll point out all the ways his heroine is stupid and weak--and then turn upon the imagined reader who might be criticizing her for those very things and be like, "I'd like to see you do better." He'll drown you in this tidal wave of satire and then suddenly take your breath away with the most heartfelt emotional moment.
He somehow manages to blend these two different approaches to the story in a way that feels completely natural. It's like he's the cynical wit showing off how smart he is and how much he doesn't care, except that underneath it all he cares so much. Or like the sarcasm is driven not by cynicism, but by idealism that can see how no one lives up to those ideals, so he has to laugh at everyone to avoid falling into despair. I don't know. I haven't finished the book yet so I can't say where he's going with this, but it's fascinating.

"i hated owen for all/most of s1 i only started liking him in s2" weak. i liked owen since he got choked against a wall by an angry woman and then told her he wanted to shag her immediately afterwards. and then even more when he spent ep3 trying to intimidate and murder a rapist

i don't fuck with this carmy hate right now. yeah he was being an asshole and he did leave sydney in the shit while he was trying to hang out with his new girlfriend who is fun and doesn't have anything to do with the restaurant and represents his earlier life when he wasn't so fucking miserable. and maybe some of you also missed him being locked in the freezer for almost the entirety of the opening night of his own restaurant and literally suffering the consequences of his actions because he neglected the restaurant and didn't call the fridge guy. and on top of that claire left him after hearing him admit he should've never started dating her in the first place.

Listen listen listen I just think Jack deserves the chance to yell at Vlad for underestimating and deliberately maligning him for two decades. I just think that everyone has gotten the chance to defend Jack Fenton to Vlad except Jack himself. Jack is not an idiot for thinking his friend had forgiven him and he deserves the chance to tell Vlad that himself without Vlad getting a word in edgewise.
Jack's friend blamed him for an accident that hospitalized him for years, and Jack went "He's clearly just blaming me because he needs someone to be angry at and I'm a very convenient target" and then celebrated when he thought he came around, and I want him to get the chance to tell Vlad that actually, he's the pathetic one.
Actually, Jack is much smarter and more successful than the man who constantly had to steal Jack's inventions and other people's wealth to get by, who pined after a woman for 20+ years because he thought she was hot even though he never managed to hold a normal conversation with her in the show that wasn't about his own bitterness, who tried to mentor a 14 year old multiple times and only succeeded in getting him to hate him. And Jack deserves to tell him.
#back on my bullshit I guess#debating putting a scene with this into vlad time travel au#bc on the one hand it's not the same comeuppance as canon#and also I don't know how far I want to continue the timeline post finale#and any confrontation Vlad has with the fentons post finale in the time travel au#either breaks my vlad characterization in that story#or is doomed to go nowhere#because I think Vlad is very consciously trying to spare the fentons the pain of any knowledge of the original timeline#none of this will make sense to anyone but my brother but I don't care#but on the other hand the d r a m a#jack shouting at him and finally getting to say his piece after like at least a few months if not over a year of stewing on it#because at first jack is just sad and hurt but then#he starts thinking about it#and talking with Maddie and being told things by Danny#and he starts getting so angry#he and vlad were friends#they used to be friends#how dare he use him as the villain of his story#and meanwhile time travel au vlad is sitting there like. No this version of him never really deserved this#and the original version didn't deserve what he got#but this jack doesn't deserve the heartbreak of knowing why he did anything#and vlad doesn't have any other argument or explanation besides the truth#because he only ever prepared to defend himself against a 14 year old child and a woman who stopped waiting to forgive him a long time ago#but anyway the catharsis for jack would be good in the actual non au canon timeline too

mitsuya and ran's relationship is really funny to me bc imagine you finally meet the guy you admired when you were like 13 face-to-face but the first thing he does is hit you in the head with a brick and then steps on you

I also have so many thoughts on Paris/Helene in the light novel based on this newest chapter ngl
on one hand im nervously laughing because holy shit Paris is NOT okay
but also on the other hand im giddy as fuck because the light novel is redeeming itself with this one chapter alone and now all my fears of this ship being handled badly got thrown out the window HELL YEAH
#TME LN#The Mighty Extra#my experience with the light novel rapidly went from “oh this is interesting” to “OH THIS IS INTERESTING”#im ngl i have VERY MIXED FEELINGS on Paris now#bc on one hand the story has never hidden that he's a fucked up character#(and still doesn't actually!!)#but on the other learning more about how psychopathic he is in canon really puts it into context how justified Lyla is to avoid him#(and im actually really glad Helene is Paris's love interest for reasons i wont say out of fear for potential spoilers for the manhwa)#(but i will say i admire the hell out of the writing surrounding these two as a ship and how they continue to have chemistry between-#each other despite Paris being the reddest flag male lead possible)#(and this is coming from someone who is really fucking tired of red flag male leads in otome/isekai stories)#(but for Paris i will make an exception bc im genuinely enjoying the promise of comeuppance for him)#(and i hope in Lyla's timeline he ends up truly loving Helene as a person instead of treating her as a means to fill the void in his heart)#(but more on Paris in another post bc he got a lot of nuance in the LN that the manhwa skips out on and i geniunely think that's a shame)#(especially bc i think his circumstances are genuinely sad now that i've gotten to see inside his head)#(and i think him establishing a healthy relationship with Helene would actually be really good for his growth)#(as for Helene's part in this lemme just say I think Paris is the perfect love interest for her bc he clicks with her character real nicely#(and i literally do not think anyone else in this story could work as a better love interest to her holy shit)#(especially bc i can already foresee he'll make her grow as a person the same way she'll def do for him)#(reciprocal character relationships yay!)
