u know whats funny is im always complaining abt hating found family tropes n esp people shoving 'theyre like father n son uwu' on two grown men who arent related n who imo are yaoitastic right. well ironically one of my longtime interests has two characters where one canonically says about the other "hes like a son to me" yet people ship them n when i scroll thru the tag its all ship art of them and THAT drives me nuts n grosses me out. cant find a damn happy medium

I was reading a fic earlier and cringing a little, so it left me wondering...

The fact that people don't think friendship is enough to justify characters doing insane acts of love for each other baffles me. Like have you never loved your friend so so much you want to live in their ribcage. Have you never been really weird about a friend. Have you never wanted to bite your friends parents or shove them down a staircase. Have you never wanted to be buried in the same grave as a friend. Have u never. How do u people live like this.

Introducing the phrase "found family" to fandom spaces was a mistake. Now half of fandon wants to force their "found families" into neat little boxes like "this is the dad, this is the mum, this is the fun uncle, these ones are siblings", even though the entire POINT of found family as a concept was to reject traditional family structures as the norm and rigid ideas of what a family even is, and then they get big mad whenever even dares suggest something romantic or sexual could happen between two completely unrelated mature adult characters they've arbitrarily decided are "parent/child" or "siblings" based on basically NOTHING in canon and start accusing that potential relationship of being incestuous. That's not how that works! That's not how any of this works!!
