Had John disconnected him? He knew John’s sense of humor wasn’t the lightest, especially after Newcastle drove them all a bit insane, but that felt too far even for him. Nah, he’d probably just gotten himself a bit lost in the wave of energy he’d experienced in the Tongues of Fire network and was accidentally looking for his body in the wrong spot.

He pulled himself back and let his mental connection to the digital world expand outward, probing the rest of the machine for the connection. He knew he was in the right system, so as long as he looked thoroughly he’d definitely fi—

Everything flashed a surge of blinding white and then was replaced by pure darkness. He thought he screamed, but he couldn’t hear his own voice. Couldn’t even feel his own thoughts. Trapped in one single instant that stretched for indeterminable eons. Then, eventually (or was it immediately?), awareness began to trickle back.

He was still in the computer, though it felt… different, somehow. His thoughts still weren’t entirely in order. The first possible hints towards his location he found were the sound voices trickling through from the outside world. Voices he didn’t recognize. Young voices.

“I’m happy to help, Tuck, but I’m not really sure what you expect me to do here. You’re way better than me at this computer stuff than me.”

“By all means, feel free to keep complimenting me, but this has been frying my brain, man. I got this thing secondhand, and the system should be quite powerful, but there’s something using up a ton of its processing and I can’t figure out what. I was hoping you could do your ‘enter into the computer’ thing and see if you see anything.”

 The young justice team is in a bit of a pickle. It had been a usual mission, Klarion causing mischief again, before someone had mentioned the date. 

 The literal chaos lord had shrieked, stopping his attack, and asked for clarification. Maybe that wasn’t a good idea because one moment they were in Happy Harbour, and the next they’re somewhere else with green everywhere and floating islands. 

 And Klarion doesn’t explain- not that they were expecting him to- and just bolts into a… wow that is a very big and scary looking castle. Keep? Honestly it’s if someone combined a gothic citadel with a clocktower of some sort. 

 Not important, because they had chased after Klarion who uh… Oh no, that is a Very big entity, that is two Very Big entities that could crush them in their fingers. And they are now stuck in this place seeing as the portal closed behind them. 

 Honestly Klarion is happy he made it home before curfew! Even if he had to bring his sort-of-friends with him to make it in time. It’s not his fault, he’s not used to having a guardian, nevermind two! Not to mention siblings, which he’s now the oldest of too, so he has to be a positive influence. Like teaching them how to properly do chaos without destroying a world. 

 Oh, but this is perfect anyway, one of his dads has been wanting to talk to the speedsters anyway, and his other dad is still under house arrest for the whole, trying to take over the living realm thing. But that’s not important, he has little siblings to introduce!

I wanted to ask you about Hitchcock 😔 If you're willing to answer, which movies of his do you think are overrated and which do you think are actually good? He's my most watched director (because film school) but I only genuinely like a few of his films and always disagreed with my classmates about which ones were the best

I feel like I'm holding up a Daffy Duck style sign that says "shoot me" because Hitchcock is so well thought of by cinephiles versus me, the basic horny mod who watches movies with hot people in them. With that said, I remember Rope, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest, and To Catch a Thief all left me a bit flat, because I felt like he was prioritizing pushing technical limits or creating extravagant images over deeper characters and relationships. I love a good technical limit-pushing, but it needs to serve the story! And sometimes I feel like he has an idea he wants to try or an image he wants to show and puts so much focus on developing it that characters' reality and interest kind of falls by the wayside—they become pawns navigating his situations, instead of interesting characters in their own right.

To be fair, this is more a characteristic of his later work than his early work—The Lady Vanishes is one of my favorite movies, and I remember Notorious and Spellbound both being enjoyable when I watched them a few years ago. Again, basic film watcher here. Don't show this post to the Criterion collection.

“well, i didn’t die on ALL of those attempts. it depends on the mission and how many hazards there are. some i survive first try. normally it’s closer to half a dozen, if i’m lucky. really depends on the mission. for example, the Death Engine really lived up to its name. must’ve taken me close to fifteen deaths between the radiation, the oxygen, and the electricity…” the Agent smiled wryly. “but hey, defying death is part of the job, isn’t it? for me it’s just a bit more… literal.”

”your codename has certainly gained a few layers with this revelation.” Reginald paused. “if i hadn’t found that memory projector, would you— would you have ever told me?”

the Agent looked away. “hard to say. if i had, would you have believed me?”

there was a long moment of silence. at last, Reginald answered, “hard to say.”

Re-read an Oz book and I have to vent

The book is an anthology and the book has a short story about “what if Nick’s cursed axe was alive and we saw the story from their perspective?” Which sounds cool and interesting but has it’s issues

The axe, who eventually calls himself Chopper after Nick’s last name, corrupts Nick bit by bit which sounds fun but then we cut to when he’s all tin and he’s just completely under Chopper’s control?? Like what?? No?? Fuck you?? Actually?? Like where did this come from? Chopper acts like he’s puppeteering Nick so does Nick realize he’s being controlled? Does Nick know his axe is alive? Does he even care? We get a vague line suggesting that maybe but it’s not confirmed

Chopper suddenly gets super philosophical out of nowhere and even gets the idea to put the flesh parts of Nick back together for some reason? And Flesh Nick dies anyway? Like what?? No?? Fuck you?? Actually?? Like where did this come from? Why do you care? You just suppose to kill one guy! Don’t go all Frankenstein on me!

The end of the story reveals that the axe wants to get more slaves like Nick. Like Dorothy and her friends. And they know the wizard is a fake when Nick doesn’t. And then they want to take over the emerald city. Like what?? No?? Fuck you?? Actually?? Like where did this come from? Nothing wrong with a little ambition but at least start small! What did Chopper even do in the original story? Chop 40 wolves and then never get used again? Ooooo, I’m quivering.

Yeah that story could have been good but got real unnecessarily bad near the middle

IF the rescue bots ever met/meet megatron i fully believe he would be their shitty fucked up father who gets mildly redeemed but is still an asshole about everything. i feel like he'd meet them and be like "oh you're KIDS kids. ok. time to be responsible." because the rescue bots are chaotic as shit. like yeah they're very good at their jobs but like half the time they don't even make a plan they just improvise. they keep getting out of insane situations they shouldn't have survived. megatron would give them structure.

to be clear megs is NOT like mtmte megs, he's still like insane and a war criminal he's just on their side instead. he very grudgingly becomes attached to them but still makes sure to insult them and do crack. sorta like hightide is but more openly murdery. optimus does not approve at the beginning but he slowly realizes that the whole thing is actually going very smoothly and the rescue bots are kinda getting through to megatron and helping make him better.

I like to think that like how in @phoenixcatch7's Doll au there's gas versions of like cures and such in the batfam's gas masks since they don't need to breath when possessing the puppets right? I like to think there's an organic version of that with the meat puppet bodies, at least with Bruce, where the plates on his neck opens up into vents of sorts, pictured here with a few spikes removed for visibility reasons.

This gas could be some cures for like Joker venom & Fear gas and such, or it could also be sedatives, paralytics, could even vary between each member. (For example in the Cryptidverse Steph has Anesthetics on her claws, Jason has reflective powder that mimics embers/sparks, Cass has paralytics, etc). Honestly I am just brainstorming so this could definitely change lmao

I do like to think they start developing their own venom though, gotta' have those fangs & tusks for some reason lol
