LSTR-S2301 and the maintenance tunnel ARAR are best friends to me even though that Elster was only on sierpinski for a seemingly brief time, they’re bros who fuck around on the clock during work. I think Elster was probably more willing to put extra time in however she’s also very “okay you’ve given me a list of tasks I did them. They’re done and done well. That’s it, my time now.” Whereas I see Ara being more of a slacker (very valid of her) or at the very least just a bare minimum type of gal when it comes to work.

Idk I tend to imagine them fucking off in the middle of shifts to go find weird lonely corners of sierpinski to hang out in. They don’t even talk half the time but they love it.

I just realized the two fandoms I left are all because of the fandom itself and how miserable it is there. ppl just can't respect other ppl's boundaries and would throw in words that they don't even know the meaning of. I mostly keep to myself but some of it was so loud I'd heard it from other ppl and would sometimes end up seeing it. like some artist would leave and sell all the merch they bought just because ppl bullied them so bad over being a fan of a character. or you just ship smth and ppl would bully you for it. like these are simple ships and some got driven out coz of how hostile ppl are. seeing all that shit really is just demoralizing and not make me want to put content for those fandoms anymore.

Sort of a ramble, sort of me just writing my thoughts out while I'm stuck with writer's block, but I keep thinking about how Fulcrum was in stasis for roughly 3 million years??

Like, that's a long time, even for Cybertronians. Not a really long time, not an entire lifespan. But still, it's a large chunk of a normal lifespan just gone. Poof.

One second you're crawling across the pockmarked terrain of an alien planet, surrounded by the sound of gunfire, and the shouting and screaming before and after each earth shuddering impact of another k-con hitting the ground. And then it's quiet. You're not there anymore. You're drifting somewhere between not alive and just asleep. Preserved somewhere in the background of a doomed body, ignored by time and space, still here, but also not.

And then there's sound. Not gunfire. Not shouting or screaming. Not the sounds that'll haunt you till your dying days, your own death sentence pounding in your head. No. Just voices, talking, standing out against a silent, dead world. Wondering. Joking. Bickering. Familiar. Just, not familiar to you. And you're awake. Pulled back from the nothingness you've been frozen in, consciousness tugged forwards with the yank of a fuel pump and the nearness of life.

These two moments are roughly 3 million years apart, but only minutes, maybe even seconds, to him. From a hectic harrowing battlefield, to an old silent graveyard in one blink.

How long did it take to really sink in? I mean, he seems to just roll with it. He doesn't seem particularly bothered. But like, what happened outside of what we see? How did he really feel?

Also, his body aged without him. While his mind preserved itself, freezing him as he was right then, his body was left to weather Clemency for all those years. No wonder it crumbled to dust when he jumped off the world sweeper. It's probably a miracle of some kind that it didn't just fall apart each time someone leaned on him.

And even after they rebuild him, give him a better, newer body. His spark, it's casing, all the irreplaceable core bits that make up their inner bodies, it aged in the time without him. Does he feel it? Does it make his body even more foreign to him?

Then he's also a technician with information that's 3 million years out of date. Lucky him that the scavengers probably weren't working with top of the line material. But still it's gotta be weird when faced with anything brand new, because a lot can change and progress in 3 million years, and now some of the knowledge he once prided himself in is obsolete.

Besides those things, his view of the galaxy, of the war, of their kind, of other kinds, is one of the few things actually pointed out when it comes to him being stuck in the past. So, how often were his old views challenged? Facts of life he held close proved to no longer true? There's 3 million years worth of new science, new beliefs, new words, new terms, new views.

And sure, some of it can be familiar, because they're an ever evolving kind, and they have patterns, core beliefs, repeating behaviors, but a lot of it's gonna be unfamiliar at the same time, because it's 3 million years worth of catch up, it's not like missing last week's trend.

In a way, it makes him a living relic of a bygone era for Decepticons. It would've been really interesting to have had that explored a little more.

my hot take for datv is that the lore for the lords of fortune and the crows is fine, actually, it's just poorly explored because they crammed too many factions into one game and didn't give each the depth of exploration necessary to actually make those changes make sense.

like, treasure hunters who want to also do some good in the world and return artifacts to different cultures? ok, neat twist on an old trope! i can buy it, especially from isabela--she's seen first hand the fallout a treasure hunter can suffer from stealing something incredibly culturally important (qunari chasing you) and also seen how that stolen culture impacts those left bereft (friendship with merrill). but there needs to be more engagement than just explaining in one line how it's supposed to work--because usually, theory and practice vary wildly (and i don't think it's problematic for a solution to raise more questions, it's just the nature of problem solving). so, the lords say they have cultural advisors who're supposed to tell you when something's important to a culture. ok, but to which part of that culture? you might be able to argue that the qunari are unified, but the dwarves aren't. elves are highly fragmented, and don't even look at humans like jfc. and to what aspect of a culture? smithing? literature? daily life? religion? also, how are you finding these experts? what's the vetting process? what if they lie for profit? or, backing it up even further to an organizational level, how do the lords of fortune enforce this philosophy of treasure hunting for good at a larger scale? how do you make people give up things they worked hard for when your cultural advisor says it's gotta go? is everyone satisfied? what enemies have you made along the way? and there's a thousand other questions all wrapped up in twisting the treasure hunter trope. but rather than fleshing it out and engaging in any number of those questions, even a little, it's left at the very surface level.

it's almost the same for the crows. like ok, i can buy that when zevran was talking about his childhood, the practices (buying children, abusive training, etc) were mainly done by house arainai, as that was what he had experience with. but perhaps not every single crow house and associated talon acts that way. or perhaps more have, but in the 20 years having the black shadow hunt the worst offenders for sport, some finally got the hint and have started to shape up. fine, variation between the houses and some learning curves. and i can even understand that an antaam occupation may unite the crows in such a way that they become a rebellious, freedom fighting rallying point when city governments and royalties don't do shit. but "freedom" is a very nebulous term and even when an organization agrees to a goal, rarely do they all agree on how to execute it. it's fine that teia and viago agree, but what about the rest of the talons? what does free mean to them? how many want to go back to the usual ways of doing business? who wants to use this as a chance to change? who's using the chaos as a power grab? who's saying the right things at one meeting but taking contracts against the effort on the other side? and how is all this funded? historically, crow contracts come from the rich and powerful--is that still the case? is that how some aspects of antivan royalty are fighting back? are they open to taking contracts from the poorer folk? if so, are they losing money? is there only so much they can do to help the city due to funding? there's a lot of questions here, just like with the lof, lots of juicy things to dig into when you present these factions with new twists... that's just kinda untouched.

there's some shallow writing in datv when it comes to the factions, and i think it's due to having too many of them. truth be told, the veil jumpers and wardens seem to be the big movers and shakers with the most thought and depth in their writing and quest lines. the the crows and shadow dragons seem second best, but the shadow dragons succeed in ways because their organization is intentionally without a formalized structure--most of the interaction, then, just feels like you're talking to a bunch of individuals rather than an organization meant to last and profit off it's ventures. lords of fortune and mournwatch then kind of hit third and suffer from not having the same level of depth and care given to them as the other two groups.

Lady Raimille. The picture painted by Stacia's tale was everything an orphaned child could want from a parent. Everything except that she'd passed on too soon — but not before giving her foster son one last gift.

The noblewoman’s real portrait hung above them, enshrined in Leofard’s quarters. Presiding over his affairs and his family; watching over the man himself. Moro'a knew that paintings like this cost a considerable sum to commission, and that taking care of them required specific knowledge and attention; unexpected obligations for a sky pirate. 

But the painting gleamed, immaculately free of blemishes. “I had wondered as to the origin of his vessel's naming,” Cait Sith said softly, his voice touched with emotion. “‘Tis a most beautiful painting.”

Moro’a’s time in Ishgard had also taught him that portraits like this one were made to memorialise — a likeness captured in brushstrokes, preserved from time. Remember me as I was, in this moment. Remember what this person means to us. Situated where their loved ones could gaze upon them, and never forget.

I doubt I'll ever feel worthy to sit where he sat.

Throughout their adventures, Leofard had pretended as though the portrait wasn’t there, and it was all Moro’a had needed to know not to bring it up. He’d accepted it without judgement, without ever considering otherwise. What was he here for, if not to hide from ghosts and broken hearts; from memory?

But now that Stacia had told them what Leofard would never impart himself, the pieces that made up the leader of the Redbills had finally begun to click: why a man who prized freedom so highly would build his new home a stone's throw from the Holy See, and why the loss of his airship had made Leofard retreat into himself, like a creature seeking familiar refuge. 

It seems she kept him safe until the very end, Utata had said, and Moro’a’s heart had clenched so tight that he thought it might shatter.

It wasn’t any of his business. The voidsent had been stopped, and Cait Sith had found a new home. His time with the Redbills was coming to a close. It’d been an engaging distraction, which was precisely what Moro’a had needed; there were no stones left to overturn, no more accidental revelations to be had. He would go his separate way, into the unknown, and then…

Later, as he was stowing the few essentials he’d brought into the manacutter, Moro’a heard footsteps approaching. He turned to see Leofard, who was already dressed in a clean set of clothes and red-tinted goggles. “I almost forgot,” the sky pirate said, as breezy as could be now as he held something out in his hand. A Redbill scarf.

“You didn’t have to,” Moro’a murmured, feeling a strange mixture of reluctance and guilt. 

“And I say otherwise, Warrior. I reckon you’ve done more than you’ll ever need to to have earned this.” His hand stretched closer, and Moro’a considered refusing. He was ready to quit this place, to move on. I’m not who you think I am, he wanted to say. 

Instead he found himself reaching out for the scarf, and tucking it in with the rest of his things.

If, after he'd said his farewells, his hand reached under the collar of his shirt to gently hold the necklace that rested against his chest, to remember, he was the only one who needed to know.

I'm playing around with an older design for Alice--because she's def still alive around Ninten's time + 10 years later when Giegue/Giygas attacks again--and realized that while she is an old lady, a lot of the things that she did in her youth were geared towards preparing for combatting Psions or more specifically, the kinda shit that Giegue/Giygas would bring (basically continuing George's/her dad's work!)

AND SO part of that was offsetting the effects of aging by ofc being as fit and healthy as possible BUT ALSO using the information that George swiped (in my interpretation, it wasn't just PSI-related but like wrt technology and all) to make something that would help keep her body free of physical issues that often crop up as one ages/slow down but not stop completely aging until the Psion threat is done.

Yes she ends up growing her hair out in honour of her mother, whom she never really knew, but nonetheless misses in a way.
