Messy living room and our makeshift maypole for an upcoming party we’re having. But I came home to a wonderful little Lughnasadh meal!

Happy Beltane: Celebrating Fire, Fertility, and the Triumph of Summer
Beltane, also known as Bealtaine or Cétshamhain (meaning “first of summer” in Irish), is one of the most vibrant fire festivals steeped in Celtic tradition and history. It marks the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, traditionally celebrated on May 1st. On this day, the veil between the worlds is believed to be the thinnest, allowing for a heightened connection…

Imagine Follower Heket refusing to eat more than the bare minimum needed to survive
She is the Bishop of famine, and her nature as a bishop means for a long time she probably didn’t need food to sustain herself. She probably has really weird thoughts on the idea of eating.
I feel the opposite of this actually! Well, the part of her not liking to eat...
While the bishops tend to punish with their respective domains and things they lord over (famine, pestilence, war, chaos...) each of the bishops (sans Narinder) have an altered part of their abilities such as health, order, wisdom and especially fertility/harvest for Heket.
While Heket didn't need food she likely was offered dishes or the best of harvests as a way to pray for more fertile land, bountiful harvests and fertility (life) in general. Starvation and not eating is still a bad thing in her mind, a punishment, even the way they sacrifice to Heket (the critters stuck in the mushroom trees) is a form of feeding.
Likely as a follower, Heket would be more perturbed that she can't eat as much (like when she was being offered food or havin feasts in her honor) either due to the cult rationing food or her own throat limiting what she can eat or handle.
Of course, I still think eating would be odd for her just because I don't think she's felt full and satisfied by a meal in a long time due her god body not needing food. She'd gorge herself and feel awful cause I don't think she'd realize that's what full feels like and sorta struggle with portions cause she likes the feeling of satiated hunger but wouldn't get when to stop.

it's so weird to not be beholden to certain days on which to celebrate holidays because i kept forgetting thanksgiving was even a thing because our Nondenominational Harvest Feast is happening sometime next month instead due to schedules and such (not that any of us like colonisation as a thing to celebrate anyway, hence the nondenominational part; i just want to make a big feast of things we grew that year for/with our friends,) and i have to remind myself constantly that no i can't just. go to the pet store to buy snake food nothing will be fucking open

thinkin about how if gnomes are partially insectivorous and also live underground in the woods then Cicada Emergence is 1000% a huge cultural event, probably with religious significance, and cicadas would hold tremendous cultural importance both literally and symbolically
