Doodles || Tomarry || Childhood friends/Growing Up Together au
(Ignore the not-so-time-period-accurate outfits)
Think of this as a timetravel au where Harry accidentally gets sent back to the past in Wool's orphanage at a young enough age where he barely notices the changes caused by the time displacement and thus grows up nonethewiser to his destiny as the Chosen One. Even when, objectively, his life at the orphanage could be considered worse considering the growing lack of food, his environment's state of decay and overall unrest happening outside the orphanage's walls, something about his situation felt right(?).
He'd always felt disconnected and out of place based on the few memories he still had from living with the Dursleys but now, it felt like he was home in a way. Like something finally clicked in his brain, his soul.
His instant connection to Tom helped cement that fact. It wasn't easy at first because the pull they felt when they first met was so strong that it scared Harry shtless and Tom, already half-full of resentment by this point, was horrified feeling anything to anyone that wasn't disgust. In the end, it didn't take long for them to meet halfway since they were still children and curiosity at the connection lured them in like candy; Harry wanted a special friend of his own and Tom convinced himself that Harry was worth his time because there was no way anyone ordinary could elicit such a soul deep response from him.
Tom has a mean streak and is more bloodthirsty than his charming facade would show but is honest about it with Harry. Although he doesn't have much to his name, Tom is serious about his self-imposed role as Harry's provider, giving him gifts (from the money he steals) during his birthdays and keeping him as warm and well fed as possible (by bullying the other kids into surrendering their share).
Sometimes, Tom....worries.....that his methods would eventually drive Harry - who has such an inherent goodness in him, so often kind to people who don't deserve it - away but what he fails to understand is that Harry's love and loyalty to the first friend he's ever made trumps any kindness he has for others. He'll never like needless violence and won't react if he was being targeted but all bets are off if he even a catches a whiff of plots against Tom. If he has to help hide a body or two in the future so that they won't be separated by something as inconvenient as jail or the law, then that's nobody's business but his own.
P.S. This Harry will probably go to Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin like in other fics. It just feels right. Probably should've drawn him wearing a yellow tie but only just got the idea as I'm typing this. Tom would rather eat slugs than go to the Hufflepuff common room but he's more than willing to entertain Harry at the Slytherin common room at every available chance. They have their own seat there and everything.
P.P.S. They also co adopt a tiny(??) baby snake when they realize they can both speak parseltongue and bring him along to hogwarts. Imagine being parents at the big old age of 10 to a possibly magical snake that may or may not grow past nagini-level size.
P.P.P.S. Future power couple in the making. Didn't think that far ahead whether I wanted Tom to go the political route or Dark Lord Voldemort style minus the horcruxes. Don't ask for me the details, just know that with Harry's help, Tom finds a way to prolong their lives without the consequences that come with using horcruxes. They may or may not discover that Harry is in fact a horcrux of Tom already but will never get the answer as to how it happened. Harry worries but Tom just chocks it up as the universe's way of paying him back for his shtty pre-Harry childhood. Ironically the type to believe in soulmates and destiny while Harry is a bit more skeptical on that front.
Alternatively, they could also decide not to do anything too significant -politically- at all and instead retire to the country side while doing research on as many branches of magic as they can. A bit laughable because of Tom's world altering ambitions and Harry's indulgent, enabling behavior but at the same time, anything's possible.

Hinny 🍂 🍃- AU where Hinny grew up together and everyone lived
Lily gazed out the window as she took a sip of her tea. It had been over an hour since Harry whispered into his godfather’s ear and dragged him outside to rummaged through the leaves. Every so often Sirius would pick up a leaf and show it to him, and Harry would dramatically slap his forehead before explaining something to him. Sirius rolled his eyes, dropped the leaf, raised his hands in defeat, and continued rummaging through the leaves again.
“What is he looking for?” Marlene asked.
“I have no idea,” she replied, shaking her head.
She opened the back door to let him know the Weasley’s would be over any second and smirked when her son’s ears perked up as he came bolting into the house with a handful of leaves in his hand. He eagerly waited in front of the fireplace and kept glancing back and forth between the clock and fireplace while he hid the leaves behind his back. She gave him a curious look, but before she could question him, a herd of redheads dashed through the floo in pairs.
Once they all greeted each other and the chaos had somewhat settled down, James nudged her and pointed to the corner of the living room where their son was blushing while talking to the youngest Weasley. She too had something hidden behind her back. They counted to three and presented each other with a handful of leaves before breaking into a fit of giggles. The only difference between their piles was that Harry’s was an assortment of reds and browns, while Ginny’s were green.
Harry gently picked up an orangey red leaf from his pile and placed it by Ginny’s hair and said, "See, it’s the same color," before picking up a brown leaf and placing it beside her eyes and saying, “And this one too!” Clearly pleased with himself.
Ginny giggled as she placed her pile of green leaves on the table, tilted Harry’s head down slightly, carefully pushed his glasses into his hair, and tapped her chin as she compared each green leaf to his eyes.
Lily tired not to laugh as Harry’s face got increasingly red and his eyes widened the closer she got to him. “This one!” She squealed and jumped up excitedly.
Ron huffed loudly in frustration, “Can we finally go play Quidditch now?”
Ginny rolled her eyes at her brother before returning Harry’s glasses to his nose and smiling sweetly at him as they placed the three leaves on the opposite side of the table. Ginny got a mischievous look in her eyes as she tugged Harry’s hand, sprinting towards the door, and yelled behind her, “Last one outside has to wear Aunt Muriel’s knickers for a whole day!”
“HEY! I'M NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!” Ron yelled as he ran behind them. His legs were longer, but those two were quick on their feet, weaving through everyone and spirting out the door.
Sirius snorted and shook his head as he placed his arm around James’ shoulder. “And I thought you had it bad, Prongs. At least your son has more game than you, and he’s far more handsome. Hmm he must get it from his godfather.”
“OI! I have plenty of game, and the ladies find me plenty handsome, okay. Just the other day, Bathilda Bagshot, Griselda Marchbanks, AND Augusta Longbottom called me a sight for sore eyes. Tell him, Lily!” James argued. Lily chose that moment to quickly slip out into the backyard with Marlene and the rest of the Weasleys, playing Quidditch sounded far more appealing than dealing with those two.

Prompt 30 - World
@wolfstarmicrofic August 30, word count 391
“Woohoo, Yes go on Harry!!!” Sirius bellowed as his godson whooshed past him, wearing the England quidditch strip. Harry spun around in the air and soared back to where they were all sitting.
“Good luck, darling,” Lily said with tears in her eyes.
“Luck? He doesn’t need luck, he’s the best player out there Lily,” James beamed proudly.
“I’ve got money on this Harry, no pressure, but it would be nice if you could make sure England wins,” Remus winked at him.
“You’re going to be amazing,” Sirius told him quietly, his voice full of emotion.
“Thanks, guys,” Harry’s face split into a huge dazzling grin as he flipped over on his broom and sped over to his starting position.
“Don’t cry love, or you’ll miss the game,” Remus murmured into his hair as he planted a kiss on the top of Sirius’s head.
“Oh, stop being such a grump, Remus. Let him cry if he wants to,” Lily wailed, grabbing Sirius’s arm and letting her tears fall.
“Look at our boy go,” Sirius sniffled, his face as wet as Lily’s as the whistle blew and Harry became a blur as he climbed higher into the sky to search for the snitch.
It was the fastest win of a World Cup match he’d ever been to. Harry caught the snitch within five minutes, winning the game and the cup. He’d never been prouder of his godson. He turned to look at Remus, who was ecstatic, waving his winning ticket about. He wrapped his arms around his husband, and they watched Harry fly around the pitch, golden snitch held high above his head, his dazzling smile painted firmly on his face. Remus held him tightly against his side and whispered in his ear.
“Maybe he’ll teach, Reggie, when he’s big enough like you coached Harry and the Weasleys when they were little,” Remus said, glancing down at the little black-haired bundle safely tucked under his cloak, sleeping soundly. Sirius beamed down at his son. He couldn't believe how lucky he was in this moment.
“Well, if he doesn’t, I’m taking that Firebolt 3 back off him,” Sirius said, looking back out at the pitch. “What do you think, Reggie, will this be you one day?” He asked the sleeping babe. He couldn’t wait to see what Regulus would grow up to be.

The wildest part of Harry Potter was Hermione pointing out the obvious flaws and inequality in their society and everyone- including her best friends- treating her like a joke for it, if not outright insinuating that she was wrong

@wolfstarmicrofic July 23 - prompt 23: Rescue [word count 798]
Sirius had learned to recognise every single sound around him. He could hear the legions of rats plaguing Azkaban scurrying in the walls. They hadn’t come into his cell after the first night he had spent there, when the first rat to poke its head in the newcomer’s cell had ended up crushed in Padfoot’s jaw, paying for another rat. He could hear every sound traveling down the corridor. He could tell how many Dementors were by his cell by the swish of their coats alone. Sometimes a hysterical laughter echoed from who knew exactly where up to his cell. The first time he had heard it, Sirius had had to lean on the wall and had immediately transformed into Padfoot again, curling up in the corner opposite the door. Now when he heard it it barely fazed him.
“Hello there, Bella. Still alive then,” he would murmur before resuming what he was doing which was usually trying to stare out of the small grated window above his cot.
Other sounds traveled to his cell, mainly screams or begging, and other times a voice talking. Sirius had taken quite some time to recognise the voice, despite having heard it often in the corridors at Hogwarts years before. Crouch Jr. The only person left for him to blame for Regulus’s death since Orion and Walburga had apparently died from the utter shock of having no heirs left after October 31st. And now he was stuck in a place where the other’s voice would drift through the door, sometimes arguing loudly, sometimes possibly reciting whole pages of books Sirius remembered having studied himself, sometimes laughing almost as hysterically as Bellatrix, sometimes repeating the same word over and over like the night before when Sirius hadn’t been able to sleep because the whole prison seemed to be filled with one word.
“Rose, rose, rose, rose, rose, rose, rose.”
Come dawn, Sirius hadn’t been able to know if he wanted to ask Crouch when he had become so interested in botanic or just strangle him.
So it was natural for him to hear an unusual sound as soon as it echoed somewhere. Footsteps. The Dementors only glided, and no one was ever allowed to visit Azkaban. It was a double sound, as if two people were walking in the corridors, their steps different. Sirius was about to move to the door to better listen when the footsteps stopped somewhere. A couple of seconds later, his door blew up in a flash of bright green light and smoke. Sirius coughed and tried to better look at the shape coming through the smoke. He blinked, feeling his heart skip a beat, then he was crushed by two arms.
“I’m so sorry I’m late, my love,” Remus’s voice whispered in his ear.
“Moony,” Sirius looked up at his boyfriend’s face. “I thought… I mean, they must have told you…”
“They packed you up without even a trial and sent Harry away somewhere just as fast. It was all too easy, I knew something was missing even if I don’t know what.”
“I swapped with Peter. He was Secret Keeper instead of me.”
As he watched the colour drain from Remus’s face, Sirius realised he had never been able to say that sentence out loud. Remus swallowed.
“Alright,” he managed to say. “We’ll deal with this as soon as we’re back on land.”
“How did you get in here?”
“I had help,” Remus motioned to the door.
The green smoke had almost cleared by now, and on the threshold stood a pretty blonde woman, her hands calmly crossed on her very pregnant belly.
“Pandora Lovegood,” she smiled at him. “You might remember me as Pandora Rosier back in school.”
Sirius just nodded. The Rosier twins, other people who had constantly been around Regulus. He remembered the Order meeting when Alastor Moody had proudly announced Evan Rosier had been killed in a run-in with the Aurors.
“She’s got a knack for explosives,” Remus said as if it was the most natural thing in the world, running around Azkaban with the sister of a Death Eater. “The smoke stuns the Dementors as well.”
“But not forever,” Pandora said. “Come on, I have another cell door to blow up before we can go, and I don’t want to be too long, my husband worries easily.”
“Which door?” Sirius asked as he followed Remus in the corridor, strewn with motionless Dementors.
“Barty Crouch Jr,” Remus said. “I had to agree to it to rescue you.”
“Crouch?” Sirius repeated. “But he’s been condemned to life here!”
“As were you,” Pandora smiled. “Besides, there’s something him and me have to tell you about your brother.”
“Regulus?” Sirius breathed.
“Come on,” Pandora started down the corridor. “We have an awful lot to do.”

Actually, I do have a question on your thoughts about the interesting relationship between Draco and Severus.
I'm not sure how much the movies got right or not but I know a common fanon theory is that Draco bonded with him as a kinda uncle/father figure? Honestly I looked back at 6 year and the only adult who actually actively seemed to notice and give a shit about Draco's deteriorating health was Snape and the way he always seemed to just expect things from Draco in such a way makes me think there's a more familial or maybe master and student (like I'm talking classic master of an art and apprentice kinda deal where they're very close and watching each other work) kinda deal.
I've always kinda agreed with this take but I don't have canon book evidence to really understand it more? Thoughts?
Interesting question. (I'm more of a book fan myself so as to how much the movies got right my personal view is - not much - despite the outstanding efforts by Tom Felton and Alan Rickman who both gave fabulous performances imho). I think the idea of Snape as a father/uncle figure to Draco is a very popular concept that is actually more fanon than canon. Certainly Snape and Draco have interacted outside school because Snape is friends with Lucius and presumably maintained that friendship even after Voldemort's first fall in preparation for resuming his duties eventually (because remember Dumbledore was certain Voldemort was not permanently destroyed, and he probably shared that information with Snape, even if he didn't explain why he was so sure).
I certainly think Snape would've therefore spent time around Draco - and professed to care about him to some degree in order to curry favour with Lucius. Of course, Lucius probably viewed Snape as an inferior (due to wealth and blood status) who he was taking under his wing (we see the start of that dynamic in the flashback in book 7 when Lucius is a Prefect). That power dynamic only started to change post book 4 as Snape rose in Voldemort's favour while Lucius fell.
I think Draco always liked Snape and considered him a family friend/acquaintance but I don't they were close enough that Draco would consider him a father figure or uncle. Especially since Draco already had a father who he looked up to and who was involved in his life (no I don't buy into the theories that Lucius was secretly Crucioing Draco over the holidays or anything like that) so I don't think he was that starved for an adult parental figure to turn to.
In book 6 Snape tries to help Draco (both due to his promise to Narcissa and because he's trying to find out Draco's plans in order to share them with Dumbledore) but Draco, despite being in a desperate situation, rebuffs him at every turn. He doesn't trust Snape and also probably resents him for rising in Voldemort's favour while his own father's fortunes have fallen.
This is just my personal read though and that doesn't mean that alternative readings or headcanons are wrong or uninteresting.

Unpopular opinion based on the fanart I've seen of StarChaser/Sunseeker Regulus IS taller than James.
Maybe not by a lot, but yes, more than Sirius, less than Moony, way more than James.

I don’t care if it’s a little silly, I go nuts for Sirius calling Harry ‘pup’ in fics. Their relationship is my favorite canon dynamic (traumatized and oh so devoted and terrible communication skills ughhh), and I think that Harry just desperately needed an adult to belong to. It could’ve been Sirius, and I adore that being reflected in fic through the ‘pup’ nickname. Yeah, that’s Sirius’ godson, that’s his favorite kid, and it’s so much easier for two emotionally stunted characters to express their love through nicknames instead of just saying the words. We only see Harry’s POV, and he’s ~aware~ of how much Sirius loves him (keeping secrets from Sirius so his godfather doesn’t come to Hogwarts guns blazing gets that across real quick), but Sirius calling him ‘pup’ allows Harry to actually acknowledge Sirius’ love and devotion to being his godfather. And don’t even get me started on Sirius and my general headcanon that he called Harry ‘pup’ even before James and Lily died. That’s his best friends’ kid!!! In a friend group that literally made up childish nicknames for the Animagus/werewolf forms that they were using to constantly break the law!!! It works best when Sirius doesn’t always use it, but when he does, Harry (yes, emotionally oblivious Harry) notices that Sirius uses it.
