Think of this as a timetravel au where Harry accidentally gets sent back to the past in Wool's orphanage at a young enough age where he barely notices the changes caused by the time displacement and thus grows up nonethewiser to his destiny as the Chosen One. Even when, objectively, his life at the orphanage could be considered worse considering the growing lack of food, his environment's state of decay and overall unrest happening outside the orphanage's walls, something about his situation felt right(?).

He'd always felt disconnected and out of place based on the few memories he still had from living with the Dursleys but now, it felt like he was home in a way. Like something finally clicked in his brain, his soul.

His instant connection to Tom helped cement that fact. It wasn't easy at first because the pull they felt when they first met was so strong that it scared Harry shtless and Tom, already half-full of resentment by this point, was horrified feeling anything to anyone that wasn't disgust. In the end, it didn't take long for them to meet halfway since they were still children and curiosity at the connection lured them in like candy; Harry wanted a special friend of his own and Tom convinced himself that Harry was worth his time because there was no way anyone ordinary could elicit such a soul deep response from him.

Tom has a mean streak and is more bloodthirsty than his charming facade would show but is honest about it with Harry. Although he doesn't have much to his name, Tom is serious about his self-imposed role as Harry's provider, giving him gifts (from the money he steals) during his birthdays and keeping him as warm and well fed as possible (by bullying the other kids into surrendering their share).

Sometimes, Tom....worries.....that his methods would eventually drive Harry - who has such an inherent goodness in him, so often kind to people who don't deserve it - away but what he fails to understand is that Harry's love and loyalty to the first friend he's ever made trumps any kindness he has for others. He'll never like needless violence and won't react if he was being targeted but all bets are off if he even a catches a whiff of plots against Tom. If he has to help hide a body or two in the future so that they won't be separated by something as inconvenient as jail or the law, then that's nobody's business but his own.

P.S. This Harry will probably go to Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin like in other fics. It just feels right. Probably should've drawn him wearing a yellow tie but only just got the idea as I'm typing this. Tom would rather eat slugs than go to the Hufflepuff common room but he's more than willing to entertain Harry at the Slytherin common room at every available chance. They have their own seat there and everything.

P.P.S. They also co adopt a tiny(??) baby snake when they realize they can both speak parseltongue and bring him along to hogwarts. Imagine being parents at the big old age of 10 to a possibly magical snake that may or may not grow past nagini-level size.

P.P.P.S. Future power couple in the making. Didn't think that far ahead whether I wanted Tom to go the political route or Dark Lord Voldemort style minus the horcruxes. Don't ask for me the details, just know that with Harry's help, Tom finds a way to prolong their lives without the consequences that come with using horcruxes. They may or may not discover that Harry is in fact a horcrux of Tom already but will never get the answer as to how it happened. Harry worries but Tom just chocks it up as the universe's way of paying him back for his shtty pre-Harry childhood. Ironically the type to believe in soulmates and destiny while Harry is a bit more skeptical on that front.

Alternatively, they could also decide not to do anything too significant -politically- at all and instead retire to the country side while doing research on as many branches of magic as they can. A bit laughable because of Tom's world altering ambitions and Harry's indulgent, enabling behavior but at the same time, anything's possible.

i think the real reason many of us were able to read more books and watch more shows as kids vs as adults is just because we use our brains more now. as a little kid i didnt think about the stories very deeply, especially not on a meta level. i wouldnt really analyze the subtext, form critiques about the way they depict certain topics, or take real-world implications into account. i mean, on some level im sure the ideas were there, but generally i would just sort of take the events as they came. a surface level read, often with thermian interpretations. and then id just move onto the next book/show without thinking much more about these things.

but as an adult, those things are exactly what i think about every time i engage with media. it can be very fun, and i enjoy doing so quite a bit, but it also does take more energy. you have to pay more attention and take things a bit slower sometimes, instead of just racing through it with your brain empty. you get more meaning out of it this way though, so i still see it as a net positive. its not just about "consumption" or quantity, but the quality that you personally get out of the story. the way it will impact you, and it doesnt matter what it is. art is in the eye of the beholder and all.

so at the end of the day i dont think you have to feel bad that youre not consuming as much as when you were a 7th grader with infinite free time and less developed critical analysis skills. you dont have to be in this weird race with yourself. youre probably getting more out of it now than you did back then, just because youve gotten better at said critical analysis skills, even if employing them takes more energy and time. you know how to now, so the experience overall is richer, even if its less in quantity. thats what i think

sonic 3 spoilers (longer - very long thoughts)

just thoughts about something that i would add to the movie

1) i fully expected sonic to take the photo of shadow and maria and later give it to him, since he destroyed everything else and it would be nice like "hey i held onto this for you, might be important" i think it would be a nice way to connect them in an even stronger way. it felt like the rivals to friends was rushed, though shadow seemed to be depicted as more youthful here, i still feel like he would need something more to get through him (but then he def felt something already when he hit tom so it wasnt like a sudden switch or anything)

2) maybe i wasnt paying full attention but robotniks last words came kinda out of nowhere, i really expected them to show at least a little bit of the times stone cared for him. like have him go through the realization and let him feel it on screen a bit longer. maybe he had a moment of thought but i dont remember that. (also it was good but kinda silly in retrospect he really broadcasted it to the whole world 0 shame 😭 just imagining bot from the first movie seeing his future self say that. hed explode)

i would add like 10-20 mins to the movie for this. just let the characters stop for a moment and feel. but then, its a sonic movie. the audience is 5 year olds. it doesnt matter. but i still felt like a lot has been cut or missing? - then again, i need to rewatch it/watch the original to see the original pacing and wording of things. perhaps some things got lost in translation or whatever. i also couldnt concentrate cause someone kept fucking talking over the movie. but what wasnt shown just wasnt shown. also for shadow idk i thought they would go for some brooding scene in the vibe of spiderverse introductions but it went all action but ig they made up for it later i loved the scenes with maria and the stargazing (back when i was into sonadow stargazing was my fave trope for them. stars in general. so this was beautiful. shadow as a falling/fallen star too and in this case it applied to both him and sonic)

3) more music. again this might be just the case of the dubbed version but i felt a severe lack of music? and to me personally the live and learn part felt extremely weak, the orchestral version or whatever it was is nice but here it wasnt hype enough for me. idk, again, maybe the og will feel different but you know. if more of the scenes were treated music wise like the dance ones id be more hyped, i dont like when they use a song but only like 4 seconds of it and stuff. to compare it with an example of what i loved it would definitely be deadpool - the opening fucking slayed and also the like a prayer part. that shit went hard as hell and i didnt even like dp3 that much.

but overall i feel like the pacing was so much better in this one than the second movie and it felt like they actually gave more screentime to the nonhuman characters this time

- this is more critical but there were also parts that i loved and like overall the movie was good, i liked the story, i liked what they did with shadow (i wish they stretched out the tokyo part longer though, that was dope), loved what they did with him and maria, the movie felt balanced enough (but i felt that way about 2 and then on rewatch it was noticeable how many useless human scenes there were so that might change), the gun agents were walking the thin line of being too annoying but it was doable, i loved what they did with walters! also i like wade as a character but this was just enough (people were Groaning when he got on screen lmfao) same applies to the others but i was surprised that was it. so silly

however i still enjoyed 2 more. but this might just be the case of "im super tired, quite depressed, i dont care about anything rn, some ppl fucked me over today and i dont feel good, the vibe is off, i cant hear half of the movie, im too hot and got low bp and keep hearing my heartbeat louder than anything else, and i didnt get a happy ending" rather than "movie bad"

im so tired im so tiiirreeeddddd of shows that are so desperate to shove in the concept of a nuclear family by any means necessary good god. beastars s1 and 2 are quite possibly among my favorite shows of all time, and for good reason. the entire show is so focused on parallels between love and consumption and i LOVE that about it. but season 3….. oh my god…. genuinely i gag every time louis and juno are on screen together because individually i absolutely love those two characters but why is it that when theyre together juno is entirely stripped of her personality and just becomes so romance obsessed and focused on louis and louis alone. her entire character is to be ambitious and to take what she wants so why is that shoved aside to force in this weak relationship between the two of them when their friendship was so so fun and interesting. i LOVE them as friends because it offers such a unique perspective into the concepts of carnivore and herbivore relationships that are non romantic so why for the love of god is every show on earth so obsessed with shoving in romantic relationships into every possible crevice they can find. i loved s1 and 2 beyond words can describe and somehow, after years of waiting for this show to have another season all these few episodes have done for me is leave a horrible sour taste in my mouth. also yahya makes me mad as hell but thats just because im a hater so maybe that adds to my overall disdain for this season. im just so disappointed because this show couldve been about so, so much more but no. we just HAVE to have our simple little nuclear families hamfisted into everything. and i know they dont even get together but god does it drive me insane that they even had to have a romantic relationship in the first place when their friendship was so perfect. this show started off as a testiment to all kinds of love but for some god forsaken reason i cant seem to wrap my head around they just had to end it on a note of “forget everything the show stands for, were going to make it romance now !” (yes im aware given legoshi and harus relationship it was romance to begin with, but that was special, unique to them. the idea of louis being another side to legoshis coin of loving herbivores was again, special, unique to him and legoshis relationship, and now all that feels stained by this random worthless relationship between louis and juno where juno just gets tossed to the side anyway, so what was the point?) i seriously wish theyd just focused this season on developing the relationships between characters we already knew and loved, with the addition of yahya and melon, without having to shove in new relationships that legitimately feel like nothing but fanservice. i get way too worked up about things that dont matter but by god if louis and junos relationship has 0 haters i am dead. i will die on the hill that their love is essentially meaningless, juno in her ever growing ambition seeing louis as a prize to be won to grow her status as a wolf(as she once saw legoshi given the whole “most powerful couple at school” thing) and louis, though he chastised legoshi for falling for haru because she was the first herbivore to pay attention to him, is fundamentally no different. like i said, two sides of the exact same coin, and louis “love” for juno is entirely circumstantial. they are not special to eachother like legoshi and haru, or even legoshi and jack(obviously in a platonic sense but regardless what legoshi and jack have as friends is something unique and special to them)(this unique sort of love between people is literally a fundamental theme in the show and they just completely shove that aside for the sake of some stupid cishet relationship please just kill me)

on the topic of art & art style i think its also important to remember the amount of time that goes into it. very very few people are going to watch a life changing tutorial or see a reference that makes everything click and almost magically their art looks like someone elses. i have over 11 years into this hobby its building skills rather than something that just happens

the oldest i have access to rn is from 2014 the lines are totally scratchy & unconfident the coloring is too scared to make any statements & overall its the desire to mimic what i saw & liked without any real thought into what made others work something i liked

2015 sees a little improvement in line confidence & a little more thought into shading but its clear i just knew clothes were something people wear & didnt have any thoughts on how it reacts to being worn. just total guess work and it looks off because of it. and yet again the bg is taking an idea & trying to make it work without understanding it

2016 i hit my first feeling of "huh if u take the lines away my coloring is almost solid enough to hold up without it maybe i should try sometime" theres perhaps a little more understanding going on in the clothes but the lighting was clearly not thought about

2017s when things really started picking up i think it was the last year i did line art. even if i didnt quite understand it theres more thought put into the shading, what colors work with what & what kind of depth that can give instead of just making the same hue slightly darker & calling it a day

2018 took a bit of a hit bc i started doing lineless art & needed to get used to that & the type of refining & attention to shape thats required for it rather than before where the lines defined the shape so everything else was secondary. no lines really let me play with brushes & totally redefine how i did hair. likewise it forces more depth range in shading bc if u dont it really really looks flat.

2019 we're more used to the lineless style theres less practice of how to do the style itself and more refining going on. this is the exact art i spent 6 hours redrawing the shirt & getting frustrated it didnt look right i went & put on a similar shirt & sat in front of a mirror for a long long time actually paying attention to what parts of the fabric grabbed where & fell where & it finally started to actually look like something instead of just mush stuck on in a lump. far from prefect but a good start. likewise i was gradually learning to refine other shapes as well & starting to fuck around with reflective light despite totally not understanding it. to this day i still dont know how to do noses but at this point i decided a little triangle for the lightest part worked well enough to get the point across

2020 was a rough time & i lost some of the progress i made before & had to relearn different balances like face proportions & the like. shading was still a lot of hard shading, deciding a deep shadow color & using that as the main & not really having any softer gradients. theres a bit of an attempt at transitional colors though. also the year i decided to start using eye color at the ends of the eyelashes for fun. i also got into aru sekai series at the end of the year so sorry thats going to be most of my examples from here on

2021 i felt very brave this year i did multiple pieces that took the whole month to finish (condensed time without breaks is more like 24 hours per piece) i really felt like messing around with what moods lighting can give & also wanted to do real backgrounds for once & honestly i wish i would do that more still. put some real thought into putting things in the foreground to give more depth & make it seem more complete. the shape of the clothes & bed could definitely be refined more as well as i'd handle the wet part of the wall from whatever the blue liquid is differently now as it doesnt quite reads as wet so much as just shadow. likewise the liquid should have a bit of a different way of reflecting light so it looks like a liquid and not a goo. uh but i still really like this one there was a lot of thought put into it & i think it shows even if its not up to my current standard

2022. tempted to use the anni art again but i think this one shows off the skill level better. different lighting & how that interacts with different parts. keeping the shape of the skirt part in mind while its hidden under her jacket was difficult & wasnt done the best i couldve but theres definitely softer and more thoughtful blending going on in other parts of the clothes like her jacket. again using the flower petals to put something in the foreground to make it feel more full. working on making shapes more clear constantly but thats a given any year.

2023 was more continuation trying to make shapes & details as clean as possible. less messing with lighting & backgrounds than before but theres still plenty of attention to detail going on in basically every part i can manage to think of. this is still the thing that took me the longest to date 37 hours & even then i wish i had had time to put more thought into a real bg a type of destroyed city type of scene but alas i did have a deadline on this one and also i was so so tired from all of this. i do enjoy using the broken glass to show a glimpse of whats going on in the other songs i really do need to recycle that again i could outdo myself given the time & energy just u wait. but i still love this as is.

2024 rough year i moved & was struggling with so so much legal paperwork and then also other assignments most of my art was nothing more than doodles but i really ended the year off well with simaenaga rime. technically i finished it in january this year but i was over like 2/3 done with it when the year ended so im counting it. this wasnt even supposed to be some sort of statement i just saw the outfit irl & thought it would suit her so i self indulgently started drawing it & before i knew it it took 18 hours of work when i thought itd be 12 at most. so much thought into the direction of the fabric and all the little details on the outfit. and this is a simplified version of the actual design. i dont like how her nails turned out i somehow dont know how to color nails despite keeping my own long u would think itd be easy but no. adding color variation in the whites so its less flat & more interesting but still reads as white. despite a basic bg it still gives the feel i wanted so im more than happy with it

2025 i FINALLY drew my beloved Angel From Songs Ou-chan (tenshi) again & really used it to play with lighting & expressions & colors. the one part that really fell short of my vision is i wanted to have the inside of her hair look like its glowing blue & it admittedly doesnt look that off but its not what i was hoping for either. i want to keep this trend this year making interesting lighting and/or angles & try to get in some with real bgs again.

i just want to say. i really love your art so much .your art style is the kind of art style that id have to work really hard to divert from how i normally draw to achieve, and to think that the way u draw is just your natural way of drawing amazes me so much. the figures you draw have so much form to them. theyre not smooth they look like theres fat clinging to their muscles and skin over thatfat. i want to say that they are unattractive like they dont look polished and clean they look like regular people but that quality is what makes your art attractive to me so its a bit paradoxical.

OK i was going to answer this message yesterday but i was running around and just did not have time. But i do have opinions and one day i WILL be making a tierlist. unfortunately this is not comprehensive because theres also a number of minigames i just havent really played enough to have a strong opinion on because as i progressed in the series i got too invested in the plot to run around and do all the side things. we WILL be going back though its just taking a while cuz ive got other stuff going on. anyways ONTO THE QUESTION

favorites: - karaoke: if youve been following my liveblogs youre probably aware that im a huge karaoke nut. i love karaoke its so important to me it makes me so happy that i can take gangsters to the karaoke bar and let them sing their hearts out its so silly its so important i love it so much - disco: genuinely i think one of the most diabolical things in the yakuza franchise is that the disco minigame never makes a comeback. which like i can appreciate given that its something that exists due to the era in which y0 is set But its also diabolical because everything about it makes me absurdly happy. friday night i think actually mightve been my first real exposure to yakuza as well - cabaret club (prior to gaiden): the cabaret club management is pretty fun but i really enjoy mostly just getting to talk to the girls theyre honestly all really funny. additionally its a really fun tool for fleshing out the pov characters as well and overall i like it quite a lot. - taxi driver: not sure how much of my liveblog you've retained so ill keep it vague but at some point there is a taxi driver minigame and like i actually adore it i think its ridiculously fun they like grade you on your driving and people skills and its a lot to keep track of but i love it. like i mentioned earlier that theres a number of minigames i havent had time to really sit down and do because i zeroed in on the plot, but i loved the taxi minigame so much i sat there and did it for hours i love that thing - photo booth: this one barely counts as a minigame bc theres not much interaction but its just really cute i love it. i love it so much. - comedy duo: this ones unlocked through a substory but basically the premise is that some guy's comedy partner walked out on him so the pov character offers to help out instead. the goal is to pick the funniest response and have the best comedic timing, so its mostly just how fast you can read + react, but its really silly and i love it so much - movie theater: the goal for this one is to make sure that ichiban doesnt fall asleep bc the movies are insanely boring so its basically just a pure reaction based minigame, but what i really love about it is that he can take his friends with him and theres certain movies that they'll really love and theyll get so excited and its soooooo cute. But make sure you pay attention to whats going on because they WILL be sad if you dont remember - miss match: ill have to be honest putting ichiban on an online dating app is quite possibly like the funniest premise for a minigame and its just. SO SILLYYYYYYYY its so silly and im beyond obsessed with it. i struggle because im still trying to learn the ps remote inputs but its so funny i cannot lie to you i love it - mahjong: Look man you already know i love mahjong. MAHJONG FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she got me into yakuza anyways so i could never hate her

least favorite: - batting: dude i hate the batting cages. honestly the least favorite list would be a lot longer if i tried 100% all of these games but since the only one im doing rn is y0... Well i have a lot of hatred in my heart for some of these games. anyways back to the point my reaction speed is not great and the gold rushes truly put me through something abominable. HATE BATTING CAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - golf: Genuinely i feel like this game just hates me in every way even following the guides i literally cannot get the ball to go where i want it to go ever and its such a miserable wretched time and I HATE GOLF I HATE GOLF IIII HATEEEE GOLFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - koi koi: My koi koi trauma. dude i spent so long trying to get the koi koi completion point for y0 it was truly embarrassing. part of that was because i didnt realize you could double the bet or whatever in the settings but also the other part of it was that i think the game just kind of hates me. Once you figure out the yaku though its not as bad but still. - blackjack: this one really isnt even fair because its entirely my fault but i spent so long trying to get the y0 blackjack completion point and couldnt get anywhere because you can only win pittance... Or so i thought. Because there was a high stakes blackjack table the whole time like right across the room and i DIDNT REALIZE?????????? But i hate blackjack anyways because im scarred - telephone club: hoenstly its not that hard but its just annoying because im so bad at hitting the right responses and its a game that im so clearly not the target audience for so im like Ok this is stupid. i live for different interpretations of the parts of saikis powers that havent been confirmed, but whenever i see someone misinterpret what HAS been confirmed, i go a little insane..

its hardly justified cuz people dont have to know every little thing about a piece of media to be able to enjoy it and can make whatever fan pieces they want, so dont take this too seriously im just very autistic about saiki k so my brain explodes when people get things wrong, especially when its really obvious that they either didnt finish the show or didnt pay attention cuz some things are very prominent in the series 😭
