The Lodgers are the society! They make the magic, the energy, the environment, Jekyll is just the ring leader of it all making sure things don’t get to out of hand, but in the end he had started to have a hard time being able to find that control and keep them in check.

Ok ok, I get the Lodgers hesitants, Fritz brought to my attention that because Jasper is the newest lodger, despite everything they probably dont have enough trust in him.

Which I definitely get, they are in hard times right now and its hard to trust Jasper, even if they’ve known him for a while they were just betrayed by someone they’ve known for years, how can they trust someone they’ve known for a little over a month (I think)

Also theres a reason why I said that one off comment, not only because it was a trope I see a lot, but because I truly felt like it was a possibility

BUTTTT!! With this it doesn’t necessarily mean that they wont 100% not follow through with what Jasper is saying.

It is clear that they are unsure, yes, but they may need to think it over, and theres got to be a few lodgers who agree with his points.

Some who agree with Jasper that may help the other Lodgers get on board to. If they are truly Reluctant to Jasper leading them because they haven’t known him for long, if some people who they have been living with for years joining up may give them the boost to join.

Jasper made many great points in his speech, and with so many people not everyone could have disagreed with what he said.

I believe this moment of doubt will be just that, a moment, but once other people start agreeing and maybe adding their own points, then it will grow into what Jasper wanted before, the lodgers believing him and letting him lead them in this hard time

It will be the next part of this turning point into someone more confident for Jasper, because while motivating the lodgers with words might be easy, actually forming a plan and leading them through it will be harder, it will also teach him to not give up quickly when things look bad.

Hyde’s just casually acting like he didn’t just have a mental breakdown and immediately just teases Lanyon (I love them so much chat it’s unreal)

Anyway, back to the actual pannel.

I find it interesting how in Hydes head, he also has a reputation to keep up, its not just Jekyll. The only difference is that hyde has his tough guy, bad boy rep (I hate myself for saying that) He cant let anyone see his weakness, not even Jekyll.

He clearly has mentally trained himself to be able to just change his mood on a switch, but even if he can change how he acts his face has to show some evidence of what happened, i mean we’ve seen him be a little bloody from the glass and Lanyon must have seen that too.

He might be talking about what Hyde looks like when he said he made quite a mess out of himself, not only the glass, which might make Hyde nervous, i feel like he wont be able to keep his facade up for long with how he was acting before.

It’s a little hard delve into the few words they exchanged but im excited for the next update, which may include some blaming of what happened to Jekyll.

Seeing you cry hurts him and makes him reassess his approach with you. Unfortunately, he never thinks that letting you go is what you need, so his new techniques usually boil down to more one on one time doing different things that might improve your mood.

Criminal Minds PRIDE Fic Challenge!

Here we go! First writing challenge ever and I'm even more excited about the theme. During June I ask fic writers to challenge themselves a little bit by writing a piece that is LGBTQ+ inclusive!!! Don't let the topic intimidate you; If you want to participate, but don't know where to start, there are prompts to help. All the fics will be collected in a Masterlist that will be avalible by July 1st.

These prompts are only ideas to help get you started! You can write any LGBTQ+ centered fic you want! Feel free to modify any of the more specific prompts to your liking.

Prompts:

Character coming out to their friends/family/the team.

Character's found family is more supportive than biological family when they come out.

Characters go to a pride parade/festival/event!

Characters discuss queer coding in media.

Character(s) explains their new, queer relationship to a child.

Character 1's child comes out to them. They go to Character 2 to ask what they wish their parents would have done.

Character 1 is having an identity crisis (gender or sexuality). They go to Character 2 for help.

Character 1 is confident about their identity. Character 2 isn't, so they ask for some advice.

Character 1 is in a straight passing relationship and worries about the visibility of their queer identity. Their partner is incredibly supportive in helping them express themselves.

Character 1 gives Character 2 a gender affirming haircut.

(NSFW) Character 1 gifts Character 2 gender affirming lingerie and it gives them quite the confidence boost.

Aro and Ace Prompts:

Character 1 keeps trying to set up Character 2 with people/telling them to find someone to help ease their stress. Character 2 has had enough of it.

Character has a monthly spike in libido and it makes them question their identity. Spencer tries to help with a ramble about science (NSFW add on: and a few other ways).

Happy 10/25, the third most important religious holiday in the Homestuck Calender, and we got a new HS2 to celebrate, focusing on one of the new kids. The new kids were one of the parts of Homestuck 2 I actually liked, so let's see how the new writers handle them! With a Jailbreak reference, apparently.

Wait, hold on, deep lore: thespiansGlamor is Harry, glutinousGymnast is Tavros. RecidicivousGainsayer and gavageCunctation are names we haven't seen before. GC fits into the AGTC DNA theme of all the screen names we've seen so far (it's Terezi's acronym), and RG doesn't. They might be random NPCs, but they might also be foreshadowing. Also, neither Rose nor Kanaya appear to be on their daughter's friendlist, unless they're under the scroll bar, but maybe that's not weird.

What, uh, what did she draw the key with, HS2? That's her blood color, but she's not bleeding.

Also, who's narrating this? This has been a question in HS2 all along, but the narration here calls attention to itself more. It's much more "Homestucky" than HS2's had been.

We even have narration describing conversation, which is something HS2 has never done and HS1 restricted to carapacians.

You suggest to Vriska that you should go the other direction. Vriska says nah this is definitely where we wanna be. She says between the two of you, you've probably got enough luck to take this whole place off the map if you really wanted. You ask her what the fuck she means by that. She says you know like with your Thief of Light powers. You tell her you don't have anything like that. She says huh, weird!

Oh FFS now I have to go look up if post-Retcon Vriska met Aranea, her own dancestor who was not a Thief of Light. That's such a weird thing for Vriska to assume, that Vrissy not only has Vriska's powers but has mastered them. Also, I wonder if this narration style, besides being a Jailbreak reference, is because the new writers aren't confident writing the HS2 characters yet? Or maybe they just don't want Vriska/Vrissy dialogues because they're kind of hard to read.

I like these expressions. I also like this continuation of Candy Lore, that all the HS1 characters see Candyland as a "fake" universe and that's part of why they fucked around so much and got so fucking weird, whereas we see here that the actual Candy Natives do not see their planet as "bootleg". The fact that the HS parents don't think of their own children as entirely "real" is actually super fucked up, but I guess Yiffy's got the main right of complaint there.

I like that Vriska, who can fly, still makes Vrissy give her a boost. What a jerk!

Vriska says now THAT sounds like some shit a REAL Vriska would say! You roll your eyes and start to leave when Vriska calls out to ask if you're going without wishing her good luck. As you start to wish her luck she cuts you off and tells you to keep it, as she already has aaaaaaaall the luck she needs. You say okay dude.

I don't know if the original HS2 writers intended for the resolution of the "Vrissy kind of idolizes Vriska" subplot to end with "Vriska's so fucking Vriska that Vrissy is disillusioned within literally minutes", but it's honestly kind of funny and I like it.

JANE: From the conversation recovered from Egbert's phone, we've learned that Roxy has been... conspiring alongside the rebels for months now. Operating a lab deep within the ruins of the Troll Memorial Meteor, she and her coconspirator Calliope are preparing some kind of super weapon they've dubbed "The Plot Point". JANE: Heretofore referred to as The Point.

It's a little convenient to the new team that they took over right when HS2 was starting to actually go somewhere, but regardless, that was a neat page. I got a soft laugh out of it, the plot is starting to move, and there was some decent worldbuilding.

You know... I took a creative writing course through a community college a few years ago, and something the instructor said has really stuck with me.

Most of the small class were women like me, so of course the topic of fanfiction came up-- most of us were fic authors. Upon learning this, the instructor straightened up and told us "never write for free".

Never write for free.

At the time, I kind of took it to heart, because I was really trying to get into publishing my own stuff, which is scary and difficult. But now that it's been a couple years, I'm kind of gobsmacked that THAT was his sage advice.

Never write for free.

In one fell swoop, he managed to cut us all down and invalidate all the work we've already put into our craft. He said it with the surety of someone who had found the answer 42, like he had the end all be all destination to all our writer's journeys, nevermind how diverse our paths all were.

Never write for free.

Could you imagine? Never writing for free means writing to be published. It means writing what you think people will want to hear. It means monetizing what may just be a hobby for some people-- of whom we had several in the class. They just wanted to learn how to tell better stories, not become the next literary great.

Our entire history as a species has been told as stories. It's cave art and bones of family units-- it's pieces of artifacts we try to ascribe stories to. Children on the shoulders of parents to leave their handprint on a cave wall, footsteps of mother and child in volcanic ash, and the warped remains of disabled hominids who lived a long life with the help of their family.

Stories are inscribed in the very fabric of our social DNA. It's part of who we are. It's how we dream, argue, adore, and condemn the world around us.

And this man. This tiny white man teaching a night class of ten people, tells us the answer is to never write for free.

I have a better idea: write what you want to read.

If it's an original story you think others might want to read, sure! Look into publishing options.

But write it anyway.

You have a scene with your favorite characters from your favorite show just bursting to get out of you, write it. Post it somewhere, payment be damned.

Even if no one else in the world sees it, YOU at least will be able to go back and read it, and gain some measure of happiness from it.

And I tell you what-- I forget half the shit that I write. Which means every now and then I find an old piece of mine that I read like it's brand new, and it makes me so happy. Because it's something I liked enough to put down on the page-- something I still want to read.

I'm lucky that I got a lot of positive feedback in my formative years as a writer, which boosted my confidence enough to keep sharing. But even if I hadn't, even if no one else had a single nice thing to say about it, it still satisfied one person-- me.

And that's enough reason for it to exist.

Fuck monetization. Your creativity is not tied to a dollar sign. It is antithetical to humanity's very existence to claim that it is. Write and share to your heart's content. It doesn't matter the quality or the content. If you write it, it is filling a void that needs to be filled by you alone, and that is enough reason to do it.

Write what you want to read.

Alto! AU in wich everyone Is happy and alive (🥲) I Need some Zack, Cloud and Kunsel shenanigans! How much headache they gave to Angeal?

Having gotten Zack to the rank of First without anyone dying or something exploding, Angeal is ready to take on a new apprentice!

Thanks to Zack's poking and wheedling, Shinra decides to finally give Cloud a shot. While Cloud is assigned to Sephiroth, who initially wants nothing to do with a pesky inept teenager, Angeal is the one who looks after poor Cloud during that early era. He's a very gentle and patient pseudo-mentor, recognizing how sensitive Cloud is and trying to boost his confidence.

Luckily, or at least until Sephiroth finally comes around, Cloud is also able to find a sense of acceptance and companionship with both Zack and Kunsel. A new generation of dumbass trios to torment the base! Angeal tags along occasionally to make sure they don't hurt themselves.

Ultimately, it's not as much of a headache as one might think. Angeal just herds them around like baby ducklings and makes sure they don't get into nearly enough mischief as he, Genesis, and Sephiroth did back in the day. Kunsel at the very least is a bit more mature than the others. So there's that. Zack may or may not have flooded the lobby. And Cloud keeps tagging along and is easily corrupted.

So Angeal has his work cut out for him. But that's the Way of the Dad.

here i am with a second ooc post as promised, a little belatedly! this is a plotcall post. i'm going to just post a little summary of what my muses are up to these days, as usual, including feelings on the songwriting bootcamp for my trainees! pls like this post if you want to plot, tho just keep in mind that i might be kinda slow aslddfsdf i'll do my best tho! things should ease up once i'm on winter break. i'll also use this to track event requirements, as i usually do! i'll put everything under the cut.

HOLIDAY MARKET joomi is not a christmas guy. he is not a christmas Hater, but he is a spending christmas extra depresseder. as someone without a functional family whatsoever, family-oriented holidays are a little rough. that being said, he's been so busy and cares about christmas so little that he totally forgot christmas was coming up. all of the christmas decorations and festivities are probably the only thing that made him realize. all of that being said, he feels more loved this year than ever before thanks to all of his friends, and feeling Supported by studio delta also helps, so he is Cautiously Optimistic that this might be a good christmas for him for once. i think he'd be happy to spend part of his sundays hanging out and enjoying the holiday festivities. i just don't know if he'll orchestrate the outing, so somebody else may need to mention it to him first!

SONGWRITING CAMP joomi is super super excited about the songwriting camp! songwriting is His Thing, he writes lyrics and composes and produces, the whole shebang, so he will be really willing to help anybody struggling with anything during the camp. this is actually boosting his confidence a lot in general, like, he's not the best Idol Trainee, but he's really confident in his songwriting skills, and it's encouraging to him to see that delta Really Values songwriting, enough to make a whole camp for it. he also knows lots of instruments (piano, guitar, bass, drums, in order of proficiency) so he can help with that too if needed. despite being a Vocalist he's actually interested in rapping these days, so u can expect him to be at a few of the rap workshops because he just wants to learn! he's not the best rapper, he just learned to be able to do rock covers of kpop songs with rap in them with his band, but he actually thinks it's really fun.

GENERAL UPDATES for general updates with joomi, he's actually pretty happy these days. he's enjoying training way more than he thought he would, isn't as bad at dancing anymore, and is surrounded by friends and people that want him to succeed for the first real time in his life. he felt alone for so long, but now he gets to write music and train with his friends every day and wake up next to the guy he's in love with most mornings, so life is actually kinda good. he's making me say knock on wood.

HOLIDAY MARKET nayoung actually loves christmas, but in a lowkey way, because god forbid nayoung ever outwardly express love for something. it's a bittersweet time of year for her, though, because her parents who are now divorced met on a ski slope, and she was a figure skater for nearly a decade when she was younger, so the winter season brings back those memories. they used to celebrate christmas a lot together as a family, but her relationship with her mom is now strained and her dad still lives in the us and she has mixed feelings about him now. we could maybe do something with this, i feel like the christmas season might make her a bit more Vulnerable too just because. nostalgia and melancholy. so maybe someone can get her to open up a little?? i think she'll mostly just be quieter than usual, but she would like to go to the market and experience the holiday festivities. she might even just go by herself, so she can like...Experience all of her feelings and deal with them alone, like she likes to do. so running into people while she's there might work best! but friends could probably convince her to come with them too. maybe.

SONGWRITING CAMP nayoung is not creative at all. she is very good at following what other people tell her to do "to perfection" (according to her) but when it's on her to come up with stuff she cannot ever think of anything unique, so the songwriting camp will be a struggle for her. she thinks putting so much effort into songwriting is kinda stupid when delta is probably the only company that will let their artists do anything super creative in their careers, but she will try to be a good sport about it and do her best, which will be very bad. she also hates being bad at things so she will get frustrated. people trying to help her would be appreciated (by me, probably not by her). genuinely she's so bad at this i almost don't even want to participate in the event because she doesn't deserve composition points. but that would be no fun.

GENERAL UPDATES as for how life is going, not much is going on with her, which is part of why i need more plots and threads for her! she doesn't have that many friends, especially that aren't trainees, and she is not particularly social, so she spends pretty much all of her time training, and then working her convenience store job on sundays. she's not bored, she actually likes the routine, but it is a bit mindnumbing sometimes. maybe the songwriting camp will actually be refreshing?

HOLIDAY MARKET ahyoung isn't as big on christmas as she is on halloween. like, at all. she actually kinda thinks it's stupid and annoying but not enough to be a scrooge about it really. mostly. she does complain and talk shit a lot. she might hang out around the holiday market just because she's curious about everything. she DOES like shopping and she DOES like discounts so if she goes it'll be for those reasons and not for the sake of holiday cheer at all. i think she'll still like the light displays regardless, though. she'll kind of see it as an art thing more than a christmas thing, as long as there aren't like, massive santas around or something. she'll think that's corny and probably say so to anyone she's with. she's GREAT at lying though, so she will pretend to be a couple with literally anyone to get a discount, even if you're a stranger. nobody is really a stranger to ahyoung. she treats everyone like friends. she's also down to do an impromptu busking session or sing for open mic night even though she is Not a great singer, or if she can get a band together soon enough, maybe busk with them or something. who knows. market thread 1: @minjube (1/4) market thread 2: @bexmatt (0/4) performance thread: open

GENERAL UPDATES ahyoung isn't up to anything particularly special! she's going to school for sound engineering (i don't think i determined what uni.....i can't remember if i plotted w someone over this...) and then she's doing concert photography and general freelance photography on the side. she can also do some video and photo editing, though she's not a professional at either of those. she's also putting together a band! it's slow going because she is super picky and also lazy and doesn't want to do the organization aspects but maybe it'll come together soon...she's generally super talkative and friendly tho, she's great at striking up conversation so it shouldn't be too hard to plot stuff for her! once i actually put the work in alsdjlsdaglkdgs

Someone asked me some great questions about R&R Ravio on Ao3 and I wrote an entire essay in response. It seems a shame for it to languish there, so it's getting chucked to the tumblr void as well!

I'm paraphrasing the questions but they were, roughly:

Is the relationship emotionally fulfilling for Ravio too?

Does Ravio have self-worth issues like Link does?

And whether he gets nervous when trying new things with Link/if he's always been nervous.

Some of this I'd already thought about and decided on, some of it I am winging and reserve the right to possibly change my mind on later.

Ravio is nervous in general and was at the start of their relationship too! He hid behind the hood and the exaggerated persona we see so much of in the game. Part of his development has been opening up and letting Link see him, both figuratively and literally. He has actually gained a lot of confidence over the course of the series. Putting the hood on during a rough sex scene is a tool for him and his mental state in the same way some of the toys he uses on Link are tools to help Link get into the right mindset. So some of his nerves come from when he's trying not to lean on those tools, or like the first time they had sex where Link could actually see his face: he was very nervous then. He's usually not nervous about introducing new kinky things because he's good at reading people in general and increasingly Link in particular. He's a salesman at heart; he knows how to present things so they'll appeal to the person he's talking to. He's got a pretty solid idea now on the kinds of things Link likes, what he'll tolerate, and what Link might be nervous about but will probably enjoy anyway. There are some things he hasn't wanted to risk trying, though.

Their relationship is emotionally fulfilling for him too! He does find great satisfaction in their sex life. He likes the control. It's an ego boost to be able to do those things to THE HERO, and successfully navigating Link's emotions and physical reactions so they both come away satisfied makes him feel very good about himself. It's manipulation in a way that he can feel good about! But as anyone wise will tell you, caretakers sometimes need people to lean on too. Ravio asking for gentle sex is him expressing a need that isn't getting entirely fulfilled. It's something they will continue to work on so Ravio can be happy in the relationship long-term. Link being okay with visiting Lorule and going with Ravio was one little example of the ways Link can be supportive of Ravio in return. As time goes on and Ravio continues to open up about himself, Link will keep discovering other ways he can contribute to Ravio's emotional well-being. Ravio's traumas are a little less obvious than Link's in part because of the point of view and in part because his are older and he's had more time to deal with them, but they are present and they will likely start to come out more over time. So in a way, yes, for now he is taking on the larger emotional load of the two of them, but I believe that is true of nearly anyone who is in a relationship with someone who is unwell in the way Link is unwell. That doesn't mean it will stay that way, or that he's not getting enough out of it even now to be happy.

Ravio's primary self-worth issue comes from him actually thinking of himself a coward. (He berates himself for leaving Lorule to get help, for example, even though it worked out and both Hilda and Zelda have told him he made the right choice. And all involved have acknowledged how difficult that choice was.) He also knows that some of the things he's good at (i.e. manipulation) can be pretty sleazy. He's done plenty of less than moral things in his life to survive. But he considers himself worthy of love, and he's found ways to make at least some peace with his talents. So that's a 50/50 on the self worth issues. More on this one TBD.

I'm an autistic girl who's fine with any gender, though I might slightly prefer a man tbh. I’m a pagan witch who’s interested in a ton of different subjects like horticulture, linguistics, genetics and anthropology/archaeology. I have a very bubbly, friendly personality though I’m also highly intelligent and often called “wise beyond my years” lol. I just think in a very big, philosophical way if that makes sense, so I come up with a lot of raw quotes and good advice. Even when I'm tired, I still seem to have more energy than the average person, and I never stop talking (if I go nonverbal something is very wrong).  The most common word used to describe me is “eccentric” since I’m very brave about being myself and don’t care too much what others think of me (at least not as much as some people). I have a kinda outdated way of talking and honestly living lol, I'm very much a grandma in a 20 year old body (though my body's chronically ill so the shoe still kinda fits). On that note, I have several chronic illnesses like scoliosis, joint pain, asthma and a bunch of other stuff. 😬 I love taking care of people, like baking things for people and drawing them cute pictures. I also really love gardening and writing (I’m super good with plants). I'm super short, 4’ 10” (142 cm), with messy auburn hair that's something red, brown and blonde all at once, glasses and a retro/vintage fashion sense that's like if cryptidcore was more colorful lol. My style also switches between very butch and very femme a lot. I can be sassy and witty when I want to be, but I also get nervous easily so it only comes out occasionally (but when it does I'm told I'm very funny). I also need to have outdoors time literally every single day, regardless of weather or season, or I start to go stir crazy. I’m a very nature-oriented person lol. I get super flustered being called cute names like sweetie or sweetheart, despite the fact that I call literally everyone I know things like that 🤣

• I have the suspicion you saw this coming, judging by how much Gale stuff you have on your profile. Even then, I genuinely think he’d be the best match for you!

• Starting off right away, he’s a wizard, you’re a witch. While I’m entirely the same thing, they have enough similarities to go hand and hand, which is the thing you guys bond over the most.

• He’s also interested in the various hobbies you dabble in too. He’s done what he can on his free time, but I’m sure there’s something he hasn’t done yet that you can introduce and info dump him about. He’s a great listener actually.

• Gale is a very smart man. Hell, he uses big words when he talks, and often drags things out a little longer in a witty manner, I think just to impress people? It could just be a normal thing for him though. Nonetheless, he’s happy you can keep up with his banter.

• Depending on the occasion, Gale can have lots of energy. Especially if he was recently fed an object containing weave lol. Though, if you’re feeling a boost of energy he wouldn’t mind something like going on a stroll with you.

• Gale is pretty eccentric, as seeing how often he talks with his hands and uses big words. So don’t be afraid to be yourself! Gale loves seeing you and your big personality.

• He’s glad to see someone independent as well. From what I’ve seen he’s very attracted to confidence and heroism. See you with both makes his heart really flutter.

• Gale is your biggest cheerleader by far, and if you ever need something done because you feel out of it or sick, Gale will get it for you.

• He enjoys your creativity side too. He’s worked on poetry in his free time, and I believe that he finds anyone with a creative mind admirable.

• He likes colors too! So pretty..he absolutely adore everything you wear on a daily basis, and you’ll often find him complementing you throughly, finding his favorite minute detail to prove how much he cares.
