Out on the pier at Lorne today, a friendly marathoner helped catch us beaming. We drove from Lorne to Apollo Bay admiring all the way that we ran yesterday and surprise surprise, it's a long way! This is what I mean when I say that I think that this is one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. The views were outstanding and so was Corey Lockwood​'s result today (photo) @greatoceanroadrunfest finishing in Apollo Bay. He has not been able to break the highly targeted 3 hour marathon mark on an easy course so he went on and did it on a hilly course with a 2h56min! The same applies for Dirk Heitmann​ who did a 7min PB today. This is telling a lot about their determination, work ethic and great attitude they have towards training. Well done boys and Coach Kate for the programming. On the 23kms race, Ben O and Sue A DNS due to the nasty flu going around. Ricky L ran 1h38, Jason M 1h41, Matt O 1h45, Faith F 2h16, Jarrod K 2h23 and Mark U ran with a friend. At Geelong Cross Country Club 4kms team race, we had heaps of fun and turned the day into a heart rate test so that our run training becomes more specific with individual heart zones to train with. We will do another one on the 4th of June in Waurn Ponds. A tired wee household of two happy ultra runners tonight! Chris ran 60 kilometres and he did so incredibly well! It was a toughie too, with a hills throughout and a couple of spiky big hills in particular. But this part of the world - oh my. So very spectacularly special, running with the ocean to our left throughout and just gazing at the water. The sun was rising as we headed to the start, and it set the colour of the bays on fire with pinks. Of which I have no photos because sometimes experience are made even brighter by leaving the phone at home and running a few grams free-er without the responsibility in your pocket. And that little one incognito shard of glass tucked away there? 3rd. Chris: 60 kilometres, 5 hours 50 minutes Emma: 60 kilometres, 5 hours 2 minutes 1000m elevation, powerful little head wind, rain toward the end and a day together I would like to remember forever please ♥️ Thanks #greatoceanroadrunfest , such fun today and in awe of the event you've created with such care and heart in this magical part of the world.
